After reading bout the Unova kids. Like.. they’re each other’s friends. Each other’s family. But even if she never voiced it, Iris always felt a small bit of resentment towards the Twins because people always gave the credit to them. Even though she gave everything to protect Unova from harm, she was outshined by the two Hero’s. Even though she was a Hero herself

But goddd Bianca liking both Iris and Hilda. And these two being respectful of each other and agreeing to let Bianca decide. But now Iris is reminded of all the little things Hilda had stolen from her. The fame, the credit, the title, the respect. And now she’s trying to steal Bianca from her, just like she had with everything else. But she’s not going to let Hilda get away with stealing from her ever again. She’s been passive about it for to long

(But ough, I am being sane about this. Like Iris had been relatively okay with Hilda and Hilbert taking the credit from her because she knew they didn’t mean to. The public just liked them better then her. But now that she’s losing it she’s taking her anger out on everyone about anything, including her friends)

Like yeah Iris really hated the fact that the public liked the twins better than her, but they're her friends yknow, they were so supportive of her, they were nice to her and told her how strong she was, that out of all of em, they always felt safe w her bc she's strong and capable yknow, that they could really trust her. But shit they didn't really do much abt all the comments Iris gets. Like they'd tell her to just not listen to them yknow, that those comments aren't worth anything, the people of Unova were just being very bitter. But it's also the fact that they say that while bending over backwards trying to please the Unovan people too. That they never got any hate from them, that even N, who was formerly Plasma's king, was better off than her and it's so fucking unfair man.

What was it abt her that was so easy to hate? She kept repeating that question over and over and over again until she cries herself to sleep. She asked Drayden abt it, he pulled her in for a hug, telling her to not mind those comments. Told her the same thing her friends said. If anything he'll make sure that the people of Opelucid doesn't see her as weak, they should know better. But that didn't change anything, fake smiles and promises managed to fool Drayden, and still she suffered.

Then a tournament at Kalos, all the Champions are there, she still hears those whispers, how they doubt she could even get past the first round. It messes her up ofc, she told Diantha and Lance abt it. They were not happy, not one bit, and they actually did something. They went and confronted the people who looked down on her, told them off, told them how Iris was stronger than she seemed. And that actually shut them up, when Iris got to the semi finals they cheered for her, even if she lost to Lance. They became her fans, supporting her too. And that really made her happy.

So why can't her friends do that too? Did they secretly hate her? Years later she really believed that, that maybe they liked being in the limelight, that they liked the praise being said to them, that the people of Unova hold them is such high regards. She hears how Hilbert should've won against Iris, she hears how Hilda was such a hero helping around Unova. She hears how the twins were just so perfect, how they're doing a much better job than Iris, but she was doing the same as them tenfold. She's already struggling as it is, yet even w that the people of Unova just didn't like her and she doesn't understand why. She ended up hating her friends bc of that

But now she has smth yknow. She has Diantha and Lance as her parents, and they actually do smth to stop the hate. She has Kyurem, her very own legendary dragon who trusts her so much, who was so lonely before he met her. She has the Shadow Triad, despite it all, they grew close, somehow they confided w each other, and they grew loyal to her. She has Team Plasma, and they were so loyal to her as well, giving her the respect she deserves. She has Bianca,, well, had. Ofc, the person Iris wanted to be in her life still, the person who she wanted to share her future w, Hilda took her away.

Was she not satisfied with everything else she took? She had to take Bianca away from her despite Bianca telling Iris that she loves her. Hilda is so fucking unfair. For Iris, it felt like one final fuck you before she takes everything else that she finally has in her life away from her too.

bro.... okay assorted thoughts from dna mad scientist

first of all i already said it but i am SO freaking in love with namtar's character design. the practical effects are so, so, so freaking good. the way he walked... literalllyyyy i hate 2 draw comparisons, but i think abt how nowadays so much shit is just cgi'd for the fucking HELL of it like... ough you could NOT get cgi that would be anywhere near as harmonious as this costume was with the actor's performance. that cunt was feeling themselves.

