Mako x Reader (Asami x Reader, Korra x Reader, Asami x Korra)
Warnings: none?
Tumblr media
“I can’t believe that Korra and Asami are getting married today.” Bolin says, straightening his tie.
“Me neither.” Mako and I mutter at the same time.
“Is it weird for you, y/n?” Bolin asks.
“Uhhh...” I say, scratching my neck.
———
“Be quiet, y/n!” Asami whispered.
I nodded, clasping my hand over my mouth so I wouldn’t giggle.
“Girls!!! Get back here this instant!” Our teacher scolded.
Asami and I were standing on the toilet, in the stall so our teacher couldn’t see our feet.
“You two are gonna be in big trouble.” She said, leaving the bathroom.
Once the door shut, Asami and I giggled.
“We got her, huh y/n?” She said, smiling at me.
“Sure did.” I grinned, hopping off the toilet. “Where are we going to go now?”
“Home?” She asked, raising her eyebrows.
“Yeah!” I grinned.
We climbed out of a window, and sprinted back to Asami’s mansion for the rest of the afternoon.
“How come I always have the most fun with you, y/n?” Asami said absentmindedly.
We were both seated in pajamas on a couch in the living room, painting our nails.
“I dunno.” I said, blowing on my right hand.
“Do you like it here?” Asami asked.
“Of course. I’m so grateful you and your dad took me in.” I smiled.
Her father needed a distraction after he lost his wife, so he picked up a kid from off the street and gave her a home. I happened to be that kind
“Good.” She smiled. She then reached out her arms and did little grabby hands.
I giggled and set my nail polish down and moved into her arms. She held me tight and sighed, our legs tangling together.
“I like you, Asami.” I said happily.
“I like you too, y/n.” She said.
Even though we were only fourteen, we thought we’d marry each other. We planned our wedding and everything. It went well, until her father found out.
“What in the spirits are you two doing?!” A male voice boomed through the room.
We were only cuddling in my bed, nothing bad. We were basically kids.
“I’m comforting her, dad. She misses her family.” Asami snapped a lie at her father.
“I know feelings when I see them.” He growled.
I sat there silently, looking at Asami.
“You!” He pointed at me.
I snapped my head towards him and met his furious piercing eyes.
“You made my baby girl like this!” He screamed, making my heart hurt. “You’re not welcome here. Get out. I never want to see you again.”
——————
“Kind of? I mean I’m happy that my childhood best friend is happy.” I shrug, sipping tea.
“Yeah I get that, but what about Korra?” Bolin asked bluntly.
I spit out my tea.
“We’re fine...”
——————
After I got kicked out of the Sato mansion, I sought refuge elsewhere.
I ended up going to the small island by the city to become an Air Acolyte.
At 14, when I found myself at the shore of the island, I shaved my head, wore air nation clothes, and joined the beautiful culture.
I befriended Pema, Tenzin, and Jinora. Meelo developed quite the crush on me, and Ikki and I found ourselves wandering the island in the late morning.
Two peaceful years went by, then she came.
“Y/n’s room is over there. She’s one of our favorite Air Acolytes.” I hear Ikki’s voice.
I smile a little at the compliment and step out to see who’s there. It ended up being none other than the avatar.
“Hi! You’re y/n, right?” She asked, smiling at you, blushing a tad.
“Yes. It is nice to meet you, Avatar Korra.” I bowed.
“The pleasure is all mine.” She smiled at me.
That was the moment she fell for me.
She snuck me out to a pro bending match (which I didn’t really enjoy), but it was nice to do something with her. At the end of the match when we arrived back on the island, she kissed me good night.
We became really close. I comforted her after her airbending training and we hung out together in our free time. I even showed her how to meditate.
I found myself being her rebound. She kissed Mako and all of that drama, she came back to me.
To my horror, Asami was back in the picture.
I ended up avoiding her little “team avatar” until I simply couldn’t any more.
Seeing Asami again was a little weird, especially because she was dating one of the pro benders we met.
When Korra ended up dating Mako, it got strange.
That was when I befriended Bolin. He was kind, and he didn’t try to get with me. He was my buddy, and I loved him (platonically).
After Korra and Mako broke up, Korra came back to me.
I kinda got angry and rejected her, telling her to go do Asami or something, just because I didn’t want to be a backup.
She understood, but somewhat resented me for not being there romantically.
——————
“I mean we haven’t spoken in a while but ya know. We’re okay.”
“Good!” Bolin says, smiling and hugging me. “You two ready for this?”
