i keep seeing people saying that they killed izzy for shock value a la game of thrones and i just— not every character death is there for shock value?? just because you don't expect it doesn't mean it's specific purpose is to garner shock value.

izzy very clearly represented piracy. he was steadfast and staunch in his ways and he held onto the traditions of piracy with a TIGHT fist throughout the first season and the start of the second. not to mention, s2 was ALWAYS leading to this theme of "the end of piracy". the clues were there the whole season!!! and by that logic, if izzy = piracy, then end of piracy = end of izzy.

im not happy about his death!! im disappointed hes gone!! i loved him, he was probably my favorite character this season!! BUT i do understand why djenks did it. and it was NOT a "for shock value" kind of thing.

some people are reeeeal quick to like get super defensive and jump onto this "omg it was for shock value! there was no other purpose! what bad writing! what a bad writer!" bandwagon when things they don't personally like or agree with happen on their favorite shows, but honestly not everything you don't like is "bad writing" or "just there for shock value" or "purposeless". maybe take a couple minutes to think critically about it and to like analyze the choice within the frame of the whole season and the whole show and its themes before making those kinds of (oftentimes baseless) accusations?

it's one thing to be upset with something that happened and to not like it, and it's another thing entirely to then blame it on bad writing or a clueless, vicious writer who doesn't care about their characters or their story or their audience.

for context, keita/raze (he/him) is my irl partner. he's been a simp for alucard (castlevania) longer than i've begun simping for strahd. i only discovered this years into the relationship when we watched castlevania (where i expected to be a bigger simp for castlevania), and instead HE made high pitch simping noises as alucard appeared on the screen and i was like -sus eyes- wait a GOSH DARN MINUTE-. also, keita has a thing for necks. i shrugged it off when he first told me, but years later i started simping for strahd and now i look back at that moment like 'hm. odd.-'. anyways, i mostly started dating him because he sounds like a kermit the frog southern guy who goes 'howdy howdy' and he says 'i should be golden' unironically and i think thats pretty funny

tag meme: my top 9 characters

i was tagged by @regallibellbright so with no particular order lets get into it

I have decided to not put any characters of my own here because then this list would be filled with my characters and nothing else

also only one per series since i want this to be an overall representation of my favorite characters

1.Phosphophyllite/Phos (land of the lustrous)

Phos is by far one of my favorite characters due to how they change throughout the series

also watching them suffer is what got me my permanent angst craving

phos is one of those characters that unfortunately due to being by far the most popular character in the series the fandom tends to dislike every other character in the series (particularly in this case since a lot of the other characters have mistreated phos in some way) which i think is a disservice to those characters

but phos is still my favorite

2.Blake Thorburn (Pact: Devils and Details) (no art for him because im too lazy to ask for permission to put him here and i dont want to put a piece of art on my post without permission)

ill be honest it was hard to pick if Taylor or Blake were going to be put here, since i didnt want to put two wildbow protagonists here, and while Worm was much more enjoyable for me to read i think Pact was a much more memorable story for me,

Since like blake struggled through the horrors, i struggled against decaying attention span

In general i gravitate toward fantasy stories more than superhero stories

3. Eve and aoi (birdie wing golf girls story)

hey remember a second ago when i was debating over which wildbow protagonist to put here because i didnt want to put both

Yeah fuck that these two are a pair because i love them both and refuse to seperate them

These two are genuinely one of my favorite protagonist duo's ever

like they are so funny with their insane antics and golf

4. Yuki Takamiya (thirteen sentinels aegis rim)

this one proved to be really hard to decide between Yuki, Okino or 426 since they are all favorites

i decided that it was best to fit one of the protagonists into this since it would be hard to talk about the other two without spoiling anything and needing a ton of context

from the second Yuki showed up i knew she would likely be a favorite

what i didnt expect was for her to be arguably one of the smartest characters in the game

I would say out of the protagonists she is the second smartest with Gouto being the smartest

Like i did not expect her route to be a detective story

5. Power (chainsaw man)

first person on this list who isnt a protagonist, and i did consider putting Asa instead of her and while i am undoubtedly more invested in Asa im also much more entertained by power

also i need to put one character who isnt a main character here lest i be seen as a basic bitch

6. Sayeon Lee (hand jumper)

we only have one season of her but this girl is so mentally unwell its like catnip to me

im eagerly awaiting the start of season 2

also to my surprise me reccomending vibes this webtoon caused a bunch of wormblr people to read this too so when season 2 starts i could probably talk to those people about it

7.Daan/ the doctor (fear and hunger termina)

this was a tough descision between Daan and Marina because while i love them both equally Daan has the better narrative in my head with his doomed by the narrative swag

8.Iwha (hero killer

she's cool when she murders people

9. Kikuri Hiroi (bocchi the rock)

girl who is doomed by the narrative

but the narrative is a slice of life so overall its not that bad

i dont have a great vocabulary. emotional moments can be hard because i only know few words and i wantvto communicate so many things….im always googling synonyms

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

i love it when other people do it, but i am not multilingual- i don’t feel like i could do it justice.

hetalia- they are still up on fanfiction.net and at 13 yrs old, my prose was not something that should have been published on the internet. i cant take them down, though, so i go to my profile whenever i need a laugh

it is so fucking wild to me that people will go out of their way to post anti NPD stuff in NPD community tags and still think that us nasty narcissists (sarcasm) are the bad guys. bestie (even more sarcasm) youre the one intruding in spaces for mentally ill people. youre the one trying to cast every single person with a specific disorder as an abuser and actively putting those baseless accusations in tags that are not fucking meant for you.

