Azriel stilled. "What happened to Elain?"

Cassian waved a hand. "A fight with Nesta. Don't bring it up," he warned when Azriel's eyes darkened.

Cassian surveyed the shadows gathered around Az. "You all right?" His brother nodded. "Fine." But shadows still swarmed him.

Ch21

Nesta saw the blow land, like a physical impact, in Elain's face, her posture. No one spoke, though shadows gathered in the corners of the room, like snakes preapering to strike.

Ch22

"She's volatile right now. The last time she did a scrying, it ended badly. The Cauldron looked at her. And then took Elain."

Azriel stiffened. "I know. I helped rescue Elain, after all."

Cassian looked over at Az. "You think you'll ever be ready for one?" Ever be ready to confess to Mor what's in you heart?"

"I don't know," Azriel said.

"Do you want a child?"

"It doesn't matter what I want." Distant words-ones that prevented Cassian from prying further. He was still happy to be Mor's buffer with Azriel, but there'd been a change lately. In both of them. Mor no longer sat beside Cassian, draped herself over him, and Azriel...those longing glances toward her had become few and far between. As if he'd given up.

Ch29

Amren said, " We do not have the time to wait for Nesta to decide. I say we approach Elain tomorrow. Better to have both of them working on it."

Azriel stiffened, an outright sign of temper from him as he said quietly, "There is an innate darkness to the Dread Trove that Elain should not be exposed to."

Amren drained her wine and said to Cassian, "Nesta has a week. One more week to find the Trove with her own methods. Then we seek out other routes." She threw a nod toward Azriel. "Including Elain, who is more than capable of defending herself against the darkness of the Trove, if she chooses to. Don't underestimate her."

Ch 31

Nesta said, "The Trove. And what happened the last time I scried."

Feyre said, "We won't allow any harm to come to Elain. Rhys warded her this morning, and we have eyes on her at all times."

"Eyes can be blinded," Nesta said.

"Not the ones under my command," Azriel said with soft menace. Nesta met his stare, knowing, he was the only one aside from Feyre who could truly understand her hesitation. He'd gone with Feyre into the heart of Hybern's camp to save Elain - he know the risk. "We won't make the same mistake twice."

Ch 44

"She made ballroms into battlefields and plotted like any general. Like you two," she said, nodding to Cassian, and then, a bit more shyly, to Azriel.

Azriel offered her a small smile that Elain quickly looked away from.

Ch 58

Nesta shook her head slowly, not understanding. Elain just linked her arm throught Nesta's and led her toward the family room, where Azriel stood in the doorway, monitoring them. As if he'd heard Elain's sharp laugh and wondered what had caused it.

"I was just checking on dessert," Elain explained as they approached the doorway and Azriel. Nesta met shadowsinger's stare and he gave her a nod. Then his gaze shifted to Elain, and thought it was utterly neutral, something charged went throught it. Between them. Elain's breath caught slightly, and she gave him a shallow nod of greeting before brushing past, leading Nesta into room.

Azriel lingered near the door, quiet enough that when Feyre and Mor began talking about some of her paintings, Nesta went over to him.

"Why don't you sit?" She leaned against the doorway beside the shadowsinger.

"My shadows don't like the flames so much." A pretty lie. She'd seen Azriel before the fire plenty. But she looked at who sat close to it and know the answer.

"Why did you come if it torments you so much?"

"Because Rhys wants me here. It'd hurt him if I didn't come."

"Well I think holidays are stupid."

"I don't."

She arched a brow. He explained, "They pull people together. And bring them joy. They are a time to pause and reflect and gather, and those are never bad things." Shadows darkened his eyes, full of enough pain that she couldn't stop herself from touching his shoulder. Letting him see that she understood why he stood in the doorway, why he wouldn't go near the fire.

His secret to tell, never hers.

Ch 59

(After Soltice/Bonus Ch.)

