Elis Regina & Tom Jobim | Águas de Março (1974)
i love this song, which is certainly in my top 10 songs of all time. its poetry so attached to the place from where it came from that the translation could never carry its magic. the video is very charming and i always like to revisit it.
it's a song about rio, from one of our most beautiful composers, i love tom jobim. this song is from the 1970s, but he used to write a lot of bossa nova which is not the genre i love the most. so he is down the line a bit for me when it comes to my favourite writers, but for my dad he was number one. he is right in that he was trained classical but he could do great popular music. girl from ipanema is his, what is that, one of the most played songs of all time?

Antônio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim (25 January 1927 – 8 December 1994), also known as Tom Jobim, was a Brazilian composer, pianist, guitarist, songwriter, arranger, and singer. Considered one of the great exponents of Brazilian music, Jobim internationalized bossa nova and, with the help of important American artists, merged it with jazz in the 1960s to create a new sound, with popular success. As a result, he is sometimes known as the "father of bossa nova".
