Just finished survivors base game ending and wow. That shit felt like an spiritual experience
I think its really interesting that all sentient creatures in rainworld desire death, while irl human's biggest challenge is avoiding death.

Meet the Remnant, my "slugcat" oc. Because I have no sense of moderation, it has an entire campaign loosely mocked up in my head- I don't have the modding ability or time to make anything of it but I enjoy thinking about it! The two iterators on the sheet are the central npcs of the campaign.
Remnant is larger, more aquatic, and faster on all fours than a slugcat. It struggles to use the same tools, carries items in its mouth, and can eat batnip and bubble weed. And, though it doesn’t know it, it is one of the last four of its kind left.
More about the campaign below VVV
BONUS: Remnant obviously resembles a slugcat, and they are sort of a slugcat ancestor! The genomes of the pipe slugs slugcats evolved from had remnant DNA as well as the simple tool-worm base that ancients used for many creatures. The blueprints were present in the modified organisms, and over several generations and mutations began to express themselves once more. Anyway…
To start, the Remnant is living with their family in an idyllic natural landscape much like survivor and monk at the beginning of their campaigns. The incident kickstarting their journey would be them wandering off from their kin and- gameplay starts here- getting lured off by something interesting, before the wall closes quickly behind them and the player realizes they have been trapped. They find themselves in a crate lined with wet plant matter, which gets shaken and turned around for a bit before settling down. It continues with a gentler rattling and remnant is clearly being taken somewhere, but the game acts like you're in a den and, once you've eaten the food set out for you in there, you sleep.
You are woken when the train carrying you crashes. You are able to escape and wind up in a light drizzle. Numerous overseers, some purple and others seafoam green, follow you around. The artificial, dilapidated surroundings are alien to the remnant.
During the first cycle an overseer will direct you to the nearest den, but you don’t have a rain timer until the first time you hibernate. You’ve never experienced rain like this before, after all.
The fact is that the remnant and their family are primal fauna, from the old world before bioengineering and iterators. They have spent their whole lives in a carefully controlled environment, maintained at first by ancients and then the systems the ancients left behind. The mass ascension happened, and nobody really knew what to do with these creatures- depending on the species, animals in captivity were generally released to fend for themselves or set for years of being maintained by machines scheduled in advanced, automated to care for them.
Remnant is taken when the iterator Ink Stained Palms orders a specimen of one relatively hardy species to study and potentially have the rest delivered to their regions. Something goes wrong- their delivery is sabotaged by their semi-active former senior, Calls To Stony Skies. And out Remnant goes into an alien land, with each of the two rival iterators trying to lure or force it to go to them.
This generally takes the form of projections like Iggy uses to get the slugcats to Moon, though it’s two different kinds of overseer guiding you in opposite directions at the same time. There may also be introduced environmental hazards- some of the chases in Little Nightmares come to mind- to corral you toward wherever the iterator causing it wants you to go.
ISP was the one who was getting the remnant delivered to her facility. They’re a bioengineer interested in long-term ecosystem restoration. It’s come to believe there’s a natural ‘balance’ to the world that could, in time, let living things leave the cycle of their own accord if it was realigned properly.
CTSS is in a condition not unlike spearmaster moon, though his decline has been steadier and over a longer period of time. They’ve been replaced by another iterator as group senior, and derailed your journey in the hopes of using a rare animal as collateral to get ISP’s help. Watching the remnant’s struggle to survive, however, he ends up very attached to it and can’t bring himself to kill it as he originally planned to.
Though they might want to, CTSS can’t save the remnant from a more insidious fate. The air, the soil, the water itself is toxic to you, whose kind has lived countless generations shielded from the heavy metal byproducts of industry and the artificial metabolisms of those great boxes in the sky. Ascension is an option, but so is going to ISP, whose body itself possesses a complex with artificial environments much like the one you began in. It can’t protect the remnant fully, but it can offer them a longer life. There are multiple endings to the campaign, based on the order you visit the iterators in.
If you read all this thank you so much and feel free to send questions!! About my little guys.

- INTRODUCTION + INFO
Tumblr media
'eeello? heeeeeeeellllllloooo? hee-- OH oh. Forgot this works flawlessly. Whoops!
Well, thought it'd be about time to do some sort of- introduction? Something like that anyway!
Think of it likeee a preview message before establishing proper connection.
Tumblr media
I'm Infinite Possibilities; Creation Unending. Infinite Possibilities for short (snrk) and Creativity for shorter!
Iiiii dabble in a little bit of everything- some of you might've received pearls or files from me? Yeah
But I'm primarily known for painting and making games!
Uh. Contacts are open to anyone! I'm trying to keep this short, haha.
One of my siblings has one of these connections too! You should go bother him on my behalf
============================================
OOC from here on out- as you can probably gleam, this is an Iterator oc askblog! This post took an unreasonably long time to make, and I apologize for that!