“Yeah.” Mako says, sighing a little bit.
“Great! I’m gonna find Opal. See you when it starts!” Bolin kisses me on the cheek and hugs Mako, then runs off.
“How are you?” I ask Mako.
“I’m okay.” He smiles gently. “I’m glad they ended up together.”
“Me too.”
The ceremony finally started, and Bolin, Opal, Mako, and I are in our seats.
It’s beautiful, and both girls looked absolutely stunning.
Korra’s dress ended up being a pale, almost white, blue color, while Asami’s was plain white.
I smiled up at them.
A warm gentle hand held mine. I look away from the brides and smile at the firebending boy. He smiles back at me contently.
——————
I sat on the edge of the island, my feet kicking the water. I had just found out I gained airbending after the spirit world and the human world combined and I had an existential crisis.
I felt like I wasn’t worthy of the art I had studied for so long. That I would hurt myself and/or others around me. That I’d never be able to be happy.
I heard footsteps behind me.
“Go away, Bolin. Jokes won’t help this time.” I mutter.
“Uh, I’m not Bolin.”
You sighed and allowed the person to come sit next to you.
“Hey Mako.” I said, not even looking at him.
“Hey, y/n. What’s wrong?”
“Why do you care?” I snapped, crossing my arms.
“I just do, okay?” He snapped back.
I smiled a little bit. “Just a bit of a crisis.” I laughed.
“Do-uh, do you wanna tell me what’s going on?” He asked shyly.
“I’m an air bender. I’m not worthy of the ability, though. I’m a nobody who ruins lives.”
“Woah, what?” He asked. “An air bender? That’s amazing!”
“I guess.”
“You’re an acolyte, literally nobody else deserves to airbend than you.” He said, patting my back soothingly.
“Thanks, Mako.” I smiled and met his eyes. They were kind.
It hit me at that moment that I never really met Mako. Or knew him. I had only heard about him from Korra and Bolin, been somewhat alongside him in some fights, but nothing personal.
“What’re you out here for?” I asked.
“Just needed a break.”
“From what?”
He looked at me.
“If you don’t mind me asking.” I rushed.
“No, it’s okay. I don’t know you, but I feel like I can talk with you freely.” He said, blushing a tad.
“You can. I don’t judge.” I smile.
“Okay, well, I just haven’t ever been able to keep a relationship.” He frowned. “I lost my parents, and I only have my brother left. We’re obviously okay, but I’ve dated and ruined my relationships.”
“Hey. I’m sure it’s not all your fault.” I said, scooting closer to him.
“I’m too unlovable. I’m just, I don’t know. I can’t get it right.”
“I get that.” I chuckle. “I was a rebound for years.”
“Ouch.” He said.
“Yeah. It was actually your fault a couple times.” I joked.
“Wait, what?” He furrowed his eyebrows.
I gave him an ‘are you serious? are you really this blind?’ look.
“You really don’t know?”
“No...”
“Korra.” I laughed. “Anything went wrong, she was at my door.”
“No way,” he gasped.
“Yeah. Honestly when she picked you over me, I was flabbergasted.” I joked.
“I never would have guessed.” Mako laughed.
“Yeah.” I smiled at him, bumping shoulders. “I’m glad I ended my involvement with her.”
“Yeah, me too. I still love her, just, ya know,” he started.
“Not like that.” We both said at the same time, nodding and laughing.
——————
After the ceremony, the party started.
Mako and Opal chat while Bolin and I stuff our faces.
After we eat, Opal and I start to dance together. We became close after Bolin kept gushing to me about Toph’s beautiful granddaughter.
“Y/n?” Mako calls.
“Better go.” Opal smiles at me, giving me a hug.
I smile and jog over to my boyfriend. Yes, boyfriend. (I was surprised I was attracted to guys, too. You’re not the only one.)
“Hey. Thought I lost you.” He jokes, holding my hand gently.
“I’m always here.” I say, hugging him.
“Oh my gosh! Y/n!” A voice says, making us pull apart.
“Asami!” I say, hugging my old friend. “Congratulations! It’s good to see you again.”
“Thank you. It’s good to see you too.” She smiles.
“The dress looks familiar.” I say, nodding at the dress. It’s just like the one I said she should wear for our wedding.
“Yeah, well a genius told me I’d look good in it. So I tried it and I fell in love with it.” She jokes, smiling at me.
I laugh. “I’m really happy for you.”
“Thank you, y/n. I’m really happy for you, too. I’ve never seen Mako so happy.” She nods towards Mako, who’s refilling his fruity drink.
