Scream Queen Book 1: Conventional Final Girl

Chapter 5
Chapter 4 / Chapter 6
P.S. lmk if y'all would like to be added to the tag list
“Sidney Prescott and (y/n) (l/n) both escaped a vicious attack last night but one of them is the daughter of Maurine Prescott, who was brutally murdered last year when convicted killer Cotton Weary broke into their home and savagely raped and tortured the deceased. Cotton Weary is currently awaiting an appeal for the death sentence, handed down after the young Sidney testified against him…” The reporter just went on and on through the tv screen. Tatum was rubbing Sid’s arm as a sign of everything will be okay. I held Sid’s hand to signify the same message, gently squeezing it so she knows she’s not alone. “It’s never going to stop is it?” She asked with a small chuckle.
As Dewey sat across from us he notified, “Billy was released.”
Sidney’s face faltered once she heard this, I think she’s still afraid of it all. I on the other hand slouched back with a wave of relief.
“His celular bill was clean, he didn’t make those calls,” Dewey said as he sat back in the chair, “We’re checking every celular account in the county. Any calls made to you two or Casey Becker are being cross referenced, it’s going to take some time but we’ll find 'em.”
I squeezed Sid’s hand again and Tatum lightly punched her arm. “Okay,” was all Sid could really say right now.
“We’ve got this, Sis.” I said to her with a small smile.
I guess pulling up to school in a patrol car was cool? Kind of gave a real “Back off” vibe when we stepped on the school grounds. “Don’t worry girls, it’s school. You’ll be safe here.” Dewey reassured us...but if there’s a possibility that the killer is another student, is it really all that safe? Reporters swarmed us once Sid and I were completely out of the car. One woman going as far as asking, “So how does it feel to be almost brutally butchered?” Seriously what thee fuck? Sid and Tatum walked ahead of me right as I was ready to hook it to another reporter like I did to Gale. Sadly enough though I was stopped by two pairs of arms holding me back while my legs went swinging.
“Let me at ‘em!” I exclaimed to my mystery captors.
“Not a chance little Nancy Thompson,” I could hear Randy’s voice from my left.
“Yeah these reporters are worse than any Freddy Kruger!” And then there was Stu’s cackle from the right.
“Fine screw it, I just don’t want to see anymore of them haggling Sid again.” I said as I slightly jumped out at the flock of reporters.
“Uh, where did Sid go anyways” I asked the two boys as I spun around. Finally seeing her talking to Weathers I tried to beeline but Stu held me back.
“Dude, (y/n) slow your roll. Syd’s just talking to her,” Stu said as he secured me against his chest. I did my best to hide the red embarrassment all over my face.
“Yeah probably fixing the mess you made last night,” Randy said as he rolled my eyes.
His words struck something in me, I just calmed down and stopped fight Stu’s hold, if anything I was holding myself now.
Stu punched Randy in the arm before said, “Way to go man.”
“Wha- I-” Randy was about to pick his own fight with Stu again.
I beat them to it when I turned around still in Stu’s grasp and said, “No he’s right, what I did last night was reckless and now Sidney is the one who has to clean it up.” I leaned my head on Stu’s chest.
“C’mon (y/n), it wasn’t that bad?” Randy backpedaled on his words to try and make me feel better but lets face it, when you punch someone on national tv… it’s pretty bad.
At our lockers we waited around for the bell to ring. “This is a mistake, we shouldn't be here,” Sid said as she gathered her books. I’m honestly with her on that, it’s a total scare fest in the halls today. “I want you to meet me right here after class, okay Sid?” Tatum addressed my step sister but left me out of the question. Peaking my head over my locker door I arched an eyebrow. “I’ll walk you out of class (y/n),” Stu pipped in before looking at himself in a mirror. “Yeah okay Chicken Stew,” I rolled my eyes, trying not to laugh at my own pun. I thought Stu would’ve laughed but before he could Sid said, “Hey I haven’t really seen Billy around, is he really pissed?” What the fuck Sidney? I thought. “Oh after you branded him the Candyman? No, his heart’s broken!” Stu exclaimed, earning a punch from Tatum. He said “ow” as Tatum said his name in a stern frustrated manner.
Someone came running down the hall in what’s now been dubbed the ‘Ghostface’ costume as they screamed bloody murder while jumping out at people. I let out a squeal before grabbing hold of Stu’s tan and white over shirt. Feeling heat rise up to my face I quickly let go and lightly brushed out my hair to compose myself. Stu turned around and pinched my cheeks, “Awe is (y/n) scewed of da big bad boo-gy man?” I swatted his hands away while saying, “Given recent events, yeah obviously.” Shuffling past Stu and over to Sid I notice his expression change for a split second for playful to envious. “Come on (y/n), you punched Gale Weathers on live news, I think you’ll be fine if you get yelled at by a kid in a costume,” Tatum said as she playfully rolled her eyes with a smirk. I couldn’t take it anymore, whether it was the embarrassment, the fear, the secrets, or the regret. I just couldn’t. I ran off from the group as both Tatum and Sid shouted after me.
As I ran down the hall I bumped into another figure.
“Shit!” I exclaimed as I pushed off of them.
“Hey it’s just me,” I heard an all too familiar voice say to me.
“Oh-oh… Billy,” I said as I backed away.
Waving his index finger between us he asked, “You still think it’s me?”
I reassure him I don’t by saying, “No, I don’t I was just shocked to see you.” As I fiddled with my shirt.
“I swear it’s not me (y/n),” Billy said stepping forward.
Looking up at him I said, “I know Billy, there was still someone in the house that night though. So can you please-” I cut myself off seeing the lack of inches in the space between Billy and I.
