The Mom Fine Print
Fandom: Supergirl Compilation: Moments in the Life of SuperFam A/N: A little SuperFam treat for @stranger-who-writes-fiction because she more than deserves it. This is set during the 3x06 "Midvale" era.
Eliza isn't supposed to know her girls are outside on the deck upstairs.
The microwave clock lets her know that it's almost 2 AM on a school night. Eliza mostly ignores that and continues her task. Midvale is lucky to be spared big city levels of light pollution, and the moonlight is sufficient for Eliza, who knows the kitchen like the back of her hand.
She prepares three mugs, lifts the pan from the stove top, and pours its contents into two of them. The third she fills with coffee. Eliza pours some marshmallows into a bowl and arranges it along with the mugs on a tray, balancing them carefully and heads for the deck.
Alex is on her feet the moment Eliza walks through the door.
"Mom!" She's about to give her best excuse until she spots what Eliza is carrying. She freezes then, using all her brain power to put two and two together before concluding correctly that they aren't in trouble.
Over by the telescope, Kara continues on unbothered.
She had been quiet during dinner. Eliza hadn't missed the concerned looks Alex had been shooting her way. There had been something knowing about them. Something that spoke of grief and Krypton.
"Of course when we break the rules for Kara, we get hot chocolate," Alex grumbles.
It's not exactly a fair assessment of course. Kara has gotten her fair share of scolding and lectures, especially when her actions put herself and their family at risk. In this particular case, the worst Kara and Alex can do is spend their upcoming day at school in a sleepy haze. Eliza isn't worried about that.
Nonetheless, Eliza is pleased to hear a fondness in Alex's voice that was more likely to be begrudging just a few months ago.
Eliza proffers the tray of hot chocolate and marshmallows. Alex eyes it suspiciously but caves quickly, grabbing a handful of marshmallows and dropping them into her hot chocolate.
As Alex retakes her seat on the cushioned bench, Eliza places the tray on the side table for whenever Kara's ready. She carries her own mug to the patio chair on Alex's left, so she can keep an eye on both her girls.
It's a good thing she does. In their attempt to be stealthy, Alex and Kara hadn't come out in more than their pajamas. When Eliza notices the nighttime chill starting to get to Alex, she goes inside to retrieve a blanket and drapes it over. Now relaxed into the situation, Alex receives it gratefully.
Alex tries her hardest to stay awake, but as the minutes turn into hours, she loses the battle. Other than gently coaxing Alex into a more comfortable position, Eliza leaves her be. Alex had clearly wanted to keep Kara company, and Eliza will respect that.
The coffee helps keep her awake, but even without it, Eliza thinks she'd manage to stay awake on her own. This is the "mom fine print," the drive to be there for her girls whenever they need her no matter the hour.
She watches Kara, who's still looking intently into the telescope, and checks on Alex once in a while, making sure she's still warm enough.
When twilight brightens the sky, Kara steps away from the telescope, appearing in a daze as the memories refuse to let her go.
Eliza walks across the deck to her. She rests her arms on the railing and turns to face Kara. She doesn't get too close. She doesn't pry. She'll let Kara decide how much she wants to engage.
"I made hot chocolate," Eliza says in case Kara wants an opening. "Would you like me to re-heat it for you?"
Kara doesn't respond at first. Eventually she returns to the present, stepping to Eliza's side and letting herself fall limply into Eliza's shoulder.
"Thank you," is all Kara says. It's all she can manage right now, but Eliza understands the enormity behind those two words. That's the other part of the "mom fine print."
Thank you for making hot chocolate for me, but, no, I don't need it re-heated right now.
Thank you for staying with me all night. Even lost in my memories, part of me could sense your presence, and it helped.
Thank you for letting Alex stay with me.
Thank you for not trying to stop us.
Eliza kisses the top of her head. "Always."
They stay like that for a moment. Then Kara straightens and turns to look at Alex, gaze fond.
"I've got her," Kara says. She easily lifts Alex into her arms and heads inside.
Eliza follows. "You should get some sleep too," she says.
Kara nods, more emotionally exhausted than anything else.
After making sure both of them are tucked in properly, Eliza heads back out to the deck to gather the mugs and bring them to the kitchen. She leaves everything on the counter. She can handle the clean up later.
Instead, she goes back upstairs to the girls' bedroom to make sure Kara has fallen asleep. Eliza tiptoes through the room, turning off the girls' alarm clocks. They deserve to sleep in today. Eliza kisses each of them on the forehead before going to her own bedroom.
When the time comes for everyone to leave for work or school, Eliza will call in sick for all of them.

yandere superfam drabble i

listen, i have a ton of ideas for the batfam. really, i do. but come on. superfam.

