I’m not even presenting this as a fact but Musk has a company that has killed several test monkeys by melting their brains to try to develop neural-computer links- What if Musk like, GOT one prematurely like a mad scientist and it’s rotting his brain? It would explain so much.

> I imagine Joe as the one member of the Baker family who Lucas wouldn’t think to say a single bad thing about. The man lives out by himself in the woods, eating hand-caught critters, jury-rigging spears and traps and bombs, and slaying alligators. He’s a badass, and while Lucas really isn’t anywhere near propriety-minded enough to respect him, exactly, he absolutely sees Joe as a person who lives independently by no one’s rules but his own, carving his own path and literally making his own way and letting nothing mess with him and doing it all well, and he thinks all of that is awesome and aspirational. (Even if he’d miss the internet way too much to ever willingly try to live the same way.)
Jack and Joe don’t have the best relationship, Jack’s never been unaware of Lucas’s resentment of him, and Lucas’s favoritism towards Joe has made Jack uncomfortable for reasons of both “oof, I feel like you’re not the best influence for my rebellious son, please dear god I want this family to live a normal quiet cozy life” and “you’re not trying to showboat that you’re the cool one and steal my son from me, are you?”; but Lucas enjoyed visits to or from Joe on the odd holiday, birthday, etc. that the brothers didn’t feel too awkward dealing with each other to make it happen. There’ve even been a few times he’s snuck out while in a particularly bad or restless mood to venture out to his uncle’s place! Through his time spent with Joe, Lucas has picked up a bunch of wild tales of life on the swamp, a few trapmaking and scavenging/crafting tricks, and a curiosity regarding animals fed to the point that he’s now pretty outright casually comfortable around them.
On that note, I do HC Lucas as liking animals, particularly your “creepy-crawly” or otherwise offbeat ones like insects, reptiles, amphibians, “ugly” cats and dogs (he sees them and thinks they’re fun and hilarious little guys!!), and intimidating or strange sea creatures! (Mind you, that isn’t to say that he’s nice to animals - he’ll absolutely mess with one to get what he thinks is a funny reaction, and wouldn’t think much of using one as bait for another or as a guinea pig for his deadly invention du jour.)

Addams! AU snippet 2: 'Lab'

This specific snippet had actually been inspired by some art! Im pretty sure I've posted it before, but might as well also include it too! (It is pretty old, forgive meeeee LOL)

Full snippet below the cut! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Donnie had the setup exactly how he wanted.
The rat specimen was pinned to the exam table, paws impaled and spread. Its belly fur was scraped clear and the bloated, pink flesh exposed. It had died in the trap before Donnie could get to it (thank you, Mikey, for setting the couch on fire again and delaying him.) So no vivisection. But that was fine, dissection was the next best thing. Especially of a pregnant rat, oh, giddy grin, he was going to get a whole clutter of partially-developed babies to experiment on! And with Mikey and Raph off in the tunnels and Leo traipsing around the Hidden City somewhere, Donnie finally had a quiet afternoon to himself.
He intended to make the most of it.
Swiveling the lamp so the lighting beamed down on the specimen, he curled his fingers in anticipation. The mechanical scalpel joint lined up just at the top of the rat’s throat, where he could cut a straight line to open the abdomen–
“Donnieeeeeeeeee!”
Leo burst through the double doors. He waltzed across the room and flung himself over the dissection table, swooning like a lady in the throes of a fainting spell.
“Wha–” Donnie grabbed for his tray of needles and surgical knives before it upended and strewed across the floor. “Nardo! You’re squishing my specimen!”
Leo fixed him with a dreamy, half-lidded gaze. “I just met somebody.”
Donnie glowered. This was the reason Leo had barged into his lab? To annoy him with ceaseless gushing over some new simpleton he’d decided to pursue?
“You’ll never believe it,” said Leo. “I rescued him instead of mugged him.”
Donnie shook the table. “Didn’t you hear me? Get off.”
“He was cornered. By two smelly thugs. They had these adorable little switch knives, trying to be all intimidating. Donnie, I’m telling you, it would have been pathetic that he got himself hemmed in like that, if his cowering wasn’t so adorable.”
“Nardo…”
“You should have seen how cute his face was, all covered in blood!” Leo kicked his feet. “Oh, I couldn’t help myself. Don’t worry, don’t worry, you’ll be so proud of me, I only licked him a little–”
“I don’t have time for this–”
“--so I’m sure he knows I’m a gentleman. Oh, it was such a good thing I was there, those brutes were so unsophisticated, they wouldn’t have done anything right–”
“Oh my god would you just shut up!” Donnie dragged his hands down his face, opening a sliver on his cheek as the scalpel on his finger caught flesh. “What level of disinterest and indignation do I need to achieve before you get it through your addled brain? I do not care.”
Leo’s smirk never wavered. He held up his hand, smudged deep with red, and waggled his fingers. “Wanna sample?”
Donnie opened his mouth to argue, then hesitated. He peered a little closer at the smear of not-yet-coagulated blood. “...it was a yokai?”
“Mmm-hmmmm.”
“What type?”
“One you don’t have any blood work for yet.” Leo’s grin widened. “Rabbit. Or bunny. If there’s a difference.”
The swab was in Donnie’s hand before he realized he’d made the decision to reach for one. He soaked up a dribble from Leo’s wrist and snagged a clean Petri dish. “Of course there’s no difference, why do you think the combination term ‘bunny rabbit’ exists? It’s a hare that comes from another genus. And what do you want, huh? You don’t just saunter in here and offer me free DNA for my trials for nothing.”
“Can’t I help my dear brother with his evil lab experiments out of the goodness of my heart?”
“As if you have one.”
Leo dissolved into giggles.
Donnie capped the dish and pulled a fresh label from the drawer. “So? Spill. What am I beholden to you for after this oh-so-generous and selfless donation?”
“Oh, you know. Age, blood type, zodiac sign, debilitating allergies or hypersensitivities. Aaaand if you happen to match those to any particular medical records and it leads to a place of employment or a home address…”
“Don’t you have enough stalking victims already?”
Leo hopped off the metal slab and pirouetted his way out the door. “No such thing.”