This account is run by me, Zoc @softcryz! OOC posts will be tagged as such!
Here's some important things to note-- I'll definitely add more as we go on. If you have any questions regarding rules or the blog in general, feel free to ask me on my main account!
This blog takes place post-ascension! ( Unless stated otherwise ;] )
Any interactions are open, but that does not guarantee that I WILL answer your ask. I have every right to not respond/delete things that I am not comfortable with or just simply do not want to follow through with.
^ That said, please try not to be weird about it. I mean via sending nsfw and the like. Kind of obvious but I'm still putting this here.
#ip;cu_talks // #wawa_talks -- posts where they're talking
#ip;cu_asks // #wawa_asks -- asks directed to either of those two
#LANDS_EDGE -- Local group tag!
#friend_tower -- Posts that include people IP;CU knows :]
#art_pipebomb -- Fanart and the like!!
If you have any questions regarding the blog feel free to send them to my main account :]
I'll add onto this as I think of more stuff, but until then! Character notes time!

INFINITE POSSIBILITIES; CREATION UNENDING
Gender apathetic - Pansexual [He/him] [ TOYHOUSE ] [ ARTFIGHT ]
Creativity is the second guy in the Lands Edge group! He was built to process MUCH more and MUCH faster than the standard Iterator-- to the point where no real "limiter" could be put on his systems because his processing just kept. Tanking and breaking it.
The infinite thinking and everything that comes with it is not entirely within his control, though. It isn't something he can shut down or slow down.
Due to his constantly-working brain and need for stimulation, he sorta just... Does a whole bunch of stuff! Just to do it! He's taken a specific interest in programming "games" for other iterators, and is very open to suggestions!
City was somewhat known for being a sort of centre of many different types of art. (He's more well-known for being the game developer guy-- and the weird iterator who keeps sending paint deliveries out to random people)
BIG guy. He's like. Two heads taller than the average Iterator. Height chart coming soon
Tumblr media
WAWA
She/her dominant (any pronouns) [ TOYHOUSE ] [ ARTFIGHT ]
wawa.
runs on cartoon logic
a little smaller than a slugpup
insane dodging capabilities. She's also an obligate carnivore
Where's the slug in this slugcat. This is just a beast of some sort
?? JUST APPEARS? She will just teleport in your chamber. say her name and she'll appear
she also paints with Creativity :]

crying begging sobbing on my knees for more info on da modcats in your main AU
also what are the other lizards munker takes care of
reminds me, im not sure if the modcat owners are chill with me still continuing to portray their slugcats considering... what happened. (but believe me that i would never fucking do weird stuff to em since i see them practically as other peoples' ocs- this includes shipping them)
but if they do have problems with it, they oughta tell me. id respect their decisions either way. i dont want to further discomfort them. (i also dont want to bring it up to them myself if its okay to still use them. honestly i dont think anyone here wishes to talk about that and its just awkward idk?)
anyway- ill make several of em brief.
dronemaster - created by an iterator? sent to study the new age of civilization and possibly destroy it, but could not. befriends sporecat
sporecat - a gardener and rain deer rider, they help gourmand with agricultural impacts.
beecat - takes care of pups in orphanage. teaches them too. goes on expeditions sometimes to discover certain trees.
wanderer - suns' first slugcat creation. after realizing they delivered a bad pearl to pebbles, they hid away from society in shame until spearmaster discovered their existence and helped them come out of the shadows.
martyr - an echocat who constantly bothers saint after discovering that they're both stuck in the strangest form of a cycle. often torments them but also cares for them.
lancers - orphan siblings who look out for each other. bear some striking resemblance to monk, survivor and hunter but is purely coincidental.
friend and poacher - also siblings who look after each other. have contrasting personalities. friend befriends lizards and poacher kills them. cue the shenanigans. friends of monk.
noircat - friend's love interest but very casual about the relationship. would later befriend survivor.
wingcat - a messenger of sorts who came from a faraway place. decided to hang around seeing a civilization develop. friends with vinci and other prankster cats. attracted to batcat.
batcat - a loner type. appears in the shadows. if edge is a word i can use, i shall, but its up to faeling lol. is friends with wingcat and is attracted to em.
vinci - one of the prankster types who hates pebbles and draws graffiti often on their can.
nomad - a gliding slugcat from a faraway land who has streetsmarts but isnt so smart. feeling ashamed for letting their old village burn, they walk alone- but befriends another slugcat named Arbiter, who accompanies them.
arbiter - nomad's close friend. the creation of an iterator who is long passed. initially wanted to stay their shambled place, but decided to leave and really explore the world with their bestie nomad. is the actual streetsmart and smart, but appears quite menacing and shady.
pearlcat - a strange slugcat from faraway, arriving in a mysterious working train. alongside her is her pup named junior. she wields the power of pearls and would later befriend artificer. she would share the knowledge she has to gourmand.
aaaand a bunch more.
again if you are the owner of a modcat, and you are not comfortable with me depicting them, please absolutely let me know!
also monk takes care a LOT of lizards of varying types and colors.

