I feel like everyone who wants to send you anon hate should be forced to answer reading comprehension questions on your posts like the fucking regents exams ffs. Also truly wild how many white middle class women think they need to be constantly vigilant against every stranger. Like don't get me wrong bad things can and do happen to white middle class women, and that's awful. But it is highly unlikely that the black guy who happens to be walking the same way as you or the guy at the bus stop who's talking to himself are going to hurt you.

I have a friend who won't give money to homeless people because "you just never know." She's afraid if she gets anywhere near an unhoused man he might hurt her. I've given money to homeless guys, and I've apologized if they asked and I didn't have any cash, and I've parked under an overpass I knew was frequented by unhoused people and sought someone out to give a hot meal and a few bucks to. I'm 5'4, white and look like a woman (im nonbinary), and I've never been hurt or threatened or even made to feel unsafe by an unhoused person. I'm not making a statement about how virtuous I am, or whether people should give money to unhoused people, but I'm like, very weak and physically unimposing. If someone wanted to hurt me they probably could.

In broad daylight, in a well-trafficked area, I am probably a greater threat to them than they are to me. And sometimes my first reaction to seeing someone doing something a little off is panic, but then I remind myself I have an anxiety disorder and my first reaction to a lot of things is panic. I'm not gonna call the cops on them, bc that will help no one and make pretty much everyone less safe. Sorry this is so long, this topic is very frustrating to me as someone who is trying to unlearn that mindset. Some people just need to take the bus for a few weeks and realize that people are mostly just trying to live their lives

Most servants or knights would leave within 2 day 3 if lucky but you. You last for 5 months.He knew that you won't budge so he has to turn his game a little.

He hires someone ( more like threatening one of the servants ) to jump on him acting like a hitman to kill him while he's on a walk at the garden. Of course his plan is simple. You are basically attached to him like a dog wherever he goes you go. While he was walking in the royal garden he "suddenly" felt thirsty and ordered you to go and get him some water from the kitchen. You were bout to call for a servant but he stops you and tells you that he wants YOU to take it. You decline saying you have to be by his side at all times. He knew that you'll say that that's why he started to lie and that he doesn't really trust the servants and maids. He's scared that they'll put something in his water. You are considering his words and gave in. You're sure that he'll be fine. It's only a one minute walk anyways. So you left.

-🌹Yan! Prince who laughs at your stupidity and starts his plan. He told the servant to get behind him and put the fake knife on his throat. It was so perfect he knew this will bring you out for good. He then started to scream loudly and you and the other servant Including the king butler ran to where he is and saw that he is bout to get "kill". He saw your terrified face when you saw and he chuckled a little. He then whispered to the servant to push him to the ground and ran. But.....he felt that the servant didn't budge. In fact he tightened his grip and pushed the knife deeper into his throat. That's when he realized that was not a fake knife...that's the real one. At that moment he actually started to tear up from fear and actually for the first time in his life that he felt bad for what he had done. The servant whispered onto his ear saying something that made his eyes widen. "You are the reason why my fiance leaves me ..." The servant said while holding his cries . The servant then suddenly yells and claims that bc of the shit you pulled while he was serving you the king punished him so badly that his parents disowned him and his fiance left him. He closed his eyes in fear. No this can't be the end. When he started to pray for his life he suddenly felt the wind hitting his back. He no longer felt wet disgusting tears falling on his ear he didn't feel a sharp knife being held in his throat. When he opened his eyes. He saw that you knocked the servant down by hitting his head. he felt relieved.

-🌹Yan! Prince who was traumatized by the incident he sat in his room afterwards. He overheard from the servants that you were getting punished for your mistake leaving him alone. He doesn't know why but his chest tightened. He felt weird. He's supposed to feel happy that finally after months of trying to get rid of you he finally did it. Not just that he even got you punished. He was supposed to feel thrilled but somehow he didn't...the servant says that you got whipped at the back 100 times. But the king didn't throw you. Bc the king felt like it wasn't entirely your fault and based on your fighting skills it was a shame if he get rid of you just like that. So the king assigned you to be by his side. Plus the king knew that this is all his son game. But whatever it is it is still your fault bc you disobey the rules.

-🌹Yan! Prince who actually felt bad for something that he pulled for the first time. He heard the rumor saying you were by the king side now. But he's craving for your presence. His father assigned a new knight by his side and he didn't see you until 3 days later he finally got to see you again. While he was laying down on the bed he suddenly heard the knock. His knight came in and kneel besides him saying someone is here to meet him. Considering his tone it doesn't look like it's any of his family members. If it's his family members they would just come in without knocking. He taught for a moment and nodded signaling to let the person in.

-🌹Yan! Prince who was shocked to see your face after so long. He didn't know why but seeing your face made his heart beat faster. he knew he didn't see you for only 3 days but somehow it felt like it's been years. He felt warm when he saw you but quickly snapped when he heard your voice. You kneel in front of him considering he absolutely hates it when you are beside him. " My prince how r you feeling?. ". God has your voice sound so angelic before? Maybe it's always been angelic but he's the one that didn't notice that. He felt even more warmer when you asked how he was feeling. Really? How can you still ask and care for him after what he did to you. Without him realizing he was staring at you. You clear your throat and continue " Im not expecting you to acknowledge me I want to apologize for what happened. I wasn't supposed to leave you that day and it's my fault. I deserve every hit every punishment that was given. I just want to say thank you for letting me stay and serve you my prince. I know you don't care but I just want to say that I'm not mad nor felt hatred for you. " You inhaled and got up to bow to him. " And I think you are aware that I'm no longer serving you bc of what happened. I'm now serving The King. Thank you for letting me serve you my prince. ". After giving one last bow you left.

They got lowkey obsessed with him in middle school but didn't realize till highschool. They tried giving lots of hints that they liked him but he didn't get it. Let's not even talk about the note.

Casper is more a lowkey yandere where they know Charlie would come to them eventually and if not they'd act.

Meeting an obsession young isn't fully helpful bc you would want to find them no matter what.

But when they had to move this fuled Casepr to make enough money to make Charlie and them live happily. That's why they know how to use a switch blade. They took on lots of different jobs, even assassination.

When Charlie said I did like you. It made Casper almost take him right there. Charlie most likely has a feeling but shrugs it off bc "My Casper? Naw." But Casper is behind him hiding a body that decided to fuck with him during his shift.

Star:

Starts of platonic bc they only just met him. They want to protect him from others to show him off bc he is a nice person. But they know he won't leave them for someone.

They also have special privileges since he considers them a friend right now. Like shopping, I feel like Star would be the one who would gift Faust many things to keep him with them. Like meaningful ones.

They don't talk about the stalker a lot bc they killed them. But the court ruled it as self defense bc the stalker had a weapon.

They have used their status as a big streamer to their advantage if someone got to ballsy with insulting Faust when he's trying to be nice to everyone...you don't even deserve his attention negative or not you fucking-

Auron obviously knows. He likes it and is semi a yandere himself with how he told them he won't give up on them if they stayed.

Rook fell when they first saw him. So when he told them over that dinner date their obsession grew, at the first one they have they were trying to get more information without seeming obsessive since he's observant as well.

Rook has intimidated some people at the work place when they say they liked Auron or seem like getting too close.

They can be manipulative with their silver tongue, so it usually is them planting a thought that Auron would never look at them or Rook showing off how Much Auron tolerates them since he's never like that with anybody.

Trish does tell them a bit of things he likes (she definitely knows about their obsession) I feel like since Auron said something. About her intuition that she just knows they're a perfect match.

Angel:

Lucien know off the bat that Angel was a bit fucked in the had I Mena why keep a demon in your house? But he's chill with it.

Angel is a chill Yandere anyways I mean no one can know of Lucien. Sure Angel wants to brag but they won't ever let someone lay eyes on him.

I hc if Lucien ever needed to eat human flesh they would lure creeps and pesos to their apartment so that Lucien can feast. He's put up a sound barrier too so that the neighbors don't get suspicious.

Angel mostly keeps to themselves when outside of the apartment so no one thinks anything is going on with them.

And that's mostly what I think the boys would react with the listener being yandere and some hc sprinkled in.

