After everything finally settles, El gets really into arts and crafts. She’s seen the art that Will makes and knows that she’s probably not going to be capable of that level of artistry, but watching her brother paint and draw makes her want to be creative too.
She didn’t like school in California, but she liked making her diorama for class, painting and cutting and glueing the pieces of it together. She had decorated the box that she kept letters from Mike in with stickers, drawings, and pictures. She liked doing that, she realized. She liked being creative.
She goes to Will for help. Nervously tells him that she wants to make her own kind of art, but that she doesn’t know where to start. Will is extremely enthusiastic with his help, he’s excited that El has decided to explore her creativity and he’s honored that she’s asking him for help.
After brainstorming ideas, they decide to give scrapbooking a try. El likes this idea because it gives her a place to keep all of her memories, a place that she can easily access and flip through. She can fill it with pictures and drawings and newspaper clippings of her family and her friends, the most important people in her life. And she can decorate it however she wants to. It’s perfect.
Joyce and Hopper are more than happy to support and fund this endeavor, Joyce slips El some money for art supplies with a wink that makes El grin, and Hop drives El and Will to the nearest craft store so they can get everything they need.
They come home that day with four bags filled with supplies, running up the stairs to El’s room with excited giggles that make Joyce and Hop share a secret fond smile. It warms both of their hearts to see their kids happy.
Earlier in the week El had asked Jonathan if he had any pictures of their family and friends printed out that he could give her for her scrapbook, and Jonathan had dug through all of his prints to find some for her.
El’s favorite picture, the one she puts front and center on the very first page of her book, is a picture of the Party that Jonathan had taken right before the move to California. In it, there are tears on people’s faces at having to say goodbye, but everyone is smiling and El can see the love etched into everyone’s features.
El falls in love with scrapbooking pretty quickly. She fills her first one with all sorts of mementos of her life; photos, movie ticket stubs, pressed flowers from a bouquet Mike had gifted her. Each item is carefully labeled in El’s painstakingly neat handwriting.
Everyone notices how much she loves her new craft and start contributing to it in whatever ways they can; Will draws pictures of whatever El asks for on the pages, Max finds her some cool stickers to decorate with, Steve buys her some craft scissors to make fun patterns with.
Maybe the biggest contribution comes from Jonathan. Since starting her books, El has developed a new interest in photos and photography, and Jonathan has been showing her how he does a lot of the work he does with his camera. He’s happy to teach her, he likes spending time with her and he’s glad that she’s found something to pour her creativity into.
For her next birthday, Jonathan gifts her her very Polaroid camera. He’s been saving up for it for her for a while now, and he’s nervous when she starts to unwrap it at the birthday party the group decided to throw for her.
El, of course, loves it. She sets the camera down very gently and carefully before launching herself at Jonathan to hug him tightly and whisper a soft and sincere “thank you” to him.
Jonathan wraps his arms around her and gives her squeeze, “You’re welcome.”

In honour of Noah getting the first 3 scripts for Season 5, this is my Season 5 bucket list (I may be very early so this is my early one) I’ll try to make it as realistic as possible 😭
- Nancy survives.
This is the number one thing I need to happen, I will not be able to handle it if she dies
- I’m also very much on the side of I want everyone to survive.
Stranger Things is very much about the relationships between all of the characters, and it might not be the main part of the show but it is an important one and it’s what makes Stranger Things so great. I think it would massively suck if they were to kill any of the Hopper-Byers family after everything they’ve been through and Hopper losing anyone would just confirm his theory that he’s a “curse”.
- Ronance hug.
I need this like I need air. Nancy Wheeler needs a hug and I need Robin to be the one to give it to her.
- More Ronance scenes.
I mean obviously I ship Ronance so of course I want more scenes of them together, BUT I also really love their friendship. After Nancy lost Barb, Robin is the first girl she’s befriended that didn’t have romantic intentions and I think their friendship is really something special.
- Nancy to finally get closure with Barb and realise it wasn’t her fault
I realise she kind of got closure in S2, but I don’t think she really did. She clearly still blames herself, and what happened shaped her into who she is today. And we know she never really spoke to anyone about what happened because when she tried to talk to Steve he brushed her off. So I think she needs someone to tell her it wasn’t her fault.
- Nancy/Robin/Jonathan/Steve/Argyle team up.
This would be the team up of the CENTURY.
- Nancy/El scenes
I’ve needed this since S1. I think they’re quite similar in some ways and it’d be so nice to see them have some scenes together
- Jargyle scenes
I mean… they’re literally hilarious together. Imagine Nancy, Robin and Steve having to put up with high Jargyle 😭
- Not St*ncy endgame
Okay. Don’t hate me, and I’m sure this is pretty well known by now but I’m very much anti St*ncy and I’m not even sorry about it. Those two getting back together would feel like ten steps backwards and a dishonour to both of their characters. Steve’s character for the past two seasons has revolved around finding a girlfriend and I think he needs to realise that he doesn’t need a girlfriend and it’s okay to be on your own. It would also be a very misogynistic ending for Nancy. I could talk about this forever but I’ll just leave it at that. 😭
- JOPPER DATE!
Pretty sure David Harbour already confirmed this but I’m so excited to see Jopper in a relationship!!
- Mike being a complete menace to society and Robin getting to experience it
I mean, Robin hasn’t spent much time with Mike yet and I just think him being the little shit he is would be so funny for Robin to witness. I can just imagine her turning to Nancy and saying “You’re related to him?”
- Will/Robin scenes
This is an obvious one, but I think talking to Robin would help Will a LOT. I don’t know how likely it is to happen but I think it’d be really nice for Will to know he’s not on his own.
- LUMAX DATE!
I NEED IT. They arranged it last season and Max DIED so it’s only right they get their date in Season 5!!
- More Erica
Not much to say about this, we all need more Erica.