“I’m glad he’s happy.” I smile absentmindedly.
“Y/n!” Korra shouts, nearly tackling me with her hug. “I’m so glad you made it!”
“Me too! Congratulations, by the way.”
“Thanks! Oh hey Mako!” Korra says as Mako walks up to us.
“Hi you guys. Congratulations.” He says genuinely with a smile.
“Thanks Mako.” They both say.
“So, when’s your wedding, huh?” Korra asks, nodding towards Mako and I.
“I-uh, um” Mako stutters.
“Well, sorry to say, but you just missed it. It was yesterday.” I joke, making a face and nodding.
“Wow, I’m so offended. You didn’t invite both of your ex girlfriends to your private wedding.” Asami says, putting her hand to her heart in mock offense.
We all laugh.
“I’m really glad our relationships didn’t work out.” Korra says.
“Yeah, thanks both of you for breaking up with Mako. I wouldn’t have known I like guys if it weren’t for y’all.” I joke.
After a while of talking and laughing between the four of you, you and Mako move to the edge of the party.
“What a nice night it’s been.” I say, looking at the small pink flowers growing from the ground.
“Yeah. I’m glad it wasn’t as awkward as we worried.” Mako says.
“Me too.” I laugh.
We fall into a comfortable silence, looking up at the stars and just being together for a moment.
“I love you, y/n.” Mako says quietly.
“I love you too, Mako.” I say back, turning to kiss him gently.
Thank goodness for the messy love squares/triangles that were formed when we were teenagers.

Xenoforce II Chapter 12
(Before we get into the story I just wanna make an update. I will not be posting 2 story posts per day now. No longer will you have to wait to see what happens in the next chapter in a story! Enjoy)
Chapter 13: Upgrade time (Disclaimer! I own nothing of Xenoblade or Ratchet or Clank!!) There was a celebration for our paintball team winning the championship. A cake was made in my honor for leading the team to victory. Ej poured a drink all over me. “Great job dude!” he said. “Thanks,” I said. Denise noticed that my electric batons had a bit of an upgrade. “Where did you get those new batons?” she asked. “Nowhere special,” I said, “Just a little place called Future Industries!” “But that’s all the way in Republic City,” said Denise. “There’s more industries in other areas on the Earth thanks to Asami Sato,” I said. (To the 4th wall) True fact. “Where’s Ratchet?” asked Bryan. “Grim’s having him repair some cars,” I said, “But its ok.” I suddenly had a vision. A car was about to hit the building and hit Denise. Acting quickly I pushed her out of the way. “What the hell was that?” she asked. It was him. Mumkhar. He was traveling via a mechon. “Michael Morrison,” he said, “And the rat pack.” “What do you want?” I asked. One of the mechon tentacles grabbed me and brought me near him. “I want you to find your friend Xenoblade, and tell him to meet me at the abandoned warehouse tomorrow at 5,” said Mumkhar, “And tell him to come alone.” He looked at Maddi, Denise, Ej and Bryan. “Or this will be the last day you see your friends as humans,” he said. “If you lay one finger on them….” I said. “You’ll do what?” asked Mumkhar. He threw me at a wall and I hit my head and was unconscious. Through a few blinks I saw my friends being taken away. I heard a voice calling my name. “Michael!” she said. I woke up and saw Micah. “Michael what happned?” she asked. “Mumkhar…. My friends…. Ambush….” I said. I gained back consciousness and explained the whole situation to her. We ran off to the garage where Anela was. “Mumkhar’s back!” I said, “And he’s got the rest of the team hostage.” “What’s his play?” asked Anela. “Something about evolution through mechons,” I said, “He wants to force humans into machines to build a new world order.” “Whatever that means it can’t be good,” said Micah, “We gotta stop him!” “Good thing the suit’s ready,” she said. She pressed a button and a capsule came out. From within it was my new Xeno-suit. It had a green and orange color instead of blue and orange. “Nice!” I said. It had an upgraded monado and the digital headband. “I think you’ll like this headband a lot better,” said Anela. I tried it out and the effects looked more real than usual. “What kind of power source did you use for this?” I asked. “Well I don’t mean to brag, but I got that bionis crystal from Professor Elvin Gadd himself.” “Wait…. You got that thing from Elvin Gadd?” I asked. She nodded. “WHAT?!” I asked, “How, when, who?!” “Professor E,” said Anela. “WHAT?!” I asked, “How, when?!” “At the science fair,” said Anela. “WHAT?!” I asked, “How?!” “It was in the gift bag,” said Anela. “WHAT?!” I asked. “Michael I think you know what!!!” she said. “Ok, enough jab,” I said, “Its time to suit up.” I started to suit up and get my