we're starting controversy in the rain world fandom? SIGN ME UP! /j
Even if you don't read my extra notes please know that none of this is that serious, my least favorites/"dislikes" are really light LMAO Also sorry if some things are hard to read I'm not 100% used to this brush yet <3
Anyways notes + meme blank below LET'S GOOO
SLUGCAT EDITION!!!
*Liked by everyone but me (and Least Favorite) is Saint because I just have such a hard time coming up with headcanons and designs that I like & find interesting for Saint. It feels like they're everyone's favorite thought experiment (/hj) but for me like. Idk. It's probably also that in a way they feel like they have the most concrete & "stuck" storyline
I used to think Surv was so boring I could NOT come up with shit all for them or for monk, didn't help that none of the fan content was of them (quite a bit of "surv" fanart is just using them as a generic slugcat imo)
*Like the character, not the design is Riv and Hunter to me but specifically the canon designs and trying to translate them into my art, Riv's gills end up looking like clown hair and Hunter's pink gives me the ick to work with for fur. But I love to make Hunter fluffy anyways
Blackcurrant (Gourspearnot) SUPREMACY!
No hate to artimonk or monksaint shippers but these ships out of any non-problematic ship. Kind of give me the ick
ITERATOR EDITION!!!
SRS is fine and it usually depends on individual interpretations of them but I have a mild distaste for SRS overall, I think they're a good character & well written though
SOS is more of a plot device than a character to me and I don't find her all that interesting, I do like individual fanon versions of her though
Purple moon = good, purple moon in-game has like. A shade of purple I dislike + a blue that's SO CLOSE in value to it. Oh my god.
LILYPAD SUPREMACY
Ragequit depends mostly on interpretation but it could never work in my canon/interpretation, I'm just uncomfortable with my NSH and my FP dating
Tumblr media
And here's the blank for you other rainheads

I HAVE FIGURED IT OUT.
Time to rant about the timeline I’ve come up with for my little unfinished AU.
And I REALLY wanna rant because I have SO many ideas!!!
Ideas below the cut.
So.
We start off at Moon’s collapse. Spearmaster is on their way back to SRS, when they hear something behind them, and look back to see LTTM collapsing.
EXCEPT. Her west legs give out first, causing her structure to fall INTO FP’s, knocking his over like a domino in a chain. Spearmaster rushes back to SRS as fast as possible.
By the point in the timeline Artificer is supposed to arrive, FP’s facility grounds have already frozen over, and all the dangerous creatures from Saint’s campaign come out to play. (On the plus side, the Rot doesn’t survive the newfound winter, freezing to death)
Speaking of Artificer, in this timeline, since FP’s facility grounds are frozen over, SRS sends out Spearmaster again to try and scout out how bad the damage is- Except SRS knows that Spearmaster is built to handle deadly wildlife, NOT the freezing cold. SO, he creates a sibling for Spearmaster. One that can turn their needles into explosive weapons in an emergency situation, who can light fires with explosive blasts from holes in her tail.
In this timeline, Artificer is created by SRS- As Spearmaster’s ‘sibling’. Due to some kind of mess-up with her DNA, her left eye and left leg burst in a fiery blast while she is developing, meaning her eye gets bandaged up and she gets a prosthetic leg.
Meanwhile, as NSH’s structure, NSH is no longer on a time crunch since he knows that FP’s facility grounds will be unlocked since he’s collapsed, so Hunter doesn’t have to worry about the Rot.
(EDIT) OKAY completely forgot about the Rot powers I decided to give Hunter so I need to redo Hunter’s section. So. NSH is on a time crunch still because he’s worried about how long until FP’s and LTTM’s systems have until they cannot be turned back on. SO. Hunter still has to deal with the Rot BUT as explained he eventually fuses with it and it becomes a superpower, blah blah blah. Anyways, he’s coming in from NSH’s facility from the northwest.
…Unfortunately, And on top of that, NSH uses DNA from a short-haired breed of Slugcat, forgetting about how FP’s facility will be frozen over. Whoops.
While passing through Outer Expanse, Spearmaster and Artificer encounter a worried duo of older Slugpups, Survivor and Monk, who have set out to try and find Gourmand, who was in the Facility Grounds during the collapse. Artificer and Spearmaster promise to find Gourmand and send him back home, and tell Survivor and Monk to stay here where it’s safe.
Survivor ignores them and follows, and Monk reluctantly sticks by Survivor’s side. Monk was born with type-two diabetes in this timeline, because why the hell not.
Gourmand, barely surviving the collapse in Shaded Citadel, scavenges for Slime Mould to satisfy their hunger in the cold, as they slowly start making their way up through the ruins, to freedom.
Rivulet, in the meantime, swims in from the east, getting lost and separated from her family. She wanders around until she eventually finds shelter from the cold in LTTM’s unmoving arms, for now.