- More Hopper-Byers family
El finally has a family and somewhere she belongs, Hopper just came back from the dead. I need this family to be happy more than anything.
- If not Byler endgame, I need to see Will accept himself (at least somewhat) and finally be happy.
I like both Mileven and Byler, and honestly my opinion on who should be endgame changes on a daily basis based on the fans lmao. It would be awesome to see Byler endgame, but I would like to see Will accept himself and maybe come out to his mom??
- Nancy & Mike hug.
This has to happen. It has to. And not right before one of them dies either. Give me more Wheeler siblings. Perhaps a parallel to S1 when Nancy rushes out of the Byers to hug Mike but this time Mike rushes to hug Nancy??

Part 2 of 2 (Part 1 here):
So even though it's made clear that Jonathans role in this group is irreplaceable, there are some important things to note moving forward. And it's mainly this - his family doesn't need him in the same way they once did. We see in Lenora that they aren't having money problems anymore and this is because of Dr. Owens. He set them up in a nice house and presumably got Joyce a job. We don't see Jonathan working for the first time and Joyce had enough in her savings account to pay a ransom for Hopper, so financially they are doing ok. Although Jonathan doesn't get his car fixed, but this could have just been him delaying dealing with things (He does that a lot this season. It also provides a nice metaphor for him being stuck. And there is a whole thing with junkyards and broken down cars on this show.) This is where Hopper comes in. Because now they have a father figure who Jonathan respects. One who can handle shit and only left because he had no choice. Hopper can help pay the bills. Hopper can take care of Will and El. And most importantly, Hopper can take care of Jonathan too. Because he never really had a dad who did that. Jonathan is now the one who is in need of advice. He doesn't know what he's doing with his life and he feels so much guilt and trauma he can't figure it out or talk about it. But Hopper can protect his family while he goes to college now which could ease some of his anxiety. I think not only will Hopper be the one to get Jonathan to figure out what he wants, but Will will have a role here too. Because this whole thing has really been about Will. Jonathan doesn't want to leave him and it's clear with everything going on with Will and his sexuality that Will still needs his support. Hopper being supportive and accepting of him too will go a long way in making Jonathan more comfortable with leaving. Because Hopper isn't Lonnie. But Will also doesn't need Jonathan in the same way he once did. His support and advice are welcome, but Will is older now. Him being more comfortable with himself makes a difference here and this is where Mike comes in. Mike and Jonathan are shown to have an emotional bond with Will throughout the series, just a different one - Jonathan's is sibling/paternal, and Mike's is a deep friendship. The only reason Mike and Will aren't communicating well in season 4 is because of their feelings and confusion over their sexualities. Which is why Will is grateful for Jonathans support in the pizza place - he thinks he's all alone. But he isn't. Mike does return his feelings and once the two of them establish this, they will also reestablish their emotional connection and deep friendship that they've had. While Will will always need Jonathan it's his relationship with Mike that's going to be the catalyst for a lot of plot points moving forward. Because they have a bond that is different than anyone else's. It was Mike who got through to Will in the shed first. Will is going to need Mike in a way that he doesn't need Jonathan and I think knowing this will allow Jonathan to realize that he isn't selfish for wanting to leave. (I think this could also lead to a good friendship dynamic between Mike and Jonathan). Will's always going to want him around and want to talk but he also wants what's best for Jonathan too. Which leads me back to my original point in part 1 about how Jonathan's lying isn't going to mess up his relationship with Nancy.
Because his lying was about Will and not Nancy. And yes Nancy will be upset with him and has every right to be, but they have a conversation that they've been waiting to have since their fight in season 3. They need to clear the air about a lot of things. While this may lead to them deciding to go their separate ways for a little while, they will be brought back together for the inevitable showdown at the end of the season. And we already know how well they work together in a crisis. They showed that in seasons 1-3 and then went and showed us that Nancy and Steve make a terrible team to contrast it. Steve and Nancy's leadership made their problems worse and got people hurt/killed. Everything went wrong this season and part of that was because Jonathan, Will, and Mike weren't there (and of course El too but she plays a different role here). The group needs to be together in all the right ways for everything to work out for them because they each have a specific role to play. I think it's likely that Jonathan will move away for a bit, either for college or he will get a job outside of Hawkins. And then come back when things start happening by the end like Nancy (and possibly the other older teens). This is of course assuming that Joyce doesn't kill him for not applying to school like he said he did. I feel like she's going to be more pissed than Nancy. But I do think that Nancy and Jonathan will reach an understanding and since they are both involved with what's going on with the upside-down (and I think they will be more involved with helping Mike and Will) I don't see them severing ties completely. I can still see them checking in with each other for updates even if they aren't together.

Steve and El has the same journey through the seasons.
S1 both in a limbo. El is in between her old life in the lab that she desperately tries to get away from and Steve is in between his old friends and his relationship with Nancy.
Both has a thing for a Wheeler and both fight because or thanks to a Wheeler. Both getting involved with the supernatural and desided to risk their life for the Wheeler saving everybody's ass in the mean time.
Steve fights with Jonathan is (while understandable) is bad. And even though lot would disagree with me. El saving Mike isn't a good thing. She take away his right to choose and even after he nade a choice she said Nope that's not how you do it. Like both choice he made would've a big impact on the story.
Jumping of the cliff could have two ends. He dies and the bullies are taken care of. Or he doesn't die (he is a main in the end) which would poke wholes in Will dying their and the bullies still get their piece.
The second one was him standing up for Will. Yeah it was stupid and he probably would have get his shit rocked but it was his choice. Also If he did ebd up fighting the bullies I would have cheered him on, even if it was sad abd cringe. He at least did it.
Also both of them has to choose between their old life and new and they choose the new and protect it.
Both El and Steve gets with the Wheeler in the end
In s2 both has a journey where they find a siing like person to them who teach them something important that sets them on the track of groth.