and in general i will say i just. like tbh i knowww ive said it a lot but its so good and refreshing how creative some of the character designs are. theyre freaking weirdoooo. WEIRDOOO. I LOVEEE it. the other little scientist... idid not catch names (thats one thing i will say abt farscape - the names are so hard to get a hang of omg lol..) BUT i liked that design too. smile. aeryn's transition was a bit iffy but HEY. cant win em all

anyways storywise itself ok. listen im goin somewhere with this. i think its just... tumblr saturation... that makes me so sick of "found family". like im sorrryyy. i mean- i dont hate it i DONT. but the way ppl discuss it on here is so... weird bc half the time it doesnt even apply, or it's like... yeah theyre guys who like each other but its kind of just a friendship group and idk to me found family is more of an emphasis on certain themes rather than just. guys who hang out % got feelings for each other but. ok sorry thats an aside rank bc...

but.. FREAKING WHATEVER ANYWAYSSSS like my point. is its like. maybe i sound like a cunt. i dont know. im not trying 2 be edgy, but i get it sounds like that its just- i feel like shitty behaviour is necessary sometimes to make it more realistic SORRRYYY LOL.... but its weirdly refreshing when its like... the point keeps being made that yeaahhh these guys ARE starting to take a bit of a shine to one another. CHRIST. like- like it makes sense man... ha ha fuck me.. it does. like shit man. you go through so much fucking horseshit. theyre just kind of having to put up with each other. theyre first year uni flatmates right now for realll, not even that, and theyve been put through some shittt. and i LIKE that. it makes sense. & i think it will make any deeper connections more organic later on

also i love what they did with aeryn this episode also and specifically her repertoire with pilot. they have a really good fucking dynamic, man. best friends despite everything. i am actually really glad i like her bc i WAS worried as... perhaps its a more mdern media lens, but i feel like characters of her background, or her baxkground adjacent, can be done ehrhrm. not very well. but i think.... thus far i really love the way the show does handle lots of little character moments in the episodes.

LIKE THATS!!! Thats what i like!! bc- SORRY, im going 2 use trek as an example bc its a. decent comparison. but u have tng, yah? and its not entirely fair- thats episodic, yknow. but a lot of ehrm the character are extremely static and kinda. shallow in tng. lIKE I LOVEEE them sure and theyre all charismatic but i think with many of them ... ehrm lac depth... and . mm its moreso theyre always there to service individual stories, rather than the story is there to service them. and sooo they have to be a little blank- bc they are basically functions, for individual eps, and sotheyre kinda ? at the whim to change from ep to ep bc of that . and we do get some character eps but due to the nature of the show... u dont get the slow release of development, building them like you do here.

and i loveee that here bc its well doneee it is. smile. the way each of them do get fleshed out in every episode and its at a pretty organic pace like ive been saying. and so i likeee aeryn bc i feel like- i feeeel like i was worried they might go too much, too fast with her and it wouldn't work. but the steadier pace.... again, i really love pretty much all her interactions with pilot. i freaking love pilot man . sorry

also love zhaan ive said i love zhaan i want more zhaan bc her concept is everything to me. grin. had 2 say that too BUT OH

on the topic of aeryn. one thing i kinda wish.... I MEAN THEY WOULDNT. AND IT WOULDDD BE FUCKING WEIRD FOR IT TO JUST HAPPEN IN SOME RANDOM EP. but goddd part of me kinda wishes that there was no hard reset in this ep. or at least aeryn had someee lingering issues from whatever that was bc christ was that fucked up. wha tt he hell giys

speaking of, i also liked the like... non-apology from d'argo. again going back 2 what i said. i think its again... i dont know. it feels all the more... natural 2 me... like he's like "oh i would do that again. for sure." and pilots like "i expected that." i think its again wht i appreciate from farscape... theyve done this a few times where its just... a very measured response from characters instead of just freakingggg... forcing them to grovel, trying to close the episode arc story in a narratively satisfying way...instead its just again like yeahh he isnt fuckin sorryyy man. and its fine. lets play freaking music

also final thought. i insist d'argo should have paws still . like lion paws. anyways