suit on. “Also you’ll need these,” said Anela, “Since mechons are machines, it’ll take some EMP powered bullets to shut them down.” She gave Micah a shotgun emp gun, and gave me a rifle and 2 pistols. “Now we’re playing with power,” I said, “Now to pick up some more candidates.” I rushed over to Grimroth’s Autoshop to get Ratchet, Clank, and Cara. I was about to open the door but Cara already got it. She had a similar hairstyle to a cartoon character. “Kari, from Digimon Adventure!” I said. She just looked at me with a bored expression. “Christ, you’re old,” she responded. I did a fake laugh. “Fake laugh, hiding real pain,” I said, “Go get Cricket and Crank.” “You guys going to get some donuts?” asked Cara Lynn. “No, you know that metal head that was terrorizing Los Angeles?” I asked, “He’s got my friends, and I need you guy’s help to save them.” “Michael, is that you?” asked Grim. “Yeah, I need to borrow your employees for a while,” I said, “We’re on a mission to save the world!” “Michael, let’s move!” said Micah, “Its mechon scrambling time!” “I’m gonna wait outside,” I said, “It’s a big place, and its strange seeing only you guys. Its almost as if…. The author couldn’t afford another Ratchet and Clank character.” We were later in a ship that Ratchet built. “How fast did you say this would get us to the abandoned warehouse?” I asked. “10 minutes,” said Ratchet, “I may not look it, but I can build a ship in a matter of minutes.” “Nice,” I said. “Guys, I don’t mean to interrupt your nerd talk, but it looks like we got company,” said Micah. I looked down and saw Mechons barricading the doors. (To the 4th wall) Time to put this suit to good use. I jumped down from the plane. Ratchet landed it next to me. The mechons looked at me. “State your prime objective,” said one of them. “4 kids here to kick the ass of a Fredrick Mumkhar,” I said. “Intruder alert,” said the other one, “Prepare to fight.” “Wow, you guys seem tough but I’m saving myself for Mumkhar,” I said, “That’s why I brought them.”  “Alright let’s kick some tail,” said Ratchet. The mechon pushed Ratchet away. “This might take a while!” he said. “I mean that’s why I brought her?” I said. I turned to Cara who was doing some instagram of tweet. “Knock em dead girl,” I said. She did a move similar to Pikachu’s volt tackle and knocked one of the mechons out cold. (To the 4th wall) I so pity the guy who pressured her into a Pokémon battle. “Michael let’s move!” said Micah, “Its metal scramblin’ time!” I followed her inside. Meanwhile Mumkhar was on a mechon planning a trap. Some kids were on a balcony ride and saw him. “Super cool!” said someone. Mumkhar commanded a mechon to fire a missle at a control and the ride started to fall. Mumkhar caught it and took the kids hostage. Some mechons were coming near us. “WAIT!!!” I said, “You may be wondering what’s with the ghetto costume. Well that’s so bad guys can’t see how I do my tricks.” They just looked at me. “Now if you’ll excuse me I gotta go save my friends,” I said. I was about to take a step but one of them attacked me. “Ok, I can see you won’t let me through without a fight,” I said. (To the 4th wall). Any of you seen Deadpool? Spoiler alert! “Let’s see how many bullets it takes to take these assholes down,” I said. I jumped up and shot a bullet at a mechon and it was shut down. I then did a flip and shot two bullets at two mechons. “Holy shit!” said Micah. I switched to the machine gun mode and shot multiple bullets at a mechon shutting it down. One of them was speeding around me. “Shit,” I said, “22, 23. Crap! Bad Xenoblade.” I saw one near me. “24,” I said as I shot the mechon, “Good Xenoblade.” 4 of them came near me. “25, 26, 27, 28!” I said as I shot them down. I shot one of them an extra time. “29,” I said, “STUPID! But worth it.” The speedy mechon came at me again. I jumped up and shot it and it shut down. “30,” I said. We all freed the humans from the machine. (To the 4th wall) I’m feeling good today. “I’ll help Ratchet and Cara,” said Micah, “You go save the others!” “Got it,” I said. I got on my skateboard and raced to the top of the abandoned warehouse. “Xenoblade!” said Mumkhar. He had my friends in a cage on one side and the innocent children on another side. “This is why only a fool would decide to be a hero, because you never know when a supervillain would force them to make a sadistic choice,” said Mumkhar, “Let die your closest friends, or suffer the little children?” People were watching. “And look,” said Mumkhar, “A lot of people are here to witness the true person you really are! So make your choice and see how the world sees you.” “Don’t do this Mumkhar!” I said. “We are who we choose to be,” said Mumkhar, “Now