Fyi, I rolled my eyes and almost deleted this confession but decided to post it anyway because I don't wanna be like those other confession blogs to delete stuff they don't agree with. Just know that I ship Sterek and this reeks of homophobia.

The Hypocritical Nature of Fandom Shipping
Pairings we should be concerned with in Teen Wolf
Please read this as I feel I have made some relatively important points
Disclaimer:
This is about the concerning age gaps and what people focus on, this is mostly regarding people who are Anti-Sterek.
This is primarily on AO3 because I couldn't be bothered to go on any other website when it is the prominent one people use.
I have made a separate blog in order to keep those who may send me hateful DMs and I don’t exactly want what could be hate mail in my personal DMs because I am arguably a fragile person, and I will absorb the hate until I need to seek a therapist.
I also come from England, where the age of consent laws differs from the State of California, in which it is legal for 16-year-olds to date anyone over 18, so long as they are not in a position of responsibility/authority – like a teacher or an officer[1].
I would also like to point out that I am not against any ship except ones with particular elements I am completely against, such as people who ship blood-related family members (Wincest) or age gaps larger than ten years. However I won't go after people for shipping them, I would block that content so I don't come across it.
If you are curious about the ships that are found in Teen Wolf you are free to follow this link to all the known pairings (platonic and romantic)[2]
EDIT - 14th April '23
I can't reply to comments as this is a side blog so
I realise I didn't talk about the predator and abuse of Isaac aspect, but that wasn't really the focus, I wrote this based on what I have seen on tumblr and twitter and even TikTok(?) and the only thing that really gets brought up is the age and how people who ship these fictional characters are "delusional", but thank you for adding to the discussion!!
Fanfiction is a transformative world. There are endless fandoms and pairings to write about such as those that focus on Formula 1[1] and Real Person Fics (RPFs)[2].
I hope to give a reasoned analysis on the pairings of Teen Wolf and the issues that I am aware of following the release of Teen Wolf: The Movie in January 2023.
This essay will focus on the hypocritical nature of shipping fictional characters with age gaps in Teen Wolf but will have a small comparison to other popular media. There will not be a heavy focus on age but rather than size of the gaps of these fictional characters.
TEEN WOLF'S ORIGINS AND AO3
Teen Wolf[1] originated in 1985s with Michael J. Fox starring as Scott Howard; the original production greenlit two sequels[2] leading MTV to adapt a modern version produced by Jeff Davis in 2011[3]. Teen Wolf has been met with a positive audience in the years of production with favourite seasons including season 3B and Season 5. The show continues to exhibit overwhelming popularity as the years go by as people rewatch it for nostalgia or because they wish to return to comfort episodes.
As with anything that exists, there are people who wish for their favourite characters to have an extended story or they do not agree with what the writers have decided is their fate, such as character death (Derek Hale in Teen Wolf: The Movie). Due to the disagreement viewers have with how their favourites end up, they will turn to fanfiction websites, specifically, in this decade, Archive Of Our Own (AO3)[4].
The AO3 tagging system is a complex aspect of the website but can be understood when the time is taken for people to find suitable fics relatively easily (when the fanfics are tagged properly of course). Tags often include spoilers regarding what is contained in the fanfic, typically “watersports”[5], “dub-con”/”dubious consent”[6], and “misunderstandings”[7]; but the tags could also include the author ‘talking’ to the reader which could include “no beta we die like [character]”[8].
THE STEREK SHIP AND THE POTENTIAL ISSUES
The Teen Wolf fandom contains popular ships such as, Sterek[1], Stydia[2], Stalia[3], Scallision[4], Liam Dunbar/Theo Raeken[5], Berica[6], just to name a few. A lot of pairings include Stiles Stilinski, most likely because Dylan O’Brien’s performance allows Stiles to have a chemistry with anyone he comes into contact with.