🏳‍🌈 do you have any headcanons (lgbt, race, neuro, etc) that are important to you?

oh man a lot... um lets start with my number one everything.. qrow branwen.. literally bisexual first off. he is so into men i think. but not the men everyone ships him with -_- i think some stuff with him and clover is kinda cute but clovers literally a copppp.. the way they meet is clover arresting him and like 8 children for the crime of *checks notes* protecting civilians and ppl say qrow "my opening scene is destroying military property and shittalking the militarization of goverment and predicting its downfall AND BEING RIGHT" branwen not only falls for him but also jokes abt the cop "fixing him" like. yes qrow has every mental illness but if u think the cop is fixing him instead of the other way around.... 😬 also the other popular ship is him and ozpin.... who he met when ozpin was a principal and he was a student.... ok im done with shipping drama its just so much of what i find when looking for content for him its annoying -_-

um hes also canonically an addict and like. its undeniably true that he has depression and its not a headcanon exactly but him being explicitly mentally ill and fucking up and giving up and relying on unhealthy coping mechanisms while still being good and loved while also being called on things he does that hurt others without ever losing that love..... ough it means a lot to me even though some of the earlier writing skips over these things they are a notable part of some later volumes (volume 6 is my fav for a reason.. the reason is qrow) and not even exaggerating one of my fav things abt rwby is that they havent killed qrow off which sounds SIMPLE but hes a character following the footsteps of many cool but messed up mentor figures teaching protags and then dying for their development but he DOESNT. the idea of stepping aside for the next generation is CHALLENGED and hes CAPABLE of working on his issues and contributing to the main cast and betterment of the world not as a mentor but an equal in the fight to save the world. OUGH. WHATEVER. HE MAKES ME FEEL SO MANY THINGS.

also he isnt white i dont care about the models. there are points to be made about him and his family being vaguely indigenous and/or asian coded but the worldbuilding is sooo. its so. idk. i wouldnt say theres super strong evidence for either but i do enjoy both headcanons. i personally like to interpret him as latino/japanese bc mixed latino is the highest honor i can bestow upon a character but i also think it brings up some interesting concepts with his complicated family relationships. oh also hes nonbinary i do make the rules talk to the wall if u disagree. his gender is off the charts sir give me ur eyeliner secret. just kidding i know in my heart u do it with ur giant scythe.

HELP. thats all just qrow. Well yeah that tracks im obsessed with him. anyways ill list a few other things that are important 2 me without trying to type tooo much

um ruby yang and taiyang are all chinese. ur name is NOT taiyang xiao long if ur white (and also created by an asian man... but ppl rlly like to skip over that part) especially when contradicted with characters named shit like nora and peter (and weiss and jaune)... this specific like biggest pet peeve is people talking the character models at face value and drawing (especially yang but definitely also ruby) them as white like 🤨 thats so embarrassing. the models themselves kind of whitewash the characters (for lack of a better term, its complicated) and they do hire artists who further that but plssss do some thinking abt a man named taiyang xiao long having daughters and how that very much makes them chinese -__-

on a similar note blake shouldve been a poc. black and south asian hcs are my fave for her but like. it wouldve been so much better for several reasons. unrelated, but i like to hc that yang had ptsd before volume 3 but thats mostly because i project a lot of my childhood mental health issues on her lmao.. i could probably go on for a very long time so ill end it here. also. tyrian is trans

oh man.... i have every rwby song memorized except some of the newer ones and lionize (bc i hate adam <3) but my fav of all time is probably bad luck charm. yes because its qrows song. i think it was my second song on spotify at some point. but some of my other faves are gold, i'm the one, hero, war, the sky is falling, and like every yang song. i love the music for rwby a lot <3