Also El is stalking Mike and Max through a window jumping to conclusions and ending up hurting Max for that. And would you look at that! In s1 Steve lookes through a window and sees Nancy and Jonathan together, he jumps to conclusion and ends up hurting Jonathan!
They yet again wrapped up in the supernatural and being the protector of the bunch. Being the one standing in front and saving everybody's ass!
In S3 both becomes friends with an unlikely person. That they spent nost of the run time with. They friendship gets created in the Mall and both Steve and El could be themself more around them.
Both Steve and El grows thabks to that person.
Also they both single through it
They yet again the protector of the bunch now fullly commited to saving and protecting their loved ones.
In s4 neither find their place. Both has a sibling like relationship with a lesbian/gay who has a crush they fully support (I set on that even though El had no idea who could Will have a crush on she write it to Mike so they can scheme together and get him and his crush together!) They also have something going on between them and the Wheeler that is left open to the next season, untouched and still could happen.
The parellel in S4 becomes perfect the moment both El and Steve realizes that them and Wheeler could never be together that way because their assigned Wheeler is in love with a Byers

i love hearing what you have to say about season 4!! i promise it’s not too long lol, anyway i have a question for you: what do you think the next season holds for mike & el? i’m a little worried tbh
ahhh thank you !! same rules apply: spoilers ahead, so please read no further and blacklist/filter out the ‘s4′, ‘st4′, ‘spoilers’ tags if you don’t want to see anything !!
i’m going to talk about them both as individuals and as a pair but first, i have to say that i don’t personally feel like you have to worry about them breaking up or anything again this season. i think s4 is really going to establish romantic jopper and once that happens, i don’t see them, mileven, or jancy not being endgame unless someone actually dies. which -- i’m not going to think about the possibility of anyone dying until i’m forced to confront it, so. this is fiction and it’s already unrealistic and i’m gonna take my ‘everyone survives, happiness all around, time to relax’ endings and go. anyway, i would love to add lumax to this list but i honestly think it could go either way depending on what happens in s4. that’s a different essay, though.
i tend to think that the most important dynamic on the show is the one between the whole group and i just don’t really see them spending much more time trying to develop romantic relationships outside of the ones set up since s1/2. maybe steve, robin, and will get love interests, maybe they decide to develop dustin and suzie more, maybe suzie is never even mentioned again, idk. but these will probably all be secondary -- as in less screen time, not less important than the main romances, but probably still less developed. unless it happens to be a new person added to the main cast. which, as of now, the only new mains are brett and priah who has gone from recurring to regular. so.
i think s3 showed how messy and complicated romantic relationships (or, really just relationships in general) can be. everyone was arguing, there was miscommunication all around, everyone thought they knew what was best, no one was seeing eye to eye. but when it comes down to it, they would do anything for each other. they understand each other better than anyone else ever could. i can’t see them spending another season on breakups and romance drama after the ending of s3.
mike and el have already been separated once before. this time, mike knows for sure that she’s alive and that’s she’s with the byers. this time, el won’t be kept completely isolated away from everyone else. they’ve made plans to meet for the holidays. they can still call and talk to each other as much as they want. i’m hoping they handle being separated this time better than they did in s2. i don’t want mike to be moping and i don’t want el to spend a lot of the season thinking about how much she misses him. in fact, i think in their case that some distance could be good for them. the same for jancy and jopper, too, honestly. it’ll be nice to see them existing outside of these relationships while still acknowledging how important they are.
as far as i know, the byers and el stuff has not started filming yet so all there is to speculate on are rumors, the audition tapes, and logical guesses about where the story goes after s3. el obviously moves away with the byers. we still don’t know where. she’ll still be mourning hopper and trying to figure out life without her powers. and, of course, she’ll be in a long distance relationship with mike. i think she’ll be having a hard time and she’ll wish that mike was around, but she’ll realize she’s got a pretty good support system around her now with the byers, too. i’m very, very excited for more joyce and el content particularly, but there’s gotta be some great scenes with her and will and jonathan as well.
there’s only one audition tape that i can confidently tie into the byers + el plot(s?) and it’s the queen bee/mean girl character ‘angela’. if we’re running with the whole ‘there may be some truth to the audition vids’ thing, then this one teases that el will be going to school and that angela will be bullying her. this is something she would probably want to talk about with mike (b i g troy s1 vibes) but i don’t know if she actually would ? so this is probably more a thing that el and will could bond over or that she could talk about with joyce or maybe jonathan. i do think there will be at least a few calls between the two of them before the action really hits and the whole group is (hopefully...) reunited.
so, el -- at least in the beginning of s4 -- will be going to school where ‘angela’ bullies her, forming a bond with joyce + will + jonathan and becoming part of the family, mourning hopper (+ hopefully having conversations about him + his past with joyce), missing her friends back in hawkins, continuing to learn how to navigate life without her powers, and trying to maintain a long distance relationship with mike.
mike... i’ve been seeing some wild theories about him today but they aren’t really that far-fetched i think. first, going back to the audition tapes, the ‘eddie’ audition i saw makes it seem like mike is going to be part of the hellfire club with dustin. i’ve recently learned that there’s another version of the scene where ‘eddie’ is only talking to dustin and mike might not be a part of the club after all. if he isn’t part of the club, then the basketball v. hellfire, jocks v. nerds thing turns into lucas v. dustin and mike’s probably there just caught in the middle while max is off distancing herself from everyone.
at this point, i really want mike and max to become good friends. i think the end of s3 gave them the perfect opportunity. s4 max has s2 mike vibes. it’s not the same situation at all, but he knows kinda what she’s feeling and they could connect through that + the fact that they’ll both be missing el. i also just really want... some wheeler siblings content. i’m hopeful that s4 gives us good nancy and mike scenes bc there’s no reason not to give us good nancy and mike scenes (+holly!). however...