“I know, I know, the cops say I scared him away. It wasn’t me (y/n).” He said as he looked down at me a little.
“I know, he called us again when we were at Tatum’s…”
“See! Couldn’t have been me, I was in jail,” Billy said as he turned over his hands to reveal inky fingerprints. “Remember?”
“I’m sorry, but please understand,” I started as I looked up.
“Understand what? My girlfriend and her little step sister would rather accuse me of being a psychopathic killer than touch me?” Billy looked back down at me, I could smell the spearmint gum roll off his breath.
“You know that’s not true…” I said as I knitted my eyebrows together and grabbed a hold of his arm.
“Then what is it?” He asked, hurt and confusion heard in his voice.
“Billy, Sid and I were attacked and nearly filleted last night?!” I asked, slightly appalled he’d even ask as if it weren’t clear.
“I mean between us…” Billy said as his eyes stared down into my soul with an intensity I’ve never seen before.
“What do you mean between us?” I asked at this point very confused as I let go of him and take a step back.
“Isn't it obvious (y/n)? For the past five months, the smirks, the glances, the nudging, the little notes, Stu and I being practically all over you?” Billy said as he used his free hand that wasn’t on the banister to wave around.
“No it wasn’t obvious! I mean Stu I knew about but you?! Billy, you’re my sister’s boyfriend!” I exclaimed, getting justifiably annoyed and upset.
“Not anymore, she practically broke up with me the night at the station!” He raised his voice, making me flinch a little, he must’ve noticed since he let his body relax a little.
“Look Billy I’ve had a crush on you and Stu for months but I know for sure this isn’t the way to go about things. Sidney didn’t say she broke up with you and I’m not going to just be a rebound to make her jealous.” I said resting my hand above his on the banister.
Billy scoffed before saying, “(y/n), be real here Sid doesn’t want to see me anymore and like I said, the past five months…” Billy let his words trail off as he came closer to me, placing his hand on my forearm. Just like at the lockers my head was racing and everything felt so wrong, I just couldn’t take it. I just stepped away, shaking my head while I walked off letting Billy shout my name.
Turning around to look at him I said, “I’m sorry if me having good morality for my sister’s relationship is an inconvenience to you and your perfect existence!” I exclaimed before turning back round.
“What? What do yo- Nobody said that, (y/n)!” Billy shouted after me but it just faded out as I ran away.
Stomping my way into the bathroom I make my way over to one of the sinks, I dig in my backpack for an aspirin or something.
“They were never attacked, I think they made it all up,” I heard one of the bathroom stalls say.
“Why would they lie about that?” A girl in another stall asked
“For attention, the girl and her sister have some serious issues!” The first girl replies.
Part of me wanted to hide in the bathroom stall like the sad girls in the movies always did but then I remembered, this is life. In life you just gotta roll with the punches, so I’m doing just that, except this time I might punch back. Right when the two walk out of the stalls their faces dropped. Yeah I assumed seeing the face of one of your gossip subjects will do that to ya. I kept staring at them as they washed their hands, too scared to even look in my general direction. As they walked out I did that stupid petty way where you swish your fingers up and down. Finally I can cry in peace, I thought as I walked into an empty stall. Deciding that the short few seconds I’ve been in here were enough for me to feel refreshed I walk out, my eyes red and puffy while my lashes stick together.
“Pathetic,” I said into the mirror. I always thought I held myself to a higher standard than this, not really with the crying thing. More so with the Stu and Billy thing…
I don’t have time to think about it much when I hear a strange noise in the restroom. Getting low to the ground I check underneath all the stalls. Empty. Looking around I notice a loud vent in the wall, that must’ve been it. As I go back to shuffling around my bag I could’ve sworn I heard someone whisper my name. Maybe it’s better to ignore it? Slowly and carefully I get back down low to check again. This time I’m met with a pair of beat up leather work boots dropping down from the stall. “Oh shit,” I whispered to myself.
The stall door unlatches quickly and I try to make a run for it but I’m caught by the Ghostface.
Thrashing around as he holds back my arms I asked, “Alright real funny, who is it? Stu, Rand, Billy? If this is some sort of pay back then it won’t work!” The man behind  the mask said nothing, but he violently jerked my face to the bathroom mirror. “What?” I ask, my face clearly showing malevolence towards whoever it is pulling the prank. That was until he pulled out an eight-inch long hunting knife. He slowly and lightly dragged the knife along my torso, from the collar of my cropped shirt all the way down to the button of my low rise jeans, applying extra pressure near my zipper. “Ya’ know if I wasn’t so skeptical about you trying to kill me right now we could probably take this in a very different direction,” I said as a more matter-of-factly sentence. I’m not sure if this shocked the masked murderer or gave him a change of heart but his grip loosen and I BOOKED IT!  I slammed the bathroom door open passing by a couple of teachers but I really just wanted to get the hell out of here.
After calming down a little bit I got outside of the school just quick enough to hear Principal Himbry say, “Attention now kids, due to the recent events that have occurred effective immediately, all classes are suspended until further notice,” Holy shit, “The Woodsboro police department has issued a citywide curfew beginning at nine o’clock tonight.” The whooping and hollering cheers that were so loud just a second ago died down into monotone boos. At least we’re out of school?
“It was just some sick fuck having a laugh, sue me.” Tatum said as she rolled her eyes at me.
“No, it was him Tatum I know it. Or else he wouldn’t have had a huge ass hunting knife!” I exclaimed in a huff.
“Okay well, you're not to be alone anymore. If you pee, we all pee. Is that clear?” Asked Tatum
Sid and I looked each other up and now simultaneously say, “Ew, please no.”
