Chasing Pasts in Shadows
part 1 | part 2 | part 3
please pay attention to the tags, there's some heavy stuff going on
Mr Reyes was a balding, rotund man in his fifties, who greeted them, showed them around the garden like a realtor and finally invited them into the parlour (A parlour!) to have some tea. Will was currently sat on the long couch with Mike crowding him in towards the right armrest and eyeing the plates suspiciously and worrying the rip in his black jeans . Max took the armchair nearer Mike, picking up one of the sandwiches. Mr Reyes took the last armchair, settling in with a sigh. “Oof. Bad knees, these days. I'm not as young as I was, back in the eighties,” he chuckled, “but you kids don't have to worry about that yet, hmm? I should hope not. Well, take whatever you’d like to eat and you can ask away,” He leant back into the plush of the chair.
Will nodded and reached in for a grape. ”Mr Reyes, before we start, if at any point of time you feel uncomfortable answering questions, do let us know. We want to know as much as possible about the case but not at the cost of your mental health. Do you understand?”
“I do.”
“Good. Max, hand over the recorder, please.”
Max passed it to Mike. Will reached out for it, electricity racing up when his hand briefly brushed against Mike’s. He fought down a shiver, clicking it on and placing it on the middle of the table, among the delicately arranged sandwiches, fresh fruit and cheese and crystal glasses of sparkling water. “Just say your name and age, we’ll take care of the rest.”
“Javier Reyes and 53.”
“Mr Reyes, you called us to investigate some disturbances in, um, your house. Could you please elaborate?” Will asked, chewing on his grape. It was delicious.
“Oh, what do you want to know about?”
“When did they first start?”
“About 10 months ago, I was in the kitchen to get a drink, I think, at 2 am in the morning, because the mini fridge in my room had broken down a few days ago. The entire house had blown a fuse, and some of my appliances short circuited before the fuse. Old faulty circuitry in an old house. So, I was getting a beer from the refrigerator, when the chandelier started swinging, just enough to be visibly moving. I thought nothing of it, going back to bed. Things progressively went worse from there,” Mr Reyes said. Will could see his fingers clenching hard.
“Worse how?” Max asked, reaching for another plate of sandwiches. “These are delicious, by the way.”
“I’m glad, Ms. Mayfield,” Mr Reyes smiled, his eyes losing a bit of their edge. “About your question, well, it didn't get bad right away. At first, it was swinging chandeliers, knives out of the wooden block, on the island or just my phone dying even if I charged it all night,” Mike, Max and Will glanced at each other. What the fuck? Mike mouthed silently.
Just keep listening, Max mouthed back.
Mr Reyes didn't notice their little conversation, continuing, “then I started finding the knives in increasingly weird places, like the library, behind a book I was thinking of reading, in the bath where I could have cut my foot on it, once I found a meat cleaver on the bedside table. I couldn't sleep again for the rest of that night,” Mr Reyes cut off, shivering. Will felt like it, too. Meat cleavers near his head? Will would run, screaming and never looking back.
“Are you okay, Mr Reyes? We can take a break if you like,” Will asked.
“No, no, it’s fine, it’s relieving to get this off my chest. I was so happy when I saw the Facebook ad,”
The what? Facebook? What the fuck was Lucas doing?
“If you are sure,” Will nodded.
“I heard footsteps, first on the floors above or below me, then it got closer, I heard it outside in the hallways, in the room adjacent to the one I'm in, and it always walks towards me. They start silent, barely audible, getting louder and louder til I'm sure there’s someone on the other side. Just there, looking, standing, staring. It’s gotten even closer since the last few days,” Mr Reyes' face was frozen in an expression of confused terror. Will felt sorry for the man. Mr Reyes seemed so optimistic, so happy. No one would ever think he was going through a horror film all the time.
Mr Reyes went on. “The footsteps are always coming from where I can’t see. I was making and eating dinner the day before, when the dreaded sounds came up, thud, thud, thud, behind me,” Mike inched closer to Will, a movement so minute, Will would have missed it if he wasn’t attuned to every single part of Mike. “I whipped around, sure I’d see the intruder, a squatter or something, but there was no one. Nothing. I decided I’d call someone, maybe a priest to have a look around the next morning. I threw away the rotting pb&j full of maggots-”
“Wait, rotting pb&j?” Mike asked, perplexed.
“Oh, yeah. It's been happening for some time but food goes bad the moment I take my eyes off them. It rots away like it's been sitting there for days. Liquified and maggots crawling through them,” Max set her plate of sandwiches down, a bit green in the face. “I'm not sure how that is happening, but I don't eat here anymore, my friends take me out for meals.”
“Mr Reyes,” What the fuck, Will asked, “Do you have any other place to stay for a while? All of this sounds like it’s very intense for you-”
“Oh no, Mr Byers, I can’t leave this place, not after- not after my dear Emily…” Mr Reyes choked up. “I can’t bear to leave this place, no. If I stay over at a friend’s, she won't come to me. She talks with me in my dreams, asks me how I am, we do things we normally do, like cooking together, reading in the library, kissing me, but if I don't come home, Emily doesn't come to me, only the sound of footsteps, getting closer,” A tear dropped down Mr Reyes’ face. Will felt unsettled. The things he was describing did sound like a true haunting, but what if it wasn't?
“Mr Reyes, I think it'd be good for you to take a stroll in the garden, get a breath of fresh air,” Will spoke up. “I insist.”
Mr Reyes slumped, breathing heavily. “Alright,” He said, after staring at his shoes, for what seemed like an eternity, “I'll take a short walk outside,”
Will turned back to the others the moment he left. “How are you guys holding up? If this case is true, it'd would be the biggest one yet, financially and paranormally,”
Max looked at Will. “You don’t believe him, do you?”
“It’s not that, I suspect other things as well,”
“Will,” Mike said, so softly near his ear, Will nearly jumped out of his skin. “I don’t think he's lying,”
“What do you mean?”
“Max, you can feel it right? It’s so heavy around him, It is coming off in waves,” Mike stared at the door Mr Reyes exited from.
“It’s still here though,” Max said. “If he was being haunted, then the intensity of the energy would cease the moment he left, but it didn’t.”
“But it’s different, they are not similar,”
“You mean there are more than one entities in this house?”
“It doesn't have to be an entity, Byers, it can be a object with history as well,”
“But this doesn't feel like an object, it feels separate,” Mike sighed loudly. “I don't understand.”
“So I was way off when I thought it was schizophrenia.”
“You thought it was schizophrenia? Have we not done this shit like a thousand times?”
“Well, sue me, I was thinking of his mental health, Max. It has happened before, when it was just El, Mike and me.”
“Okay, okay, Max, calm down, Will can’t feel the traces so it’s not his fault. Will, thank you for looking out for us, I, uh, we appreciate it.” Mike looked at Will, eyes soft. Will felt his cheeks heat up.
The door swung open and Mr Reyes walked in, his face noticeably calm.
“I feel better now,” He took his seat. “We can continue.”
“Mr Reyes, can you show us the food thing?”

Why Pendant Lighting Is A Must For Any House
History and introduction to pendant lighting fixture
Pendant lighting is comparatively a baby in respect to other type of lights in the same category starting from the Huge Chandeliers. Actually if history is right, Pendant lights came into existence just as a useful substitute but a less detailed version of Chandeliers with almost same features and functionality. In fact it derived its name from pendant, a jewelry accessory. Its typical history dates back to 2700 B.C. It started with hanging lamps of clay with light given by an animal fat burn which was the way Greeks devised. As time past, clay lamps were replaced by Glass. In the 80s, European pendants began to appear with exclusive use of glass designs as pendants with attractive shades.
The picture of the typical pendant light is a single fixture that hangs from the ceiling from a string or other kind of supporting device such as a metal rod. They are minuscule in detail as compare to the chandeliers and rather than having its lights exposed, the tip or the lower end employs types of shades which is for the same reason the fixture is described as the pendant light fixture. A pendant lighting fixture is also called a suspender or a drop and most often if single-hanging entities without the extra branches are used alone can give dramatic effect when two or three are used together suspended at varying heights. The light may be stripped to a bare bulb suspended from a cord, or housed in a decorative shade crafted from glass, resin, metal or fabric. During its earliest days, the pendant featured a crude type of blown glass shell, which eventually evolved into a huge style conscious make. Today, the variety of styles combined with customers demand has made pendant lights on par with other forms of lighting fixtures. A closer look around pendant lighting online store will surprise you with the extent to which this type of lighting has evolved.
The Why’s and What’s of Pendant Lighting
One of the crucial features of the pendant lights is its versatility. Pendants can often be found in living room, small foyers, kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms and it can suit each space with equal ease. Pendants lights are much different from other types of lights and command the same respect as jewellery. They sparkle, enlighten, and soften a clean, austere environment. In actuality, pendant lights can be every bit as fancy as chandeliers, because one gets pendant lights studded with Swarovski crystals or dangling gemstones. One of the other most important benefits of pendant lights is it never needs re modifications of your existing space like drilling a hole in the ceiling as the case with recessed lights or hammering your walls for those classic wall scones. This drastically reduces the installation time along with peace of mind and yes, brings down your lighting investment. Pendant lighting fixtures do not have the grand scale of a tiered chandelier and are ideal when space and cost is a concern. Wherever space is an issue, mini-pendants can be hung from above, effectively freeing up space in the room for furniture and other things.
They are stylish, have a simple elegance, are functional and provide illumination in hard to light areas. Mini-pendants typically serve as task lights which define the work surface of a kitchen island or bar. Pendants can also be used to spice-up a room or to instigate authentic schemes. When hung in multiple, either multiple pendant fixtures or single pendant fixtures lined up in line, they can effectively set that evening calming mood. Another classic benefit of pendant lights is its wide options available in the market. It could be chosen for their varieties in different form, colour, pattern and texture and prices. Pendants are an eye catcher in it’s not something you want to cut corners on when considering a purchase. There are tons of styles and configurations available today and with a little persistence, you can find just the right fixture for both your décor and your budget. An inexpensive pendant gives you what you pay for and if it wears out, replacing it can be a chore that you won’t relish. A single pendant design fixture can cost very less to a five pendant traditional light costing bit more to the more traditional shade five pendant lights costing higher.