while there’s proof that gaten and sadie and natalia and priah have all been filming since production restarted, and while i have reason to believe that caleb has been filming a lot inside/at the studio recently... there’s no evidence that finn has been on set. there’s none for maya and joe, either, but people have said that finn isn’t even in atlanta right now. maybe he is and maybe he just hasn’t been seen and maybe he’ll pop back up tomorrow. or, maybe he already filmed whatever he needed to film for hawkins before production stopped.
the wild theory that’s popped up today is that everything gets to be too much for him in hawkins and he just... hops on a train to go visit el + the byers. i don’t know if i buy it, but it is interesting to note that he was sitting with them at the table read. and since we can guess that steve and robin will still be working at the video store, robin and nancy will be investigating pennhurst together, lucas and max may have some angst, joyce and murray are probably teaming up for the finding/saving hopper plot, and el is going to bond with will and jonathan, it seems like the order might mean a little something. i’d even bet that dustin and erica have scenes with them bonding over d&d.
now this theory pretty much only exists because no one’s seen finn on set and one of the paps posted some pics of some trains. there’s also always theories about how there will be issues at home with the wheeler fam and if that’s going to happen, what better time than in s4 when all of his friends are pulling away and el’s gone again. so if he is missing el (and will) that much, and if he has any reason to worry about her and how she’s doing, or if the party becoming distant and issues at home are weighing on him and he feels like he needs to get away, he’s absolutely the type to venture off on a train by himself. i don’t know how it would work since he’s definitely supposed to still be in school and his friends/nancy at least would notice he’s gone, but.. it’s fun to think about and we’ve got zero actual content to go off of right now.
another way i could see mike’s plot going is that he’s the one trying to keep the party together this season. playing mediator with lucas and dustin, becoming better friends with max, being the connection between the hawkins plot and the byers plot (along with nancy).
there was also talk of him joining the track team bc the track has been set up with hawkins high colors for filming. but mike ‘this isn’t a stupid sports game’ wheeler? i don’t think so... basically, no one knows at the moment what’s happening with mike wheeler in s4 lol.
s4 mike is just like s4 byers fam -- a complete mystery to me currently. i don’t personally think that he’ll be leaving school and hopping on a train to visit el. i think he’ll be a part of the hellfire club with dustin, or that he won’t and instead will be attempting to keep the party from completely disbanding. i hope that we get wheeler siblings scenes and that max and mike have a breakthrough and become better friends. i also feel like he’ll be having some complicated feelings about hopper, the last interaction they had, etc. and, again, the whole long distance thing with el.
so... mike and el broke up in s3. it was messy. but then they reconciled. and then hopper “died”. s3 ended with them at this weird place where she’s heard him say that he loves her and she’s told him that she loves him back. things are a little awkward in the scene bc everything has changed at this point, but a kiss, an ‘i love you’, planning to meet up on the holidays, and promising to call frequently all sounds like they’re back together and going to try making the long distance thing work to me.
i think they’ll be together when s4 starts. i think that we’ll probably only see them talking on the phone or their radios for the first few eps. maybe we’ll see flashbacks or something to them being together on the holidays. the distance might be hard and they’re definitely going to be missing each other. like... el doesn’t have mike or hopper with her now and i’m thinking the party is going to be drifting apart, plus they’re both probably going to have other personal issues that have nothing to do with each other or the party. maybe they’ll be experiencing some emotional distancing of their own while dealing with the aftermath of hopper’s “death”, the move, and whatever’s going on with them at home and at school. i think that once they reunite (probably not until the last half of the season), they’re likely to be stronger than ever.
now, onto personal theories that have zero basis. for some reason, i can’t get it out of my head that this season might dive into psychological horror a little bit ? like a greatest fears type of thing ?? and i keep thinking about brenner popping back up and using the people el loves to get to her or something and 👀👀

ST3 really messed me up last night but there are some things that I feel should have been touched on so here I go:
Billy and Max’s relationship should have had a development scene. Obviously after max told billy to leave her and her friends alone they kind of had a sort of bonding period and we should’ve got that development instead of the Billy and Karen scenes 🙄
Billy and Karen shouldn’t have happened at all in any way AT ALL and I’m so glad that he told her to leave him alone but I still feel as if those scenes weren’t need because they really didn’t do anything for the plot of the show. I’m also glad that Karen came to her senses and thought about her family and not just her hormones because she must have forgot that Billy is a TEENAGER who is around the age of her oldest two children 😕 sis was ready to catch a case over some teenage dick smh
I don’t care what anyone says Mike and Elevens relationship is cute af 🤷🏽‍♀️ along with Max and Lucas. Yes Mike and El kissed a lot but they’re young and really like each other and in the honeymoon phase ALONG with Max and Lucas. So they’ll fight and argue over stupid shit but in the end their friendship is more important (if that makes sense) idrk where I’m going with this one but they’re cute and leave them alone
MAX AND EL ARE THE FRIENDSHIP I DIDNT KNOW I NEEDED. I really loved that Max helped El find who SHE was and who everyone wanted her to be. El’s not just Mikes girlfriend, shes not just Hoppers adopted/daughter, she’s not the groups secret weapon, she’s not the girl with powers, and she’s definitely not the girl who was abused as a child. Eleven is just a teenage girl trying to find herself in a world with monsters and shit and for Max to come around and help her find herself was really what El and all of us needed
Will Byers and Dustin Henderson just needed their friends and they weren’t there for them. After all the shIT WILL HAS BEEN THROUGH HE DESERVED JUST ONE FUCKING GAME OF D&D, he deserved it. When Dustin needed his friends to believe that his girlfriend was real they didn’t until they needed her to save the world smh. THEY DESERVED BETTER.
Will Byers had a breakdown and I was here for it. Not in a bad way. I think he needed to let off that steam because of everything from his friends being more worried about their girlfriends to the MF being back to Mikes comment about him not liking girls. Which I don’t think Mike should’ve thrown that back in face ESPECIALLY if he was the only person that knew. Lucas to the time to TRY and apologize but MIKE DIDNT?