gonna center this around the rv crew bc theyre the main center of the au atm and doing Everyone would be a lot (but I may return to this later to add more as I flesh out the characters better 👀👀)

tommy

he has some regrets, mainly centering around things he Didn't Do. he wishes he would've helped his sister before he left his family. wishes he wasn't such an idiot when he got home, wishes she didn't have to sacrifice herself to get him out. he really blames himself for that, thinks he was too loud and thats what got her killed

he has a lot of regret around ranboo as well, he regrets not helping in the situation more. felt like he was useless compared to wilbur and tubbo, and he blames himself for a lot of the pain he went through. maybe if he just knew a little more or was actually helpful then ranboo wouldn't have suffered so much. yeah, he survived, but tommy regrets that he wasn't able to help more in ranboos recovery

he misses watching the moths on the back porch light at his house

hoooooly shit don't get me started, this kid has so many fucking regrets, mostly of things he Did Do. he regrets running away. thinks he should've died with his parents, and has always seen himself as a coward for running away with the car and basically condemning them. he fully blames himself for their deaths, even if he would've died in the fire with them otherwise

he regrets not being there for tommy. tommy struggled with adjusting to life post-apocalypse and he wishes he would've been in a better headspace to have given him more time and care. sure, he'd also just been through an incredibly fucking traumatic event himself, but he still feels like he should've alleviated more of tommys struggles

and OHHHH BOY RANBOO :]] some of his biggest regrets circle around ranboo. he didn't even want to take ranboo in at first, for gods sake he held the guy at gunpoint the first time they met. he was gonna kill him then and there, and he still feels horrified looking back at his actions that day. and, christ, the amputation too. he was the one to propose the idea and to perform the fucking surgery. he blames himself for all of that trauma that ranboo carries (considering how fucking traumatic the procedure was w/o generalized anasthetic). those two months where ranboo was on deaths door post-surgery were months tubbo prefers not to remember, they were rough and he genuinely believes he caused all of that pain

he misses the big green and blue patterned blanket that burned with his home

ough this kid is Fucked Up man. he may not remember shit from his past but that doesn't mean he can't make just about every action or lack thereof into something to regret.

he regrets getting infected (though that's not rly in his control), wishes he hadn't have even lived because god his life made it so much harder on tommy and tubbo and wilbur. they didn't even know him for gods sake but they still cared. he wishes they didnt

they wish they could remember what was before, desperately wish to have known what their life was like. that's not so much of a regret as something that eats away at him though. every time he shows any disdain or discomfort or just not "good" emotions, he hates it. he regrets any negative emotions, feels like he's just ungrateful as shit. their first big argument with wil is a huge regret, and even though tommy was fully on their side through the argument, they still feel like it was out of line to act like that

I dunno man he just has. fucked up emotional responses and he doesn't know how to let himself feel those w/o feeling awful abt how others perceive him

they miss whatever was before, no matter what it was

now, wilbur is very interesting bc from the outside, he hides his regrets very well. but OH DEAR GOD he fucking hates so many of the choices he's made.

he regrets going to med school, he regrets moving away from his parents even though they were pieces of shit. he regrets dropping out. he regrets ghosting his friends even when it was desperate times, regrets letting eret and fundys roommate die when he should've gone to help them. he regrets staying in this fucking town, staying in that godforsaken hospital roaming the halls like some unsettled ghost. he regrets meeting tommy and tubbo, he regrets just about every aspect of what happened with ranboo, he regrets lying.

he just wishes he could do it all over again. be more honest, no matter how hard it is. he wants a do over

he misses not feeling like he's being watched all the time

How I feel about this character: OH he's such a bi disaster. But he's trying his best. Textbook himbo. Crushed under the weight of his father's expectations of him alot of the time. Probably struggles with self worth nowadays too,with the battles and family he's lost! Also he's very much like those memes abt dudes/dads where they'll mention some horrible childhood trauma and then have some funny song playing in their head like nothin even happened.! I feel like he cares very deeply for the friendships he's made and the found family he's gained with the warriors three [rip] and the avengers! Overall? Kind himbo who respects women and forgets how smart he is sometimes.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: honestly this is such a hard question cause im sure if u presented me with like,good reasons for most people then I'd be on board. But so far one of my Main ships for Thor rn is Bruce and Thor <3 GammaHammer makes me happy :} I've seen thor n valkyrie stuff too which is like aight they're all bi4bi t4t prolly,but honestly a polycule or some shit w Bruce Val and thor would be Inch resting :} I'm not sure tho! Oh and Jane Foster I Guess but she's not rlly up there.

