so. what does this tell us? more often than not, in canon, skwisgaar is depicted as having sex or sexual feelings towards thin women who are closer to his own age. despite this, even in canon, an emphasis is drawn to his attraction to gmilfs and fat women, most notably with him demanding to be put in charge of "dems old ladies" in florida.

i'm gonna put it bluntly, this is where my silly skwisgaar analysis goes into actual feminist critique: it's because people still find it unusual at best or fetishistic at worst to be genuinely attracted to older and/or fat women. that's the whole thing. everyone—from fandom to interviewers to even the show (by making his attraction to older and fat women an inherent joke aspect of his character)—focusing on this aspect of his attraction does so because, on some level, they cannot fathom a young(ish, depending on what age you headcanon him to be), thin, conventionally attractive man being attracted to women who don't fit that mold.

and, in some ways, there is some reality to this—women's beauty is still held up to an insanely high standard, and generally it's more accepted for average-looking men to have attractive female partners than for average-looking women to have attractive male partners. societal standards for women's beauty and expectations for what men should find attractive is what this joke hinges on, and honestly? it's really frustrating to see this reiterated so often in the fandom. because skwisgaar never really acts particularly fetishistic towards any of the women he's attracted to. you could argue the "exotic" comment was, but he was still talking in terms of his food metaphor, and he's not exactly the best at expressing himself in english.

he loves all women. he genuinely does, his attraction to them has no size, race, or age—any consenting adult woman is game. i don't know about you, but it's fucking refreshing to see any kind of character like that. lesbian skwisgaar rights who said that

So, I wanna talk more about how they all refound each other (link to how they met here)

Just to recap, Big Mama has Mikey, Draxum has Raph, and Splinter has Donnie. Big Mama's in her Nexus Hotel, Draxum is in NYC with a cloaking broach, and Splinter's in the ever iconic sewers.

Big Mama is actually a very kind mother to Mikey! She loves her little baby, and especially loves how he has her beloved Lou's smile. She spoils him to death and lets them express himself however she'd like. (If you haven't picked up on it yet, Mikey is genderfluid in this au and generally presents as a feminine man) Mikey absolutely adores skirts and zip-up hoodies, and usually wears a very bright suit top with a big orange ball gown skirt to formal events that Big Mama matches at Mikey's whims (I cannot draw for the life of me so if anyone is willing to draw this for me I will work out some kind of trade with you if you'd like 🙏)

But yeah, Big Mama does not let her fight in the Nexus, and has even toned down the brutality of the Nexus due to Mikey's pleading. There aren't any more lethal fights and she rarely makes binding, lifelong contracts because it made her baby upset to see all the sad and scared people.

They are a very cute duo and both genuinely love each other very much

Then there's Draxum amd Raph! Draxum luckily snagged two cloaking broaches before his lab exploded and slapped them on both him and his 2 year old son before heading up to the surface. The two of them then got a apartment in the.....*shuddder*........human world. Draxum tries to hide them in mostly secret, only leaving the house for groceries and necessities, but eventually realizes that poor Raphie is very lonely.

This is made so much worse when he meets the little girl downstairs and wants so desperately to follow her to school after their playdates.........Draxum finally caves.

With the help of Mr. and Mrs. O'Neil, he enrolls Raphie in the same Kindergarden as April and lets him finally go to school after years of homeschooling. Raphie struggles with the transition a bit, but eventually he gets the hang of it and thrives! Draxum encourages him to join as many clubs as he can (without getting overwhelmed of course) and is his biggest fan.

Once Draxum is able to settle down, he's actually a huge soccer mom and goes to all of Raphie's events, he gets totally embarrassed sometimes. Draxum and the O'Neils are really good friends and try to have dinner at least once a week

But once again, a very happy family! They struggle to show it sometimes, but they truly love each other and only want what's best for each other

Then we have Donnie and Splinter! Splinter was mutated with the DNA from his pet rat that he picked up on his travels with Big Mama and Draxum to get the turtles, and he was only able to grab Donnie and retreat to the sewers before Draxum's while lab collapsed. He, along with the other two, belive his partners and other children to be dead, so he never goes searching for them. Instead, he raises his son in the sewers on his own, foraging for all that they need just like in canon.

However, their sewer home is PREEEEEEEETY nice, since Donnie doesn't really doesn't have anything better to do other than make their home as nice as possible. He's has all major appliances working since he was 6 and only makes improvements from there. He also has his little pet project, but Splinter doesn't know about that yet!!!!

Speaking of Splinter, he varies pretty dramatically from canon. He's a lot less depressed because he had a much better experience with the yokai world and doesn't feel nearly as ashamed to BE a yokai (or yokai-adjacent) and keeps himself in much better shape, helping him with the dysmorphia that he does have. Overall, Splinter's doing pretty well, and he's a pretty attentive parent overall!

He was able to access some of his funds from his Lou Jitsu days and pays for Donnie to go to online school, and by the time Donnie meets up with the rest of his family at 11, he's halfway through high school work and has plans to go on to college so that he can start building up his tech empire by the time he's 18

But yeah, yet again, a overall happy parent/child relationship!

(Then there's Leo. All the angst had to go somewhere, right???)

Moving on! Now, the adults all lived separately with each of their respective kid, but when Raphie was about 8, he got really sick. Like, really really sick. Draxum went to as many human doctors that he could trust, but none of them were able to figure out what was wrong with his baby. He finally musters up the courage to go down to the Hidden City, and finds out that Raphie has Mystic Overload Syndrome. While he's running around trying to find stuff to help his little boy (he's so affectionate guys), Raphie sneaks out! He starts running around the Hidden City unbroached, and he feels truly seen for the first time in his life.

While running around, he literally runs into another turtle yokai, one who's dressed in expensive orange clothes...........

I don’t feel like drawing, so have some platonic Lumi and Alastor headcanons :

They met via Rosie. They had seen each other before, Lumi accidentally helping Alastor taking down on an Overlord, but they officially met via Rosie.

Lumi is terrible at social cues, but they are good at picking up patterns, which is how they can read people, Alastor was no match for that.

Alastor is thankful for that, since Lumi can pick up on people, and Alastor can use that to his advantage to strike deals.

Lumi died in 1917 at 18, while Alastor died in 1933 at 35(ish). They often joke that they could’ve met each other had they lived in the same country, and how they could’ve been around the same age had they died at the same time.

Lumi and Alastor don’t exactly show vulnerability, if at all, so for one of them to show vulnerability, the other will have to show that first. It’s truly a mess.

During the time where Alastor disappeared, Lumi genuinely thought that he had died. They grieved and continued on with their life- until they saw the commercial for the hotel and they recognized him.

Lumi has their little family down in hell : twin sister, younger brother, youngest sister and mother. They do not get along with their mother. Their younger sister and father are in heaven.

Alastor doesn’t really like the twin sister, can barely handle the younger brother. But the youngest sister ? Who is a cannibal ? He adores her ! He doesn’t like children, but Yu is an exception, he secretly spoils her to no end.

Speaking about baby Yu, she resides in cannibal town with Rosie, Lumi visits often.

Alastor believes in discipline that involves hitting children (it’s canon), but he knows better than to hit any of Lumi’s siblings.

Being friends with Lumi made of Alastor a cat person. He hates dogs already, so a friend who is a cat and purrs and smells like happiness and all the best things ever ? Count him in.

Husk dislikes Lumi for this very reason.

Speaking of Husk and Niffty, Lumi likes them, they don’t understand how Husk hates being a cat, they’re apex predators after all, and they like Niffty, and Niffty adores them so much.

Lumi showed her a katana they use when they train with their students, ever since then they became one of Niffty’s favorite person.

Alastor has witnessed how they train their students, they were a samurai after all and he was curious. Let’s just say that watching them gave him new torture ideas with how rough and hard that training looked (He quite felt bad for that one student who had to start over 500 swings because their body wasn’t correctly placed in Lumi’s standards.)

Lumi reads Alastor better than a lot of people, so they know that he loves and craves attention 24/7 among other things. So when the attention is striped away from him (like in episode 5 where Mimzy turned her attention to Lucifer) Lumi is here to give him some attention (“So you used to dance ? Maybe I should accompany you to one of your outings then, I’d like to see that for myself.”)

Which Alastor appreciates immensely.

Lumi has a set of rules they follow to stay on Alastor’s good side.

Alastor was very sour when he learned that Lumi had a partner when they were human. They are the one to always give them the attention he wants and needs, to always praise him in some way, who can understand him like nobody else, he doesn’t want their attention away from him.

In reality when the partner comes along eventually, Alastor has now 2 people hyping him up and giving him attention when he needs it.

And this is Lumi’s partner we’re talking about, when Alastor latches out and tries to make the partner jealous (“I’ve stayed with them for the last 80 years”) instead of being met with anger and jealousy, he is met with patience, gratefulness and understanding. (“I see. Thank you for taking care of them, I am glad they found a friend who cares for them the way you do.”)

Alastor taught Lumi how to cook, and cooks for them sometimes.

And Lumi taught Alastor French. He had a good start, but it could’ve been better.

Lumi speaks 9 languages, and they are native Japanese.