Joyce and Hopper are a dynamic duo. Joyce deserves happiness and to not have every love interest killed off. This move will be good for her and the kids even though I feel like they’re going to come back at some point.
Hopper was so accepting of death, which I guess you kind of have to be when it’s right ther but ugh it was still so sad. He and Joyce will never get to have that date on Friday at 7 at Enzo’s 😪.
Steve Harrington and Robin. A beautiful pairing although they had me fools when I thought there was a possible love relationship going to happen
ALEXI DIDNT DESERVE TO DIE
I don’t care what anyone says about this either because I believe they Billy truely deserved better. This season really showed us a different side of him and for him to get redemption at the END of the season is fucked up😪. Because like I said earlier he and Max obviously had to bond over the 2 year time period and I’m pretty sure during that time there was some sort of affection between them and I don’t think El should’ve been the only one to bring that out of him. HOWEVER we did see a broken piece of him during the sauna scene towards Max, but I guess 🤷🏽‍♀️ (I’m not excusing anything he’s done cause it was all shitty af)
Eleven, 011, Jane Hopper. All she wanted was a family and a home and when she finally got it, it was ripped away from her. And then she lost her powers 😪 there was a point in time where I really didn’t think she was going to make to the end because she was just so tired and she kept pushing herself to keep everyone safe.
ERICA SINCLAIR a true icon 👏🏽 she had so many iconic lines: “isn’t it time you died” “you can’t spell America without Erica” “Commence Opperation Child Endangerment” “nerds” plus her whole speech about communism. A true icon
Maxine Mayfield, Max, Mad Max. I’ll never get over how hurt she was about Billy which goes to show that had gotten closer and we should’ve been able to see it because although they ‘hated’ each other they were still siblings and loved each other without admitting it
Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers. Really we should call Nancy: Nancy Byers because come on, it’s gonna happen 🤗. I didn’t really like the whole working for the newspaper scenes, I don’t think they did anything for the season but I guess if you look at it from a being involved type view it all works out. Many and her moms heart-to-heart was really nice because none of the other parents, except Joyce and Hopper, are around to comfort their children and be around them to ask about their days.
Can we talk about the last episode. Jeez oh man, I cried like a baby. Like a really long ugly cry from Billy’s redemption scene all the way to the Byers and El leaving. What really fucked me up was when El started reading the letter and Hopper did the voice over. It was so sad because he never got to have that talk with her and I know he really wanted to. That letter is really the last heart felt thing she has left from Hopper and it makes it worse when we don’t know who is actually in Russia
But let’s talks about that. WHO TF IS IN RUSSIA???? I’ve seen some people say Billy and others say Hopper but really it can be either one here’s why. When Joyce turned the keys Hopper was on the other side of the magnetic force field and could have got transported to the Russian lab like how El got zapped to the upside down at the end of season 1. It could be Billy because he was used by the MF and I don’t think it’s done with him just like that because if that was the case Will wouldn’t be connected to it 🙂. So maybe after billy ‘died’ the Russians came back and took him and he woke up in Russia. AND where did they get the demogorgon from which leads to believe that a little sliver of the gate is still open somehow because how are they keeping it alive out of its habitat aside from feeding it people. It’s just a theory.
I think that’s about it. All in all the season was pretty great and I- I’m just still broken over these deaths.
when I see MF I read it a mother fucker instead of Mind Flayer and that says something 😗

i love your lengthy tags on stranger things posts lol and i just wanna say that there has not been enough wheeler sibling content since the beginning of the show! and def not enough byers family in s3. honestly i enjoyed s3 and it's still one of my fav shows but i also feel like there was a lot missing/things i would've done differently in that particular season. hope this isn't weird or annoying 😂
i got so distracted by thinking abt the first clown movie (spoiler alert: im the clown for being invested) fdjsjhldf im sorry for the delay but!! thank you so so much ahhhhhhhhh that’s genuinely such a fucking lovely thing to hear?? i am..... tragically a disaster of the tag novel persuasion, and i simultaneously feel so raw & so touched when people like... actually read them ahaha, let alone enjoy them, so thank you oh my god
also biiiiiiig agree. there were definitely things about s3 i really enjoyed, like the development of eleven as a character & el/max dynamic (which, whether you take it romantically or platonically, is exceptional as a relationship because like... there just isn’t any other positive relationship between two female characters lmao?), and the handling of that steve/robin scene (for that matter, that mike/will scene), and also giving us the first scene where cara buono really gets to stretch her acting chops (w/ nancy, obviously, this is not a blog that would given karen/b*lly rights), but then.... there’s a lot i have qualms with.
some is like, minor stuff, like probably would have let the party spend an actual episode together, but then some of it... idk, i don’t think it’s a coincidence that lucas took a significant backseat this season when it’s the season they were trying to redeem his racist abuser, and there’s something incredibly gross about the different levels of racism that has—-like not only is a character who was racist and abusive getting a pass on an in-character level, but the show itself is actively choosing to elevate him & sideline his victim in order to create enough distance for the viewer in order to redeem him like.... that’s rank as all fuck lmao
and the siblings!!! oh my god the siblings... in all honesty, i’m always like... idk i get rly thrilled when we FINALLY have the big team up each season, but when it happens, i’m always like, oh my god why did this take so long? and i think that’s dramatic at times, but i do think it’s valid for the third season, because the teenagers and kids only all come back together at the very end of the penultimate episode, and that’s also... often when all the siblings get to reunite? tbf, nancy and jonathan teamed back up with the squad their siblings were in earlier than that, but not... supremely earlier, and idk, i just missed them. i think mike and nancy had like.... one actual convo, instigated by max, and then... it’s 3am so my memory could be shot but i’m genuinely unable to remember a single conversation will and jonathan had. idk i feel like this season was really lacking on sibling content & lucas content & i’m over it (also.... i get that it was for comedy but putting the most staunchly pro-capitalist words in the mouth of a young black girl in 80s indiana? what the genuine fuck)
that said, i did enjoy the season overall!! a lot of the dynamics were fun (max & mike is one of my favourite dynamics and i loved how this season showcased both like... bickering but also trust / a lived-in friendship) & i liked that... while will didn’t have an easy run of anything this season, he was, at least, not the main target for once lmao. also everyone’s reactions to dustin and suzy’s musical number ruined my fucking life lmao it was so funny (& lucas and max’s reprisal at the end, teasing dustin, followed by will and mike’s convo about not possible to want to join another party? an absolutely pitch perfect vibe for the party). so yeah, i did enjoy, but i have absolute qualms / things i would change in a heartbeat, of varying levels of importance
and oh my god no!!!! this could never be weird or annoying, i am absolutely 10000% deeply touched that you would send me an ask / care abt what i have to say!! i just hope it wasnt too Overwhelming fdshjk i have zero fucking chill can confirm

Season 3 Thoughts
!!Spoilers!!