Spooking up from behind us was Stu as he blabbered nonsensical words that most likely would’ve made sense if we were paying attention.
“I don’t know what you did girls,” He said handing each of us flowers, “but on behalf of the entire student body we all say THANK YOU!” Stu shouted full force from his lungs.
“Stop it Stu,” Tatum said as she hit him with the little purple flower.
I was so distracted by the two that I didn’t notice Stu change targets and come barreling towards me, hoisting me over his shoulder.
“Stu! Oh my god asshole! I’d like to be returned to the security of my feet on the ground!” I shout at I hit his back with my palms.
In the midst of my one sided battle Stu announces, “To celebrate this impromptu fall break, I propose we have a party. Tonight at my house!”
Looking over to my right I see my step sister’s face contort into an emotion of unease, “Are your sure?”
“Yeah as long as this little vixen doesn’t invite the entire world!” Stu exclaims as he motions to his girlfriend who is currently keeping me company by swinging my free hand.
Stu goes on by saying, “Intimate gather, intimate friends,” whilst poking my thigh right below my ass. He should be glad Tatum didn’t see that one.
“What do you say Sid? I mean pathos could have it’s perks?” Tatum piped up just as Stu let me down. Now Tatum and I have switched spots beside Stu.
“Could totally protect you, yo I’m so buff, I got you covered bro!” Stu does a macho man impersonation as he twirls around Tatum.
I fall a little back from the group, wondering if Billy will be there… he most likely will, won’t he?
“I mean c'mon Sid? (Y/n), you with me? It could be fun.” Tatum says as she turns to us both.
While the girls were focused on each other Stu looked over at me and snapped me out of my thoughts, literally. The loud noise made me look up.
“Huh?” I asked, looking at the trio in front of me.
“The party (y/n), you in?” Tatum asked as Stu kissed her neck
“Yeah fine, whatever. I’m in,” I said as I walked up in front of them.
“Niiice,” Stu growled out, “Cool, you guys bring food, alright?”
I don't know what it was but Stu did something which prompted me to shout, “You’re being weird Stu!”

Cotton Weary is currently awaiting the appeal for the death sentence handed down after the young Sidney testified against him. She was the key witness in the state’s case against the-“
And the tv went off.
It was the morning after the attack Sidney was a victim of. You were in the kitchen of the Rileys’ household, currently eating breakfast. The news channels were going on and on about last night's attempted murder.
Taking your eyes off the tv, your gaze landed on Dewey. He put down the tv remote on the kitchen counter and proceeded to sit down at your side on the round kitchen table. When you had walked into the kitchen that morning he was on a phone call, you assumed police related, and when your gazes had met you gave him a small nod of your head as a good morning greet.
“It’s never gonna stop, is it?” Sidney spoke up, as silence filled the room. Her question was directed at Dewey.
You stopped eating, putting your sandwich down silently on the plate in front of you. You glanced at Dewey, who proceeded to tell Sidney the same thing he told you last night.
“Billy was released.” He grimaced. You swallowed thickly. The look on Sid's face was concerning you. “His cellular bill was clean. He didn’t make those calls.”
Your gaze flickered from Sid's to Dewey's face slowly. The atmosphere in the room was tense. Sidney's anxiety was palpable.
“We’re checkin’ every cellular account in the county.” Dewey continued. “Any calls made to you or Casey Becker are being cross-referenced.”
Sid's worry was getting the best of her. She shock her body as if a chill ran across her entire form, and you’re pretty sure it did.
“It’s gonna take some time, but we’ll find him.” Dewey tried to reassure Sidney. But she just looked numb.
Tatum tried to comfort her punching her slowly in the arm. “you okay?” Sidney, you noticed, tried to smile, but to no avail.
Silence filled the room once again. Everyone ate in silence. You noticed Sidney picking on her food, but decided to not mention it. You felt a pair of eyes on you. Looking to your right, you caught Dewey's gaze, who simply gave you a grimace of a smile. You did the same. He was the only thing that filled your world with a little light on this sad morning.
Dewey drove the three of you to school that morning. You sat in the back with Sid, and Tatum in the passenger seat next to Dewey. You could feel Sidney's concern radiating from her body. The car ride was silent, aside from the music Dewey put on to try and lighten up the mood.
As you reached the school’s driveway Dewey turned on the car police sirens before parking.
Dewey and Tatum opened their doors and got out of the vehicle. You pushed through Tatum's passenger seat and got out of the car, as Sid did the same on the opposite side.
Tatum had already rounded the vehicle while you were still closing the door. From where you stood you could faintly overhear Dewey trying to reassure Sidney. “Don’t worry, Sid. It’s school. You’ll be safe here.”
But as soon as you started walking to the front of the car, reporters started to launch at Sidney. You stopped near the driver's outside mirror of the car, as Dewey intervened.
“So how does it feel to be almost brutally butchered?” Asks a reporter.
Dewey immediately put himself between the lady and Sidney. “Hey, now leave her alone.” He says as he tries to maintain some distance between the woman and Sid.
“People want to know! People have the right to know!” The news journalist yelled as Sidney hurried off towards campus with Tatum following her.
“Leave her alone.” Dewey continued to interact with the reporter who barely listened to him, even if he was the law.
“How does it feel?” The woman continued.
“She just wants to get an education.” Dewey tired of not being listened to decided to stop being nice and polite for a second. “Turn that thing off.” He said as he pointed towards a cameraman that was recording Sidney from a distance.
Soon the reporters got bored as they realized they weren’t going to get any answers from Sidney and walked away.
You let out a big breath you didn’t know you were holding. You glanced at Dewey who shook his head, probably irritated by all the reporters making his job a lot more difficult than it already is. He took off his sunglasses and brought his hand up to pinch the brim of his nose, as he calmed himself and prepared for another day of interrogating students.