My unpopular opinion about this character: listen i know I just called him a himbo but he's smarter than people give him credit for I think. But also he's pretty cocky at times with his fighting ability and I feel like that's his greatest downfall. He tends to sorta think he can do everything on his own,and he doesn't rely on others until he really needs to and it ends up w him or his companions hurt :(

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.: ough I wish we could've gotten more time to see him experiencing earth stuff! In other like shows n such (like one of the animated series) its funny to see him interacting with mortals and I feel like we don't get that enough. Like sure we got the "another!" Scene and if you watched the YouTube mocumentary he obviously doesn't understand money or jobs. But it's still funny and I'd like to see him go "I don't understand what that means :D" like an optimistic puppy yknow :]

How I feel about this character: I feel like. They should do more w him in the mcu! But that's just bc im a kinnie ig but it makes me sad that he's just viewed as Steve's Sidekick when he's got a personality and works so well as Sam's partner in TFAWTS! I like the representation he can bring to the table though,regarding disability (I mean even though. He's an enhanced person but yknow.) And mental health! He also shows that your past doesn't need to define you and you CAN be free and work past old mistakes.! I feel like he's a little out of touch sometimes bc of the time shifts and mental stuff goin on,but I'm not saying it's a bad thing,its just compelling to meeee

All the people I ship romantically with this character: I USED to ship stevebucky I won't lie,but I much rather prefer SamBucky bc its just better LMAO Sam is much cooler than Steve in many regards and to me Sam is a better influence on Buckys life ig? Like. Idk how to explain it well enough but their banter is better and they compliment eachother rather than one of them taking the reigns all the time. I just like the level playing field where it still feels like Bucky can be a Sidekick but his partner at the same time rather than Just Bucky Barnes. Idk if that makes sense but !

My non-romantic OTP for this character: honestly I'm not sure? I feel like if they could both get over association's with like...almost killing eachother Bucky and Nat could be friends :] both were molded to be Weapons and have to deal with their traumas and mental health. My unpopular opinion about this character: I think bucky is sort of a dork actually. Alot of people make him very stoic and Winter Soldiery but that's. Not all he is! He's a complex person who's been used and weaponized and its annoying whenever people try to say he's a stoic person or whatever. Like no bro ur thinking abt the winter soldier. Ofc the winter solider was/is part of him and that doesn't just shut off but I think it's bs to boil him down to Killing Machine Assasinator Ooo Scary! When he was also a soldier during. Fucking Ww2! He was also like shown to be a bit of a dorky guy who liked to dance and be with chick's n shit lmao,like he mustve been a charmer. And even after,like during tfatws he's shown to still have bits of that personality. He messes around with Sam's nephews and offers help without prompting and just overall wants to live a more peaceful life while still managing to be social and humorous. ("How old are you anyways?" "106.") Anyways I think what I'm saying is ppl tend to forget to split him and tws.!