The pairing that contains the most fanfics is of course, Sterek; at the time of writing, Sterek contains 70,770 works which according to the last page of the date posted sort by began 26 June 2011[7]. Due to the popularity of the pairing, there is of course an exceptional amount of hate that comes with it, a lot of this hate can simply be found on Tumblr, known as Anti-Sterek(s)[8].
The chief problem that people who consider themselves to be Anti-Sterek have with the pairing is the age gap, Derek Hale is meant to be older than the rest of the main characters, however, it is unknown exactly how old he is meant to be due to the constant changing of his age (shown in the pilot screening presentation script where he was written to be nineteen[9]), but based on the events of that took place before the pilot episode, and for the purposes of this essay, it can be assumed he is around twenty-one to twenty-two at the beginning of the show[10].
Stiles Stilinski has obviously been written to be over sixteen years old, as he holds a valid licence. However, again, it is almost unknown when he turns seventeen due to the discrepancy in the timeline of events and almost contradictory statements made by the Teen Wolf calendar and the Teen Wolf Facebook page[11]; but it can be assumed Stiles turns seventeen during the events of Season 3 (3A and 3B). For the purposes of the writing, it can be assumed Stiles is sixteen during the pilot episode.
I am aware that shipping a sixteen-year-old with someone who is supposed to be (at the maximum) twenty-two is a large problem, however, if you consider reality, there are a lot of people who actively seek out relationships with people who are significantly older than them. When you contemplate actuality there are celebrities who have yet to face repercussions for dating people who are remarkably younger than them; Leonardo DiCaprio, and Sam Taylor-Johnson.
A factor that could be the reason that Sterek is scrutinized is due to the relationship that Kate Argent pursued with Derek when he was fifteen to sixteen. There is a lot of discourse on Tumblr and Twitter and even TikTok comments where fans equate the Sterek ship with that of what Kate did to Derek.
It is reasonable for viewers to abhor the relationship when based on these facts but, it should be remembered that a lot of fanfics involve alternative universes such as those of High School, and College where a lot of characters are specifically written to be the same age. I am not removing the reasoning behind the dislike of Sterek, I just want those who will take the time to read this analysis to realise that there are hypocritical aspects of shipping.
THE OTHER POTENTIALLY PROBLEMATIC SHIPS OF TEEN WOLF
It cannot be ignored that Sterek is not the only ship that has an age gap, there are viewers of the show who enjoy reading fanfics involving Steter (Peter Hale x Stiles Stilinski)[1]; this ship is also a problematic pairing due to the even larger age gap than that of Sterek’s, and this pairing on AO3 is considered to be the second most popular Teen Wolf ship with (at the time of writing) 10,766 works[2].
If you were to venture onto Tumblr and searched for the Anti-Steter[3] tag you would find less posts than the Anti-Sterek tag, and less frequent postings in general. Based on this, it would appear that there is more hate for Derek than Peter.
Another ship pairing that is more concerning, if fans of the show dislike large age gaps exceeding ten years, would be (Chris Argent x Stiles Stilinski) of which 866 fics are found on AO3[4], this is less than other ships but of course, still an interesting number of fics that have spanned 2012-2023.
The more popular ship containing Stiles and Chris is Stetopher which is a polyamorous ship that also comprises Peter. The works on AO3 are few in number, with only 739 published at the time of writing, these fics began being uploaded in September 2012[5].
This ship should again be scrutinised far more than that of Sterek because of the even larger age gap that exists. As aforementioned, it appears that Derek is greatly disliked due to the awareness of the Sterek ship.
Another ship that fans should be aware of is the Melissa McCall x Stiles Stilinski ship, of which there are 45 works on AO3, starting from November 2012 to 2023[6].
This ship is feasibly far more concerning considering Melissa is Stiles’ best friends’ mother, and undoubtedly this is the most unsettling pairing of all as Melissa would have watched Stiles grow up, and this would therefore be considered grooming.
In sum, the ships involving, Peter Hale, Chris Argent, and Melissa McCall should give rise to far more concern than that of Sterek. Again, this could mean that Derek’s character is far more hated, either because of Derek himself being written as something of an enemy in the first few seasons of the show airing, or because it’s easier to target pairings that are more popular than the other.