Alastor had to teach himself how to hold chopsticks, and Lumi had to teach themselves how to use a fork.

Whenever Alastor notices that Lumi isn’t doing great (aka they start to melt because when their emotions are too much they become magma and they start to melt), he takes them on a walk in the Bayou side of his room.

Alastor and Lumi fought Adam together, they got severely hurt together and left to lick their wounds together.

Lumi has tagged along on a few radio broadcasts of Alastor, it’s just them sitting next to him, listening and purring quietly.

Alastor loves the sound of their purrs, he wants Husk to make the same sound.

Lumi started to use pet names such as “honey” or “baby” after hanging around Alastor and Rosie as much as they do.

Alastor often calls them “Lumi dear”, and occasionally “Darling” (he found out that the nickname snaps them out when they are panicking or experiencing a flashback of some sort)

Thrawn Headcanons

Warnings: explicit sexual material (minors DNI); female!reader referred to as Thrawn’s partner.

A/N: I’m rewatching Rebels and I’ve been in a Thrawn mood for months after finishing both canon series. Being my favorite Star Wars character aside, I’ve never seen headcanons of him. So I wanted to take a stab.

SFW

1.     Thrawn likes children. He likes their curious nature and always takes time to answer their questions, nudging them to think about answers and work through problems themselves. Patient and methodical in his approach, Thrawn believes educating and preparing future generations to be inquisitive, analytical, and detail-oriented is instrumental to the survival and success of the Ascendancy.

2.     Museums—specifically art and history museums—dominate Thrawn’s days off work. He takes his time (at least half a day) observing and reading the exhibits, appreciating unique aspects to different cultures, and studying the art and history of these cultures to better understand their actions—military or otherwise. Sometimes he loses track of time and an announcement that the museum is closing will surprise him. It’s one of the few times he’s caught off guard.

3.     Thrawn does not understand politics, and it frustrates him. He’s spent years honing his military and analytical skills, so to be bested by politics irks him. He views problems through an analytical mindset that can be solved through logistics. But politics is not black-and-white, and people act on their personal—sometimes greedy and/or selfish—motivations (in both the Ascendancy and the Empire). Thrawn believes in pursuing the good of the Ascendancy, and the good of the galaxy at large. He doesn’t understand how individuals pursue their own greed over the survival and success of a galactic union.

4.     Perceiving the world around him through an analytical and logical mindset, Thrawn can be seen as emotionless and unfeeling. This isn’t accurate. Thrawn cares for others, in his own way. He sees the potential in others and he wants to help them reach that potential. It doesn’t matter if it’s a child wanting to learn how to fly or an officer proving themselves worthy of a promotion, Thrawn wants to see his subordinates and general citizens succeed. And he will provide them with the tools and means to succeed. That’s how he shows he cares.

5.     Thrawn saves his genuine smiles for specific moments—achievements. He does smile on the occasion (especially when a child works through a problem), but his genuine smiles are rare. They can make anyone feel special and appreciated.

6.     With a constant yearning to learn, Thrawn enjoys spending time at a museum with his partner. He will challenge your thinking on certain beliefs, and he expects you to challenge his own. Your interest in specific exhibits piques his curiosity and, after your visit, he will spend hours learning everything he can on your subjects of interest simply to share in your fascination.

7.     Being with Thrawn is a learning experience. Logic dominates his mindset and he finds it difficult, at times, to understand the more emotional side to his partner. He wants a partner who is independent—who isn’t emotionally reliant on him—and recognizes his unique ways of showing love.

8.     Thrawn doesn’t verbalize his love and, from face value, it can seem like he views his partner as a colleague and nothing more. But he shows his love through the time spent together, by welcoming you into his home and sleeping in his bed; he shows his love through simple gestures, like learning everything about your interests/beliefs to engage with you, observing what piques your attention in a marketplace and later gifting it to you, knowing your drink preference and preparing it for you each morning to take one extra thing off your plate.  

9.     Thrawn is not neglectful with his attention and care, but he does emphasize the importance of his work (the man is trying to protect his people and other species from a Grysk takeover—that shit requires lots of his time and attention). He desires a partner who isn’t clingy or demanding of his time; someone who respects his dedication to his work and supports him. Someone who doesn’t balk at his drive and understands when he can’t make it home until late at night.

10.     It’s never a dull evening in Thrawn’s kitchen. Innovative, Thrawn prefers to experiment with recipes—mixing herbs, introducing new seasonings, trying different methods. He likes to perfect variations of the same recipe—keeping true to the source material—and he especially loves when you join him. Music in the background and you both contributing to the meal’s preparation, is a simple way for Thrawn to wind down after a busy day at work. And if you—in the middle of preparing dessert—tease him by splattering some whip cream on his face, he’ll return the favor to your neck or collarbone, and he won’t hesitate to lick it off. Possibly leading to more intimate areas for whip cream extravaganzas.

I also love that never in the game he is an actual antagonist, he just makes himself very hard to get along with in the first half of the game and makes every fight as a partner extremely frustrating just because you killed a snake before he could once. 10/10 petty behaviour. i wasn't sure if it meant fandom takes or my pet peeves about the pair, so i went for the former because i could not think of a specific pet peeve i have about them as a duo?

so, from a fanfic/fandom pov, it's probably when someone has a preference that is so obvious, it ruins the balance of the ship. for example, being able to tell that someone kinda dislikes steve by making him uncharacteristically mean, or forgiving and justifying all of tony's actions but catastrophising all of steve's etc. i think the beauty of stony is that they're both fucked up in their own way and they keep misstepping and trying to fix things, and portraying one as a victim and one as evil doesn't sit right with me (it can work for certain prompts, but i'm thinking more about some mcu canon fics/takes).

ahh, this is hard. one thing that comes to mind is when an immortal supersoldier steve pressured tony into taking a not-very-safe early version of extremis just so they can be together forever? or something like that. i remember thinking not only would steve never ask that of him, but he'd definitely be against the risks?

this is for mcu steve: i understand why we all kinda minimise steggy as part of steve's journey from a stevetony perspective, but i always feel like her death and steve having to carry her coffin in the midst of the civil war drama is a bit overlooked. i think steve was at an all-time low in that film, and it reinforces why he fought as hard as he did for bucky. after she passed, he was truly his only anchor to the past. and as much as i don't like his ending, i think steve fooled us all that he's fine and has adapted to the new century, but i think he carried this trauma with him all the way to the end, and when he saw an opportunity to belong again, he went for it. i guess my point is that, canonically, steve presents himself as strong no matter what, but i don't know that he ever felt fully at home in the future. so, even if he's happy with tony, i don't believe that would be enough to fix it all, and similarly to a widowed person who will always love their late partner because it wasn't a breakup that separated them, steve would always have a part of his past deep in his bones, and he would need therapy, and him and tony would have to navigate that, together.

I'm so glad you like my posts! ;w; In general, I don't think things need to be canon to be worth thinking about & exploring creatively... but buddy? Larry being in love with Tuddrussel? That is IN THE SHOW. I can't stress enough that this HAPPENS in Time Squad. I would venture to say Larry wanting a loving relationship with Tudd and Tudd not giving it to him is a reoccurring theme (along with history and slapstick comedy and. gender roles, weirdly??? tune in for THAT essay later lmao). You may have seen it already, but I compiled a bunch of my favorite TuddLarry moments in a video here! It also includes moments where Something Gay Happens On Screen no matter what characters are involved... I know it's all there for comedy, but for the most part, the gay jokes in TS don't feel like they come from a hateful place to me. Everyone gets made fun of equally in this show... it has that kind of mean-spirited early 2000s humor lol

My absolute favorite underrated TuddLarry canon moment of all time is in A Thrilla At Attila's. In Tudd's fantasy recollection of the mission, Otto and Larry look up to him as a great leader... it's VERY CUTE that Tudd's dream is to be genuinely admired by them 😭 BUT at one point, the fantasy Larry (who is inexplicably wearing a tutu) swoons over Tudd with little hearts over his head while Tudd is fighting some other guy?! THIS IS IN TUDD'S FANTASY HE WISHES THIS WOULD HAPPEN

U know what, I'm gonna take this opportunity to ramble about family commitment as a central theme of the show!!

- Otto is literally adopted by Tudd and Larry (Larry calls it adoption in Kubla Khan't), and Otto's addition to the squad forces their business-only relationship to change. Time Squad is (at least partly) about three very different characters navigating a new family dynamic formed by chance.

- They naturally fall into typical sitcom family roles: Tudd's the manchild fun dad, Larry's the homemaking strict mom, and Otto's the sweet kid who's trying to keep the peace... their personalities clash as they try to live and work and be happy together. It's significant that they're alone on the satellite they live on; with no one else from their own time period around them while they're at home, they're isolated with one another like a family unit in a suburban house. Even though they fight, they grow to love each other over time... what's that thing people say about hate and love being two sides of the same coin? I feel like Larry's love for Tudd manifests as anger a lot of the time—he gets upset whenever Tudd doesn't measure up to his ideal of a domestic partner. Is that healthy? Idk, probably not, but that's the way it is for them (at least in the two seasons that exist 👀).

