Melis hasn't been to the cabin very much (because it rained so much last year, ground that is usually solid... stopped being that) so when we decided to take her with us on a two-night trip for a change of scenery, we didn't know quite how she'd react.

It went surprisingly well, only challenges being 1) she gets up an hour before our regular wakeup time and Can Not Fathom anyone wanting to be in bed for even a second longer than that and

2) not used to Troj making noises is her sleep. which makes Melis bark, making Troj wake up to bark, a very confusing situation for Troj that is hard to stop because Troj doesn't know Troj is barking at Trojself.

Some cozy headcanons for going on a long train ride with Malenia? I don't know if you're a big public transportation enthusiast but trains are one of the coziest places ever. It's a pleasant place to share a snack at, and sleeper trains are my favourites, there's space and privacy for cuddles..

I'm all for public transportation! Though I personally prefer biking cause Athens' trains and buses can get extremely overcrowded.

Anyway, this will assume that you have taken the sleeper train with the cabin option, cause a) Malenia has the money to cover it with ease and b) I like the privacy for the headcanons (and I feel that Mal would be a pretty private person in general).

Malenia:

Mal generally likes starring at the window, especially when out of the city. If you want to take a nap, read, etc but don't feel like staying in your seat, she gladly lets you sit or rest on her lap. If you do so, she almost always plays with your hair as she looks outside. She will do pull-ups from the bunk bed and will pull out one of those tiny travel chess sets for a game or two. Other than that, during the day she mostly just looks out of the window or follows your suggestions/conversations. At night she sleeps a bit earlier than she does at home, meaning you might actually catch her sleeping. Her head will fall either on your shoulder if you're still sitting while she passes out, or on your face if she was already on pillow duty.

tldr: Mal will find a way to work out body and mind, then will assume pillow duties and join you in whatever you want

It had been a quiet weekend, something they hadn't had in a while. Simon was relaxed back on Izzy's bed, and had been for a majority of the day, reading comics while Iz flitted around her room.

“Hey Si?”

“Yeah baby, what's up?” Simon looked up, surprised to see Izzy standing so close to the bed.

She plucked the comic from his hand and replaced it with the current Star Wars novel he was reading to her before climbing on top of him and making herself comfortable.

He laughed, jiggling her a little bit, opening the book and resting his free hand on the soft skin of her lower back, stroking his thumb back and forth.

They were like that for a while, Simon reading, Izzy sprawled on him, engaged in his reading. He'd been reading for close to two hours when he realized Izzy was snoring softly, her face now nuzzled in his neck. He smiled down at her and set the book down, then shifted so that she was on the bed and no longer on top of him.

He felt rather than saw Izzy tense, and heard the sharp intake of breath. She grabbed his shirt and looked up at him blearily, concern clear on her face.

Simon huffed out a laugh. “I'm not leaving, beloved. I'm just getting comfortable,” he assured her.

She relaxed back into him, nuzzling into his chest and throwing an arm and leg over him, effectively stopping him from leaving any time soon. He wouldn't want to, anyway.

12. Talk about a new friend you made this year

while i was working as a barista toward the beginning of the year, i had a coworker who i got on really well with. she's nice and fun and respected the systems i needed to work efficiently hehe i started introducing her to pjo by bringing the books in one by one for her, but when i quit she still wasn't done with the series, which was good because it kept up hanging out regularly to swap books. we got piercings together in august, auditioned for the play we're now both in together (and proceeded to get absolutely shitfaced afterward while having some of the best conversations). she started writing poetry again because i shared some of mine with her. i stopped by her apt randomly one night when i was in her area and just wanted a friend to talk to and she not only let me in, but was happy i stopped by--her husband too. oh yeah and i love her husband and he's a big fan of me and my friendship with his wife bc apparently we were both needing someone like each other this year <3