OTHER PAIRINGS THAT HAVE LARGE AGE GAPS BUT RECEIVE ALMOST NO HATE
The Vampire Diaries is also a popular show that aired from 2009 until 2017. The premise of the show is a seventeen-year-old Elena Gilbert falls in love with a one-hundred-and sixty-three-year-old. It is common lore that a vampire stops aging once they are turned, however, if people are concerned with age gaps of characters then there should be far more concern over the beloved shows.
Let’s not forget that popular fantasy books, such as that of A Court of Thorns and Roses and the Throne of Glass book series, also contain exceedingly large age gaps, it should not matter how old the characters are when they first meet, it should instead be about how many years apart they actually are. Yet, there is almost no hate found online regarding this aspect. When you compare this notion with that of Teen Wolf’s, there is a hypothetical question that could be raised, is the reason that Sterek is so hated down to it being popular, or is it because it is M/M pairing?
If an age gap is larger than ten years, that is when you should be concerned. I am not really concerned with age gaps in fiction being less than ten years, because it is fictional and I like the dynamic the pairing has, it is very rare that I read fanfics for any media but when I do, it is because I want more from these characters. If people in reality (where it is openly illegal to do so) are in relationships with large age gaps with someone underage, that is when you should troubled.
CONCLUSION
Teen Wolf is a popular show that generates a lot of discourse in the online community, it is probable that there is a heavy hypocritical nature to the pairings that people find. If people were truly concerned with age gaps exceeding two years, they would have more hatred for other ships in the show such as Marrish (Lydia x Parrish); however, it appears that Sterek is hated more due to how popular it is and could also be because Derek was written as a villain, especially in Season 2.
FURTHER POINTS
As stated in the disclaimer, I come from England and I write this with a different attitude, I am aware that the age of consent is eighteen in California, and it is illegal for anyone to leave the state with someone with the intention of having sexual relations. However, Teen Wolf is not real, and if you are getting exceedingly defensive and antagonistic around characters that other people ship and proceed to write long hateful messages to people anonymously on Tumblr to Sterek blogs and those who tag Anti-Sterek with claims that shipping Derek with Stiles is "pedophilic" in fact shows up the Sterek tag.
I expect that I could get hate for this, but I am not defending Sterek, I just hope I pointed out a few problems that I have found, I attempted to do extensive research, but I admit I would get more annoyed about the hypocrisy that I would have found.
I am not against people shipping whatever they want (look at the House of Dragons show) but I personally will not seek out ships that I don’t like and I don’t write hate because what’s the point? It’s not like it’s going to change anything, people enjoy what they enjoy. If you personally attack someone for who they ship, you are a terrible person. If you don’t like something, just block it so you don’t ever see it!!! IT IS THAT SIMPLE!!!

one thing about the teen wolf fandom I always thought was weird is they were all fine with a grown ass man being with a high school student. I remember before I watched the show thinking stiles and derek were around the same age bc so many people shipped them but no. stiles was like 16 and y'all wanted him with a fully grown adult man.

Im finding it absolutely funny how people are not realizing how BIG a part Noshiko and Satomi played in the nogitsune story. I'm not saying it to complain about the movie. I'm saying it because it wasn't just Stiles and Kira that built it up and fandom only talks about it for... certain reasons that aren't so subtle. Yeah I miss them actually and im sure the cast does too. I love Stiles. And I love Kira. But it's been casted and completed and complaining about those characters absence is understandable, but again, it's pointless. We already have ppl doing their fix it fics but I'm betting not many added Kira until I have mentioned this because they're too busy whipping up their real goals: sterek and steter. Which I wish that part of the fandom wasn't as toxic sometimes. Because there can honestly be better fix it fics that focus on the actual characters. However I do not know what the movie has in mind when it comes to ships so I'll just have to see like everyone else.