Do you think rafe actually knows what he was doing (seasons 1-2 and maybe like parts of 3 but that's pushing it) I mean like does he know that what he's doing is like actually happening and the people he's hurting are actually real people and not just like dark fantasies in his head

I remember rose saying something about how rafe's problems started when he was younger (or at least that's when she finally noticed) and a privileged kid seeing typical action movies and shows could have influenced rafe in his day to day life now but by doing these things that he deems ok because of this artificial view on the world, is actually what makes him practically all alone now, he isn't a dumb kid that makes dumb choices, no he's a man now that's caught up in his own head telling himself that he's always been alone and how it's always going to be that way while he's pushing everyone away (y'know how some characters start dealing drugs because they have no other way of getting money it's either that or they steal, or how some if not all of the characters in action movies are always handling big guns or how the hero starts doing crazy things in order to 'protect' your family, we see him do all of these things like killing sheriff peterkin bc he thought that he was protecting ward, he doesn't know how to work a normal job because he's a kook why would he need to learn all of that crap? He's a Cameron for that matter, he's the fuckin kook prince, his life should be all about sex money drugs/alcohol and because of that when he wants something that he knows ward wouldn't approve of he starts doing what he's seen other people do but the only people he actually kinda respects that don't have to ask their parents for money are the people on tv and what do they do? They steal and sell drugs so what does rafe do when he's in a situation where he doesn't have or think he'll get something that he sees as his to take? He sells the drugs that he gets from Barry and he steals the cross from the pogues without learning what the cross actually means to pope and the other pogues, the cross means a BIG ASS DEAL TO POPE and he doesn't bother to look further into it, why? Because Pope's a pogue and rafe's a kook, rafe was practically raised to think he deserves everything in his life without working for it, he does all these things that you would expect from an action hero would do in a movie or book but he fails to realize why those people did it and their fucked up reasonings for it and I think that's is what's happening with the whole cross situation... I mean think of it, imagine seeing in theaters about a boy that's lost everything, his father can't be with him because of his own stupid actions that only happened because he needed to protect his father because his dear old dad was really just trying to better his family and there's nothing wrong with that huh 🥺, his father is gone and it's his fault but at least his dad is still alive and that's enough for the boy, it's good enough for him to know that he's still out there because the boy needs his father even if he can never fully reach him after all that's exactly what their relationship has been doing his whole life isn't it?, but shit's hit the fan and now he has to 'save' what little family he has left in anyway he can, and how does he do that? By stealing something very valuable and restore greatness to his family no matter how badly their relationship is, in fact it seems as though that the boy turned hero in his eyes is actually offended that his sister doesn't understand why he's doing it so why should she even have it, in fact at this point the sister has already declared herself as not apart of the family even if the sister loves them, she's not family anymore so why does it matter that she almost died because of the hero's actions? I mean the hero actually already killed someone now and it was for the family and she's made it clear that she doesn't want to be his family anymore so why should he care? It's not like they liked each other from the start anyways

But we do see glimpses of him grounding himself in reality from time to time, y'know like how he asked for help because he's actually not fine and he's not entirely sure why he's done what he's done other than the fact that he thought he was protecting his family, or when he was pointing the gun at Sarah's head and was about to shoot like how he dead with peterkin but that's still the same girl he grew up with but it's still the girl that doesn't view him as family anymore it's like he's fighting this little darker side of him but not completely I mean she's still alive but the anger is there... The anger with always be there, it runs through his veins and what keeps him going ( his hatred for the pogues, his weird obsession with getting revenge, his violent ways of trying to get his father's love and is sadden by the fact that his dad doesn't appreciate his ruthlessness and anger not knowing that his father sees himself in rafe whenever he does those things and it terrifies him, sure ward loved rafe but he's terrified because ward also killed in order to 'help' the family he's also done some pretty fucked up things for his family and still loves Sarah, and I'm sure that rafe does love Sarah to some extent why else would he not shoot her on purpose when the pogues escape him and his dad? Wards sees this and tries to place all this blame onto this young man that is obviously hurting and hurts other people in order to cope with it, ward grew up poor and thinks because of that in some way that he deserves to steal and cheat too, and somehow treating rafe in the same way that he(ward) needs to be humbled definitely does seem like they might suffer from the same thing (whatever that may be) and in a way rafe must have picked up this behavior from ward. Ward feels this sense of entitlement because he's had a rocky start and now rafe has been raised with that same feeling of entitlement without going through what ward did pisses him off)

But both ward and rafe know what they're doing but don't know the full extent of what the consequences of their actions might actually have, do you think that rafe actually knew of the significance of the cross to the pogues and most importantly pope? No all he saw was a chance to finish what his dad started (which by the way is actually what ward did so I guess in a way that's another thing that ward fears, rafe following in his footsteps that only lead to death and destruction, death for those around them and destruction to their family) do you think ward knew how important it was for Sarah to help the pogues and finally be like them? No, all he saw was his smart little girl leading him to the gold for their family to have, not the girl so ashamed of her family that she might just feel her pulse sometimes and think about how the blood in her veins are half of her terrible dad's being and how she has to catch herself before going completely off the rails in fear of being like her brother, she's afraid of who she is and even gets sad when she's reminded by other about who she's related to and where she came from.

I think rafe really hates pope because some part of him knows that Sarah and him are more alike than most would think, y'know because pope is a pogue that doesn't really act like it I mean he's cautious of the situations that the pogues normally find themselves in and it's not just about going to jail like it is with JJ it's about how he actually wants to change from being a pogue to a kook, he doesn't want to have to work his ass off in order to go to a nice school, he doesn't want to be pogue anymore. And with Sarah it's about how can she do more to help (the first time we see her she's trying to help those little animals because they can't do it for themselves, which by the way I think is so sweet but it I'm wrong please ignore this, I swear I need to rewatch this fuckin show but these thoughts are invading my mind) and how can she escape the little bubble that her father built for her, she doesn't want to be a kook anymore, she doesn't understand the full experience of being a pogue (y'know when she was homeless, it was a really rough time for her I mean I would be for anyone but I feel like for Sarah it was especially hard considering where she came from and how she was used to being treated, and the only way she could get alcohol was by stealing it and how finding cleo was really eye opening for her seriously I love Cleo and how she's so important for Sarah and her arc ☺️) and how pope doesn't know what being a kook actually means (it's usually just dealing drugs and their parents questionable money but also emotionally unavailable parents no matter how hard they try *coughs* ward *coughing continues* and how people constantly undermine you because you simply come from money and expects nothing but disrespect and arrogance from you even if you're the sweetest person ever.

Rafe hates how pope and JJ are together because the guilt from everything that he's done to Sarah and how much he wishes that he can go back to when they were like that (I headcannon that rafe and Sarah used to be close when they were younger, I mean the way Sarah just looked at rafe when she boarded the jet instead of trying to kill him like how he tried to do her, I feel like that's just her being better than him or if it was that little part of her that still wishes that her brother goes back to the way he used to treat her even though she knows that it can't ever be a possibility ever again ☹️) and seeing that their seemingly opposites are doing so good together and now stealing her away from him and his family kinda sets him off (remember how rafe was really going at it when him, topper, and Kelce were ganging up on jj and pope? Yeah that might have guilt turned into anger because just seeing them makes him mad, is it because they are pogues? Maybe, could it be possible for him to lose his shit because they are everything that he can't ever be? Like how pope has a loving and supportive dad and mom and how jj has someone that's like a sibling to him always be by his side no matter how crazy his ideas might get? Yeah I suppose that could be it 🤷🏽‍♀️) but then theirs some more level of rage because even the thought of rage being jealous of a couple of pogues just sounds absurd doesn't it? Honestly to rafe it might even be shameful

It isn't until the next season and the third season that actually makes it clear to rafe that he isn't as good as a guy that he makes himself out to be, like he knows everything that he's done is bad now and how it's actually affected people... But it's already too late, he can't stop now, no no, not after everything that he's done, he can't stop and it makes him feel bad even moreso once he finally knows that ward is officially dead this time and how rafe's actually going to jail now

first of all you don't have to apologise this is such an amazing analysis of his character and I have to admit I'd never thought about it before in the way that you worded it.

More thoughts below the cut but TL;DR - I agree with everything you've said anon <3

I think in Season 1 specifically, he was desperately trying to seek Ward's approval and affection/praise because it's as important to him as breathing. He NEEDS his father's approval and he'll do whatever he can to get it, even if it means terrorizing a group of pogues for the gold. His whole life up to that point has been Ward and Rose just throwing money his way to keep him happy and out of trouble, he hasn't had to earn or work for anything until the gold came into play. S1 Rafe is a broken and neglected character whose sense of self has definitely been warped by Ward and Rose's neglect, turning their attentions instead towards Wheezie and Sarah. And exactly like you said, he's been known to have issues in the past, at a much younger age, and whilst we don't know specifically what those issues are, I can't imagine it would take much figuring out, based on his behaviour in S1.

His relationship with Sarah, at the beginning at least (as an older sibling myself) is strained at best but it doesn't really span beyond that until he finds out that she's involved with John B/the Pogues, and his perception of what she "deserves" does drastically change, in his eyes, Sarah is now also a credible threat to the family because she witnessed him shooting Peterkin to save Ward. She's a loose end and it no longer matters that they're related, she's an obstacle. I think if it had been followed more closely in the show, it would've been nice to see Rafe come to terms with all the harm he's done and the way he's completely ruined his relationship with Sarah, after shooting her (albeit I believe that he wasn't necessarily shooting to kill) and basically waterboarding her, there's no coming back from that, at least not easily, yk?

I definitely feel like the way he matured from S2 to 3 was a nice change of pace but also, could've been looked at a little more? I get they had a lot to fit into the season, but even just him talking a bit more about the work he's put into becoming a better person? When he's stuck at Singh's with Kie? That would've been nice IMO. If they'd stopped at S2 I would've said he needed serious professional help and medication etc etc but the "growth" we see in S3 makes me think that he finally had some kind of eye-opening moment that really made him look at how he had behaved, his lifestyle choices and decide to get help on his own terms, rather than being forcibly sectioned

The death of critical thinking that I see in takes about the ATLA live action. I personally don’t care about it and I’m not going to hate on it but I need people to understand that yes you can like it but other people can also be upset.

