Have you ever seen something that just…didn’t make any sense? …………………………. After spending time in Marrakech, I decided to do a day trip to another city. (👀 You’ll soon see where) On the way there, we kept passing by these trees with some funny looking things on them. It wasn’t until we made a full stop at one, that we realized there were goats 🐐 in the trees! We came out of the car, and out of nowhere, some random man comes from under the tree with a baby goat, asking if we wanted to hold it. 😂 I fell for the okie dokie cause, as you guys already know, I love the animals! 🥰 ………………………. Morocco is home to the famous argan oil (aka Moroccan oil). Certain regions will have an immense number of argan trees and oddly enough you are likely to see goats climbing up them to eat the argan nuts. However, these here goats clearly didn’t climb a thing! Queen Nanny was a leader of the Maroons (Kidnapped Africans who escaped from slavery) at the beginning of the 18th century in Jamaica. Blackness in Brazil: Brazil is the country with the largest population of people of African descent outside of the African continent. 🇧🇷

The Black Africans brought to Brazil through the Middle Passage belonged to two major communities: The West African and the Bantu people. The West Africans mostly belong to the Yoruba people. Other Enslaved belonged to the Fon people and other neighbouring ethnic groups. Bantu people were mostly brought from present-day Angola and the Congo, the Shona kingdoms of Zimbabwe, and coastal Mozambique. They were sent on a large scale to Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, and Northeastern Brazil.

Afro-Brazilian communities are steadfast in preserving their rich cultural heritage, which is deeply rooted in centuries of African influence. Through vibrant traditions of music, dance, religion, and cuisine, Afro-Brazilians celebrate their ancestry while asserting their unique identity in the multicultural fabric of Brazil. . . . ——

Adding new pictures to this series, where I recreate traditional old hairstyles from various African tribes, is by far my favorite. \n\nEvery time I finish one hairstyle and I watch myself in the mirror, I think, “this is my new everyday hairstyle.” \nLol, I am way too lazy to do those styles every day, but you get the point. It makes me feel truly beautiful. Cultures are made by humans; therefore, no culture in this world is perfect. African culture, in all its diversity and differences, has its flaws but has so much more beauty. Four years ago today, I almost died in Myanmar. …………………….. It’s hard to believe how much time has passed since that day. I will never forget what happened and where it happened. I still live with scar on my face from that accident. 📍Bagan, Myanmar 🇲🇲 To think one of the most beautiful places on earth could have left me so traumatized. It was 4am and I was riding a motorbike through a desert area consisting of hundreds of temples. I was looking to watch the sunrise. I lost complete control of my bike and was about to crash into a moving truck or a tree. I was able to swerve the bike toward the tree, but the bike split in half, dragging me across the ground while the motor was still on. I had damages doctors thought I would never recover from. Thanks to fellow traveler friends I made on that trip, who were getting me to the hospitals, to doctor visits, and even convincing me to make the most of my time trip, I started to mend. I decided to stay in Myanmar, leaving Bagan and heading to Ngapali beach, where I started to heal very quickly. It was all thanks to friends and the amazing Burmese people who voluntarily took care of me, seeing my condition, that got me through. Been grateful for my entire life ever since, and that will be no different for this upcoming year.