(EDIT3) SCRATCH THAT SCRATCH THAT BETTER IDEA. So. In this AU, Rivulet is genetically engineered by Moon instead, as a sort of last resort, to deliver pearls containing her begs and pleads to Pebbles. When Spearmaster leaves and Moon knows she’s about to collapse, that is when Rivulet returns to Moon and just… stays with her, until she collapses. When she does collapse, Rivulet gets swept up in the glitchy, failing anti-gravity, and freefalls westward until she falls into Garbage Wastes, where on impact with the water she is concussed and given amnesia.
Saint comes in from the north and begins wandering the cold wastes, searching for what remains of Pebbles and Moon in the collapsed structures.
And Enot? Honestly, I don’t have any ideas on how Enot shows up, but honestly popping into existence to just be there and be silly is kinda in character for them anyways.
Speaking of Enot, one of their eggs hatches, and creates Nightcat, and Enot begins to raise Nightcat as their own, and by the time Survivor, Monk, Spearmaster, and Artificer enter, Nightcat is slightly grown up, around Survivor’s age.
With Artificer, Spearmaster, Survivor, and Monk approaching from the west, Rivulet in the far east, Enot, Nightcat, and Gourmand in Shaded Citadel, Hunter heading to the facility grounds from the northwest, and Saint heading in from the north, the pieces are in place for everyone to meet up in this new timeline…
Which is still unnamed! Reblog or comment with name ideas please :)
(EDIT2) Oh. About Arti’s kids, I imagine she adopts them when she encounters them while travelling through the ruins of Shaded or something and adopts them.

started drawing scugs in a sketchbook page and this happened instead oops
*pats top of slugcat* this animal can fit so much weird in it
(transcript and some corrections under the cut because there's a lot going on in this one and my handwriting is tiny lol)
[Image description/transcript: a bunch of slugcat biology doodling. Individual doodles/groups of doodles, clockwise from top left:
A slugcat with some visible internal organs sketched out and labeled - a heart and lungs, breathing holes at the sides of the neck (with the note: "wawas come from here!"), centrally placed vocal cords, beak "teeth", a pre-stomach pouch in the neck area, and intestines down in the lower torso and tail. The slugcat's eyes and a pair of small feelers above them are labeled: "both eyes!". A note above its head reads "feelers not 100% consistent in shape?"
A slightly clearer sketch of the possible lungs: there are two breathing holes, branching, and the vocal chords are located in the middle where they meet. The airways have internal closures to help keep out water and foreign material. A note reads "internal closure points [analogous to] glottis?", because I forgot the glottis was part of the vocal folds when I drew this.
Several drawings of possible beak and tooth arrangements, and a slugcat eating a fruit, touching the food with its sluggy mouth-feelers, with the note: "no tongue - feelers taste instead."
Closeup drawing of three eye variants. The first is all dark, pupil barely distinct from iris and sclera, labeled "normal". Second has lighter iris, labeled "rivulet". Third has white iris/sclera and light pupil, labeled "sm/hunter? (albinistic)". (I mean to write Artificer instead of Hunter. Whoops.)
Written notes: round pupils - poor night vision. Ancestors evolved to navigate more by smell/touch/etc before rain cycle forced other sensory focus (washes away scents).
Several doodles of possible slugcat ancestors. Most have shorter front limbs, longer feelers, and smaller eyes. Written notes: "early purposed ancestors - or primordial? arms shorter pre-bipedalism. probably related to lantern mice"
A slugpup, labeled "a little slupplet", and a tiny bean-like slugpup with closed eyes and tiny nubby limbs labeled "newborn baby scug".
Two organ cutaway doodles of slugcat tails. One, labeled "SM", has tubes from the stomach and intestines extending to the surface of the tail, one with a spear emerging out of it. The guts area has the note: "small stomach". The other tail, labeled "Arti", has intestines and several sacs connected to the underside of the tail, with the note: "scent/musk glands full of explosive digestive runoff?".
/end description.]
Anyway if you read all that bless you, my brain is full of rain world and it refuses to pay rent lol. I have a big old doc of headcanons and I can't do shit with most of them so I just doodle things apparently. bone appleteeth.

*slaps roof of comic* this bad boy has jokes (explanations under the cut)
okay so. this part is here because the rain world fandom and toki pona fandom have (seemingly) very little overlap, and i want as many people as possible to understand this steaming pile of nonsense. so for this i am going to assume you know nothing about either rain world or toki pona.
on panel 2, spearmaster (the purple one) is trying to participate, but does not have a mouth, so they can only moan unintelligibly.
on panel 3, saint (the green one) says the sitelen pona glyph for "wawa", which in toki pona means something like "strength" or "energy". saint can speak a glyph because they are more powerful than the other slugcats.
on panel 4, rivulet (the blue one) is about to be ascended (aka killed but harder) by saint. in other words, saint is about to commit an act of violence.
yeah thats it
oh also! since you're here, at some point during production i wanted to let this comic fade from my memory so i could review it with fresh eyes, so here's the thing i drew to cover this comic so i didnt accidentally look at it!