Thinking about Clark and his family as yanderes.
Individually, they're enough of a headache, but together? Damn.
Clark Kent sees himself as your father. The problem with him as a yandere is, he's genuinely terrifying. I mean, ignoring the fact that this man is literally Superman, he's also incredibly delusional.
I think most people downplay, or forget exactly how strong this man is. He's strong, fast, and so insanely smart. All that being said, there is literally zero chance of you avoiding him, under any circumstances.
The only saving grace in this situation is the fact that he's, like I said, delusional. Not in a 'oh, I know this is kind of wrong, but I can justify it as being right' kind of way. Rather, he wholeheartedly believes he's helping you, doing the best thing for you by allowing his obsession and thoughts of you overtake your life.
You don't even have the luxury of a slow descent into the situation. His mindset regarding you shifted really quickly, and by the time you were clued in on it, you'd already been stolen away to a farm in the middle of nowhere, ripped away from your life without warning.
The only aspect of his mindset that doesn't quite fit in with the delusional yandere archetype is the fact that, if you push the right buttons, he will absolutely fly off the handle. That in itself proves that, no matter how much he insists otherwise, he knows what he's done to you is wrong.
Jon Kent is a carbon copy of his father. He firmly believes that your place in life is with them, as a part of their family. The fact that you weren't born into the family means nothing to him. If you weren't meant to be with them, the your paths would never have crossed.
The only difference between him and Clark is that Jon has no doubt in his mind that what they're doing is okay. Clark is delusional; Jon is deranged. A part of you believes you can't really blame him - he's a child, a product of his environment. If that's what he was taught his whole life, by the people he loved and trusted, then of course he didn't see a problem with it. But the larger part of you still hated him, hated the fact that he saw you as the crazy one, as if his family hadn't abducted you from your crappy Metropolis apartment in the middle of the night.
And the fact that he was a few years younger than you didn't stop him from treating you like a child. Granted, he was insanely strong and fast, but that didn't mean you had to enjoy him manhandling you as easily as his father and brother whenever he thought you were getting too fussy.
Conner Kent, a few years your senior, isn't like Clark or Jon. He's completely aware of what they're doing to you, of how invasive and creepy it is. He just doesn't care.
I'd almost argue that him being fully aware of how wrong it all was might've been creepier than the shared delusion of Clark and Jon, especially since he could stare you dead in the eye, blank faced at the sight of your tears, and tell you in the most monotonous voice you've ever heard that he didn't care about what you wanted.
Besides a few uncanny moments with him, he was mostly pretty cocky and snide, with this keen way of getting under your skin. It's almost as if he revelled in the fact that you knew he knew they were wrong, the fact that he could do something to help you get away from all this, but he just... didn't.
The worst part was, if he hadn't, you know, kidnapped you, you might've liked him. He was easy to like, if you ignored the annoying sarcasm and ever-present smirk, the type of person you might've wanted to be friends with.
Too bad he spoiled all that by being batshit crazy.
Lois Lane, to her credit, was against the idea at first. She acted as the voice of reason in the family. Or, at least, she tried to. But the men in her family were nothing if not determined.
She realised how crazy, how morally wrong it was to rip someone away from their life for what you thought might be best for them. She also realised how terrified you'd be, surrounded by people, beings who were so much stronger than you, able to subdue you with little more than the tip of a pinky finger.
But, in the end, they won her over. The idea of someone to take care of, someone normal in the family - someone like her, and a daughter to boot - the offer was too sweet to pass up on. She's an odd mix of mindsets, a point somewhere between Clark's delusion and Conner's unwavering sanity, and that makes her scarier than the rest of them, somehow.
The fact that she knows it's wrong, but is able to convince herself it's for your own good - that's terrifying.
Though, she is great in the motherly role, acting as neutral ground for whenever one of the others overwhelm you past what you can reasonably handle. She seems to have a sixth sense for your threshold too, appearing as if out of thin air whenever you're close to snapping at one of the three men who are always in your hair.
Out of all four of them, you'd admit to liking her the most, though admittedly, it's for a selfish reason. She's the easiest person to slip by - the rest of them have super sight and hearing, and even if you could slip away, they'd catch up to you in a few seconds flat. Lois, as much as you may dislike her, was only human. Yes, she had this weird sense for when you'd try to pull something, but for the most part, you had more leeway with her than anyone else.
As a result, you stuck to her like glue, which lead to Jon whining that you were playing favourites. Jon, you could understand. He was a child, one who was used to getting his way most of the time. Clark, however, also tended to develop a strangely endearing pout whenever you ignored him, one that had even Lois caving and forcing you to spend time with someone other than her.
One thing all of them had in common was the fact that they were so damn clingy. They seemed magnetically drawn to you, hanging off of you like children at all hours of the day. It was infuriating, constantly having your personal space intruded upon.
Even at night, when you tried to sleep, you'd wake to find Conner or Jon sliding in beside you, or, even worse, you'd mysteriously wake up in Clark and Lois' bed the next morning. That always made you uncomfortable - how had they managed to move you several rooms down without you once waking up?
Your only saving grace was that all four had their own lives outside of the household, often leaving for work or school, or even patrols, so you very rarely had to deal with all four at the same time. Your favourite days were the ones when it was just you and Lois. You could slip away in the morning, right after Jon caught the bus to school, and spend the entire day away from the prison-like household.
They at least trusted you enough to let you roam around the farm freely. Well, not trusted, exactly. More like, they knew you couldn't get far before one of them caught up to you.
The perks of living in the middle of buttfuck nowhere.
On the bright side, they acted as if the entire household revolved around you. You could decide what everyone ate for breakfast and dinner, you could decide the 'family activity' of the week. They tended to give in to what you wanted pretty easily, on the condition that you gave them something in return, whether it be attention, affection, or some crudely handmade gift that wasn't worth much.
Despite their joyful front though, they could all be terrifying, especially Clark. You'd learnt that the hard way when they'd first taken you. One of them snapping usually only happened if you put yourself in harm's way, but there were other circumstances where they (Clark), felt punishment was warranted.
You'd once made the mistake of making genuinely hurting Lois (or, her feelings at least), to the point of making her cry. Once, and never again.
But since then, you'd learnt how to play your cards, how to skate by in the Kent household with only a small dose of anxiety. You'd managed to avoid being metaphorically (and literally) shackled to the bed, like when you'd first arrived. Time had made things easier - time, and getting to know them.
As much as you were loathed to admit it, getting to know them had made it easier to handle them. It'd been a hard pill to swallow originally, but as the months went by, you'd had to accept the fact that you weren't going anywhere, and it was better to adapt to the situation than remain sullen and miserable for the rest of your life.
They seemed to believe you were slowly but surely coming around to the idea of being a part of their family. You definitely acted like it. But deep down, you were biding your time, waiting, planning for the perfect moment.
You'd leave, run and hide, go to furthest corner of the earth to get away from them. You always thought you would, and one day, you did.

