J’apprends que lundi 4 janvier est morte l’actrice anglaise, Barbara Shelley, Barbara Korwin de son vrai nom, à 88 ans. Une grande dame du fantastique fidèle au genre, égérie de la firme Hammer, qui aurait pu être chantée dans la chanson hommage au fantastique « science Fiction » du Rocky Horror Picture Show. Elle joua dans quelques uns de mes films fantastiques préférés,(voir affiches) de ceux que mes parents me laissaient voir parfois, après une supplication à genoux, dans la dernière séance d’Eddie Mitchell. Son rôle le plus connu, fut aussi celui qui me fit découvrir la « Hammer » et tomber encore plus amoureux de ce cinéma: « Dracula Prince des ténèbres » de Terence Fisher, le king de ces productions, qui lui avait donné son 1er role en 1952 dans Mantrap. Je m’en rappellerai toujours. C’était dans un de ces déjeuners de famille, trop longs pour un enfant, chez mon oncle Fréderic Ullmann, ingénieur son réputé du cinéma ( réalisateurs, je vous le recommande) collectionneur de vieux films fantastiques en VHS, qui me communiqua sa passion.