I’m not going to tag OP as I didn’t want to start an arguement but as a lover of “bad” media, someone who grew up on CW adaptations of favourite characters and a professional nitpicker who finds joy in critical analysis of my favourite shows I can say that this take boils my blood (prefer for a rant that might not be coherent bc I’m ill) :

Shows don’t have to be perfect, they can be flawed but:

1) they should aim to be good - The difference here is that sad money grab adaptations like live action Avatar have the capability to aim for good and just don’t try. People are upset bc they believe (right or wrong) that the show has missed the point of ATLA. That it has major structural flaws (pacing, characters, themes, etc). These aren’t just little ‘oops didn’t get that perfect’ things these criticisms are pointing to there being an issue with the creative team’s intent, understanding and skill at adapting the series.

(The original creators of the animated series left for as far as I am aware undisclosed creative issues but I think we can see that at some point this project was capable of being what people wished for.)

The source material is well loved and while live action has its limits it has the blueprints to be a hit. It just missed.

A beloved show already exists, the live action failed bc it didn’t understand it- why did it change KEY POINTS such as character’s personality? People are upset about specific LARGE changes. Not little nitpicks.

2) Yes shows are entertainment but they are also art - they are meant to say something not just be a cheap laugh. The original had deep messaging. Every comedy, sitcom, drama whatever says something. The shows that last have something that touches the audience. Even cheesey romcoms make the audience care, even if it’s as simple as love.

Can we stop with these ‘maybe the curtain is just blue’ takes!

Dude I love supernatural, I can enjoy a show that has some big flaws. But the difference is that one is an original story with some fucked plot holes and the other is based on an established media that is viewed as almost perfect (the og isn’t perfect, nothing can be).

I don’t think you know what suspension of disbelief is. We suspend our disbelief to believe in bending and avatars and sky bison and penguin sledding. Not to excuse bad characterisation

This for me isn’t about the show. I don’t care but I think takes like this where it encourages you to abandon critical thinking are the worst thing about fandom.

Go and enjoy the show. I’m sure it is fun. Im sure you can find so many lovely new takes on characters. Im sure there’s stuff that builds on the original and makes it better.

But never tell people not to nitpick. Not to criticise. Not to question if the creators understood the text correctly.

I promise Netflix won’t be hurt if people say it’s not good enough and they’d rather just watch the original.

(I don’t know why everything needs a live action adaptation anyway)

your love post about dream just reminded me of something he said during a space. i can’t remember the exact words but it was something along the lines of understanding where his antis are coming from when they hate him for whatever he says or does bc you’re a different person in the perspectives of other people. and i remember being stumped when he said that cause that’s such a mature mindset to have? i love how he tries to do good, and at the same time i feel like he knows when to accept when he can’t change people’s minds. i obvi can’t read his mind but that’s how i interpreted it. but it just sucks now cause it’s a whole different story when it’s someone as close to him as tommy being at the opposing side :( i think we all know how hurt he is based on his likes, but i really hope it works out for him in the end, whether he makes up with tommy or not. i just want him to be at peace

i keep thinking about his "the internet is cold" statement and the way he doesnt immediately attribute someone disliking him to something malicious. he just kinda understands a lot of the shit against him is unserious at the end of the day and laughs it off which is admirable and maybe a bit scary (TO ME). i talked on priv a while back about him always reaching out to other ccs after they talk shit about him to clear up miscommunication over an assumption about HIS character, values, etc which is really mature and a minor droloism of mine but whatever. what makes this different is that it's someone he considered a close friend and very public shade/misrepresentation over another situation involving a personal project where he got burned by another "friend" like... thats just pure betrayal. i'd be pissed too! i'd be sooo mad OMG i'd rain hell on people.

the grind and fame seduces like no other... unfortunately most people value outrage and a quick buck and laugh over sincerity nuance and longevity and well thats the case with most dream discussions/mentions on the internet :( i feel conflicted because on one hand cc friendships and partnerships etc are awesome and amazing but there comes a point where most of the time shit happens (clout, money, etc) and they end messily so while i am sad about it sometimes it is the way it goes and not even dream is immune from that as a cc (snf munchy exempted). like its very danplan/try guys fallout to me (not exact matches but you get what i mean) its happened before and it has and will continue to happen to dream.

still feel really sad about it though because it was a really beautiful friendship born out of mutual respect and passion for the craft. loving people is scary as fuck because you dont know if or when they're gonna turn on you but we still do it anyway. i dont think its overly parasocial to say you wish him peace no matter what; at the end of the day he IS another guy and its not wrong to wish good on people you dont know. i hope it works out too :( many virtual hugs anonnie sorry for these walls of text jfc

i'm sure many people talked about it before, but i actively hate how the ts crew deals with ads, merch, or even basic communication and i need to rant about it too a little (the rest's under the cut, i didn't think i'd be that long but here we are lol)

there's another youtuber that i admire a lot more for this. half his channel is "regular" videos on pokémon strategy, and the other half are livestreams, let's plays, best-of etc (his name is Fildrong btw, if you're speaking a little bit of french and you like pokémon go check out his content, he's super funny) this dude knows how to run a channel, and it shows; he always keeps in touch with his fanbase, letting them know what comes next for videos, let's plays, merch, bigger projects, etc. he reaches out to artists whenever he needs to and pays them decently by the way, he lets the fans know when he's going to have some rest, etc etc. you know, basic stuff

and you wanna know the best part? he's doing this alone. he makes collabs with friends or artists, obviously, and he has an editor for his best-of only, but he runs most of his channel on his own

Thomas and his team don't get this; they're not a group of small creators anymore, they're running a whole business, and it hurts to see a business this big doing it worse than some dude doing more "modest" content on his own (depends on the videos tho, i don't think a roadtrip throughout Europe on a bike is what you could call "modest") (yes, Fildrong did that. twice. the absolute madman)

they're trying to capitalize on a series that's slowly dying because of the lack of communication, or even respect for its fans. i don't think Thomas himself is that invested into it anymore, but i'd much rather him telling us that than trying to make as much money as possible without making actual content. hell, if he even wants to cancel sanders sides altogether for any reason, i'm fine with it!! i'd be disappointed for sure, but at least he'd stop the massacre and do a Cartoon Therapy 2.0

you could claim that because Fildrong has a much smaller fanbase, it's easier for him to communicate with his fans, and to that i'll answer: Markiplier someone else made the same comparison (i can't remember the url, wave if you're here buddy), but Mark doesn't have this problem either; he also keeps in touch with his fans, to let them know about his next project, a little about what's going on in his life, sometimes, when he's going to take some vacations etc, because he knows what he's doing. and he's one of the most popular youtubers ever

what's their excuse to just even tweet "hey sorry for the delay, the next episode is going to take some time" or something like that?? while we would be thrilled to see new content, we'd appreciate even more honesty. the last video made me feel like being taken for an idiot that would willingly give their money away for some over-priced bullshit because look!! a totally new sanders sides video!!!! not a tasteless ad disguised as actual content at all!!!!!

(and yeah, i know the team isn't responsible for the price of the plushies. i'm still allowed to complain about it bc yeah i guess they're kinda cute, but i'm not spending so much money for this) (i don't even think they ship those in my country anyway)

Umineko EP4. Replay Part 4

This must have hurt Maria a lot even if Ange didn't mean anything bad by it... kids are really cruel to things they can't understand often.

I am pretty sure cage made of flesh is explicit wording used by Beatrice before too!

This is Ange at her most raw so far, she doesn't want to live. She doesn't want to keep going. She has no one on her side,,,,

And now we go back to Maria having her own breakdown over Ange's word to remind us that Maria truly is miserable. Having a 9? 8 at this point maybe? year old describe living as holding out is so heartbreaking....

It is interesting to see the contrast in how Maria and Ange do with magic when they are faced with a bad situation - Ange starts denying it entirely and Maria instead leans harder into it ie believing the Good and the Bad Mama thing. I don't think there's a right or wrong answer as to which is better, though, both are harmful to both in certain ways.

Maria brings up how NOT LONELY she is so you know she really ISN'T LONELY did you know Maria is NOT LONELY.

Maria is fucked up but then when the police WAS contacted. It just caused Maria's situation to escalate... obviously, I am not saying the good thing to do was ignore this obviously neglected child. Still, sadly that's the fucked up reality of how it is in real life for a lot of children who finally have their abuse reported.

Tearing up again.... this episode certainly takes the cake in that regard....

And yet, no one really helped Maria.... I don't know exactly the situation with abused children in Japan but I always imagined Rosa used her connections and money in order to keep Maria with her.

If you think about how Maria is very likely autistic, this is all the more horrifying, not that it would be good either way, but having someone be punished and be considered their way of being just for the way they were born is just too harsh.

The smile with which she says this is so fucking horrifying.

Beatrice is under the belief that Rosa made the toy, too.... it's funny, if she knew she could probably get it replaced for her....

Even at her lowest, she is still trying to not hurt the Rosa in her brain, haha....

You can judge Sayo for teaching Maria 'bad coping mechanism' and while, yes, it's probably not ideal for a child to have such thoughts, all her positive coping mechanisms were removed forcefully from her, so what option did Maria really have....

She does end up rethreading to that "naive belief" once the harsh truth of her parents murder is presented to her and she wants an alternate truth....

