Based off the beginning avatrice were living with each other for months? so we only got to see a snippet of that but it's nice to think that there was a long period in time where they were just "relaxing" and hanging out.
I mean that's presumably how they went from what they were in season 1 to best friends in season 2
What's shown in season 2 is all the action but it's just soothing to think that in "reality" before all that they were having a good time, idk

no but actually speaking of lilith being just absolutely unaware of her gaming skills, i’m obsessed with the idea of Cam sitting Lilith down at her computer with idk bloodborne or smth
Lilith: 😐 so you just want to watch?
Cam: *trying not to have a whole entire brain haemorrhage over that phrasing*
Cam: 😳 yep, pretty much

oh i loved your response to the #13 prompt so here we go: 5. “Please come get me…” for avatrice :)
She's in the middle of a market in the heart of Santorini, smiling as a young girl with dark hair eagerly shows her a bright blue pendant on a silver chain. Her Greek is underdeveloped but the girl is patient, explaining the way she shaped the stone and fit the sterling silver around it to hang it on the chain. The girl goes on about the way she picked the stone because it matched the ocean and Beatrice is struck how, in every place she goes, she finds little pieces of Ava.
The girl in Glasgow who bumped into her at a coffee shop and cheerfully apologized before pressing a new coffee into her cold hands, refusing to take no for an answer. The young boy in Madrid who asked about her book and listened carefully as she explained the plot of Voyage Au Centre de la Terre, asking thoughtful questions. The bartender in Ravenna who convinced her with a wide smile to try a real cuba libre after hearing her order a soda and lime juice, wearing her down gently.
Ava is everywhere she goes and nowhere Beatrice wants her to be.
Beatrice takes the necklace now and holds it carefully in one hand. "It is lovely." Her Greek is broken, but then again, Ava was the one with an adeptness for languages. The girl smiles anyway and nods enthusiastically. "How much?"
Her phone rings in her pocket and she gives the girl a slight apologetic smile as she pulls it from her linen pants. Camila's name flashes across the screen. She holds up a finger to the girl and accepts the call.
"Camila," she says happily. "I was going to call you tomorrow."
"Bea?"
Beatrice's heart stops in her chest, seizes up in a ghost's vice grip. The hand holding the necklace goes slack, saved only by the young girl's quick and nimble fingers. She tries to inhale but the feeling is too sharp in her chest to get a breath in successful. She nearly chokes on it instead.
"Ava."
There's a soft laugh in her ear. She's dreamed of that laugh, of a broken Ava in her arms still finding something to smile about. She always wakes those mornings with a sad smile and tears running down her face.
"Ava." She presses the phone closer to her ear.
"It's me." Ava is quiet for a moment. "I'm back."
Beatrice laughs, broken. Her eyes start to burn with tears. "H-how?"
She can picture Ava's face, twisting in thought as she considers something. She wonders if her face has changed, if there's new lines she'll need to learn, new lines she'll get to map with her fingers and not just her eyes. Because she loves Ava, she's loved Ava. And she's here, exhaling into Bea's ear. Just at the end of a telephone line.
"Bea, can you..." There's a shuddering sound before Ava's voice comes back stronger. "Can you please come get me?"
She's already walking, already moving back to her hotel, the beauty of the island paling in comparison to the melody of Ava's voice. "I'm coming."
Ava breathes out again. "How far away are you?"
"Too far." More than arm's reach feels like a million kilometers. "But I can be there today. Can you- can you wait for me?"
"You waited for me."
Beatrice breathes out. "Yes." She nearly laughs. "I've been waiting for- Yes."
She can hear Ava smile, closes her eyes and imagines the way it stretches, the way it makes Ava's eyes crinkle and sparkle. She feels the sharpness in her chest subside, replaced by a slow warmth not unlike like the Aegean Sea lapping at her ankles.
"I won't be long," she promises. She'll need to pack, buy a ticket, sit on a plane for 10 hours, all before she can get to Ava. Those feel like an insurmountable tasks right now. But she can do it. For herself. For Ava. For them.
"I'm not going anywhere."
She clutches the phone a little tighter. "Do you promise?"
Ava's voice is soft, the kind of quiet she remembers from their nights in Switzerland as they told each other their secrets. "I promise. Come get me, Bea."
When she promises, "I'm coming," she's never meant anything more in her entire.

I still need to watch Trigun to understand your husband but in the meantime I wanna help you continue to be insane and indulgent 🩵
Ava you’re LITERALLY my hero thank u for enabling me. Also watch Trigun.
SFW/NSFW Alphabet Prompts
(Vash/Reader)
Tumblr media
NSFW below the cut. 18+ only.
J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)
Whatever the level of experience you see him as having, the vast majority of Vash’s sexual escapades over the past century-plus years have been solo. Most of the time, Vash is honestly too depressed to jack off much—especially during the events of canon—but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t do it; it’s a physical need for him, same as any other (and, unfortunately, he’s prone to self-denial of all of his physical and emotional needs when he’s really down). Still, he sees people he thinks are attractive, and sometimes, he allows himself to want. Carefully, doing his best not to get too hung up on emotion—he knows he can’t have the love that he so badly yearns for—he thinks of them that night, lets himself imagine the hands of the kind bartender, or the smile of the stable hand, dips his fingers between his legs and jolts—it’s been a while, and he’s so sensitive. Even when he tries to draw it out, he can’t last long, and there are usually tears pricking at his eyes by the time that he comes, sticky and tired and, if he’s being honest, sad.
When he meets you though, everything changes. Not only does his sex drive spike wildly (which I’ll save for D), but his fantasies are in overdrive, like he’s making up for over a century of lost time. He just can’t find relief, you wind him up like a coiled spring with the most innocent brush of your hand against his, and he replays it a thousand times that night in his room, muffling himself with a pillow as he strokes himself—slow at first, but losing composure quickly. What he could once emotionally distance himself from he finds himself far too enmeshed in now: he can’t touch himself without imagining your voice saying I love you; saying good boy, and come for me. He imagines your hands, your mouth; imagines himself inside you and it’s too much, always too much—your name on his lips as he falls apart. Vash wants more than he’s ever wanted, and he’s convinced that he can’t allow himself to have it. So this—his fantasies, the things he does as soon as he’s alone—is all he’s going to get.
Until you prove otherwise, of course.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
HO BOY YES. What kinks DOESN’T he have.
Vash’s number one kink is True Love, your pleasure being enough to get him surprisingly close, devoting everything he has to making sure you’re never left wanting. However he can please you, he will; whatever you ask for, he’ll provide. He’s singleminded in his purpose: he simply wants to learn your body as well as he knows his own—perhaps even better—just so he can wring every possible ounce of pleasure from you, every time. He wants to hold your hands as he thrusts into you, wants to mold himself to your body and be one with you in every possible way. He loves you, and that’s the thing that riles him up most of all.
This kink of his is, of course, followed very closely by praise of any kind. Please call him your good boy, tell him how pretty he is, he’s dying; tell him he’s doing so well for you, whether he’s giving or taking, and he’ll combust. And if you praise him for his kindness? His conviction? If you call him amazing and incredible and wonderful? It’s the sweetest validation he can receive—you’re his everything: the kindest, most wonderful person he’s ever met, so if you think he’s good, then there must be a truth to it, right? Puppyplay stems from this, too: he wants to obey you, be good for you, so that you’ll say it to him—the collar’s just a bonus to remind himself that he’s yours.
He also really likes being tied up and teased, edged and denied—well, likes may not be the right word; it’s sweet torture, to have you bring him so close and not let him have it, again and again until he’s sobbing and begging and pleading, binding him and not even letting him touch you. But the buildup is too good, the catharsis in it, the way you so gently wipe his tears and tell him just a little longer, you’ll let him have what he wants soon. He’d let you keep him on that precipice forever, if you wanted to; let you tease him until he can’t think of anything but how much he needs to come, until he can’t think of anything at all. He loves the edge just as much as he loves the release, and he loves the glint of mischief in your eyes most of all; the predatory promise of your smile. Overstimulation goes hand and hand with it all, the dangerous pleasure of I’ll let you come, but then you’re going to keep coming for me until you can’t anymore. It makes him sob and writhe and gasp for air, but oh, it’s such a wonderful sort of too much. By the end of it, he’ll be begging you to stop—though of course he knows he just has to say one little word and you’ll stop immediately.
