OMORI - Voice Actor Headcanons.

While I haven’t exactly finished this game yet, I am close enough to the end and have met basically all the characters, so I think it’s time I got around to doing my good ol’ series of VA headcanons for a game that either doesn’t have one, or doesn’t have an English Dub.

This time we’re doing Omori, a game I started playing at the beginning of this year and have fallen in love with very very quickly. I’ve been through a very painful time of my life recently and this game helped me work through it letting me know that it doesn’t matter how I grieve, just that any way I can is correct. 

And the way the characters work together in the game is also incredible, and I was eagerly awaiting to get to the point that I’m at so I could do a VA headcanons section for this. So before we get started, let me once again go two things.

This is NOT CANON. These are HEADCANONS and are unofficial. It’s just a hypothetical situation. If the characters were voiced, this is who I imagine would voice them.

Every major character in the games is included here, so there are HEAVY SPOILERS for the game’s main storylines. DO NOT READ THIS POST IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED THE GAME OR DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED.

Since there's no big propaganda flow going on I'll start again, trying to hit flints so it starts a fire ig.

SO this far we can say there are two kinds of webtoons: those in which there's a disabled character, and those in which there's a character with a disability.

Like a disabled character is going to have a disability but it's not going to have a big role in the series, or if it does, it's because of it's influence on others (ex: Ivan from Forever After has a scar on his face, but no one really cares, least of all himself, after the five panels where they said 'oh shoot he's got an old scar so it must have been a while since we saw him', Duchess Solon being bedridden affected her daughter and family but we barely saw her and her recovery didn't matter - did she recover or did she die btw?? still not sure, so you see the point - Hades from Lore Olympus has scars but they only serve to show he's a traumatized man and it honestly feels lowkey fetichist).

But a character with a disability? That's a character whose disability plays an active role in the story. Amy from Spaceboy is having panick attacks onscreen and it affects her character (also she's the main character so it's given a lot of importance). Emma from My Deepest Secret hallucinates an entire character for the whole story. Bridget from Nonesuch is limited in her movements because of her legs. Su-A from Whale Star learns to get used to her disability (learning to write so she can express herself, learning to sign...) after she lost her voice in one of the early chapters. Sang from To be ordinary! is the main character so the reader sees the world through him like half of the time and doesn't see the faces of the other characters either.

Wow that's a lot lol. OK let's do it one by one.

Top 3 stories? Probably Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid (currently wrapped up), Spaceboy (currently on hiatus), and Subzero. Since two are not releasing rn I'll add two others because I'm a dirty cheater: UnOrdinary and Stagtown.

Hot take of my choice? Some of the top romance series suck. Lore Olympus is a whole can of worm of it's own, but among other things the age gap is mentionned as creepy in-universe then never mentionned again, one of the main characters slept with a woman then with two of her daughters and it's treated as a joke, it's hailed as a feminist retelling but many characters got sexually assaulted and it's either played off as a joke (if not the main character) or the worst thing ever and then never spoken about again (for the main character), etc etc. Perfect marriage revenge is just about the same guy repeatedly coming to the rescue of the FL like she can't deal with a situation alone he has to baby her. Let's not even count all those starting with a girl waking up in a guy's bed with no memory of the night before and forced to marry him (first night with the duke, his majesty's proposal, the newlywed diaries of the witch and the dragon...)... I mean yeah there are tropes and then there are just sucky situations. See a healthy yet very interesting kind of couple in the next answer.

Fav Canon ship is Clove x Kyro from Subzero. Like... they must be the only actual functional couple on the app. They have a heavy common past (murders and war not just anything) and they COMMUNICATE about it! Though tbh all the couples in Subzero are actually both healthy and entertaining.

Fav disabled rep I'll go with Su-A from Whale Star, although Bridget from Nonesuch and Amy from Spaceboy are close.