Tim would turn everything into a teaching moment… doesn’t even hide anything on purpose, he’s just there to help them, to listen to them. Teenage conflicts are none of his business, but he has to hear every side for his own entertainment
yeah!! he's not going out of his way to be reclusive or hide things, he just. doesn't talk about his personal life. and he has such a poker face. they're all sitting there having a hot debate as to which member of the superfam is hottest and they don't even know that tim is sitting at his desk listening in and internally losing his shit. he's going +10 approval for every time one of them argues for kon though.
and yeah he gets Every Angle on the drama. he won't get involved unless he thinks it's actually better if he does (he mellows out a Little on the meddling front as an adult) but he's still nosy and wants to know everything. every participant in the group will come vent to him at least once and he's just like. ah... i understand. hm. mhmm. hn... i see.
the thing about tim with a gaggle of teenagers is that i just think its good. he'd be good with them and love them so much. like he's dorky and kinda cringefail but he's also SO good at what he does and he knows everyone and it's just. i love to imagine this future for him <3

To Pjo x DC content creators, reminder that:
Percy canonically referenced Superman but never any other DC superhero
Kryptonians are compared to gods in power level in-universe
Metropolis is in the upper parts of New York
Percy canonically also hates rich people and expresses they never want to be rich ever
Jason dosen't have a Super to his Bat nor a proper foil who's another hero
Percy dosen't kill not because of a moral code but because they're scared of their own powers
Kon is a kid who was abused by almost every adult in their life and Percy always takes those in as their younger siblings and pseudo-kids and they share almost the same sense of humor
Please for the love of fuck make Percy a Superfam member instead of Batfam,it dosen't work on every level and that includes that Percy wouldn't like Bruce at all much less view him as their dad and Clark would remind them of Sally so they'd have a Gwen Stacy and Jessica Drew moment of Percy saying 'Will you adopt me?' on the first meeting

How Batman Obtains New Members for the Batfam
Bruce: I saw a black haired sad orphan when I was coming back from work today.
Alfred: Oh no.
Bruce: They were really sad.
Alfred: Master Bruce please tell me you didn't...
Bruce: Alfred met New Kid. Just adopted them. Also tell Damian that is time he come up with another name and go solo. New Kid is Robin now.
Or
Independent Gotham Hero: *living their life* *wait is that shadow getting closer*
Batman: You'll never gonna make it by yourself. Stop being a hero before you die.
Independent Gotham Hero: No.
Batman: You gave me no choice but to either train you or have you trained by another core adult member of the bat clan.
*How Superman Gets New Members for the Superfam*
Hal: So, Supes, what's the deal with the new kid hidding behind you?
Clark: Is complicated.
Diana: Are they a clone?
Barry: No, no, betcha they are another one involving time travel.
Ollie: My bet is alternate reality.
Clark: Er...
Bruce: Just tell them, Clark.
Clark: Fine. They are a clone of a future version of my son from an alternate reality and also they are Wally's third cousin.
Or
Superman: Hello, Conner, you wanted to talk.
Superboy: I think Bizarro Lex just follows me around now? Can I have him as a sideckick? He has superpowers from a failed science experiment.
Superman: *already tired* You know Bizarro people aren't pets right Kon?
Superboy: *offended* Of course Bizarro da-Lex is my friend and we fight crime together! *Clark looks at him as if reading his intentions* Please.
Superman: Okay.
Superman II (Jon): I discoverred an alternative reality were we are all martians but Mars exploded during the white martians war and the only survivor was an alternative version of aunt Kara and aunt Karen called K'aeri that is also the daugther of alternative Kon. She is really nice. Can she join us?
Superman: *trying to not show how done he is* If everyone is okay with that I see no problem.
Powergirl: I-
Superman: Come to ask my opinion on another super person?
Powergirl: No. I just wanted to say hi. Got a guinea pig but he isn't really super at the moment.
Superman: Nice to hear that. : )
Bizarro: I did not come to ask for a new member
Superman: Oh nic-wait a second.

Batfam and Superfam + as Chapsticks
Bruce: Basic Medicated Blistex - everybody knows this one and has most likely used it at some point. mf burns your lips though, not for the faint of lip
Selina: Vaseline Rosy Lip Therapy - one of the popular faves, this one is somehow always getting lost?         ((who else loves the pop and click))
Clark: Classic Burt's Bees - a sweet but strong lip balm, seen everywhere but also not for everyone
Lois: Classic Chapstick Cherry, Spearmint, and Strawberry Lip Balm - multifaceted, a balm for your best moments, iconic
Dick: Carmex Classic Lip Balm - the balm you swipe 30 layers on but this shit strong. prepare your lips for peeling and your nose for the fumes. do NOT underestimate.
Wally: Eos Vanilla Bean Lip Balm - so f*ing smooth but always gone when you need it, youll pat your pockets for a while until you realize you either left it, finished it, or lost it
Starfire: C.O. Bigelow My Favorite Night Balm - this balm will change your life. You WILL be left with an inch thick coat of this stuff on your lips and you WILL never use anything else
Jason: Vaseline Cocoa Butter Lip Therapy Tub - a little bit different form of lip care, but those who give it a chance will have the healthiest lips , you gotta let it set though!
Roy: Palmers Coconut Oil Formula - overlooked until deeper into your chapstick journey unless you started here, now you open the cap just for the smell
Tim: Chapstick Coffee Collection - no comment just laughs, leaning into that Tim Coffee Addict stereotype
Conner: Eos Spheres (any and all flavors) - was SUPER (*) popular, huge surge, then faded into the background go queen live a normal life
Damian: Carmex Cherry Medicated Lip Balm - if you open and apply this mf in a public space be ready for some looks. if you use this on the regular and dont flinch you either have broken glass for lips or you eat broken glass for breakfast
Jon: Nivea Cherry Shine Lip Balm - super cute design super cute flavor but stronger than you think, you apply it in 3 swipes religiously no more no less
Diana: Chapstick Classic Spearmint - apply at your own risk. seen as an "older person's" chapstick but really the person who uses this chapstick has seen their fair share and chews ice for fun
Harley: Lip Smacker Best Flavor Forever - the variety pack you find at your local Claire's but think about fondly when your brain gives you junior high memories at 3 am
((this is a FANFICTION, do not take as professional / genuine lip care advice.
I AM NOT A DOCTOR.))

