Next up is... the Bad Prediction AU!

The Bad Prediction AU is a concept that focuses on the idea that the Diamonds HAD crushed the Rebellion and pulled Pink Diamond offof Earth, and forced her back to Homeworld as a puppet ruler... but in the end, she still had Steven! This story has been incredibly inspiring to me, and I have pushed myself to get closer to the SU artstyle after seeing the amazing work done by the artists of @badpredictionau .

So I got this ask awhile back and it’s been rattling around in my brain

At the time I had no clue on how to answer the question because I hadn’t checked out the bpau in some time since I hadn’t been keeping up with the su fandom. However, now I have a bit more of an answer and I’ll be putting that here.

Firstly, I don’t have a lot of details on how it would go, but I do know that Purple would be existing on earth with her pearl and the two would be known as Amy and Aubie, two rouge gems not apart of any of the courts. The two would meet and befriend Pink/Rose and Pearl and join their rebellion because of their shared love of the earth. However, just like the AU goes, the rebellion fails and is cut short. Rose is revealed to be Pink and Amy ends up revealed as Purple, who confuses all except White (and Aubie). Earth is taken away from Pink, Pearl and Aubie are punished (Pearl losing her ability to speak and Aubie being rejuvenated), and Purple is reintroduced to Homeworld. A new era is brought in to celebrate the return of the diamond that had “disappeared”, which is White’s way of treating the little rebellion as just another tantrum of Pink’s while forcing Purple back into a role she didn’t enjoy (because she felt all gems should be treated equal, but White never agreed with this). Purple to satisfy White and to keep from losing her pearl (since White had intended to take her away just like Pink Pearl, but Purple begged to keep her pearl since she was only doing what she was told by her) went along with White’s plans, she even changed her form to look similar to White to also satisfy White (since the two have a history).

Here is Purple’s reform. I tried making it similar to White’s form while making it different to fit Purple, plus making it darker to show that she may look similar to White, but they are different. She’d much rather treat all gems as equals and show that each gem is their own not what their gem is (ex. A pearl may be a pearl, but they’re more than just a pearl).

Secondly, idk if I’ll actually make my own bpau because I’m trying to focus more on my main AU, but I’m down with making what if designs for the AU. I thought about making Sophie a design for the potential AU, but I haven’t. Though she’ll look similar to Purple and her canon design (aka my current design for Sophie). I will say as a random thing for the potential BPAU is that Sophie is the daughter of a poly ship (Purple, Thomas [her dad] and Janice [her step mom in canon au]) and will end up with a younger sibling from her dad and mama (what Sophie calls Janice). [this is all just silly hypothetical stuff because idk if I’ll actually make this an au]

Lastly, remember this is all just random and for fun. It was something I’ve talked about with some friends, but I’m not taking this seriously because like I said it’s just for fun. I honestly just love coming up with random story ideas because there’s just so much that could happen and I’ve been told that I have a very active imagination (I’ve been told this by my mom since I was a kid, like three years old or so) lol. Anyways, this is just a silly lil suau idea that probably won’t go anywhere. If people enjoy the idea enough maybe it could just be a silly random AU I occasionally talk about and develop. Otherwise it’ll just be some random thing that exists on my blog lol.

“Steve!”

“Ten bucks, Bobert, don't give me that look last time we agreed double or nothing.”

“No,” Nancy insists. “This isn't Murder, She Wrote or Scooby-Doo or Columbo-”

“You saw who did it in Columbo at the beginning,” Eddie reminds.

“I know it's an awful show.”

Robin and Steve remain in sync enough to each get a hand on his shoulder to keep him from getting on the coffee table to defend the only good cop show in existence.

“I'm only pointing out,” she rewinds the VHS taking it back the two or three minutes they'd talked over before stopping it completely, “that this is a movie, not a drama with a repeated format that Steve can pattern recognition into predicting.”

