Superman: The Man of Steel #32 (April 1994)
Bizarro's World, Part 4! In which Bizarro's horniness for Lois Lane proves to be his undoing. Superman is taking Bizarro's inert body back to Metropolis for studying (as seen last issue) when a simple glimpse of Lois makes him spring back into life and rush her for a hug.
Tumblr media
After pulling Bizarro away from Lois, Superman loses track of him thanks to his newly "enhanced" powers -- his telescopic vision and super hearing are so powerful that whenever he tries to use them, he just sees everything, everywhere, all at once™. Meanwhile, Bizarro sees a couple reconciling when the guy gives the girl a ring, so he naturally reasons that he can make Lois stop shunning him by giving her the biggest ring he can find. He ends up stealing a giant plastic ring display from a jewelry store and offering it to Lois. She’s flattered by the romantic gesture, but ultimately turns him down.
Tumblr media
Bizarro doesn't take Lois' rejection well and ends up fighting Superman again. During the fight, Superman accidentally punches him through a bridge with his super-super-strength, causing a bunch of cars to fall to their doom. Bizarro actually helps Superman save the cars, but he's so clumsy at being a superhero that he almost crushes some of the drivers to death when he “gently” puts them down. Bizarro doesn't appreciate this long-haired ruffian criticizing his rescue efforts (especially since it was his fault the bridge broke) and of course they end up punching each other once more.
Luckily, the nerds at Project Cadmus have figured out they can trap Bizarro if they can simply get him to stand between two giant pillars producing some sort of energy field. Now they just need a way to lure him there, and pretty soon they manage to find the perfect bait: Lois Lane in a tight outfit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By now, Lois has grown fond of the big doofus and feels bad for using his love for her to trap him -- especially since he appears to be dying, like all the other clones in Metropolis. Before Cadmus can even try to cure him, though, Lex Luthor Jr. shows up with a court document saying Bizarro is LexCorp property and takes him away to continue his experiments (and see if he can use him to cure himself).
Tumblr media
TO BE CONCLUDED!
Plotline-Watch:
Been a while since we’ve seen Lex Jr. in his Lex-Men armor (which he debuted in the Supergirl and Team Luthor special). In this case, the armor is a convenient way to hide the fact that not only is Lex bald again due to the Clone Plague, but he even lost his beloved red beard in the few hours or so since we last saw him in Action #697.
Tumblr media
Speaking of mysterious facial hair, that's supposed to be Cadmus' Director Westfield being served the document by armored Lex up there, but since when does he have a mustache?! Was that supposed to be a different character but the script changed? Is Westfield going incognito because he knows the Underworlders have a hit on him? Either way, I demand a Baldy Award for pointing this out.
And speaking of the Underworlders, Professor Hamilton is able to determine that the Clone Plague is based on “environmental” factors (probably that big flood from a while back) and not Cadmus-created germ warfare by studying his sewer mutant pals. That's pretty much all the same to them, though, since Westfield was the one who flooded their tunnels and presumably got them sick, so it’s all Cadmus’ fault anyway. Lex, too, now blames Westfield for his disease, so all the pieces are in place for a big war in Metropolis. Should have probably kept your mouth shut, Hambone.
Tumblr media
I do like that Hamilton uses his old isolation chamber (from the Bald Jimmy Olsen/Husque storyline) to study the Underworlders.
Another deep cut: this issue features the return of the cabbie with the S-shield logo on his fade cut, first seen in Action $6,50/#650 and then again during “Funeral for a Friend.” The logo is barely visible this time, but it's clearly the same guy... unless that’s just a popular style in Metropolis?
Tumblr media
On the other hand, as a continuity nerd it has always bugged me that Lucy Lane shows up multiple times in this issue and not once does she comment on the fact that the monster harassing her sister looks just like the one who sacrificed himself to restore her vision back when she was blind. Then again... she WAS blind, so maybe she simply never found out what the original Bizarro looked like? Maybe it was Arnold Schwarzenegger or something in her mind.
Patreon-Watch:
Half of this post was first seen last week by our patrons Aaron, Chris “Ace” Hendrix, britneyspearsatemyshorts, Patrick D. Ryall, Bheki Latha, Mark Syp, Ryan Bush, Raphael Fischer, Kit, Sam, and Bol at patreon.com/Superman86to99! Shout out to all of them!
And shout out to the great Don Sparrow, who has lots more to say about this issue after the jump...
Art-Watch (by @donsparrow):
We open with the cover, where Jon Bogdanove makes the Bizarro/Frankenstein connection explicit with a very Frankenstein’s Monster-looking Bizarro, complete with lightning.  I can’t place the exact pose (maybe the scene where he’s chained up?) but it definitely has a Boris Karloff feel, at any rate.