Ok so I have a kinda. Detailed and entirely too angsty headcanon about the death of Superman. Not the storyline from the 90s but like. How Clark Kent meets his end. Bc in my mind the superfam are functionally immortal cause like. At a certain point they just stop aging. Cause aging is the natural process of our bodies breaking down but the yellow sun is constantly healing them. So full kryptonians straight up can't die of natural causes
(Kon and Jon would age imo cause being only half Kryptonian means that their healing isn't as affective (according to this hc at least) and so they can die of natural causes, however they age much slower and still see all their loved ones die but anyway that's not the point of this)
And here's the thing. Clark and Lois have a good long life together. And Lois is active and healthy basically until the day she dies. She starts losing mobility eventually but never her mind, she can remember every single moment she had together with Clark
But eventually it's time to go and Clark who hasn't aged a day in sixty years holds her in front of the sunset and as the sun goes down she stops breathing
The funeral is quickly done. Everyone knew it was coming. It's attended by so many heroes and journalists and everyone pays their respects
And then the world moves on. Clark tries to move on. He still has his family - Kara and Jon and Kon and everyone else - but a month passes, two, six, nine, a year, and he just isn't the same man anymore
So he gathers his family, and then afterwards the justice league, and says that this is it for him. He's had almost a century on this earth and he's done a lot of good with it, but there's so many other heroes now
He's been off world and on world and he's done so much and now he's straight up done
And like for the superfam like. They saw it coming, you know? They try to fight against it because they don't want him to die obvi, but. Eventually they do get it. And he really hasn't been the same since Lois died
And yeah like in a way for Kara this is her losing her last family tie to krypton itself but also she has time to prepare
The jla are. Harder. It's a younger generation. One that us as an audience literally hasn't seen yet cause most of them haven't been born yet. And they're so hopeful and strong and yet they've seen so much and they want superman there with them
But Clark tells them they've got it, they can do this, he hasn't been a major member of the JLA in decades and there's so many heroes who have taken care of this planet without needing him
Finally he does it.
He uses gold kryptonite
Stabs himself, makes him completely human forever
And like, he could wait to die of natural causes, wait another sixty years. But he can't wait to see Lois for another moment. And I think what he'd do is he'd ask another member of the superfam to fly him into the sun. So quickly his doesn't even lose his breath
And he becomes a part of the star at the center of our system, the one that gave him all his strength
And he sees Lois again

Hi, if you want it would be really fun to have a little post about the Young Justice 2 OCs and who they all are because I am having so much fun with these posts and want to know all the kiddos
💕💕💕💕
Ooooh I was waiting for an excuse to say everything all at once
so my idea started with Tim’s set of kids, a trio of which is made up of Jasper (Kookaburra), Diallo (Pitohui) and Kioni (Turaco). Jasper and Diallo will get their moment later but rn we’re starting with Kioni.
Kioni is from Kenya, but her parents moved to Gotham when she was very young so she doesn’t have many memories of her extended family there. Unfortunately, while her parents were trying to move into their new apartment, they were gunned down in the crossfires of a gang dispute. Being new to the area no one knew them yet and no one knew to look for Kioni, so she fell through the cracks and grew up on the streets of Gotham. She was looked after primarily by the owner of a small family restaurant, who would give her and some other street kids food that would otherwise be thrown away
Kioni met Tim while he was investigating a case when she was eleven, and Tim quickly caught on to the fact that she had no one looking after her. At this point he was already three kids in (Jasper, Veda, and Diallo) so he was just like “what’s one more” and adopted her. She became Turaco. A couple of years later, when she’s thirteen, she meets Mi-Sun and Vivian, and together they decide to found the second iteration of Young Justice.
Mi-Sun’s origin I’ve already covered in another post but I’ll put an abridged version here. She was a regular orphan (in an orphanage) until a school trip to lex corp unfortunately coincided with an alien attack and she was pierced through the chest and heart by shards of platinum kryptonite. Though she didn’t realise the full effects right away, the platinum kryptonite gave her all of the powers (and weaknesses) of a regular Kryptonian. Lex Luthor realised this ans tried to capture her, but with help from Kon and other superfam members, she was able to stay free.
Kon decided with her that he should formally adopt her, and at fourteen she became Sunbeam, and met Kioni and Vivian not long afterwards.
Vivian doesn’t remember her old life. She used to be able to remember bits and pieces about it when she first arrived in this dimension, but it seems that her memory was the price to pay for a speed force connection. Irey and Jai accidentally pulled her through reality, and now she’s here. She kind of wishes she felt more strongly about it, but it’s difficult to miss something you have no memory of. Bart was supposed to be keeping an eye on irey and jai, so Wally gave him responsibility over Vivian as penance, but honestly they’re just vibing. Literally. Sometimes they’ll just be in a room vibrating in harmony.
Vivian is about thirteen or fourteen years old. She became Vivace (musical term for lively - though she can’t remember anything, she’s sure she loved music) and it wasn’t long before she (literally) ran into Kioni and Mi-Sun
that’s the founding trio! Of course, they’re not the only members. I’m going to add them in reblogs, but here’s a list of them:
Jasper - Kookaburra
Diallo - Pitohui
Orlie - Petrel
Jinj’r - Cinderspark
Lillia - Wonder Girl
Freia - Bullseye