Pre- Shopping guide for Pendant lighting fixture
First thing to look before going on shopping for pendant lights will be to know what will be its function and which part of your home will need them. Pendant fixtures are normally used for general or task lighting. Pendants can be used as stand alone lighting for a particular area or can be used in combination with other lighting fixtures, particularly in larger areas. Narrow areas that need lighting are ideal candidates for a single low pendant light. Considering the pendant size, they can range in size from two inches, to a multiple pendant fixtures that is 22 to 48 inches in diameter ideally suited to brighten from small task area in a kitchen to a bigger hallway. For example, for a pendant installed over a dining table, possibly choose a pendant no larger in diameter than half the width of the table. For an entry foyer, add the width and length dimensions of the foyer together and the calculated total equal the maximum pendant diameter. Nowadays pendant lights comes in varied styles and colours right from single glass pendant light fixture to 5 pendant traditional light to a 8 pendant lamp shaded traditional light fixture. Whatever style and colour you choose, decide whether you want to blend with the décor or want to make it a focal point. After looking at these aspects, the most important thing to look next is you’re lighting especially your pendant lighting budget. Luckily, today there are lots of style choices and hopefully you will find a suitable pendant lighting fixture that will respect your budget. A/n: slow your roll bud...all good things come to those who wait 😌
Masterlist
Previously (Pt. 4)
Back pressed into a cold counter and both of you pulling each other impossibly closer. Grayson bites your bottom lip slightly, then pulls back, looking you in the eyes.
Panting, you watch him with hungry eyes and grip the hair on the back of his neck a little harder, pulling him back down to meet your lips.
“Honeyy, I’m home!” Mando’s voice sings as a door starts to open and Grayson pulls away so quickly he bites your lip again, this time hard.
“Ouch!” You yelp, hand going up to your lip as Mando and a group of people walk in.
He raises his brow at the two of us, a knowing smirk starting to form. Grayson swallows nervously, “Y/n uh-“ Grayson runs his hand through his hair, “she ran into the doorway. Busted her lip open. I was going to help her with it.”
You give Grayson a look that says, ‘that’s the best excuse you could come up with?’ and Mando just hums, crossing his arms, “Mhm, sure.”
“No, seriously!” You say, trying to sound convincing, keeping your hand on your lip, wincing in fake pain, “You know me- always running into things.”
Grayson laughs and you join in, the two of you looking at Mando and praying he doesn’t press the issue, “Riight,” he drawls.
Before he can say anything else, Ethan and everyone from the backyard comes back in and start greeting the new people. That’s when you really start looking at the rest of the group.
It’s Mando, Dylan, and Chase. Followed by Leah, Kayla, and Aly. You try not to groan outwardly at the sight of Kayla. She’s been trying to get Grayson to make her his girlfriend since sophomore year of college and even though he turned her down at least three times she hasn’t gotten the message.
It doesn’t help that you know, for a fact, that Grayson’s fucked her twice. That’s what started this whole thing because he was known for never sleeping with the same girl twice. In his defense, he only slept with her again because he was so drunk he thought she was our other friend Becca. But Kayla doesn’t know that, or she does and ignores it, either way she annoys the shit out of you.
“Alright! Let’s get everyone into their rooms,” Ethan announces and everyone gathers back around the island, Grayson, Ethan, Kristina, and you all standing on one side. Ethan pulls out his phone and goes to a list in his notes.
“We already wrote out who was staying where but if you want to switch rooms, it’s no big deal,” Grayson adds and Ethan nods in agreement.
“There’s two master bedrooms and then four separate bedrooms with two bathrooms to share. Me and Kris are in one master and Gray and y/n are in the other, Mando you’re with Ryan-“ Ethans voice is cut off by a cough.
He looks up from his phone and we look at an awkward, blushing Mando, “I was- uh- I was actually hoping to share with- um- Mia,” he stutters out and Mia blushes too.
You smile at the two and Grayson chuckles, “Thats fine, Mando. The room chart isn’t set in stone,” Ethan smiles too and erases something on his phone, typing something else.
You eyebrows furrow as what he said finally hits you. Oh hell no, “Okay, now-“
“Where’d you say I was sleeping?” You cut Ethan off and he over with raised eyebrows and Grayson blushes.
“You’re sharing with me,” Grayson says and you scoff.
“No, I’m not.”
“C’mon, y/n, it’s not that big of a deal. We’ve shared before,” Grayson sighs.
“Can’t I just share with Ryan?” At the sound of his name, Ryan coughs on his drink.
“I’ll share with him,” Kayla has the nerve to squeak out, raising her hand like we’re in a fucking classroom or something. She glares at you, then cuts her eyes to eye fuck Grayson, “If y/n doesn’t want to.”
Grayson looks at you, eyes pleading, “please, y/n. Please,” he whispers and you roll your eyes.
Sighing, you shake your head, “Nevermind. I’m fine, actually. Sorry to interrupt.”
Kayla scoffs and had the audacity to look offended, “seriously?”
You raise your eyebrow at her, “seriously.”
Ethan coughs and starts again, “Alrighty then- Mando and Mia- first room on the right. Ryan and Chase, second room on the right. Dylan and Aly- you okay with sharing a room?” He looks at the two siblings and they nod, “Okay, first room on the left. Kayla and Leah you’re in the second room on the left. Go off and do whatever,” Ethan dismisses everyone.
“Where’s our room?” You ask as everyone starts to disperse.
“Don’t worry, I’ll show you,” Grayson says.
“Oh, ok,” you say dumbly.
Grayson heads back over towards the door and grabs our bags. He nods his head in the direction of the hallway everyone walked down and you follow him. Heading down the hallway in silence, you realize he’s walking past all the rooms. We turn at the end, coming to a staircase, “I thought all the rooms were on one floor?” You ask, very confused.
“No, the main master was originally on it’s own floor. It was my dad and ma’s but when dad got really sick and couldn’t walk upstairs-“ He pauses for a second, you place your hand on his arm gently, knowing it’s hard for him to talk about it, “They converted two of the other rooms downstairs into one master,” Grayson finishes as we get to the top.
There’s a small hallway, two doors, one on the left down further and a double door to our right, “What’s down there?”
“The study,” Grayson says bluntly, and you know not to ask more about the room.
Instead, he opens the large double doors, “Oh my God,” slips out of your mouth as you walk into the large room.
Large doesn’t even begin to describe it, though. The ceiling’s vaulted with a dark wood. A California king bed sits on one wall, then on the same wall as the double doors there’s a leather couch, it faces a stone fireplace with a flat-screen above it, a bookshelf on one side, meeting up with the wall-of-windows that is across from the bed.
“Go look at the bathroom and closet,” Grayson says, obviously amused by your reactions.
Walking to the second set of double doors, you gasp audibly when you see the bathroom. The bathroom’s dark grey and emerald green. The whole left wall is a counter, two sinks and a built-in vanity at the end. The glass shower’s to the right, taking up almost the whole wall, there’s two rainfall shower heads and six other shower heads spread out on the walls. At the end of the shower, there’s a small partition with the toilet, giving it some privacy but not messing with the airiness of the room. The best part of the bathroom though, is the large window looking out at the mountains, above an egg-shaped tub big enough for almost everyone downstairs. Off to the side, after the toilet, is a door. Opening the door, you’re confused as you come into another room. This one’s smaller, but still bigger than your bathroom at home. There’s a seat in the middle, a ceiling-to-floor three-way mirror, and a door that leads back into the bedroom.
Seeing two more doors you open one, seeing a regular-sized walk-in, with wood drawers and shelves. There’s a few clothes already in here. Opening the second door, you stop in your tracks, “Holy shit.”
The closet is in an L-shape, a mini-crystal chandelier hangs over the middle of the room between two small, square islands. The walls are head-to-toe cabinets, drawers, and racks. It’s all in a lighter wood than the rest of the bathroom and there’s mint green instead of emerald. The seat in the middle is even mint green. Damn, Lisa boojee as fuck. Walking back out, you see Grayson putting his stuff in the smaller closet.
“Nice, isn’t it?” He asks, not turning around to look at you.
“How did your parents afford this?” It’s the main question that’s been on your mind since learning they owned it. Everyone knows the twins are upper-middle class but this? This is upper-upper class standards.
Grayson glances over his shoulder at you, “When one of dad’s old friends found out E and I were going to school out here, he gave the house to my parents for like, a fourth of what it was worth,” he shrugs and turns to you.
“That was so awesome of him.”
“Are we just going to ignore what happened earlier?” The edge to his voice takes you by surprise, looking up at him you see his expression is guarded but you can see the fear of rejection in his eyes.
“I-uh,” you bite your lip nervously, looking down at the ground before glancing back up at him, “I don’t know,” you shrug.
He narrows his eyes at you, “You don’t know?”
“Do you want to ignore it?” You try to sound unaffected but you can hear the emotion in it.
Grayson’s facade cracks slightly at the sound of your voice and your nervous attitude. He doesn’t want to intimidate you, “Look-“ he runs a hand through his hair, “Let’s talk about this in the bedroom.”
You nod silently and follow him out of the closet and the bathroom, sitting on the edge of the bed. He sits on the arm of the couch, facing you. Looking out the windows you still can’t believe you get to wake up to this view everyday for two weeks. It’s also a nice distraction from the 6’0 buff god staring at you.
“Are we going to talk about this like adults or are you going to run away again?” Grayson’s voice cuts through the tension in the room and you flinch at the slight infliction in his tone.