Yeah like getting dunked by a group of ~10 year olds anyways what Amakusa is saying is extremely important and true otherwise, and Ange really wants to be at that point where she can be happy with/satisfy herself, even with all her faults and trauma.

Ange's coming to important realizations about magic and how she has hurt others, something Battler will realize soon enough too... though I think her general view is not really correct, it's not that Maria was truly self-actualized in her life, it's that she constantly lied to herself about being like that. But she needed someone to understand and help her as she is not someone that would try to change her or remove her coping mechanisms bc they are strange.

Some people feel that Ange is too self-actualized for her to go back as she did in ep8, but like, I don't agree. First of all the temptation to deny her parents the murderers is strong and second even here she is still trying to find ways for her to be the fault for an incident that happened when she was 6. She still desperately wishes for control for her life and is still probably considering killing herself on Rokkenjima.

This is, ironically after talks about hating Beatrice, the sort of understanding Sayo always wished for. For someone to not only be able to respect her and her interests but also understand the deeper pain that lead to it.

"And while still unfulfilled, she met with death," Sadly describes most of the Umineko cast and that's always hard for me to think about for me...

B-battler? Okay, I gues... I am not sure George will appreciate that statement but I am sure Shannon appreciates the hint that maybe you didn't forget her after all (crushed hope on the end of this chapter)

Eeugh, I mean, Jessica didn't mean anything by it but it's kind of a cruel thing to say with full context....

Oh, I forgot about this, I guess Sayo just did her Krauss act in front of Maria...

Was it Sayo? They did solve it on like 30 mins when they really tried.... Also the hammy and crazy version of Kinzo is kind of entertaining lol.

The irony of all of this coming out of Nanjo's mouth when he's currently being both bribed to hide the death of his Dear Friend and being bribed to assist in a murder is funny.

Damn uh, yeah uh, yeah sure.

Rosa can't even be assed to prop Maria up in any way haha.....

Maybe I am biased but I think this is 100% more Sayo's view than anything Kinzo ever remotely thought, the "hoping for a magical miracle" combined with the test that are done later being about love....

Now, I apologize in advance for my responses to your questions because I DO NOT shut the fuck up sometimes so this is gonna be long *cracks knuckles* but here goes!

- "How did you become a Gun simp?" EASY. THAT MAN'S TOO FINE YOUR HONOR. Just kidding! I've answered a question similar to this before so I apologize if it may seem like I'm repeating myself! So once upon a time, there was a time where Gun wasn't my favorite character - nor was he my second or third. My favorites used to be Zack and Goo (and honestly? You can throw in Vasco as well because that dude is too good-natured). I loved Zack because of the character development he went through (I used to Hate him because of how mean he used to be to Daniel but with the power of HUMBLING and wanting to become a better person, Zack became such a likeable person). Dude's got such a big heart and he's so kind, like I love his relationship with Mira and Johan or I guess the people he cares about in general because no matter who he's up against, Zack always stands up and fights for his friends (like this guy stood up to Gun and was the only person to step up and defend Johan, like Zack is that ride or die friend that everyone needs).

Then we got someone who's the opposite of Zack and that person is THE Goo Kim. I loved Goo and the way he's so chaotic and an absolute money hungry scoundrel he is. I've always found him to be such a fun character and he made such a strong impression on me when he was first introduced! At first, we thought that Goo was just sadist that loved money but then ptj pulled a fast one by making us think that he was going to beat tf out of Vasco and Cicada's bullies for free out of the goodness of his heart but no this mfer was really like 'oh, so you hurt these kids for no reason? Perfect. Now I have a reason to beat the shit out of you and not get in too much trouble for it'.

Anyways, back to the main point, how did I become a Gun simp? Well your honor, *clears throat* I just really like how much of an awful person he is and how he's irredeemable as a person. Like this guy? This guy destroys lives for a living and unalives people as a pre-workout snack. Yet, there are moments where we are shown that he has the capacity to do 'good' (I'm using this word very loosely here). Like, for a guy that's very cutthroat, it's interesting on how he's willing to do something like not touch hostel in order to honor Olly's wish.

Gun's also unintentionally funny - like I like how goofy this man is?? Like dude, was really ready to kick a bunch of younger guys’ asses in a parking lot until Crystal stepped in and he's all like 'phew, I need to calm down. I need to take the GED test' LIKE YES WE STAN A MAN THAT VALUES HIS EDUCATION👏🏼 or how this man went to a bathhouse and chilled with a monkey in there or how he sucks at being a bodyguard LMAO. CUZ NO LIKE LETS GET INTO IT. Why did Gun ally himself with Charles Choi during the time Charles was working as a janitor at his centre? I!! NEED!! TO KNOW!!

- "What song would you associate Gun with the most?" OH BOY. THERE'S SO MANY SONGS THAT I ASSOCIATE WITH THAT MAN SO ITS HARD FOR ME TO CHOOSE JUST ONE. BUUUT if I really had to choose, then I really gotta choose songs that are by the weeknd (no this is not just bc I love both men). Here's a few songs that remind me of him: Heartless, Starboy, is there someone else?, I was never there, try me, wasted times, wicked games, the party & the after party, hardest to love, too late, escape from LA, the hills, missed you. Oh and also Ghostface killers by 21 savage, Metro Boomin, and Travis scott

Here's the thing - most of these songs and its lyrics don't necessarily relate to Gun but when I listen to those songs I just think of him?? This man has truly made my rotten oml

- "If you were given a day to hang out with Gun, what would you do if you were with him?" OOF I feel like I'd be too intimidated to even look him in the eye because not only is this mfer is tall as hell (I don't believe for a second that he's only 6'3 like he's gotta be taller than that or PTJ just likes making him taller with every new appearance) he's not exactly the most friendly person. BUT if I did muster the courage to talk to this man, I'd probably take this man shopping (whether it's for myself or for him - I don't mind either way). If we went shopping for him, I'd be there to stop him buying another goddamn cheetah print shirt or that yellow striped button blouse. If not that, then I'd ask him to teach me some basic self defense moves! But I also feel like he'd be kind of mean about it. Or he'd be like, "Why can't you do this? It's easy." And I'd be like "Well Gun, some of us AREN'T prodigies and haven't been training all our lives, yknow?"

Or better yet, I'd have a movie night with him and make him watch a bunch of martial art/action movies. Each time a fight scene would come up, our convo would be like,

"Can you do that?" "Yes." "Okay, what about that one?" "Yes." "This one, too?" "Yes." "Now why does that sound like a lie?" "WHY would I be lying?" "Well Gun, you can't possibly know EVERY move I'm pointing out." "That is literally just a Brazilian kick." "Now how the hell am I supposed to know that?"

Or "can you do that?" "Yes." "Does that actually work in real life?" "IT can if your opponent is standing completely still." "...so since you're sitting completely still, can I try that move on you?" "You can if you want but I can't say for sure that it'll end well for you."

And if Gun's got some paperwork to do or smth, then I'd probably interrupt him and be like

- "How did drawing become a hobby to you?" So I actually grew up watching anime (I miss the days when they used to play sailor moon and bleach on tv). I've always loved Sailor moon's art style or Arina Tanemura's art and so when I was younger, I started to practice drawing by redrawing their art! However, after some time later, i ended up dropping art because I was unsatisfied with my art. I've always had trouble figuring out or finding my art style - which is why I'm always in awe at everyone's on here because it's like, you see their art style and you instantly know its their art. it wasn't until I joined the lookism fandom on here and became inspired to start drawing again! It's also thanks to Gun that I have all this motivation to draw because all I want to do is draw him - like it's horrible on how much this man has a chokehold on me😔😔

Just some general advice as I see your posts on occassion on my feed and your current breakdowns on your financials but my guy you should probably get a standard job along side your art.

I say this mostly in a place of I've been there done that sort of thing, I used art to support myself for years while also working a regular 9-5 and while eventually I discovered that doing art fulltime wasn't my thing I can't stress enough that not going forward and getting a regular job to support yourself and your wife when you know you are just barely making it (in your own words) is a borderline lazy thing to do.

Your financials are a major priorty and it shows a lack of character when you can't see that you need to make an effort in a different position. And as someone who also immensely struggles with mental illness also I can tell you that getting that regular 9-5 can help alot with your health. Like for one it can get you moving so minimal excersise is taken care of, possible better money flow and a break from the computer also helps with settling your thoughts. It can be stressful and exaughsting but having a concrete ground of what you're doing along side of art also may give you some piece of mind.