Chapter One: Dear Diary
"You are gonna kill this whole high school publicity stunt thing!" Rex exclaimed while I sat on my balcony, soaking in the sun. I hadn't broken it to Rex that I'd actually enrolled in a real public high school. Rex would've blown a gasket if he knew, so I decided to wait until after my first week to tell him. "What are you gonna wear? Have you come up with a caption for the Face-sta-gram yet?"
"Please never say that again... And I haven't decided yet. I thought I'd keep it caj and wear board shorts. The weather's gonna be nice. Clear skies," I replied. Someone stood, blocking the sun, and I snatched off my sunglasses. "What gives!"
"Lucky, you've gotta take this seriously. Board shorts? Are you out of your mind? You're peddling unattainability. Any high school chump can wear board shorts on their first day. You've gotta go big or go home," Rex chastised me. I pinched the bridge of my nose.
I put my sunglasses on and tried to regain my cool. Sometimes I wished Rex would shut up and find someone else to bother, but I think I was his only client. "Can you move this lecture like three feet to the right?" I asked.
"You mean the left, right?" Rex questioned. I grinned. "Oh, so now you're a comedian?"
I chuckled and gave him the finger because he hated when I did that. The sun hit my skin as he stormed off. He finally let me be alone with my thoughts for a few minutes, and I started feeling homesick. I wanted to call my dad and talk to him, but that's what he was waiting for. He wanted me to give him a reason to think I regretted the emancipation proceedings. I didn't. I only wanted to hear his voice. He was my father, after all. It wasn't like I got emancipated because he was stealing from me or abusive. He wasn't any of that. I got emancipated because I wanted to go to public school and stay out late on the weekends. It didn't mean I didn't miss him. I teared up under my sunglasses and used my face towel to wipe my eyes, pretending I was dabbing sweat from my cheeks. I always thought he'd eventually break and take me to my first day of public school. Dad always told me it was too dangerous to go to public school. Instead, I'd be taking myself.
The sunlight and cool ocean breeze put me to sleep. Rex woke me up to get me out of the sun and bothered me about my first-day outfit. "Rex, go home. I will pick a fit so sick your grandchildren will print pictures of my student ID on t-shirts," I lied in the hopes that I'd be able to shower and work on one of my songs in peace and quiet. It worked.
I got cleaned up, sat in front of the muted tv, and screwed around on the guitar. Everyone decided pop would be my sound. I didn't have a choice because they thought I was too young to get into heavy sounds. I argued with them for weeks, but my dad said pop was safe, and I got stuck with the genre. I still wrote my own stuff when I got a moment to myself, but I never showed anyone out of fear they'd say I was a bummer. Most of it was my way of venting out all the negative emotions I felt that weren't profitable. In the words of my ex-publicist, whenever my dad wasn't around, "Depression doesn't sell." A few hours passed, and I went to my closet to pick out something for my first day to appease Rex. I picked a fitted white t-shirt and a pair of powder blue splash pattern wool trousers and sent him a picture. He was so nitpicky about everything, even though fashion wasn't really his forte. I figured he'd have Roxy look at it and give him a thumb's up or down.
Afterward, I made my lunch for school while heating up some leftover pizza in the microwave. It was quiet. Around this time, my dad would nag me about my wind-down routine. He did it with me my whole life to prepare me for bed, but I had gotten too old. I loved it when I was a kid, though. We'd say three good things and three bad things about our day, he'd give me a kiss on the forehead, and we'd sit together in silence and read for thirty minutes. He used to read to me, but he stopped doing that when I was eight. I wanted to tell him about my six things so badly I couldn't stand it, but I knew he'd say I wasn't ready to live on my own. It'd been nearly a month since we talked, and I felt like I could've been kinder, but I was dumb. I got cocky, and I said things I couldn't take back.
I turned the sound on the TV and flipped to the first celebrity gossip show I could find to see if my dad was doing anything. Instead, they were talking about me. "Is Lucky getting lucky? It's rumored that the freshly emancipated minor was spotted leaving the hottest-."
My phone rang. I knew who it was before I answered. "Have you ever heard of motels, kid?" Rex yelled at me. I put the phone on speaker and knocked my head against the back of the couch.
"That isn't true. Do you think my dad saw this?" I asked. I was mortified as I read the closed caption and saw some of the jokes they made.
"Your old man is the least of your problems! Do you know how bad this looks?" Rex questioned.
I hung up on him and called my dad. "Dad, what they're saying isn't-."
"I know. Is that all?" Dad questioned. I swallowed hard.
"Yeah," I replied. He was still mad at me, and I couldn't blame him for that, but it made my stomach feel empty in the worst way. "Oh! I forgot it's like two a.m. where you're at."
"I was awake... But be mindful that our time zones are six hours apart. Conner, what you've done or haven't done is no longer any of my business," Dad replied. That stung but not as bad as it had to sting when I told him he wasn't even my real dad.
"Right... Sorry. Well, I love you, Diddoo," I whispered to show him it was no hard feelings. Diddoo was my first word. I called him Diddoo whenever I wanted to say sorry for something stupid I'd done.
"I love you too, Conner," Dad replied before hanging up. At least I knew he still loved me. I rubbed my eyes with my palms to knead away the tears forming in my eyes. I wanted to tell him I missed him, but I couldn't. I couldn't bend for him this time. I had to be my own man, or he would always treat me like a little boy. It was always the two of us, but my emancipation alienated me in ways I never imagined. I thought I could do what I wanted and live on my own while still having my dad around, but I guess I was wrong.
"The sun... The sky... Leftover pizza," I listed, "Missing Dad... Rex got on my nerves today... More gossip." I stood up, washed my hands, and went to my room to read for a little bit. I did it every night, even after my emancipation, because I couldn't sleep without doing it. I wondered if my dad did it too.

not to be a bendis shill, but forgive me if i do come off as a bendis shill, but compared to some of the utter garbage that’s been published since flashpoint ended, i dont think bendis’ moves were nearly as bad as the fandumb made it seem. understanding that he did, in fact, enrage both the LOSH and the rebirth baby jon kent fandoms, i still dont think everything under his helm sent the superfam to the shitter. now, do i believe he didnt care about LOSH enough to write them a true adventure? absolutely, as that man did not give a single fuck about the legionnaires and thus the bad blood there is understood, BUT BESIDES LOSH…. we got some wonderful exploration of jon thru various writers. i think it’s hard for some people to understand that jon’s not superman’s first child in his stories, and likely won’t be the last, and for the chris kent stans, i guess jon getting aged up was the vengeance they deserved. at the same time, zod has the chance to become the galaxy’s most innovative crackhead now that he has everything he wants. i never for a moment believed zod had gone soft just bc clark spared him and his family, but clark sparing them and allowing canon to reestablish new krypton just opened up the floodgates for some truly 21st century game of thrones ratchetry. that 2024 zod run is about to be tyler perry level soap opera funny. yes they were cowards for not keeping the superman coming out story, but i have faith someone will eventually retcon that retcon bc as much as people try to deny it, times HAVE changed, and supes does not have enough drama in his life.