choose!” He dropped them both. I was left with a choice. Who was I gonna save? Both of them of course! I jumped on my skateboard and caught the cage and threw it to the top of the building, then I caught the carrier and brought it down gently so the kids could get out safe and sound. The crowd cheered for me. I went back up to confront Mumkhar. “Well that was fun and all, but your little charade ends now,” I said. “You really think you can take me on and save the world?” asked Mumkhar. “I may have had a few setbacks here and then,” I said, “But now I’m here to put an end to the bad guys scheme and give Los Angeles a bright future!” The crowd was starting to worry. “What the….” I said. “SETBACKS?!” shouted someone. It was a stranger in a mask. He chased after me but I was able to hold my own for a while. He then used some kind of telepath power to stop me in place and bring me near him. “Were my wife and son, ‘setbacks’?” he asked. He removed his mask. “Professor Freeman?” I asked , “I…. Your wife and son, I saved….” “NO!” he said, “You were too busy that you didn’t notice them in the crossfire. My family is gone because of you!!!” He pressed a button unleashing mechons from all around the city. People were starting to run away. “What are you doing?” I asked. “You took everything from me when you left my family to die,” said Professor Freeman, “So now I’m gonna return the favor and take everything from you!” Mechons were coming near my friends. “No, don’t do this!” I said. “You’re going to watch everybody you care about be destroyed,” said Freeman pulling me closer, “Then its your turn.” “Professor!” said someone. It was Kitty. “Don’t do this!” she said. “Kitty…” said Professor Freeman. “This isn’t you,” said Kitty, “Is this what your family would’ve wanted?” “They’re dead because of him!” said Professor Freeman. “Xenoblade may make mistakes, but they’re to learn from,” said Kitty. “I’m sorry Kitty but this has to be done,” said Professor Freeman. Kitty got in the way. “I’m not gonna let you do it!” “Very well,” said Professor Freeman, “I’ll have to kill you both!” He was about to attack when someone froze him in his tracks. It was Micah. “Ice of you to drop by,” said Denise. “Ha,” said Micah, “Never heard that one before.” I used my monado to cut them free. “Now all we have to do is find out where and how Mumkhar is controlling all of these things,” said Maddi. “Guys, try the floating island,” said Micah, “How are we gonna get up there?” “Why not take a lift?” asked someone. It was Principal Gibson in a giant ship. “Turns out that article in Paranormal activity happened to be true,” he said, “Took a lot of scientists to get this out of the water. Its dusty but I think it’ll get the job done.” “Gibson you badass mutha fucker,” said Bryan. “Ooooohhh, you kiss your mother with that mouth?” asked Principal Gibson.

Three is (Not) a Crowd
Story Summary: Two months after Kuvira was defeated, things have finally settled down in Republic City. For better or for worse, Avatar Korra is ready to talk to Asami about the Unspoken Thing between them, however there's something Asami had been hiding from her friends. And that something is Lin Beifong.
Chapter 17: Packing Up Memories
Korra’s arms ached from metalbending several crates from Lin’s home office to her living room. She took a small breather after she gently stacked her crate on top of another. Her arms rose high in the air and Korra hummed at the cracking of her joints. Who knew Lin had so much police stuff? She looked behind her to where Lin was metalbending the last crate which contained her police uniform. It was a sad sight to see. That uniform fit Lin so well.
“Done,” Lin huffed as the crate thumped to the ground. She wiped the sweat off her forehead and grinned at Korra. “Someone from the precinct will come over tomorrow and pick up all this crap.” Lin sat down on the couch and picked up the morning’s newspaper.
From where Korra was standing, she could see Lin in her police uniform on the front page with bold letters ‘RETIRED’ printed above the picture. Korra didn’t comment on the headline as she joined Lin, throwing an arm over the older woman’s shoulders. She metalbended the blob of meteorite that she had gifted Lin what seemed like so long ago and made it into different shapes. Korra could feel Lin’s eyes drift from the article she was reading to watch Korra create intricate shapes, a smile playing at her lips each time. Knowing that she had Lin’s approval in her metalbending made Korra heart beat faster every time she caught the smile.
Soft jazz music filled the room as the two women relaxed. Korra made the meteorite into the shape of an officer’s badge and quickly turned it into a crude Pabu.