- Of course, family commitments aren't always harmonious, and for these guys things are chaotic MOST of the time... but no matter what historical figures they meet or temptations they face, at the end of the day, they always come back together. They're a family, it's as simple as that. Otto doesn't need to have a logical reason to turn down George Washington's offer to adopt him in Father Figure of Our Country—no one can replace Tuddrussel, and that's it.

So tl;dr, Time Squad is about two men adopting a child and having a domestic committed relationship, and it uses that setup to tell funny stories and introduce fun conflict !?? And it's all in a cute art style AND there's HISTORY??? Cartoon Network should ABSOLUTELY bring it back and make a new season HEAR MY PLEA

—Of course, I think Tudd and Larry's relationship developing into a romantic (but still wacky) one would be a great setup for such a new season! But that's just my post-canon fantasy ;^) ... and what all my fanart and little writings are about lol

I mean, to start, Yuuichi reminds me a lot of my partner. So there's an obvious strong bias in my opinion of him.

And 2. back when i first watched inago (i was maybe 15/16???) I have both a plush and crush on Yuuka and Yuuichi. Idk theyre just so pretty and i love their vibe, I WAS IN AWE

And theyre both so cool to me and they have a lot of similarities... so right off the bat, i'm telling you that i love them sm, i loved them for years, and that i would die for yuuyuu

To take this more seriously, I feel so much for their characters and where they stand in the narrative.

Everybody knows this but i will mention it... they were both made to be the motivation for two similar deuteroganists. They are the motivation, the anchor, and a literary device that reflects the foundation of those main characters. To exist as them automatically means that they are and will always be attached to another character in content importance and would rarely have the screentime alone if at all (yuuka is even abysmal in this respect).

In personality, i think these two are the same way as their purpose in the series.

Yuuka introduces herself as Yuuka in go. Without the surname. I understand the intent for that scene of course, she was actively avoiding calling herself a Gouenji since her brother's poorly kept secret will be known. But I imagine this is just how she introduces herself even before fifth sector.

She's not doing this because she's timid or anything related to teenage rebellion, Gouenji just have A LOT of weird fans that she would rather not call their attention. There are also some who just wanted to be close to her to get a chance to see Gouenji. She really genuinely thinks her brother is cool and still supporta him and loves him so much but his fans are just... so weird that it's sometimes hard to show her support of him in public. But she sometimes think her brother is living a bigger life purpose than her (she would not help him in go if she didnt think this and she may also be there to make sure he's taking care of himself).

Anyway, Shuuya is important to Yuuka because in her eyes, he (and Fuku) raised her. I think by the time her middle school graduation came by, she already realized this and asked Shuuya to be there for her instead (tired of hearing that their father is too busy for them) and Shuuya would have been emotional about this for days. That's how I think Yuuka herself put more importance in Shuuya for better or for worse.

In Yuuichi's case, I think he always talks about Kyousuke. Whether you initiated the talk about Kyousuke or not, he will be mentioned. He will come up. Yuuichi talks a lot about the shared dream he and his brother have and how amazing kyousuke is. Even without his alternate version in CS confirming this, I think Yuuichi believe that Kyousuke plays a greater role in the world than him.

There is something a bit inferior with how both Yuuka and Yuuichi see themselves compared with their brothers but because of the love and support that they get, I think they're dealing with this really well and are going to be fine.

But just with that, i can already say that these two have an incredible potential to have the deepest understanding of each other. They would know each other in a level that no other person could. If there was at least one canon content of them i would have been obsessed with this ship.

Yuuyuu is a crackship that has too many connections to be considered as one

Technically yuuyuu is a crackship because they dont have a single interaction and have not been in the same frame before. But is it really??

Funny thing about yuuyuu is that their roads are meant to cross even if you follow canon. Just the relevance of being both needing a physical therapist for years as a minor (yuuka would need go visit the PT even after she fully recovers at least annually for a few years for check ups and drills) in the same hospital alone is enough to make these two at least have a physical familiarity to each other. Yuuka also would have visited katsuya at least once for something or waited for him around the hospital. And these are all outside canon alone.

They could even meet in the duration of the last parts of inago too when yuuka often called kyousuke over. Or even dueing or in between cs and galaxy. My point is that these two live in a really small world that it's impossible for them to not meet. Even all the canon information they both have would agree that they know each other even if it's just from their faces.

They have the same hobbies and interests and they both love Gouenji Shuuya

Yuuka would appreciate to meet a non-weird gouenji fan once or someone who genuinely wants to be friends with her that's not because of her brother (she does have friends like these tho ofc, but she appreciates having more). I know yuuichi would be the first fan who doesnt talk about gouenji like he's some badass lord of fire.

Aside this fact (this is hc territory), I'm a strong believer that both yuuka and yuuichi are really interested in humanities, social affairs and politics. You can't be disabled and not be humanitarian. It comes with how shitty the state and some people treats you, i think their interests align just so sooo well. (Adding also my hyperverbal autistic yuuka headcanon here too)

Hold onto your hats folks because we might be here awhile

Before we start, I want to make it known that I like Anders. I REALLY like Anders to the point that, Anders is one of my favorite characters in Dragon Age if not just in fiction in general. PLEASE do not see this as character bashing because it’s not, I love this character. There is nothing wrong with characters being written with flaws. NUANCE in character writing is GOOD and Anders is FULL OF IT.

This is also NOT a judgement on people who like the Anders romance and consider it healthy. This is MY interpretation of this romance and Anders as a character. EVERYONE in the Dragon Age fandom has drastically different interpretations of romances and characters with some that are very specific to their world state. I would be lying if I said what I’m about to say wasn’t colored by my Hawke and Anders who in my canon have a very tragic, toxic relationship.

Okay. With that all out of the way. Let’s go

What are my Very Strong Opinions on the Anders romance and/or why do I think the Anders romance is unhealthy?

It’s uh. A lot. And hilariously, much of it is framed by his behavior OUTSIDE of a relationship with Hawke BECAUSE Anders is INCAPABLE of taking no for an answer.

If you don’t instantly shoot him down after recruiting him he pines for you for the rest of the game REGARDLESS of who you choose to romance, and let me be clear: I believe Anders’ love for Hawke is GENUINE.

Anders does, truly, deeply love Hawke and unrequited love sure does hurt but that is not an excuse for his behavior. Anders shows literally zero respect for you OR your love interest if it is not him. His jealousy is blatant and he WANTS it to be, he wants Hawke to feel bad and question their relationship with their current significant other if it drives Hawke back to him.

And this is... very strange considering that Anders literally warns you against getting into a relationship with him multiple times. Once right at the start where he says “No don’t fall for me I’ll only hurt youuuuu” and then, if you break up with him at the start of act 2 like he BEGS you to do, he’ll say “It’s better this way.”

AND THEN if you keep showing interest in him he’ll keep pushing you away, telling you not to get in a relationship with him. Even saying that if you don’t open your door to him then he’ll know you “took my warning at last” which all sounds like he’d be fine or even prefer to not get involved with you.

Except, sike, if you move on from him he just cannot stand that.

Now, there’s a good portion of the fandom that would call this “bad writing.” I wouldn’t. This is instead something that just makes Anders so nuanced and fascinating to me. This is a big part of WHY I love him as much as I do:

Anders is very selfless, for completely selfish reasons.

Anders tells you not to get to get too close to him because he’ll only hurt you, an act that feels selfless, but the MOMENT you start putting your attention elsewhere he cannot stand it and scrambles to have it back.

He expresses his jealousy openly so you will turn your attention to him one way or the other. He puts you in awkward situations (Asking if you’re “sure” about your new romantic partner in his final quest when they’re literally RIGHT THERE and insults them to their face) to embarrass you in front of your partner deliberately. It’s very manipulative behavior.

You can see this in other non-romantic contexts as well!! The biggest example being if you kill him, he says “The sooner I die, the sooner I become a martyr for the mages” which is just so telling. He wants you to kill him in that moment because he wants to become a MARTYR. The act of blowing up the chantry to begin the mage rebellion was a selfless one, but the desire he has to be killed afterwards to become a martyr is a selfISH one. (It maybe less a desire and more a way of coming to terms with what he thought would be an inevitable death sentence, but the fact that is the way he does is- telling)

And part of the reason I never do it, my Hawke is like “No bitch you live in this world you made and face it”

The one exception to this is his clinic. I don’t believe there’re any selfish motivations there, and I think that’s telling in his own right because remember the clinic was the first thing he did upon arriving in Kirkwall. He set up this clinic WELL BEFORE Justice had really started to take over. It was kind of his last act as himself in a very tragic way, for lack of better words. He even says that he begins to neglect it as the years roll on, the spirit of Justice taking over him more and more, it’s... very sad.

(And it does drive me INSANE that his writer was ableist as all hell and she accidentally wrote this SUPER INTERESTING character while INTENDING to write an ableist caricature of a bipolar person. I won’t speak on this too much as while I am ND I’m not bipolar but I just want it to be known that I’m aware of it and it infuriates me)

BUT this is about Anders’ romance and not a full analysis of his character, that can wait but this is what I mean. NUANCE. THE MAN IS MADE OF NUANCE!!!