Oracle Comes to National City
Fandom: Supergirl A/N: Once upon a time, I figured it’d be fun to play with the idea of Barbara Gordon coming to National City. This has been sitting in my drafts for a while, and there's no better time to finish it than Disability Pride Month. This is set in Supergirl season 5 and references some Birds of Prey comics.
“Hello, J’onn.”
The familiar voice has a grin breaking out across J'onn's face as he spins around on his stool.
And there in the middle of Noonan's of all places is the one and only Barbara Gordon. This particular branch is spacious enough that she was able to wheel her chair to just beside their table.
“Babs.”
J'onn rises from his chair to give Barbara a hug.
Pulling back, he turns back to the table. “Alex, Kara, this is Barbara Gordon. She’s a friend from Gotham City.”
"It's nice to meet you," Kara says with a friendly smile. Alex gives a little wave.
Barbara smiles at the Danvers. “It’s nice to meet you too. Though truthfully, you need no introduction."
J'onn wonders just how much Barbara knows about them. He has never been so naive as to assume she doesn't know about Kara being Supergirl or Alex being DEO. But still. With all the information of the world at her fingertips, how deeply has Barbara decided to dig?
Barbara must sense what he's thinking because sends him a sly smile. "J’onn talks about you both a lot.”
Well. He certainly can't refute that.
He hasn't told the Danvers much about Barbara, so he does so now. “Babs is a librarian, which among other things makes her a tremendous resource." It's an understatement if ever there was one, but there's only so much he can say in public. He turns to Barbara. "What brings you to National City? ”
"Business," Barbara says simply. "Though maybe we could talk in private?" She glances at the Danvers, so they know they're to be included.
They all agree, grabbing their coffee cups. Kara scoops up the remainder of her sticky bun, her late morning snack, in a napkin.
On the way to J’onn's office, he asks Barbara about her basketball league. The Danvers trail behind them. He doesn't hear them, but they're undoubtedly talking, asking if the other knows what's going on.
They enter as Brainy is putting on a coat, soon to be on his way out.
“Oh, good. You’re back. I am--” Brainy stops in his tracks and balks. “Oracle.”
“Brainiac-5,” Barbara greets. “Or I suppose you prefer Brainy.”
J'onn knows he's mentioned Brainy before, certainly not to the degree of Alex and Kara, but Barbara's never mentioned meeting him before.
“What are you doing here?” Brainy asks defensively, posture growing more rigid and standing a little taller. “You think I am incapable of being good without oversight.”
J'onn has no idea where this is coming from, but Barbara meets Brainy's gaze knowingly. There's clearly history here.
“I never said you couldn’t.”
“And yet you are here.”
“I’m not here because of you.”
Brainy lets out a little hmph of disbelief before turning to the others. “I am going to pick up my pizza, which I will eat... away from here.”
Kara frowns as they watch Brainy leave. “That was like watching Brainy interact with Kelex.”
Barbara sighs then explains, “Shared Coluan memories... they can make things a little messy.”
“So you’re Oracle,” Alex says, looking Barbara over as if for the first time.
Kara says, “Kate told me about you.”
Barbara’s brow furrows as she tries to put the pieces together. “Kate... Kane?”
Kara nods.
“You’ve met?”
“In another universe.”
Barbara mouths, Oh.
Confusion is not an expression J'onn is used to seeing on Barbara's face. It's good to know that even the all-seeing Oracle has limits. Speaking of Oracle and her vast empire of knowledge, J'onn figures it's a good time to talk business. “Would you like to see the Tower? We can talk up there.”
Barbara eyes the stairs leading up to the elevator. “We can talk downstairs.”
It's J'onn's turn to shoot Barbara a sly smile. “Babs, I’m a shapeshifter. Need I remind you that our technology can shapeshift as well?”
She accepts the teasing with a chagrined smile. “How foolish of me to forget.”
“Well, it’s nice to know I can still surprise you,” J'onn says as he transforms the stairs into a ramp.
After a brief tour and a brief interlude about the differences between this Tower and Barbara's own, they get down to business.
“You have a Leviathan problem,” Barbara says easily as if it's common knowledge.
“How do you know about that?” Alex asks before coloring slightly under Barbara's quirked eyebrow. “Right, you’re Oracle. You know everything. My bad.”
Barbara smiles in response before continuing, “More than that, Leviathan is a tech problem, makes it of particular interest to me.”
“Are you sure you want to get involved?” Kara asks, concerned. “Leviathan is dangerous.”
Barbara waves a dismissive hand. “J’onn knows what I like to say.”
He does, but he'd prefer she not. “Please don’t.”
She does anyway. “Never underestimate a deathbed as an opportunity to rethink strategy.”
“Damn,” Alex says, whistling appreciatively. “That’s metal.”
“And not something you should be thinking about,” J’onn says sternly before glaring at Barbara. “Why would you say that?”
Barbara smirks. “It seemed like something they’d appreciate. Was I wrong?”
...
“I know you’re not him.”
Brainy jumps at the familiar voice, cursing under his breath.
He had avoided Oracle when possible, sequestering himself away and assuming he'd hear her coming. He would not have guessed someone in a wheelchair would be that stealthy. He underestimated her. He would not do so again.
"As do I," Brainy responds, not bothering to keep the defensive sarcasm from his voice.
"I know you have his memories. I know Coluan history. I also know that when I was shot, everyone was trying to tell me how to feel, how to move on. Even how not to move on." She runs a hand over one of her wheelchair's pushrims absentmindedly. "So I get it, maybe not exactly but... We are who we choose to be." She looks up at him, considering. “What do you think? Can we work together?”
Brainy meets her gaze and thinks, What would Kara Danvers do?
It's a question that served Brainy well in the past (in the future actually, but that was neither here nor there, or rather, neither then nor now). He considers the situation through her eyes. With their technical powers combined, they could be a formidable team.
And Oracle was right. They had a shared set of memories, albeit from opposite sides, but they could choose what to make of them. He wouldn't let them change his behavior if she wouldn't.
"I'm willing to try."