Tumblr media
on top is the latin and sitelen pona for "len". its root definition refers to clothing, and other definitions come from aspects of said root definition. definitions such as "cloth", "covering", and "layer of privacy". guess which definition is being used in this context!
on bottom is saint. saint has a long tongue that they use to grapple around. i just think they're neat!
anyways thanks for reading this far, hope you have a good day <3

The Pearl Problem
a new perspective
The Chosen One has waited for a long time for the right opportunity, and finally, All That Beckons makes a fatal mistake. He underestimates how clever a slugcat can be, and certainly doesn't realize how far they will go for revenge. - YAYYYYYY NEW CHAPTER!!! WOOOO (AO3)
Waiting was something that Chosen had become deeply familiar with since their creation.
Eat. Walk around. Hibernate. Repeat. The occasional interruption would come, sure; usually in the form of the removal of the bone embedded in their chest-- occasionally it was allowed to hunt down a stray lizard who had snuck its way inside, and that was thoroughly enjoyable-- but it wasn't what they wanted. They wanted to be free.
And to be free, they had to be patient.
They hated every second that they were here. It felt cold. The incisions kept scabbing over, and they itched, and they hurt, but if they picked at the scars, they'd bleed out what little warmth they had left and be stuck shivering on the floor.
(Unfortunately, they had to discover that the hard way.)
So they conserved their heat the best they could.
They had a vague idea of what was causing it, but they couldn't remove it without being punished. It was better to wait.
They were so sick of waiting.
A light shone in their eyes, and they grumbled, broken from their thoughts as they swatted at the culprit in annoyance, before opening their eyes to see a purple eye (overseers, that was what Beckons called them) staring at them.
(They imagined setting it on fire. They liked imagining this place burning to a crisp.)
The overseer seemed to study them as they got to their feet sluggishly, and they glared at it return.
Well? Get on with it. Stupid thing.
After a moment, it seemed to nod slowly, before projecting a hologram, pointing it to the pipe in the wall.
Okay. Not entirely new, but it usually meant something good was about to happen. A lizard, most of the time-- a way to heat up and get a good meal-- and furthermore, a chance to study this place. A way to find an escape. A chance they'd never give up, not in a thousand years.
Today, however, didn't seem like much of a chance to explore. Inspectors were at their back, herding it into a certain place.
Except... It hadn't seen the place that they were going. They were going somewhere new. The electronic noise around them was growing louder, almost chaotically harmonic. The rooms became larger and larger.
Finally, they emerged into a room filled with holograms and lights, rainbow neurons swirling around nerves and steel rebar. The humming in their ears made their head buzz in a way that oddly wasn't unpleasant. In fact, it was wonderfully noisy compared to the quiet and annoying background whirring of their usual room. It was thrilling; the world around them felt alive rather than being a sterile metal cage, empty and unforgiving.
But they weren't allowed to appreciate it for long. The inspectors were nipping at their feet, and when they hesitated, that familiar cold rushed through their blood, causing them to hiss in annoyance.
They made sure to kick off of the inspector nagging at them extra hard, and smirked as it made an annoyed tone.
They could see where they were being directed, anyway, so as they hurtled towards the pipe, they quickly grabbed onto the rebar, and quickly dove down into the pipe--
Only to clatter to the floor. It hurt worse when they were stiff from the cold. However, the mechanical whirring of some sort of hydraulics distracted them from the pain briefly.
...Oh.
Above them was a metal creature propped up on a robotic arm, wires spilling from its back and head, and all winding into what looked like a long spinal cord, spilling into the floor. It towered over Chosen, looking haughty and like it thought it was better than them.
They already hated it, even before it began to speak.
But when it began to speak, they realized just who it was.
"Hello."
...you.
All That Beckons looked down at The Chosen One, and drew back slightly as they began to snarl.
"I-- please behave. I didn't bring you here with the intention of fighting."
Oh, it was too late for him to negotiate like this. They would rip every single wire from that head of his.
They prepared to lunge at him, and--
Cold.
They collapsed to the ground as they felt their blood turn into ice, and, seemingly unbothered, he just shrugged and sighed.
"I was hoping we could cooperate on this one. That's a shame. Just know that's what happens when you try to threaten me. I'm your creator; it's the least you can do to, you know... Not try to attack me."
He made that happen. He was the one making this happen.
(They already knew that. But what they didn't know was that the source was so, so much smaller than they thought it was.)
All they had to do was destroy the source. They wouldn't let him control them any more.
They looked into his eyes as they dug their claws into the shoulders, and tore into their skin.
They wouldn't let him stop them anymore. They would make sure he would never force them to stay here ever again.

