Simon Jones has announced a One Direction anniversary plan: he tells us that "alongside the fan frenzy" (they got that part right anyway) Sony will be presenting us with... a WeBSiTE!! Omgggg okay don't all freak out at once yes it's true: they are blessing us with, uh, a digital timeline of the band with "exciting activations." Given that many of us already spend our leisure time looking at digital content reliving the last ten years of One Direction, the underwhelm is real, unless they really deliver with the "steaming (sic) partner activations," LMAO. High hopes there lemme tell you! There will also be a "10 years of 1D anniversary celebration video," (taking us "right up to the hiatus" so five years actually and no solo anything), yes hello there Ben Winston we can see your grubby little fingerprints, and "reformatted EPs...featuring b-sides and rare songs...for fans to rediscover" (my emphasis cause that means nothing new but listen if anything involving/acknowledging Home happens I might consider a formal apology for taking the piss and give them their due.) Really when fans are disappointed it isn't a perfume, well just OUCH. Still, there's no indication the boys have any involvement whatsoever in this steaming hot, uh, content, so the hope that they're up to something on their own continues.

Maybe relevant to that disconnect between the band and the label plans (maybe not): it was announced today that Syco has been split into its TV and music parts, with Simon Cowell buying out the TV half and Sony retaining sole control of the music holdings. The Sun says that Louis' departure was the "final straw" yes bitch BREAK THEM! Syco Music as we know it isn't officially dead yet, but this sure looks like the beginning of the end, so feel free to start dancing on its grave! This is certainly part of the same picture as Louis' announcement but we don't know how, really. Syco music holdings went to Sony in the deal, and possibly current Syco artists will be sent to other Sony labels, but Louis' announcement would seem to tell us that he won't be included in that and has jumped free of the sinking wreckage in time to choose his next steps himself, something he should have great leverage for thanks to his dedicated fanbase. Mike Navarro, an exec at Columbia Records, liked Louis' post about leaving Syco which got people looking to Columbia, but he's also a former 1D associate and often likes Louis' posts so it might just be another one for the 'everyone likes Louis better than they like Syco' file. Anyway Simon isn't going broke yet (The Sun fawns over the "eight figures" he got in the deal but rushes vaguely past the amount he paid them for the TV wing, let's hope it was at least seven figures) but he will no longer own or control One Direction's music catalog. FUCK YES.

In other news Harry took a fan pic in London wearing his bee shirt yesterday and liked a post wishing Ben Winston's dad- the guy who's trying to make cis male pregnancy possible- a happy birthday, Liam followed a former Marine/motivational speaker and an actor known for war movies and is hyping up his upcoming concert, Louis wrote a sweet testimonial for vocal coach Helene's website and released some new merch and continued his DMAs stanning, Niall tweeted about football, ignoring the angry masses of his fans who would still like to have a word with him about his vacation, and Briana Jungwirth would like us to know that conspiracy theories are real and so is "media manipulation."

Gigi has been hiding her baby bump despite everyone making a big fuss about it, even going so far as to cover her belly in a recent photo with a Tinkerbell emoji, which most took to be a strategy to have a dramatic Vogue cover exclusive reveal, but today at last we've seen the bump (and her round rosy preggo face too) in a live. Zaby on board!

And did Harry's mom Anne unfollow Eleanor? She unfollowed someone and isn't following Eleanor, so either she did or she was not following but was liking and commenting on her pics sometimes anyway. If it's significant we'll know that only in retrospect, like pretty much everything.

Liam got on live to get everyone pumped for his Act 2 birthday show, and it worked! I mean I don't have sales records but the ticket site crashed right after they officially went on sale, seems like a positive sign. The live was charming- he said it will be a different set, asked for requests, said he'd be doing some songs he hadn't sung in 6 or 7 years so that's 1D songs he doesn't usually do, and sure enough he was asking people for their 1D song requests and singing little snippets of most of them and being like yeah! Great idea! He was the most excited by the suggestion of Viva la Vida but sadly did not preview that one for us. Then he was like if anyone can hear me up here they probably think I'm a crazy 1D fan. He also casually ret conned the much repeated 'no one came to my 16th birthday party' story (which HE TOLD US but okay perhaps he didn't mean literally no one)- no, everyone's just standing behind the camera in that picture, he says about a pic of him alone with a cake, that was just a casual thing where a few friends surprised me. He said the pre-recorded audience reaction track they use for the Veeps thing is actually from one of his shows which I thought was neat, and that there might be surprise guests at the birthday party after-party segment of the show. His friend Aymen Hamdouchi, maybe responding to all the traffic from Liam saying hey to him on the livestream, posted a pic of one of Liam's drawings, a scorpion. He really is very good!!! Show us more (visual) art Liam!

Louis' show in Rio De Janeiro has been moved to a venue more then three times the size of the original one (which was very much sold out) and those tickets go on sale Wednesday, and Niall showed us his bruised ankle, ewww, but don't worry, he says: "I'm hard as nails."