Young Justice finale ~ MY OPINION
(YOUNG JUSTICE SPOILERS AHEAD)
I've been DYING to talk about the season finale, but college is killing me, fr. My friends don't watch the show and my brother is still catching up, and I really need to get out of my chest some things.
I think they wrapped things up to quickly. It was so quick It was hard to process and It felt like going through a check list of things they were going wrong and now look IN ONE MINUTE IS ALL ALRIGHT AGAIN. It felt rushed and I didn't like it.
About Ma'alefa'ak, I'm happy he got what he derseved, he is an asshole, and he has been one since season 2. I've read people say that he actually has a point, but he's an extremist. And I agree Mars is SUPER RACIST and they need to change their ways ASAP, but for me as soon you start killing people and children, you don't have a point anymore. And specially Danny Chase, even though he had a shitty life he was a sweetheart, and deserved a happy ending.
Tumblr media
And the worst part about this whole thing is that in Mars THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW he was getting the A'ashenns a whole planet. What are you even doing man? You got a political movement, and you do things by yourself and get involved with an intergalactic terrorist? How do you expect your people to follow you like this? I really wish we could see REAL ACTIVISM is MARS. I HATE seeing people with good points and motivations become extremist in media, and the plot line is so popular nowadays. Give me an actual activist PLEASE.
Now ships wise, I've never been a M'gann and Conner shipper, I'm not an anti but I'm not a fan; specially because I feel that M'gann is very toxic... But Conner seems happy, I guess.
Is funny to me that the writers push so much their love line to us, but I can't get excited about them. In their wedding I was literally more hyped about Icicle Jr being there and catching the bouquet or Jon carrying the rings, than the wedding itself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was not going to write this, because I didn't want to be THAT Stan... But I'm still pretty pissed that there is NO NIGHTWING IN NIGHTWING'S ARC. I'm not demanding to see him all the time, if you wanna let go of his character THEN LET HIM GO, give me one scene or mention that he is living his best circus life, but don't go around town saying that you're going to give me 6 episodes that focus on him and then GIVE ME ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
But it's not all bad I guess.... We have Conner with the Superfam! There's no many places where we can see Conner having wholesome moments with the Superfam and in Young Justice we have a few, I specially love the bond between Conner and Jonathan, they are the cutest together, and Jon loves him so much, I wish we could have a relationship like this between these two in the comics.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And don't even let me start in Clark's and Conner's brother like relationship. To think that Superman didn't even talk to Conner in S1 and now it's part of his family, that now he knows the Kents and they accepted him as their own, it just makes me so emotional, ok?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm kinda worry about the definition that Jon now have of death, though. But I'm glad they're addressing it.
Now, I hate to admit it but I'm a SUCKER for powerful evil women, and let me just say that I'M SO HERE for Black Mary and Kara Zor El, they look STUNNING and POWERFUL, they better give them a good storyline next season

considering writing a time travel beatles fic (i know it’s been done but they really do tickle my fancy), and as a result started wondering what each beatle would choose to do if they ever went back in time to the pre-beatlemania era.
i feel like the most natural thing for me would be to do it from paul’s pov, but i realized that he might not decide to change the course of events too dramatically, which doesn’t sound that interesting, as a story. after all he identifies strongly with his own ambition and work and even though his success may look effortless and i’ve heard him say that he ‘wouldn’t want to go through it again’ when asked about trying to reach the same level of popularity as the beatles with wings, he did work towards achieving commercial success with wings after the beatles, and always seemed to really care about charts and the reception of his work, so it looks like a wildly successful songwriting career has always been a focus in his life. the other three also tried to have successful music careers after the beatles but it seemed to me that they were less driven and cultivated other interests. maybe the story could be about him getting over an insecure need for commercial success or conforming to an expected path in general, but by the point he would realise it’s not worth it to do it all again it may already be too late and beatlemania would already be in full swing… and i think i’d rather write a story about the beatles with limited or no fame.
george’s pov on the other hand, would be more interesting but maybe too hard to write for me, as i know him less and i am not sure what kind of disruptions he would provoke and to what end. which life would he choose for himself instead of beatlemania, and how? leaving the band before fame and becoming just another member of the beatles’ entourage, as an ordinary guy, or a less famous solo artist or the member of another band, would be a radical but relatively straightforward possibility that george could choose. he could try to be in rory storm and the hurricanes with ringo (which is consistent with the fact that he used to try and get in alan caldwell/rory storm’s band back in 1957 or so), and be forever in the shadow of the beatles (assuming they’d still succeed as well without him) while still having fun and living similar experiences in a new band. he may try to fly to the US and meet bob dylan early on. he may leave for india and try to become a holy man. however, one reason he might not want to leave the band would be the risks of straining his relationships with the other two or three again, if they took it as a betrayal (which i think they would do, more than with stu or any other less important member). he could be sneakier then, and pretend to become a mediocre guitarist and get pete-bested (that is, if paul doesn’t confront him about it first and makes a version of the let it be arguments happen years earlier). seeing how the beatles never talked to pete again after he was sacked and probably looked down on him, that’s not an ideal decision. although i’m into this plotline, if he stayed in the band but tried to sabotage their success or at least limit its scope, it would be trickier and also slightly evil. and i don’t think he would be able to go against the enormous drive of his bandmates, except if he managed to get them depressed enough to give up in a moment of disillusionment, or if he was honest and convinced them that superfame was not what they wanted… which i don’t think would work. he could maybe be manipulative and sway paul using the opinion of his father, back when paul almost quit and took up a factory job.
anyway. i’m thinking!