Things I liked about Season 3
- I liked how they actually didn’t chicken out of El dumping Mike, seems like they actually listened to our complaints about their relationship.
- The comedy was absolutely hilarious this season, I found myself giggling and snorting uncontrollably A LOT.
- El and Max’s friendship was absolutely beautiful and exactly what I wanted. Not forced or in a way toxic. Thank you Duffers!
- Robin being the 80’s lesbian queen we deserved.
- Robin and Steve slowly becoming best friends. And not becoming a couple like the show tricked us into thinking so.
- Karen Wheeler actually being a mom to Nancy. Seriously why does no one talk about that scene more? She’s not the best mom but at least she’s a better parent then tED (Or Lonnie if you can call him a parent.)
- The emotional scenes were just as amazing as ever, the raw emotion on each characters face gave me chills and had me sobbing like a baby.
-Erica, I loved her, absolutely loved her. Everything she said was golden.
-Dustin and Suzie’s duet. iT WAS ADORABLE FIGHT ME.
- Hopper and Joyce acting like a married couple.
- Alexei. Just him in general.
- Every time we saw the Flayed or the Mind Flayer in fleshy form. It just gave me absolute goosebumps every time. And honestly the fact that the Mind Flayer is made out of human flesh and when you think one of those people could’ve been Will? yIKES.
- HOPPERS NOTE REALLY GOT ME MAN.
Things I didn’t like about Season 3
- Whyyyyyyy on eARTH. Did they have to start with Mileven making out? Watching it alone was super uncomfortable. Like Come on.
- There was no sibling bonding! I was really hoping for some big sister Nancy moments with Mike. There wasn’t even a Byers brothers scene!
- We still didn’t get a lot of interaction between Will and El. I was really hoping for them to be friends too ;-;.
- Mileven was handled so poorly in this season, like honestly Mike was an idiot, did he even properly apologize to El about lying.
- They did Will dirty. I mean they made him suffer for TWO SEASONS, only to have him look scared for the remainder of the season, and occasionally touch his neck and say “he’s here.” Or something. There was no conclusion to his emotional breakdown! Nada! They did my boy dirty!
- Nancy and Jonathan’s story arc felt really forced to me.
- Joyce Standing up Hopper.
- Lumax didn’t really feel.... real. I mean don’t get me wrong I loved their interactions but most of them were more humor, I don’t think we even got a kiss from them did we?
-What the hell is Nancys hair?
- Mike barely acknowledging Will or Dustin. Even Lucas was concerned about them. With Will I can slide because In the end he did try to apologize. But Dustin? He barely cared! They kept trying to call him which didn’t work, they could’ve at least biked to his house quickly to confirm that they weren’t there.
- Like What Murray said; the bickering between Hopper and Joyce got old. Real fast.
- To me at least, it felt Like Lucas slowly turned into the comic relief. Which completely goes against his character. Like cmon was that Cola scene really necessary?
- Why the hell did no one do anything whenever El was being attacked? Literally when she was being choked by Billy everyone just kinda stood there terrified. Nancy and Mike seemed to be the only ones who helped her until the final battle.
- I was really hoping for Kali to come back, or at least get a tease that we’ll see her again or at least a mention of her name. But nope. There was nothing. Like COME ON! You can’t introduce a character like that and not bring her back, especially when you made her seem more important!
- They did Joyce Dirty, in fact they have done her dirty for they entire show. LET HER FIND LOVE DAMN IT.
- I already expressed in another post how I didn’t like Mike this season, but still I really did not like Mike in this season.
- Why did they treat the Mileven break up as a joke? In fact why did they treat Mileven like a joke in general?
- When El said “I love you too” in the last episode, I didn’t feel anything. Straight up blank face.
- Did Dustin’s mom notice her son was even missing? Did she even try to call the police? What about Steve, Robin or Erica’s families? Were they not concerned at all that their children were missing? Jeez are Joyce and Hopper the only good parents in town?
- I felt like Murray was a tad unnecessary.
- is it weird that I didn’t find the Russians even a little intimidating?
Conclusion: I liked Season Two better.

The Stranger Things Kids: Sorted into Hogwarts Houses
I recently listened to this Weird Sisters podcast sorting all the Stranger Things characters into Hogwarts Houses. And while I didn’t agree with all of their sorting choices, I loved their take on the four boys being a conceptual representation of the Hogwarts founders. Now I can’t help thinking that if our boys actually went to Hogwarts together, then they would all choose to be in the same house and that house would undoubtedly be Ravenclaw. Nerdy Ravenclaw traits are something they all have in common and it’s at least the secondary house for three of them, but the primary house of only one of them. Our Hawkins boys are actually ideal representations of each of the four houses and how these four character types can work together as an effective complimentary unit. So I wanted to expand on why the boys fit their houses so perfectly and then ponder which house Eleven might possibly be sorted into. The jury is still out on her.