He isn’t human, and just for fun, I give him a better sense of smell than most: your scent is intoxicating to him, and he’ll breathe you in (discreetly) at every chance he gets. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: vash the stampede sniffs panties. He also likes goofy roleplay: pretending you’ve captured him, or he’s captured you, or you’re meeting for the first time at a seedy bar—though he can’t keep himself from voicing how much he loves you, so staying in character becomes difficult the second that pleasure is involved. He tends toward voyeurism, too—he likes to watch you, especially when you call his name and talk to him, tease him for enjoying the view (and there’s a denial in this, too: he wants so badly to touch you, to be the one brining you all that pleasure). Really, he’s into whatever you’re into, however you want him to touch you: you want to be blindfolded? Tied up? Edged? Tickled? Yes, absolutely, he’s already hard. And, legally, I can’t ignore his canon (in blr) foot fetish. He’ll try to be sly about it but… the man wants to touch ‘em. Sue him. Finally, although it may be controversial, and it’s not my thing so I’m not gonna be the one to explore this further… I think he’d be kinda into cucking.
L = Location (favorite places to do the do)
Call him a bit vanilla, but he prefers your bed. Especially if you live together, have a home to return to that’s yours—he will carry you there so proudly and happily every single night, and there’s truly no place he’d rather be. Until then, though, your room at the inn, or wherever you’re staying, is perfect for him—it’s just the two of you, and he likes being able to let go and be noisy, to lay you down and really look at you and take things slow.
This isn’t to say he won’t fuck you wherever you want him to, though—couch, floor, against the wall, bent over the table, outside under the stars in your sleeping bag… even in a closet, if need be. If you get him riled up enough, he’ll take you just about anywhere (though he isn’t much for public or semi-public sex, and he’d much prefer to drag you somewhere more private).

what are the fics you’d consider required reading (as you said in the tags of another post) ? any fandom i’d say for required reading or if there’s too much, for warrior nun ?
*heavy sigh* I had this post 90% complete when the power went out at my house and I had to rewrite the whole thing.
I'm gonna give you a scattershot approach, one fic for a few different fandoms, different types of fic, and hopefully something resonates.
🦗 (Recommend any fic, wild card!)
Avengers/MCU - The Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail series by owlet (tumblr?)
Set immediately at the end of CA:TWS, Bucky's scrambled brain does a hard reset and decides his new mission is to protect Steve, covertly. Meanwhile, he kinda gets adopted by the senior citizens that live in the shitty apartment building he's crashing in while he learns how to be person again. It's snarky AF, touching, funny, great action, fluffy domestic Avengers Tower stuff. There's some Stucky eventually, but it's not the primary focus and doesn't really show up until like the 5th story in the series. There are 7 stories, and a Q&A with the author.
OUaT - The Secret's in the Telling by @the-pyrophoric-one
Emma is being pranked by a thief while living in the mansion with Regina and Henry, and there's also magic fuckery afoot. This story is just neat. It's tightly-plotted and funny. I can't actually say too much because the whole point is that there's a mystery to solve and I'd hate to spoil it. Even when I had kinda figured out what was going on, I still had no idea how it would end. It's told from two different POVs, so it's fun to reread the first part once you know the ending. Apparently there's also a sequel, but I don't believe I've read it yet.
R&I - Calamity Jane Meets Dr. Isles, Medicine Woman by @jobethdalloway
Rizzles 1800s western AU. Maura is a fancy lady from Boston who moves west to live with her fiancé Garrett Fairfield, Jane wears pants, drinks whiskey, and roams the countryside as Jake Wyatt, an outlaw who's hunting for Charles Hoyt, the man who killed her parents. The immersion in this AU is stunning, the characters feel true to the originals while allowing for how things would change given the time and circumstances, and the buildup from their unconventional meeting to friends to more is a lovely and authentic slow burn. There's also a completed sequel, but it's still on my to-read list.
The 100 - Lightning Only Strikes Once by fiona_249 (tumblr?)
Lexa gets shot and dies, Clarke climbs to the roof of the building, gets hit by weird lightning, then suddenly she's back on The Ark, about to be sent down to Earth with 99 other teen prisoners, and no one remembers the events of the past year besides her. The ultimate fix-it fic. How do you fix your mistakes while still trying to keep the good things that happened? Balancing future knowledge with ripple effects, how much can you change before you don't know what's going to happen anymore? What do you do with a second chance? I think I've read this fic at least half a dozen times.
Warrior Nun - What If I Told You I'm a Mastermind? by @sapphicstacks
Avatrice actress AU. Ava is an unknown actress working as a bartender, Bea is a famous but reclusive actress making a comeback after several years away from the spotlight, and they get cast together in a sapphic love story. You ever read a story and go "JFC, will you two just talk to each other?" Yeah, the reason is because all of the healthy communication got requisitioned for this fic. It's incredibly wholesome and overwhelmingly romantic and also ridiculously hot. Like, prep a cold shower or make sure you're somewhere private when you read it. There's a regularly-updated WiP sequel.

The Sister Halstead (Part 1)
Masterlist
Pairings: Hank Voight x Female OC, Jay & Will Halstead x Female Sister!OC.
Warnings: None
“Jay hates me Will, I don’t know what to do anymore” I complained as I sat with my newly found brother Will Halstead.
Let me back up a little bit. My name is Charlotte Lahey and up until 2 months ago, I didn’t know I had two half-brothers. Turns out, my mother happened to catch the eye of Pat Halstead 30 years ago and now I exist. Unfortunately, or fortunately, for me, mom took off when she learned she was pregnant and married the incredible man I know as my actual father.
When I was 16, I found out about my birth father but it never changed anything for me. I was the daughter of Charles & Ava Lahey and that was that. For my 25th birthday however, I had a PI do some snooping into my biological fathers side of the family and low and behold, 2 brothers.
Having split my time between Chicago & New York growing up, I never realized I had brothers just walking around the city I love. I decided 6 months ago that I would move back to Chicago to take over my father’s business there and at the same time do some snooping. It was surprisingly hard to figure out how to introduce myself to my brothers. Thankfully I didn’t have to because I ended up in Will’s care at Chicago Med when I fainted on a job site and nearly cracked my head open.
Which brings me to today. From the beginning, Will and I got on like a wildfire. This might have been because we’re both strawberry blonde & a little naive though. Jay however, did not take a liking to me at first or even now. He did not appreciate me insinuating that our father cheated on their mother with mines but after a while the evidence was irrefutable, thanks to the DNA test.
“He’ll come around.” Will coaxed, looking at me with a sad expression.
Luckily for me, will accepted me with open arms and we tried to get together often. With his work schedule as a doctor and mine as an engineer, it was difficult but we made it work.
“But what if he doesn’t? He just sees me as a little brat.” I lamented.
Our introductions didn’t help when Jay and Will realized that I got the tall end of the stick when it came to life. I think Jay resented me for that, giving that their upbringing in the south side of Canaryville wasn’t exactly peaches and cream. I was fortunate that my father Charles was an accomplished engineer who worked his butt off for his wife and daughter and in turn had much to show for it. I do admit that I’m the typical daddy’s money, high maintenance, city girl but since becoming an engineer myself and taking over our Chicago office, I’ve really made a name for myself. Not that jay cared anyway. He couldn’t get past the boarding schools, the gifted penthouse or fancy car my father afforded me.
“Just give him some time. You know he already had a difficult relationships with dad, this just adds another pile of dirt to his grave.”
All I could do was shrug. Eventually, Will’s lunch break was over and I drove him back to Med before deciding to drink some problems away. It was fuck it Friday after all. I ended up in a less than impressive establishment somewhere near the south side, drinking my worries of never having a relationship with my oldest brother away.
“Double scotch” a voice said beside me at the bar.
I glanced sideways once to see a guy in a leather jacket sat next to me at the bar. Only there were plenty of open seats not directly next to me.
“The bar top is nearly empty, why the hell have you decided to sit next to me?” I asked the guy.
He looked over at me with a slight scowl before taking a drink.
“Definitely the company sweetheart.” He said sarcastically and downed the rest of his drink.
“You think you’re tough because you can shoot scotch?” I laughed.
“Beats that bottom shelf tequila you’re drinking.” He shrugged, motioning to the bartender for a refill. Intrigued, I motioned for one too.
As the drinks were brought over, I offered a cheers to the guy before shooting back a double scotch and nearly spitting it up.