Whatever you might think of my "aggressive" attacks on Anti-Scott Sterek and Steter shippers, you have to remember how absolutely aggressive they have been when it comes to twisting the narrative of the show to make Scott a terrible person.
If you listen to them, you will think that Scott obsessed over Allison in Season 1, and one of their favorite pieces of evidence is Scott "stalking" Allison by hanging out on her roof. They take one particular instance of that behavior in Formality (1x11) and they describe it as a habit, and a particularly damning one. This is why they think he's a bad friend to Stiles, because the scene before it, he disagrees with Stiles as Stiles is expressing his desire to see Derek dead, but somehow also use it to show Scott's hostility to Derek, because he states he needs Derek to stop Peter from hurting Allison.
This appears in content all the time. Think of the number of shitty Sterek/Steter shippers who have their Fanon Stiles scold Scott for "stalking" Allison and neglecting what he should be paying attention to. But this requires them to forget the menacing scene at the beginning of the episode where Deaton protects Scott from Peter. On his way out of the Animal Clinic, Peter delivers the same threat he and Derek delivered in the locker room when they violated Scott physically and mentally.
Peter: There are other people who can help me get what I want, Scott. More innocent and far more vulnerable.
Scott: Allison.
So, Scott's not mooning on top of Allison's roof because he likes to sniff her hair (though I'm sure he does); he's doing it to protect her. Peter has threatened Allison directly, and he is not going to stop; he will creep on her at the mall later that same episode. Yes, there's humor in the scene because he falls asleep and falls off the roof.
But this is why people thinking Scott is a terrible character, because they've twisted his desire to protect his innocent girlfriend who has no idea about werewolves or the Hale Fire, from a deranged serial killer who has already threatened him and everyone he cares about. And then they call him a bad student because his grades suffer because he has to do this.
And they know that the production meant this to be heroic. They know it. Turning what the production meant into the opposite is the same thing they do when they insist "Scott is a terrible friend!" to Stiles, but will not -- most likely cannot -- explain what they mean by that. But they do know that Scott protecting his girlfriend from a hot white man who wants to murder her is not what he should be doing.
Damn right, I'm aggressive.

For the record, the advice you gave that anon originally was on point.
Thank you for posting it and putting those encouraging words out there in support of a new member of the fandom, even if they turned out to be a troll.
💖💖 Hopefully it was helpful for actual newcomers in the Steter fandom. I haven't been around for a while but I did hear about new writers getting harassed by antis/Scott stans, which isn't exactly the same problem as what that anon put out but they're still the same level of annoying. It's been ten years, you'd think they would've found something better to do by now.

https://russianspacegeckosexparty.tumblr.com/post/621031888022274048/racists-have-been-claiming-for-years-that-scott#notes LMFAO who are you trying to convince, Antis? Cishet white boy Scott McCall is literally the blandest, flattest, weakest, most irrelevant fictional character ever (there’s a reason everyone eclipsed him without even trying and Tyler Whiny Posey is the only one out of the whole Teen Wolf cast whose favorite character is Scott, ya know? Oops!) Then again, you Scott McCall delusional squad cesspit bunch know Scott isn’t actually anything special, which is why 99% of your wankfics and so-called “metas” is a case of Fanon!Scott where he has Derek’s, or Stiles’, or Lydia’s personality and traits, or is a Spark!Druid!Void!BAMF or whatever lol anyway @russianspacegeckosexparty why don’t you go back begging for some pedophilic Papa Hale/child!Scott content? We know that’s all you and your @liliaeth @princeescaluswords @brydeswhale buddies ever do in your little cesspit corner of fandom – besides harassing Sterek and Steter shippers on the internet and whining about how Dylan O’Brien and Tyler Hoechlin overshadowed Posey’s talentless ass without even trying, that is
-------------
I have no idea why someone submitted this to me a few months ago, but I agree with most if the rant. Tyler isn't white, though, so Scott isn't either.

he loves me not
Steter | 2.2k | T Prompt: Hanahaki Disease
Summary: Peter accidentally catches feelings, resists talking about those feelings, pines hopelessly, and eventually gets the guy.