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.: this is sort of similar to the Thor thing but discovering new age shit! Like I wanna see him be bad at tech or be confused by new slang. Also wanna see him like, get annoyed at how the tech is where he's at vs. The wakandan tech. That shit probably blew his socks off and then he had to go hang w Americans and went :(?? How do i use a flip phone. The beads were so convenient in Wakanda HFNEBDB. I also wish we could've actually seen how bucky Healed in Wakanda?? Like however he was helped yknow? I'm sure they (mcu) can't like do much besides say he was Magically Cured Of Mental Illness so I guess I'm glad they left it up to whatever but. Still 😔

just rewatched the red/white/black/yellow trailers and like...god. what can compare

red trailer was short but so fucking good. ruby’s versatile use of her weapon is fucking STUNNING, absolutely love the way she used the kickback from firing it to accelerate in different directions. dope as shit

the grimm looked hilariously wack, not even close to how they look now. idk i found that funny

love the constant use of petals, everywhere. not just for the red trailer but for all of them. ALSO the delightfully subtle usages of ruby’s semblance... love that

for some reason i felt like ruby’s eyes looked... more silver? in the red trailer? at least compared to the series... it’s definitely partly because of the art style change, of course, but idk

ruby has so many fuckin crosses on her outfit for a girl in a story that doesn’t have christianity... that, and the way she put her scythe in Sword Mode for the final attack in the red trailer, make me feel Emotions abt her and qrow... she rlly like imitates him so closely cause she admires him and looks up to him so much.....OUGH

weiss...i still find it weird that her actual VA doesn’t do any of her singing bits, i remember it being ESPECIALLY noticeable in volume 4, once we’ve heard her speak for like, fuckin, 3 and a half entire seasons. idk

the mirror transition between Weiss singing and starting the fight against the armor... that FUCKED

seeing the glyphs was dope, though idk how she fought the giant suit of armor..was it posesses by like a geist grimm or something?

the goddamn lighting during the singing shots halfway through the white trailer... literally that was SO cool. something abt it blew me away

also i also completely forgot that the scars around her eye are two different scars? do we know how she got the one under her eye?

building on that: i absolutely LOVE how the first theme they remix in the yellow trailer is ruby’s bc then you immediately associate yang with ruby — aside from it making sense cause ruby was the first and is the leader, it makes a bunch more sense given she and yang are like, y’know, sisters, and we should associate them strongly right off the bat. definitely a thread made stronger by ruby showing up at the end of the trailer — that’s both when we first hear her speak, and when we’re immediately told that she and yang are sisters. not to mention it’s the only time in any of the trailers that one of the other title girls shows up

the action....HHGGH THE ACTION......it was so fast-paced and incredible and i loved every SECOND of it

hello its juliens hour of posting things to tumblr that i talked about on discord/twitter first and then queued up to post on here. heres some Thoughts on pelinal whitestrake

specifically on his madnesses

anyways i was reading volume three, and

so pelinal was a relatively normal sort of... immortal butchering near explicitly nonhuman ada, until he found love in Huna, whom he freed from the ayleids and then made him a hoplite. right.

and then he LOST huna. and THATS when he started going on Madnesses

and then it establishes his madnesses destroy the landscape, just fucking like, erase bits of the continent (”He wrought destruction from Narlemae all the way to Celediil, and erased those ands from the maps[...]”)

(SORRY IF HOW I QUOTE STUFF FEELS CONDESCENDING i probably have add and this would help me process text if i was readin it. i have 1 braincell and make content for others with 1 braincell)

and then in volume six,

and like, the Madness was initially born out of pelinals grief from huna's death and it permanently changed him, right, like he was violent before but now he was Big Mad

and pelinal is an ada, descended of the et’ada, and ive already seen redditors speculate on whether he knew abt the godhead or not but whatever who cares about what redditors think

(if you’re not caught up, perrif is another name for alessia, i wasnt caught up either until very recently, ik Deep lore is unaccessible as shit, dont worry)

this is already sad enough, considering this is AFTER pelinal loses huna, but look at his following words

so hes LITERALLY TELLING MORIHAUS, “Don’t fall in love with mortals. soooo we watched more! woohoo

we finished the hunter exam arc???? i THNK? lmaoooo at the end of the ep (21 i thiiiiink) we were on, satotz was like BUT THE HUNTER EXAM ISNT EVEN OVER YET or w/e lol aigh??? whats up w/that