“That’s fucking disgusting.” I choked, trying to will myself not to throw up.
“You got some balls kids. Hank.” He introduced.
“Charlie. Hank is such a terrible nickname, I’m assuming for Henry?”
“Yeah, you don’t really get to choose your nicknames. Charlie short for Charlotte?” He asked.
“Yeah. Well nice to meet you Henry.” I smirked, offering my hand.
“You too Lottie.” He laughed, returning the gesture.
We ended up at a booth slamming back liquor and making small talk. Thankfully, we never asked any questions about each other besides our names and mostly complained about Hockey.
“Fuck, I better head out. Didn’t realize how late it was getting.” I groaned, seeing as it was almost 2 am.
“Nothing but sketchy cabs at this time sweetheart. C’mon, you’re better off taking my couch.” Henry motioned as he closed out the both of our tabs and grabbed my arm.
“A little forward don’t you think?” I laughed, stepping outside into the cold Chicago weather.
“You wish.” He smirked with a roll of his eyes and offering me his jacket. I gladly excepted as we trudged our way through the streets until I found my car.
“What about my car.” I whined. He stopped in his tracks, turning his head toward my vehicle.
“Get in, you can park it in front of my house.” He informed me as I happily handed over my keys and got into the passengers seat.
“Don’t crash her.” I warned.
“Don’t worry, I don’t want to know what it would cost to replace her if I did.” He laughed.
Before I knew it, I was climbing the stairs to his house and happily kicking my way out of my shoes.
“You can take my room.” He told me, pushing me towards the staircase.
“Not necessary, just give me a blanket and I will happily crash on your couch.”
“What kind of gentleman would I be if I let you do that sweetheart?” He smirked.
“The kind who really doesn’t want me to climb anymore stairs after shooting scotch.” I laughed, making my way to the couch and getting comfy.
Seeing as it was nearly 3 am at this point, I set an alarm and began to get ready to knock out.
“Here’s a blanket and a hoodie and sweats you can sleep in.” He told me, coming back from the upstairs in a t-shirt and sweatpants. He looked good casual.
“You’re the best. Turn around, I’m too lazy to walk to your bathroom.” I informed him, before slinging his leather jacket back to him and stripping down.
“Stripping down on the first date?” He laughed.
“You wish Henry. I never did catch your last name.” I asked, finishing my task and walking towards him.
I touched his shoulder as he knew it was safe to look at me and turned around. He didn’t reply but pointed to the inscription on his hoodie.
“Last names Voight sweetheart.”
“I’m Charlotte Lahey. Nice to meet you Henry Voight.”

hi. tell me about the roommates au pretty please?
hii so i completely forgot about this but i'm gonna ramble now so buckle up (also shout out to anon that also asked about this au)
so. there's a block of flats called albatross apartments where all the riptide pirates (alphonse and gryffon, old man earl, john, ichabod, queen, etc) live, including some npcs that were never officially crew members (the three sisters from desire island, roofus and amber, ollie and his mum, etc). chip, jay and gill share one such flat. technically chip owns his, but jay and gill moved in once he realised he couldn't afford it on his own (which is how they met)
backstories time:
chip was found on the streets at a very young age by the black rose gang, a group of criminals. he surprisingly had a good childhood, with the gang stepping out of the criminal world for a short while and even taking in another abandoned kid. but one day, after chip and elizabeth had been left home while the gang went out for whatever reason, the police kicked down the door and put the kids into the system. chip later learned that there had been some sort of gang rivalry that resurfaced and caused the majority of the black rose gang to be sent to jail (rose died in the combat and finn was sent into a coma, but chip doesn't know that). the two were separated and chip had a rough childhood from that point onwards, getting involved in a gang himself during his last years of school, before finishing school with passing grades and deciding to not do anything with his life until he found out what happened to the black rose gang, as no news source seems to tell the full story. he went through several menial jobs before settling as a bartender at the or-inn-ge and renting a flat in albatross apartments. soon he realised it was too expensive to live there alone, so advertised for roommates, which is how he met jay and then gillion
jay grew up in a house of rules and expectations. to try and escape from her sister's shadow, she took on many extracurricular activities like archery and sea cadets, and planned to follow in family tradition and join the navy once she left school. these plans were abandoned once ava died in a freak accident at sea. after a few gap years to let herself mourn, jay secretly pursued an engineering apprenticeship and left home with no word to her father and only a brief goodbye to her mother the moment she found out she'd been accepted. she knew she wouldn't be able to afford her own place, so she looked for people searching for roommates. chip's offer was the cheapest (though she always told him she picked it cause it seemed the friendliest) so she applied and chip quickly accepted (what luck that this girl had the same surname as one of the black rose gang). from that point on, she acted as a sisterly figure, often urging chip to stop chasing the past and start focusing on the present and future instead, maybe even apply for some uni courses
gillion was raised in a deeply religious environment and sent off to a religious boarding school at a young age, essentially raised apart from his sister. the school taught him the "correct" morals and beliefs, with high emphasis placed on lying as a sin. he only saw edyn on the holidays, which is when she gave him pretzel, a crocheted frogtopus (an animal they'd invented when they were really young). once he graduated, he went on to a religious university, but he was kicked out after verbally attacking a teacher for some views he didn't agree with. he had nowhere to go, with his family refusing to associate with him, and so drifted from place to place for a short while, until he by chance spotted an ad for roommates in a local paper. he went to be interviewed, in which chip lied about certain things in order to appeal to this individual with deep religious trauma (even if gill didn't quite realise at the time),and also because again what are the chance of a tidestrider literally turning up at his door. he moved in and began to take an interest in philosophy and ethics, realising slowly how his religion was wrong about many things. he then began studying philosophy at a uni level
now this au does include ships, so jay meets lizzie on a dating app and they begin seeing each other, which is how lizzie and chip manage to reunite (it's very awkward meeting his lost sister at the same time as meeting his best friend's girlfriend. he's not quite sure who to threaten on the other's behalf). lizzie's studying law btw because she's an icon like that
i'm yet to decide if i wanna make it scarlet captains, but jaz will be there, studying music and flirting with chip whenever they bump into each other at the or-inn-ge
other ways npcs are included:
abigail and julian are chip's coworkers at the or-inn-ge and they're also engaged and have become integrated in the friend group
ichabod, as well as living in the apartment building, is jay's coworker, though he's no longer an apprentice, he's more a mentor
clorten is gill's classmate, also studying philosophy, but more focused on ethics (especially the morality of gambling and casinos wink wink)
caspian goes to gill's uni so they're friends, but he's studying literature and creative writing (this also makes it more awkward when lizzie turns up because gill's already heard of her)
anastasia is jay's ex-fling
i've already mentioned ollie and his mum, but chip's gotten into the habit of chatting to ollie as he walks to the bus stop. ollie's mum is suspicious of chip but it makes ollie happy so she doesn't complain
already mentioned earl, but he's chip's boss as well as neighbour
queen also studies music and is jaz's classmate, but the albatrio find queen annoying as they live next door and sing really loudly but only parts of songs
edyn will appear at some point when she gets a job at the or-inn-ge and chip realises who she is
goobleck is a dog that either belongs to someone in the building or just manages to get inside, cause he always seems to be somewhere nearby
i think that's all of the important things for now. OH and drey's prison sentence is shorter than arlin's cause arlin took the fall for most of what happened, so drey is reintroduced first and then they find out where finn is and he wakes up. essentially what happened to the black rose gang was that niklaus called rose out to fulfil an old deal they made and didn't take kindly to rose and the gang trying to refuse. rose died and the others were injured, finn more seriously than most, though drey lost function of his arms. niklaus is a wealthy businessman who dabbles in crime, so he paid the papers to stay quiet about what happened, hence why chip only learns the truth when drey is released
this is one of my favourite aus to be honest

Seemed fitting for the day...
Feel free to share what you think these stories should be about, here’s my plot so far:
Mary works in a nursing home. There's been an elderly patient called Luisa that she has been taking care of over the last six months. Luisa's granddaughter, Shannon, is coming back from her trip around the world, in the first week of January — she's been to all the places her grandmother wished she could have visited and has sent photos that have been decorating the walls of the hospital bedroom. That's how Mary recognises Shannon the first time she sees her in the lobby.