You take a deep breath, looking at him. Something in your gut tells you this is it. You are face-to-face with a fork in the road. Nothing is ever going to be the same and once you start down one road, you can never turn back. And as much as you want to ignore it and pretend everything’s fine- this talk is long-overdue.
You close your eyes for a moment, all your best memories together flashing through your mind, before taking you back to that party a few weeks ago. The memory is sobering and you open your eyes.
Staring into the green-and-brown abyss of Grayson’s eyes, you state, “Let’s talk,” in a voice calm enough to make the Dalai Lama think ‘dang, that’s a calm girl’.
A/n: okay okay i am so sorry for the long wait!! I hope you enjoy this part because it was so hard to figure out where I wanted it to go. There’s only going to be a few more parts but I am very very excited for what’s to come. Once again- thank you for the patience, love, and support I’ve gotten. It truly means the world! Also you know I had to leave y’all on a cliffhanger for now ;)

When It’s Cold
*Felix simps come get y’all juice!
The hyperfixation hit me hard and because I just have to add backstory and character development to every single request I get, this one shot request is another mini-fic. I do not know how long it is going to be but I am hoping to keep it under ten. I already have like 5 chapters written now. Also, Felix deserves some multi-chapter love dang it!*
Prompt: Reader and Felix are stuck in Storybrooke together. What will happen next? Spoilers: it’s feelings and fluff and a horny teenagers being stupid.
Requested by: anon
~~~
“I blame you.” Felix said.
“How is this my fault?” I retorted. Felix and I sat on the docks of Storybrooke overlooking the water.
“You’re the one that convinced me to come to Storybrooke with you. Now look what’s happened! Pan is dead and we have no way to get back to Neverland.”
“We’ll find a way back to Neverland.”
“And how do you figure that? There is no more shadow to ferry us, we have no magic bean, or any pixie dust to fly us back. We are stuck here!”
“Will you calm down?”
“You want me to be calm? How can you expect me to be calm after everything that has happened?”
“I don’t know but you panicking is not going to help us any. Storybrooke is the only town in this realm with magic. If there is a way to cross realms we will find it here so stop worrying so much and start brainstorming. Like you said, there is no more shadow so our reliable way of getting back is gone. Magic beans are scarce if any even still exist. So our only option is to find some method of transportation that can either fly us back or we become mermaids and swim through the realms. So we gotta sprout wings or gills. Ideas?”
“Well I can’t swim worth a damn so I guess we’ll need to find a way to fly.”
“No point staying here.” I got up, “We were fine camping in the woods but that’s not going to serve us well much longer. Winter is rolling in and neither of us have ever lived somewhere that wasn’t tropical and humid all the time so I don’t think we’ll survive long on our own out in the wilderness. We need to start looking into different housing options.”
“You sound like an adult.” Felix groaned.
“I hate it too but there’s not much else we can do unless we want to freeze to death. Come on,” I held a hand out to him, “The sooner we find someplace the sooner we can start dedicating our time to finding a way out of here.”
“I’m coming,” Felix stood up, ignoring my hand. We walked all around Storybrooke looking for someplace to hole up in. My main concern was having a place with heat which left a lot of the vacant houses out since their utilities were shut off. Normally that wouldn’t be a problem if it wasn’t for the fact that there were no fireplaces so starting a fire to keep warm was also out of the question.
It was getting late and our search had yielded nothing. I had a bad feeling that if we couldn’t find somewhere suitable through our own means we would have to resort to actually paying for housing somewhere. Which meant we would need money which also meant we would need to have jobs. Paying bills, having jobs, this was a nightmare!
We shuffled back to our camp and checked the traps we had laid for any game but only caught a small rabbit. Barely big enough for one person. Better than nothing at least.
As Felix roasted the rabbit over our fire I sighed, rubbing my arms to keep off the chill of the late autumn.
“You know what I’ve noticed these past couple days?” I said.
“Hm?” Felix hummed not bothering to look up.
“This is the first time in all the years we’ve known each other that we’ve ever really hung out.”
“Guess so.” Felix shrugged.
“Is that not strange to you? We’ve known each other for decades on Neverland. We hunted together, played together, fought together with the boys but this is the first time us two have ever been alone together. How do you not find that strange?”
“It’s not like I was close to everybody on the island.” He took the rabbit off the spit and cut it in two, “Besides, you were always off galavanting with Artie and Frank. What’s it matter if we ever hung out?”
“I guess it’s just making me wonder.”
“Wonder what?”
“Why you followed me here?” I answered as he handed me my half of our dinner. “You didn’t know that Pan had switched consciousness with that Henry kid until after we left Neverland. You could have stayed on Neverland with the other boys. You didn’t need to come with me when I asked you to. So why did you?”
“Let me ask you something,” Felix dodged around the question, “Why is it that you asked me to come with you in the first place? You had your friends on that ship already. Why take me along? Why is it that you’re roughing it in the woods with me when you have friends that are snug and cozy in that fairy monastery? Answer me that.”
“I--I--” The words were caught in my throat. Why had I asked Felix to come with me? I knew the answer lay deep in my gut but I couldn’t for the life of me bear to bring it to the surface. I bit into my rabbit with a small scowl.
Felix gave a small exhale before diving into his dinner as well. The conversation thoroughly ended. I curled up to go to sleep near the fire. Our only source of heat. I really did miss Neverland. I would deal with a million humid heat waves if it meant that I could be warm again.
Sometime during the night a gust of cold wind snapped me awake. I huddled in closer to myself trying to retain some warmth when I felt something being draped over me. I peeked an eye open and saw Felix lay down again and curled more into himself. I looked to see what he had done and realized he had draped his cloak over me. His only form of heat, thin as it was. I decided at that moment as I watched him violently shivering on the cold ground that I would gladly grow up a little and get a job if it meant we  would have somewhere warm to sleep tomorrow night.
The morning came and as casually as I could gave Feilx back his cloak. I made no mention of his generosity. I knew he wouldn’t appreciate you pointing out his selflessness for whatever reason. Too proud to accept my thanks.
We went back into town and I sent Felix off to find some cheap accommodations for us while I walked along main street and hopped into every store that I could looking for work. Unfortunately it looked like no one was hiring. Dejected and pissed after the tenth shop owner denied to even let me fill out one of their ridiculous applications I stole a handful of dollars from their tip jar. At the very least I could buy us a decent meal tonight.
We met up again outside of the diner. Felix had no luck finding a place to stay either. Everyone just shrugged him off. To my delight though he had the same idea as me and produced a wallet he had pickpocketed off the landlord he had spoken to. A couple of twenties tucked safely into the worn leather. We may not have anywhere warm to sleep tonight but at least we could get a hot meal.
We entered into the diner and immediately were met with stares. It was the same stare I got from everyone I asked a job from. I tried to shrug it off and sat down with Felix at the counter. We ordered two plates of the lasagna. The waitress was kind enough but everyone else at the counter moved away from us when it was evident that we were staying.
“Felix,” I whispered, “Is it just me or is everyone--”
“They don’t want us here,” he whispered back, “They’re not saying anything but they’re making it obvious enough. The reason no one will give us a job or let us live anywhere is all for the same reason. We were here for Pan and even though he’s gone they still don’t trust us. Just eat your food and we’ll go back to camp.”
“Do you think we have enough money to maybe spend just one night at the bed and breakfast?” I asked, hopeful.
Felix shook his head. “Even if we did I think we should be saving this for food since game is proving difficult to come by.”
“You’re right,” I stabbed into my lasagna. “It just gets so cold…”
We finished our meals quickly and left just as fast. At least I was more full than yesterday. We started on our way back to camp when I noticed a trail I hadn’t seen before.
“Where are you going? Camp is that way?”
“I know but I need to see something.” I told him as I started running down the other trail.
“Wait!” Felix ran after me. I kept huffing and puffing down the trail until it opened into a large field. In the distance was a huge house. A mansion by the looks of it.
“Whoa,” Felix said as he took in the sight of the mansion. “How did we miss this?”
“I don’t know. Let’s get a closer look.” We ran across the neatly trimmed lawn and hopped over the fence onto the mansion grounds. The lights were off inside. Whoever lived here was either gone or asleep. We checked the garage and found no car. Peeking in as many windows as we could it didn’t look like anyone was home.
“Should we?” I asked Felix. The temptation was too great. “Even if someone does live here it’s so big I doubt that they would even notice us staying here as well.”
“Let’s take a look.” Felix grinned. Strangely enough the front door was left unlocked. I tried the lights and was delighted when I realized that the electricity was working, there was running water too. Even better was that there was heat! Heat and dozens of bedrooms.
The place was so clean and orderly but yet there were no signs of it being lived in. No pictures on the walls. No food in the fridge. All the doors and windows were unlocked. There was a large kitchen, dining room, multiple rooms just for sitting in, a dozen bedrooms, and even a ballroom with a beautiful crystal chandelier. All the windows had the most spectacular views of the ocean or the mansion’s garden.
“This place is amazing!” I picked up a strange cylindrical paperweight with stars painted on top of it and tossed it in the air. “Felix, I don’t want to get our hopes up but I think we found a place for us to stay.”
“And you’re sure no one lives here?” Felix gazed around the room we were standing in.
“We searched all the rooms we came across and found no one. The place has been cleaned out of food or toiletries. Either whoever lives here desperately needs to go shopping or they just don’t exist.”
“You think we’re really that lucky?”
“I think we’re owed a bit of luck. Even if someone still does live here do you really want to spend the night shivering outside or spend a night wrapped up warm in a bed and run the risk of someone chasing us out in the morning?”
“You make a compelling argument.” Felix grinned, “Race you for the master bedroom!”
“Felix!” I chased after him as he went flying up the stairs. He got to the room first and flopped down on the large king-sized bed.
“I win! Go take one of the lesser bedrooms.”