I implore you to just start looking for a regular job to take off some of the stress and it could defo help you loose weight to just from little things that you crowd out

Joint pain is avoided with excersise, breathing problems lifted with regular activity and a little stamina training

San antonio is a booming economic city there are a shit ton of jobs you can get and i know it can be overwhelming especially when mental illness can hold you back but in a loving sense you fr just need to pick yourself up by the bootstraps and get shit done or else you're always going to suffer man

i super appreciate this sentiment and im not going to get defensive like my initial reaction usually is to someone telling me to "get a real job" b/c i do see youre genuinely trying to help me out and give me advice so thank you

my problem honestly is that i dont see myself as fit to having a "job job" as i am right now. i feel like all im good at/able to do is art, and thats why i put all of my effort into that. basically i dont have enough confidence in my abilities outside of art :(

constant thoughts of "what if it makes me miserable? what if i do a horrible job b/c its not art?" and etc. yknow? i feel like i need to work on myself mentally a little still

like to be fair i have looked for in person jobs around san antonio, on MULTIPLE occasions. ive had a few interviews even. ive held a job for a couple months at an aquarium (granted it was art--caricatures) but that was a couple years ago and i was in a worse mental place than i am right now so it only lasted a couple months and i was like..miserable, even though i was doing art. everywhere else i had an interview just didnt want me bc of my lack of experience (which is stupid bc i was genuinely making an effort to get these jobs and how else am i supposed to get experience if not from Your Business like????? cmon. anyway)

a major problem even outside of myself is that, between my wife and i, we only have one car. i am planning to learn to drive genuinely and getting my own vehicle, but right now we only have one ride between us, and she has a full time job so she cant take care of driving me to my job all the time and i wouldnt want to put that on her anyway. so thats also an issue we run into when it comes to me having a job job

trust me i do on occasion look for "actual" jobs outside of my commissions. ive applied to a lot and nobody ever gets back to me or if they do they dont want me, which both very much hurt my confidence in getting a job outside of art but thats another issue i think. if i want to get a non-art job i think i'll be forced to try a work from home route like data entry again or something

again, i thank you for wanting to help and i appreciate it and apologize for basically responding with a bunch of excuses but i want you to understand my position as well u_u/ i dont post a lot (if..at all) about when i do non-art job searches bc i never feel like theyll work out and so far they havent but i honestly havent given up the idea, i do think about this a Lot, way more than i let on, and i do go back and forth searching for non-art jobs on occasion when things feel really rough. so its not something thats lost on me

ok so bruno was a fisherman's son and his parents were divorced bc his mom fucking sucked, so his dad was giving tours and trying to get a lot of money for him to go to a good school and have a promising future and all that and he was just a really really good dad right? loved his son and everything

so one day his dad took these two guys out to an island bc they said they wanted to go fishing there but they were actually drug dealers and he caught them making a deal and tried to stop them, so they shot him seven times and he was later rescued and put into a hospital

and since his mom sucked bruno was the only one there for his dad and he was fuckning twelve and his dad wasn’t dead but he was in critical condition so he couldn’t leave the hospital and then the drug dealers came back to finish the job and bruno was the only one there and he’d kinda been expecting that they would come back or something so he was hiding under his dad’s bed and he killed them both

since. yk. that’s kinda illegal. he had no choice but to go to the mafia and ask for protection, which lead to him having to be a fucking mafioso when he was just a little kid and he had to kill people and stuff and to top if all off his dad died a few years later anyway and he was never fukcing able to protect him after all and he threw away his entire life for just a couple years

and it hurts so bad bc he’s still such a good person throughout the story, like yeah hes a murderer and everything but he helps people when he can and everyone loves him because he’s practically a saint but they’re all putting him up on a pedestal and hgksjflngsglkjhgsnkfgsngj i love him so much :(((((

so!! leone was also a really good person but the difference between him and bruno is that he actively decided that being a good person was worth shit and stopped but bruno kinda just became a good person because he wanted to ANYWAY

leone became a cop when he graduated hs because he wanted to help people, but unfortunately it wasn’t what he expected and a lot of people hated cops because like some old lady would get robbed and he would only get there in time to ask if she was alright instead of like . arresting the robber

he was still trying to do the best for his city though, but he kinda sorta ended up taking dirty money and let a criminal go because he reasoned that the criminal would get out of prison anyway and it wasn’t worth his time

as you might imagine that was a bad move and a few days later he got a call for a robbery and he went to the store and found a dead guy that had been shot by the criminal who he’d accepted the money from. the criminal blackmails him and is like “heheheh you cant arrest me bc then i’ll tell everyone you let me go the first time”

and leone. fucking is about to listen to him. and then the criminal pulls out a gun and shoots at him. and leone’s fucking partner. jumps in the way and pushes leone aside and gets killed.

so now leone’s responsible for killing someone along with being a dirty cop and they kick him out of the police force and he became an alcoholic for like a few months and just an overall absolute disaster until bruno found him and invited him into the mafia and he agreed bc what the fuck else was he supposed to do

then they both fall in love and happy ending <33333

Oh You Asked For It Buddy! You Asked For This! You! Asked! For This!

okay i mean like first of all. there's just something so compelling to me about how it begins like. they both meet at a pretty low point in their lives--although admittedly that's speculation on my part for mr benedict's side of things, but it makes sense (although it does assume milligan was the first he met, but to be fair i think it would still apply albeit to a lesser degree if he were the second, but i digress)--where they're alone, and they have this crazy story that no one believes, and it's just them against the world, you know?

and they meet and they have every fuckin reason not to trust each other. like, milligan is, to someone who doesnt know him, an intimidating man. and nicholas is in a fairly vulnerable position already, it wouldn't be hard to take advantage of his narcolepsy if you knew about it, and honestly, hypothetically, if milligan wanted to, he wouldn't even need to. nicholas isn't exactly the most physical guy and milligan is. large (affectionate) . you know? he could snap him like a twig. on the other hand, mr. benedict has like. money, a house, and he is in a position where he could easily help or hurt milligan, and even in helping him, if he wanted, could take advantage. obviously, just as milligan would never hurt an innocent person, nicholas would never do that. but the possibility is there.

so like both of them are, albeit in different ways, in a vulnerable position with the other. both of them have been through a lot and probably feel like there's no one around them they can trust. both of them have already been hurt and disregarded as "crazy". they have every! every reason not to trust each other! either of them could hurt the other so easily, either of them has every reason to be afraid, to not trust, and yet!!!!! and yet they do!!!!

they choose to trust each other anyway. they choose to work together and it PAYS OFF!!! IT WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE!!! bc they ARE both trustworthy people!! im biting the walls.

and like just imagine how that must have evolved, going from strangers living in the same house, just trying to help each other out of just. compassion. faith. to getting to know each other--what mistakes they might have made, what bumps on the road to becoming a team, a well-oiled machine--and becoming closer, eventually becoming friends. and that trust--fragile, at first, built on faith and hope alone--becoming rock solid, formed of friendship and truly knowing the other. and like, supporting each other, whether it's milligan's memories and how he wonders what kind of person he might have been, or mr. benedict's secrets and his own low self-esteem, being there for each other (when and if) and like. BITING THE WALLS I AM BITING THE WALLS

i just love the idea of like. how they got to know each other, develop that trust into something unbreakable, until they're at even just where we see them in the show, where they clearly trust one another implicitly and work smoothly together and like support each other at every turn and clearly know each other so well like AAAA

and the more domestic things, too, like how it's clearly just something they do when nicholas is reading ivanhoe out loud to them by the fire? like they just do that. that's a thing. in canon. things like that, and like cooking together, teasing each other--like number two's fruit leather being really really good (except the bark kind do not eat that kind), you know, things like that. and how casually they know how to help with his narcolepsy, but don't tiptoe around it, how they try to find things milligan enjoys even if he can't remember, whether it's food or hobbies, how nicholas keeps an epi-pen just in case he's allergic to something and they don't know. practicing first aid or morse code or maybe hand signals they all know just in case. and like they all work pretty well together as a team, in a way that speaks to me of like, experience and practice, even if rhonda is clearly the newest and has friction with number two they still all work together well and seem completely unfazed by bribery, forgery, breaking and entering, etc., so like. i feel like they've had to have done other things, likely in order to get information on the sender or evade him, so like. also that! missions, or research together, working together. you know? and like specifically with mr. benedict and milligan, god imagine that when they were alone. mr. benedict couldn't exactly do fieldwork very safely--or, he could, but with limits--but he doesn't love the idea of sending milligan in alone, either, no matter how capable he proves to be. but what other choice do they have? so like, times after that, whether it's mr. benedict helping him with first aid after a particularly close call, and the quiet intimacy of that (and later, when there's more of them, number two fussing and rhonda bustling about to get the first aid kit, it's not quite the same but it's still so good--but for now, they're alone, and it's just careful hands trying not to shake as they help clean a wound), or researching together, alone, quietly exchanging notes and ideas, and sometimes the conversation drifts to other things as they get to know each other...

like i think a lot about what firsts they might have had. the first time either saw the other had a nightmare, how that changed their perception of the other. how they might start developing little routines for it, too, hot cocoa or not pushing to talk but just reading together or sitting together or a conversation about anything else. the first time they hugged--why? what happened? in what context? and like, that'd be milligan's first hug ever, in his memory, and likely the first nicholas has had in some time, and what's that like? the first time milligan catches him when he falls asleep, how he feels about that, how milligan feels about that, and when was the last time that happened? how does it feel when one day nicholas realizes that it's so normal to him now he almost expects it, he isn't achy and bruised all the time, and that he's used to it? how does it feel when milligan realizes one day he hasn't felt that shaky desperate fear he had those first few weeks or months when he was alone in a long time? that he genuinely feels safe? that this house has become a home, one that nicholas is part of? what about when they both realize that when they have a nightmare it's almost automatic to see if the other is awake, to actually seek comfort, even passively? to know they can get comfort? what about their first serious conversation with each other, beyond milligan's first explanation of his story and nicholas's in turn--confiding in the other and somehow they seem to know what to say, realizing they trust the other to enough to share?

and of course the things they don't share, like nicholas's brother, or things they just don't talk about, don't quite acknowledge. not out of lack of trust but because it's too painful and the other knows not to push. and the things that don't quite click just right--'mr benedict' and 'sir' most of the time, especially during the day and during the work, because he feels indebted even though he has no fear nicholas would ever use that against him. nicholas's own issues with low self esteem, guilt that he's secretly a bad person, that he might be using milligan, that he's never told him the truth about his supposed 'true nature'. how it's not quite perfect, but they're still so close? you know?