Shannon spends much of her time with her grandmother, sometimes they ask Mary to join them in her free time to play a game with them or to watch Grey's Anatomy that Luisa absolutely loves watching and criticising.  Luisa feels like Shannon and Mary could get along well. Her own personal mission will be to set them up on a date for Valentine's Day, she lets Shannon's sister, Ava, know about her plan and of course Ava is in.
Mary shares an apartment with Lilith. They've known each other their whole life and they're the only loving family they've ever had. Suzanne is often with the two of them, she's in a band, The FBC, with Lilith, Adriel and Vincent.
Sadly, the band is threatened by Adriel and Vincent's divorce caused by Adriel's affair with Kristian. They both hired lawyers with a very good reputation but just like Vincent and Adriel can no longer stand each other, Jillian Salvius, Adriel's lawyer, and Francesco Duretti, Vincent's, absolutely despise each other.
A month before Valentine's Day, the band is supposed to play but Adriel has invited Kristian so Vincent refuses to play and leaves. Adriel leaves too because there's no point to this band anymore. Lilith and Suzanne have to improvise a whole show just the two of them. They turned out to be pretty good without the boys.
After the show, Chanel, the bartender, offers Lilith to join her for a drink. Suzanne tells her to go have fun and that she’ll take care of their stuff. Lilith is suddenly very shy with Chanel and Chanel thinks it’s charming. Meanwhile, Jillian sneaks backstage to meet Suzanne. First of all, because she wants to meet the person who's been mentioned so many times by both Adriel and Vincent, but most of all, and she won't admit it,  because that was a hell of a show and Jillian isn't unaffected by Suzanne's charm. Except Suzanne doesn't want anything to do with Adriel's lawyer; she has never gotten along with Adriel. Jillian doesn't like this egotistical sexist megalomaniac guy either but she doesn't have to like her clients, she only loves the paychecks Adriel gives her. Jillian asks Suzanne out that night because she could use the company herself and she thinks Suzanne could use a drink and someone to vent to.
Hans is a photographer but since it doesn't pay his rent he’s working at Chanel's bar. On shown nights he's the one in charge of photography. One day, Yasmine, a museology student, reaches out to him. She needs to set a whole exhibition to graduate, her project is to mix different forms of art. Of course Hans is in. He mentions his roommate, Beatrice, who's all shy and nerdy and really good at drawing. He suggests they'd mix photos and painting and Yasmine is down with it! Her own roommate, Camila, could animate the photos-paintings so they could also play with audiovisual material. They have artists, they need models now.
They hang up flyers at uni and Michael and Todd, both friends from the book club, think it could be fun to join this project. Michael tells Ava, his best friend, to tag along. She wants to be a costume designer and who knows, they might need one. They do need one and everyone is crazy about the project.
JC, Chanel's annoying but charming little brother, comes back from his trip to Europe. They use him as a model. He’s a bit of a bad boy but once you get to know him, you realise he truly cares a lot about people. He learns that Michael has been struggling with something at uni (grades? Motivation? Bullying?) and offers to help. JC wishes Michael could get the hint that he's interested in him but Michael's blind.
Beatrice and Ava work a lot together for the costumes. Ava is impressed by Beatrice's knowledge. They do plenty of research about textiles and designs to better match the project. They go shopping together on different occasions and Beatrice starts opening up more.
Hans and Yasmine are obviously getting along very well and when Camila has had enough of third wheeling, she goes to the only other person who doesn’t seem to work in duo: Todd. He makes her laugh and he’s hot, Camila wonders if they could be friends.
They want to work on a special Valentine's Day project. Chanel is throwing a theme party for Valentine's Day and she lets them have the back room to offer a quick photoshoot to people in the bar. Ava, with the help of her grandmother, asks Shannon to show up with a date to help with their project. Shannon asks Mary to be her fake date because she's the only person she knows that she would want to hang out with, and because her grandmother didn’t leave her much of a choice. Lilith will be there to spend the night with Chanel, although she’d be busy with customers. She asks Suzanne to come for moral support, just in case it goes wrong and because Lilith is very unsure of herself. Suzanne has plans with Jillian but Jillian agrees to come along, she just wants to spend some time with Suzanne and it could be a fun night. There’s a big what the fuck are you doing here moment between mother and son when they bump into each other at the bar that night.
Vincent asks Suzanne to be his character witness during one of the hearings for the divorce and Suzanne can't say no to her oldest friend. She tells Jillian and Jillian is very uncomfortable because she can’t not go to the hearing and she doesn't want to go all boss bitch on Suzanne and she also doesn't want to risk losing her case to Duretti. Tough choice to make.

"I Double Dare You" "The Guarneres Reminisce About the Peeping Tom of Aldebourne"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*Author's note: This story came from my imagination. Warning: Small scene with smut.*
***********************************************************************
One autumn evening in 1945, as Bill and Leigh were seated on the couch listening to the radio, lyrics from one song made Leigh laugh. She told him,
"That reminds me of Aldebourne. Honey, do you remember the peeping tom that had the village in a bit of an uproar?" Guarnere chuckled,
"I sure do, Baby. That's (he pronounced the word as "dats") when I thought he was spyin' on us the day we had the picnic."
*****************************************************************
Training was over for the day on a Friday in May, 1943. The men of Easy Company were looking forward to having a much needed break the following day.
Since the men knew in advance about their day off, Leigh planned a picnic for herself and Bill. She made sandwiches from homemade Italian sausage and homemade bread. Spencer found some onions and garlic in the farmers' market in the village that would be cooked with the sausage.
Bill bought a good, relatively inexpensive bottle of red wine from Andrew Herriott, the owner and bartender of The Blue Boar. Leigh improvised a primitive type of antipasto from vegetables and some ham that was sold in the farmers' market. She also had a few apples and some freshly baked pizzelles.
*****************************************************************
One month before the picnic, American servicemen stationed in the Aldebourne area, the girls they dated and a few residents of the village became concerned about a peeping tom.
A soldier from Dog Company and his date thought that someone was spying on them. One week later, the same thing happened to a soldier from Charlie Company and his date. Both couples had been enjoying each other's company in a secluded pasture on a country lane.
On both occasions, when the men looked around the pasture, there was no sign of a peeping tom. The young women refused to go out with the soldiers again until the peeping tom was apprehended. The servicemen who had to wait until the suspect was nabbed by the village constable were extremely eager for this person to be caught.
Two local sisters, the Taylors, sold their parents' farm after the deaths of their mother and father. They moved into a stone cottage not far from Leigh's and Melissa's house in the village. Both women were in their early 30s and were attractive and shapely with brown hair and blue eyes.
One evening, as the eldest sister, Jean, was locking the front door, getting ready to go to bed, her younger sister, Ava, was in her downstairs bedroom. Ava preferred to sleep with the window open for fresh air. She kept the blind pulled halfway down the window for privacy.
Standing with her back to the window, Ava removed her clothing and put on a nightgown. She was planning to put her clothes into a hamper that was close to her bed when she heard the sound of footsteps outside her window.
Ava thought that someone was walking home from one of the pubs and thought nothing of the incident. She placed the clothes in the hamper and was on her way to turning off the light in her room when she froze in her tracks.
The sound of heavy breathing was unmistakable and it seemed to be outside her window. Ava went to a closet and got out her father's shotgun, sticking the barrel out of the open window. She startled Jean by shouting,
"Get away from here, you pervert or I'll shoot your bollocks (balls) off!" The sound of heavy footsteps walking away relieved Ava. Jean came into her room, asking,
"Did you see who it was? Are you OK?" Jean learned that Ava didn't see the heavy breather and that she was unharmed. She told her younger sister,
"Good job you have Father's gun and you know how to use it. I don't think we need to worry about being bothered again. Even if this peeping tom isn't in his right mind, he isn't mad (crazy) enough to risk losing his bollocks." Jean went to her bedroom and both women were soon asleep.
Early the next evening when Bill arrived for supper, Jean introduced herself and said that she was coming to speak to Leigh. Guarnere opened the door for her, telling Spencer,
"Sweetheart, Miss Taylor, the lady from next door want to talk wit'ya." Leigh welcomed Jean into the house and asked her to have a seat in the living room. Spencer offered her visitor a cup of tea and Jean accepted it. After Leigh made the tea and brought in a tray with cups, milk, the tea pot, and napkins, she served her guest, herself and Bill some tea. She told her neighbor,
"I'm sorry that I don't have lemon slices and sugar. Lemons are hard to find and sugar rationing is taking its toll." Taylor smiled, commenting,
"It's fine. We've the same situation at our house and we're all doing our bit for the war effort." She took her tea with a small amount of milk. Guarnere and Spencer preferred their tea without milk.