Inside, we’re in for a sketchier issue than some.  As we’ve noted covering these books, Bogdanove can at times be one of the strongest artists on the roster ("Panic in the Sky" and the "Doomsday!" storyline come to mind) but there are times where his looser, cartoony style becomes perhaps excessively broad and fluid.  This is one of the latter, where we get very little in terms of backgrounds throughout, and the figure work seems rushed at times.  I will say, all through the issue, Bizarro looks appropriately deteriorated and pained, giving him a more tragic feel in this installment than the previous chapters, which mined the comedy a little more deliberately.
Tumblr media
Page 5 has a nicely drawn cape, as Superman catches a train car with some effort, it’s a great detail the way the cape twists and folds under his arm.
There’s some quality cartooning on page 14, as the child-like Bizarro adopts the posture of a small child who has messed up, after he dumps a pickup truck on top of a sedan.
Tumblr media
Guardian in flight always looks great, and it’s nice to see the jet-wings from the Doomsday fight used again.  The monster movie reference seems to switch from Frankenstein to King Kong a little later in the story, as on page 16, Lois adopts a Fay Wray pose in order to lure Bizarro to her.  I am unable to resist pointing out how great Lois looks in her insulated suit, so, predictably, I must mention it.
The splash of Bizarro getting jolted by the containment field is frightening, and Bogdanove and Janke do a great job of a familiar pieta pose (which also recalls the way Lois cradled Superman as he was dying in the Doomsday storyline).
Tumblr media
Not much for a “B” storyline here, other than the odd cutaway to Lex Jr. and Happersen—the rest of the story is all devoted to the slugfest, and with all the action, felt like a quick read to me. [Max: That’s Dr. Packard, not Dr. Happersen, Don! Unless he got reconstructive surgery after Bizarro fried his face and ended up looking just like Packard?]
STRAY OBSERVATIONS:
I think this is the second time that a “Konica-Minolta” camera has instead been called a “Mignola” in these pages, no doubt after Mike Mignola (who would absolutely kill a Bizarro story, come to think of it). [Max: Yep, there was another shout out during the “Spilled Blood” storyline. Co-sign on Bizarro Mignola. I’m shocked that’s never happened!]
As we noted in previous issues, they play a little loose with Bizarro’s level of intelligence.  Despite being only a few days old, he seems to  have a comedic understanding of not only spelling, but economics, as he  presents a “vizza” (which we later learn is a crumpled license plate) to pay for the novelty decorative ring from the jewelry store.
Tumblr media
As always, the Simonson and Bogdanove book seems to have the more  ethnically diverse Metropolis, as the S & S Diamond Exchange appears to be run by Orthodox Jews, in a nod, perhaps, to the real-world  diamantaires of New York City’s 47th Street.
Professor Hamilton hanging out with the Underworlders further confuses him with Charlie in my mind, at least at first glance—that’s not a great looking coat Ham is sporting.
Tumblr media
Whenever I see a taxi with a crumpled front, I can’t help but think of the throwaway gag from the early portion of Superman II, when the cabbie smashes into Clark Kent (more or less directly in front of Lois Lane).  I wonder if that’s the reference here?

Superbait
Happy Supercorp Sunday, ya’ll!
6 months post finale, a short and funny scene that brings together Lena and Kara despite Kara stupidly coming out to the world as Supergirl.
Superbait on AO3
With a shatter of glass, Supergirl burst through the window of a dilapidated old factory building, eyes searching for one thing and one thing only. She let out a relieved sigh when she spotted the familiar dark hair across the open space, stuck to the concrete wall between two rusted large beams.
"Lena! I'm here to rescue you!" Supergirl shouted triumphantly as she landed in her quintessential hero pose, flashing a big grin.
Instead of the relieved look Supergirl expected, Lena looked up and frowned with an arched brow. "I told you I could handle myself."
Kara tentatively flew over and tried to ignore the harsh stare pointed at her. Lena was completely plastered to the wall with a white stringy substance, covered from toes to neck. Kara couldn’t see Lena’s arms, but she was sure if Lena was able, they would be crossed in indignation. Even with just her face visible Kara knew she needed to tread lightly.
"Ah, well, I mean it does look like you have everything under control…” Kara glanced at her friend only able to move her head. “Definitely, completely under control, but maybe you could use my help?" Kara ventured with a tentative smile as she carefully approached her friend.
Lena rolled her eyes. "How did you even know to look for me? I didn't hit my watch. I didn’t call for you."
"You didn't show up to taco Tuesday lunch…"
"Kara. I haven’t been in weeks."
"I know. But then you also weren’t at work, and…” Kara shrugged at a loss for words.
Lena still looked at Kara skeptically, so Kara plowed on. “Look, I know your mad that I-" but Kara couldn't finish her thought before she was thrust backwards, a foot away from Lena, attached to the wall with the same white, sticky material.