SO let’s talk about how he is IN a romance now, rather than outside of it.

We’ll start with the language he uses to refer to you, and how he sees you in a relationship because oh BOY

Anders talks in a way that’s... concerning. He says that the “can’t control himself” around Hawke, that he’s obsessed with you. That’s not fantastic! It’s very codependent language that leads into the other flaws. Anders puts you in a position that you’re his entire world and he would be so much worse without you there. Yes, in the end he blows up the chantry regardless of what you do, that does not make his behavior any less distressing.

He’s always talking about how he’s dangerous, he’ll hurt you, he’s doomed, but that you’re his ONE bright light. You’re his ONE salvation. The ONE THING that helps him and that losing you would kill him. That’s- claustrophobic as all hell. I’ve been in relationships like this, romantic and platonic, they’re HELL. Anders sets off ALL OF THOSE vibes with me. Yes, he loves Hawke, and yes, he can be very sweet, but that does not counteract these flaws.

The Anders romance is basically just Anders constantly hurting Hawke and Hawke having no choice but to be fine with it, because if they aren’t Anders will continue to pursue them and disrespect their new relationship. It’s constant emotional manipulation, and it’s sad.

BUT this is why I find it to be a great story because IT MAKES SENSE why Anders is like this. Think about his life before! How many healthy relationships has he even seen? He doesn’t have the romantic experience of an adult, he CAN’T have that experience. He’s doing what he can based on his past experiences which were not good.

AND STILL that is not an excuse because who else is all of that (never had a healthy relationship, doesn’t have romantic adult experiences, literally could not have had those things) true for?

Fenris

I know I know but just, hear me out, it is really interesting to put these two romances next to each other given Anders and Fenris’ entire thing

Fenris is (debatably) the other character that auto-falls for you, he is at least the other character that initiates flirting before you do if you have not done so before (No Isabela does not flirt with you in this way! You don’t get a wheel that’s just hearts and broken hearts with her UNLESS you initiate! It ONLY HAPPENS with Anders and Fenris!) And his approach is the POLAR OPPOSITE to Anders

If you flirt with him, he flirts back. He asks one time if him being an escaped elven slave bothers you, and if you go “nope” he’s like “dope” and does not bring it up again. After that, he continues to flirt with you, saying he’s interested and would be open to finding out. He pulls you closer while Anders pushes you away.

And yet... who leaves in act 2?

This is the fundamental difference between the two in their romances and maybe even as people. Because I believe by the end of their personal quests, if you’ve shown interest, they are both in similar states emotionally (confused, tired, broken), and both equally as in love with Hawke and the difference between how they approach a relationship with Hawke is this:

Anders wants you to be the thing that grounds him, that saves him. You can’t be that.

Fenris realizes that you can’t be that from the start, and leaves, and comes back when he’s ready

BUT the representation of Fenris and Anders’ dichotomy through their romances is another post (a post I WILL make. I made a twitter thread on it awhile back but wasn’t too pleased with it cause twitter has a character limit) the point is that it’s just one more thing that makes Anders’ story so fascinating and so HEARTBREAKING for me because so much of what is true for him is true for Fenris and yet they handle it so differently.

Maybe it’s because Fenris can, at least in some ways, be “freed” from what hurt him (yes the markings and the TRAUMA will never leave him but he can live as a free man one day is the point I’m making) while Anders cannot. Justice is part of him, forever, he cannot escape. Maybe it’s just who they are as people, it’s probably both! Either way, it makes them so INTERESTING

But there you go! Somewhat rambley and not even scratching the surface of my love for Anders (and Fenris) but it’s a start!

Anders’ romance and friendship are unhealthy in my eyes, but they fascinate me because of what they say about Anders as a character and the tragic story that comes from both of them.

i know a lot of us make jokes that we’re “delusional” and sure, sometimes we might reach a little bit, but for the most part we’re just able to understand basic character analysis and understand which relationships work better and which don’t. it’s very simple and i actually think it’s wonderful that we’re able to notice and discuss these things instead of just taking what gets shoved in our faces and accepting it without question… like fiction is there to be analysed and that’s what makes it so much more meaningful and entertaining. looking deeper into the subtext and how characters behave and finding parallels in previous seasons… that’s what we’re supposed to do.

i also feel like people need to understand that just because something is canon doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better. sometimes the writers make decisions that just simply… aren’t good. just look at how they messed up game of thrones season 7 and 8 and how so many character arcs were rushed and destroyed. being an official writer on the show doesn’t always mean the writing is going to be the best. i’ve seen many shows where fans actually made better theories that made much more sense than what we actually got. but anyways, with mike and will, i don’t even think people have to analyse that much to be able to see that they have the closest and most genuine relationship on the show. anyone that pays attention just knows that they’re different to everyone else and they’re actually be able to be themselves around each other. the show has also focused on their relationship differently than all the other platonic relationships which suggests that there’s something more going on, and i’m not just talking about will being in love with mike (which is already confirmed), but i think mike could also reciprocate those feelings. in season 1 and 2, mike actually initiates most of their moments together and goes to will first. he has always treated will differently to everyone else and it’s obvious.

they’re two wonderful characters (i mean, mike hasn’t been the best recently but i guess we can blame the writers for that since he feels so out of character) and it’s no surprise that people are rooting for them to be in a relationship, especially when you know that they can only be themselves around each other and they’re so genuine. i talk about why their relationship is the best for so many reasons here and it also explains why so many people find comfort in them (and yes, it would be really nice and important to have a healthy queer ship represented too!). they have a relationship that so many of us would’ve loved to experience but never could. it’s not often that you get to have a childhood best friend (your first friend in fact) become your partner as you grow older. it’s always been one of my favourite tropes and i love slowburn and how the people in the relationship don’t realise how in love they are until they’re older. it’s even more fun when there’s angst in between and you think they won’t end up together but then they always end up making their way back to each other because that’s what soulmates do. i don’t know, i just think they have so much potential with byler here and after seeing season 4 and mike’s awkward behaviour towards will + the writing that contradicted things in the past and made absolutely no sense, i think byler is the only thing that’ll work at this point. there’s literally no explanation for some of the stuff we saw this season and mike’s monologue/love confession was full of lies and exaggeration, and if you go back and watch earlier seasons, you’ll know. not to mention, it was a direct response to will’s monologue/love confession which makes it clear that mike was actually responding to will’s feelings, just disguised as el. basically the whole thing is messy unless they clear it up and make byler canon lol

Okay. hear me out. hear me out. Just hear me out. I think they had more interesting potential than Duncney. To me, personally, Duncan is way way way more interesting when he's playing off someone worse than him, rather than when he's paired with someone more moral. Seeing him with characters like Alejandro or Mal will always interest me more that characters like Courtney or Zoey. But I digress, what I'm trying to say is that obviously he and Heather fit into the former category which makes them more interesting to me. The issue is that in most ways, Aleheather is just kinda, better. But Duncan and Heather have one thing Alejandro and Heather will never have: Duncan cheating with Heather would've made way more sense and been a way better storyline than he and Gwen. Also would've given Heather something to fuckin' DO in Action. Once again, Action drops the ball, and no one is surprised.

(And on the other end of the spectrum - Cotta in Schwarze Flecken and Hinter verschlossenen Türen is also (intentionally) ooc, the Cotta we see in canon definitely would not be the type to abuse his authority for sexual favors.)

Genuinely can't think of anything specific right now. What I do hate (and this extends into canon particularly) is Justus saying something fully reasonable, regular sentence lenght, no extremely unusual word choice, and another character (...usually Peter, I'm looking at you here, Marco) goes "can't you speak like a normal person?!"

hi. i think i've said before that i want to make a post like this soooo yeah here it is! get ready because this is gonna be a long post.

also before we get started, i just want to say that. um. i like to pretend that i know a lot about mbti, but i actually still don't know much about it, so if these characters' mbti types sound inaccurate, i chose them based on their letters and overall vibes jsksklsls also i just went on personality database, looked at some characters and was like "yeah my ocs would kin them"

also [2], the love languages part mentions how these characters like to show their love and affection and in this case it's mostly romantic, but they would show platonic love in almost the same way. and again, it's mostly romantic, except for asahi's part because he's a bit too young for that and also i see one of the characters being demiromantic + asexual, so their part is both romantic and platonic and mentions both their possible friend and their possible partner.

speaking of sexualities, i'm usually not a fan of assigning specific labels to my ocs because the way i see them changes all the time, so i just used they/them pronouns to refer to their partners and mentioned their gender preferences. it doesn't mean that they wouldn't date someone of a different gender, it's just there to show who they usually date. you can interpret their sexualities in any way you want, really, just don't ignore information about who they like in canon, like miki canonically being interested in boys, eiko dating a guy, etc. other than that, i'm cool with any headcanons, haha.