these people will go on and on about how entitled they think we are, but then the moment they see us trying to have our own community to share advice and resources or just commiserate or joke together, they cant help but try to make everything about themselves and their trauma as if we dont fucking have enough of our own. the hypocrisy is ASTOUNDING lol. they have exactly zero awareness of their own bullshit. its always "empathy is what makes us human!!!!! ✌️" until you ask them to maybe extend that empathy to people with a personality disorder, and then its all aboard the dehumanization train! first stop, those filthy fucking narcs!!

im really just spitting vitriol because i know ill fixate on this if i dont let out my anger, so lemme just be a total cunt for a minute and if the narc abuse truthers stumble on this and wanna point at me and say im proof that narcissists are cruel, then boo hoo, go find a pwNPD who has more patience for being demonized. these people are fucking disgusting. they act like spoiled children. ive put in so much fucking work to better myself and learn how to play nice and be compassionate and patient and kind despite my obstacles, while these absolute jackasses go out of their way to insult and harass us, even advocating for us to be fucking abused, and yet im the one seen as a villain just because of the label for my symptoms. these assholes are like fucking toddlers playing make believe and inventing some cartoon villain to be mad at and then bawling their eyes out the moment someone tells them they have to get along with others, except i actually LIKE children and can have patience for them because theyre not old enough to know any better, unlike the grown fucking adults who go prancing around advocating for pwNPD to be neglected and manipulated without any regard for who we are as people. absolutely fucking vile. id call them victims of pop psychology misinformation but they arent victims, theyre fucking perpetrators of ableism who are the ones actually causing harm while so many pwNPD are just trying to exist in peace. disgusting, appalling, they make me fucking sick with their unwillingness to give a single shit about their fellow human beings. and theyre so fucking stubborn, digging their heels in whenever anyone tries to tell them theyre being cruel, playing the victim and crying crocodile tears and blaming us for being so fucking mean for daring to want some fucking decent treatment instead of being treated like scum all the time. they act like we have victim complexes but they cant handle the thought that maybe they ARE victimizing us, that THEYRE the abusive ones for treating us all like literal demons. all fucking hypocrisy. i hope in the next life they get better heads on their shoulders because i dont have much hope for them in this one. shitty whiny assholes.

villain vev au where he still ends up falling for alto, and eventually convinces him to come see him solo, where they slowly make things work, abandoning things for a moment of peace while keeping appearances up. alto slowly adapts a double life to see vev in the night and still be part of the group set to defeat him. its this kinda romeo and juliet scenario where the only thing keeping them apart is their allegiances. ofc i dont want to spoil when things end up getting to a breaking point, but it sure does come crashing down!!

Ok, so I just looked it up, and this book is from 1994 and now I feel old.

I love it, and for probably 20 years I’ve considered this one of my absolute favorites. Might be silly, but once I saw the author was releasing the books from this series?? I kept checking back like once per month, hoping that it finally arrived, because they’ve been out of print for ages.

So, anyway, technically this is part 2 of a 3 book series (6 if you count the other 3 book series set in the same world), but it can be read standalone. The previous book - The Prince of Ill Luck - is the story of her grandparents, which is shortly skimmed over at the start.

Druyan had been married to a man much older than, on a farm in god-knows-where, with sheep and grain and the ocean nearby. She had been rather content with life, at least until pirates attacked and her husband got killed. Now she’s desperate; she’s sure her own family wouldn’t want to take her back in, and her husband’s family would marry her off to whoever they want to give the land to. If anyone finds out her husband is dead, that is. A childless widow only has to hold the estate and pay the taxes for a year and a day, then it’s hers. So that’s what she’s gonna do and no one will stop her.

Unfortunately, most of the men have been called into the war against the pirates, so all people left on the farm are her, the housekeeper, three children - and one of the pirates the men had captured before moving out to drive back the attack.

He’s Kellis, from a land across the sea. He’s a mage, he can have visions by looking into reflecting surfaces like water. He did not join the pirates too willingly, as his people had been attacked by them, too. But he had to find a way to leave his home, to sail across the ocean in search of the fabled city of mages.

Druyan strikes a deal with him: Help her hold the farm, work for her for a year and a day, then she’ll give him a horse and provisions to help him on the way. He doesn’t need her help for his travel, but he feels indebted to her because of the attack and agrees.

I don’t want to spoil too much of the story, but it’s half about keeping the farm, half about defeating the pirates, and both of them will be heroes in their own way.

I’m having a hard time putting into words why I love this book so much. They’re both ordinary people, trying to be happy with whatever life throws at them, while being told what to do by just about everyone. And both have extraordinary skills, which are mistrusted by others. I love Druyan for being so resilient, for fighting for what she wants, after all her life everyone has told her that it doesn’t matter what she wants. I love Kellis for being so good and kind, trying to do his best, even if everyone distrusts him.

The story is written from both Druyan’s and Kellis’ point of view, with very few different ones sprinkled in.

Content warnings I would add: Violence (she gets hurt, too), animal death, death of side characters, misogyny, implied sex

I know that a lot of people can't afford to pay for fast pass (am one of them), and don't want it spoiled for them
