I’ve been meaning to get around to making new period dress form for a long time, particularly given my first go around experimenting with an Edwardian pattern and expanding foam turned out decidedly wonky.

I wanted to make a soft form mannequin this time that would be pliable enough to shape with corsetry but also be sturdy enough to work on the stand.

I started off with Atelier Sylphe’s Victorian Mannequin pattern - no alterations. For the body fabric I used a (truly awful) herringbone poly-wool that has been sitting and taking up to much space in my personal stock for too long (I think acquired during wrap from a production). I would never want this fabric to touch my skin, but it is extremely sturdy with no stretch and next to no ease, easy easily takes and holds a shape. I used the wrong side of the fabric which has less of a nap and is lighter and more even in colour. The unpleasantness of the fabric aside, it gives a an appealingly neutral historical feel which works for a Victorian form.

I didn’t think to take many photos whilst making it!

Putting together was straightforward. All seams were left raw internally. For the neckpiece I cut a circle of foamex that glued the seam allowance of the neck fabric two then whipped into the neck of the dress form. I did the same process for the base, whilst also marking out and building up a space for a pole if I want to use this on a stand in the future. For now she will be a table top dress form.

The body was then stuffed with a mix of recycled wadding I had lying around and fabric scraps and off cuts. I also wedged a large sturdy pole I had lying around down the centre to add extra rigidity and stability. The wadding needs a bit of a smoosh around once it’s settled, but she’s turned out nicely!

Hey, so I heard you mention that CQ mentioned that Freshs possession process is “kind of gross.” Or something like that. Do you have any ideas/theories about what it is exactly? I’m currently writing a fic on ao3 and there’s a scene where he possesses/takes over someone’s body, but I forget if the specifics were ever mentioned?

I have theories but I fell there too…. Idk gorey/disturbing to be canon?????

I do!! I have a variety, but one of the main ones I've internalized to the point where I don't even know if it's been stated or if it was made up by the wider collective is of Fresh doing some form of oral possession- Y'know that whole kiss-list thing? And the having multiple tongues for ???? Reasons? It'd be HORRIBLE if the way Fresh possessed people was by crawling into their body through that and working his way to ~wherever~ your soul is (Most people consider it the chest, but also some people say Fresh has it up in the head? so honestly, I'd just say it varies and move on)

I know multiple people have similar takes to this as well, and considering the factors it IS compelling. Something about the fact that Fresh has nigh negative romantic inclinations naturally, and a total lack of boundaries- as well as the horror of taking something typically positive to most people and making it wildly wildly negative, if you're the type who enjoys "conscious hosts" styles of Fresh hosts (and there is DEFINITELY evidence that says pretty directly "yeah you're conscious and in pain about it as a host congrats")

If you're looking for more details, I'm willing to answer more privately to really lay on some descriptions for you- but for the sake of general people's knowledge, I'll leave this here for now! Like I said, I genuinely can't remember if this is something that has been said (or rp'd out in, for example, Loveball) before directly by CQ, but if I find some sources in favour of it I'll make an edit to this post to add em on! Pensively realizing ages later that, of the triplets, Alma most sees herself in Bruno. Like yes there’s a bit of Julieta’s generous healer persona and Pepa’s determined fire but...Bruno’s burden. The expectations thrust upon him when he wasn’t ready. I sort of see Alma as more quiet and reserved where Pedro was outspoken and extroverted, too, and Bruno’s playacting pulls in that but mostly he’s looking at the long, long run, more than anyone else possibly could and just....idk.

Alma and Bruno share anxiety, fretting, fussiness, they’re both actors because you cannot convince me Alma did not MAKE herself be the leader she became, this wasn’t something she ever wanted. And it works both ways!  He learned how he was to comport himself from her, not out of fear or obligation but because, well, if mama can put on this brave face then so can he. 

Anyway y’all should go listen to Manchester Orchestra’s “Bed Head” nine million times like I have and then you too can cry tears of pain.