Hello hello! For the little rw questionnaire, how about 7 and/or 17? :]
I'm so sorry this took so long to get around to, but thank you for the questions Ghost! As always, here's the original questionnaire for reference, and here we go!
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
7. What is your favorite song from the soundtrack?
I've already answered this one with "Pictures of the Past" and "The Cycle", so I'd suggest just checking that post out for an explanation of those. But here, I figured I'd go into some other tracks I like! Just a forewarning, I actually haven't listened to the entire soundtrack much outside of when tracks play in-game, so I might have a bit of a limited perspective.
Also, another preface, most of the music I enjoy in general is usually not just because I think it's catchy, but because it's unique sounding in some way, and more importantly because I think it does a really good job of painting a particular image in my head and/or capturing a certain idea. Most of my answers here will have that factored in.
But anyway, first up, when it comes to soundtrack songs I like to listen to in-and-of themselves, "Floes" always comes to my mind first! I just love how it opens with these long, beautiful, melancholy strings before the synth-y beat kicks in. It's just so cool-sounding, and really captures that vibe of stepping into this dark and mysterious, yet once holy and important citadel. I always love hearing it when going across the bridges in Shaded Citadel, and I think it's honestly such a great way to introduce the region when you first travel over the lighter bridge after Shoreline, then enter the darker depths.
Next, threat themes! My favorite of these so far is the Pipeyard theme! It's super catchy, even just the percussion parts on their own, and it definitely captures that feeling of a spear-filled battle with a strange creature in this land of rusted metal. The synth is really what gets me here, because that part alone almost gives the vibe that I'm battling some ancient piece of advanced technology, or some old godlike being that's starting to transcend my comprehension of it. It's such an odd melody, which makes it stand out a lot, so even though the Pipeyard theme isn't thematically that special to me, it's super iconic and fun to listen to!
Then there's the Waterfront Facility threat theme, which comes at a close second for having greater thematic connections while still being catchy! As much as I don't like the region nor its eventual result of Shoreline, ever since I realized the Precipice was the bridge connecting Pebbles to Moon and the big structures in Shoreline were its broken remnants, I've found this region really cool conceptually, and I think its threat theme captures that best! I love how it has the same melody as the Shoreline threat theme, yet has that more bass-heavy, more technological echo to it, which is fitting since it exists when Moon hasn't yet collapsed. It's just really cool in my opinion!
Next is the Chimney Canopy threat theme actually, which is honestly just cool all-around! The arpeggios super catchy of course, and they're unique in how they sound both like something tumbling down from a high place (perhaps rocks slipping as slugcat climbs the smokestacks) and like someone climbing higher and higher into the sky. But honestly, what draws me to this song is the hissing noises in the background, which always remind me of smoke and gas being blown out of machines. It never fails to remind me of how cool Chimney Canopy always seemed to me conceptually — this high-up place right next to Five Pebbles's superstructure, filled with who knows what kinds of smoke and fumes clouding the air. And of course, the hissing gas chambers of vultures soaring above, who are still my favorite creatures in the game! As much as I've grown to dislike traversing Chimney Canopy, I can't deny it's always caught my eye, and its threat theme perfectly captures why!
Finally is the Outer Expanse threat theme, which also reminds me of the region's cool concept! Something I never really noticed until Outer Expanse was the major lack of legitimate/normal trees in the regions. Sure, there's all kinds of flora around, but nothing I'd call a "tree" (except maybe those funky blue plants in Sky Islands). That being said, the presence of trees in Outer Expanse makes me feel it's perhaps the only true "forest" in Rain World, and with the unique wet and sylvan-sounds of its threat theme, it really sells that rainforest vibe well! Sunken Pier is also amazing with the low waves, which really sell the dark, dank, moist, overgrown atmosphere the subregion probably has.
So yeah, for now, "Floes" is my favorite standalone track (besides the ones I mentioned before), and the Pipeyard, Waterfront Facility, and Outer Expanse ones are my favorite of the threat themes! Some honorable mentions also include: "Garbage City Shuffle" for being really catchy and conveying that feeling of slugcats and scavengers starting to form new civilizations from the remains of the old ones, "Lost City" for sounding just like a lament for the dead Metropolis city, "Ascent" for being such a magical intro to the scary, yet beautiful depths of Submerged Superstructure, "Halcyon Memories" for being chill yet packed with so many narrative feels and somehow being really wistful and loving at the same time, and the Sky Islands threat theme for having really iconic radio noises that add to the theme of the region being a center for iterator communications!
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
17. Do you prefer to fight other creatures or sneak past them?
Finally a question I can give a (relatively) short answer for! It really depends on what mood I'm in though.