(it makes me want to reach out and adjust it just a little, so the puzzle pieces click just right. and canon gives them that chance--milligan's memories restored, their mission done, nicholas's past revealed--there's plenty of chances now to be on completely even ground.)

and like, just. getting that far?? going from strangers bound by fate and necessity to true friends and partners?

and obviously this also applies to the other members of their little found family, them going from being alone to being alone together to slowly finding others, being a team, a family whether they'll admit it or not but like!!

it's about trust! and compassion! and faith and love and goodness in humanity! it's about being alone and finding light in the dark!!! about found family and friendships formed in being alone together trying to help people even when no one helps you!! about people helping and supporting each other!!! it's about friends when it seems hopeless!!! about thinking you're alone and everyone's turned against you and finding someone else like you!!! it's about trust! it's about kindness! it's about love! FUCK!

and honestly, all of this is still iconic and amazing and so so good if it's just like, platonic friendship. or even getting into queerplatonic territory, utterly good and valid 10/10. i'd genuinely be happy with that too. but i admit, i'm a little bit of a romantic at heart--as much as i hate how fandom tends to center shipping and how society puts romance over friendship, i'm kind of a sucker for a fictional romance anyway. albeit usually queer ones that i make myself. (i could probably get into all the complex ways this interacts with my sexuality, because im pretty sure im ace and i might be aro or demi, but honestly, i don't even know lmao. anyway) so i like exploring it as a ship anyway, you know? but it's just one way of looking at it among many, albeit one i tend to favor. (and to think this started as a half-ironic joke 😩 remember kids if you ship something ironically it will become unironic eventually whether you want it to or not)

ANYWAY! i think even once the others are there, like. now don't get me wrong, it's not a case of one or both of them loving the other More than the others. it's not like that. i mean, romance doesn't go above friendship anyway, it's just a different type of love, not More or Better. but like, they've been around together the longest, and they kind of have an understanding. i'm sure each has their own unique understandings with each of the other members of the team, but like, in this case, what i mean is like. milligan saw mr. benedict at his lowest point, even if he was trying very hard to seem fine, and mostly succeeding. especially as at that point they weren't the close-knit friends/colleagues(???? like. team members.) they are now. but he did see that, and i think while there's still plenty of like. that same respect (and again, the insistence that he 'owes mr benedict everything' and use of 'sir' so there is a like. distance there, in some ways--although this is firmly in the realm of headcanon i do believe that perhaps later, when they are alone, and not so mission oriented, he calls him nicholas sometimes. when it's important. you know) he sees him just a little differently. and that goes both ways, very much so.

and as much as i like the idea of just sort of being like and then they get together in some ambiguous pre-canon so i don't have to deal with as many characters or the main plot, i do also love like. post-canon for a lot of reasons like.

now we gotta/get to deal with:

they both have kids now (kate and constance!)

nicholas's evil twin + the main plot in general

milligan's memories are back! im sure this wont have any far-reaching implications for their relationship (and just in general)

the complexities of how specifically it was nicholas's twin brother who took those memories

the mission is over so one could certainly imply there is no longer a "workplace", but they're sticking together anyway (or you could go with the wetherall farm, which adds its own complications, but either way it's not like they're going to suddenly never talk again) so like. perhaps no more 'mr benedict' although old habits are hard to break, especially with curtain's new evil plans on the horizon (and will mr. benedict get kidnapped? hm)

generally just dealing with like. the various implications of the events of season one (the kids, curtain's future evil plans, sq, milligan's memories, etc etc etc)

which ujst brings so so so much to consider i dont even have time for all of this like. i just love the idea. like.

they're dads. they're both dads. this has so many implications. how they end up kind of co-parenting both kids even though technically constance is nicholas's and kate milligan's (and they were already sisters before they realized they were their respective kids anyway). how they each get to see the other being a great dad and just go ah..... hes such a good dad....... :). how they rely on each other and support each other (since again they are both just like Suddenly Single Dads ldkfgjdfg--they also, obviously, have the other adults, but again, they are both in kind of the same boat, albeit in wildly different routes to get there). how their kids do interact with this whole thing and see this and how they might react to "so our dads might be in love? hm" (both potential for angst and comedy, but in this case i lean towards the latter)

milligan's memories. like. remembering the person he was before, and who he is now, and like. choosing to let himself be both, rather than trying to force himself to be the person he was ten years ago? like he'll remember things--his childhood home, memories with young kate, memories of whoever her mother was, of his parents, of whatever from his past--and it's like. how could he ever have forgotten? and like. the fact that nicholas's twin took them from him. took kate from him. but like, he doesn't blame nicholas (even though nicholas very much blames himself) even when he remembers his time actually working at the institute and remembers curtain's face. like actually remembers being dragged off to the brainsweeper and curtain's face when it happened. and like, the good and the bad, knowing that as nicholas promised--i'll be there for you when you need me, when and if--that he has support, both with this and with kate, that he isn't alone anymore, that if someone tried to take his memories again, tried to take him again... he'd be missed, people would look for him, and even if he were to be taken, kate would be okay, because of course nicholas and the others would never allow her to be alone again. and like the implications of all these things coming back to him, from railroad trivia to chemistry to the people he once knew, and how it mixes with the memories and the person he's become over these last ten years... like. milligan choosing to keep the name milligan, because he's gone by it for ten years and all the people he loves know him as that and it is his name, now, and he chose it himself, he chooses to keep it. (not me wanting to talk about personal headcanons with him and/or nicholas being trans--) and like how these memories affect how he sees the world now, how he sees his newer memories now, how he might notice things he wouldn't have before, know things he didn't know... how would affect his perspective? their perspective, even? their relationship?

and like i just think that while there's a lot going on so it's unlikely anything would happen right away, it is like. fertile ground for the seeds to be planted. with their long mission over, the emergency finally vanquished, and nicholas's past out in the open, milligan's past unlocked and memory slowly becoming whole, they're on more even footing than ever. and even as they end up going against his brother again--and no doubt nicholas offers them all a way out, especially milligan who's already lost so much and could easily lose more, with kate still here, but not one of them takes it--they are once again fighting side by side (metaphorically speaking) which leaves plenty of room for tense situations and possibilities, and just like.

their relationship developing further, they get closer, more comfortable with each other now that those little things that never quite clicked have been adjusted. those firsts, again, do you think? the first time nicholas has a nightmare about his brother and actually shares what it was about, the first time milligan talks about his memories and his conflicting feelings about them, about kate and curtain...

(you could also get more tropey, like the first time they fall asleep together, because the day is long and the night is so dark and for once they're comfortable enough to just ask. just ask.

or getting a little sillier, things like 'the first time we totally had to like, pretend to date/make out/whatever. you know. for the mission/the distraction/the cover.' (this could also be pre-canon to be fair) or 'curtain attempts to give milligan the shovel talk because he somehow thinks he has the high ground. they're not even in a relationship yet. this does not end well' or whatever lmao)

and of course. i mean. first kiss! first kiss! so many possibilities! i'm falling apart! is it sudden, impulsive, in the aftermath of a horrible time or in the eye of the storm? is it slow and warm and it just feels inevitable, neither of them are surprised because they felt it coming a mile away? is it silly? is it casual? is it accidental? is it late in the night, warm and tipsy? or gentle, and one of them wasn't expecting it, but they melt anyway? is it desperate and before a parting, or full of relief in a reunion? do they talk afterwards or is there no need for words? or is there no time, no time at all? are they alone? with friends? among enemies? is it clumsy and unpracticed but sweet, or perfect?

and like where do they go from there? i feel like surprisingly not that much would change, especially outwardly--they're all already so close, and tight-knit, and they support each other so much already, it's just like. not that they need romance to heal but it helps, both just bc of where they're at with their pasts finally being dredged up and dealt with, and because they do have each other! maybe nicholas gets more openly affectionate, finally feeling like he's allowed, beginning to let go of his guilt, and maybe milligan begins to laugh easier again, smile more. but not much changes, just that sometimes when nicholas laughs himself to sleep with a dumb pun or beams brightly when one of them teases him, milligan leans forward to kiss him (and maybe the kids heckle them, delighted and teasing), and sometimes when milligan laughs nicholas doesn't even try to hide the lovelorn look and instead steps closer. and if they sleep in the same bed, it's not like anyone cares or has reason to notice, and if they end up basically being dads to each others' kids as well, honestly, the entire group is basically co-parenting All of the kids, even the ones that are decidedly none of theirs, so really, it's not a big difference.

and like a first date.... would they try a little too hard before realizing that they don't have to change just bc they've changed what their relationship is called? like a kinda awkward dinner or something where they're trying a little too hard to be A Romantic Relationship(TM) but then they actually talk and it's like okay fuck this fancy restaurant let's go somewhere more us and they end up like. at the library, or at the park, somewhere they've been before, and just like. talking. except now, you know, when he looks over at nicholas waving his hands animatedly while explaining something and thinks ah, i want to kiss him, he CAN. and so on. or you know, maybe that doesn't happen at all, maybe they don't feel the need for 'dates' in that sense, even if perhaps they do intentionally spend more time with just the two of them, maybe the transition is smooth and easy.

it's not like it'd be perfect or without problems, and the issue of their inexplicably intertwined tragic backstories, namely tied together by nicholas's brother, doesn't exactly go away. but like. they're all already so close? you know? and they love each other. and both of them cant help but like. wake up and see their partner--because boyfriend feels small, and they've been partners for a lot longer than they've been kissing--and just think they're so very lucky to have made it here. to have a family, to have come so far, no longer alone and afraid but surrounded by loved ones, now a father and a husband partner and just part of a family.