“6 Days” est un thriller d’action britannique datant de 2017, réalisé par Toa Fraser, à qui l’on doit également “The Chancellor Manuscript” (2014). Le scénario est signé Glenn Standring et se base sur les faits réels de la prise d’otages de l’ambassade iranienne à Londres en 1980. Les acteurs principaux sont Jamie Bell, qu’on a pu voir dans “The Eagle” (2011), Abbie Cornish, qu’on a pu voir dans “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” (2017), et Mark Strong, qu’on a pu voir dans “Miss Sloane” (2016).

L’histoire proposée par “6 Days” nous plonge dans le Londres de l’année 1980 où six Arabes iraniens prennent d’assaut l’ambassade d’Iran située à Kensington, et y détiennent 26 otages. Rapidement, ils réclament la libération de 91 prisonniers arabes détenus en Iran, sans quoi ils tueront un otage dès le lendemain. Les autorités dépêchent sur place Max Vernon (Mark Strong) inspecteur de police, spécialiste de la négociation. Durant près de six jours, il va tenter d’apaiser les terroristes alors qu’en coulisses, les politiques s’agitent afin d’obtenir l’aide de diplomates arabes. Dans le même temps, une unité des S.A.S. (Special Air Service) se prépare à intervenir en étudiant différentes options. Lorsque finalement un otage est abattu, les choses se précipitent, et l’assaut est donné…

Dans une certaine mesure, “6 Days” est un film d’action. On peut observer la prise de contrôle de l’ambassade d’Iran par un groupe terroriste, bien que cette séquence soit assez courte. C’est essentiellement sur l’unité spéciale des S.A.S. que le curseur de l’action se focalise. On peut les observer s’entraîner sur une intervention dans un autobus, mais cette option est abandonnée, car les autorités veulent faire un exemple, et montrer à la face du monde que le Royaume-Uni ne négociera jamais avec des terroristes et qu’une extrême sévérité sera toujours opposée à ceux qui voudraient s’aventurer sur ce terrain. Les S.A.S. vont étudier leur intervention sur des plans des lieux, puis des maquettes, et enfin dans une reconstitution grandeur nature, afin de minimiser les dégâts collatéraux. Le point culminant étant l’intervention à proprement parlé, qui, bien entendu, se situe dans la dernière partie du métrage.

On peut également y voir un film politique, car le scénario concocté par Glenn Standring nous emmène dans les rouages du système politique britannique de l’époque. Nous sommes dans l’après-massacre de Munich (1972) et les gouvernements occidentaux ont tous compris qu’il était nécessaire de créer des unités spéciales antiterroristes. C’est au sein des S.A.S. que va être créée cette section sous le nom de CRW (Counter Revolutionary Warfare). Au moment de cette prise d’otages, en avril 1980, Margaret Thatcher est alors Premier ministre depuis quelques mois, et doit s’imposer comme un leader fort. La décision d’une sortie de crise violente n’est absolument pas écartée, au grand désespoir de certains hauts responsables, qui n’entrevoient qu’une issue par la diplomatie.

Enfin, à travers “6 Days” on retrouve les ressorts habituels du thriller, avec une montée en puissance de la tension plus on se rapproche de l’assaut. La bande originale orchestrée par Lachlan Anderson vient astucieusement positionner l’ambiance de manière à ce que le spectateur soit pleinement immergé dans l’atmosphère du métrage. Contrairement à ce que l’on peut voir dans des métrages proposant des histoires plus contemporaines, ou comme dans des séries telles que S.W.A.T. dans laquelle on retrouve l’excellent Shemar Moore en vedette, les techniques utilisées par l’unité du S.A.S. ne sont pas aussi développées et efficaces. De multiples couacs viennent perturber le bon déroulement de l’assaut. Le manque de coordination permet notamment aux terroristes de s’organiser et de se cacher dans l’ambassade, augmentant la difficulté et la dangerosité de l’action des militaires venus libérer les otages. En dépit de ces contre-temps, un seul otage perdra la vie durant l’intervention, cinq terroristes seront abattus et un sera fait prisonnier…

En conclusion, “6 Days” est un honorable film d’action qui a la particularité d’être basé sur des faits réels. L’histoire est donc connue et le métrage permet de découvrir la face cachée de ce qui fut présenté par les médias de l’époque. L’intrigue s’étire durant les 94 minutes du métrage de manière à nous emmener vers l’assaut qui se veut être le point culminant du film. La photographie est correcte, et un bon travail a été réalisé sur les décors, les véhicules et les costumes. La bande originale est très bien orchestrée. Le rythme est cohérent avec l’histoire, le récit est fluide, et la narration est linéaire. La distribution offre de bonnes prestations, mais certains personnages ne sont pas suffisamment développés. Un film à voir, ne serait-ce que pour découvrir les balbutiements des unités anti-terroristes….