Akio: INTJ (I don't think I have to explain this one, it sounds a lot like him! I thought that maybe he also could be an INTP or an ISTJ, but I personally think he has more "Intuitive" and "Judging" vibes)

Aimi: ENFP (Look at her. She's an ENFP, your honor. She really wants to get along with everyone, but she can end up forgetting about her own needs sometimes and she's so optimistic and she wants to believe that there's good in all people so much that she refuses to accept that there was something wrong with the way her classmates treated her ;w;)

Shun: INFP (Again, I don't think I have to explain this one. Shun is very emotional and empathetic, but he also doesn't know how to connect with others and talk to them, he will do anything to make people he likes stay with him, he prefers to live in an imaginary world he created himself and it's hard for him to accept that the real world isn't perfect)

Naomi: ISFJ (Something about assigning this type to a confirmed child murderer is so funny djdkslsl. But yes, I think Naomi really is an ISFJ! Even though her crime is horrible, she really was a good teacher and she's a very supportive person who genuinely likes helping people, however, she often ends up repressing her feelings and not paying attention to her own well-being, which also was one of the reasons why she committed her crime)

Kei: ESFP (IT WAS SO HARD TO FIND A TYPE FOR HIM. Like, at first I thought he was an ENTP, then I thought that he's most likely an ESTP, but then I read about that type more and it didn't sound like him, even though he definitely has ESTP vibes, but.. I don't think Kei has that "Thinking" part? He doesn't like to think, he's way too emotional and he's not really a rational type, even though ESTPs like taking risks and they're just as bold and sociable as him. The thing is that I also thought about his pre-Milgram self and his T2 version too and.. yeah, even though Kei seems like he's more of a logical type (he's not that romantic, calls Eiji out for being just as cruel as him and he's pretty calm most of the time even though he's in prison, if you don't count his mood swings), he's actually much more emotional and him being a sensitive person who takes things too personally was one of the reasons why he decided to murder someone. Also I think Kei totally has those "easily bored" and "easily distracted" ESFP traits. He's a very artistic and creative person too even though his "art" is. terrifying so.. yeah, I think he's an ESFP)

Eiko: ESTJ (Again, it was so hard to understand what her MBTI would be. You see, I can't call Eiko an extravert, but I can't really call her an introvert either and her crime sounds like something a more emotional person would do, however, she's actually more of a logical type. I even took a test and answered the questions in the way that she would answer and I got ESTJ and.. I think it sounds like her? Like she talks a lot, she's pretty popular, but she's also very organized, likes to plan things and hates when something doesn't go as planned and she hates liars and people who are not competent or "perfect" enough. I actually thought she was an ESFJ at first, but again, she's more of a "Thinking" type)

Asahi: ISFP (?) (.. Asahi actually was the hardest character for me to figure out. I genuinely had no idea what his MBTI is. I didn't know if he's more of a logical or emotional person, since he does have those moments when it feels like he's smarter than some of the older characters, but he's also.. well, a kid. I also don't know if he's more of an extravert or an introvert, since Asahi does spend most of his time alone and claims that he doesn't need friends, but he actually does need them and wants to have them. And I imagine he would be much nicer if he actually had someone to talk to. (Again, he calls everyone his older siblings, so he does have a cute side) S-so.. yeah, maybe he's an ISFP?)

Yurika: ISFP (She was originally supposed to be a more extraverted person, but now I think she's more of an introvert. She just likes reading manga and watching anime and she doesn't need that many friends, but if someone wants to be friends with her and they're a good person, she'd love to talk to them more! She's a very sensitive person who has that warm and soft vibe, but she also gets stressed and overwhelmed easily and it actually can be surprisingly hard to predict her actions T1 Yurika and T2 Yurika may feel like two completely different people, but trust me, this is the same person)

Riku: ESFJ (I thought he was an ESFJ when I first created him and I still think he is one. The most popular boy in school (dw he really was popular and he's not like Akio or Asahi, people really did love him) who had his own band, had lots of friends and had such a good reputation that people actually were okay with him killing someone? Yeah, he gives off ESFJ vibes to me. Everyone sees Riku as this nice and caring boy who will do anything to help others, but the thing is that he's actually very scared of losing his popularity and he hates being criticized. It's ironic, really, he wants people to take care of him as much as he takes care of them, but he still can't stop helping them. Maybe he just likes to hear people saying "thank you" too much.)

Reina: ESFP (Yay, she's MBTI twins with Kei! I actually didn't think that much about her MBTI, like I looked at her and was like "Yeah, she seems like an ESFP to me". She likes to have fun, she had a lot of friends and loved to hang out with them, but she also can do some very dangerous things just to "have fun" when she's actually running away from her problems and she gets bored too quickly)

Eiji: ESTJ (Who knew that Eiko wants to become closer with him because they have the same MBTI? I don't think I should explain why I think Eiji is an ESTJ, like HE HAS THAT VIBE OKAY. Interestingly, I actually wasn't sure if Eiji is more of a "Thinking" or a "Feeling" type because he gets mad easily and it's hard for him to control his emotions, but the thing is that even though he does seem like someone who follows his heart and not his head, Eiji still can explain why he thinks all prisoners should be voted guilty, like he has proof and he simply thinks that no matter what kind of motive or backstory they had, they should be punished because they still are murderers)

Miki: INFP (LOOK AT HER. HER INFP VIBES ARE SO STRONG. Also this explains why she was able to relate to Shun during his interrogation, haha.)

Akio is very ambitious, he thinks that all people are either his rivals or loyal followers, he's very competitive, but he's actually extremely insecure and wants people to see his other qualities too and not just his intelligence. He also secretly wishes to find a way to express himself and his emotions, but he's too scared of people judging him for being "not good enough". No matter how much others tell him that he should take a break, he won't. His main instinct is self-preservation, since he acts like that mostly to protect himself and because, well, maybe if he keeps acting so confident, he will become confident for real one day?)

Aimi: 2w3 (so/sp) (SHE JUST WANTS TO MAKE FRIENDS.. Aimi is very nice and friendly, but she tends to forget about her own needs way too often and she refuses to accept that other people may actually dislike her or even hate her. And even if they do, well, maybe she just needs to do something for them to make them like her? She really wants someone to tell her that she's a good person who is nice to have around. Since she also has a Type 3 wing, Aimi really needs attention and maybe she even wants to be admired in some way. She's also very concerned with her self-image, since she's afraid of being hated.)

Shun: 2w3 (sx/so) (He shares a type with Aimi! His reasons are almost the same, except for Shun it's more about romantic relationships and him wanting to be loved in that way. Also, surprisingly, Shun actually does have a self-preservation instinct! Again, him forgetting things all the time is related to him wanting to protect himself from all the bad memories and all the stress)

Naomi: 1w9 (sp/sx) (Someone who's afraid of doing something wrong, wants to be voted guilty, but also can sometimes think that everyone around her is wrong, while she's the only one who's right.. Yeah, sounds like Type 1. I'd have to describe her backstory to explain why she definitely feels like Type 1, so just know that it's related to her and Shun's "Expectations" theme. But yeah, Naomi is a lot more perfectionistic than she seems. Her Type 9 wing shows her more soft and calm side that she usually shows to the other prisoners and the guards. She hopes everyone will get along and she's always here to help, like I've mentioned before, if someone is too scared or shy to ask guards for something, she will do it herself. Her main instinct is self-preservation, since even though Naomi is very calm and sweet most of the time, if someone treats her badly, she will not tolerate it and she will stand up for herself.)

Kei: 7w8 (sx/sp) (Yeah, Kei definitely feels like Type 7 to me. Playful, fun-loving, does what he wants.. I find it interesting how Type 7's main fear is "to be in pain", meanwhile Kei says that pain is the best expression of love. However, when he says that, he just means that it's okay for him to hurt someone and say that it's just him showing his love and he's not a fan of being in pain himself. Actually, it's kinda like a coping mechanism to him and if someone hurts him, he just likes to think that they're doing it to show how much they love him. Type 8 sounds a lot like him as well, or to be more exact, his more sadistic side: domineering, controlling and assertive. And again, someone who's afraid of being harmed and controlled by others. His main instincts really show just how much he needs to feel connected to someone and he really hates being alone. Eiji and Miki almost never see Kei just spending time alone by himself, he's always talking to someone. He will even try to become friends with the younger prisoners, as long as it means he will get at least some attention)

Eiko: 9w8 (sx/sp) (I actually wasn't sure about her type at first, but I think it kinda makes sense? It's not like Eiko is actually a "peacemaker" type of person, but she really is chill and she just does whatever she wants without worrying about anything. She just wants to see how the things will go and that's it. However, her Type 8 wing also shows that she's just as capable of being as violent as Kei and she won't let anyone control her. Also, I should mention that even though her main instincts are sexual and social, her self-preservation instinct isn't that bad. All of her instincts work pretty well, she's just a very sociable kind of person, so she simply doesn't show the self-preservation instinct that often)