-
The first flower drifts out of Peter's mouth right after Stiles texts him to set up a movie night.
Which, honestly, should have been a red flag. Back when they first started the whole “allies with benefits” thing, there was a flat rate of zero date-like activities happening before and after said “benefits.” The demands on Peter’s time were slim. They usually met in the late evenings after dealing with their separate packs’ daily bullshit, or after their late-night texting turned sexual, before parting to go straight to bed.
Now, though, there are occasional movie nights, and messages asking questions like did you want to head out and grab a pizza first?
It’s probably all that extra face time that fucked him over, but Peter refuses to let his mind go down that road right away. Instead, he stares at the little white petal in his palm.
Not possible, he thinks, disbelieving. You must be able to get hanahaki for other things, too.
He racks his brain for an answer. (Which is yet another foreign habit. Peter is his pack’s knowledge base on virtually any supernatural creature that could cross their borders, yet his understanding of hanahaki only skims the surface. Mostly because it once seemed utterly trite and unimportant.)
He’s fresh off buying a new Shelby Cobra in a stunning shade of blue, and he’s been a little in love with it from the second he drove it off the lot.
That’s all it is. Right? He flicks the petal off to type out a message on his phone. No way this is over Stiles Stilinski.
This thing between them has always been casual. Peter’s the one who laid down that rule, right from the start, and Stiles was one hundred percent on board.
To be anything otherwise would throw a wrench into both their personal lives, into every ambition they’ve been working so hard to achieve.
Stiles is an emissary for the McCall pack, the group of runts whose territory butts against the Hale pack’s borders. And while Talia’s been grateful that Peter is “building a solid relationship” with them instead of defaulting to his usual snarky provocations, she wouldn’t be nearly so grateful if she knew that “solid relationship” involved fucking their emissary into every horizontal surface of his apartment.
From what Peter’s learned of Stiles’s situation, it’s practically the same thing in reverse. In fact, Stiles has been almost insultingly insistent that they keep this whole thing a secret. Which Peter is, again, completely fine with.
Because there’s no way he’s in love with Stiles Stilinski.
Sometime after he struggles through the five stages of grief—denial’s a bitch, and acceptance is just depressing—he does his research. If this is happening, and given the number of petals he’s vacuumed from his new velvet rug it definitely is, he has to know the parameters.
As he discovers, hanahaki isn’t as bad as it’s cracked up to be in the media. Movies and soap operas love to play up the drama and deadliness, but it’s just like a lot of chronic illnesses: manageable with medicine. Cough suppressants, antihistamines, and anti-inflammatories can help keep the worst symptoms at bay for months or years, though some people need prescriptions to manage rarer strains.
Unfortunately for Peter, those kinds of medications burn through a shifter’s metabolism in minutes, so there’s almost no point in considering them.
There are few further treatments available. Total avoidance of the person in question works, but Peter considers that for all of ten seconds before deciding it’s impossible. He and Stiles run into each other for work purposes at least two or three times a week, and besides that, the thought of not being able to mouth at Stiles’s neck as he comes feels unthinkable.
There’s also surgery, which Peter wouldn’t do for basically the same reason. Removing the invading floral growth from his lungs would involve removing all of his memories of Stiles, which would be pretty hard to explain in a public setting.
Which means that the only thing to do is man up and talk it out.
Which Peter’s absolutely going to do. Eventually. He’s not so much of a coward that he’ll cut all ties just to avoid an awkward conversation.
But each time he sees Stiles, he doesn’t want it to be the last.
Next time, he decides again and again.
Peter chokes out another few petals while Stiles is in the bathroom one evening a few weeks later.
He’s making pasta in the kitchen, having talked up his rigatoni alla bolognese for so long that Stiles bullied him into making it, and Peter…allowed it. He’s getting soft, and it’s basically killing him.
The petals flutter onto the counter, and they’re—Absolutely not, he thinks, leaning down with a scowl—bubblegum pink and literally heart-shaped. This is unacceptable.