“You only won cause you have those long lanky legs.” I flopped down beside him and sighed as I sunk into the soft mattress. “I don’t think I can move from here. It’s way too comfortable.”
“Too bad. My room.” He pushed me off.
“Hey!” I laughed as I stood back up. “Fine, you can have the master bedroom but only on the condition that you find us more money to buy food and toiletries. Got it?”
“Sounds good to me,” Felix stood too, eyeing the bathroom attached to the bedroom. “Soap or not I think I am going to indulge in a hot bath.”
“That does sound heavenly.” I haven’t had a hot bath in decades. “Have a goodnight, Felix. We go grocery shopping tomorrow.”
“Night,” Felix gave a wave as he closed the bathroom door behind him.
I left the room and wandered around the hall looking for a space of my own. I found a nice bedroom that felt just as grand as the master bedroom. I went into the bathroom and drew myself a piping hot bath. I nearly moaned when I sunk down into the water. Even if this lasts for only a night I’ll be happy. One night of warmth.
After my bath I wrapped myself in a large fluffy towel and went back into the bedroom. I really didn’t want to put my old dirty clothes on my clean body. I opened the dresser drawers hoping maybe the resident left behind some old clothes but they were all empty. I crept out of my room and checked the other guest rooms surrounding me but all their drawers were empty too. There was one place I hadn’t checked. If the owner did leave something behind it would probably be in the master bedroom. I glanced down at my towel with a grimace. It covers everything at least. I tentatively knocked on the door but was met with no answer. I cracked it open and sighed with relief when I saw no Felix in sight. He must still be in the bath.
I went to the dressers and, “Nothing? Really?!” I slammed the dresser shut again. How is it that there isn’t so much as a single shirt in this house?
“Why are you making so much noise?” Felix stepped out of the bathroom in a billow of steam. My throat went dry when I caught sight of him. Completely naked except for the towel hanging from his  hips and still dripping went. His blonde hair that usually hung in his face was brushed back opening his face up more. His torso had an array of scars I never knew he had before. That wet chest that was impressively chiseled…
I shot to my feet clutching to the towel covering me. “Sorry! I was just looking for some clean clothes.”
Felix gaze swept me up and down. He took a deep breath and grabbed something from inside the bathroom and tossed it to me. It was a fluffy white robe with a monogrammed M on the breast. “There.”
“Thanks.” I slid the robe on over my towel. “Anything else in there?”
“Nope. Just that one.” Felix turned away from me. His face looked red and I could only guess he was angry at me for barging in. “Now scurry back to your own room.”
“Right. Thanks.” I rushed back to my room, my heart hammering in my chest. That was certainly new. I never thought I would see that much of Felix. I mean why would I ever want to see his wet, practically naked, and not so shockingly buff body? No! Bad! Impure thoughts I should not be having about my...my…
Huh. What was Felix to me? On Neverland we were Lost Ones but that didn’t really fit here. I don’t know if I could exactly call us friends either. Roommates? Was that what we were now? We have been living together at our crappy camp all this time and now we’re staying in this mansion together. I guess that’s what we would call one another. Roommates.
I dropped my towel and pulled the clean robe tighter around me. My thumb traced over the M stitched on the breast. This house has no food, no toiletries, no clothes, not a single photo on any wall but yet there was a single monogrammed robe. Who was M? Who had lived here?
Those were questions for the morning. I sunk into bed and this time I did moan as I cuddled under the many thick blankets. Finally warm at last.
Galactica, Chapter 50 (Group Fic) - TheDane/Veronica
A/N: Chapter 50! This feels like some kind of a milestone, even though we still have a looong way to go, including the longest Thanksgiving Day ever. ;) To everyone following this story, we love you so so much, and would love to hear what you think. Click here if you’re looking for previous chapters (or here if you’d rather read on AO3). 💫
Last Chapter: Violet’s injury caused her to open up to Sutan in a whole new way.
This Chapter: Welcome to the Thanksgiving Chronicles - Part 1 of ??
***
“Sutan?”
“Yes?” Sutan looked to the right when he heard the water turn off, Violet’s head peeking out of the shower stall, her dark hair wet and loose. They were in the bathroom, Sutan brushing his teeth while Violet had gotten in the shower to get ready, his girlfriend taping up her leg with the plastic covering the hospital had provided.
“Remember when you said you didn’t mind helping me?”
“Mmh?” Sutan bit the inside of his cheek, hiding a smile as he nodded. He had offered to hop in the shower with her to help her get ready so they wouldn’t be late for Thanksgiving, but she had refused him straight away, Violet often fiercely independent, even when it only made things that much harder for her.
“Would you,” Violet sighed, moving a bit of her wet hair behind her ear and Sutan had to work hard not to laugh, annoyance practically radiating from his girlfriend. “Would you help me? Please.”
“Thought you’d never ask.” Sutan grinned, throwing his toothbrush in the sink, pulling his shirt over his head as he kicked off his pajama pants, earning a laugh from Violet when he made his way into the shower. “Scootch over!”
“If I could do that,” Violet raised an eyebrow, her arms crossed underneath her frankly fantastic tits, pink nipples erect in the cold air, “I wouldn’t have asked you in here.”
“Clever, and beautiful.” Sutan smiled, reaching behind Violet to turn the water on, grabbing her hip to turn her around. “Now, what are we dealing with?”
“I can’t get to my legs.”
“One good scrub,” Sutan took Violet’s body wash, a whole new slew of products turning up one by one in his shower, “Coming right up.”
“Do you do this often?” Violet looked over her shoulder, one of her hands against the wall to help take her weight.
“Do what?” Sutan squeezed the bottle, rubbing his hands together to make sure he had a decent amount of foam before he started washing Violet’s ribs, quick sure strokes gliding over his girlfriend's skin.
“Help girls shower. You’re very enthusiastic.”
“No,” Sutan smiled, pressing a quick kiss against Violet’s shoulder. She didn’t sound jealous, just amused and a little confused, like she didn’t understand why he wasn’t kicking up a fuss about helping her. “But I like doing things with you.”
The answer seemed to appease Violet, or maybe she was growing tired, because she didn’t say anything else while Sutan washed her stomach and hips. He kneeled down, hoping she wasn’t getting too tired to make the drive to Long Island as he took another squeeze from the bottle, quickly washing her thighs and moving down.
“Turn around lovely eyes.”
Violet did as he asked, putting her shoulders against the wall to take her weight as Sutan lifted her leg to wash her foot. He had meant it to be quick, to get the job done and over with so they could get going but when he touched her, he practically felt Violet take in a deep breath.
That was when he noticed.
It wasn’t just the water that made his girlfriend wet, her inner thighs slick, and now that he was looking, she was practically throbbing with arousal, her pink nipples stiff, her eyes closed, her mouth hanging open.
“Well well well,” Sutan smirked, moving even closer on his knees, her ankle still in his firm grip. “What have we here?”
Violet gasped as he leaned forward, pressing a kiss against her upper thigh, a hand reaching out to grab his hair, but instead Violet rocking into his touch, he got a very different reaction.
“No.”
Sutan paused immediately, looking up at her, his lips still against her skin. “No?”
“No,” Violet shook her head, her eyes still closed but now it seemed like it was in embarrassment, her fingers twisting into the strands of his hair. “I can’t,” Violet swallowed. “If you do, if you touch, I don’t think, I can’t keep my balance.”
“Oh.” Sutan chuckled, the cast so big and clunky she was absolutely right that she’d likely topple over if she lost her concentration. “Of course. Sorry.”
He pulled back, ignoring his own cock that had started to chub as he stood up, but Violet didn’t let go, didn’t pull away. Instead, she pulled him in, catching his lips in a kiss, their chests flush against each other, her shoulders still against the wall, water running over both of them now.
“Please,” Violet broke the kiss, and Sutan grabbed her hip, forcing her to let go of his hair. He turned her around, another gasp coming from his girlfriend as she reached out with both hands, bracing herself against the wall. “Oh.”
“My gorgeous girl.” Sutan grinned, pressing a kiss against the nape of Violet’s neck, one of his own hands on the wall. “Feel more secure now?”
Violet nodded, but she didn’t rock against him, didn’t command that he started to fuck her or finger her.
Instead, she put her own hand on top of his, pulling him up, up, up, until they were holding the shower head together.
“Oh fuck,” Sutan groaned, the sound broken even to his own ears. “You dirty little slut.”
Sutan had already figured that Violet didn’t really touch herself, the length of her nails and the reactions to his fingers in her cunt more than giving it away, but she came so unashamedly once she felt safe with him, came like someone who knew their body intimately, and now, Sutan finally knew how.
“Is this what you do?”
Violet nodded feverishly, a small moan escaping her as she pushed back against Sutan, slotting their bodies together, letting go of his hand so she could adjust the temperature of the water.
Sutan grabbed the showerhead, taking it off the wall and aiming it at Violet’s stomach, moving it down, down, down until he could finally slot it between her legs.
Violet gasped, her arms nearly buckling as a wonderful moan left her. Sutan cupped the shower head, holding it close, Violet shivering as he pressed kisses against her neck, her hips rocking desperately.
It was sinfully hot, Violet allowing him into this private and personal part of her life, letting him see her, feel her, touch her, his cock against her back, the water slick slide all he needed when she was this perfect.
Violet cried out, her fingers desperately scratching the tiles, and Sutan came with her, holding her tight, both of them gasping for air as Violet shook through her orgasm.
***
Courtney had expected Bianca’s apartment building to be nice, but when she entered the lobby and saw the concierge sitting behind a huge desk, she had to wonder if she was in the right place. She’d spent ages agonizing about what to wear, finally settling on a black and white houndstooth Moscino mini-skirt that had come from Ivy, a cropped pink and black sweater that she hoped didn’t look at cheap as it was, and a pair of black knee-high boots. She felt okay in it, but stepping up to the concierge, suddenly realized exactly how much her cheap H&M jacket spoiled the whole thing.