Generally speaking, now that I've gotten good enough at the game to not die constantly, I actually have like fighting most other creatures, especially vultures, and I find it pretty fun! Though there are still a lot of things I won't mess with as of now: red lizards and red centipedes because of their sheer speed and one-hit-kill attacks, Miros birds because their habitats and tendency to travel in groups makes successfully fighting them pretty much impossible in almost all instances where I encounter them, Miros vultures because besides also appearing in very sub-optimal situations they're just scary and broken (seriously, what genius Ancient thought this bird needed the power to shoot laser-targeted bombs from its mouth???), inspectors because their aim is too good and I don't have very good maneuverability in zero-gravity, scavengers because they have too good aim and are often too numerous so I'm scared of actively making enemies with them, and leviathans because no.
But otherwise, I like stabbing lizards of all shapes, sizes, and colors, will gladly duel a vulture or king vulture anytime, I like stabbing monster kelp and pole plants (especially since they give food as Spearmaster!), will try my best to dispatch centipedes when they're being annoying and blocking paths, and out of general impatience I often find myself resorting to good ol' violence when creatures are just being annoying or inconvenient.
However, if I have slugpups with me, need to transport something and/or travel somewhere specific, or are low on Karma during an expedition, or are otherwise just trying to accomplish something non-violence-related, I try my best to (often very un-sneakily) run past them. And of course, if I've died multiple times in a row and just wanna stop dying for once, I'll avoid fights when I can to get a break.

waves at u... sorry for being the one anon bugging you all the time but i'd love to know more about your rainworld au(s) and anything abt your ocs......
I give you permission to bug me abt my ocs anytime anon i love them but never talk about them ARGH
I have some silly aus with saint because I have so many thoughts about them. One where monk and saint meet up and saint kind of takes them under their wing and becomes a mentor figure, teaching them about their ascension powers and unlocking their attunement to the world so monk can do the same.. but also they're a bad influence because essentially theyre encouraging monk to become an echo in the same way saint did. But monk doesn't really realise and goes along with them anyway
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also have another where I play with my headcanon that saint is actually an ancient who failed ascending, and got reincarnated into a slugcat. I haven't thought a whole lot about it i just mainly wanted to draw saint as an ancient (i have some designs but i haven't settled on one i really like yet) and come up with an explanation of why they're so different from the other slugcats in game. I know it's very much not canon but i like to think that some low karma ancients who tried to ascend instead got reincarnated into lower lifeforms as a sort of punishment.
I also have another oc based off this concept and he became a mole lizard as shown here teehee

I saw that you had a kakapo slugcat and I want you to know that makes me so happy I really like rainworld and kakapos are my favorite bird so now I'm just sitting here. quietly happy. and I think you should know about this. your kakapo slugcat delights me. if you wouldn't mind could you tell me about them?
omg this makes me so happy!! I’m so glad I could bring someone joy with my art, I’ve always wanted to do that, and it just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling thinking about that, thank you for telling me :D
ok so about my kakapo slugcat!!
Really its just my kakapo sona but as a slugcat because I got into rw but I do have a little campaign idea for them! So first off, its abilities! It would be able to glide, kinda like real kakapos, climb up really tall vertical walls and be able to track things with a strong smelling ability, and it would also be able to blend into greener backgrounds when hunted.
It would be also friendly and curious, with a higher reputation among scavengers but other creatures would be more likely to go after it. It would be nocturnal, coming out at night time and be completely vegetarian, with a small amount of food pips needing to be filled. It would be fat like the gourmand but able to run faster because of its strong legs and able to store a large amount of food pips.
Now for what kind of region it lives in! My idea for now, was that it would live in a region based on kauri forests like in nz, with tall trees and other nz based foods that you could eat. There might other regions, like a more mountainous one with snowfall or something.
I would totally mod this if I could but I dunno how to code haha maybe one day though.
that’s all I’ve been able to think of right now, I might have more ideas later, if it’s a bit long and rambling, sorry! It’s just sorta the first time I’ve put these ideas to words so I’m not 100% sure how to word it correctly, anyway hope you like what I have to say on it and also SUPER SORRY FOR TAKING FOREVER I’ve just been distracted and procrastinating but I finally did this so here you go ^_^

First project for college wooooooooo-
Tumblr media
More details under the cut:
I made this for school as a sort of interactive self-portrait. I think I misinterpreted the prompt (even if it was super vague anyway), but honestly, getting to draw all these ocs was worth it.
Here are their names and some bare-bones stuff about them:
Tumblr media
The Orange Cat: Cattington Stamper
A Battleblock Theater oc. He was a stowaway on the ending ship and grew up in the city on the mainland. A nervous wreck with trauma and daddy issues.
The Shiny-ish Furret: Katt Furrocy
A Pokémon Mystery Dungeon oc. She is a writer with psychic powers who basically "documented" the "real world" story of my old PMD series. She is the most normal one here.
Tumblr media
The Blue-Green Slugcat: The Herbalist
A Rain World oc. They were tasked with helping an iterator with an airborne rot. They are semi-aquatic but have breathing problems, hence the mask.
The Purple StoryBot: Raven Reallystressed
A StoryBots oc. She's a transfer from my old computer into my new one, resembling the use of my computer in a scholarly way. She's an introverted jerk who writes fanfiction.