Three days passed with no word from Cassian. He'd been replaced on training by a stone-faced Azriel, who was more aloof than usual and wouldn't even give her a smile.

Are you named after anyone? Not exactly: the name I was given was my maternal granddad's favourite one (he died a few years before I was born).

When was the last time you cried? Yesterday.

Do you have kids? No.

What sport do you play / have played? Save the stuff I did for my PE classes, none (I used to be quite good at middle-distance running, though). I am more of a yoga/ballrom dancing girlie.

Do you use sarcasm? Yep, quite often. 

What's the first thing you notice about people? The way they look at people (the expression in their eyes).

What's your eye color? Short answer: green. Long answer: green background with a greyish-blue band on the outer rim and some specs that change color with time (they went from light yellow to amber to ochre, and judging by my mom's eyes next comes the color of rust and then one of dark chocolate).

Scary movies or happy endings? I choose happy endings but only because I have to choose. I love horror movies!

Any talents? - Does being very (scarily, according to some of my friends) good at planning, organizing, managing limited resources etc count?😂 Plus I often manage to calm down people who are freaking out (I even have an appropriate nickname which is also connected to my actual name). Also, looks like I am not bad at writing things (analytical stuff and a bit of poetry).

What are your hobbies? Reading, writing poetry, listening to music, watching TV shows and movies - and travelling, as much as I can.

Do you have any pets? Right now, no.

How tall are you? 5'3'' (160 cm).

Favorite subject in school? Tie betwen social studies and English (a foreigh language for me).

Did you say all? O hell-kite!

No, not all--of the four shows I had booked last week, I did get one, the non-slight return on Saturday night. And what a show it was. For the first time in a while, I pretty much did three straight loops, no wandering. I have nothing but good things to say about the performances, whatever bad things I might have to say about only getting one show of the four I had expected. Oh, here's a bad thing: the elevator was broken. After valiantly ringing the bell three times (just like in a fairy tale), Vivian let us in by the stairs. I still got to the ballrom before the witches had entered.

Regular readers will not be shocked to learn that yr humble servant will follow anyone they've never seen before as Bald Witch. I had never seen Taylor Massa's Bald Witch. I followed. It was good. Really, really good. In addition to being as feral as the role requires, there were nice flourishes and touches like an insidiously half-romantic wake-up kiss for Banquo, detail work that's much appreciated.

Jess Smith's Danvers. This time in the traditional housekeeper's dress--sure seems like I saw her in last year in the new Communist Worker's Party version of the Danvers costume. AT ANY RATE, I am a fan of this performer's work and nothing happened in this loop to change that. The work on the couches in the Macduff suite was smooth as glass, and I'm pretty sure there was literally levitation at one point. Never a moment of downtime; it was gripping just to hang out in the dining room while "Is That All There Is?" played in the next room over. "Let's break out the booze" punctuated by a slug from the water bottle, always dreaming of a better life.

Georgia Usborne's Lady Macduff. This was a really interesting interpretation--something about the way the drugged milk hit this Lady Macduff was different. I was lucky to have the hand offered and the main thing I felt in that room was a sense of CARE, at least until the turn in that particular 1:1, a feeling of protection and concern but all of it graceful and fluid. Also, I had an incredibly runny nose (let's call it exertion-induced rhinitis) the instant my mask came off--authentically child-like and incredibly embarrassing!

What else is there to say about this one? Oh, something I hadn't noticed in a while if ever: the first Witches 2, there were not many folks in the Rep Bar and everyone was standing well back, and the witches and especially McNally's Macbeth took full advantage of this, using all the space, flailing and flinging choco-blood as the strobes hit.

As it turns out, I don't have much to publicly say about the shows that got cancelled, other than to note that the Guest Relations staff are consummate pros and swell folks.

PS: I went to Conwell Coffee Hall. It was quite the space, very quiet mid-afternoon. Who knows what might happen there when more folks show up? Not me.