Asahi: 7w6 (sp/sx) (Asahi doesn't sound like Type 7 at first, but if you think about it, he actually has a lot of Type 7 traits: he doesn't like being deprived of something, wants to feel satisfied and content, he's afraid of missing out on something, he's very impatient and impulsive and acts like an undisciplined kind of person. He can't say no to himself and doesn't know when to stop. He also has a Type 6 wing, which shows that Asahi actually has a lot of anxiety inside and he really needs someone's support and guidance. When he doesn't have it (and he doesn't have it right now, since he doesn't know that Miki is his sister and Naomi refuses to act like his mother figure, also most prisoners don't really like him..), he shows his rude and arrogant side to express his emotions and protect himself. Self-preservation is his main instinct and social is his second main instinct: he really hates to admit it, but he really does feel very lonely most of the time)

Yurika: 7w6 (sp/sx) (LISTEN. THESE TWO ARE ACTUALLY SO ALIKE.. Yurika hates not feeling satisfied with something, she probably hates it even more than Asahi. Her personality is much softer than you'd expect from Type 7, but she's got the same desires and motivations as you'd expect from a person with that enneagram type: she wants her life to be fun and exciting, she often feels like she's missing out on something and she wants to be happy literally all the time and hates feeling anything that is not happiness. She also has a Type 6 wing, which fits her a lot because sure, Yurika wants her life to be fun and full of happy moments, but she doesn't actually want to do anything herself to achieve that. She desperately needs someone's support, she wants someone to tell her what to do, no, actually, it would be even better if that someone did everything for her. And Yurika can actually be a very responsible and hard-working person, but only if she feels like she has a valid reason to do all that work. She also can't stand any pressure and she has no idea how to cope with stress. Self-preservation is her main instinct and she would do anything to protect herself)

Riku: 3w2 (so/sx) (Energetic, knows how to make people like him, charismatic, but also constantly worries about what other people think of him, feels like he has to pretend to be stronger than he is and wants people to leave him alone while still wanting to be the center of attention. Yeah, that's Riku. He's very talented and people really do like him, but he often feels like people like only his fake self and not the real one. However, he still wants to be loved and praised, so he continues to act like that. Of course, he didn't want to spend all these years trying to help his toxic friend, but other people had told him how kind and patient he is.. and he liked to hear that. He has a Type 2 wing because he's a very warm and understanding person (at least on the outside) who wants to be loved and taken care of, but he just can't stop forgetting about his own needs and doing too much for others and too little for himself. And when he gets too tired of something.. yeah, he snaps. Obviously, his main instinct is social, but his second main instinct is self-preservation since, you know, he committed his crime exactly because he felt like he needs to save himself from all of this.)

Reina: 9w1 (so/sx) (The most "evil" prisoner here has a Type 1 wing.. Ironic, isn't it? <3 So, her main type is Type 9, which is very interesting to think about if you remember her MV and her relationship with her friends. Type 9 people are very supportive, understanding and they just want everyone to be happy, but they also can easily start just going along with everything other people say, so that there won't be any problems and arguments. They also tend to ignore or simplify any problems and they just don't like thinking about bad things.. Sounds a lot like someone who actually didn't enjoy robbing people, getting into fights and stuff like that, but didn't want to say anything because she was too afraid to disappoint her friends. It hurts me even more to think about her crime because Type 9's main fear is "loss and separation" and that's exactly what happened after her murder :') And about her Type 1 wing.. Don't you think she's a bit too desperate to be voted guilty? Reina constantly calls herself a villain and says that she's evil, but when other people forgive her, she refuses to accept that. How can she accept that when she believes she deserves to be punished? I don't think I have to explain her main instinct because of how much she didn't want to leave her friends.)

Eiji: 8w7 (sp/sx) (Did I make his enneagram like that so that it could look like he's the opposite of Kei but is still similar to him in some way?.. Maybe. But I really do think it sounds a lot like him! Honestly, I feel like Eiji is like.. a textbook definition of Type 8, haha :'D Like yeah, we get it, you like to be in charge, you want everyone to think that you're strong and powerful, we get it. As for his Type 7 wing, tbh I went with it mostly because I know that he doesn't have any Type 9 traits so 👍 But I think he actually does have a lot of Type 7 traits, like he's very passionate about what he likes, he hates it when he doesn't get what he wants and he's also deeply unhappy on the inside, but prefers to hide it while using his, uh, not the most healthy coping mechanisms (which include almost killing people in the process of punishing them). Also a reminder that Eiji and Kei act like each other's past selves/other sides of their personalities, so <3 Yeah, another reason for them to have enneagrams like that. Self-preservation is his most dominant instinct for, uh.. obvious reasons, I think, and sexual instinct is his least dominant one simply because I think his social instinct is more strong and because from what I've read, the descriptions of that subtype don't really sound like him? Sure, Eiji is assertive and even violent, but I wouldn't say he's possessive or that he cares about close and more "personal" relationships that much, at least not right now, when he has so many criminals to punish.. Though Kei's behavior implies that Eiji actually cared about relationships like that a lot in the past, though it was most likely just him being, well, a teenager. Also Eiji wasn't as bad as Kei)

Miki: 9w1 (so/sp) (I did not expect to see her sharing an enneagram with Reina of all people (though their instincts are different), but here we are. I wasn't sure if I see Miki as Type 2 or Type 9, but then I thought about it more and.. I think she's more of a Type 9? Since Miki doesn't really care about feeling loved and needed, like sure, she goes crazy when any cute guy compliments her or asks something from her, but it's not an important part of her personality. Miki cares about everyone's well-being much more and she just wants to make sure everyone is doing okay, she hates conflicts and always tries to help others, though her methods aren't always the best (like for example, she literally agreed to give Riku a knife when he asked for it). I went with 1 as her wing, which may sound weird because of how easily she forgives everyone, but.. that's just how her moral compass works. And she will do anything to protect the people who she sees as innocent and if she's feeling confident enough, she will even fight for what she thinks is right. Of course, her social instinct is the most dominant one because of how much she cares about others and her self-preservation instinct is the least dominant one because of her forgetting about her own needs in the process.)

Akio.

Gender preference: Men (He really was in a relationship with his accomplice/follower and he also likes Riku (mostly because he reminds him a lot of his accomplice).. though he doesn't like him back.)

Giving:

Words of affirmation. Listen, if Akio really likes someone, that means they deserve to be praised by him. Sure, most of the time his "words of affirmation" just sound like "Hm, not bad" or "You did okay", but if it's coming from someone like him, those words mean a lot. Even if it's just him telling that person that what they did "wasn't bad", in his "language" it basically means that he's okay with marrying them right now. And if he's feeling more comfortable, he can actually tell that person that they did a good job, but only if there's no one else around. And yes, he will say that they should be grateful for hearing that from him.

Physical touch. Now, this one might be a bit sudden, but Akio is actually surprisingly affectionate. And most of the time he doesn't even notice that. Usually it's something like him patting his partner on the head and going "You did well, good job" or him playing with their hair while being too focused on his book to pay attention to what he's doing right now. His face becomes completely red when he does notice it, but if he's already dating that person, he won't stop doing it, he'll just be a bit more shy about it. And again, if there's no one else around, he's okay with holding that person's hand or giving them a hug.

Receiving:

Words of affirmation. Yes, he wants to be praised back too! Of course, he knows how great he is, but.. Um, it would be nice to hear that from his partner too.. Seriously, if you want to make him feel better, all you have to do is just compliment him in some way and he will melt and turn into a puddle right after he hears it. Aimi.

Gender preference: None. She likes everyone!

Quality time. If you are going on a date with her, she will make that date as memorable as possible! She will plan everything, she will ask you lots of questions about your preferences, what you like to do for fun, etc. Her s/o will never get bored with her and going somewhere with Aimi is always fun and exciting. She will do anything to make her s/o smile and she wants them to know that.

Words of affirmation. She wants her s/o to know how much they mean to her, so she will tell them that every single day! It doesn't matter what her partner does, she will always think it's amazing and she will always praise them for their hard work. Aimi is used to hearing bad things about herself and people laughing at her and she really needs her s/o to remind her that she's a wonderful person who deserves to be loved and have friends. Words like that can actually make her cry a bit because she's so used to being bullied and her family members being the only people who are nice to her, she almost never hears a compliment from anyone else. Hearing a compliment from someone who's so important to her and hearing how much they love her means the world to her.

Acts of service. As someone who often ends up falling and/or injuring herself, Aimi needs someone who can help her when that happens or prevent that from happening. (Though if it's something related to his s/o, he most likely won't forget about it anyway) Ah, and if they're not the tallest person, Shun will be there to get anything they're not able to reach, haha.

Physical touch. This might be surprising, but Shun really is very physically affectionate. He almost always does it on accident or when he just wants to show how much he loves his s/o, but doesn't know how to do it. He actually really likes to hug his partner, cuddle with them or simply hold their hand, but he also doesn't want them to feel uncomfortable and he will always make sure they're okay with what he's doing.

He really needs someone who can be there to remind him about something that he forgot and someone who can take care of him when he's not able to do that because of his mental state or, again, because he forgot about it. It can be very hard for Shun to find energy to do anything sometimes, so it would be nice if his partner could help him with doing chores or go and buy something that Shun needs. And sometimes just being there to comfort him is already enough.