“You haven't seen it already, right?” Robin asks. “The one rule of Monthly Middle-Aged Movie Night is you have to pick a movie none of us have seen.”

“No, I haven't seen it already. If you'll all remember when I asked you each to go see it with me I got,” he points to each of them in turn. “‘Wouldn't you rather see Tomb Raider?’ from double VHS, prestige cinephile and ‘That's too much pink for me, baby, you know I have that intolerance, maybe Rob or Nance will go?’ from my emo-isn’t-a-phase husband. And ‘I'm a little busy with this new story, Steve,’ from Nancy, the only one of you with a real excuse.”

“Some feminist you are, Birdie.”

“I don't want to hear it from you. I watched two of the blandest men alive pursue Renee Zellweger while the screen writers tried to convince us she was homely because you ‘forgot’ you had band practice.”

“You said you liked it!”

“It grew on me, but sometimes you just want to see a woman in a tank top. And I won't be shamed by the same man who cried during Beauty and the Beast.”

“I went with my sweet baby Lucy Joan, you miserable hag,” Eddie says, “and they turned that hot werewolf into a boring looking man.”

“You weren't into that? Look at who-”

“Why am I getting made fun of? Can we finish the movie?”

“No, I'm not going to let this be another Sixth Sense situation,” Nancy says, holding the remote hostage, she knows no one will try to take it from her.

“Ugh don't even bring that up,” Eddie groans, “Dustin still mentions it in at least one letter a year.”

Nancy nods, prim and proper, “Exactly, so tell us right now why you think she did it, then we'll play it again.”

“Chutney, the daughter,” Steve corrects, “have you even been paying attention? Her hair's permed.”

“And press play,” Eddie shouts.

“No,” Robin smacks his hands as he makes his ballsy play to reach around her for the remote. “Show your work, Dingus, even I didn't follow that one.”

“I don't always like the movies everyone else picks but I at least watch them. Her hair is permed, she said she was in the shower. She would have had to have been washing her hair if she didn't hear the gunshot and she has a perm.”

“You can wash your hair with a perm,” Nancy points out.

“You would know.” Eddie snarks, fingering the ends of his own hair.

“You can't wash a fresh perm, you'll fuck up the ammonium thioglycolate. Then you're out forty bucks and you've got limp hair. She killed her dad and lied about being in the shower.”

“Press play,” Eddie decrees again, leaning in close to Steve's side to purr, “it's pretty sexy when you go all hair care detective.”

His hand starts to slip below the blanket. “This is how we ended up with Lucy in the first place,” Steve reminds him, just under the sounds of the courtroom drama picking back up. It doesn’t stop Eddie’s hand from wandering until the movie’s climax starts getting closer, and Eddie’s attention is captured just like Robin’s and Nancy’s.

“Unbelievable,” Robin says, when Elle cites the perm salt.

“Never again,” Nancy swears, when Chutney screams her confession.

“Lucy’s been asking for a brother or sister,” Eddie flirts, as Elle reveals that any good Cosmo girl could have solved it.

No more movies with mysteries or twist endings for a while, they all agree, Robin can’t afford to keep betting against Steve.

Fic Prompts: Cabin Fever Monday

less fic, more of a long ramble, but it's an idea that's been kicking around since the last time I watched a playthrough of Jak 2

(Don't judge me, I don't have a PS2, let alone money for any kind of PS and games lol this is as close as I get)

So in the game, when Jak and company go to Mar's Tomb (and the Precursor validates Jak's "you're sending the four year old in there over my dead body" stance) and then The Baron Mysteriously Knows When And Where To Strike, surprisingly little is said about the fact that Torn sold them out.

Or that Torn was willing to endanger the lives of Jak, Daxter, Kor, young Samos, and the preschooler heir to the throne over the Baron threatening Ashelin. He gets so mad earlier in the game over Jak doing something that threatens to compromise other members of the resistance, but then sacrifices the only other leaders of the Underground? Like he actually thinks Ashelin would let herself get killed????