Stealing betafish from places that keep them in plastic cups without any of their very important necessities should be more legal and socially acceptable than putting betafish in plastic cups without any of their very important necessities

I'm not a fan of ASOIAF, but if you were one of people pulled in for it's... "Realism", might I recomend Water margin?
I should preface that I'm not chinese and I'm not that far into the story yet. But everytime I hear something of ASOIAF, I find myself thinking of Water Margin and what I've heard of it. So wanted to share it.
水滸傳 is a 14th - 15th centuary novel set in Northern Song dynasty China around 1120. It's about a band of brigands, the murderous scum of society, struggling to do the right thing in the face of the law and the greys of morality between good and evil. The first half of the story deals with how each of the main players came to their life of banditry, each character per chapter, before developing into a sort of war drama with strategy and action. During it's time of writing, martial arts and kung-fu really started kicking off so there's a lot action scenes intermixed with tragedy and drama. It was written with realism in mind which is why it has some heavy scenes and was banned for some time period. That's also why it was a big hit in lower class Sengoku Japan, where it's known as Suikoden. It's legacy is still strongly felt in Japan's cultural entertainment tropes such as shouting attack names. There's no monsters (i know of) but there are curses, demons and super-human feats.
Since the source deals with several heavy topics and was written in a time of increasing conservatism I also recomend reading a list of trigger warings before you watch or read it if you can find one.
If you can't find a copy, the 1998 live action adaptation is generally the one chinese audiences reccomend (WARNING: there is some hardcore REAL LIFE animal cruelty and hunting in the show, PLEASE be aware of that before you watch). Otherwise there is a 2011 adaptation, a 1978 movie adaptation and several animated adaptations of the japanese variations of the story. I also recomend 'Cool History Bros' animated recaps of the story since he walks through the cultural differences for a western audience.
Here's also the free original text from the Chinese wikisource.

I rewatched a USSR stop-motion cartoon called "Праздник непослушания" (meaning "Disobedience Day") that I first saw as a school age kid. It's about spoiled children and their parents who got fed up with the kids' behaviour and decided to abandon them. The only adult left was a circus performer who didn't know about it. The children were happy at first, but they ended up eating too much, smoking, getting ill and eventually missing their parents. Even though they had complete freedom, they no longer wanted to do anything. Meanwhile, their parents camping outside the city were worried about them. The aforementioned circus performer took care of the children before a sentient kite (it makes as much sense in context) arrived to help, sending a letter to their parents. Happy family reunions, life in the city returned back to normal.
Also since I mentioned the circus performer, this means there was a circus, and there were a lion and his tamer. The tamer left the city, forgetting his lion back there, but fortunately the lion turned out to be cowardly: some kids tied tin cans to his tail and he hid from them, joining a cat that they painted before.
This cartoon could've been a lot more grim.
On unrelated note I think I didn't sleep this night at all, I feel like I'm only half-conscious. It's not anxiety or anything serious, just a very stubborn mosquito.