You adjusted your backup on your shoulder and the sudden movement made Dewey look up at you. “Hey.” He said, his demeanor much more relaxed when he saw it was you.
“Hi.” You greeted, a small smile tugging at your lips.
This was the first conversation you had since the night prior. The day had only just started and it had already been pretty eventful. You hadn’t had any time to talk. But the thing is, none of you knows what to talk about with one another. Being apart for almost a year, making it harder to know what was going on in each other's lives.
“Crazy morning, huh?” He asked, awkwardly.
“Pretty eventful, I’d say.” You answered, trying to have a normal and not at all awkward conversation. You just wanted to be able to develop that bond you had.
Dewey closed the door of his vehicle that he was leaning on and turned fully to you. “ I’ll be here today, questioning more students.” He started, “ If you see anything or overhear anything, come find me.”
“Okay.” You agreed. “I’ll be with Sid and Tatum during breaks, we agreed to meet at Tatum’s locker, so we could all be together in case anything happens.” You told him, squinting your eyes as you look up at him.
“It’s going to be okay. You’re in school, and there are police and reporters everywhere, the killer can’t do anything here.” Dewey reassured you, bringing his hand to rest on your shoulder.
His touch burned your skin through the thin cotton of your long sleeve shirt. He is gentle and warm. His eyes make you believe that nothing is going to happen to you.
“I really hope you’re right.” You sigh while nodding. As he just rubs your shoulder. A small act of affection, but that makes your heart flutter.
“I’m always right.” He says goofily. As he lets out a laugh.
You end up snorting. For the first time in almost a year, you both feel completely at ease with each other's presence, like in the old days.
“Yeah, sure you are.” You joke as well.
The bell rings, and it's time to part ways.
You looked towards the high school building. Unknowns to you, Dewey keeps his gaze on you at all times. He takes the small amount of time he has to let his eyes wander all over your face's side profile. He just hasn’t seen you in so long, he didn’t even remember how good it felt to be in your company. You just bring this sense of peace and quiet to him. It relaxes him. He wishes that when this is all over that you’ll be as close as you were one year ago.
“Well, I gotta go.” You look up at Dewey frowning a little.
“Yeah, me too.” He answered, pursing his lips. “I’ll meet you all here to take you home after school.” He says.
“See you then.” You bring your hand to his bicep and give it a squeeze. You walk towards the building, anxiety flooding through your entire body.
“Bye,” Dewey whispered as he watched you go inside the building with a small smile tugging on his lips, as his hand went up to his arm as he touched the same spot yours was just seconds ago.
He puts on his sunglasses once more and hurries off to work. Duty calls.

~
After school, my mom left a note saying she was going out of town with a few girl friends for the weekend. "Hello?" I answered the phone.
"Hey, do you wanna stay over at Tatum's with me till Sunday?" Sidney asks as I walk around my house.
"I don't know. My mom is out of town but I just feel like staying home alone. If I decide to change my mind, I'll call." I tell her.
"Okay, and I completely understand. Be safe." Sidney ends the call.
Once I put the phone up I walk around locking the doors and windows just to be safe. As I take a seat on the couch I turned on the tv and the news was playing. "The bodies of 17-year old Casey Becker and her 18-year old boyfriend, Steve Orth, were discovered late last night by the girl's parents..." I changed the channel.
"The Woodsboro double murder case. Authorities are baffled by the lack of clues and the savage..." I changed the channel again.
"The town's in shock, and no one can quite believe what has happened here, although this is not the first time this small community... of Woodsboro has endured had such tragedy. Only a year ago Maureen Prescott, wife and mother, was found raped and murdered not far from this peaceful town square. Alongside Brian Elsher, husband and father found tied up and murdered."
I turned off the tv because I knew if I changed the channel again it would just be the news still. I get up and leave the room to walk around before plopping down on another couch opening my book to read. As I read the phone rings so I bookmark my spot.
"Hello?" I pick up the phone.
"Allie." Billy comes through.
"Billy. Umm, what are you calling for?" I ask him not in the mood to talk to anyone.
"Checking up on you. After lunch, you ended up ditching the last classes." He tells me.
"Yeah, I just spent the rest day in the bathroom. Can you blame me? Stu and Randy would keep apologizing to me for making me walk off." I explain to him.
"You want me to come over and keep you company? We can watch Heathers... your favorite movie. Come on, Christian Slater as JD... I know how much you find him attractive as that character." He makes me laugh some.
"As nice as that sounds... I'm gonna pass. I just wanna be alone tonight. I hope you understand." I apologize to him.
"It's alright. See you tomorrow." He ends the call.
I guess at some point I fall asleep reading because I'm awakened by the phone ringing. "Hello?" I answered the phone.
"Hey, I'm on my way to pick up Sidney then we're gonna go to the video store then gonna come get you. I know you told her you wanted to be alone but I won't allow it. Sorry, no talking back. Bye." She ends the call so I get up to get things together.
As I get up to go to my room the phone rings again so I go back to pick it up. "Tatum, I'm literally about to pack a ba-,"
I'm cut off by the other side, "Hello, Allison." A man's voice comes through.
"Um... Hi, who is that?" I ask them.
"You tell me." He tells me.
"Umm... Well, I have no idea." I tell him.
"Scary night, isn't it? With the murders and all it's like right out of a horror movie or something." He says, making me chuckle.
"Very much, but you just kinda gave yourself away Randy. Are you calling me from work again? Tatum and Sidney are gonna go by so can you give the movies to them please." I ask, turning on the lamp.