Yes, I know, that's a pretty typical Jak and Daxter plot hole as plot holes go. But it does get a body thinking.

Supposing Jak, who has Very Noticeable Trust Issues in this game, doesn't just accept what Torn did and move on. He sympathizes with the man, in his way. Jak won't lie and say he might not do the same if someone credibly threatened Daxter or Keira. Nevertheless, now his quest for vengeance is compromised if he can't trust Torn not to leak info back to the Baron. How did the Baron even know where to find Torn, he wonders, and has this happened before?

So Jak starts playing his cards even closer to his chest. Any info he and Dax pick up between them and Vin, they keep to themselves. Any Metalhead nests they report to Torn, but weaknesses in the Crimson Guard to exploit they handle quietly. When they rescue their friends, Daxter breaks it to Tess that Torn was the one who got them arrested. And Tess takes that remarkably well.

If by "remarkably well" you mean "didn't immediately put a hit out on Torn".

Once she's had time to process everything, Tess gets straight down to business. She knows Torn still desperately wants to protect Haven from Praxis, but she also knows that for better or worse he's compromised now. HQ probably isn't safe either. So on the spot she organizes an Underground-within-the-Underground in order to compartmentalize information, with herself as de facto leader because when she suggested that Jak lead he answered with sheer panic and six swear words she'd never even heard before, and it would've been mean to make him lead after that.

They don't know who else is compromised. They don't know where The Kid is. They don't have the Precursor Stone. All they can do is try to muddle along the best they can and deal with each new threat as it emerges. This would be easier if Jak wasn't simultaneously processing the idea of time travel and the suggestion that two Samos's means that his Samos may have known what was going to happen to him.

It isn't a nice thought.

They still keep Torn updated on anything to do with Metalheads, because those are everyone's concern. But when Vin comes up with the idea to just wholesale take over the weapons factory, they don't even tell Kor. (Which, unbeknownst to them, was the best course of action they could have possibly taken.) Torn doesn't hear about it until after Jak has cleared out the whole factory so that Vin can reprogram everything to make it their new HQ. (Errol consequently has a conniption fit that was, by all reports, extremely amusing to watch).

Daxter has a lot of shiny new toys that explode and letting him have his own mech suit was probably a Mistake, but Jak and Daxter enable each other so despite Tess's best efforts, The Daxterminator exists and is painted the most hideous neon orange you have ever seen. Despite its retina-burning qualities, the Daxterminator plus Daxter's gift of gab turn out to be pretty decent recruitment material, and Jak discovers that he is not very good at finding living quarters for people in the weapons factory. No, Jak, they can't just "sleep wherever" like you do. That's not healthy, Jak.

The Baron is furious at the loss of his weapons factory, but it's kind of hard to take it back when, y'know, the majority of the ammo is inside. He plans to use the race to draw out Jak, knowing Krew has been using him as his primary driver. Jak's become something of a symbol to the people, and if he can get him killed on the racetrack, that will quiet some of those rebellious whispers for a while -- and deprive the Underground of their tank.

Tess knows when something is fishy, she figures its a setup. Jak probably knows, but he definitely doesn't care. It's a race, he's certain he'll win, and the prize is a security pass into the palace. Worth the risk in his book. It's Sig, having been bribed into being a "freelance consultant" with a weapons mod, who suggests capitalizing on it being a trap. If the Baron wants attention on Jak, why not use it as a distraction? If there's anything big they need to do, now would be the time to get it done.

Such as breaking into the palace to steal back the Precursor Stone.

They have enough people in their cell of the resistance now that through enough "friend of a friend" connections they can ambush some Guards and steal their armor and passkeys. They just need Jak to keep Errol and the Baron's attention until they can find the Stone. Jak is more than ready to oblige.

Meanwhile Sig is sending reports back to Damas like "yo you're not gonna believe the nonsense that's been going on out here."