Kara grunted as she fought against the bonds. "Did you know that was going to happen?!"
Lena, if possible, looked even more annoyed. "Of course not! I didn’t lure you here to get trapped.” Lena shook her head in exasperation. “I didn’t even call you here! Though, maybe, in the future, if you come to rescue me, you could actually start rescuing me before getting captured yourself."
"I was just about to!" Kara huffed and strained against the cocoon. "What is this stuff made out of? I feel like spider prey."
"You're not far off. It's definitely some kind of synthetic webbing." Lena turned towards Supergirl, eyes still hard. "You can't break free?"
"No!"
"Then what exactly was your plan here?" Lena asked innocently.
Kara's lips thinned. Just as her eyes glowed red, figuring her heat vision could take care of whatever this stuff was, three guys, dressed in black sweatsuits ambled into the room.
The smallest one said, "Looks like the Super took the bait," chuckling like he won best new comedian at the laugh factory. His two goon friends joined in laughing as they approached the two trapped friends. "A Super and a Luthor. Boss is going to be so pleased." His deep, gravelly voice sounded like every low level goon Kara had dealt with. She ignored them.
"See Lena! This is what I was talking about!"
Lena scoffed and turned her head back towards Kara, ignoring the trio as well. "This happens all the time. I told you I could take care of myself!"
"They literally used you as bait to get to me!"
Lena shook her head. "I say 'I love you' and you say we can't date because you're worried about my safety."
Kara nodded.
"My safety."
Kara continued to nod.
“Well, we aren’t together and I still got taken!”
Kara’s nod looked less sure.
"I get taken hostage weekly!"
"Oh, it's been way less frequent with Lex gone."
Lena’s eyes narrowed
"Monthly. Monthly at most."
Lena let out an exasperated sigh. "I can't believe I told you how I feel."
Kara’s eyebrows knit together. "Lena, you know how I feel about you. But, I couldn't live with myself if anything happened…"
"We already went through this! When you decided to tell the world who you were, we decided everybody was going to be ok!"
"I know... I know… it's just different with you. If everyone knew how I felt about you... if we were actually dating-"
"Wait, hold on," interrupted goon number two, "you guys aren't dating?"
Goon number one jumped in, "You get tacos every Tuesday?"
"And how many times have you flown away with Lena wrapped in your arms?" Apparently, all of the goons had an opinion about this.
"You guys did that joint interview with Catco last month?"
"Honestly, you sounded like an old married couple arguing right then…"
"And that dreamy look you get whenever you see each other…." The initial goon swooned.
Lena looked pointedly at Kara.
"Ok! Ok! We get it." Kara felt more trapped by this conversation than the webbing.
Goon number two shrugged. "I don't know, if some like beautiful Ms. Luthor here told me she loved me, I think I would have done something about it." The other two shook their heads in agreement.
Kara gritted her teeth, "Yes, well the next time I need relationship advice, I know who to come to…" as Kara trailed off, a sickly green color started to spread through her skin.
The grimace did not escape Lena's notice, no matter how upset she was. "Kara! Are you okay?" Lena asked, concern overtaking hurt feelings.
Kara tried to reassure her, but another jolt of pain seared through her and she was only able to let out a groan.
Lenas head swiveled to their captors. "Is there kryptonite in here?!"
"Ahh?" They stuttered, unsure. Clearly, they were not the brains behind the business.
A tale tell green streak glowed across Kara's skin as Kara let out another strangled groan. Lena closed her eyes in fury, and muttered under her breath "ignis gigas." Immediately, blinding yellow light seemed to blast from Lena's skin as she exploded out of her cocoon. With fire exploding from her hands, she cut out Kara, catching her before she crumpled to the ground.
The captors started to slowly back away as the ring leader muttered, "Uh oh, we made the girlfriend mad…"
"We. Are. NOT. Dating." Lena said through gritted teeth. One more look at the inept goons and they turned away fully and started sprinting to the door. Lena turned back to Kara and saw the sickly green slowly start to recede. She gently swept Kara's hair from her face. "Are you okay?"
Kara looked into Lena's eyes. "You saved me."
"Of course."
“So, you must not be that mad at me?” Kara asked with toothy grin.
Lena rolled her eyes again. “Don’t be so smug.”
"I guess you aren’t the one that needs to be rescued…"
"No, if anything, it appears to be the other way around."
Kara took a deep breath. "Lena, I love you."
Lena finally let out a small smile. "I love you, too."
"I guess the real question isn’t who is going to save you if we start dating, it’s who is going to save me? I mean, normally I can take care of myself, but clearly it was nice having you around… then again the whole problem is I don’t like to think about you in trouble. Yeah, you are really powerful, but it’s-“
"Just shut up and kiss me." Lena interrupted Kara’s ramble.