Stiles steps back into the room, catching Peter off-guard, and he swipes the offending petals off the counter and onto the floor. Stiles narrows his eyes at Peter’s innocent expression. He smiles, like he’s already waiting for Peter to offer a punchline. “What’s up?”
“Nothing,” Peter replies, but before he can turn back to his pasta, he coughs again. Another petal comes out, dancing through the air and onto the countertop.
“Ohhh.” Stiles’s face falls, and it’s the moment Peter’s been dreading, the moment when Stiles realizes that things have to change between them. “So…who is it?”
A flood of relief and incredulity washes over Peter. When on earth would I have had time to fall in love with anyone else, you idiot? he wonders. We’re practically living in each other’s pockets.
But sure. Maybe there’s a remote chance. And if nothing else, it buys Peter more time.
“No one,” he says, turning away to add a splash of wine to the sauce.
The smile has crept back onto Stiles’s face. “Aw, come on. You laughed at me for having Harry Styles on my celebrity exception list for like, two weeks straight.”
“That was well-deserved.”
“What I deserve is to laugh about whoever this is. And maybe to watch you suffer through a discussion of feelings, since you seem so allergic to them.” He huffs out a laugh. “Literally allergic, at least right now.”
Peter goes to respond, but the sneeze catches hold of him too fast. When he opens his eyes, a wave of tiny dandelion seeds has exploded out of him, a thin cloud of them drifting in the air.
There’s a long moment of silence. Stiles’s surprise morphs into a wild grin.
“Don’t—” Peter begins.
“That was fucking adorable,” Stiles says, to his great horror.
Peter spends the next week trying to muffle his coughs and sneezes in meetings and on recon missions, in front of clients and allies he can’t be seen to be this soft and messy with, and in front of his own pack, where the risk associated with exposure is highest. Laura would torment him about this forever.
What makes the whole thing both terrible and not terrible at all is that Stiles is so fucking understanding about it. After their respective packs team up to take out a nest of nagas, the two of them head back to Peter’s, where they’d usually be all over each other before they even reach the front door. This time, though, Peter coughs up an entire flower on the drive back, and Stiles spends the rest of the evening rubbing Peter’s back in front of the TV and nagging him to stay hydrated.
They don’t even have sex; Stiles pulls Peter against him, careful to keep him at an angle that won’t make it too hard for him to cough, and leans his head on Peter’s shoulder. Like they’re just cuddling. And in hindsight, that’s probably a bad move: the hanahaki always feels worse on the days after their hangouts involve nothing more than literal hanging out.
Presently, Stiles has fallen asleep on his shoulder. There’s a warm spot on Peter’s shirt that he’s pretty sure is drool, but he doesn’t even move away. Which is a sign of true love if Peter's ever heard one. (Stiles is drooling. On Peter’s Italian linen shirt. It bears repeating.)
This can’t last. So far, Peter’s managed to keep this a secret from everyone else in his life, though not without close calls. It’s not something he can do forever, especially not if it’s going to keep getting worse.
It’s time to tell Stiles.
And Stiles is going to be a little shit about it forever, he thinks in resignation.
To his surprise, though, Stiles eventually stops bugging him about who it is, probably because Peter is so uncharacteristically sullen about it. Most of the time, when the coughing gets really bad, he looks on with chagrin, as if he’s not quite sure what to do.
“You have to say something to them, Peter,” he begs from the bathroom door while Peter hacks another pink flower into the toilet, chest heaving. “This is so stupid.”
Peter wipes his mouth, swallowing, and flushes. He winds his way around Stiles, who rolls his eyes.
“What, are you going to do this forever? Or are you going to be one of those martyrs who goes the surgery route?”
“I’m not having surgery,” Peter says wearily. He drops onto the living room sofa, ignoring the spread of petals across the carpet and scattered on the cushions. Stiles could really have left half an hour ago, when it became clear Peter’s coughing was too bad for him to jump into their usual cardio regimen.