18. A memorable meal this year?

omg the diner in canada for sure. this was when i was driving back from detroit with a stranger bc we both had flown one leg of a flight before apparently the weather and spirit airlines made it impossible for us to get on the second leg until like 48 hours later. and this girl was 19 and ready for an adventure, so we drove across the river into canada without passports just to go to this burger place bc google said they had vegan burgers for me. while we were sitting there eating, we made friends with this rowdy group of 35-45yos who apparently went to this diner together all the time. they were very drunk and very fascinated by the fact that we were from the states. they were like.. why are you here?? but they were really fun and the burger was yummy and my new friend and i thought it was hilarious. if we hadn't had to get back on our treck to nyc, we probably would have stayed with them and ordered some drinks ourselves haha

22. Favorite place you visited this year?

when my brother came into town in january, i finally got to visit the top of the empire state building!! and while it isn't as high, or have as good of views, as the top of the rock, it still felt momentous. like we were right under olympus!!! 12yo me would have lost her shit hehe it was fucking cold tho. the wind that day was brutal.

FIRST: Melinoe! version: BLANK.  the backstory – 2,000 years ago, she was born the daughter of persephone and ZEUS, who saw an awful "opportunity" when the Underworld royal family was in turmoil immediately following the thanatos debacle and seized it :(( Melinoe was born with two physical souls inside of her, one of them the embodiment of all good and the other the incarnation of all evil, prophesied by Fate to lean one way or the other but ONLY one at a time depending on how she was treated

Her “family”… fuckin ignored this and proceeded to neglect and ignore her for eight solid years – mostly Hades but YES also Maci who 1) is not always the best person im sorry you had to find out this way fjfhfhg but also 2) was heavily influenced by Hades who was manipulating the fuck out of her too so idk I guess she cant fully be blamed??? She certainly should be tho cmonn. The Blank Early Melinoe, while the dual souls inside of her each waited to seize control of her vessel, did not speak (actually fun gross fact whenever she’s Blank shes got no physical tongue fhfhg), or sleep or really do anything, just quietly haunted the palace. Her aura was split down the middle black and white! and then!

SECOND: iiits OrigiMel! version: EVIL. “origiMel” is not a real name first of all its just Melinoe but she is considered the ORIGINALL incarnation of Melinoe hence the OoC nickname to differentiate, by age 8 the evil side of her had had enough and wrested control of the physical vessel and assumed her role as Goddess of Ghosts, Most Evil Creature In the Universe and thus began a reign of terror that would continue for two fuckin millenia. Her aura turning black. She murdered lots and lots of mortals and has done SO many awful things! Shed also hypnotize their ghosts of mortals she killed to serve her as endless slaves and playthings forever. Bc she reached her full powers so goddamn early thanks to Hades and Seph an Maci treating her like shit, Melinoe is forever 8 years old (out of universe this is. Because when I created her 15 years ago I was fucking obsessed with the ring that’s literally it. Self callout ig whatever lmfao) but was theeee most physically powerful being in the entire underworld.

Eventually due to her persistent hatred for Maci and family she focused all of her evil energies on the mortal Maci was DATING 2,000 years later – this of course was Tory – and she terrorized HIM specifically in some really really awful ways, before they got together, AFTER they got together – shes actually a huge part of Maci and Tory's story as their main villain forget about fuckin Thanatos,,, well this all culminated in the absolute last straw when she murdered Tory’s mother :((( in,, front of him,,, , eventually the Elysium gang figured out that by erasing her memories, they could reset her Blank again and give the good half of her a chance to take over, so after she was captured following that murder, Epi and Maci and Tory and Lethe forcibly erased OrigiMel's memory which turned her Blank indeed and then-

THIRD: finally, Meli! version: GOOD. That’s exactly what happened! When OrigiMel’s memory was erased, she was taken in by Epi and Eury (before they had other children, she was their first ,,) who adopted her as their own and cared for her lovingly, eventually the good half of her seized control. This is the Meli of today! She is sweet and kind and compassionate, still eternally eight years old, she has a family who she loves and so many siblings (including Ty and Bel who are her BABY BROTHERS no matter how old they get!), she loves to draw and hang out with her best friends whomst are all ghost children fggkgkh.,, The first thing she did as new Meli was cut her hair.