“I’m fine, you know,” Lin commented, seeing the badge being created. She nimbly grabbed the meteorite from where it floated in Korra’s hands. With precise movements, the Chief’s badge was molded once more. Lin studied it for a moment with a frown. “You know why I became the Chief of Republic City, don’t you?”
“Opal told me,” Korra admitted. “You wanted to follow in Toph’s footsteps.”
Lin’s eyes narrowed, they both knew there was more to that story and Korra pretending to be ignorant about it wasn’t going to help anything in the long run. “I became the Chief of Police because I thought that by doing so, I would gain my mother’s approval. It didn’t work but by the time I figured that out, it was too late. I stayed as Chief of Police; I made the bed so I might as well sleep in it,” Lin finished with a shrug.
“You could have unmade it,” Korra said in a somewhat joking manner. She couldn’t imagine coming to Republic City without Lin being the Chief of Police.
Lin considered the thought for a bit and finally shrugged again. “I don’t know if I could or if I even want to. I helped a lot of people by being the Chief and I threw some nasty people behind bars.” She handed the meteorite back to Korra. “But that’s neither here nor there. It’s in the past and in any case I’m officially retired.”
Korra nodded as she resumed playing with the meteorite. The paperwork for Lin’s retirement had gone through earlier that day, despite the process having been started a month prior. A lot of people were publically upset or downright refused to believe that Lin Beifong was retiring and was naming Mako, someone who grew up on the streets and had past ties with the Triple Threat Triad, as her successor. Even President Raiko had paid a visit to Lin’s house a week ago to express his own distress at her retiring. Korra shuddered at the memory of Lin calling her and Asami over to listen to her rant about how ‘the fucker only came so he could tell the presses he was pro gay. He was talking down to me the entire time. He didn’t even realize I’m pan!’
Korra snuggled against Lin’s side and an arm pulled her closer in response. Retirement, or the process of retirement at least, had a notable effect on Lin’s behavior. The older woman was much more forthcoming with her affections for her two lovers, even in public. More than once she had pulled off a possessive stunt when a passerby had looked at Asami or Korra in a way that was remotely unacceptable. It mostly consisted of Lin pulling the women closer and glaring daggers at the victim, clearly staking her claim for Asami and Korra. It shocked the two when it first occurred but they quickly grew to relish the outward displays of affection. They would still chastise Lin for being so needlessly jealous but they all knew that the words held no real conviction. Besides, Lin had no qualms doing it again when someone else looked over Asami and Korra.
The retirement also had a pleasant change on Lin’s usual attire. Instead of wearing her uniform, Lin had taken to wearing dark green slacks and a white tank top. Just seeing Lin in those clothes early in the morning had caused Asami to be late for work and Korra tardy for training. And Lin knew exactly what she was doing.
Korra flushed at the memory. She turned her thoughts towards the mechanic. Asami was currently at work doing important business lady stuff and wouldn’t be able to come over to Lin’s for another half hour. She had been busy for the entire month. Korra recalled the determination on Asami’s face when she told Korra to burn the newspaper that bore the two pictures and spouted lies about their relationship. Korra did as she was asked and suggested for Asami to take the day off as the scandalous article shriveled and blacken to ash. Asami had declined with her eyes gleaming intensely in the way they did whenever Asami faced a challenge and she couldn’t wait to tackle it.
‘I’m not going to let those assholes bully me out of my own company,’ Asami had said. She explained that the best way to overcome this scandal was to make Future Industries as profitable as she could and wallowing in self pity wasn’t going to accomplish that.
The clever business owner did just that. With Varrick and several other popular figureheads, like Bolin once again putting on his Nuktuk persona, openly supporting the relationship, Asami was able to keep her head high and make Future Industries more well-known to the world, although she wouldn’t tell the other women if it was good or bad publicity. Either way, Future Industries was bigger than it ever was before. And the cherry on top was that the ‘leaked’ news of the Satostation trying to be implemented to the Fire Nation helped overshadow the scandal. Asami was fiercely against it but Varrick and Zhu Li overruled her.
Korra and Lin couldn’t be prouder of their lover. They stuck through everything together and came out with their relationship stronger than it was when it first started. Korra was afraid of what the news would do to Asami’s and Lin’s careers but she was also concerned with how her friends would react to the news once they read the newspaper and saw the pictures. She was never so glad to be proven foolish in her worrying.