It’s my birthday! To celebrate, I have written an incredibly self-indulgent Superfam ficlet that fits into exactly zero versions of continuity. But it should, dammit.
-
Kara was regretting agreeing to go to work with Kal.
When he’d asked her yesterday if she wanted to come with him, it had seemed like a good idea. Earth was still so strange, and these new powers she was developing under the yellow sun only made it more alarming. She felt safer with him. She could even speak his Earth language properly now and everything, so that she could pass for an Earth girl.
Besides, being out would mean being distracted, while being home would mean thinking about Krypton…and Mother and Father…
But the moment they’d entered Kal’s workplace - an “office,” he’d called it - Kara was certain she’d made a mistake. The streets of Kal’s city, and the underground transportation they’d taken to the office, had both been loud and disorienting enough. But the Daily Planet - which made no sense, how could a planet be daily? - was worse, somehow. It was full of excited heartbeats, raised voices, and the noisy clatter of fingers on the flat devices Earthlings used to interface with their computers - all of it pressing in on Kara, all of it impossible to tune out with her hearing as sensitive as it was now.
She stayed close to Kal - or Clark, he’d told her his Earth name was Clark - and tried to do what he’d suggested whenever her new superhearing overwhelmed her.
“Focus on my heartbeat,” he’d said, when the earsplitting noise of a construction site three miles away had driven her to tears. “Just me. Listen to it beat. Thump-thump. Thump-thump. That’s it.”
His heartbeat was the closest sound in the apartment, and the steadiest. Kara focused on it until the rest of the noise faded away, and she could think again.
“I...thanks,” she said, opening her eyes.
He smiled at her and offered her one of the soft pieces of paper Earthlings used to wipe their eyes and noses. “My mom taught me that trick when my superhearing kicked in at thirteen.”
Not Aunt Lara, Kara thought with a pang. His Earth mother. But at least it had helped.
Now, as Kal walked toward his workstation and greeted his colleagues, Kara did her best to ignore everything but his steady, familiar heartbeat.
…Which was suddenly beating much, much faster.
Kara looked up at Kal’s face in alarm, but he didn’t seem to be sick. He was looking at a dark-haired woman approaching them, tapping rapidly at something on her little “phone” thing. Why would this woman make his heart beat like that?
“You’re late, Smallville,” the woman said. “I got a lead on the Suicide Slum arson cases, we gotta hustle.”
“Lois, there’s someone I’d like you to meet,” Kal said, putting a hand on Kara’s shoulder.
The woman looked up from her phone. Her eyebrows went up at the sight of Kara.
“This is my cousin Kara, who will be staying with me for a while,” Kal said. “Kara, this is Lois Lane, the best reporter at the Daily Planet.”
Lois Lane grinned. “You’re damn right I am, but your cousin’s not half bad. Nice to meet you,” she told Kara, sticking out her hand.
Kal had explained that people would likely make this gesture to be friendly. Kara clasped Lois Lane’s hand in hers - carefully, after she’d accidentally crumpled two of Kal’s frying pans this morning - and moved it up and down twice before letting go. “Nice to meet you, too,” she said.
Lois Lane tilted her head at Kal. “Wait a minute. You’ve never mentioned a cousin,” she said. “Or any family except your folks, actually.”
Kara narrowed her eyes at Lois Lane. Was she accusing Kal of lying? Of course, Kal lied to her all the time so that he could be Superman, but he wasn’t lying now. They really were cousins!
Then Kara thought of something worse: what if this somehow gave away that Kal wasn’t from this planet? She was supposed to protect him, but what if her being here ruined the life he had built for himself among the Earthlings?
But Kal seemed unfazed. “I told you I’m adopted, right?”
Lois Lane snorted. “You barely had to, you’re the size of both of your parents stacked on top of each other.” Her gaze flickered back to Kara. “Oh…”
“Yeah. Kara’s a bio relative,” Kal said. His voice dropped to a softer register. “It’s a bit of a sensitive situation. I’d rather not…”
“Understood,” Lois Lane said. She gave Kara a big smile. “Well, welcome to the Planet, Kara. Want to go bully a suspected arsonist?”
“What?” Kara asked, startled.
Kal laughed. “Give us a minute, would you, Lois?”
“You got it, Smallville,” Lois Lane said and walked away, tapping on her phone again.
Kal turned to Kara. “She didn’t mean that literally. Well, she sort of did, she’s a bit of a bulldog, but you and I can stay here if you’d rather we didn’t - ”
“Is she an enemy?” Kara interrupted.
Kal blinked. “What?”
“Is she an enemy?” Kara repeated. “Of yours or Superman’s or…oh!” She lowered her voice. “Does she suspect you’re Superman? Is that the problem?”
“What?” Kal said again. “No, she’s not an enemy! She’s my best friend! Why would you think there’s a problem?”
“Because your heartbeat got so fast when she came over,” Kara said.
Kal went bright red.
Kara stared at him. “Oh,” she said, feeling stupid. She looked back over at where Lois Lane was now shouting at a red-haired young man, who didn’t seem at all bothered to be shouted at. She supposed Lois Lane was reasonably pretty, in a very loud and intimidating sort of way. “Really? Does she know?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Kal said stiffly.
Kara shook her head. “I don’t know whether this is grosser because you were supposed to be so young when I got here, or because you’re so old.”
Kal looked offended. “Old? I’m thirty.”
“Exactly.”
“Smallville!” Lois Lane shouted from across the room. “We’re burning daylight here! And the arsonist probably is too, literally, so come on!”
There was no way to interpret the look on Kal’s face as anything but smitten. How embarrassing. “How does she not know? You’re so obvious.”
Kal winced. “Well, she doesn’t, so for now can we make this two secrets you’re keeping for me?”
“Me and everyone else with eyes, but okay,” Kara said, with a loud and mostly fake sigh. “It’s my job to protect you, after all.”
Kal laughed. He looked a lot like Uncle Jor when he did that, and even a little bit like Father. It was better than nothing.
“Thanks,” he said, still smiling. “Come on. We’ll show you how to be a reporter.”