[Image Description: An edit of a screenshot from the show Community, showing the character Britta Perry sitting at a table, her expression serious, with the character Abed Nadir behind her. Yellow captions on the screenshot have been edited to read: “I can excuse kidnapping his daughter, but I draw the line at animal cruelty.” End ID.]
Session meme <3 I can give context if desired but this is what we’ve got.

What did Donnie do with dogs to make Usagi hate them??
Eats them (Mikey, Raph, and Don all are willing to eat anything, so they tend to eat rats, cats, silverfish, etc. They dont eat dogs often but sometimes Don may take pieces and hes eaten a small puppy before), experiments on them, etc etc. Donnie hates dogs so he'll often find strays or take dogs out of backyards to use because he doesn't like them and finds them expendable.
Usagi has just grown to associate dogs with Donnie, and Usagi would hate to get attached to a dog, be found by the Hamatos, and the dog be taken by Don for whatever whims they have.
Plus, Usagi is still a prey animal. Animals like dogs spook him. They look too much like wolves.

If I wasn't already aware that it's possible to have an crisis over being a normal human being, I sure got reminded of that now.
What do you mean that I love cute animals and don't want to hurt them? What do you mean that I can love? I am a monster that wants nothing more than to hurt and abuse any living thing, right? I want to abuse all the animals in the world instead of loving and caring for them, right? Right?
So, why? Why does my cold dead heart melt while watching small kittens play around? Why did I want to die at the mere thought of torturing a dog? Why did I immediately want to cry while someone else was talking about a species that has gone extinct? Shouldn't I have celebrated that? Isn't that what I'd have normally done? Then why did it hurt?
I'm all "to hell with animal rights and welfare, let's abuse them harder", normally. But why does it hurt? Because it does, this I cannot deny. Somehow it does, even if I don't get why it does. It should be easy for me to hurt an innocent creature, since I am cruel and evil after all. But I can't. I can't do it. I can't bring myself to even imagine inflicting harm on an innocent creature like a pet.
So, why?

first dream: hahah silly qsmp self insert dream, i get to interact with Charlie Slimecicle ^ ^
second dream: *FEELING THE HORRORS*
after noticing my cat was walking strangely their health started to rapidly deteriorate until their back legs were thin and they could barely stay up. i tried to help her and train her to be easier to manage but she stopped being able to understand what was even happening. so a family member shouted, "im sick and tired of this shit!!!" and beat her to death in front of me. i just cried because it was pretty fucked up, i wanted her to die peacefully, but the family member just told me it was for her own good (apparently she'd been hurting for a while). My parental figure asked what we wanted to do with the body and whether we wanted to keep the bones. i said yes obviously, i was really desperate to have SOMETHING, ANYTHING really to keep close to me. Then they made us go into the backyard and start digging at the ground for some reason. Yeah. (found a motorcycle apparently but my mind was way elsewhere) Also fucked up, my dream was set back in our old house, not our current one. Evil and fucked up.
Definitely feeling the fear there that I haven't done enough for the people around me, that I haven't had the opportunity to cherish them properly, that I'm running out of time and they're going to die soon and abruptly. I feel like a disgrace, I feel like a burden, I feel like I don't do enough, that my cat would get sick and I wouldn't even notice because I don't spend as much time with her as I should have. Woke up feeling so weak and it was real. It still feels real, it still hurts.
I would like my dreams to stop taking my biggest fears and generating nightmare dream scenarios like I were a protagonist in a horror game :((

YouTube recommended me a bat video titled angry bat, and I thought the bat would just be grumpy, but no the recorder was actively harassing the bat (poking the bat with a plastic pot and apparently spraying it with water (I didn’t finish the video I got too upset)) Ugh I hate when people bother animals for views it’s cruel.
Also hope the guy is aware that bats are likely carriers of rabies, so likely that to work with bats you need the rabies vaccine so harassing this particular animal is dangerous to both parties.