Jean told Bill and Leigh about her sister's experience with the peeping tom and asked the couple if they had heard or seen anything the previous evening.
Both Guarnere and Spencer said that they noticed nothing out of the ordinary. Leigh told Jean,
"We were listening to the radio. Sorry, the wireless, and the blinds were down, so we didn't see anything." Then, Jean laughed, telling them what her sister said to the stranger outside her window. Leigh laughed and Bill asked,
"No disrespect intended, but what are ya callin' 'bollocks'" Jean slightly blushed,
"It's male anatomy, two, erm...items." Bill laughed as he realized what Jean meant.
"I'm not laughin' at ya, Miss Taylor, I never heard 'em called that name before. You ladies ain't got nothin' to worry about. A man doesn't wanna lose important parts like that."
"That's what I told my sister."
"I'll keep an eye on your place. If you ladies ever need help, just call Leigh an' I'll be glad to help ya." Spencer wrote down the telephone number and handed it to Jean. She thanked Bill and Leigh, then left while she could still have enough light to feel safe walking outside. Guarnere offered to walk her home if she was scared, but Jean assured him that she was fine.
The following day, news of the heavy breathing outside the neighbor's window made its way through the village. Colonel Sink decided to send a few servicemen to help patrol the village with the constable. The soldiers who were denied recreation with their girlfriends until the peeping tom was caught eagerly volunteered.
One month later, the colonel decided to discontinue the servicemen's patrolling of the village. The constable and Sink thought that the peeping tom was discouraged from his activities due to the inclusion of soldiers who were being trained to fight in the war.
The following weekend, one soldier and his girlfriend were sitting under a tree near a rural property lined by a fence and some trees. While the couple began to remove a few items of each other's clothing, the young woman heard someone walking near the fence line that was obscured by trees.
She looked up and was startled to see a shock of red hair. Then, she noticed brown eyes gazing back at her. She screamed and her boyfriend immediately put on his uniform shirt. He told her,
"Stay here, I'm gonna teach this guy a lesson he won't forget." As the young woman buttoned her blouse and tucked it into her skirt, the soldier walked toward the fence, loudly saying,
"Clear out of here, buddy, or you're asking for trouble." He heard the sound of someone walking away from the fence line. By the time the soldier climbed over the fence, there was no sign of the peeping tom, only cattle standing in the field.
His girlfriend was in no mood to return to their previous activities and she insisted upon going home. As they walked to the village she said,
"He must have been very short because his eyes looked to be at the level of a child." Her boyfriend replied,
"He was probably bending over to peer through the leaves." Word soon spread throughout the area that the mysterious "peeper," the name given by the residents of the village, was a "ginger" (red hair), having unkempt, long hair and brown eyes.
******************************************************************""
On the day of the picnic, Leigh packed the food into a large basket along with cloth napkins, two plates, two wine glasses and a medium sized blanket. She wore a red day dress, along with the usual undergarments, stockings and a pair of low heeled black pumps commonly called 'flats.'
Spencer brushed her hair, touched up her make up and reapplied her red lipstick. Bill soon arrived with the bottle of red wine. He insisted on carrying the large picnic basket. They left the cottage and held hands as they walked on a road leading from the village to a secluded country lane.
Neither Guarnere nor Spencer had been in this area before. Leigh told Bill that the lane reminded her of home.
"If this is where ya wanna have the picnic, Sweetheart, it's fine wit' me. Let's look for a nice, quiet spot in case we wanna get up to somethin' later."
"In case we want to get up to somethin'? Are you falling out of love with me already, Sergeant Guarnere?" Bill noticed the impish twinkle in her eyes and he grinned.
"Ain't no danger o' that happenin', Baby. You got my heart for eternity. I love seein' ya in red. You look good enough to eat."
"Is that a promise? " she slightly blushed before adding, "I mean the part about 'eating.'" Guarnere had a wicked grin as he said,
"Oh, I guarantee it. You ain't the only one enjoyin' it. You taste so damn good!"
"Bill, not so loud, a farmer might be working close by."
"I'm tellin' the truth. 'course I don't wanna encourage somebody to watch us. Sorry 'bout that. I'll try to keep it down so everybody don't know our business."
"Thanks, Honey. You're very good at that...you know what I mean."
"You bet I know!" Spencer laughed,
"Smart ass." They walked past a small house with a gate surrounding it. After passing the house, they went around a curve in the lane and found an ideal spot for the picnic and privacy.
An isolated pasture with three large trees was a short walk from the road. The pasture was lined on three sides of its perimeter by trees instead of fences.
Someone must have owned the pasture because the grass wasn't tall and choked with weeds. Bill looked around to see if there was a farm house tucked away within sight of the pasture.
He didn't see a house close by and he decided that this area had enough privacy for a picnic and some erotic activity. Bill and Leigh walked toward the trees in the center of the pasture.
They decided to sit under a large oak tree that was flanked by two other oak trees. A gentle breeze was blowing and they sat in the shade after they spread the blanket on the ground.
Leigh unpacked the picnic basket, setting out the food, plates, silverware, napkins and two wine glasses. Bill got the bottle opener and the bottle of red wine out of the basket. He opened the wine bottle and poured some wine in each glass.
Guarnere grinned as he noticed the sandwiches.
"Homemade bread an' homemade Italian sausage. It smells great! You're one hell of a good cook." He stopped himself from saying what he thought, "You'll be a perfect wife, Sweetheart" Bill didn't think it was the right time to propose to Leigh. Although he was fairly sure that she would agree to marry him, he thought it best to wait and find out how she really felt about marriage.
Leigh got out a dish with a small lid and opened it,
"I made a kind of makeshift antipasto from your mom's recipe. I hope it turned out OK."
Guarnere got a fork and put some of the antipasto on his plate. He sampled it.
"This reminds me o' Ma's cookin'. You done a good job wit' this, Baby." Leigh was pleased that he liked the side dish. They enjoyed the sandwiches and they casually talked while they ate their lunch.
Leigh got out a small box and opened it.
"How about a few pizzelles, Honey? If you don't feel like having cookies I brought apples, too." Bill got two cookies out of the box,
"You're spoilin' me, Sweetheart. Ya shouldn't have gone to so much trouble."
"It was no trouble at all. I like to make your favorite dishes." Spencer laughed at Guarnere sneaking another cookie out of the box.
"Eat as much as you want. I won't slap your hand if you want another cookie. I saved the sugar rations to make them."
"I gotta keep my cookie swipin' in good shape for when we get back home. It's kind of a joke wit' me an' Ma. When I was a kid, she wanted to make sure everybody got equal amounts o' food.
Pizzelles have always been my favorite. I'd eat two of 'em real fast. When Ma wasn't lookin', I'd swipe a few more. One time, when I was real little, Maria an' Teresa were watchin' me so I wouldn't get into the cookies.
I started cryin' 'cause I wanted another cookie. They felt sorry for me, an' they said,
'Oh, the poor baby! He must be hungry.' Then they each gave me half a pizzelle. I made out like a bandit an' I showed those dirty (he pronounced the word as 'doity') rats. I was smart, like a fox." Leigh giggled at the story,
"How many times did that work for you?"
"Just a couple o'times. Ma got a real kick out o'it, so I didn't get in trouble." He noticed that Spencer's glass was empty.
"Would ya like a little more o' the wine?"
"Yes, just a little bit. It's really good."
"The guy at The Blue Boar said this was a nice red wine. It ain't bad. I think I'll have a little more, too." Guarnere poured the wine. He leaned back against the tree. Leigh moved back to sit with him and Bill put his arm around her shoulders.
They sipped the wine and relaxed, enjoying the sunshine and the peaceful pasture. When they finished the wine, Bill decided to recline on the blanket. He rested his head on Leigh's lap.
She stroked his hair and had her arms around him. Guarnere reached up and gently pulled her close for a kiss. The kiss quickly deepened and he sucked the tip of her tongue into his mouth.
Bill reluctantly broke off the kiss,
"Stretch out beside me, Baby. It'll be easier than bendin' down to kiss me. He moved aside and Leigh lay beside him. Guarnere put his arms around her and the kissing resumed.
They enjoyed the slow, sensual kisses. Leigh sighed into Bill's mouth as his tongue explored her mouth.