“Um...Hi, I’m here to see Bianca Del Rio,” she said, unsure of how the process went.
“Your name?” he asked, flipping open a book.
“Courtney Jenek.”
“Ahh. Here you are.” He pressed a button, saying, “Head over to elevator 2 and I’ll send you right up.”
“Okay, thank you.” She hesitated before turning around and asked, “Um, just...how will I know which apartment is hers once I get to her floor?”
“You’ll know,” he said, an amused smirk pulling on his lips. “Happy Thanksgiving!”
She nodded again, still a little confused, and walked over to the elevator.
Of course, he was right, because the elevator opened right into her fucking apartment. Courtney’s jaw dropped a little as she stepped into the foyer, feeling more out of place than she’d ever been in her life. It looked like a palace: marble floors and a huge crystal chandelier hanging over a grand staircase. Could this really be where Adore’s sister lived?
A second later, two little chihuahuas came skittering around the corner, yapping happily, and Courtney knelt down to pet them.
“Hey! You made it!” Bianca rounded the corner next, looking as impeccable as ever. Courtney swallowed hard, eyes traveling up from her blue stilettos to her black pencil skirt and colorful silk wrap blouse, finally to her dimpled grin, brown eyes shining. “I see you’ve met my terrible children.”
“They’re adorable,” Courtney said, clearing her throat and standing up, after giving one of the dogs once last scratch behind the ears. “What are their names?”
“The chill one rolling over for you is Sammy, and this little attention seeker is Dede,” she laughed, gesturing to the dog who was chasing her own tail in excitement. “Here, let me take your coat.”
She opened an enormous walk-in coat closet, bigger than any closet Courtney had ever had, and hung Courtney’s jacket carefully, as if it was actually worth anything, draping her scarf and hat over a hook.
“That’s a great skirt,” she noted, gesturing to Courtney’s outfit, making her feel a twinge of pride--after all, Bianca knew fashion, and something told Courtney that she didn’t dole out compliments unnecessarily. “I loved that collection.”
“Thank you. Um...this is for you…” Courtney felt a little crazy handing over the hemp Trader Joe’s bag with one sad little bottle of Shiraz. “I found an Australian wine, ‘cause, um…I hope you like it. I asked Adore what you prefer but she wasn’t much help.”
“Is she ever?” Bianca asked, taking the wine bag with a wink and leading Courtney into a living room straight out of a magazine.
“Excuse me!” called Adore’s voice, strolling up to them with a cocktail in hand. “I was very helpful. I told her that as long as there was alcohol in it, you’d drink it.”
“Oh. Well, yeah, that’s true. I guess you’re not totally useless.” Bianca tucked a lock of hair behind Adore’s ear and pressed a kiss to her cheek, the sisterly affection softening her harsh words. She then grinned at Courtney. “Thank you. You really didn’t have to bring anything.”
Courtney looked around, even more gobsmacked than she’d been before. There were park views from every window, high vaulted ceilings, a wet bar where Bianca had set down the wine, and a full concert grand piano, gleamingly white, in the center of the room. Still, as big and grand and expensive as everything was, there was something warm about it - decorated in graphic black and white with some soft gray here and there, and fun, brightly-colored accents.
“Do you want a drink?”
“Ooh yeah!” Adore exclaimed, skipping behind the bar. “I made one up for today, you’ll love it! It’s called The Lying Pilgrim.”
“It’s basically just a cosmo in a tumbler,” Bianca said.
“No, it’s a Lying Pilgrim. Hashtag never forget,” Adore insisted.
Courtney chuckled. “Sounds great.” She let her fingers graze the keys of the piano, wondering what the acoustics were like in this enormous room, and then pulled them away, aware that it might be for looking and not touching.
“I know that piano’s a little much, but Fame insisted that it fit with the aesthetics of the room, and sometimes it’s easier to buy a piano than to argue with her.”
“No, I like it,” Courtney said. “Your place, is...unbelievable.”
“I know, right?” Adore chimed in, shaking up the cocktail vigorously. “To think, she lives here and I’m stuck in that crappy apartment that’s barely a one-bedroom.”
“Your apartment is cute,” Courtney countered, “And free.”
“Also, fuck you, because you could live here,” Bianca said.
“Uptown? Gross.” Adore wrinkled her nose as she strained the drink over ice. “Plus you said I can’t have a cat here.”
“You don’t have a cat!”
“I know, but if I need to be free to have one if I want!” Adore exclaimed, handing Courtney’s drink over to her. “You know what I mean, right?”
Courtney accepted it, shaking her head. “Sorry Adore, but your problems are not relatable.” She couldn’t imagine being offered a bedroom in a place like this and turning it down. Adore was nuts.
“Ha!” Bianca laughed triumphantly. “So, are you guys hungry? I can pop some appetizers into the oven.”
“Awwww, are you actually pretending to cook?” Adore asked, reaching over to pinch Bianca’s cheek. “That’s so cute.”
“No, but I do need to heat up the food the caterer dropped off. Unless you’d like cold mushroom caps?”
“Heaven forbid!” Adore clutched her chest, and Courtney giggled. “Come on Court, I’ll give you a tour while Bianca heats up some overpriced Totinos.”
“Bitch…” Bianca started, but Adore had already scampered off, pulling Courtney by the hand. “Stay out of my closet!”
“Of course, I would never go into your closet without you!” Adore exclaimed from the foot of the stairs, then winked at Courtney, putting a finger to her lips, mouthing, ‘I’m lying.’
“Thank you,” Sutan smiled at the Starbucks girl, rolling up the window. Raven was sitting on the edge of her seat, her eyes glued to the tray that went from one twin to the other while Sutan restarted the engine.
They were on their way to celebrate Thanksgiving on Long Island, Raven’s soon to be mother-in-law opening her house for her children and their partners. It was the first time Raven had company in the backseat, and while Violet didn’t say much, it was nice to not be the only one who didn’t understand Indonesian, nice to know she had an ally if needed.
“So,” Raja smirked, slowly turning the first coffee around. “We have a decaf for Violet.” She popped it out, reaching into the backseat to hand it to Violet. “A double espresso for Sutan.”
“Thanks Raj,” Sutan grinned, plucking his cup from the tray.
“And a-” Raven could feel her heart speed up, her drink just within reach. “Cold brew for me-”
“OH MY GOD!” Raven hadn’t meant to yell, but she couldn’t help it. She grabbed the back of Raja’s seat, shaking it hard. “Give me my fucking coffee!”
Everyone was completely silent for one, long, second, and then, Sutan started to laugh, Raja joining him.
“Princess,” Raja hiccupped, her perfect lips parted as she laughed and laughed.
“Fuck,” Sutan wiped his eyes with the back of his hand, the other one firmly planted on the wheel. “Raven, holy shit.”
“Gimme-” Raven reached in between the seats, snatching her Double Chocolaty Chip Frappuccino Blended Creme. “Assholes.”
“Aw baby,” Raja smirked, and if Raven didn’t love her, she would have kicked her seat. Raven sat back down, Violet giving her the tiniest smile as she stuck the straw in her mouth, taking one, long, deep sip, the chocolate goodness swirling on her tongue.
She only had a 6 hour window, and she was going to enjoy every single second on that clock.
As Bianca pulled a tray down from the shelf, she began to hear music and laughter from down the hall. She cocked her head, listening, and realized that Adore must have broken out the karaoke machine, the telltale opening chords of ‘Summer Nights’ from Grease playing, soon followed by Adore and Courtney’s giggling voices on the microphones.
She smiled to herself, glad that they were having a good time. She knew for a fact that the best thing for Adore when she was feeling depressed was silly, wholesome fun. And while she didn’t have any first hand information about Courtney’s work life, she was fairly certain that an excuse to blow off some steam would be much needed there, too.
Bianca took her time with the appetizers, arranging the little mushroom caps artfully on the tray, ladling butternut squash soup into her prettiest teacups and then sprinkling the chives that the chef had included for garnish. This was way more work (or thought) that Bianca normally put into food, but for some reason she felt compelled to serve a beautiful and delicious meal today. She picked up the tray, balancing it carefully as she walked down the hall.
When she got to the den, they were in the middle of what looked like a dance lesson: Courtney was teaching Adore a routine to Britney’s ‘Toxic,’ encouraging her as she tried to follow along. Bianca leaned against the door frame, watching Courtney shake her little butt and whip her hair around, an amused smile tugging on her lips. On a turn, Courtney finally noticed Bianca standing there and she stopped cold, pink creeping into her cheeks.
“Don’t stop on my account,” Bianca said, shooting her a grin and setting the tray of appetizers down on the coffee table.
“Um, wanna go from the top?” Courtney asked Adore, and Adore nodded, a hand pressed to her side.
“Okay.”
Bianca walked over to the wine fridge, getting down a glass and pouring herself some Burgundy. She sat on the couch, eyes glued to Courtney as she danced, noticing that she was hamming it up a bit more than before. She couldn’t help but wonder if it was for her benefit.
Courtney glanced over at Adore, exclaiming, “There you go, Dore! No, kick higher!”
“My leg doesn’t bend that way,” Adore defended herself, still breathing hard as she tried to keep up.
Courtney laughed, ending the routine with a sexy flourish.
“Very nice. You’re a true showgirl,” Adore said, flopping onto the sofa.
“Thank you. I should really try out for the Rockettes, huh?”
“Nah, you’re too short to be a Rockette.”
Courtney responded by blowing a raspberry at her, which made Bianca start cracking up into her wine. She knelt down on the rug beside the coffee table, reaching for one of the napkins on the tray and picking up a stuffed mushroom cap. “Oh, um...is any of this vegan?”
“All of it.”
“Oh!” Courtney’s face broke out into a grin. “That’s amazing, thank you so much!”
“Uh...you know there’s a sofa right there,” Bianca said, gesturing to the giant suede L-shaped sofa that took up a large portion of the wall.