Kara reached up and gently pulled on Lena’s sweater, bringing her close, happy to oblige.

To be honest, the supergirl finale hits a little different. I didn’t actually get into clexa until some time after lexa died, so the last time I was this invested in a ship, it was years ago when I absolutely couldn’t get enough of brittana. Fortunately, brittana was canon not queerbait and frankly glee was trash so by the time it concluded, brittana was married and I was satisfied with that and ready to move on. Supercorp is a different story though. For YEARS now, we’ve been strung along. Always given just enough to keep us wondering, hoping, coming back for more but never given what we were lead to believe we could have. I could be wrong (and I hope I am), but it doesn’t sound like we’re going to get a clear cut romantic canon supercorp ending. At best, we’ll probably get something vague and open ended- and completely disappointing. I’m sorry to see the show ending because after this, there’s no more hoping supercorp will be canon. That candle gets extinguished tonight. For the same reason, I’m SO glad it’s ending. None of us should have to continue to be lured along, chasing bait that leaves us with nothing more than pain and a bloody hook in our mouths. After tonight, we are free! To everyone in this fandom, it has truly been a pleasure. I am constantly amazed by your talents, creativity, wit, and passion. No matter what the CW chooses to do, supercorp is ours now, and i have no doubt in my mind that those two will live happily every after, stronger together.

What about subtext? Every thing shown on screen cannot always lead to being a canon thing?
Supergirl has good representation with Alex and nia. But also demanding kara and lena to be canon .isn't too much?Because as I gave example of rizzole &isles they not only had any lgbtq relationship on the show but also put them in a very queerbaiting moments on-screen and off screen .
So my question is - Is it consider queerbaiting when the show give storylines which can be very subjective in nature as they can be interpreted -being very good friends/lovers or there should be an active attempt to lure this particular audience with no intention of making them canon i.e acting with malice.
to the point of subtext & subjective readings (two separate things, but lets just roll): the very essence of baiting is that there is the something being put into the text of a piece of media that you can pick up on and read it as this thing and decide to follow that piece of media as a container for this thing while the main text still keeps... plausible deniability ie. maintains a possibility for both my reading of Kara and Lena as being madly in love & someone else’s reading of Kara and Lena as just intense and troubled friends and me as a delusional gay person foaming at the mouth in an attempt to project.
i think SG has gone well past the point where their writing and depiction of Kara and Lena’s relationship would just have accidental and unintentional subtext of “oh, gay?” so to your question: it’s not either/or, but pretty much a causal link; it’s queerbaiting because it keeps the queer possibilities of a relationship to a subtextual level while knowingly and intentionally still delivering and maintaining that same subtext.
(like i don’t know what more could be considered gold standard queerbait when Kara with her own mouth is out there repeatedly drawing parallels between her Friendship with Lena and others’ romantic relationships, tripping and falling into her arms and accidentally kissing her on the mouth, then laughing it off like oopsie, how clumsy?)
to your other two questions: i don’t think it’s ever “too much” to demand more LGBT rep when the media landscape is 95% cishet. it should not be “too much” to demand more than the one (1) gay couple per show for a network that supposedly prides itself on its commitment to diversity & still, in the case of this particular show, has like one pair of gays to every pair of straights ever appearing onscreen (and that’s a generous estimate).
R&I isn’t a point of reference for me (on or offscreen behaviour both included), so i can’t speak to that, but generally: just because someone’s done a Bad Media Thing worse and more overtly doesn’t mean that the Less Bad and Overt version of it can’t be criticized and scrutinized. (not to mention having to take the changing social & media attitudes towards gay people & representation in the past decade or so into account when comparing the two lol.)

Miss Martian is a White Martian known as M'gann M'orzz. She serves as a member of the Teen Titans during the year between the events depicted in Infinite Crisis and the "One Year Later" stories. On Earth, she simplifies her name to Megan Morse.
M'gann M'orzz was originally sent by rocket from Mars to the Vega system to escape the civil war between the Green Martians and the White Martians.[4] To date, it is still unknown when she came to Earth from Vega.
Initially, M'gann pretended to be a Green Martian, like the Martian Manhunter, and joined the Teen Titans. After her feelings were hurt through insensitivity and misunderstanding with her teammates, M'gann left the Titans to be a hero in Australia. Though the Titans suspected she might have been a traitor, it turned out that her accuser, Bombshell, was the actual traitor. After helping the team defeat Bombshell and proving her loyalty, she was accepted as a full member of the Titans.[5]
Miss Martian of the future, with an apparition of Martian Manhunter. Art by Alé Garza.