Guarnere moved his hands down to Spencer's hips, pulling her as close to him as possible. He paused to kiss her eyelids, then he gently nipped at her ear before kissing her neck.
Bill loved the little gasp from Leigh when his lips touched the soft skin on her neck. He unbuttoned the top button of her day dress, kissing every inch of exposed skin as he unbuttoned the next button on her dress.
Leigh was caressing Bill's back, loving the feeling of his lips on her skin.
"If you keep this up, I'll be tempted to strip off everything and ask you to make love to me. We've never done it outdoors." Guarnere found the idea extremely arousing.
"I love the way you're kinda wild. Sweetheart, I don't wanna disappoint ya, but I didn't bring anything' wit' me for protection, 'cause I wasn't sure if ya would wanna make love outdoors."
"You're not disappointing me, Bill. I'm sure we can think of something. How about I do what you promised to do for me? I enjoy it, and I need to practice so I can be good at pleasing you that way."
"Only if ya really wanna do it, Baby. I don't want ya to think ya have to do that."
"I love all of you, and you taste pretty damned good, too."
"Then, I'm all yours. Do whatever ya want wit' me. Seems like I was gettin' ready to do somethin'..." He moved down and started to slowly trail kisses up Leigh's leg, moving her dress up a little.
Bill repeated the same actions on her other leg and Leigh felt herself becoming wet. She moved her dress up above her knees.
"Looks like my angel is tellin' me to move a little faster." He chuckled before kissing his way to her thigh. Leigh opened her legs slightly to accommodate him. Bill lowered his voice for only Leigh to hear,
"I think my beautiful baby is already nice an' wet. I'm gonna enjoy takin' those panties off so I can taste you." He moved her dress up further and licked the silk fabric between her legs.
" Baby, you taste good!" Bill sucked her silk covered clit.
"Oh, my God! That feels wonderful." Guarnere continued sucking her clit. A few minutes later, Leigh came. Bill enjoyed her sounds of passion. He began to remove her panties.
Suddenly, she heard the sounds of heavy footsteps near the line of trees in front of them. Keeping her voice down, she told Guarnere,
"Somebody is on the other side of those trees." Bill turned away, to rearrange himself in his trousers to hide the sign of his arousal and swore under his breath. Spencer quickly pulled her dress down to cover herself.
"Where did ya hear the noise, Baby?" She pointed to the trees closest to them. Bill looked in the direction Leigh was pointing, keeping his voice low as he told her,
"I don't wanna scare ya, but I see some brown eyes an' red hair. That guy almost has hair in his eyes. He must be a nut. No wonder he's watchin', no girl would go out wit' somebody lookin' that bad. I know one thing, his peepin' days are over!"
Guarnere got up and quietly approached the area where the peeping tom stood. Leigh followed behind him, not feeling afraid since Bill was with her. She was angry that the peeper spied on them and she was ready to give him a piece of her mind.
Bill used a type of hand signal that was becoming second nature to him. He had his right hand, palm down, pushing in a downward motion.
"What does that mean?"
"It means stand down, stay back. Sorry, Baby, we've been learnin' all sorts o' hand signals lately." All at once, a large tongue appeared from behind a branch. Guarnere replied,
"What the hell...?" Leigh started laughing,
"It's a cow!"
Tumblr media
She moved a small branch and revealed the face of a bovine absorbed in eating a few leaves. Leigh quickly looked down, wanting to see the underside of the animal so she would know if it was a cow or a bull. Bill told her,
"I see horns on that thing. It's a bull. I may be from the city, but I know bulls are dangerous. We gotta get movin'!"
"Cows can have horns, too. I looked at its undercarriage, so to speak, and I saw udders. You're right, bulls aren't something to mess with. If I'd seen something else, I would've kicked off these shoes so I could run faster and told you to run like hell." She looked at the cow, still munching on leaves,
"I wonder if this is the local peeper. Think about it, the cow has shaggy red hair and brown eyes. It walks with a sort of heavy step and sometimes cows sound as if they're doing some heavy breathing."
"You might be on to somethin', Sweetheart. It makes sense. No wonder nobody saw the guy when they went lookin' for him. A cow standin' in a field ain't an unusual sight around here. How can we prove what you said?" Leigh thought about a solution and carefully went through the branches to get closer to the cow.
"This always worked when one of my grandpa's cows got out of the fenced in pasture or if he was trying to get the cows into the barn to milk them." She gently swatted the cow's rump, telling it,
"Go home!" The cow turned around and started walking away. Leigh followed it,
"Don't worry about the basket and the blanket, we can get it later. Let's follow the cow home and we can talk to the farmer. Once you're in this pasture, remember to look down frequently or you could have fresh cow pie on your boots.
Cows 'go' whenever and wherever the notion strikes them, and there might be several smelly 'land mines' scattered around." Bill chuckled, thanking Leigh for her tip.
"I learned somethin' new today. Too bad we never had the chance to get Sobel in this field an' not tell him about those land mines. It would have been funny as hell to see his boots covered in cow shit." He took Leigh's hand as they walked across the pasture.
As they strolled toward the barn, Bill noticed a man who appeared to be in his late 60s walking toward the cow. The tall, slightly heavy set man was bald with a fringe of white hair and blue eyes. He wore sturdy boots, well worn brown trousers, suspenders and a light brown shirt rolled up to expose his sun tanned arms. Both Bill and Leigh heard the man say,
"So there you are, Delilah. I see you broke out of the barnyard again. I've half a mind to sell you next market day." He noticed the American soldier and presumably his girlfriend approaching him, asking,
"Young man, are you and your young lady lost?" Guarnere smiled,
"Sir, my name is Bill Guarnere, Sergeant Guarnere, an' this is my girl, Leigh Spencer. No, Sir, we ain't lost." The man introduced himself to the couple,
"My name is James Alderson and this is my farm. If you don't mind my asking, why are you following my cow?" Leigh grinned,
"This will sound as if I'm crazy. Have you heard about the local peeping tom? I have reason to believe that your cow could be the 'peeper'." Alderson looked a bit puzzled,
'Yes, I know about the peeper. Why do you think Delilah is the perpetrator?"
"Mr. Alderson, as you know, the peeper is supposed to have unruly red hair and brown eyes. Delilah wasn't in your pasture when she made her presence known during the picnic we were having.
The peeping tom is supposed to have a heavy footed walk and is also known for heavy breathing. I grew up in a rural area of Ohio and I'm familiar with cattle. I'm guessing the heavy breathing is Delilah sort of snorting, for lack of a better word.
Does she have a habit of getting out of your pasture?" Alderson considered what Spencer told him, then he started to chuckle. The chuckle grew into loud laughter as he said,
"I never dreamed that my cow would cause havoc in the village." He laughed again, "She flummoxed the constable. He couldn't find a man and even got some of you Yank soldiers to help find the elusive peeper." He opened a gate to the barnyard and Delilah walked in, heading for some food in the barn. Before the cow got past him, Alderson patted her back and chuckled,
"You made quite a stir." Then, he answered Leigh's question, "Yes, Delilah has a bad habit of getting out of the fenced in area near the barn. She likes an occasional stroll in the village, too." Spencer asked,
"There were no peeping tom reports for a month, did you find a way to keep her at home?"
"I kept Delilah in the barn during that time. It seemed the perfect solution to her escaping, but she was unhappy. She didn't eat as much as she normally did. I rang (called) a veterinarian, thinking she was ill.
He said that she was depressed, not physically ill. I never realized that cows could feel depressed. The doctor also told me that she's getting out because she's looking for companionship. Delilah should be very happy next week, I'm getting her bred with a bull who lives down the road." Bill made Leigh blush a bit when he asked Alderson,
"In other words, Sir, are ya sayin' that she's lookin' for some action? I know I'm happier..." he noticed that Leigh was blushing and decided to leave well enough alone, adding, "Never mind, Sir, I'm talkin' too much." Alderson tried to suppress a grin as he figured out why Spencer was embarrassed.
"Yes, that's another way of saying the same thing. No harm done, Sergeant Guarnere. If you or your young lady see Delilah again, just send her home. I'm going into the village to speak with the constable and clear up this peeper situation.
Would you and your young lady like a lift into town? My vehicle isn't working at the moment, so I'm taking my horse and wagon." Both Guarnere and Spencer thanked Alderson, declining the ride back to the village. Bill replied,
"We appreciate ya offerin' to take us into town, but we need to get the picnic basket an' some other stuff. It ain't that much of a walk." Alderson excused himself in order to go to the barn and get the wagon and horses ready for the trip into the village.