Meli’s aura glows white – WITH PATCHES OUT OF IT, becauuuse well oh god it’s a very long story but years later the evil half of her briefly escaped and umm killed Epi and eury’s first bio baby Melanie, before she was immortal in utero, tearing her soul to shreds as goddess of ghosts and uh. Aahh. Meli found all the pieces and glued them back together using parts of her own aura :’))) Melanie’s soul was reincarnated into Ty and Bel hence why they’re one split into two!!! Anyway as for Maci and Meli – i guess tbh they never really formed any sort of formal sisterly relationship since Seph's so disowned her and Meli is so completely Epi and Eury’s daughter, but Maci does love her and uh. Is super embarrassed and regretful of allowing all that to happen so. Happily ever after now!

The boys know each other for a full 72 hours and already they are inseparable.

Matt may be a constant reminder of François to Arthur but even he has to admit that having Matthew around is the best decision he's made in the past 130 years. Just having someone else be on the receiving end of Alfreds shenanigans is giving saving Arthur from endless migraines and worries. Alfred is a wonderful and exceptionally intelligent boy, but having to answer unending questions about anything and everything is a job he doesn't mind sharing with the lads northern brother.

Hello, I was just wondering if you could share more about the kind of training and preparation you did with your girls at home/on shorter walks to get them ready for long hikes. And out of curiosity, what were the traits you looked for in potential breeds/puppies to suit long hikes? 💜

Oof, I wish I had a good and technical system to present here, but the truth is that we live in a rural part of Norway where nothing is flat unless it was dug out and the asphalt cracks so fast the main roads count as mild terrain, so a lot of it just comes with the territory.

From early on I've pretty much just tried to let them learn and grow as naturally as possible and to not limit them too much, and all of our puppies have been active and come on short hikes since they were ~3 months old. Not like heavy, static, structured activity - but little off-trail mountain or forest treks focused on play and exploration. Shaping the dog I want from the start, basically.

Our activity levels fluctuate with the season and weather, so we only do really long hikes in the summer and early autumn. But it's not unusual to spend 3-4hrs going mostly uphill on a regular walk, so doubling that for a hike isn't that big of an ask as long as they're healthy and in good base condition. And once hiking season starts rolling around in June after eight months of snow/sleet/rain, I'm usually in worse shape than my dogs anyway lol. I know my dogs well and we start the season with a few warmup hikes, to see where we're all at.

As far as breeds go, idk. I just tend to like a relatively neutral, balanced build. I'm not personally into very large or heavy dogs. I appreciate a little athleticism. I want less prey drive and more handler orientation. The ideal dog for me is one that maybe doesn't Have To, but Can and Wants To. Over the years I've also learned that I like a little moderation in body and angulation, and I prefer a slightly careful dog over an overconfident one.

Sure!

I think she wouldn't swim much in deep water though. Gold doesn't corrode in salt water (says a very quick search) but all the weight of three metal prosthetics would make swimming annoying to say the least.

She does like walking and running around in the swallows though.

She also likes rowing a lot so often she rents a boat and goes along the coast or maybe at some island that's visible from the beach.

The swallows are basically the only place she would accept a wrestling challenge from you (or play along to a surprise attack) cause tossing you around in the water is way safer than a floor.

Though one time she actually send you flying three meters in the air so she toned it down a bit after that.

As you said, she dominates at volleyball. (she casually wins 1v5s)

She's also amazing at Frescobol and will hit insane jumps and dives.

After showering she will theatrically complain about her hair so she can get you to comb them.

While not a fan of clubs (way too much noise), she really enjoys getting a drink and chilling at the beach at night. Just talking and listening to the waves and the faint music from the bar/club/whatever.

If she rented the aforementioned boat overnight, she might take you for nightly boat date.