M'gann and Cyborg travel to Belle Reve to interrogate the depowered Bombshell. M'gann, using her telepathy on Bombshell, discovers the existence of Titans East (Bombshell is seemingly murdered by a mind-controlled Batgirl soon thereafter, but eventually recovers).[6] M'gann fights Sun Girl, who claims to be from a future in which Martians are slaves because of something that M'gann will do (Sun Girl also claims that in the future M'gann will be her slave). Unable to convince Sun Girl to tell her what she will do in the future, M'gann dives into the ocean and then hits Sun Girl with a mass of water, dousing her flames.
The Titans Tomorrow appear with Miss Martian as a member.[7] She has a different look, having embraced her White Martian heritage. Having changed her name to Martian Manhunter, she is killed by her present-day counterpart. As a result of this encounter, the consciousness of her future self has taken refuge in Megan's own mind.[8] An epilogue to the "Titans of Tomorrow: Today!" storyline depicts Miss Martian eight years in the future; she colludes with Lex Luthor and Tim Drake, the Robin of the time and with whom she is having an affair, to clone several deceased Titans, including Superboy and Kid Flash.
Megan is attacked by Disruptor of the Terror Titans, whose weapons almost separate her from her future self.[9] Megan is captured and thrown into a room with Kid Devil, who has been savagely conditioned into a mindless beast. She attempts to calm his mind with her telepathy, but a reincarnated version of Granny Goodness has found a way to inhibit her Martian abilities.
Megan finally manages to restore Eddie's rational mind, and the two escape.[10] Back at Titans Tower, Megan implies that the encounter with Disruptor has allowed her to subdue her future self's consciousness. Her future counterpart seems still able to communicate with her, but M'gann shushes her effortlessly by the simple threat of siccing the cute puppies on her, e.g. feeding her images of cuteness and love.
Later, however, Megan begins showing signs of being unable to subdue her evil self, such as appearing before the team having chalk-white skin as opposed to her usually preferred green skin. She seems as surprised at this as the rest of the team, and later finally comes to the conclusion to leave the Titans for an unknown period of time. Before leaving, however, she says goodbye to the Titans and admits to Eddie that she will miss him the most, to which he questions if she is comparing him to the Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz.
Teen Titans writer Sean McKeever has stated that Megan's departure from the Titans is part of a longer story he was working on and that she will return to the team at a later time.[11]
Megan appears in the final issue of the Terror Titans miniseries, having been posing as Star-Spangled Kid in The Dark Side Club's metahuman fights. She had been using her immunity to Clock King's mind control to slowly free the other brainwashed metahumans.[12]
Megan is briefly seen as part of an underground resistance cell in Final Crisis #5 (Dec. 2008). She rejoins the Titans in the aftermath of their failed recruitment drive, bringing new members Static and Aquagirl with her. In the same story, Megan hints that she has rid herself of her future counterpart's consciousness from her mind.
When Beast Boy returns to lead the Titans in the wake of Kid Devil's death, Megan is the only member of the team who is willing to support him. While the rest of the team is busy arguing with him, Megan is attacked and captured by a new villain known as Wyld. After a vigorous battle, Megan is rescued by her teammates.[13]
At some point prior to this, Megan is seen operating on a solo mission where she defeats Brick after he attempts to abduct a young girl and hold her for ransom. Seconds after flooring the kidnapper, Megan is visited by Jay Garrick, who recruits her for some unknown purpose.[14] In the finale of Justice League: Cry for Justice, it is revealed that Garrick recruited her in order to help interrogate Prometheus, who had destroyed Star City. When she attempts to read his mind, Megan is knocked out by specialized mental defenses Prometheus put in place after an encounter with the Martian Manhunter.[15]
Megan later accompanies her fellow Titans to the city of Dakota in order to look for Static after he goes missing. After Wonder Girl, Aquagirl, and Bombshell are kidnapped as well, the remaining Titans track them to an armored bunker. Megan tries to fight off a powerful metahuman gangster named Holocaust, but he is somehow able to resist her telepathic assault and knock her unconscious.[16] After awakening, Megan realizes that she had accidentally struck Raven with a mental barrage, which has now left her comatose. On the way back to Titans Tower, Raven is kidnapped by Wyld.[17]
Brightest DayEdit
During Brightest Day, Megan is asked by Batman to contact Starman after he is captured by a crazed Alan Scott. After coming aboard the Justice League Watchtower, she mentally reaches out to Starman and begins to relay information about his prison, only to transform into her White Martian form and attack the Justice League. Before Megan can injure any of her fellow heroes, she is knocked unconscious by Power Girl, who implies that she had been possessed by the Starheart, the cosmic entity that granted Alan his powers.[18]
Around this time, the recently resurrected Martian Manhunter contacts Titans Tower in order to talk to Megan, and is told by Superboy that she has taken a leave of absence from the team. He heads to Australia to find Megan and see if she has any information about a string of murders that seem to have been committed by a fellow Martian, only to find her tied up and severely beaten.[19] While tending to her, J'onn is contacted by the Entity, and Megan's wounds fully recover. She also senses that there is another Martian on Earth.[20] When J'onn asks Megan who did this to her, Megan says she was attacked by a female Green Martian.[4]
After a mission to rescue Raven from Wyld's dimension, Megan is left in a coma. Cyborg and a scientist named Rochelle Barnes take Megan to Cadmus Labs in order to find a way to help her, and Static (who had lost his powers after the battle with Wyld) comes along with her, stating that she should have a Titan by her side while she recovers. The issue ends with a note stating that the story will be resolved in a new Static solo series, which will launch sometime in 2011.[21]
No longer a member of the Titans, Miss Martian is later attacked by a teenaged psychic named Alexander, who kidnaps her and uses her as bait to lure Supergirl into a trap.[22] After defeating Supergirl, M'gann uses her abilities to help brainwash Blue Beetle and Robin into serving Alexander.[23] It is later revealed, however, that Miss Martian was never under Alexander's control to begin with; she had merely pretended to be while using her telepathy to tell Supergirl her plan. Miss Martian then forcefeeds Alexander's mind with mental feedback, distracting him enough for Supergirl to subdue him.
