Day 30/100 #the100dayproject I didn’t have a lot of time today because I had old friends to visit, a lunch date out with my husband, and sunshine to soak in before the rains start again. Buongiorno 😊 il mese scorso ho iniziato a leggere libri in inglese ed ora non mi fermo più 😜 Ho iniziato a leggere #winterhousehotel di #benguterson Elizabeth, una bambina di undici anni, va a casa degli zii per le vacanze di natale e lì trova una busta. Gli zii le hanno scritto che loro sono in vacanza e dato che non può restare sola, le hanno prenotato e pagato un soggiorno al Winterhouse hotel. Nella busta c'è anche il biglietto del treno per andare là. Elizabeth è confusa. Aveva sentito parlare di questo hotel dagli zii, parlavano di nascosto di un misterioso finanziatore che aveva pagato il tutto. Chi era? E perché? Elizabeth è un'esperta di giochi di parole, gli anagrammi sono la sua passione. Ed è una divoratrice di libri. Quando arriva all'hotel si imbatte in una marea di cose strane, ospiti che fanno un puzzle da due anni, caramelle speciali che sembrano uscite da un libro. Quali segreti nasconde quell'hotel? E chi è quella coppia vestita tutta di nero che sembra tanto interessata ad Elizabeth? L'inizio è andato un po' al rallentatore. Quello che io ho spiegato in poche righe, nel libro ha occupato lo spazio di un'ottantina di pagine. La lettura però è scorrevole, alcune parti sono un po' complicate ma nel complesso non è difficile da capire. All'interno del libro ci sono illustrazioni molto belle, nello stile della copertina. Working (slowly) through my April reading list... Spenser Confidential hit Netflix, and while it felt more like a throwback to Spencer For Hire than the books, it was a good time and I hope they make more. I’ve had Mortal Stakes, the third Spenser book, on my table for a while (and some of my own detective stories I’ve been trying to write), I decided to go back and listen to the first two Spenser books before starting that one. Other than Robert Parker, I’ve also managed to be impressed with “The Winterhouse Mysteries” and “On the Come Up”, disappointed with “Down the River Unto the Seas”, and add more books to my Libby loans than I could actually get through since it’s the end times. Oh, hello library hold I forgot I’d placed.... perfect timing since I just finished Bruce Feiler’s “Secrets of Happy Families” and was a little burned out on podcasts. Having been sick most of the last week or so I haven’t had the attention span for listening to my audiobooks, so I got caught up on a bunch of podcasts. But then I started getting a little antsy—I needed books but was having a hard time focusing.