anyways a lot happened in the last few eps that we watched....man i shouldve written this earlier but i litrelly havent been online. anyways

so during the hunter exam stage 4...gon is literally perfect (as i always have to say), him reuniting w/leorio and kurapika was rlly sweet :’)

of course he immediately offered to help....goodest boy

and wow that kid has such a powerful nose bvhjksfbjsk he rlly be a gr8 sniffer

ok literally the part where leorio was in the cave and was like GON KURAPIKA DONT COME IN HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they both full speed sprint into the cave with 0 hesitation.....we love a 0 brain cells family

i love leorio so much he really just b running around w/a switchblade and a breifcase, both of which he barely used during the exam lmao

so bummed that leorio slicing up tht snake happened offscreen. how tf did that even work, he doesnt have a goddamn sword

gon just being able to hold his breath for almost 10 mins makes so much sense somehow...he rlly is one of those shounen protags who is just casually a ridiculous human being and doesnt even fully realize that its weird

that shot of him carrying everyone out of the cave was so sweet

and of course gon vs snakes....hes so perfect....he trusts his friends so much :’)

also random aside but im so glad tonpa is out and idk if i talked abt this in my prev post but i feel like in most shounen he wouldve been like, so inspired by gons shounen protag energy that he wouldve changed his tune and taken the exam genuinely and either passed or declared that hed definitely pass next year - but no, he was awful til the end, this aint that kind of story (yet...?)

have i mentioned that i hate hisoka? cause i hate hisoka. nasty ass crusty clown bitch

what else happened in the phase 4 stuff. oh yeah killua clowned on those triplet dudes (and hanzo lowkey), which was great

ok the opening not having changed this whole time is so funny. imagine if it never changed and its still basic and cheery when everything gets crazy and dark lmao

ooh my god i forgot to mention this last time but i feel like gons backpack is full of hair gel and hair gel ONLY, he only brought hair gel and his fishing rod. this is canon ty

oh gosh when killua and gon reunited at the end of the 4th stage....OOOUGH so precious...those two are so cute god. i want a compilation of their cute moments together i hope that exists

GOD OH FUCK the scene on the airship where kurapika and gon talked bc gon was clearly bothered by something (what happened w/hisoka obvs. i hate that clown bitch) and OUGHHHH OH GOD gon crying LICHRALLY killed me oh man :( i was literally just chanting NO NO NO!!!! at the TV cause seeing tiny baby boy upset was so sad....and ik it gets soooo much worse oh god i cant handle it

the whole convo was really good and really anti-shounen (once again...feel like thatll be a theme lmao) bc like, it was a healthy convo where gon talked honestly abt his feelings instead of using some shounen protag BS phrases like ‘it doesnt matter!!! ill be stronger next time!!!’ or w/e....and kurapika is a such a good parent oh man :(

again, cant get over how genuine and uncomplicated the teamup of the main 4 characters has been....literally no ‘we’re competing and only teaming up for convenience/the hunter exam comes before our friendship’ nonsense

the interviews w/the candidates was interesting! i love how the old dude was SO not picking up what Creepy Hisoka was putting down lmaooooo

that poor old guy lmao he seems like a decent dude, he was like oh i dont wanna fight gon and killua cause theyre kids,....RIP u red shirt legend

the bracket setup was so interesting oh man....very funky and creative. and then it wasnt really fully utilized lol, i feel like thats indicative of a bigger patten - hxh so far has been really creative and interesting, and clearly uninterested in setting things up simply to check off boxes on a shounen tropes checklist....i can already see what makes it so great if this keeps up bc daym, so many shounen have their interesting themes drowned out by the overwhelming necessity for the plot to hit certain shounen story beats, smothering otherwise new/fresh ideas and rerouting them back into the same old over-trodden shounen trope territory

on a meta level, i wonder if the author was like, allowed more leniency (’do whatever bro’) bc hed already been successful w/yu yu hakusho. i havent seen/ready yyh so idk how ‘typically shounen’ it is but thats st that im curious about

aaanyways. the tournament starts w/hanzo beating up gon for THREE HOURS STRAIGHT. jesus dude. so yeah obviously leorio and kurapika are the best parents ever and them getting so righteously angry over seeing this happen to gon is so heartwarming and good and also a big big mood

they love their son okay. also that was fucked up. ALSO i find it interesting that thats only the second time we’ve seen kurapikas eyes turn red

i bet that hisoka saw that also and somethign something phantom troupe, see bottom of post in predictions section

seeing gon get beat up like that made my heart hurt :( especially when hanzo broke his arm...oof.