Gifts. If his partner gives Shun literally anything, he will treasure it, he will put it in his room and he will look at it every time he wakes up. Seriously, getting gifts from his s/o would make him so happy, he would literally cry if that happens. If it's something small, he will carry it with him everywhere and think of it as something that can bring him good luck and if it's something like a necklace or a bracelet or anything like that, he will start wearing it all the time. He would actually sleep with it so that he won't forget to put it on when he wakes up.

Naomi.

Gender preference: To be honest, I kinda see her being demiromantic (and asexual), so if she actually does fall in love with someone, I don't think their gender would matter to her at all.

Words of affirmation. Naomi often says how nice and kind other people are, but it's usually just her being polite. But if she compliments someone she truly loves, they have to know that she's being sincere this time and she actually does think that they're amazing. Her smile looks a bit warmer when she does so and it doesn't look like she's pretending at all. She's not really the type to compliment her friends or partner often, but when she does so, she will make sure they remember her words.

Acts of service. She's kinda the mom friend of the group already, so it's no wonder that she would have the same role in a romantic or a very strong platonic relationship. She often feels tired because of her work, so it would be really nice if her friend/partner could help her when she's too exhausted and overworked to do anything. This woman has noticeable eyebags and it's not because she has that "older woman charm" she's literally only 30, it's because she gets like two or three hours of sleep every night 😭

Gifts. She can't explain why, but for some reason she really likes gifts. Maybe it's because when she looks at something she got from her friend/partner, she understands that they actually looked at this thing and went "Oh, Naomi will love this", like, it reminded them of her and she thinks it's very cute. She loves both handmade and bought gifts equally, since it still means that this person made/bought this for Naomi to make her happy. And they did a great job, because it really did make her happy.

Kei.

Gender preference: None (he canonically finds both Eiko and Shun attractive and his muse was a guy)

Giving:

Physical touch. Kei is extremely physically affectionate and he also loves PDA. He just really wants everyone to know that his partner belongs to him and that's all. He's okay with literally any form of physical affection, if his s/o prefers something more "cute", he's always there to hug them and it's rare to see him not holding their hand, but he also would love it if his s/o wanted more than that. So yeah, if someone wants to date Kei, they have to be prepared for all that, but surprisingly, if they say that they're not comfortable with something.. Kei will actually understand. Sure, he is sadistic even when it comes to his s/o, no, especially when it comes to his s/o, considering that he believes "pain=love", but if they say that they're not into that kind of stuff, he actually will try being softer with them. He is a criminal who takes pictures of people getting tortured, but if his s/o is a bit more fragile than he expected, he will be careful. Being more gentle can be a way to express love too.

Gifts. This one is probably more unexpected, but Kei actually is the type of person to spoil his partner. He remembers everything about what they like and he will try his best to get that for them. And he rarely has trouble with that, he has both money and connections. He doesn't wait for any special occasion, he just sees something that his s/o would like and gets it for them. And yes, he almost always buys gifts for them, he just thinks handmade gifts are not enough to show how much he loves them.. or so he says. Listen, he can take some pretty photos and give them to you as a gift, but when it comes to other handmade gifts.. he's actually terrible at making them. He really wishes he could draw, sew, cook, etc, but he just can't do it. So he hopes that buying something pretty for them is enough.

Physical touch. When it comes to physical touch, he likes to both give and receive, though he almost never says anything about liking to receive it too. He's just used to being more dominant, haha. And this might be unexpected, but what absolutely will make Kei blush is his partner asking him if it's okay for them to hug him, kiss him, hold his hand, etc. He can't control it too, so he really hates when that happens, he's the one who's supposed to make his partner's face become red, not the other way around! Hm? Why does he react like that?.. Well, people rarely ask him for consent, so..

Quality time. Kei loves to have fun and he never dates anyone if they're too boring for him. He would love a partner who can make him laugh or show him something that he's never seen before, even though that's probably not possible, this guy had to travel a lot in the past. Kei is actually a very curious type of person and he loves to learn more about the world when he's not in his "let me put my rose-colored glasses on" mood, so if his s/o is very smart, he would surely have a lot of fun with them. Who knows, maybe they'll be able to see Kei smiling and being happy for real.

Eiko.

Gender preference: Men (she dated a guy and flirted with Shun before she found out that he's "taken" and left him alone)

Physical touch. The "Idealization" duo really loves physical affection and they're always here to give it. Eiko loves to give surprise hugs and kisses to her s/o and she loves to see their reaction every time, she never gets bored of it. If you're dating Eiko, expect physical affection to be a big part of your relationship, because as I've said before, Eiko and Mahiru are kinda similar in some way (both are the sixth prisoners and both their crimes have to do something with love), but I think that Eiko is more "direct" with the way she expresses love, like it's hard to describe her love as something soft and romantic: she doesn't write love letters, she doesn't shower her s/o with compliments, she doesn't make cute playlists for them, she just goes "Okay, you're pretty, here's a kiss". She's also very impatient and she thinks there's no reason to be more "careful" with her s/o when she starts dating them: she thinks they already should be prepared for any affection she's gonna throw at them.

Quality time. But hey, she wants this relationship to be fun! So if Eiko is the one who comes up with the date, she will do everything to make it as memorable and perfect as she can. Of course, she wants to enjoy this date, but she wants her partner to enjoy it too, so she will make sure they love it as well. Eiko has a really good memory, so she remembers everything about her s/o's preferences, interests and hobbies and she will keep them in mind when she plans another date. And even if she and her partner are not on a date and they're just walking somewhere, she will still try to make it feel just as exciting.

Gifts. She really likes getting gifts, there's just something nice about it. Like, considering where her parents work, she can actually get anything she wants, but getting something from a person she loves without even asking for it.. It just feels special. Asahi.

Yes, it's been said many times that Asahi is never satisfied (that's literally his T1 song's title) with anything and he always wants more, but if he actually likes someone.. fine, maybe he can share with them. He will try his best to learn more about their likes and dislikes and if that person says something like "Oh, I really wish I had this thing..", Asahi will actually try to get it for them. He wouldn't give it to them in person though, that's too embarrassing.. But if that person really likes their gift, he will try to be more brave and he will give something to them in person next time. He will never make something for them himself though, he can only buy things in an ideal situation where his adoptive father doesn't hate him (i mean he has a valid reason for that).

Quality time. That's something he would do only for those people he's very, very close with, but still, it is something he would absolutely do for those he cares about. If he sees that his friend is sad, he will actually try to cheer them up and go somewhere with them, like an amusement park, a cinema, an aquarium, etc. They don't even have to be sad, Asahi will just invite them to go with him because he can. But because this kid is very awkward and has no idea how to express affection, his invitation will sound like "Um. So. Uh. You and me are going to that place tomorrow. That's it. You can't say no, by the way." Please don't say no to him he will literally cry if that happens he's trying his best okay

Words of affirmation. Asahi's biological father was.. well, not a good man. He's never called him by his real name, he hated him that much. Out of all the parent figures he ever had, his adoptive mother was the only one who was nice to him not counting his imaginary mom , but still, Asahi felt like she doesn't like him for who he is, she just likes him because he's a child and she's always wanted to have one. So hearing a compliment or two would make Asahi so happy, even though he wouldn't show it. It's possible that when Asahi becomes a bit older, his self-esteem will get much lower because no one has ever praised him or liked him for his personality. And when he grows up or simply becomes a teenager, he won't have the one "redeeming quality" of his anymore: being a cute child who's allowed to do anything. Asahi is actually a bit scared of growing up because he knows that when that will happen, he won't be "cute" anymore.

Gifts. One of the reasons why Asahi constantly feels like he's not getting enough of something is because he's a very unlucky child: both his real parents and adoptive mother is dead (even though he killed her himself) and his adoptive father will never forgive him for his crime. That's too much for someone who's so young. So he's just afraid that if he gets something good now, he will never get it later, so maybe he should just ask people for as many good things as they can give him. That's why gifts mean so much to him, and if it's something that he didn't ask for, but still ends up liking, that gift becomes even more important to him. He just wants to feel like maybe there's a chance that he won't have to worry about losing everything that makes him happy and that maybe he will actually feel even more happy in the future.

Yurika.

Gender preference: Women (yes, she really did have a crush on her manager i wish i could say that she's into milfs but her boss wasn't that old)

Physical touch. Yurika is very physically affectionate and she's definitely one of those prisoners who give the best hugs. When she sees her partner, her whole face lights up and she runs to them to hug them or give them a kiss. She hates letting go of her partner's hand and she goes >:( when her s/o says that they should stop acting like this in public. Wait, her s/o being so shy is actually kinda cute.. And if her s/o is just as affectionate as her, that's it, they and Yurika will become that annoying lovey-dovey couple who never shut up about each other and never stop looking into each other's eyes when they're together.

Quality time. Well, uh, if Yurika still was a rich kid who can just ask her parents for money, she would visit much cooler places with her s/o, but. Um. They kicked her out, so she can't really do much right now, but she will still try her best to make every date fun and exciting. Her s/o doesn't even have to go anywhere with her, just staying home is already good, they can always watch, play or read something together. Ah, and if her s/o doesn't have the same hobbies as her, for example, they aren't into anime/manga or they're not much of a gamer, she will try to come up with something they can also enjoy. Their happiness means everything to her.