“I know, but all your furniture looks too perfect, I’m afraid to touch it.”
Bianca laughed, patting the couch cushion and assuring her, “I promise it’s for sitting, not for looking.”
Courtney grinned, giving a little shrug and moving to the sofa, sitting beside her just as she tasted the mushroom, eyes widening with delight.
“Good?”
“Sooo good, oh my god!” she exclaimed, reaching for more, and Bianca smiled, taking one for herself.
“You know...B dated a Rockette once,” Adore threw out casually, now flipping through the karaoke book.
“Wrong,” Bianca said immediately.
“Yes you did!” Adore insisted. “I remember because we went to-”
“I did not date a Rockette,” Bianca said. She swirled the wine around her glass before smirking and added a corrected, “I dated two Rockettes.”
Courtney burst out laughing, picking up one of the cups of soup and saying, “Good on ya!”
Adore, however, had scrunched up her face distastefully. “At the same time?”
“No! Number 1 introduced me to Number 2. All above board, thank you very much.”
“Why did I only meet one of them?” Adore asked, eyes narrowed suspiciously.
“Well, because you were only 16, and very impressionable, and that second one was a filthy, filthy girl.”
As Courtney’s eyes widened over her teacup, Bianca caught her eye and gave her another grin, enjoying the now permanent blush in her cheeks.
“Wow, what a responsible guardian you were,” said Adore. “Oh hey, Court, I found ‘True Colors’! You still wanna sing it?”
“Yes!” Courtney leapt up excitedly, taking the mic and turning it back on.
Bianca settled back against the sofa as Courtney started to sing, sweetly directing the lyrics to Adore, who giggled and fluttered her lashes. Her expressive voice was the biggest surprise yet, unexpectedly rich and powerful. When she’d told Bianca that she wanted to get into pop music, Bianca assumed that she meant the kind of manufactured, auto-tuned, generic dance music that always blended into the background at clubs. It seemed, listening now, that Bianca had underestimated her.
She found herself in a bit of a trance, captivated by the performance, even more than she’d been by the over-the-top sexy dance moves earlier. At one point, she realized that Adore was shooting her a rather curious look, and tried to snap herself out of it, tearing her eyes away to look down at the food.
Courtney walked towards Adore, tipping her chin up to recapture her attention.
“I see your true colors and that's why I love you So don't be afraid to let them show--Your true colors True colors are beautiful like a rainbow…”
As the song faded out, Bianca could see tears shimmering in Adore’s blue eyes, and she jumped up to give Courtney a bear hug.
“You okay, honey?” Courtney asked.
“Yeah, I just needed to hear that today,” Adore sniffled, and Courtney gave her a wet kiss on the cheek.
Bianca wasn’t sure what made her more uncomfortable: the naked display of sincerity, or the fact that she’d been almost as equally moved by the performance as Adore.
“Ugh, what’s with the Hallmark channel shit?”
“Well, sorry Bianca, but some of us have hearts,” Adore said. “Call the Wizard and see what’s taking so long with yours.”
“Ha! Good one,” Bianca chuckled.
“Sorry about bringing the room down,” Courtney said. “I just can’t resist a ballad.”
“No no, it was good,” Bianca assured her, suddenly feeling a bit bad for giving them shit, wishing she knew when to keep a lid on the sarcasm. “You have a beautiful voice.”
“Thank you.” Courtney met her gaze, biting on her lower lip, green eyes shining, and this time Bianca couldn’t bear to look away.
“B, you gonna sing something?” Adore asked, a cheeky smile on her face, since she knew the answer to that full well.
“Uh, no,” Bianca said. “I’m gonna go heat up the rest of the food. What do you guys think about sitting down to eat in a half hour ish? Emphasis on ‘ish’?”
“Sounds great! Do you need help?” Courtney asked.
“No, you relax. Have fun.”
“Are you sure?”
Those bright eyes again. Bianca felt her stomach lurch.
“Positive.”
***
“Are you sure you don’t need a hand?”
Violet bit her lip, considering it for a second. She was getting better, the terrible fatigue slowly seeping from her bones, but everything was still annoyingly difficult, so she held out her hand, Raja and Raven already halfway up the little walkway to the small yellow house.
“There we go,” Sutan grinned, taking her free hand and pulling her out of the car, his arm going around her waist which almost caused Violet to drop her crutches.
“Sutan-” Violet laughed, her boyfriend practically radiating excitement and she allowed herself to bask in it, his apparent confidence that this would be an amazing day making her feel brave.
“Come on,” Sutan placed a quick kiss on her lips, her hand still firmly in his.
“Sutan,” Violet pulled on his hand. “I still need-”
“Oh, right, sorry.” Sutan smiled, reaching into the car and grabbing the white orchid Violet had brought along. She wasn’t sure if she actually needed to bring a gift, but it had felt rude to show up without one, orchids apparently Murni Amrull’s favorite flower.
It was impossible to smooth down her skirt when she had to hold her crutches with both hands, so Violet chewed the inside of her cheek, taking deep breaths as Sutan opened the door, Raja and Raven already disappearing inside.
“Bunda! Kami Rumah!” Sutan yelled into the hallway, the indonesian rolling off his tongue.
“Sutan!” Violet watched as a woman came around the corner. She had dark brown skin, grey hair in a bun on top of her head. She was wearing a floral dress with a white apron on top, a gigantic smile on her lips. “Selamat Datang di rumah!”
“Halo,” Sutan grinned, bending down to give her a tight hug, and it was then that Violet realized the woman barely made it to her chest, the Amrull twin’s mom a tiny little woman.
“Hello, hello,” Murni looked at her, the smile still firmly on her face. “Sutan, introduce us.”
“Of course,” Sutan smiled, standing up straight, his arm around his mom's shoulder, the orchid in his other hand. “Bunda, this is Violet. Violet, my mom. Murni.”
“Bunda means mom in Indonesian.” Murni looked at Violet, her eyes warm and kind. “I bet my stupid boy didn’t tell you that.”
“Hey!” Sutan huffed, but he didn’t remove his arm, still pressing his teeny tiny mom against his side.
“Hi, it’s very nice to meet you, Mrs. Amrull,” Violet smiled, hoping that she was making a good first impression, that she wasn’t a disappointing sight. “I brought you a gift-”
“Ah! Right.” Sutan perked up, handing the pot to his mom. “Di sini anda pergi.”
“For me?” Murni took the flower, holding one of the leaves between her fingers, a moment of anxiety flashing over Violet as she examined the blossoms closely. “I love it. Thank you.”
Violet smiled, Sutan’s mom everything she had never dared hope for.
And stayed tuned next week for Ch.10 from @loveobsessed2  -tag, you’re it!
———————————————————————————————————–CHAPTER NINE by @vmsteenbeans
Logan, Duncan and Veronica rushed out into the great room to investigate the crash, stopping short when they discovered the massive chandelier lying before them. The weight of the light fixture had cracked all of the tiles in the center of the room, and fine particles of marble still hung in the air.
Veronica covered her nose and mouth with the crook of her arm, squinting at the scene in front of her.  As the dust began to settle, she saw hundreds of tiny crystals scattered across the floor, sparkling in the firelight.  Those still attached to the chandelier swung gently back and forth, creating a cheerful tinkling sound at odds with the destruction before her.
She glanced over at Logan, whose eyes were already upon her.  They shared a look, and Logan nodded – he knew what came next.  They needed to make sure that there were no bodies crushed beneath the chandelier.
Just as they’d both begun to move forward, two things happened at once.  The other party guests came rushing downstairs, pausing at the bottom of the stairway, and Veronica heard a cough.  The weird thing was, it had come from above her.
She tilted her head back.  Wallace stared down at her through the brand new hole in the ceiling, looking just as shell-shocked as she felt.
“Veronica!  Is everyone okay?”
“Wallace?” she called back.  “What the…?”
“The floor gave way,” he explained.  “And you and I have a lot to talk about.  We’re coming down now.”
He disappeared, and her gaze returned to the chandelier.  Logan was crouched down beside it, inspecting the floor around it carefully.  He stood up and walked back over to Veronica, taking her hand in his.  “All clear,” he assured her.  “No one was hurt.”
Veronica exhaled, some of the tension leaving her body. “Well that’s one thing that’s gone right today.”  He squeezed her hand, and she smiled.  “Actually, that’s two things.”
Logan opened his mouth to reply.  Before he got the chance, Wallace and Casey came jogging down the stairs.  They pushed the others aside, making their way over to Veronica.
“Dude,” Casey said, looking rather exhilarated. “There’s a secret passageway in your room.”
“Are you kidding me?” Veronica replied.  She glanced over at Wallace, who didn’t appear nearly as excited about this new piece of information.
“It’s true,” he confirmed.  “And there’s more.”
***
“So what does this mean?” Gia asked.  “Are people, like, voyeuring us?”
They were all gathered in the living room again. Everyone had naturally gravitated towards the light and warmth of the fire, with the exception of Dick, who was back to playing bartender.
Veronica watched him from her spot on the loveseat, as he poured Godiva liqueur into a metal shaker.  She wondered, once again, where he’d disappeared to earlier.  Although in the scheme of things, we have much bigger problems to deal with.
She turned her attention back to Gia.  “I think we have to assume that, yeah,” she confirmed.  “More importantly, this means that none of us is actually safe in our rooms.  Even when the doors are locked.”
Veronica watched as the other guests digested that news. Everyone looked suitably uncomfortable at the thought, especially Logan.  He was seated beside her, brow furrowed and jaw tight, as he swept his gaze across the room.
Despite the seven months, nine days and- she glanced at her watch- twelve hours since she’d seen him last, Veronica knew Logan well enough to understand where his head was at.  It wasn’t his own safety he was worried about.  It was hers.