"Do you like scary movies, sugar?" He asks me.
"You know I do and you know my top ten too. Also, I like that thing you're doing with your voice, it's sexy." I laugh, walking around the room.
"What's your favorite scary movie?" He asked me.
"Come on, you know that." I roll my eyes.
"Well, remind, baby." I make a face at that.
"Randy, when did you get so bold?" I ask, "Fine, I'll play along. It's Texas Chainsaw Massage." I tell him.
"Why is it that?" He asks.
"Because it just is. And in the third one and Next Generation something about Viggo Mortensen and Matthew McConaughey those two... just are hot to me. Hell, most killers in movies are sexy to me." I explained to him.
"Are you alone in the house?" He asked me.
"No, Billy and Stu are over... Yeah, they're cheating on their girlfriends with me." I joke. "Yes, I'm alone, and come on Randy that's so unoriginal. I'm actually disappointed in you." I look out the windows bored.
"Maybe that's because I'm not Randy, sugar." He says, making freeze and move away from the window.
"So, who are you?" I ask the man.
"The question isn't who am I? The question is where am I?" He tells me.
"So, where are you, mysterious sexy dude?" I ask in a joking tone.
"Your front porch." He says making my stomach twist.
"Well, my question now is why would you be calling from my front porch?" I ask, walking in that direction.
"That's the original part." He tells me.
"Oh, yeah? How come I don't see you then?" I look out the window and see nobody then open the door which, deep down I knew was fucking stupid as I walk out some. "Hello? So where are you?" I ask, looking around.
"Right here." He says so I laugh looking around.
"Yeah, I still don't see you." I look around while walking some and still see nobody. "Can you see me right now?" I ask and he says yes. "Okay, so what am I doing? Huh? What am I doing!" I look around and with my left hand I grab my left boob.
"Nice try, dude. Now call someone else to freak them out." I tell him heading back inside.
"I wanna keep talking to you though." He tells me as I lock the door back.
"Well, I'm done talking to your fucking creepy-ass." I tell him.
"I don't really wanna kill you just like your father so I wouldn't hang up if I was you." He says making me stop smiling. "I don't plan on killing you, Riley. Unlike him, I did plan on that. I wanna keep you alive till the very end." He tells me. "You know what that means being a horror movie fan. You're gonna be the final girl whether you like it or not." He says making me end the call.
Immediately the closet door opens and a masked man holding a knife comes at me. I scream as he knocks me to the floor so I kick him, taking him down too. He gets on top of me as I struggle with him. He grabs a fistful of my hair and bangs my head on the floor making me groan in pain. He just watches me waving his knife around so when I kick him he cuts my neck a little. As he flies back I get up trying to unlock the door, but couldn't so I run upstairs like a dumbass. I never look back not wanting to risk anything.
In my room I call 911 as it stops ringing I scream, as Billy pops up at my window, I accidentally rip the cord out of the wall when I jumped. I never locked the windows upstairs that's probably how the guy got in because the window was closed earlier.
"What the fuck Billy!" I yell at him on the verge of tears.
"The door's locked. I heard screaming as I was walking over here. You alright?" He climbs in all the way holding me as I freak out.
"The killers in the house. He's in the house. He has a knife." I cry into him.
"He's gone. It's all right." He says in a low voice before something falls out of his pocket making me step back to look at the phone on the floor.
I step back not knowing if I can trust him because I was just talking to the killer, and he randomly shows up when I didn't hear the killer anymore.
"Allie, what?" He asks as I slowly back away then rush to leave. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait, wait, Allison, wait! Wait, Wait, Wait, Wait! What's going on?" He runs after me. "Allison, come back! Allison!" I ran downstairs opening the door letting out a terrible scream seeing the mask making Dewey scream too.
"Sorry! I found this. Come on!" He tells me then calls the others inside and they get Billy.
I sit in the ambulance getting looked at while they cuff Billy and take him away. "You're gonna be able to come down to the station and answer a few questions, Al?" They tell me.
"Oh, shit! Allison!" I hear Tatum and Sidney, "God, Al, I'm so sorry I was late." Tatum comes up.
"Are you alright?" Sidney asks me.
"Tatum, Sidney. You can't be here. This is an official crime scene." Dewey tells them so I say it's fine.
"Her mom is out of town, alright. She's staying with us tonight. And mom knows." Tatum tells him.
"Let's get you out of here." Burke tells me so the girls walk me to Dewey's vehicle.
"We'll meet you at the station." Sidney tells me as Dewey gets in and we drive off.
All that could go through my mind was, was it really Billy because everything that just happened made him look really guilty.

The Tarot Card Killer
Current Status: CLOSED
Lead Auror: Cassandra Astor-Reyes
Assisting Auror: Becker Savage
Conclusion: With the assistance of fellow auror Eden Blue, aurors Astor-Reyes and Savage were able to narrow down the killer’s location to a neighborhood they suspected he’d strike next. After searching what seemed to be a vacated home, Astor-Reyes and Savage were nearly ambushed by their suspect who’d been squatting in the home. Auror Astor-Reyes was able to subdue the suspect before they could injure either auror. After investigating the home, Astor-Reyes and Savage found enough evidence to confirm that their suspect was indeed the killer. The case is now closed.

sunset, the outskirts of bowling green, kentucky       ( @beckersavage )
There was some small part of him that had been hoping that whatever problems the vampires would be miraculously solved before they could actually leave for Kentucky, but there was no such luck, of course. That did nothing for the sense of impending doom that seemed to throb within his very soul in time with the throbbing in the palm of his hand. All prayer had seemingly fallen on deaf ears, and he had found himself packing something of a holy kit, for the event that Margot was right, and there was no before of a bad situation with creatures such as this. Holy water, crucifixes, stakes, the medal of Saint George worn around his neck, the cold medal of the pendant pressing against the top of his sacred heart, and yet somehow it still didn’t feel like enough.