The first person to contact Korra after they were outed was Bolin. He had apparently gotten the first ferry boat to Air Temple Island that morning but when he was told Korra hadn’t come home that night, he went straight to Asami’s mansion. Bolin was ambushed by the paparazzi but he managed to wrestle his way out and the guards that admitted him in once they got sight of him. He saluted Lin when she had opened the door and was quickly reprimanded for doing so, she wasn’t the Chief anymore. Bolin stuttered out an apology and Korra and Asami had made their way to the door by then.
Bolin had pulled the two into a tight hug once he slipped past Lin. He told the three that he was happy for them. It was apparent that Bolin wasn’t aware of the complications that their relationship had caused. Maybe he only looked at the pictures before starting his search for the three women. Bolin tried to get the three to go on a double with him and Opal.
Korra was quick to decline the invitation as politely as she could. She didn’t think Opal would be too thrilled with the idea of her and Asami dating her aunt. She hadn’t had the opportunity to ask Opal how she felt about the entire situation since the airbender was still traveling the Earth Kingdom. Korra didn’t know if the Opal was even aware of her and Asami’s relationship with Lin, although knowing Bolin she probably found out from him before half of Republic City saw the article.
She felt Lin shift next to her. Korra noticed the scowl on Lin’s lips and her eyes glaring at the radio.
“-o has given his full cooperation and released the records concerning former Chief Beifong’s leadership on the Sato case for review. Some people have raised questions if there was foul play involved in the investigations and whether the shocking news of Ms. Beifong’s involvement with both Future Industries CEO and daughter of known equalist Hiroshi Sato’s Asami Sato and Avatar Korra had any effect on then Chief of Police performance in her duties.”
“It’s just like you said,” Korra muttered.
Lin hummed as she continued to listen to the ridiculous accusations against her conduct during her time as the Chief of Police. She did nothing wrong and the records will show in time that she performed her duties to her utmost capability. If Lin had been dating Asami and found that the younger woman was involved in the equalist movement, Lin would have done her job and arrested her lover. It might leave a bitter taste in her mouth, but the law was the law, nobody was exempt from it. “People do love juicy gossip. But I’m fifty five, not sixty five.”
Korra wasn’t paying attention at the time to hear that inaccuracy from the radio’s report. “You are?”
“Yes, Korra, I’m more than twice than your age,” Lin said, crossing her arms and moving slightly away from the younger woman. “Does that make you uncomfortable?”
“No!” Korra closed the space that had grew between them and rested a hand on Lin’s thigh. She rubbed her thumb down and grinned as the crease in between Lin’s eyes went away. “Age never really meant much to me. I mean, as the Avatar I’m technically thousands of years old.” Lin’s eyes softened but there was still a guarded look about them. Korra leaned forward and kissed Lin’s lips, pulling the older woman closer and wrapping her arms around her shoulders. She felt Lin’s hands find her hips and smiled crookedly into the kiss. “I think you’re the hottest woman I ever met. Well Asami too but that’s a given.” She resumed the kiss and allowed herself to be pulled on top of Lin. Korra moved her lips to Lin’s neck, smirking at the fading mark Asami had left there from their last date. Another bonus of being outed was that they didn’t have to be careful not to leave love bites on each other.
Three quick knocks on the front door made Korra jump and Lin groan under her breath. Korra untangled herself from Lin and went about fixing her sash. Somehow it had become undone during their kissing. She walked to the door and opened it slightly before opening it fully when she saw Asami on the other side.
Asami gave Korra a quick kiss, taking note of the cheeks that were darker than usual. She let her satchel slide off her shoulder to fall to the floor with a thud. “Today has been exhausting. Productive, but exhausting,” Asami said as she took Korra’s spot of laying on top of Lin. The older woman chuckled and held her close with one arm as she kissed the top of Asami’s head.
Korra sat in front of the couch where one of Lin’s legs were dangling over the side. She started to massage the foot and took glee from the murmur of content that came from the older woman. Korra glanced away from her task to look at Asami. “Hey, did you know Lin’s fifty five?”
Asami nodded against Lin’s chest. One of Lin’s hands found its way to her hair and she relaxed more and more against the older woman as Lin’s fingers brushed through her hair. “Of course, I wouldn’t have been able to force Lin to celebrate her birthday if I didn’t know when it was.” She turned her head to grin at Lin. “It took quite a lot of persuading before she told me.”
Lin raised an eyebrow, her fingers stilling in Asami’s hair. “You wouldn’t let me climax until I told you.”
The reply only made Asami’s grin spread wider as her eyes took on a mischievous glint. “But it worked.” Asami turned her attention back to the Avatar at the foot of the couch. “It did surprise me however. I thought that Lin was in her late thirties at the most.” Korra nodded in agreement.