(of course, the wedding is a whole other thing. but you know.)

as for what made me start shipping it, honestly, it was half a joke at first. not like, in a bad way, but i wasn't serious, because this is a fandom i generally go gen for, considering it's so found family focused. even in this ask a lot of what i was talking about kinda shifted to that general found family vibe in my brain before i course corrected back. that's not a bad thing, again, but basically it was kind of a half-ironic idea, just because they had a few scenes that made me go 👀 (the 'when and if' conversation at the bonfire, the conversation outside the cabin ('i ask so much of you, of all of you' 'yes. but you give more'), the conversation at the telescope ('please. i know there's more.' '...we'll stay until we spot him') etc.) and also i noticed that the tent they camped in by the telescope was fuckin tiny and i was like "oh they were DEFINITELY cuddling. spooning perhaps. platonically or otherwise it for SURE happened that tent is tiny and neither of them are. ESPECIALLY not milligan. come now."

and not that there needs to be a ship, but like, most of the adults it would feel weird to ship (even if number two and rhonda aren't canonically confirmed as sisters or mr. benedict's daughters, it would feel very gross to ship any of those three together because it just feels weird) and as cute as kate and martina are, shipping kids like. more than just sort of super pg 'they'd be cute together <3' feels weird for me, as an adult. you know? and while i'm fine with no ships, my point being even if were to develop an attachment, options are limited. (rhonda/miss perumal has potential tho and i stand by that statement!)

anyway it was kind of a joke at first, since early on, obviously there was less show canon to work with so book canon shaped a lot of how i and generally the fandom viewed the characters (not that it still doesnt but now we have plenty to work with within the show. when season one was still coming out there was less, obviously.) so like. it's kind of funny bc obviously in the books mr. benedict is like a seventy year old grandpa and milligan is still a like, middle aged dad. technically i mean consenting adults but also what the fuck. obviously im over that by now but it did add a certain comedic dissonance to it.

but the more i thought about it, the more i thought about it seriously. until i started being like "wait. wait. wait oh no. wait i might--" and then i was like "STOP LAUGHING GIRL HELP IM SHIPPING IT FOR REAL" and then i was like "okay i ship it unironically now but it's just me and one (1) other person so i'm not gonna bring it up a lot and mostly just keep it to us" and then somehow along the way i lost whatever shame i had and dragged the entire active part of the fandom down with me into the canoe. it's still a small fandom and still basically just me and august writing any content for it, for the most part, but considering i've got most of the fandom to come around i'd call that a win. somehow. insane. not that i'm single handedly responsible but like. while i don't think i was the only one to watch it and think 'oh they have chemistry' i was, as far as i can tell, the first to write anything for/about it or talk about it openly? you know? yeah. anyway

the point is, the more i thought about it the more i was like.....hm. actually,

and now im here. captain of the nicholas/milligan ship. oops

as for the etc., here are some random headcanons:

mr benedict.... little spoon. However! not always.

that being said my reasoning is as follows: not bc milligan Big although also true. bc milligan is very much like. a Protector and feeling like. like someone feels safe with him, feels safer in his arms than alone, rather than in any way afraid of him or intimidated? particularly in such a physical way? is just like. it's nice. that his intimidating stature can equate to safety and protection and warmth and comfort rather than scary and danger and intimidation and violence. someone putting their back to him and being vulnerable and relaxing because of it? wow. conversely, nicholas very much needs a hug at all times have you met the man?? and letting himself have that, being okay with being the comforted instead of the comforter, is something that could just be. like. so good. so i think it would be really nice for both of them. that being sad that doesnt mean they could/would never switch because it's not like you're assigned little or big spoon at birth and you can never switch or change your mind. come on now. also milligan deserves to be little spoon too sometimes <33 and mr benedict? good big spoon. very good.

that first year they ended up picking a birthday for milligan. possibly he chose the day he woke up, or even better/sadder, the day he came to the house for the first time. they celebrate it every year, and the first time, nicholas may or may not have gone out and gotten like ten different slices of cake in different flavors in an attempt to find his favorite. turns out he's partial to red velvet and is not a fan of chocolate. milligan wants to return the favor (not the cakes thing, just the general like. making it feel like. special?) but mr benedict is weirdly evasive about his birthday and clearly not comfortable talking about it, so instead he picks some other holiday to make a special effort for. christmas is the logical option but also the idea of milligan going super hard on halloween to cheer nicholas up is utterly delightful.

stargazing. easy to do from the roof (if they dare 😩) or the garden, perhaps. very nice. lots of opportunities to infodump. not to project my Romance Fantasies but like, nicholas likes to like, basically infodump a bunch of information (bc honestly is there a better nd way of showing love than sharing information you care about with people you care about? bc it makes you happy and you want to share things that matter to you and bc you hope it's interesting and will make them smile?) and like, milligan genuinely likes to listen? like it's not a burden or something to put up with for someone he loves, he genuinely thinks it's interesting (and he's--he's cute all lit up and excited and explaining!!!) and enjoys listening and nicholas is like oh, i've been talking your ear off, i'm sorry, i tend to go on too long, it's alright if you need to tell me to stop, and milligan just like. says no, i enjoy listening. and eventually maybe he says it enough nicholas believes it, you know?

that being said it goes both ways, albeit less often, as milligan tends to be on the quieter side. but when it is about something he cares about or knows a lot about, nicholas is just as happy to listen.

and either way, whoever's talking, it ends up evolving into a spirited conversation as they ask questions or make their own connections and it's just great

(again i must say this isn't exclusively between them, the whole found family vibes with this kind of thing, but sometimes--i mean. sometimes it is just them, under the stars, and you know, i just. i'm picturing like.

nicholas is so bright and excited explaining something about constellations or observatories or pulley systems or classic literature or whatever it is, waving his hands, going off on tangents then trying to course correct back again, and milligan--he is listening, and he certainly doesn't want to miss any of it, but he can't help but also think i want to kiss him. because he's just. beautiful, passionate, and milligan loves him.

and he waits for a pause in the flow of information, where normally he might ask a question, and he does. because he can. and nicholas is kind of like. quietly pleased, what was that for? he asks a little playfully, and milligan just says, simply, like it's obvious, something like because you're you, or because i love how passionate you are, or even just because i wanted to, and nicholas smiles, and then milligan asks a question because goddamn it he was listening and nicholas lights up and off the conversation goes again)

also nicholas just loves doing so many like. little things? i feel like love languages are kind of bullshit because everyone is a mix, even if they favor certain things more than others, but with nicholas i feel like. the way to get through to him is generally touch, physical affection, although like. obviously the others (particularly quality time, and also maybe words of affirmation) help. but the way he shows it is in little things, being thoughtful in little ways. (also quality time. but. as i said. love languages are really not clear cut i think.) like sometimes that's gifts, or words right when they're needed, but he's good at reading what other people need. so like. little ways of being supportive, little gifts given not too directly so much as left, like he doesn't want to take credit, even when everyone knows it was him. with milligan that could be a lot of things--making sure that dinner is a favorite food of his when he seems down, leaving little gifts or trinkets for him or finding a way to sort of just. casually give them to him, because he didn't have anything when he came here and he deserved more than an empty room, he deserved a home, and even if he couldn't give him his memories he could damn well make better new ones, and like. whether it's little material things that are his (his, because he has things that are his now, that belong to him and him alone, not just the dirty uniform he showed up in that had never felt like his anyway) or thoughtful gestures or even, later, when they're in a relationship, things like flowers (probably carefully chosen both for their colors and meanings) and what have you, and just like. he loves doing nice things for milligan okay, more than any grand gestures, just. little things to make his day better, his life better

anyway this is insanely long so im gonna stop now. my point is: nicholas/milligan good<3

okay, soph, first of all i apologize for this ABSOLUTE DISSERTATION that i will be writing in ur inbox, but i must express this.

i have to let you know your impact with auggie. okay. so. look. one of my favorite songs of literally all time is god's country by ethel cain, (may or may not be the title source for a certain joby taylor fic but shhhh) but NOOOWWW every time i listen to it i cannot HELP but think about, eddie and y/n's dynamic while raising auggie.

okay, yeah, hear me out: so my interpretation of said song is that it is essentially about a couple who's been born into a bad situation, and just like, all of the odds are against them. you know, bad childhood, they dont have much money. (much like, eddie and y/n living in Gotham, we know eddie had a bad childhood, we can assume they dont have the most disposable income) but like despite all of this, the couple is still optimistic, and lets their love prevail, and basically they fight to survive despite it all. (which is quite clear in ur writing, eddie and y/n are madly in love with each other and rarely do they let their dismal situation get in betwewn their love for each other and auggie)

anyways, in regards to lyricism, what really makes me think about this whole auggieverse situation is these lines:

"When you’re old you’ll understand But we’re hurting now so what are we to do 'til then? Cradling pictures of you" OKAY like this lyric specifically makes me think of when eddie goes off to prison and like reader is trying to explain things to auggie. like, she's kind of skirting around the subject, ya know.... just telling auggie like, "i'll tell you everything when you're older" bc obviously she's not going to tell a 5 y/o that his dad is a murderer. and in regards to the "cradling pictures of you", like reader looking back through pictures of old memories while eddie is gone.

