Probably not the Bertone you would expect: Volvo 264 TE (Top Executive). It is based on the 242, but modified by the coachbuilder located in Turin. This spectacular sedan is one of the 30 state limousines of this type used in the GDR.
In the early 1970s, the Council of Ministers of the GDR could not show to the outside world that the previous government vehicles of Soviet production such as ZIL-111 or GAZ-Tschaika no longer met their requirements. Western vehicles like Mercedes from their Klassenfeind were out of question. So they peeked into neutral sweden
But the Volvo 242 just wasn't state-carrying enough. The solution was for Volvo to transport two-door bodyshells with all the necessary parts and assemblies to Bertone. In Turin, the bodies were cut apart and lengthened with prefabricated sheet-metal parts, galvanized, assembled and provided with the desired equipment. The vehicles were then delivered to East Berlin where they received the latest radio and air-conditioning technology and the finishing touches.
Only 250 vehicles of the Volvo 264 TE were built.

Lancia Lambda MM Zagato Spider, 1927. The Lambda was introduced in 1922, 100 years ago, and changed the automotive world by introducing both monocoque construction with no separate chassis and independent suspension. There was also a narrow angle V4 engine. The Lambda was faster over a twisty road than anything Lancia had hitherto produced. When Italy's famous open road race, the Mille Miglia, was instituted in 1927, a trio of Lancias took the first three places overall.

As promised -- the Toyota Previa Powerpoint. I love this car, but more importantly, I adore minivans. Please feel free to comment, etc. If you're curious about sources, I will happily oblige. Thank you for reading.
What I was not able to mention -- to account for its odd construction, the Previa actually had a couple oil reservoirs that would fill the crankcase and supercharger on demand.

Cars 2 fun fact: Professor Zundapp's license plate number is BAD GA 58, which can be see on the die-cast toy and in the movie during the finale chase scene
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although pretty clearly just a jab at him being the "bad" guy of the film, under German vehicle registration rules, the BAD area code refers to the city of Baden-Baden in the state of Baden-Württemberg.

Timely Notice:
The management office wants to clarify that Agent X’s ghostly, nearly transparent 1940 Pontiac touring sedan is definitely NOT the famously missing Ghost Pontiac.
Absolutely not. Definitely not the Ghost.
Tumblr media
Definitely a different car. Besides, Agent X’s Pontiac has glowing Neothane tires, and the missing vehicle’s tires are white.
Tumblr media
Now, management would appreciate it if we could all stop calling the police to report the rediscovery of a long lost auto icon.
These reports are unsubstantiated and hurtful. So hurtful, in fact, that every time the cops show up Agent X has to abruptly leave work for a mental health day.
We will just have get comfortable with the fact that, while the breathtaking 1940 Ghost Pontiac may never be found, it is surely in the hands of someone who loves it. Maybe even someone who tenderly washes it with ammonia-free cleaner in the Time Agency parking lot every Friday afternoon. Maybe.
V/r,
Agent Kay

In 1913, Ford had a prototype electric vehicle built and tested outside his Highland Park, and by early 1914, Ford had committed to building a low-priced electric car. Saying to the The New York Times on January 11, 1914:
Within a year, I hope, we shall begin the manufacture of an electric automobile. I don’t like to talk about things which are a year ahead, but I am willing to tell you something of my plans.
The fact is that Mr. Edison and I have been working for some years on an electric automobile which would be cheap and practicable. Cars have been built for experimental purposes, and we are satisfied now that the way is clear to success. The problem so far has been to build a storage battery of light weight which would operate for long distances without recharging. Mr. Edison has been experimenting with such a battery for some time.
Ford invested $1.5 million ($31.5 million in 2020) in the electric-car project, and signed a deal with Edison for 100,000 nickle-iron batteries. But Edison Electric kept hitting delays and by the time they delivered a working battery, Ford had redoubled his commitment to gasoline. But what if Edison managed to deliver on what he promised? What if the gasoline powered car became a historical footnote and electric continued to dominate automotive power in the 1910s?

Sometimes I remember how much E. L. Cord is a parasocial historical enemy of mine. Not as much as Lee de Forest, but I don't like him and he probably wouldn't like me either.