For now, though, worrying would be pointless. That was best saved for entering the domain of the creatures. Now, though, they had just apparated to the designated spot, a safe distance from both the town and the coven, just as the sky was beginning to turn purple. As soon as they touched ground, he reached into his pocket, first pulling out a cigarette and putting it between his lips, then, before lighting it, holding out a silver medal just like his to Becker.
“Here, I had this blessed for you, just in case,” he explained, pausing after to light his cigarette. “Told Mama we’d be round for breakfast tomorrow mornin’ and to have the cornbread ready. Too generous of an estimate?”

SCREAM QUEEN Book 1: Conventional Final Girl
Stu Macher x reader x Billy Loomis
Okay so basically let’s just cut to the chase, the main character “(y/n)” is Sidney Prescott’s little step sister, yeah? Well what happens when she takes Sid’s place as the final girl? A whole lot.
Disclaimer: this follows the movie very closely with little change other than the reader insert portions, so like I’m not trying to be like “Oh yeah this is all me” bc it’s not (RIP Wes Craven 😔🙏🏻🕊⚰️)
—————
Chapter 5
—————
Previous Chapter / Next Chapter
Tumblr media
"Sidney Prescott and (y/n) (l/n) both escaped a vicious attack last night but one of them is the daughter of Maurine Prescott, who was brutally murdered last year when convicted killer Cotton Weary broke into their home and savagely raped and tortured the deceased. Cotton Weary is currently awaiting an appeal for the death sentence, handed down after the young Sidney testified against him..." The reporter just went on and on through the tv screen. Tatum was rubbing Sid's arm as a sign of everything will be okay. I held Sid's hand to signify the same message, gently squeezing it so she knows she's not alone. "It's never going to stop is it?" She asked with a small chuckle.
As Dewey sat across from us he notified, "Billy was released."
Sidney's face faltered once she heard this, I think she's still afraid of it all. I on the other hand slouched back with a wave of relief.
"His celular bill was clean, he didn't make those calls," Dewey said as he sat back in the chair, "We're checking every celular account in the county. Any calls made to you two or Casey Becker are being cross referenced, it's going to take some time but we'll find 'em."
I squeezed Sid's hand again and Tatum lightly punched her arm. "Okay," was all Sid could really say right now.
"We've got this, Sis." I said to her with a small smile.
I guess pulling up to school in a patrol car was cool? Kind of gave a real "Back off" vibe when we stepped on the school grounds. "Don't worry girls, it's school. You'll be safe here." Dewey reassured us...but if there's a possibility that the killer is another student, is it really all that safe? Reporters swarmed us once Sid and I were completely out of the car. One woman going as far as asking, "So how does it feel to be almost brutally butchered?" Seriously what thee fuck? Sid and Tatum walked ahead of me right as I was ready to hook it to another reporter like I did to Gale. Sadly enough though I was stopped by two pairs of arms holding me back while my legs went swinging.
"Let me at 'em!" I exclaimed to my mystery captors.
"Not a chance little Nancy Thompson," I could hear Randy's voice from my left.
"Yeah these reporters are worse than any Freddy Kruger!" And then there was Stu's cackle from the right.
"Fine screw it, I just don't want to see anymore of them haggling Sid again." I said as I slightly jumped out at the flock of reporters.
"Uh, where did Sid go anyways" I asked the two boys as I spun around. Finally seeing her talking to Weathers I tried to beeline but Stu held me back.
"Dude, (y/n) slow your roll. Syd's just talking to her," Stu said as he secured me against his chest. I did my best to hide the red embarrassment all over my face.
"Yeah probably fixing the mess you made last night," Randy said as he rolled my eyes.
His words struck something in me, I just calmed down and stopped fight Stu's hold, if anything I was holding myself now.
Stu punched Randy in the arm before said, "Way to go man."
"Wha- I-" Randy was about to pick his own fight with Stu again.
I beat them to it when I turned around still in Stu's grasp and said, "No he's right, what I did last night was reckless and now Sidney is the one who has to clean it up." I leaned my head on Stu's chest.
"C'mon (y/n), it wasn't that bad?" Randy backpedaled on his words to try and make me feel better but lets face it, when you punch someone on national tv... it's pretty bad.
At our lockers we waited around for the bell to ring. "This is a mistake, we shouldn't be here," Sid said as she gathered her books. I'm honestly with her on that, it's a total scare fest in the halls today. "I want you to meet me right here after class, okay Sid?" Tatum addressed my step sister but left me out of the question. Peaking my head over my locker door I arched an eyebrow. "I'll walk you out of class Erin," Stu pipped in before looking at himself in a mirror. "Yeah okay Chicken Stew," I rolled my eyes, trying not to laugh at my own pun. I thought Stu would've laughed but before he could Sid said, "Hey I haven't really seen Billy around, is he really pissed?" What the fuck Sidney? I thought. "Oh after you branded him the Candyman? No, his heart's broken!" Stu exclaimed, earning a punch from Tatum. He said "ow" as Tatum said his name in a stern frustrated manner.