“Then what?” Stiles asks, coming to stand in front of him. Which means Peter can’t even pretend to scroll through his Netflix catalog. “You’re killing yourself. It’s not cute.”
Peter throws down the remote. “Hanahaki isn’t—”
“—a death sentence, I know, you’ve said it like a billion times. But that doesn’t mean you need to live with it!”
Peter scrubs a hand over his face, misery trying to masquerade as annoyance. Fortunately, another wave of coughing prevents him from having to come up with an answer.
Sighing, Stiles strides out of the room. The water turns on in the kitchen, and then there’s a click of a burner. A few minutes later, when Peter has mostly composed himself, Stiles comes back out with a steaming cup of tea.
He holds it out to Peter. “Honey ginger,” he says resignedly, when Peter just stares. “It’s good for a sore throat. If you have to fucking do this.”
Peter accepts the mug, taking a sip as he gathers his nerve. When Stiles flops down onto the cushion beside him, arms crossed in irritation, Peter murmurs, “It’s you.”
Stiles frowns at him. “What is.”
With a long-suffering sigh, Peter clarifies, “The hanahaki.”
A few long seconds pass, a few long seconds in which Peter can feel his lungs opening up. The slight, almost subaural whistle they made on every inhale has vanished, just that fast. Fucking magic, Peter thinks.
“No,” Stiles says at last, incredulous. He slowly comes to sit up straight, facing Peter. “But you were the one who said we couldn’t—”
“I know. It makes things awkward. But nothing has to change.”
“Why the fuck not? I…wow.” Stiles looks almost shell-shocked, his hands fluttering from his face to his knees like he’s not sure what to do with them. “Everything could change.”
“What?”
“I mean, you gotta know…I like you. I’m not exactly at love just yet,” he adds hurriedly, his words stumbling over themselves in the way they do when he’s flustered. “But like, I don’t know. It’s still early. We could try, and see where it goes. Right?”
Peter stares, almost disbelieving. “You. Want to try a relationship.”
“Don’t sound so amazed. I only said we shouldn’t because you said it first.” He pauses, shrugging. “And yeah, because it’s way easier for me not to have to talk about this with Scott or Lydia yet. They still think you’re a manipulative bastard.”
Peter feels the beginning of a smile start to bloom on his face. “And you don’t?” he asks, a hint of skepticism in his tone.
“Oh. No, I know you’re a manipulative bastard,” Stiles replies. The hand that slips up to cradle Peter’s jaw belies Stiles’s sly grin. “But I like you that way. Also, you’re kind of stupid sometimes.”
This rips an incredulous laugh from Peter, and it feels really good to laugh without worrying about breaking into a coughing fit.
Stiles watches him, and his expression can only be called fond. “Seriously. I thought you’d figure me out first. Don’t you have a super-sniffer to tell you what emotions people are having?”
Peter could walk Stiles through the intricacies of emotion-based scenting, the difficulties of differentiating the strong smell of arousal from its more subtle relatives. Or he could lean forward to slot his mouth onto Stiles, cupping his ass to pull him in until he’s seated half across Peter’s lap.
“Yeah, okay,” Stiles says, sounding breathless. “Cool. Do you think we can finish this conversation somewhere that doesn’t have flower-vomit all over the place?”
For once, Peter’s too amazed to roll his eyes. Grinning, he takes Stiles by the arm and leads him toward his bedroom.

I need a Teen Wolf rewatch podcast that isn’t anti-Sterek.
I don’t need them to be pro-Sterek, just not actively calling the shippers delusional.
I swear all the podcasters I’ve listened to so far have never heard of the enemies-to-lovers trope. They’re all like “Derek spends the entire episode threatening Stiles!” Correct. In Romancelandia, that’s sexual tension.
It won’t kill you to read romance novel, podcasters!
(Sterek isn’t even my ship, but I see it.)
(My ship is either Steter, Petopher or Stetopher and aside from Steter, I don’t see any of it on the show.)
