The pull out cot in Ava’s hospital room was probably the least comfortable place Sarah had slept, yet it felt far too comfortable to get up at 2 AM to catch her ringing phone as it slid across the window ledge. She got it before it plummeted to the hard floor, Ava’s sister’s name lighting up the screen along with multiple missed call messages.

“Annika? Are you-”

“Sarah, S-Sarah is Ava okay?” The young woman’s voice was thick with tears and it made her a little hard to understand as she stuttered, “P-Please tell me she’s okay.”

That had Sarah glancing over at her lover, who was propped up on her mountain of pillows and surprisingly wide awake, looking at her girlfriend with confusion.

“She’s right here, Nika,” Sarah shuffled over as she put the call on speaker, passing it to Ava who had her sister sobbing the second she asked if Annika was okay.

“Oh t-thank god,” she whispered over the phone, “I’m s-sorry, I had a dream w-where… you didn’t make it and it felt- it was so r-real.”

ooooh this is interesting!! I am gonna have to separate the question into two parts, best at telling and actual stories!

Angharad is SO good at telling ghost stories; ghost stories are actually integral to a Cymraeg tradition (in real life as well) and she tells the Calan Gaef story So Well, to the point where it legitimately terrifies the listeners!

Rhodri has legit ghost stories, but he would never tell them, because the ghost is that of his ex-wife. he worries that she'll leave if he tells anyone about her

Annika can also talk to ghosts! she has so many to tell about everyone in the cemetery! some are scary, some are kind, but she has no end of stories!

enjoyed my first painting session in a while and used it to finally work on kritza! one of my favourite models and character concepts like, ever. i adore you, nasty vampire rat man.

sticking pretty standard with my soulblight colours- whites, greys, some nice royal looking burgundys. I thought about giving him red eyes, but I actually like the black a little better. lemme tell ya my decision to do all of these fully assembled came back to bite me when I had to get into the coat behind his legs, lol... huge pain in the ass. but with a little brush gymnastics I got there in the end

also I got to use my nice red moss! I was excited about this, and I think it looks very cool. the intention was moss but it also kinda looks like fallen autumn leaves, which fits the intended tone too.

how sure she used the name Annika in Unimatrix Zero but then CLEARLY she decided that name means nothing to her now? She knew the name Annika for MONTHS and never once tried it with the crew of Voyager? Does that not signify a damn fucking thing to you? Her new family, her new 'Collective', of Voyager and she didn't ONCE say 'call me Annika'. She said 'call me Seven (of Nine)' it was one of the first things to come up when she was liberated and she then gave up the name Annika after the Unimatrix Zero storyline. (tho one thing perhaps to keep in mind is this wasn't a conversation we could have had in the 90s when it comes to Seven's name but that doesn't make it moot how much she only wants to be called Seven)

Have we talked about then how many people knew and know her as Seven but NOT Annika? And how some people probably don't even KNOW she was born with the name 'Annika' at all?

That the son (Icheb) she mercy killed knew her as Seven?

That the children she helped liberate from the Borg the same way she was knew her as Seven?

The crew she helped get back to the Alpha Quadrant know her as Seven?

The woman (Raffi) she kissed and she told to 'let it breathe' knows her as Seven? (any bets that Raffi only found out about the name Annika once they got sent to the terrible no good very bad parallel universe where Seven is President Hansen?)

Seven of Nine knew without a shadow of a doubt that the Changeling Lieutenant La Forge standing there talking to the Captain Shaw that consistently referred to her with the wrong name was not the real Sidney La Forge because SHE then used the wrong name. The same way Shaw does.

Why?

Because Sidney calls her Commander Seven "out of respect". Which is shorthand for because it is her name. And Sidney knows that. Because Sidney cares to know that. Because Sidney is her friend like the crew of Voyager.

But Starfleet, apparently being the usual hypocritical Starfleet, has put her down as Annika Hansen (Ex-Borg are allowed but we can't have a name that reminds everyone she was once Borg). Shaw has put her down as Annika Hansen. He has deadnamed her. Starfleet has deadnamed her. And so she has not only been fighting for 23+ years to join Starfleet but then she has to fight to not be deadnamed once being allowed into Starfleet.

At least in the Rangers she was Seven of Nine. At least to the crew of Voyager she is Seven of Nine. At least to Sidney La Forge and who knows who else on the Enterprise (deadname the Titan) she is Seven of Nine.

She is always Seven of Nine never is she Annika Hansen.