Along with a number of other former Titans, M'gann returns to assist the team during their final battle against Superboy-Prime and the Legion of Doom.[24] Working together with Solstice, M'gann defeats her old nemesis Sun Girl.[25]
The New 52Edit
In September 2011, DC carried out a revision of its superhero comic book line, including its stories and its characters' fictional histories, known as The New 52. In the revised stories, Miss Martian's first appearance is when Red Robin is shown watching a press conference where Lex Luthor shows off photographs of M'gann as part of a presentation about alien life on Earth.[26]
DC RebirthEdit
DC made another revision of its superhero comic book line, known as the DC Rebirth. Miss Martian appears in the revised stories. Here, she has been assigned by Martian Manhunter as the Justice League liaison to watch over the Titans.[27] The White Martian side of Miss Martian was eventually revealed to the Titans, as she couldn't contain her form after getting attacked by Beast Boy (who lost his self-control seemingly due to the energy of the Source Wall), when they were stranded on a strange planet.[28] With the Titans back on earth, Batman tells Donna Troy that Martian Manhunter's actual intention to place Miss Martians on the Titans was to protect her true nature and keep her safe.[29

Springing the Trap
A/N: Oh good, we’re talking about accountability now. This is set after 5x08 and disregards everything after.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
“Come to kill me yourself?” Lena says the moment Alex walks into her office, almost daring Alex to prove her right.
“I never wanted to kill you,” Alex replies. She’s made the deliberate decision to come clad in a leather jacket and jeans. She’s still armed of course, but she hopes the lack of DEO uniform will make this conversation a little less fraught.
“Aiming a Claymore satellite at me says otherwise.”
“No, it says I wanted to keep my sister and everyone else on this planet safe.” Also Alex would personally appreciate it if everyone, Lena included, would leave her brain alone.
“Kara,” Lena scoffs.
“Yeah, okay, let’s talk about Kara,” Alex says. That is the reason she’s here after all.
“There’s nothing to talk about,” Lena almost snaps despite the fact that she was the one to focus on Kara. It’s not her fault. She doesn’t realize Alex set the trap.
“I disagree. You’re mad because you think Kara didn’t trust you, that she made a fool of you, but, Lena, it’s not that simple.” Alex plants the bait. “Knowing Supergirl’s identity is a tricky thing with so many potential consequences. Kara just wants to protect us. If people know her identity, they could use it as a weapon.” Alex lures her in with a pointed look. “Other people have.”
Lena bites. “I would never--”
“Funny you should say that,” Alex interrupts. “I had an interesting conversation with Andrea Rojas. After a couple run-ins with Acrata, I started putting two and two together.” Given all the masked heroes she works with, Alex has gotten good at seeing beyond the mask. “Don’t worry. She kept the details around your involvement rather vague.”
“At least someone knows how to be a good friend,” Lena says with her own pointed look.
Alex hums skeptically. “Well it’s certainly not you. Andrea made this offhand comment about you promising an exclusive the night Kara won her Pulitzer but suddenly backing out, and I started thinking to myself, what changed that night?”
Alex pauses, inviting Lena to answer. She’s practically monologuing. She knows this. It’s stereotypical villain behavior--and in this scenario, she probably is the villain from Lena’s perspective--but she’s not doing it to hear the sound of her own voice. She’s doing it to lay out the facts as she understands them and watch how Lena reacts to them.