And although his protectiveness had once enraged her, she now found it… endearing.  She nestled herself closer, entwining her fingers in his.  Logan snaked his arm around her waist and dropped a kiss on her forehead, sighing into her hair.
“So what do we do?” Carrie asked.
“Block the passageways?” Luke suggested.
“Have someone stand guard in the secret tunnel?” Alexis spoke up.
Wallace stared at them in disbelief.  “Um, does no one else here remember the chandelier that just came crashing to the ground?  That tunnel doesn’t exactly meet OSHA safety standards.”
“Who’s Osha?” Kimmy asked.
Everyone ignored her, and Dick made his way from out behind the bar.  “Or there’s the obvious solution,” he replied, holding up his chocolate martini. “All nighter!”
“Yeah, Dick,” Susan replied dryly.  “That makes total sense.  We’ll all just get wasted while someone sneaks around, picking us off one by one.”
There was silence, and then all eyes landed on Veronica.
“Oh, now you want my help?” she asked.
Gia shrugged.  “Murder and stuff is like, your hobby.  Right?”
Veronica sighed heavily.  “Sure.”  She thought for a minute, considering her mantra from earlier in the day.  Contact authorities.  Stick together.  Preserve the evidence…  Well, one out of three ain’t bad.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Dick has the right idea,” Veronica began.
“Rager!” he called out.
Veronica rolled her eyes.  “No.  But I think we should all stay in this room, together.  We’ve got plenty of wood to keep that fire going all night. Whoever’s tired can sleep on the couches and chairs, or we can even bring some mattresses and blankets down here. And at least two people need to stay awake at all times, to stand guard.”
After some dissention, everyone finally agreed to the plan.  Casey, Norris, Duncan and Luke went upstairs to start bringing down the mattresses, while the others began moving furniture around to make more room.
Veronica and Logan got up from the love seat.  He started to move forward, to help out, but she grabbed hold of his arm.  She tugged gently, pulling him towards the deserted great room.  Once they’d crossed the threshold, she turned to face him.
“What’s up?” he asked.
“I know sticking together is the right call,” she said softly, “but it feels like we’re being herded.”
Logan nodded.  “I’ve been thinking the same thing.  Like someone is… toying with us.”
“Exactly.”  Veronica chewed at her lower lip while she tried to figure out her next step. “Something’s been bothering me.”
Logan raised his brow.  “Just the one thing?”
“When Wallace and I got here, the storm was starting to get worse.  The captain told us he was going to stay in the caretaker’s cottage.  But when we were over there earlier, there was no sign of him.  Where is he?”
“That’s… a really good question.  Are there any other buildings on the island?  Maybe a guest house?”
“Maybe.  And another thing,” she went on.  “When we found out that Duncan and Norris’s deaths were faked, Norris said something to Jen.  Something like, ‘I thought we were the only ones today.’”
Logan nodded slowly.  “Meaning there were other fake murders planned for tomorrow and Sunday. So who else was supposed to fake-die?”
“Right.  And where are they?”  Veronica gestured around them.  “I mean, the jig is officially up.  The murder mystery is supposed to be over.  So, why weren’t those people told?  Why aren’t they here, with the rest of us?”
“Looks like Jen the party guide is still holding out on us.”
“Yeah.  It looks exactly like that.”  She paused. “And there’s something else.”
Logan smiled at her fondly.  “It’s never just one thing, with you.”
“Once I get going, it’s hard to stop.”
“Mmm,” he replied, bending down and kissing her on the lips.  “I recall.”
Veronica closed her eyes and leaned into the kiss, allowing herself to escape their present reality for just a moment.  This wasn’t the first time Logan had been her port in a storm, but it was the first time it had been quite this literal.
It was Logan who pulled away first, although the satisfied smile on his lips assured her he’d be more than happy to continue.  “You were saying?” he prompted.
Veronica blinked, trying to focus.  The one time she really and truly wanted to put her relationship with Logan first, she was stuck on a remote island during a blizzard, trapped in a mansion with some murdering psycho who was trying to kill her and everyone else with her.  So typical.
She cleared her throat.  “Right,” she began.  “My next question: why this specific group of people?”
“Haven’t we gone over this already?” he asked. “Or are you saying that you have a theory?”
“Well… I did think of one thing,” she admitted. “Meg.”
“Meg what?
“I don’t know.  Cole and Duncan used to date her.  Kimmy used to want to be her. She and Alexis were on the cheerleading squad together, she used to tutor Norris, and the rest of us were friends with her.  Even Leo knew her.”
“True,” he said slowly.  “But what about Wallace?”
“We’ve already established that he doesn’t seem to fit the pattern.  Except as a way to lure me here.”
“Okay, so what are you thinking?  She’s back from the dead, trying to kill us all zombie-style?”
Veronica gave him a withering look.  “No.  I’m just trying to find a common denominator, and that’s something I landed on.”
Logan didn’t look convinced.  “Yeah, but name any 09er and…”  He trailed off, his expression changing as his eyes skimmed the walls.  “Hey, do you still have that flashlight handy?”
Veronica nodded, producing the mini-Maglite from her back pocket and handing it to him.  “What’s up?”
“Well,” he replied.  “I used to have this girlfriend who made me watch a lot of period dramas.”  He cast a teasing smile in her direction, before turning the flashlight on and taking her hand.  “Jane Eyre, Gosford Park, Dangerous Liaisons…”
“I believe that last one was your pick.”
“I do have a weakness for Michelle Pfeiffer,” he said.  “Although she’s not my favorite blonde.”  Logan cast a cheeky look at Veronica, before leading her towards the kitchen.  “Anyway, if I remember correctly, the servant’s quarters were kept hidden in those grand houses of old.”
Finally catching on to what he had in mind, Veronica felt anticipation coursing through her.  “And we already know there’s one secret passageway in this house…”
“Exactly.”
Logan kept walking, flashlight pointed at the walls. He moved it down and across slowly, looking for any obvious cracks or crevices in the molding.  Spotting something, Veronica let go of his hand and stepped forward.  It was tiny, but there was a small bump in the molding.  She pressed it.
The entire panel swung forward, revealing the entrance to the servant’s quarters.  And seated at the small wooden table in front of them, munching on potato chips and staring at her laptop, was Mac.
I put my trust in my brother with this home, he did send me pictures but I didn’t look at all. I never had the time to have a look, I’ve been staying with Robyn most of the time but I came to Santa Monica today, I had to wake up so early. Catch up with business before I take Malik with me, the sale has gone through now and the house is mine. If that home is not how I like I will be so angry with him, but I know Malik wouldn’t fail me like that. My baby is now fifteen weeks pregnant, I’m counting well trying to keep up with the count. Time is drawing closer and the excitement is building, my daughter will be here soon. I feel like it is important for me to be around Robyn as much as I can, I’m proud of myself. I’m balancing work and Robyn but that is because I’ve been making Ally do most of the work, she’s not impressed and did say are you sure you want to get rid of me, but she has to go. Stifling out a yawn reading down at the paperwork my lawyer drew up, this is better. This states that if Naomi tries to come back at me with anything and then claims I cheated within the marriage to get money from me it’s none void once she accepts this, which she will. I do rather be divorced though, I want my daughter to be born with a single father with her mother. I guess I can send this now “I missed you Maurice, happy birthday” Malik stepped into my office “thank you, don’t remind me. I’m old” Malik walked around the office desk and then hugged me “you’re not, you’re thirty. It’s a big age, you’re a dad. Well about to be” smiling at my brother.
Malik sat across me “I didn’t tell you, sorry. You know trying to make sure I work and then be there for Robyn I just let it slip but. It’s a girl, I’m having a daughter” Malik’ eyes lit up “a niece? She going to be bad ass already, that’s so cute, that is going to bring out a different side to you, I know it” sitting back in my seat “I’m a little nervous, anything can happen and I just can only hope she loves me because she is the heir whether dad likes it or not. I’ve put her in my will, if anything happen to me. I know she ain’t born but she is in there, if anything happens to me you have to ride for me. You have to make sure Robyn is kept safe from the the family, you never know. Kellen might kill me soon” Malik pulled a face at me “don’t say that Maurice, you mean a lot to me. You’re the backbone to the family, you’re the brother that protects me and Nalah. You had it all, you may have had dad’ love but you had to put up with his shit which saved us. There has been times where you saved me when dad didn’t, nah. I couldn’t do without you” look at Malik being emotional “means a lot to me but you may be dead before me if that house is not good enough, I paid for it now” Malik laughed “it’s good, I don’t lie. I’m happy you’re here though, wouldn’t leave Robyn’ bed” he damn right, I wanted to stay with my baby momma.
Sitting back rubbing my stomach, I have ate too much breakfast. Malik straight burped with no manners at all “that’s nasty, didn’t your mother teach you right?” Malik shook his head “I’m not a posh boy like you” looking to the side of me seeing the chef “Happy Birthday, from me and the staff in Santa Monica” looking behind me and the whole of the staff is here “thank you so much” I didn’t expect it “happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you” they started singing, this is embarrassing, the manager came from behind the chef with a cake “awwww” I said smiling “make a wish boss” shifting in the seat to see the cake, it looks so nice but that thirty number is not cute. Closing my eyes making the wish before blowing the candles out “thank you” getting up from the seat “thank you everyone, appreciate it” I even got the hotel stayers knowing now “I’m just getting old but thank you and my staff will pass out the cake to everyone, thank you” sitting down, I feel all hot now doing all that movement. I don’t want anymore surprises anyways “happy birthday my nigga, you ain’t see me in the back clapping my hands singing happy birthday like I was in the church” I snorted laughing “no way, my nigga” getting up once again to his Shawn “had to come out and see you, my brother’ birthday” I really don’t want the fuss.
