People who see Nightwing as their charming son/nephew figure and are so proud of the man he has become.

The only exception to this is Donna Troy, who kissed Dick for exactly seven seconds in the first ever Titans game of spin the bottle. (Wally rigged it to be a Good Friend but completely missed the fact that Dick had spent most of the last mission staring at Roy's arms). They both agreed that this was weird, and never allowed to happen again.

I was persuaded to read ACoTaR by my book club friends and it's interesting? At least interesting enough to want to know more. But Feyre is so fucking stupid. Coronabeth and Ianthe vs Cain and Abel

Alright I'm sure that someone else has already said this and they probably said it better but it's been a month since I read Harrow the Ninth and this theory is still rattling around in my head. Here we go.

The pronunciation guide in the back of GtN notes that Coronabeth and Ianthe were originally named Cainabeth and Abella, but Muir changed it because she felt like it was too simplistic and/or obvious. This bugged the hell out of me for two reasons. 1. Cainabeth is clearly where she got Coronabeth, which is weird because Ianthe does all the killing, and 2. The two of them are actually a pretty striking inversion of that story.

The most famous line from the myth of Cain and Abel comes when God asks Cain where Abel is, and Cain says "Am I my brother's keeper?" Now this is about thirty seconds after Cain committed the world's first ever murder, and he's trying to avoid telling God about it, implying that he knows what he did was wrong, even if he can't admit it to himself.

The moral of the story (at least the way I was taught), is that yes, you are responsible for your fellow man. You are meant to protect and cherish the people around you, not hurt them.

God punishes Cain by cursing him to be a wanderer, removing him completely from society and the ability to form any meaningful relationships with other people, because he rejected his responsibility to protect the person closest to him.

This is fucked up on a number of levels, but the point I'm trying to hit on here is that Ianthe is the inverse of Cain. She constantly rejects her responsibility towards other people with the sole exception of Corona.

Ianthe has been maintaining the work of two necromancers since she was six years old, to keep the two of them from being separated. She's the first person at Canaan House to figure out the true price of Lyctorhood, and though the exact moment of that discovery is never specified, I've always read it as being before the tabletop duel, where she establishes that she's the one who controls Naberius, not Corona. And she's going to need to be able to control him, because she needs to kill and devour him if she wants to avoid killing and devouring Corona. Not killing and devouring people doesn't seem to be on the table, but that's another post in its entirety

Her response to Harrow suggesting that Corona's dead is to mutilate Harrow's hand.

I wrote the main body of this essay while waiting for my copy of Nona the Ninth to come in, but if anything their reunion in that book just proves my point. Ianthe made herself her sister's keeper when she was six years old, and she's willing to do almost anything to continue that role.

Oh but on a better note I’m going over to my parents tomorrow for lots of tasty food and maybe watch a movie or play some games idk yet my sleepings sorta fucked itself again.

I have too many dietary issues so food is really a big deal for me now (although things are definitely improving in terms of choice at supermarkets but its still expensive so eh) But there’s this place that does GF vegan cream teas, cakes and they keep expanding to other things. Anyways mostly I just really love their scones especially because they now have a dairy free alternative to the clotted cream & its so good! They also have some savoury items now too. I really want to try their quiches. Usually my mum also gets me some of their mini cake loafs & brownies, the mini cake loafs are the kinda thing you’d expect for a cream tea so not massive but they now do proper sized cake loads actually their pretty fucking big. Oh and we found a place that does a GF Vegan birthday cake that is soo good. It uses more of a chocolate ganache instead of icing and the centre is raspberry it’s not a jam like a Victoria sponge has but its made with real raspberries and its really tasty and fresh. It’s from this place in the UK called Lola’s cupcakes they mostly have pop up stalls that’s how we found them well my brother did when he was in London they had a stand near the station selling cupcake versions of the same thing. Oh and my dad managed to snag some of Aldis vegan ‘not salmon’ its meant to be smoked salmon so heres hoping it tastes good. I find fish stuff is harder to replicate then again it depends I tried some good ‘fish cakes’ before but I tried some vegan ‘prawns’ years ago that were disgusting and some vegan ‘tuna’ that was oddly sweet. But it is one of the few items that is GF. Veganuary kinda sucks now because most of the stuff that comes out isn’t GF but there’s still some gems actually Aldi surprised me with how many items were GF in the fake meat section as prior to this they had 1 fake meat item that was GF now they have many including ‘pulled pork’ which I didn’t expect to be GF at all. I just hope they keep these new lines after veganuary is over cos last year they didnt well some stayed but most disappeared and it sucked and it’s not like it doesnt sell either my local Aldi was wiped out of the vegan salmon and a lot of the other stuff when I went I got so upset so my dad went to the one near him he did however by 3 packs of the stuff so I really hope I like it.

Friends, I have (good) news I want to share!

I'm pregnant. :)

We had been trying for a while, and it was a difficult road to get here in many ways, including two very early miscarriages (like within days of a positive test, so it wasn't fully devastating for us, but still discouraging and sucky (not to say that early miscarriages can't also be devastating, just speaking for ourselves)).

But yes, we're very happy. I'm about 16 weeks now, due in early October. Everything is going smoothly and healthily.

Also we just found out last week it's a girl. So since we have a son already, we'll have one of each. :)