Bill and Leigh left the farm and went back to retrieve their items from the picnic before they walked back to the house Leigh shared with Melissa. Residents of the village were relieved to learn that the peeper situation was over and they were amused to learn that a cow straying from her pasture was their suspect. Leigh was jokingly called "Sherlock Holmes" and "Cowgirl" by George Luz since she figured out the identity of the peeping tom.
***********************************************************************
After Bill and Leigh finished reminiscing about the peeper, Bill told Leigh,
"I had another run in wit' a cow in Normandy. The krauts shot a cow on some guy's farm. We were hungry an' a guy from C Company was fightin' wit' us. He got separated from his unit an' he tagged along until he caught up wit' 'em again.
This kid grew up on a farm an' he said we could eat some fresh beef instead o' those lousy rations. He told us that he would dress the cow an' then we could start cookin' the meat.
I didn't know he was talking' about cuttin' up the carcass for meat. I thought he was nuts an' he was gonna try to put a dress on the cow." Leigh laughed,
"Was the meat good?"
"It was real good, but we had to be careful eatin' because there was a lot o' shrapnel in it. We cooked it over a fire we built. I wonder if that guy got back home?"
"I hope he got back. I'm glad you got home, you're somethin' else, Honey. Even if you did tell Mr. Alderson that we were sleeping together." Guarnere smirked,
"Are ya telling' me you don't feel happier after gettin' up to somethin'?"
"Of course I feel happier, you adorable smart ass!" Bill winked at her,
"That's my baby!"
*Author's note: The story of the cow in Normandy came from Bill's and Babe's book. I paraphrased the story. The story about Bill's older brother and sisters giving him extra cookies is true. I changed it from doughnuts to cookies. The quotes about "Oh, the poor baby" and "Smart like a fox also came from his book.*

What college degrees do you think Ava and Bea would get? Personally I think Ava would get like a psychology or become a therapist because she knows the pains of abuse and would want to help others. And while the logical for Bea would be like theology or religious studies I can see her working towards becoming a neurosurgeon or something because she’s always the best and perfect at everything and that’s like the hardest thing to become
omg yes i completely agree with you on both of these!!! i could def see ava looking for an occupation that involves talking to people (like she loved being a bartender cause she could casually make convo w ppl) and would want to actively listen and try to help them with advices and encouragement. i could also see her working in social service. but not under a system bc she knows how cruel and unjust those things are so she makes sure to directly go to the families and children to find them the best homes. even go as far as actually getting to know each of the kids while also actively working at an orphanage and managing the staff who works there (she would ask camila to run a thorough bg check online). like i feel like her being the purest fucking heart there is would just want to help others in the best way she can. on the other hand i also feel like ava is an animal lover and she would volunteer her off days going to shelters and just hang out with them. she would also convince beatrice to foster dogs and cats (she impulsively does this fjnfj) also also i dont really think ava is someone who tries hard in school but somehow always gets the best grade jfnrjnd shes just naturally smart like that
now beatrice who excels in all things scholar, trades, and abilities would absolutely go for one of the hardest and challenging degree one can go for thus med school jfnfjjf. like we already know how dedicated she is when it comes to her craft so i could def see her spending most of her time and focus studying and practicing to become one the the top neurosurgeon in the world. as for theology i do think she would study this but maybe in hopes that she can start un-learning all the negative implications of this religion but appreciate it for its deep history instead idk? i could also see her maybe being a professor??? she loves education and correcting people with her stacked knowledge jfnjf i feel like she could be getting a masters in education and teach either theology, history or linguistics in an ivy league school

Thoughts on WN S2
Heavy spoilers, as I have no self control and ended up just clicking ‘next’ until I ended up finishing the whole thing.
A SUPER long post below the cut
So, I can’t tell if it’s the extreme fatigue that I’m experiencing due to lack of sleep (which I’m sure plays a part in it) but I have mixed feelings on season 2. I’ll just ramble some points off
Avatrice
I will get straight to it, I thought it was pretty great content, they really fed us this season. Straight off the bat, they knew who was the main ship and they really leaned into it for S2 and we were rewarded with so many good scenes. From the build up of jealousy (not just from Bea, but also bits from Ava), to the fact that they shared so much screen time together (probably moreso together than apart), it really was a bonanza of Avatrice in literally almost every episode.
Bea not getting drunk before and Ava like “oh hell yes, lets get you effed up! shots shots shots!” was pretty fun, but it was even funnier how Beatrice didn’t even seem that drunk after the whole bar scene ended. Like, girl, if you never drink more than a couple sips of wine, how did you not get at least a little sick or dizzy after all those shots and then proceeded to kick butt like nothing happened?
but also, that bar scene!!
and also oh my god, they were roommates.
When did Ava learn to bartend? (random thought)
So, so many moments between these two. Ava falling and hitting the floor and Beatrice cradling her in her arms, it was almost like true love brought her back (lol) but eh, it’s the halo. They’re unstoppable together!
Beatrice constantly worried for Ava’s training and battle-readiness, because Warrior Nuns don’t get to live long lives and this thought probably weighs heavy on her mind constantly.
Beatrice really struggling with her own convictions for the first time and telling Ava to run and hide so that she can just be safe, because Bea would rather be apart than see Ava fall in battle. It’s about keeping the halo safe, yes, but it’s moreso about keeping Ava safe.
Camila having her talk with Beatrice about being terrible at lying. Lol, Camila knows, she’s always known.
We got a kiss!!
Their goodbyes by the portal was so sad, and they both got to say I love you, but Ava didn’t hear it back. Ava is now floating for who knows how many years in the beyond, not having actually heard Beatrice return her words. And yeah I know, she already knows how Bea feels since they kissed, but still, that hurts.
Action scenes were awesome. I really enjoyed the choreography for the fights, and the episodes that had those extended shots felt very dynamic and exciting. There was also a lot more gore and dismemberment this season (or at least it feels that way) and I don’t remember S1 being like that, but honestly I like the level of violence in this season, as the stakes felt higher and tone of the show overall darker and more urgent.
Back to the tone, I like how this season felt darker and more sinister. The fear in the cemetery legitimately scared me for a sec when Michael’s face changed. I was not expecting that. and then Camila’s hallucinations with Adriel felt very unnerving. And the uncertainty of not knowing who was siding with Adriel created a truly anxious atmosphere. Great stuff.
Sweet, sweet Camila going from rookie to coming into her own. I was worried for a bit that Adriel would capitalize on her insecurity of constantly being the young one, but she fought back and weaponized it against him, which was awesome. Her transforming into somewhat of a mentor to Yasmine was also great to see. Plus I mean c’mon, Camila with a gun? Camila with a wrist-mounted crossbow? Sign me up!
Mother Superion! We got more backstory! We got that psyche out (honestly if she didn’t make it, I was going to riot). I’m glad she got that moment with the halo bringing her back after enduring so much burden and regret over her past actions. She also had some super badass fight scenes and overall Sylvia De Fanti’s acting was very standout for me.
Now here begins my rant
Now, I will say, the one thing that really, really bothered me was how they handled Shotgun Mary, and this particular point really left a sour taste in my mouth to the point that I almost didn’t even enjoy the Avatrice payoff at the end.
If she really is truly gone, they glossed over her death so POORLY. If that was the direction they were going to take, I would rather they have ended S1 with her heroically sacrificing herself and the sisters teleporting away so that we didn’t have to wait 2 FREAKING YEARS just to have a brief scene saying she’s gone?!? It was like dangling her fate in front of us and it was so cruel, with them knowing she was not returning for S2.
And like, the reactions of the sisters upon learning her downfall, the scenes were emotional, and heart wrenching, but then the next episode it was like NOTHING EVEN HAPPENED??? Ava was cracking jokes about going SIGHTSEEING??? Like, wtf??? I thought it would have had more impact, but all we got really was a line from Mother Superion about how they don’t have time to mourn the fallen??? It just, the handling of all that really rubbed me the wrong way.
and then the random introduction of Sister Dora at the end? Like they basically just replaced Shotgun Mary with another POC as if to say “oh it’s fine, here’s filling the quota with another person”. I don’t know. I just, it felt so tone deaf?? to me.