Walking behind Shawn out of my hotel, Robyn is on the phone more upset I left when she knew I was going but fell asleep so she couldn’t say it last night, she honestly cries about the smallest things “I’m a bad girlfriend for you Maurice, I’m so sad” she sniffled down the phone “listen, it’s fine. I just want you to be ok, are you going to work today?” I think she said she is “yeah I am, but I’m still sad you’re not here. Happy birthday Mi Amor” I cooed out “that is so cute, my baby girl. I love you Bonita, I’m not doing anything so I will see you later, I mean Shawn is here but I will see you ok? I don’t want to fuck with your getting dressed ritual, you stay saying I do” Robyn chuckled “ok, please see me tonight. I love you handsome” my baby is too damn cute “love you more” getting into the front seat with Shawn “you all love you this and that” disconnecting the phone call, closing the car door “do I smell hate in the air? I didn’t think of you as one” Malik better be ready for a beating if this home is not good enough “whatever, I am just saying so. What we doing today mr old as shit. I’m still twenty nine but you old now” why do I have to be reminded “I’m having a daughter too, I will be feeling like I’m fifty” Shawn gasped “no way!!!! A girl? Oh my god, yo. I am so happy for you, a girl? She going to be so beautiful, you for real you going to age” don’t I know it.
I am actually excited to see the house that I will be living in with my family, I hope it’s as Malik describes it to be “I can’t believe it, you about to have a daughter” my smile grew “that’s the new heir growing in Robyn’ stomach, I am so blessed to have this. I always wanted to be a dad so this to me gets me choked up, I don’t care about having an heir, I just wanted to be a dad and now it’s a girl I’m even more excited. My daughter, I just want to spoil her in everything, I don’t care what my dad says or anything. Mini Bonita is the new heir, she’s queen” that was a little rant there “that’s what I want to hear, that’s beautiful bro. God blessed you with a girl because he knew you can handle it, I know you can too. That Ally business though, I don’t want ole girl in my company honestly” I knew he didn’t “well Shawn she is, I didn’t know she liked me like that. She cried bro, like cried real ass tears. She wanted to be my side bitch, she for real liked me and I didn’t even know” I feel so dumb “that shit is actually funny to me, I knew she did. I did always say to you, stop fucking with her but you wouldn’t. I think we are here look at this” we stopped outside at the side of this mini box house, and then this police officer stepped out. Putting my window down “the reason for your visit?” he asked, this guys knows everyone who lives here. Another officer came out from behind him “I have just bought 5041 here” he let out an oh “that is fine, Mr Davenport. I was expecting you. The estate agent is wait for you, drive along” I already like this “just a question, does everyone get stopped?” I don’t want this being regular, yes but you see there is two drive way to get in, the one on the other side you would use. You go to the gate and key in. So we don’t, everyone new here and we don’t we always catch them out” I get it now, that sounds safe and secure.
The two gates opened and I am so impressed “Malik, I got to give it you. You did well, you got me everything I asked. Security” Malik slapped my shoulder “talking about beating my ass, I been knew it. You know this will be good” looking at the houses as we drove ever so slowly. It’s private, the homes are beautiful here. Kids playing freely too, this is what I want “look Maurice” Shawn said, looking over at Shawn and where he pointed “this is us, the estate agent is stood outside” my mouth fell open, my first real home. I mean I had that other home in Texas but it was not big, this is huge. It’s like my family home in Texas “this place is huge” Shawn stopped the car, getting out of the car “Maurice Davenport, I am Mick” the agent rushed to me “nice meeting you Mick” shaking his hand “Malik, we met before. Welcome to your new home Maurice” staring at the home, this has to be the proudest moment of my life because it’s me doing this, this is mine. This had come out of my money, I am the man, I am paying the bill, I am doing this “I am so happy” I said aloud “six bedroom home fit with eight bathrooms, the best for you” nodding my head “it’s a palace, I am happy y’all. This my birthday present to myself” it got to be done.
It’s breath taking home, as soon as you walk in it’s beauty “a dramatic two-story grand foyer with floating wrought iron staircase, elegant living room with clerestory windows” the agent explained “the chandelier alone, it’s made with Swarovski crystals” that is crazy “you have an executive office, large family room, small family room, chef kitchen island in the kitchen, walk in pantry, breakfast room” Shawn nudged me “can I borrow your phone please?” frowning at him “you don’t have one?” he is a liar “I left it in the car, just give me it” placing my hand in my pocket and dragging it out from my pocket “this is your work phone?” Shawn asked “why you fussing? It works” I said “uhm yes I know but you really want my mom knowing it, just give me the other” I scoffed in annoyance “you mad weird, sorry Mick” I apologised passing him my phone.
Tumblr media
So I lied to Maurice, I have time off from work. I wasn’t going to miss my baby’ birthday, but I will kill him if he doesn’t come back. I want to surprise him, just a little something “did you get him anything?” Leon asked as he washed the dishes “uhmm this pussy, but I have kind of” my phone rang at the side of me on the kitchen counter, he is calling me already. I am supposed to be at work but I can’t ignore his call “hello birthday boy” I want to hug him, I know he just barely left me for Santa Monica but I hate being away from him “thanks, it’s not my birthday yet” my face dropped “it’s me Shawn” how embarrassing “oh erm, hi. Where is Maurice?” Why has he got his phone “I just stepped out, he doesn’t know I have his phone. Look, I don’t know what you got planned for his birthday but I waned to grab you. This is out of my hands, like his mom contacted me about this. But his family are in California and they throwing him a ballroom party, it’s because he is thirty and they are doing this but I want you to be there, I know nobody knows about you but I do. He will want you there and as a friend I want to fulfil that for him, so please say yes. You can be my guest, I will say you are with me” I feel so sad, that means I can’t do what I wanted with him “but I can’t, I am pregnant and Noami will be there. It will be too much, I rather I stay away” I feel emotional now “no, forget her. I will look after you, just please be there. It’s for him, she won’t do shit. Bring your friend with you, Malik said Leon. You both my guests, just look nice like ballroom type thing. I will pick you up about seven, I have to go but you coming” he disconnected the call, staring ahead of me in shock.
Leon stared at me waiting for me to speak “what is happening? You seem in shock?” I can’t go there “it was Shawn, he said I can’t do what I wanted for Maurice. His family are doing a party for him, a ballroom party. He invited me, I am his guest and he will look after me and you can come. Kellen and Tiffany will be there and they hate me, what if that causes issues? I don’t want to see things, like what if Maurice and Naomi be a couple for that day. I can’t” shaking my head, my eyes welling up just thinking about it “fuck them bitch asses, you mean more than any motherfucker in that room. Bitch pick up your crown and walk in that ballroom, no. I won’t have you being here while they party for your man’ birthday. No, get up. We need something to hide mini Robyn. Get up now! No sad shit, you are going. You are queen, you are giving that family a grandchild they don’t know about but who cares because you mean so much to him, I doubt Maurice wants her near him. I swear to god, no sad shit” Leon grabbed my arm, he is really doing this with me.
I am not even sure if this is worthy “I wore this last year at my birthday, everyone is going to be posh and all rich and look at me. Last year clothes” Leon groaned out rolling his eyes “bitch I didn’t just waste my time untangling for those fucking laces on those heels for you to be like this, you just got ready. This is the only thing to hide your bump and we have no time to get you anything, listen to me. You don’t need a dress, your beauty, your slay, you going to pull it off. Do not care about Tiffany, she can wear prada and she still look like a Kelly Price” I gasped, the passion in his voice with that statement “you my dear friend, you look like a princess. You so beautiful friend, just stop this shit. Stop the shit, you look so beautiful. The look is breathtaking and it hides the stomach” turning around to the mirror to see myself. A pink off-the-shoulder gown with big puffy sleeves, a ruffled neckline. knee-length lace-up heels with a long flowing trail behind me. My hair in a tight high ponytail, this will have to do because there is nothing else I can do.
Leon doesn’t understand how nervous I am, what if this is a big mistake. What if Maurice doesn’t want me there “I can see the worry, just stop it and do I look good?” Leon walked into my eye view, looking him up and down “you get that from the dollar tree store” Leon’ mouth fell open “I was joking, boy you look good. I am here for it handsome, I’m just worried about everything. Naomi, Kellen and Naomi” Leon waved me off “you more family than them, you having his damn child. I’m sorry but that makes you higher than them. I feel like a king with you, that is because Maurice treats you like a queen and I know his ass will be happy to see you, I promise. God, least we get to experience something so posh” Leon could be right, I mean I am having his baby “imagine if I couldn’t find something to hide this bump, I would be doomed. I mean it’s last year but whatever, I will just have to suck it up. I’ll have to do something special for Maurice on a different day, I have a few days off” a knock at the door, I feel so nervous because all I want is him, I feel ever so clingy to him “I’ll get it” getting up from the couch “can you see I’m pregnant?” I asked Leon as I unlocked the door “no, you don’t” thank you god, dragging open the door “heyyy….” Shawn drifted off, he actually dragged his eyes down and back up he is checking me up and I just flushed, my cheeks “wow, oh my. I’m so sorry, honestly I didn’t mean it. Please don’t tell Maurice, I was just blown away, you’re so very beautiful. You’re glowing” I giggled “see I told you bitch” Leon is right, I do look good.
I am so taken a back, Shawn actually did check me out but I know he didn’t mean it like that “nice place, thank you for the drink” Shawn said, smiling at him as I took his glass “so doesn’t Maurice know? Where is he? I miss his face” Shawn is wearing a tuxedo, this place is going to have the rich there “he’s with Malik, he’s such a moody brat. He wants to come back here and then I was like no, I ended up having to tell him to make him not leave us. Now he said but how I’m supposed to tell Robyn, I said I would meet her and then I goes just leave it and he goes he will send you a text. But ignore him” my poor little baby “so is everyone going to be there? How is it going to work?” I’m confused on that “you both my guests, that’s it. I will look after you, Maurice doesn’t know. Yes Naomi will be there so just a warning but I don’t think she will do it, there is a lot of important people there and her family” this is going to be so awkward.