Gifts. Listen. Again, she can't just call her parents and go "Hiiii, can you please buy this for me, thank youuuu &lt;3", like, there's a reason why they kicked her out. So, um, it would be nice if her s/o could get those things for her instead 👉👈 Most of the time Yurika already knows what she wants, so she tries to drop hints and if her partner gets her the things she wanted even before she says anything, it will make her even more happy. It would make an even better surprise if her partner decided to get a gift for her even without any hints, like they just saw something and they thought that Yurika would like it.

Acts of service. This is also connected to her being an ex-rich kid: it's hard for Yurika to do some things without anyone's help and now she has to learn how to do them for the first time. She would be really happy if her s/o could help her and.. haha.. maybe do those things for her.. Fine, fine, she's willing to learn how to do them, she just hopes her partner can be there for her in case she does something wrong or makes a mistake and has no idea how to fix it. Gender preference: Women (he had a girlfriend and he also finds Miki cute, though it's hard to say if he really does like her or just enjoys manipulating her)

If his s/o can't sleep, he would be okay with them calling him in the middle of the night (yes, he's a hypocrite, he doesn't get enough sleep either and he uses makeup not only to express himself, but to hide dark circles under his eyes) and he can even try to sing a lullaby for them to (hopefully) help them fall asleep.

Receiving:

Words of affirmation. Of course, Riku needs compliments too. He loves hearing them from his bandmates, classmates or fans, but hearing something like that from his partner would make his day and he wouldn't be able to focus on anything after that because of how happy he's feeling. Even if it's something as simple as them telling him that his new song is great or they like how his hair looks, that's it, he will stand there and try to process what they just said and after he's done, he will giggle and say that it's nothing special. But sometimes, when Riku is not feeling well, he can shyly ask his s/o if they can say something nice to him to help him feel better. It's not much, but it can actually make him smile even when he's not feeling like smiling at all.

Acts of service. He just wants someone to take care of him too.. No matter how hard Riku tries to stay perfect in everyone's eyes, this guy is a mess and he needs someone who can be patient with him and understand that this guy has his bad days too and that it's hard for him to stay cheerful all the time. You see, most of the time Riku actually has no reason to take care of himself at all. Sure, he can do that to look better in front of his classmates and friends, but if he's not going to school or planning to meet up with his friends.. what's the point? So it's very easy to find him lying on the floor in his room and trying to come up with a new song and when you ask him if he even ate anything today, he just blankly stares at you and goes "No, but I did my makeup though :D"

Reina.

Gender preference: Women (this is a much more subtle example, but Reina did mention in her interrogation that she likes Yurika and thinks she's cute. She doesn't go into details though)

Giving:

Quality time. It's hard to get bored with someone like Reina: this girl always has some cool (and not so safe) ideas to spend time together and you never know what she might try to do next time. A simple date in the park is not her style at all and she will try to come up with something much more exciting and unique. And if anything goes wrong, she doesn't care about her safety, but she will do anything to protect her partner and make sure they're okay. And, uh, if they prefer more chill and "normal" dates.. Fine, maybe Reina can try to get used to that. She doesn't guarantee that this date will be 100% safe though, who knows, maybe her enemies will find her and she will have to fight them while also having to protect her partner and- It's okay, she's just nervous and afraid that they will find this date too boring.

Gifts. She loves to get cool things for her s/o and she tries to get gifts for them as often as she can. She knows everything about what they like, but also sometimes she just sees something cute and goes "Oh, maybe they will like it?" and gets it for them. She's also very scared of her s/o not liking it and getting mad at her though Just never ask where she got all these things from. She just has her connections, okay, she knows her stuff, she knows how to get- She stole them. Yes. No, she wants her partner to keep them. They deserve it more than the person she stole them from anyway. And if she stole them from a store, well, it's other people's fault for not buying these things.

Receiving:

Acts of service. She would never admit it, but Reina does get tired sometimes and she would be happy if her s/o could take care of her when that happens and not judge her. Yes, even such a great villain like her can have bad days, what's wrong with that? Sometimes she just doesn't want to do anything and she's too lazy to get out of bed, so she would love it if her partner could be there for her.

Physical touch. Again, she would never admit it, but Reina absolutely loves physical affection and she would love it if her s/o was a type to give her that kind of affection often. She really likes being hugged, especially if her partner is taller than her, and she can actually start blushing if her s/o holds her hand. She will deny everything and she will go "No, you don't understand, I'm just sick, okay, I've got a fever, that's why I'm so red-". But as we all know, Reina is a terrible liar.. and a terrible actor. I love her name meaning so much AND IF HER S/O DECIDES TO CARRY HER IN THEIR ARMS SHE WILL LITERALLY DIE

Eiji.

Gender preference: Women (.. fine, maybe he does find Eiko pretty.)

Giving:

Acts of service. Even though he may not look like it, Eiji would actually be a very caring boyfriend. Sure, he is still a cruel and merciless prison guard, but when it comes to someone he really does care about, he may actually show his kinder side to them. If someone asks him about it, he will say something like "Shut up, I'm doing this only because they're too lazy to do it without my help", but if there's no one else around, he will do anything his s/o might need help with, no questions asked, especially if they're sick or not feeling so good mentally. He's used to being a more hardworking and responsible brother even though he's the younger one, so it's not hard for him at all. If it means he'll be able to help his s/o this way, it may actually make him feel kinda excited and if they're lucky, maybe they will see him smiling while he's cleaning their room or cooking for them.

Words of affirmation. Eiji may look like your stereotypical tsundere boy, but if he actually likes someone, he will let them know that. He may (lovingly) call them an idiot one or two times, but if they call themself an idiot, he will make them take their words back and admit that they're the smartest person Eiji knows. Maybe he just doesn't want his s/o to feel any kind of pain, doesn't matter if it's physical or mental, he knows what it's like and he would never want them to go through any of that. He's not that good at giving compliments and he gets a bit nervous when it comes to that, so he'll just go "Um. You did great. Bye", but he really wishes he could say more. And it's possible that when he starts feeling more comfortable around his s/o, he will finally be able to become more open and honest about his feelings for them.

Receiving:

Acts of service. Just like some other characters, Eiji likes to both give and receive acts of service. It can be a bit hard and even painful for him to do things sometimes, after all, his body is still almost covered in bandages and not without a reason. So it could be nice if his s/o could help him when it gets too tiring for him. Also, if his partner really does help him, he may feel a bit.. like, he's sorry for wasting their time like this. He hates being this weak and he hates the fact that he needs to take breaks so often, so his s/o needs to help him work on that and understand that he's not a burden to them at all.

Physical touch. Like Reina, he would rather die than admit that he likes it, but he's extremely touch-starved and it doesn't help that sometimes physical touch can be painful for him because of how weak his body is. But if his s/o is gentle and careful enough, he will be this close to literally melting because of their touch. Even if it's something as simple as playing with his hair, he will already start blushing and covering his face with his hands.

Miki.

Gender preference: Men (IT'S LITERALLY IN HER PROFILE)

Giving:

Acts of service. Miki wants to be a helpful girlfriend!! She wants to be able to help her partner out with anything they might need help with! She wants her s/o to trust her more and just leave everything to her. If it's for someone she loves, she will do anything. Also, she's kinda used to taking care of others, so.. Ah, don't mind that. She's not exactly good at cooking though, so if it's anything related to that, she most likely won't be able to help.. She can try to get better at it though! Actually, if it's anything else that she's not really good at, Miki will try to get better at it, so that she can help her partner with it in the future. Or maybe they can learn together!

Words of affirmation. She absolutely can't allow her partner to be as insecure as her, so she will try her best to help them with their self-esteem! She's a bit shy, but if she sees her partner not having the best day, she will tell them that they've done their best and that's all that matters. If her s/o really has a very low self-esteem, she will be so surprised when she finds out about it because in her eyes they're so amazing, so talented, so smart, how can they not see that? So she will tell them exactly that! She can't let the person she loves the most to suffer from the same problems she suffers.

Receiving:

Words of affirmation. She wants to hear some compliments too! She's terrible at handling them though.. So if her s/o says anything like "You're pretty" or "You're smart", she will go "SFHDJHFHJDKJDFDLSHJDSK?????". And then she will probably just.. fall on the ground while still losing her mind. Miki has never had any friends before and her parents weren't exactly kind to her and her grandparents are the only people who ever were nice to her (Though they mostly just didn't have a choice, they couldn't let her become an orphan), so if her s/o shows her any kindness, she will literally cry. She doesn't know how else to react to that.

Gifts. She just thinks it would be nice to receive a gift from her partner, haha.. She would never tell them anything though because she's too shy. She wouldn't even tell them their birthday simply because her thought process would be like "Wait.. If we're dating.. And they're asking me about my birthday... Oh no.. IT MEANS THEY WANT TO CELEBRATE IT?? THEY WANT TO GET A GIFT FOR ME?? NO NO NO I CAN'T LET THEM WASTE THEIR MONEY JUST TO GET SOMETHING FOR ME" But if they still somehow find information about what Miki likes, her birthday, etc and get/make a gift for her..