god also i cant believe hanzo is 18 hes literally bald hvbhjafbjs whats w/hxh and making everyone a teen or younger lmao god

also omfg i love that leorio and kurapika are lichreally 19 and already have kids wow thats amazing especially considering their kids are 12. its so funny that theyre such Parents already considering that the age gap is kinda hilariously small, espec bc i thought that they (mostly leorio) were a lot older at first lmao

the fact that gon gets to win that fight against hanzo was a legit shock to me....again, anti-shounen. we’d normally want to see what our protag can do in a fight - espec in a tournament-style arc where the consequences arent as high typically - so we’d want him to go further, which is easy here bc to move on he has to lose, which is easy bc gon is a baby w/no offensive capabilities (that we’ve seen)

god ive talked abt this already but its so fascinating how we havent really had any full-on fights???? espec w/the main 4 characters????? we still barely know what they can do....WE STILL HAVENT BEEN INTRODUCED TO NEN????

ive been spoiled (i guess?) to the existence of nen but thats abt it. what can it do? what is it? fuck if i know lmao. so i could totally see them pulling a ‘we were using nen the whole time’ w/like hisoka or st, OR a ‘YOU were using nen the whole time w/out realizing it’ w/gon

ok anyways. that hanzo fight was rough but also gon is literally the best. he was trying to bargain w/hanzo to figure out a way where they could come to a conclusion that would satisfy them both - despite hanzo clearly outmatching gon in skill, so the effort on hanzo’s part would be pointless and simply for gon’s benefit....basically the entire proposal sound ludicris and insulting to suggest (or st, idk how to phrase it), but since its gon of COURSE he only has the purest of intentions and means it so genuinely that you cant even be mad at him

hanzo just knocking him out lmaoooo and then hes just out for the rest of the tournament???? thats so wild and...whatdya know....un-shounen!

then he wakes up n his lil x-shaped forehead bandage....ough so cute

also the whole convo he and satotz had abt gon’s victory and hunter license and earning/deserving it was so good :’)

also i feel like the show did a good job of humanizing characters like satotz. i legit thought he was a robot or st at first but it feels more like hes just A Guy now,....albeit a weird guy, but thats to be expected. its like, yeah this guy also took the hunter exam at one point, wow.

anways this is already long and i havent even gotten to the killua stuff yet lol so im gonna stop here for now. and introducing a new segment..........the prediction corner! where i dump my speculations/predictions, entirely for my future self’s benefit

PREDICTIONS:

first off as i alluded to above, i think that hisoka has some sort of connection to the phantom troupe (does he know them? maybe not, but he knows where to find them? idk) and when he saw kurapikas red eyes, was able to figure out that whole deal and said st to kurapika during that fight like ‘hey i can help you find the phantom troupe if you want :))))’

i kinda said this earlier but i predict that kurapika might get really wrapped up in revenge and go off the rails a bit. we’ll see, so far that hasnt really happened, but for some reason i kinda think that it will? we’ll see

i (incorrectly) predicted that killua would have known that illumi was there the whole time, considering that he was able to noticing the hunter exam dudes following him in phase 4, etc....but BOY was i wrong about that oof

iiii think that the whole ‘the hunter exam isnt over yet!!!’ stuff will be an opportunity for killua to pass this year still, maybe? idk abt that tho

i have more predictions but i forgot :( also some of them are more relevant to the next few eps ill make a post on