Lena shifts, glancing away briefly before defiantly returning her gaze to Alex. “I imagine a lot did.”
Alex smiles wryly at her deflection. “I’m guessing that the biggest thing that changed in your life was that Kara told you she’s Supergirl, and see, that’s only relevant if you were planning on selling her out. So tell me again that you would never. Because I’m going to need more than a little performative indignation to convince me.”
It’s a little bit of a stretch, but this is the worst case scenario, and Alex has been trained to always account for the worst case scenario.
“I didn’t--”
The trap is sprung. Alex gets her confirmation in Lena’s shift from the all-encompassing “never” to the defensive past tense. “I thought so.”
Alex’s stomach twists at the thought of what a reveal like that could’ve done to Kara, and she has to remind herself that it didn’t actually happen. She’ll still have to tell Kara though.
Lena bristles at Alex’s knowing tone. “You have no right to come in here and accuse me of things I haven’t done.”
Alex sighs and rubs a hand against her forehead. “Lena, believe it or not, me being here like this, this is my way of showing you I care. You hurt my little sister. I’ve done much worse to people who’ve done less.”
“And you say I‘m the bad guy,” Lena quips.
But she misses the point. This isn’t about good guys vs. bad guys. This is about self-awareness, about understanding where on the morality spectrum someone’s choice of action lands.
Arresting Lena might be the kindest thing Alex could do for her--a decisive action to prevent her from really hurting anyone--but she can’t. Humans don’t fall under the DEO’s purview, and all she has to pass along to the appropriate authorities is speculation and hearsay.
Lena is not like Maxwell Lord. Illegally arresting Maxwell Lord did nothing to change his world perspective. He understood the rules of the game. Lena, on the other hand, has a confused, fluctuating schematic of the world of morality. Doing the same with Lena would paint Alex as the villain and probably provide a justification for her actions. She could make Lena worse, but then again, Lena seems capable of making herself worse.
Lena continues, “Seeing as you don’t have any jurisdiction over me and no evidence, I suggest you leave.”
Alex nods her assent, but she stops short at the door. She has one last thing to say.
“All of this,” Alex says with deliberately generic phrasing. She’s sure there’s so much more that she doesn’t even know about. “It’s going to catch up to you. You’re paving your own way to hell with all your good intentions. I know you don’t believe me. You think you’re smarter than me, that you know better, but I hope you figure it out for yourself soon because if you don’t, and especially if you keep hurting Kara to do it, my next visit won’t be a courtesy one.”

Media Literacy and Fandom
I've been reading a lot of misinformation that speaks to lack of understanding of the media and how it works which leads to unnecessary outrage or premature outrage.  I’m just going to try and shed a little light on some of the problem areas I have witnessed lately and hopefully challenge some of the outrage discourse surrounding these.
First, regular, recurring and guest star.  The definition of these are a little different than they used to be, but here’s the general gist.
Regular The star is contracted for a set number of episodes, not necessarily every episode, and is in the title sequence.  Title sequence =‘s regular.
Recurring Recurring characters often start as guest stars, but sometimes can be a former regular.  They play major characters that often return periodically in order to further the story.  They usually reappear when both story and schedule permit.
They’re billed as guest star or special guest star.  Special guest star billing incurs a greater fee and is usually reserved for well known actors.  It can also be negotiated or given to other actors who have played an important role in the series.
Guest Star Someone that appears usually for an episode or 2.
Recurring has become the new regular in some cases.  They don’t get the benefits (or pay) of the regulars, but the story gets the benefit of their character.  Additionally it works for the actor too because they get the freedom to pursue other interests/jobs when not at work.
When Floriana was announced as a recurring for season 3, for many reasons a lot of fans assumed that would mean she would be a regular presence within the series.  Speculation based on interviews, or other various sources (many of which were questionable) lent itself to this too.  Unfortunately the truth is when someone wants to move on a recurring role is a great way of keeping their foot in the door, but ultimately they intend to pursue other opportunities.
Ratings Ploy
This is a term I have seen thrown around a lot recently, specifically in relation to information that the fandom has been fed by paparazzi.  Events that occur for ratings lets be honest that’s actually the point of television are promoted through official sources.  This is either through official promotions, or interviews, it is not through the paparazzi.  I’ll address the issue of the paparazzi later in the piece.
This leads into the issue of -
Queerbaiting
Queerbaiting is intentionally luring queer fans to a show on a promise of a queer relationship they don’t intend to have.  Or, like the 100, it was a concerted and continued effort to go into fan spaces and promote a relationship they they knew they were going to kill off.  Literally.
Supergirl did not enter fan spaces with the promise that Sanvers was a forever relationship.  Nor did they lure people into the show on the promise of a relationship that wont happen.
The ship sailed.