Tumblr media
Mike Wheeler: Gryffindor
Like the great Taystee Jefferson before him, Mike is a Gryffindor soul with a Ravenclaw mind. Like all the boys Mike is fiercely intelligent, but it’s his bravery, compassion and recklessness that drives him. Mike’s classic Gryffindor moment of course comes when he leaps off a cliff to save Dustin. It’s worth noting that in this scene Troy actually gave Mike the option of pissing himself or jumping to his possible death. And Mike with his insane impulsive Gryffindor courage chooses to show his bully that he’s ready to sacrifice himself for a friend at any moment rather than trying to negotiate for Dustin’s safety through fulfilling a lesser dare. Mike has another “You will have to kill me before I let you hurt my friend” scene when Brenner’s soldiers come for El at the school. And in the S2 finale Mike is not content with being benched or even just creating some small diversion to help El close the gate. No it’s Mike plan to go right to the roots of the Shadow Monsters hive mind and then set it on fucking fire.
The balls on this kid, seriously. But it’s not just his bravery that makes Mike a Gryffindor. We also see it in his desire and ability to be a leader. As the Dungeon Master of his group, Mike is assertive, motivational, a little controlling and a lot of a show off (as seen in his hilariously theatrical Thessalhydra death performance in the S1 finale). Mike can be arrogant in his leadership sometimes, expecting that no other party members will make decisions without him and furious when he finds out important decisions have been taken out of his hands. Like many a Gryffindor Mike has a hot temper, he shouts a lot and he gets his big ‘caps lock Harry!’ moment when he rages at Hopper for hiding El from him. That scene is the perfect clash of Mike’s righteous Gryffindor fire with Hopper’s cold cunning Slytherin survivalism. I suspect these two will continue to have conflict in future seasons as all great Gryffindors and Slytherins do. I’m also predicting that once they’ve grown out of their sibling squabbles we’ll start to see a stronger alliance between Mike and his sister. Nancy is also a Gryffindor with Ravenclaw wit and Hogwarts house traits tend to run in families, even though the magical Wheeler kids were born to oblivious muggle parents. Just as Nancy grabs a gun when the Byres house is under attack from demodogs, Mike snatches the first improvised weapon at hand, a candlestick. Mike surely doesn’t know how to fight with a candlestick. Point is the boy’s a fighter by nature.

Dustin Henderson: Ravenclaw
Do not tell me that Dustin is anything other than a Ravenclaw. I will fight you. I will grant that Hufflepuff may be Dustin’s secondary house, but it’d still be a very distant second because this kid is so Ravenclaw it hurts. Though he may at first appear to be the goofball of the group (not that Hufflepuff’s are actually goofs but this is the common misconception) Dustin is really the brains of the operation. It is shown time and time again that while all the boys are smart, Dustin is by far the smartest. Take the scene where Dustin comes up with the plan to use their compasses to find the gate and is a little pained at how long it takes Mike and Lucas to grasp a concept that instantly makes sense to him. This is what makes Dustin so Ravenclaw, his quick comprehension of crazy complex ideas. Though  it is more often Dungeon Master Mike who first comes up with theories on their supernatural problems, it’s Dustin who takes Mike’s ideas, expands on them and guides their party towards possible solutions. Look at how Dustin takes charge of explaining the Veil of Shadows and the Mind Flayer to the group, using textual references from the D&D handbook to support his thesis. He also fussily insists that everyone starts using his newly invented ‘demodog’ terminology, which is another classic Ravenclaw quirk. Dustin is full of them.
This is a kid who steals library books and interrupts his science teacher’s dates and justifies it by saying he’s on a curiosity quest. Dustin doesn’t tend to be as bold as Mike and Lucas in fights (he’s the one who initially cautions Will to cast protection) but Dustin is a fearless adventurer when it comes to expanding his knowledge. I’d say that it’s his Ravenclaw inquisitiveness rather than Hufflepuff sweetness that drives Dustin to risk keeping Dart as his pet. And while Dustin keeping Dart could be considered a dumb move from a supposedly smart kid, Dustin is vindicated in the end when he successfully uses his bond with Dart to help him and his friends escape the tunnels. Dustin doesn’t get too sentimental over leaving Dart (presumably to die?) seeming more interested in his scientific discoveries as he tells Steve to preserve a dead demodog in the freezer. Indeed, Dustin’s discovery that they can tame monsters from the Upside Down could prove really useful in future seasons. Lastly, I will add that Dustin’s Ravenclaw mind doesn’t always serve him well. He has a tendency to overthink things and assume his theories will always work in practice - such as if he copies the way Steve acts with girls, he will get girls like Steve does. This is why Ravenclaws like Dustin (and dear Luna) are often kooky misfits. Things that make perfect sense in their heads don’t always fit in with reality.

Lucas Sinclair: Slytherin
This is not to say that Lucas is the dark or corruptible kid of the group. Lucas is actually a great example of how a Slytherin can be a powerful ally, particularly a Slytherin with Ravenclaw brains (see Stiles Stilinski as another great example of this type). Lucas, like all Slytherins, is fiercely loyal to his own people yet very suspicious and hostile towards those outside his circle. To say that Slytherins have a strong sense of self-preservation is not to say they’re cowards. Lucas is clearly a little badass, but he’s also far more cautious, cunning and prepared for battle than impulsively-jump-off-a-cliff Gryffindors like Mike. Lucas has his wrist rocket and his army-style kit bag and he thinks before he acts or trusts anyone. Whereas Mike immediately took El in without question, Lucas gave her a hard time but also exhibited a rational mistrust of a girl so strange and powerful. But when Lucas comes to trust El, he is devoted to her. Lucas initially holds back on bringing Max in and telling her any of their secrets too. Like Mike he has a crush on the girl who he wants to be their new party member, but unlike Mike he is not blinded by his emotions. When Lucas brings Max into the fold he plans for it, he does it in a secure setting, he acknowledges the risks and he makes sure Max is aware of the consequences. And he does all this without consulting the group, because if Mike can take charge and recruit new members then so can he. And he will vet his newcomers more than Mike ever did.
