what exactly is kisame kicking around doing in the reborn au? Or did I just miss this somewhere, i know hes friends with itachi somehow but like, what ELSE is he up to???
obito isn't around to fuck up kiri, so kisame stays and goes for his position as one of the seven swordsmen again. i don't think kisame is a Plan Guy so he's not going to go out of his way to make dramatic changes, but he might go into certain other pieces of Kiri Drama with a more firm sense of his own stance & what he could do about it.
i'm not actually 100% sure what was just The Shinobi System Is Fucked vs Obito Fucked It Up so I might change the details, but I can see Kisame assassinating Yagura earlier if a civil started or the bloodline elimination nonsense happened? so let's say the minute there were whispers of the civil war, kisame was like "lol no," did some assassinations, and threw in with mei. most higher-ups know what kisame did, but he has mei's support and between that and his own reputation, no questions him. mostly he's trying to be a good kiri-nin while also clinging to his personal ideals
(i briefly thought about mizukage!kisame, but i don't think he'd really go for it if someone else was available because, again, he's not really a Plan Guy. plus being mizukage gives him less time to be doing other stuff)
he runs into team 4 at their chunin exam! and he joins akatsuki as kiri's representative :)

idk if I'm going to ever write for it so I'm gonna put it here, my reborn Yatagarasu AU. I guess if I get a little encouragement I'll want to write it more but I have to get some thoughts out or I will explode.
It started because I thought Beanix and Kay should meet and do crimes together. I think they should fight corruption and be overly dramatic while annoying Edgeworth. I mean, think about it, in the first game, Phoenix's whole thing was exposing notorious blackmailers and corrupted officials and generally being unafraid of facing mob families when everyone else is kinda scared to take any action.
before the cut to so much rambling, I need to get one question out of the way so...
anyway, lore below, I just didn't want to put that under the cut where no one will read far enough to see it lol
That and he also has experience with eccentric thieves. Also, they're both named after mythical birds and named specifically to be silly with their dialogue ('Mr. Wright, right?' "Kay 'kay?'). I also just want a reason for them to pose as father and daughter and be able to pull it off perfectly.
Now for actual plot stuff, I am of the opinion that Phoenix has acquired some weird-ass skills that he uses in weird-ass ways, I mean in canon he has a talent for bluffing and he uses it to absolutely dominate at poker. So I'm thinking this guy, who hasn't risked his life in over a year, fresh out of leads to fight the case with his disbarment, needs enrichment. This comes in the form of Kay investigating him out of interest as his role of 'that man' and discovering that he's pretty neat actually. She looks at his case files and finds him silly enough to recruit for a new project.
The re-emergence of the Yatagarasu is directly correlated to the dark age of the law and the increasing corruption practically everywhere. The law makers and law keepers of Japalifornia ignore the truth for their own self interest and that is Not Good. Kay recruits Ema, who is interning at the police department and on her way to becoming a detective turned forensic investigator. She is also stem girl extraordinaire who wants to use her tech for good and not to help the police. Funded by Franziska (because the best use of Manfred's fuck you money is actively fighting the corruption he was a part of) the Yatagarasu plan to expose as much corporate and legal filth as possible. Because to build a new legal system, the other one must be destroyed a bit.
In comes Phoenix, who through past cases and his work at the Borsht Bowl, just happens to have a pretty good amount of criminal connections. He's inconspicuous, already kind of undercover, and he knows how to get people to talk. He's disillusioned with the law and settled into a character that requires him to convincingly act at all times. Also his daughter is a magician and I think it would be really funny for him to learn a little sleight of hand and how to use throwing knives only for him to turn around and use those skills for Crime.
In return for info and his help with the Yatagarasu project, Phoenix gets more assistance in his investigation into Kristoph, which makes it easier to keep him and Trucy safe. Also in this AU Kristoph is worse and more invasive and more willing to cause problems if he catches Phoenix learning too much. Every one of their shared dinners consists of Kris poisoning Phoenix's wine and them switching it until they're both confused and Phoenix ends up drinking it but survives anyway.
Another part of this AU that I would want to touch upon would be Phoenix's reputation outside of being a fallen famous lawyer. I think that his work getting multiple mob members, prosecutors, a police chief, and generally terrifyingly powerful people incarcerated would get him noticed by people. I like to think that he's trying his best to look pathetic and depressed but the whispers around him make him sound kind of terrifying and it's only because of that that he feels secure enough to take Trucy along with him to the bowl for poker matches. He also is trying to learn her perceiving power, which he can't do but he does get really good at silently communicating with Trucy to the point that they become a kind of terrifying duo.
I just... weird girl crime group (Maya is not allowed, she'll just get falsely accused of murder again)