What I see as the issue here is there is a misunderstanding between fan and exec.  For example, the exec will state that the coming episodes will “honour the love” of these characters - this leads the fan to believing that the only way to honour that love is through a long term committed relationship.  Just because fan expectation of that phrase seems counter to what we may get (we don’t know anything until we see the episodes, in context), it doesn’t mean the execs have lied or that they are queerbaiting - it just means that there is a different reading of the same phrase.  Speaking solely for myself, it’s actually possible to honour a relationship and have it end.  They are not mutually exclusive.
To that end I also want to quickly address the fandoms catch cry of -
CW is trash.
There is this general idea that because the show is on the CW that the show suddenly became shit (I think this is majorly from people who didn’t watch first season as it aired) and a more poorly represented on than we would have on CBS.  It’s important to note that if the show was still in CBS that Alex would not be gay, that Lord and Alex would be baited like hell even though Maxwell Lord was a sociopath, and the show would not have been written better.
From episode one the show has used a sledge hammer for it’s social commentary, it’s writing has been all over the shop.  It has never been a good tight show, but it had heart.  It had the Danvers Sisters, Cat and Space Dad. Season 2 just built on the problems and inconsistancies of season 1, and created some new ones by isolating the characters into relationships.  Same thing would have happened if it stayed on CBS.
Ali Adler leaving the show didn’t instantly make it a worse show either... There is zero evidence her continued presence of show runner would have changed anything unfortunately.
Yes, I am aware of the history of CW in killing of gay characters and their mistreatment of POC - but the reason why we attribute it more to CW is because they have more of both in the first place.  Every other network have the same problems, but their level of representation is far lower so is sneaks under the radar in a way the CW doesn’t.
Additionally, CW don’t own the show they broadcast it.  It’s a WB and Berlanti Production, so while CW can gives notes, ultimately they aren’t responsible for the decisions.
Lastly I want to address the issue of -
Paparazzi
The paparazzi’s job is to stalk people for money, literally.  Think about it for a moment, the people that are spreading the rumours on what may happen in future episodes is stalking your fave.  Is cornering them at airports, on the street
and outside their homes
. So why are they being listened too?  Why are we, as a fandom who brags about how much we love our fav still have the gumption to apply such cognitive dissonance?
It confuses me.
The particular paps who are promoting the upcoming episode narrative are also on selling to fans.  This means that if they are actively hooking fans into their sphere in order to continue to make money from them through the sale of photographs and autographs.  Many of which were obtained by violating the privacy of your fave.
Now even if the rumour mongering is true, it lacks context and it also is highly preedited information.  We do not know what we are going to ultimately see, neither do they.  But really, they don’t even care.
One of the paps likes to report that Melissa was seen at the airport, but she was suffering from anxiety so we respected her and didn’t take photos.  Really?!?
You don’t get a prize for being a decent human being.
You were there to stalk her, so still no prize.
You have camped out outside of her house, any option of anything that resembles a prize is withdrawn in perpetuity.
Yet fans thanked him for being respectful.  Thanked him.  And hey, it totally worked for him long term because he himself now has a fanbase.  The stalker who is making money of our faves private moments is getting rewarded both financially and with a virtual pat on the back.
And that’s why they spread the outrage.  That’s also why logically you should take everything with a grain of salt.

a month ago, lillian luthor launched raids on metahumans to begin the second phase of her plan. the metahumans were taken to be experimented on so that the doctors at cadmus can learn the sources and roots of their powers.
there are two facilities, one located in star city, and another in central city.
after almost three weeks of dead end trails and wild goose chases, finally clues have began coming together as well as a perfectly formulated plan when a system breech is found by felicity smoak.
barry allen and mon el devise a plan to use mon el as bait to lure project cadmus into kidnapping him to gain access inside one of the facilities and initiate a rescue. it’s rejected by the director of the d.e.o. on the pretense of too many vague possibilities to put more people at risk.
as the time passes, a mysterious trail of overdose victims are found on the streets, meanwhile as some of the metahuman escapees from iron heights disappear off the streets completely, so do many runaways and homeless, signifying the beginnings of the third phase of cadmus operation.
the breech is actually a coded message left by jeremiah danvers to provide access the facility in central city’s system, where kara danvers/supergirl was held. with the plans at hand, alex danvers finally gives the green light for mon el and barry allen’s plan, receiving help to carry it out from lena luthor.
meanwhile, the green arrow and his team, along with the legends and the help of some of the d.e.o’s assets such as marceline deleon uncover the location of the facility in star city and rescue those kidnapped there.
while the heroes think they’ve successfully pulled off rescue missions, they are unaware that the tip from jeremiah danvers is a ruse created by lillian luthor to provide a false sense of hope when in reality, she’s gained all she needed to fully commence the third phase of her operation in a different, unknown facility as of yet.