So I guess the main thing that makes Lucas Slytherin for me is how he clashes with Mike. He’s one member of the party who challenges Mike as their leader. Their little row over both wanting to be Venkman speaks volumes. It is not just because Lucas resents being automatically cast as the black guy. It’s because Lucas and Mike both want to be the main man. There’s a sense in S2 that Lucas has taken the leadership role away from Mike, given that they are now playing arcade games, not D&D. As Dungeon Master, Mike led them in a game where they would all worked together as a group, though he was the one shaping the adventures. In the arcade, the games are competitive and Lucas is clearly the best at them, having the most high scores. While Mike seems disinterested and forgets to collect quarters, Lucas is out mowing lawns so he can show off his skills and brag about being top of most of the score boards. This is his Slytherin ambition coming through. Lucas is initially attracted to Max because she is a worthy arcade competitor and he treats his love triangle with Dustin and Max as a competition he’s determined to win. And just like Lucas gets the princess on Dragon’s Lair, he also gets the girl at the Snowball. Ironically though, I’d place Max in Gryffindor, meaning that like Mike and Lucas, they are likely to have a stormy relationship in future. But in Lucas’s case as an intellectual ambitious Slytherin, he thrives on people who challenge him.

Will Byers: Hufflepuff
Here’s our Hufflepuff. I was impressed that the podcast correctly sorted Will into Hufflepuff after only S1. It shows just how well Will was characterized even in a minor role. Though as they also rightly point out, Will was always most likely to be in Hufflepuff because he was raised in a family of Hufflepuffs. Not Lonnie of course but Joyce and Jonathan are both shown to be hard working, quiet and kind-natured and incredibly loyal to their loved ones. Will might not be working long hours to bring money into the Byers house like they are, but his preference for drawing over action figures hints that he’s a worker bee too. Unlike the other boys who favor games where they fight and win, Will would rather spend time quietly creating something. And while his mom is so gushingly proud of Will’s artistic talent, Will himself is quiet and humble about it. Just as he is humble in the games he plays with his friends. In D&D, the demogorgan gets Will because he was trying to do what was best for their group. He lacks the ambition to win for himself. Will always chooses to be kind and to please others. Like in the story Joyce tells about him giving away his Tonka truck to a little girl who was crying. It makes Will the best peacekeeper of the group - his little “Why can’t there just be two Venkmans?” line was so perfectly Hufflepuff.
However, for all his sweetness it’s not surprising that Will has had the darkest storyline so far. While Hufflepuffs are kind souls, they can also be perilously naive. See Jesse Pinkman as the perfect example of a sweet Hufflepuff who is especially vulnerable to evil influences and manipulation. His open and trusting Hufflepuff nature is partly what makes Will prey to the shadow monster. In S2, Will’s first mistake was to follow Bob’s advice, dear Bob who meant well but had no comprehension of the powerful forces Will was up against. Will is not a fighter like Mike and Lucas are. He survived the Upside Down mostly through hiding and holding on until he could be rescued. When he becomes possessed Will survives in the same way. Will takes Mike’s advice and he quietly spies on the monster inside him and selflessly works to leak his knowledge of the monster through his maps and Morse code messages. Even when being mind controlled by evil forces, his Hufflepuff nature shines through.

Eleven: Undecided
So all this brings me to El, the character I find that Stanger Things sorting hat posts struggle with the most. The Weird Sisters put Eleven in Ravenclaw on the basis of her telekinetic abilities, but I’d argue that having superpowers in your brain is not the same as being intelligent and cerebral. Ravenclaw is actually the last house I would sort El into, because she lacks a complex perspective on all matters. She tends to view people as either good or bad, she gets angry over lies and broken promises while ignoring any complicated reasons behind them. El does not act based on rationality but on her raw instincts. Her powers may be concentrated in her mind but in S2 they made it clear that her powers are fueled by her emotions. Dustin has described El’s superpowers as being like a battery that they need to recharge. But at the school, it turned out that El didn’t need chocolate pudding to take down Brenner’s men and the demogorgan. The thing that charged up her powers was her love for Mike. It was Mike kissing her and sweetly promising her she can have a normal life. That gave her strength to fight back when she was drained. So given that El is a feeler more than a thinker, I’m stuck between Gryffindor and Slytherin for her house.
As I’ve said with other characters like Will and Mike, Hogwarts houses often run in families. Eleven is a girl who’s been raised by Slytherins. And not just by bad Slytherins like Brenner, but by a more decent Slytherin like Hopper. She has a third Slytherin influence in her lost sister Kali. The Slytherin breeding has rubbed off on El. Like a Slytherin she is also fiercely loyal to her loved ones but hostile to outsiders, like Max. Like a Slytherin she has strong self-preservation instincts. And I suppose most of all like a Slytherin, El has a real potential to turn dark and have her powers become monstrous. However, El is in love with a Gryffindor and it could well be said that their shared Gryffindor spirits is what brought Mike and El together. It’s too early to say for sure but I think El is one of those characters who will slowly move away from her family house. Clarke Griffin was born into a family of Gryffindors and started off Gryffindor herself, but she developed into a diehard Slytherin. I could see El developing in a similar way, but in the other direction. Bred to be Slytherin, yet born to be Gryffindor.
Other Gryffindors: Nancy, Steve and Max.
Other Ravenclaws: Bob, Murray and Mr Clarke.
Other Hufflepuffs: Joyce, Jonathan and Barb.
Other Slytherins: Hopper, Brenner, Billy and Kali.