Tumblr media
The Grey Grumpus: Skrunckly "Skunck" Scrincklyscrimblo
A Bugsnax oc. He is the reason I got my footing on Tumblr. This guy is my journalist interpretation: clumsy, indestructible, and probably made of Bugsnax.
The "Watchdog": Iris Lash
A Wonder Over Yonder oc. She is from a different galaxy where "Watchdogs" are called "Seekers and Seers." She is smart, strong, and wants to overthrow the government.
Tumblr media
The Strawberry: Strawbeary
My old OSC objectsona. I have since retired her from that role, but now she is more of a beast who is fairly bloodthirsty.
The Sketchpad: Sketchpad "Sketchy"
My OSC oc. They are the host of a show I'm working on called SPIRIT. Will I ever complete it? Unlikely, but I can try. She is eccentric and friendly but very tone-deaf and oblivious.
Tumblr media
The Purple Dragon Cat: Katelyn Kendelle
An oc. She has been one of my forefront characters for YEARS. Despite all the changes to her character over that time, some things stayed the same: her obnoxious height, her intelligence, and her ability to reset the universe once before death.
The Blue Rodent: Kyt Sycamore
An oc. This is probably one of my most fleshed out characters since I am writing a novel for the guy. He is hot-headed with a lot to prove. No one really respects him, tho :/
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last two are me ✌️✌️.
And the little drawing on the board is Cup, my South Park oc of both Canadian and American descent. An abomination, if you will.
So yeah, enjoy the rambling and come say hi if you wanna talk about any of these with me👍

Saint and Enot au
lore dump
give pls
Just did here!! However have a lil snippet of extra stuff:
“Hey!”
Sig cracked open her eyes to the feeling of Rivulet’s wet paws slapping against his face, and the sound of a new voice, the one that belonged to the strange…slugcat, if you could call it that, that had apparently just saved his life.
“You…you talk.” Sig mumbled, watching the creature roll its eyes.
“Yeah, yeah! Big deal! We have bigger issues right now, okay? Don’t pass out on me again, I need your help.” Enot flicked his glitchy tail as Ruffles helped Sig sit back up.
“What about the others?” Sig asked, drawing his knees to his chest and hugging them, appearing a lot smaller than she usually did.
“Oh, like your girlfriend?” The slugcat’s multicoloured ears perked, sending little pixels through the air. “I’ve been protecting them, chasing down my little buddy and beating the shit out of him if he gets too close.” Enot shrugged, sitting back on his haunches.
“So he’s…trying to kill us?” Sig asked hesitantly. Ruffles’ gills puffed up protectively, and Sig gently patted her head.
“Yeah. Says y’all have ~overstayed your welcome in this cycle~ and ~need to let this realm rest~.” He put on a goofy voice as he mocked Saint, doing air-quotes with his stubby fingers. “Stupid, right?”
“Uh, I guess, I mean, they didn’t even ask or anything.” Sig shrugged, a chill going down her spine as she realized just how close he’d been to death—actual death. The one you don’t come back from.
“Exactly! The dude’s crazy. Anyways, I’ve been chasing them around, but obviously I can’t do that forever. So, I’ve got a two-step plan that should prevent unwanted ascension.” He pressed his paws together and glanced to Sig, who only looked at him with expectant eyes.
“Step one: get off that thing,” He pointed at the broken mechanical arm keeping Sig rooted to the ground, “and step two—“
“I cant…we can’t get off these.” Sig interrupted.
“Not with that attitude you can’t!”
“Trust me! I’ve tried!” Sig gestured in frustration. “And with how deteriorated my systems are now…it’d be basically impossible.” She sighed in defeat, resting her head in her arms. Enot frowned, watching the iterator pout.
“Well maybe ask your girlfriend for ideas or something!” It said, swishing its glitchy tail. “C’mon, use that supercomputer brain, are you gonna waste all your RAM on being mopey? I know you’ve got friends, maybe all of you can figure something out together!” He crossed his arms. Sig’s gaze returned to Inv, and he looked like he was about to snap at him.
“Wawa!” Ruffles stopped her from saying something rude, waving her arms. “Wa! Awa!”
Sig looked confused, before looking back at Inv.
“She said nothing is impossible. If she managed to reactivate your girlfriend, then you and your friends can figure out how to get off your damn strings.”
Sig was silent for a moment, before giving in and pulling up a screen. “And in the meantime?”
“I’ll be keeping the moss with a god complex in check so they can’t hurt you guys while you’re figuring this out.” Enot stood, going to the wall, where a ladder of spears had been constructed to get to the access shaft. However, instead of climbing, his body glitched and he suddenly appeared a couple rungs up, balanced on the spear. “Chop chop, we don’t have infinite cycles!” He sang, once again teleporting higher onto the ladder. “I’ll be back shortly. Say hi to your girlfriend for me!”