Lin grumbled in response but both Asami and Korra knew that Lin secretly loved the praise. They shared a quick look. Korra subtly moved up from Lin’s foot to massage her calf. Lin gave another content sound that was muffled by a chaste kiss from Asami. It didn’t take long for Korra’s fingers to travel up to Lin’s thigh and for Asami to lick Lin’s bottom lip. The older woman opened her mouth with a groan, her grip on Asami’s hair tightening and giving it a tug, earning a gasp from the woman above her. “You two are greedy.”
“We know,” Korra said with a nonchalant shrug. “But you love it.”

Her lungs were on fire and her damp hair felt sticky and rough against her forehead. Every muscle was stiffening up as the clock ticked by. She was overexerting herself again. It’s what her coach was always telling her. She put in too much energy too soon. She was too focused on attacking and not enough on defending. Coach Tenzin would surely be giving her an earful later.
Focus. Korra told herself.
She breathed in through her nose and out through her mouth. Straightened her back so her system wasn’t all scrunched up. She reminded herself to keep her feet light, distributed her weight, majority on her front foot, the rest on her back foot, heel raised slightly.
Korra stepped forward and her opponent stepped back.  They were both getting tired out but Korra couldn’t fight back a smirk when she noticed that the other girl’s eye was shut and swollen from the beating it took a moment ago. That right there was an opportunity.
Stepping towards the girl’s left, Korra took two more steps. She was keeping her opponent on her toes while her opponent was struggling to keep Korra within her line of sight.
It took several more steps, fainting a jab and then finally a roundhouse kick to the head and the girl went down.
Not bothering to see her opponent stay on the ground, Korra turned to the crowd and howled her victory.
Until weight tackled her to the ground and arms wrapped wrapped around her throat in a rear naked choke. Korra tucked her chin and tried to buck the girl off but she had already started locking her legs around Korra’s. Instead, they toppled onto their sides and Korra felt her back being arched back as her opponent dug heels in and pulled arms back.
The lights were dimming and Korra let out a gurgled cough as she struggled to breathe. Keeping her chin tucked as close to her chest as she could, Korra knew she could only last so long before she had to tap out. The referee was close by, watching for it.
Korra risked letting go of her opponent’s arm and twisted to dig an elbow into her ribs, but the angle was wrong. She couldn’t get a good reach. She was starting to get close to passing out.
The blackeye!
There were rules against sticking fingers in cuts but nothing against pounding into an already bruised up eye.
Korra brought her hand back in and drove her fist up and behind her, straight into the girl’s eye. It took several hits before her grip started to loosen. Another two hits and Korra was able to twist around and mount the girl, and was just starting to pound into the grounded opponent before the referee called for her to stop.
And that’s when she got her actual victory. In the back of her mind, Korra could already hear Coach Tenzin’s reprimands. Her training partner Mako would probably give his own version of a lecture, too.
But a victory was a victory and Korra lifted her arms up and hooted and howled.
Everything was a blur after that, doctors checking on her, Coach Tenzin lecturing her for getting too cocky and not even making sure her opponent was defeated.
What stood out was when a beautiful woman entered the locker room. She looked out of place among the discarded towels and bloody gear and damp clothes and scattered toiletries. Her wavy hair framed her long face and served to soften her well-defined jaw.
The green eyes she focused on Korra made her heart thump in her chest.
“May I speak with you?” The woman asked.
Doing her best to act cool and casual, Korra leaned back against the lockers. The back of her head knocked against someone’s padlock but she smirked to hide that. “What would you like to talk about?”
“Shall I call you Korra or do you prefer to be referred to as The Avatar?” There was something almost flirty and cheeky in the woman’s tone as her red lips widened into a smile.
Feeling her cheeks warming up, Korra waved her hand as casually as she could. “Korra is fine.”
“I’m Asami Sato.” The woman extended her hand and Korra shook it, tried not to think about how soft her palms were or how slender her fingers were. “And I have a proposition for you. Would you be willing to discuss it over dinner?”
I would have loved to draw up the second part but I’m swamped and trying to get everything ready for Komikon tomorrow. Maybe I’ll draw their dinner meeting/date when I have time because this AU is fun to think about.
Also I like how this piece came out. It was supposed to be a stress relief piece that I was also going to use as a sample for my commissions. But I actually might have it printed for the next con as well. But yeah, this AU gives me life and hit me up if you come up with more MMA Fighter!Korra stuff.