"Our kids will grow up with half as much Trying to build something out of dust Finding out too late what they need" okay, this part reminds me of like, you know, eddie and y/n being young, unmarried parents, and again, i assume, not the most financially well-off. so, kind of just them having to come to terms with they aren't going to be able to SPOIL SPOIL their child, and theyre just trying their best to make ends meet and give august the happiest life they possibly can in their situation. which again is hard in gotham bc resources are already limited there, so he's already not going to have the easiest childhood. (but obviously eddie and y/n do EVERYTHING for auggie, and spoil him as much as they possibly can)

AND OKAY ALMOST OVER

but there's a part right before the climax of the song where ethel repeats over and over "don't sink in me with your dog teeth" and this part totally makes me think about y/n finding out eddie is the riddler, and even if she already knows, like physically seeing the results of his crimes on the news, and seeing him at arkham and probably has her a little scared. i mean no matter how much you love someone, knowing they have it in them to brutally kill is going to probably make you feel something. and even for a split moment, i can assume y/n is a little scared of her seemingly sweet eddie's capabilities for violence. and i presume, ESPECIALLY when they argue at arkham, she might worry he could turn that anger onto her, hence don't sink in me with your dog teeth.

okay, yeah, that is my thesis paper apparently sdsdcscsdsdcssds. i just wanted you to know that now i think of auggie every time i listen to one of my favorite songs, OMFG UR IMPACT

Preservance — Chapter 1

The weather’s horrible today. Even though it’s just barely six in the morning, the sun’s already piercing through my hoodie. Kinda makes me wish I didn’t wear one at all. Didn’t pay all that money not to show this off, though.

“███! I’ll be back late again, ███” I’m already halfway out of the house when my mom calls out. “Do you want to stay at your cousin’s house until I come back?”

I grimace back at her. “She’s gonna keep trying to make me model for her.”

“It wouldn’t hurt for you to go along with it… It’s just for her project, isn’t it?” My mom sighs. “What if you ask her for help in college and she won’t do it because she doesn’t want to?”

“Why am I gonna ask her for help?”

She sighs again. “I’ll leave dinner money on the table. Please try not to use it all.”

“‘Kay.” I adjust the backpack on my back. “See you tomorrow, mom.”

“I said I’ll be back late, not tomorrow!”

I walk off, ignoring my mom’s groans. It’s true, anyway— at this point, it’s weirder to even have her nagging me off as I leave. Really makes skipping class harder than usual.

Out of habit, I flick my phone open while I walk out of my subdivision. It immediately starts buzzing with the beeps that come from my friend’s dumb text messages.

at least show up today?

i cant pick you as a groupmate if you dont show up

A car beeps past me as I nearly walk into traffic. Jeez. One second later and I’d be in another world. I swerve back closer to the sidewalk.

Me - 6:07

Talk later almost got run over

Cinnabar - 6:07

LOOK AT THE ROAD

are you sixteen or six?????

fine ill call you

Me - 6:07

It takes a few minutes before my phone buzzes back to life. The bus stop’s only a few steps away by this point. I quickly pay the fare before stealing the back seat.

I throw my backpack on the empty spot and lie against the window. It’s only then I actually answer Cinnabar’s call.

“—ello? Hello— ███, why did you take so long to answer?” An exasperated voice on the other side demands. “I even told you I was going to call!”

I grin behind the receiver. “Not everyone takes a car, y’know. Some of us have to pay our way to school.”

“You can just say you were boarding the bus— Wait. Are you even planning to attend?”

“Dunno. You just need me to show up for Math, right?”

“And the rest of the day, too!” She huffs. “I’m serious. You really might end up repeating the year.”

“S’fine. I won’t. I’ve got three more days before that happens.”

“That’s even worse. We’re only halfway through September!”

“Oh. That’s why you were talking ‘bout groupmates?”

“I can’t believe you didn’t realize it was project week…” Cinnabar groans. “Come on. What do you do when you skip, anyways?”

“I—”

Someone clears their throat. I look up with a frown. Some tall, foreign looking guy’s standing in the aisle between chairs. The black sun hat on their head makes ‘em stand out even more.

“Pardon me, child. Is anyone sitting here?” They point to the seat beside me.

“Um. No, sorry.” I quickly move my backpack over, settling it beside my legs. “You can go.”

“Much obliged.” They smile at me before taking their seat. They take their hat off, setting it on their lap. It’s big enough that it hits me.

“███? What’s wrong?”

“Left my bag on the seat ‘sides me. Someone wanted to know if they could sit.”

“You should really put something there after everyone’s boarded…”

“But I got a better chance at getting two seats for myself, yeah?”

“You’re unbelievable.”

“Nah, I’m plenty believable. ‘m not a cryptid or anything.”

“You could be, with how little anyone gets to see you. Even I barely get to see you!”

“Well—”

I’m cut off by the sound of something clattering to the floor. The stranger besides me leans down and picks something up. They turn it around between their fingers with a weird look. Can’t describe it, except that it reminds me of that time I burnt rice in front of my mom.

“Quin B. Lautillio,” the stranger says. “Is that you?”

I grip my phone a little harder than I need to. “Who’re you talking to?”

They smile. “You, of course. Is this your name, child?”

“No.” I lie as I grit my teeth. It is; it’s the one name I’m actually proud of. But it isn’t a name anyone should know— especially not a stranger I met five minutes ago.

“What’s going on, ███?”

“Later,” I tell her. I put my phone down, leaving the call on. Dunno if I need someone to dial one one seven or something. “Why d’you wanna know, anyway?”

“Ah. I apologize, child.” Their smile sticks to their face like glue. “I simply found a pin with your name attached, so I assumed—”

“My name’s ███, ‘kay?” My words come out more snappy than I want ‘em to be. “You got a problem with it or something?”

The stranger raises their hands peacefully. “Please, calm down. I only wanted to know if this pin was yours.”

“...Right. Sorry.” I clench my fists. This conversation would be a lot easier if I just ended that call. It’d also be a whole lot scarier too, since this person apparently knows my name. The whole thing feels way more safer knowing someone’s listening in. Y’know, to report my murder.

“It’s alright, child. Why don’t I call you child for now?” They fold their hands together. “That aside, I do believe you’d want to keep this. The design’s lovely, you see. It’d be a shame for it to have no owner.”

They place a pin on top of my closed fist. I frown. The design isn’t that impressive. Looks kinda weird, actually. It’s like someone made an arch around a drawing of a star. This supposed to be modern art or something?

The whole thing’s practically a horror story if you ask me. A stranger dressed in all black giving me something with my real name… next thing you know, this bus is gonna drive me straight into hell.

I tuck the pin away in my pockets anyway. It’d be a waste to throw it. Totally gonna dunk it in water or something first, though. There’s probably a tracking device in it.

“Thanks, I guess?” I pick my phone back up, ready to continue my daily dose of getting nagged. “So… we good?”

“Ah. There’s one more thing, I’m afraid.”

“Yeah?” I tuck my phone under my jacket pocket, fingers one tap away from calling the police. Maybe it’d still pull through, even if I’m still calling someone. “What is it?”

Somehow, their smile grows sad. “This may tingle a little.”

“What—”

My pocket starts buzzing. I frown and pick up my phone, but there’s nothing. No new notifications, no new calls, no new messages…

“Are you still there, ███?” Cinnabar’s voice asks softly. “I’ll hang up.”

I instinctively reach to turn the call into speaker mode. “Wait, hold up. There’s something going on. I need you to—”

That’s when I realize how damn good of a liar that stranger is.

The next second, that buzzing turns to static. And by static, I mean electricity. A surge runs through my body, lighting me up like a Christmas tree.

My phone thuds to the ground with a crack.

“███?! What’s happening? Why are you yelling?”

“Hold on,” I hear the stranger say faintly. “That… is not what should be happening. Letina? Letina, what should we—”

Voices are starting to surround us. Muffled, loud, panicked, worried, angry…

None of it’s helping the fact that it feelings like my insides are being used like a fucking battery.

“You…” I grit my teeth, arm reaching out for that ass’ hat—

[Be thankful, cenn.] Words begin to form from thin air in front of me. [I could have made your last moments worse.]

It’s the last thing I see before I feel something choke the lights outta me.