“Your passion is always a source of inspiration, my friend, but perhaps it would serve better than in the form of choice words with Lord Lolorito”
“Forgive me. I think my temper got the better of me, as all”
“The Doman’s plight seems to have struck a chord within you. One might think it personal”
“........”
“Is it?”
“well......my father is Doman”
“.....I see’
“He was only a boy when he found himself in Thanalan. Had it not been for the kindness of my grandparents, I don’t know what would have become of him”
“Such kindness seems to be rare, nowadays”
“Twas rare even back then”
“Is that why this upsets you so? Because you see your father in our guests?”
“Not quite. I feel....responsible....for them somehow. How can I call myself his daughter if I cannot do for his countrymen what my grandfather did for him?”
“No one expects that of you Thalia”
“No......but I expect it of myself”

anonymous said : I see! Thank you for that explanation, I hope it’s not an uncomfortable topic for you? I’ve seen many species have different definitions and understanding of how romantic and sexual orientations work, I assume the Vidyadhara are no different in that aspect? As in there is attraction to no one, everyone, only the same gender, only the opposite gender, and so forth? Since the Aeons themselves are referred to by neutral pronouns the majority of the time, I don’t imagine they would have an issue with it. Especially given many of them were likely mortal at one point.
As for the Luofu… is it an… open minded place, in terms of who one can love?
⸻ shaking his head gently , he urges for ease of mind. ❝ not at all. if it is a subject matter that fascinates you , i will entertain your queries without judgement. ❞ for species to enquire about other species is by all means understandable , in fact , dan heng has posited aplenty to several he has passed in his travels. the unknown is often enticing , after all. ❝ the concept of sexuality is a foreign one for me , however , i believe it is something that extends to interspecies. of course , intraspecies alignment and romance exists too , but to study the topic it would be best to amplify the sample to eliminate biases. considering teachings evolve overtime , this would also apply to sexual orientation. ❞
with that being said , the archivist now allocates his reading for the evening. or rather , he will browse the entries to identify if any texts might pertain to this aspect. both for vidyadhara culture and the luofu.
❝ ultimately , it depends from person to person , being to being. some may have more traditional ties whilst others may embrace conventionality. i have no doubt that there are open — minded residents on the luofu , but others may not share the same predilection. ❞

Uselessly reminding you that these things are all canon in TOTK:
- Riju is super short for a gerudo her age, but still way taller than Link
- Link has a pet koi fish (or multipul depending on how many pools you put in your dream home)
- Being able to name the piss horse golden horse implies that Zelda had not given it a name yet. Perhaps because she’s a perfectionist and must think of the perfect name, or because she rescued the horse very recently before totk, but fell in love with it so quickly that she just had to have a picture of it in her house.
- The amount (and quality) of paintings done by Princess Zelda points towards her being very artistically talented, which is not something shown in botw. Perhaps this is a sign of her feeling more free and comfortable to be herself.
- Link has 8 ear piercings in total
- Link is still very short, but, it’s easier to see his muscle definition than in botw, meaning he did actually grow like a normal person just not… vertically.
- In the original Japanese text, Zelda calls the Hateno house “the house” instead of “my house” 👀
-The elemental armor headgear will allow you to dye Link’s hair at the dye shop.
- Originally, I thought Link could see the koroks in botw because he was only 17, and that koroks sorta worked like the picori, in that only kids could see them. However, he can still see them in his 20s. So, the games could be implying that he sees them because he was raised as one of them in a past life, and that part of his soul is still connected to the forest.
- The game likely takes place around 5-6 years after botw, because there are quite a lot of new child NPCs, none of which look or act young enough to be considered toddlers.
huge spoilers under the cut
- Link was canonically a furry zonai in a past life, but he’s noticeably less humanoid than Rauru or Mineru. Link has a tail, digitigrade legs, and even dew claws. Meanwhile, Rauru and Sonia have no tails and are plantigrade. This makes me wonder if zonai started intermarrying with mortals long before Rauru met Sonia, which could account for the more human-like traits.
- Link being a zonai at one point finally makes it 100% canon that Link does not need to be reborn as a hylian. It is entirely possible that he could have been a gerudo at some point, or may even be one in a future game.

Danny's human half dying as collateral during a fight. That human half goes into reincarnation and is reborn as Damian Wayne. He isn't born with all of his memories but he definitely feels that something is wrong. they would get their Memories Back at about 8 and have a horrible time dealing with being an assassin. Danny would try to stick to the personality they already had before but there's definitely slip-ups of them being like yeah this is wrong and Talia thinks they take after their father because of it.
The first thing Danny does when they're not being monitored by their mom or the bat family is to look for Phantom. Phantom to have run away to the ghost Zone and has built a reputation as a merciless ruler. He's a good ruler and he's not a tyrant but he doesn't have the reputation of kindness. Damien as the moral compass of the duo is really funny to me.
There's a situation later that involves ghosts which is where Danny/Damian and Phantom meet again. I want there to be a very big misunderstanding that heroes think Phantom is obsessed with Damien but in reality they are literally other halves of a soul. Phantom keeps doing and saying things that no one else would get away with around Damien. Phantom would be saying things like making fun of his height or giving him nicknames but as far as anyone else sees Damian doesn't even flinch.
Danny/Damian and Phantom have lived Separate Lives for a while so they don't automatically fuse into one person. I think they would fuse for a few hours just to feel themselves be one Soul again but they have Separate Lives so they can't stay that way. The bat family is very concerned with Damien continuing to talk to the obsessive ghost that keeps possessing his body.