Someone came running down the hall in what's now been dubbed the 'Ghostface' costume as they screamed bloody murder while jumping out at people. I let out a squeal before grabbing hold of Stu's tan and white over shirt. Feeling heat rise up to my face I quickly let go and lightly brushed out my hair to compose myself. Stu turned around and pinched my cheeks, "Awe is (y/n) scewed of da big bad boo-gy man?" I swatted his hands away while saying, "Given recent events, yeah obviously." Shuffling past Stu and over to Sid I notice his expression change for a split second for playful to envious. "Come on (y/n), you punched Gale Weathers on live news, I think you'll be fine if you get yelled at by a kid in a costume," Tatum said as she playfully rolled her eyes with a smirk. I couldn't take it anymore, whether it was the embarrassment, the fear, the secrets, or the regret. I just couldn't. I ran off from the group as both Tatum and Sid shouted after me.
As I ran down the hall I bumped into another figure.
"Shit!" I exclaimed as I pushed off of them.
"Hey it's just me," I heard an all too familiar voice say to me.
"Oh-oh... Billy," I said as I backed away.
Waving his index finger between us he asked, "You still think it's me?"
I reassure him I don't by saying, "No, I don't I was just shocked to see you." As I fiddled with my shirt.
"I swear it's not me (y/n)," Billy said stepping forward.
Looking up at him I said, "I know Billy, there was still someone in the house that night though. So can you please-" I cut myself off seeing the lack of inches in the space between Billy and I.
"I know, I know, the cops say I scared him away. It wasn't me (y/n)." He said as he looked down at me a little.
"I know, he called us again when we were at Tatum's..."
"See! Couldn't have been me, I was in jail," Billy said as he turned over his hands to reveal inky fingerprints. "Remember?"
"I'm sorry, but please understand," I started as I looked up.
"Understand what? My girlfriend and her little step sister would rather accuse me of being a psychopathic killer than touch me?" Billy looked back down at me, I could smell the spearmint gum roll off his breath.
"You know that's not true..." I said as I knitted my eyebrows together and grabbed a hold of his arm.
"Then what is it?" He asked, hurt and confusion heard in his voice.
"Billy, me and Sid were attacked and nearly filleted last night?!" I shouted, slightly appalled he'd even ask as if it weren't clear.
"I mean between us..." Billy said as his eyes stared down into my soul with an intensity I've never seen before.
"What do you mean between us?" I asked at this point very confused as I let go of him and take a step back.
"Isn't it obvious (y/n)? For the past five months, the smirks, the glances, the nudging, the little notes, Stu and I being practically all over you?" Billy said as he used his free hand that wasn't on the banister to wave around.
"No it wasn't obvious! I mean Stu I knew about but you?! Billy, you're my sister's boyfriend!" I exclaimed, getting justifiably annoyed and upset.
"Not anymore, she practically broke up with me the night at the station!" He raised his voice, making me flinch a little, he must've noticed since he let his body relax a little.
"Look Billy I've had a crush on you and Stu for months but I know for sure this isn't the way to go about things. Sidney didn't say she broke up with you and I'm not going to just be a rebound to make her jealous." I said resting my hand above his on the banister.
Billy scoffed before saying, "(y/n), be real here Sid doesn't want to see me anymore and like I said, the past five months..." Billy let his words trail off as he came closer to me, placing his hand on my forearm. Just like at the lockers my head was racing and everything felt so wrong, I just couldn't take it. I just stepped away, shaking my head while I walked off letting Billy shout my name.
Turning around to look at him I said, "I'm sorry if me having good morality for my sister's relationship is an inconvenience to you and your perfect existence!" I exclaimed before turning back round.
"What? What do yo- Nobody said that, (y/n)!" Billy shouted after me but it just faded out as I ran away.
Stomping my way into the bathroom I make my way over to one of the sinks, I dig in my backpack for an aspirin or something.
"They were never attacked, I think they made it all up," I heard one of the bathroom stalls say.
"Why would they lie about that?" A girl in another stall asked
"For attention, the girl and her sister have some serious issues!" The first girl replies.
Part of me wanted to hide in the bathroom stall like the sad girls in the movies always did but then I remembered, this is real life. In life you just gotta roll with the punches, so I'm doing just that, except this time I might punch back, again. Right when the two walk out of the stalls their faces dropped. Yeah I assumed seeing the face of one of your gossip subjects will do that to ya. I kept staring at them as they washed their hands, too scared to even look in my general direction. As they walked out I did that stupid petty wave where you swish your fingers up and down. Finally I can cry in peace, I thought as I walked into an empty stall. Deciding that the short few seconds I've been in here were enough for me to feel refreshed I walk out, my eyes red and puffy while my lashes stuck together.
"Pathetic," I said into the mirror. I always thought I held myself to a higher standard than this, not really with the crying thing. More so with the Stu and Billy thing...
I don't have time to think about it much when I hear a strange noise in the restroom. Getting low to the ground I check underneath all the stalls. Empty. Looking around I notice a loud vent in the wall, that must've been it. As I go back to shuffling around my bag I could've sworn I heard someone whisper my name. Maybe it's better to ignore it? Slowly and carefully I get back down low to check again. This time I'm met with a pair of beat up leather work boots dropping down from the stall. "Oh shit," I whispered to myself.
The stall door unlatches quickly and I try to make a run for it but I'm caught by the Ghostface.
Thrashing around as he holds back my arms I asked, "Alright real funny, who is it? Stu, Rand, Billy? If this is some sort of pay back then it won't work!" The man behind  the mask said nothing, but he violently jerked my face to the bathroom mirror. "What?" I ask, my face clearly showing malevolence towards whoever it is pulling the prank. That was until he pulled out an eight-inch long hunting knife. He slowly and lightly dragged the knife along my torso, from the collar of my cropped shirt all the way down to the button of my low rise jeans, applying extra pressure near my zipper. "Ya' know if I wasn't so skeptical about you trying to kill me right now we could probably take this in a very different direction," I said as a more matter-of-factly sentence. I'm not sure if this shocked the masked murderer or gave him a change of heart but his grip loosen and I BOOKED IT!  I slammed the bathroom door open passing by a couple of teachers but I really just wanted to get the hell out of here.
