When Louis heads back to his van in the morning, boxer briefs missing and a draft coming through the large hole in the shoulder of his t-shirt, he thinks maybe Harry might be worth sticking around in this town for a little bit longer.

His chest is no longer heaving and the tears have almost completely stopped, but Harry can tell that Louis’ thoughts are deeper than one bad day. “Do you want cuddles, love?” Harry says the question like he already knows the answer, and his thoughts are confirmed when Louis gives a nod while nuzzling into his neck. It feels like home to Louis. Harry wishes he could give Louis the world, but cuddles and hummed melodies will have to do.

Or-or keep them. For a long time, he felt like he had to be granted permission for things, like feeling emotions or going outside alone. When his dad died, Dean had no one to answer to, and was forced to realize that he didn’t actually have to look at another adult in the room before cracking a genuine smile. Because it was okay, now. Dean remembers being 6, and seeing a couple holding hands across a diner table, and wishing his dad would hold his. Just for the closeness. He didn’t know that kind of softness was allowed if there wasn’t a reason.