And then Lilith, I understand that her character in the comics (granted, I did not read very far) is not meant to necessarily be a hero, but just her going from hunting down Father Vincent, distraught over Mary, to then going to Adriel’s side? The side of the guy WHO WAS THE REASON MARY DIED? And to justify this decision, I get that Lilith is a complex character dealing with the expectations of her mom and not becoming the halo-bearer, but like, that scene with her mom was so brief, and I felt like it wasn’t new information that her parents were overbearing. It just felt like a throwaway scene to explain why Lilith would end up siding with Adriel. (also that kiss? I saw it coming a mile away and it still made me want to throw my phone). Lilith in general is one of my favorite characters, and for her to flip flop and end up siding with the enemy feels like a step back from where her trajectory was going in season 1 after she returned.
And then Adriel’s death???? DEATH BY TARASK STABBING? He was so powerful and yet he got surrounded by a handful of tarasks and couldn’t teleport away or something? Why didn’t Ava do this earlier? Did Reya give her the idea? Even if she didn’t, why try exploding the divinium bomb first before just summoning the tarasks?? I have so many questions, his death just felt so... undeserved.
Also how did the portal stay open after the cross was destroyed?
If Reya had been chasing the damn halo for CENTURIES, if it was right there in front of her, why did she let Ava keep it? The tarasks have been hunting that shit for forever, and Reya just... let her have it? maybe this plays a part in the future seasons, but like, right now it looked like a “thank you for saving me and destroying Adriel, you can keep it” kind of gesture, which is super wild to me.
WHEW.
Anyways, that was a lot more than I intended, but I just had a hard time sleeping because there were so many thoughts running through my head.
I want to like this season, and in many ways I did (the Avatrice content yo!!) but like, it just felt like there was a cloud hanging over it the whole time for me so I’m conflicted.

Shelter
“Here we are,” Beatrice says, holding out a key for Ava.  They’re on a side street, in front of an inconspicuous door to a nondescript building.  “The owner agreed to let me rent it week to week as long as I paid for the first month in advance.”
Ava unlocks the door and steps inside as Beatrice moves their suitcases.  The afternoon light is muted through the thick curtains covering all the windows.  The apartment is small but fully furnished.  The wallpaper isn’t very modern, and most of the furniture looks like it was from the previous century, but everything is serviceable.  Ava walks through the apartment, peering in all the rooms, then stops at the last one.  "This is it?"
"What's the problem?"
"There's only one bedroom."
Beatrice gives a forced smile to the floor.  "We really don't have much money."
Ava points.  "The bed is pretty small."
See, that’s the real problem.  Because they’ve spent far too much time together in recent weeks.  Maybe it’s the stress, or the proximity, or the constant exposure to each other.  Maybe it’s because Beatrice doesn’t let Ava go anywhere without her protector, so they’re always together.  Not that Ava minds.  She likes being with Beatrice.  Even if Beatrice does push her to be better, to try harder, to practice just one more time.
So Ava doesn’t know how she feels about sharing a bed with Beatrice.  Sometimes she catches herself watching Beatrice, the way she moves with hidden power even when walking across a room, the way her lips form Ava’s name when she says it in that slightly exasperated tone.  Sometimes Ava catches herself wondering what Beatrice smells like, what Beatrice’s chin would feel like in her hand, what her skin would taste like.  And sometimes, Ava thinks Beatrice is watching right back, but that’s the mission, right?
Mother Superion had been very clear.  Lay low.  Stay safe.  Train.  Be ready.
Ava looks down at the bed, and she doesn’t feel safe.  Or ready.
Beatrice appears behind her in the doorway.  "We can sleep in shifts.  I work most nights at the bar."
“Do you work tonight?”
"Yes."
“Then why don’t you take a nap before your shift?”
“Ok.”  Beatrice places a hand on Ava’s back, nudges her out of the way so Beatrice can step into the room.  “Wake me up in two hours?”
“Yeah.”
Ava paces their new apartment while Beatrice sleeps, familiarizes herself with the layout and entrances, learns which walls to phase through for the best shortcuts, or emergency exits.  Twice, she pauses in front of the bedroom door to check on Beatrice, but there’s no sound or motion beyond rhythmic breathing.  Beatrice left the door ajar, of course, so she could hear in case of any emergency.  On her second pass, Ava thinks of crawling in next to Beatrice, but she dispels the notion just as quickly.  There’s no way that would go undetected.
When Beatrice wakes up and gets ready for work, Ava watches her from the chair.  Beatrice is dressed casual, ordinary, but to Ava she is anything but.  It’s as if removing the habit this time made Beatrice more free, more herself, even if the iron will of a Sister Warrior was still there, just under the surface.  And Ava doesn’t know if Beatrice really looks the part of a bartender, because she hasn’t been to enough bars to tell.
Beatrice slips on her shoes and pauses with her hand on the door.  “I work until closing, so don’t wait up.”
“Yeah.”
“And Ava, please don’t go out by yourself, it isn’t—”
“Safe,” Ava finishes for her.  “I know.”
Beatrice gives a tight half smile even as her eyes fall.  “I’m sorry.”  And it’s only Beatrice’s sincerity that makes this bearable.  Because Ava knows if there were anything Beatrice could do to make this easier for Ava, she would.
“I’ll be here when you come home.”
Beatrice’s face softens.  “Thank you.”  And she’s out the door.
After she’s gone, Ava goes back to the bedroom and curls up under the sheets where Beatrice had lain.  A small tendril of warmth still lingers in the bed, but the smell of Beatrice permeates.  Ava breathes deep and lets herself rest.

WRITTEN BY: Katie (she/her) est.
BACKGROUND / BIO
The only time that Stelly has ever been called by their full, legal name are times when they can remember getting into trouble, whether that be by their teacher, their parents, or their friends when they were making stupid decisions about boys they dated or girls that they flirted with. Stelly, as they go by, was born on January 15, 1993 to Landon and Ava Carter in New Orleans, and they aren’t afraid to let everyone know it. An only child (mercifully, and rightfully, their parents decided that one was enough), they adored their life in New Orleans, and do not hesitate to tell anyone so.
Which is why, when Stelly was eleven years old and their parents divorced, they were devastated. Their father, Landon, was suspected of cheating on his wife, and although nothing was ever confirmed, they had their suspicions… and held onto a grudge for a long time. Especially when Ava announced that the family – sans father, of course – would be making the move to a tiny town up north. Way, way, way up north. In Maine, of all places. Hating their life and the events that led to them moving to Merrock, Stelly spent most of their time in the small backyard full of bright plants, taking photos of butterflies or walking the streets downtown snapping shots of fire escapes. It was their only escape, too.
Starting school made life a little easier, as Stelly did find their own friend group among the ‘misfits’ and 'outcasts’ in junior high school, hanging out with the kids wearing all plaid and combat boots, stealing their mother’s dark lipstick to show off in the classroom. And right as things started to get good – as good as they could, in a podunk town – their mother made the announcement that she was seeing a man, and things were getting quite serious. Which was when they were introduced to their mortal enemy: Chetan Gupta. In another world, they might have been friends. But in the world where his father was dating their mother, it was a nightmare only compounded by the two getting married not long after high school started for Stelly.
The next four years seemed to crawl by, with every B- that they received being outdone by an A+, every good day at school being overshadowed by someone’s great day at work. Although they tried their hardest to get along with Chetan – their mother was incredibly happy with his father, they had to begrudgingly admit – they couldn’t deny how exciting it was to start college after graduation, picking up night shifts at the restaurant their mother had worked at since arriving to town (hello, Cul-de-Sac and their retro uniforms), and studying general education courses all day long. As little time as possible was spent at home, finding it hard to be around two people in a happy relationship while their one millionth attempt at one died off, and around someone with so many aspirations when their own… well, they had no idea.
Enrolling in bartending courses, Stelly studied their ass off and on their twenty-second birthday, quit their job at the Cul-de-Sac to instead take a job at Touchback, where they got to serve fun drinks in a more jovial, loud atmosphere. It wasn’t long after that when they worked up the nerve to move out of the home they shared with their family to instead put out flyers to start looking for roommates for the townhouse they decided to rent and starting a new chapter of their life. As much as Stelly hated the idea of moving to Merrock, they have found themselves feeling a lot more at home in recent years, and have even enrolled in community college again, studying photography and booking small gigs with friends who might need new headshots, or want to show off shiny new engagement rings, plus working with the Merrock Times when able.
