The Drift Compatible Poll!!!!!

A tournament for duos and trios that are so in sync, they could pilot a Jaeger together! Not familiar with Pacific Rim or the concept of drifting/being drift compatible? Here's some handy dandy excerpts straight from the Pacific Rim Wiki:

"The process of Drifting is a type of Mind Meld that requires the pilots to share their memories, instinct and emotions with each other. Drifting allows them to act as one consciousness and control the very movement of the Jaeger itself, with one pilot controlling the "right hemisphere" and the other the "left hemisphere"." "Whether two pilots are "Drift Compatible" with one another depends largely on their personal connection and their ability to work in sync with each other." "Trust is also an implicit part in creating a strong bond between potential partners and familiarity with a partner makes fostering trust easier, as it is usually more difficult between strangers."

So basically, a duo or trio that is drift compatible must: 1) Have a strong personal connection 2) Be very in sync with each other 3) Trust each other

Got it? Use this form to submit your duos and trios! But wait! Don't forget to read the:

SUBMISSION RULES

1. Only submit duos and trios please! As far as I know, at most three people can pilot a Jaeger together, so I won't accept quartets or anything bigger than that! Sorry!

2. Relationships can be romantic or platonic, they just have to be close enough to pilot a Jaeger together!

3. No Pacific Rim characters! This tournament is for duos/trios that aren't from Pacific Rim!

4. No Harry Potter characters! After some consideration, Dream SMP characters are fine but Dream himself is still banned from the tournament. We don’t associate with Dream or J.K. Rowling here.

5. No real people! Fictional characters only!

6. You may submit multiple duos/trios if you want, but please don't submit a duo/trio multiple times! It skews the submission results which is very unfair for the rest of the potential competitors.

7. While an explanation is not required, I encourage you to write one up because I'll be using some in the descriptions for the polls!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the character foils showdown. Character foils are an excellent narrative tool and go painfully unappreciated. So this is meant to give them some love!

Character foils are two characters who parallel each other in the narrative. They contrast each other, highlighting their similarities and differences to strengthen the narrative. Are they two people who react very differently to the same situation? Are they a reflection of what the other could've been? Are they people who are extremely similar but were shaped by their different situations? Are they two incredibly different people with one or two key similarities that the narrative uses to parallel them? They can be executed many many different ways. And often, they add to the story very well. This is all about them.

RULES:

1. I will not be accepting submissions from Harry Potter or South Park.

2. Be civil with the other voters! Do not say "why would you vote for [x]", "[x] doesn't deserve to win", etc. Also, do not attack the media the contestant is from. Nobody wants to hear you talking about how that show sucks and is horribly written and anyone who likes it deserves nothing (Yes, I've seen that shit on other polls. I wish I was joking.) Seriously guys, be civil. This is a poll on the internet.

3. You can submit more than one pair, but please don't submit the same pair more than once for the sake of my sanity /lh

4. This is gonna take a while because A. This is my first poll, and B. I am kinda busy, sorry. Please be patient!

5. Please do not tag adult and minor or familial foils as ships. No thank you.

6. Propaganda is encouraged, but please be civil to others in your propaganda. Again, remember rule two! If I feel like you're being particularly toxic, I have the right to block you.

Some are DEFINITELY pushing Tadia because the girl is white and pretty. That’s literally it. Tbh I don’t think many are pushing Tolivia though. But might God how some people are pushing Tadia as if they even know what kind of gf N is 🥴

Chiiiiile....people are shipping Tom and Z with ANYONE under the sun aside from each other lol. They would ship Z with the man on the moon,and would ship Tom with a rock if they could rotfl. 😂

Anything but shipping the "besties" (Tomdaya) together.... 😏

I do think there is a definite bias going on however for sure,because even Tomdaya fans didn't hang on for dear life for 7 months after a breakup like the Tadia stans are. 👀

Even so, at least with Tomdaya we definitely had VERY legit MIXED signals from them that caused us as fans to be perplexed and still holding out hope for a few months after they had split up (ie, the Tomdaya "energy" during the FFH press tour, wearing Tom's shirt,the Cartier watch, Tom still wearing Z's neck chain gift while out with Olivia, Tom reaching out to Z about the MJ cosplayer, Z playing Spider-Man games and wearing the MJ sweater, Z wearing what LOOKED like the Piaget necklace that Tom had given her even in Greece with JE, Tom posting himself in the Tomdaya jacket, Tom doing a birthday msg to Z, etc)....Like,these signals are so legit MIXED that if I didn't know any better, I would almost wonder if they did those things on purpose to try to go back and hide from fans when they actually broke up with each other lol! 😖😂

There's just no comparison imo. So I'm really not sure why ppl keep bringing those ships up. Even the Tomdaya Temperature poll shed light on what ppl really think....and nobody barely mentioned that they actually thought that Tadia was still legit a thing. 😏