After calming down a little bit I got outside of the school just quick enough to hear Principal Himbry say, "Attention now kids, due to the recent events that have occurred effective immediately, all classes are suspended until further notice," Holy shit, "The Woodsboro police department has issued a citywide curfew beginning at nine o'clock tonight." The whooping and hollering cheers that were so loud just a second ago died down into monotone boos. At least we're out of school?
"It was just some sick fuck having a laugh, sue me." Tatum said as she rolled her eyes at me.
"No, it was him Tatum I know it. Or else he wouldn't have a huge ass hunting knife!" I exclaimed in a huff.
"Okay well, you're not to be alone anymore. If you pee, we all pee. Is that clear?" Asked Tatum
Sid and I looked each other up and down simultaneously say, "Ew, please no."
Spooking up from behind us was Stu as he blabbered nonsensical words that most likely would've made sense if we were paying attention.
"I don't know what you did girls," He said handing each of us flowers, "but on behalf of the entire student body we all say THANK YOU!" Stu shouted full force from his lungs.
"Stop it Stu," Tatum said as she hit him with the little purple flower.
I was so distracted by the two that I didn't notice Stu change targets and come barreling towards me, hoisting me over his shoulder.
"Stu! Oh my god asshole! I'd like to be returned to the security of my feet on the ground!" I shout as I hit his back with my palms.
In the midst of my one sided battle Stu announces, "To celebrate this impromptu fall break, I propose we have a party. Tonight at my house!"
Looking over to my right I see my step sister's face contort into an emotion of unease, "Are your sure?"
"Yeah as long as this little vixen doesn't invite the entire world!" Stu exclaims as he motions to his girlfriend who is currently keeping me company by swinging my free hand.
Stu goes on by saying, "Intimate gather, intimate friends," whilst poking my thigh right below my ass. He should be glad Tatum didn't see that one.
"What do you say Sid? I mean pathos could have it's perks?" Tatum piped up just as Stu let me down. Now Tatum and I have switched spots beside Stu.
"Could totally protect you, yo I'm so buff, I got you covered bro!" Stu does a macho man impersonation as he twirls around Tatum.
I fall a little back from the group, wondering if Billy will be there... he most likely will, won't he?
"I mean c'mon Sid? (Y/n), you with me? It could be fun." Tatum says as she turns to us both.
While the girls were focused on each other Stu looked over at me and snapped me out of my thoughts, literally. The loud noise made me look up.
"Huh?" I asked, looking at the trio in front of me.
"The party (y/n), you in?" Tatum asked as Stu kissed her neck
"Yeah fine, whatever. I'm in," I said as I walked up in front of them.
"Niiice," Stu growled out, "Cool, you guys bring food, alright?"
I don't know what it was but Stu did something which prompted me to shout, "You're being weird Stu!"

THE FINAL RIDE - Review
DISTRIBUTOR: Wild Eye Releasing
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS:  An Anthology with three tales including the ghost of an 80's fitness guru, a Tattoo that won't stop spreading, and an Uber Driver that picks up her final customer for the night, not knowing that she's in for the ride of her life,
REVIEW: THE FINAL RIDE is a home-grown horror anthology by director, writer and editor Mike McMurran. This is Mike’s second feature, his previous the 2015 film “Secret Santa.” The wrap-around story focuses on an “Uber” driver who carries the characters in the first two yarns to their destinations of horror, and ends up the focus of the last tale.
The film is a mixed bag of horror and comedy. The first story, the tale about the 80's fitness guru could and should have been developed into a feature screenplay all on its own. It is a fresh dark comedy story that satirizes the exercise crazy from that period. The writing is fresh, funny, and is on an entirely different level from the rest of the film. There is something about the segment that had this Frank Oz feel in terms of its wit and execution. The other two tales are simply okay, they are not bad, but they’re just not that original or feel as well plotted, nor the dialogue as crisp, as the first segment. In some ways they felt a bit disappointing when viewed after the first segment.
The cast is equally a mixed bag of talent. The credits on the film and on web sources are a bit sketchy so I’m not sure who everyone plays. Still, I want to acknowledge the actor who played the workout instructor on the videos. His performance was part Richard Simmons and part Macho Man Randy Savage. He had the voice, the facial expressions and the charisma that brought the character to life. The couple in the story were also solid performances, but the actor who played the husband especially stands out for his frenetic performances as he becomes this crazed health nut with an 80’s spin to it. The actress who played the driver also delivered a noteworthy performance. I enjoyed her work in the earlier parts of the film and think her work in the last episode was inhibited by the cliched material.
The production values are simply utilitarian. Nothing stands out and it feels a bit like a well made local TV commercial. The edits and framing lack any artistry, and the cinematography felt a bit flat. The locations are fine but in some cases didn’t feel authentic. The special effects were okay and the score didn’t fully support the visuals or performances.
Mike McMurran’s THE FINAL RIDE is an okay film that feels like a local filmmaker with a home-grown budget. Again I loved the story about an 80's fitness guru, which shows a lot of promise. The rest of the film drags that down a few levels and simply doesn't pop or sizzle like the first piece. You know what to expect when you watch a home-grown horror film like this, and I’m sure you will find some enjoyment in it. It’s okay, but I would still like to see McMurran take a shot at turning that fitness ghost story into a feature. With a few changes and a slightly bigger budget I think he might be able to deliver a film that does well on the film festival circuit. Also, I think he might be a better comedy or dark comedy writer based on what he’s served up here.
