FINAL FANTASY IV BEST FINAL FANTASY!!!!!!

Tbh I don't even remember why I bought IV on the GBA over V (I LOOOOVE EXDEATH) but I made it to the part where you meet Sage Tellah in the cave and stopped in that safe room right before the boss fight in the cave. The plot has me really interested in where it's gonna go though; having the protagonist slaughter like two entire villages back to back right at the start of the game is a WILD hook lol

I also appreciate getting to play an adult that's fully aware of what's going on in a FF game for once haha Though, I've beat 7 and 8, most of 10, and played only a bit of 9, 10-2, 5, and 15 so I know 4 isn't the only FF that doesn't have a young/naive protag.

It's so unique/pretty #7 is iconic of course. I would’ve done a compare and contrast chart instead of listing out all the parallels but last time I did it the resolution was even worse then these 💀 besides just pointing out the similarities is funnier since I’d say overall their vastly different characters- but these baseline similarities I can’t help to notice even if I doubt it was a reference on ZXs part to Armageddon. ive been revisiting a childhood hobby of mine which is. check out a bunch of library books on topics im interested in and reading them! No pressure on myself to retain anything, no need to agressively study passages for papers. No time frames (i can recheck a book out if I want!), and no pressure to keep reading something if I find it dull or too dryly written. Its nice to fall back in love with natural curiosity.

Random thoughts: Can't wait until I move again next year back to the valley. Super excited for all our local festivals and celebrations!! Sadly they dont happen where I am now, no one even has heard of them.

Big L to these folks they don't know the freedom of trading skills and the fresh sea and local wildlife. Or celebrating just to celebrate. Where are the get togethers? Where are the potlucks? The community? The rules of politeness and friendliness are different here and it's strange how friendly from the valley is seen as overextending yourself here.

Also I can't wait to see the mechanical riding bull at the various ocean creature festivals we do! Also no one does any cèilidh here? It is strange and interesting and folks around this city (very far fromthe valley) are different? But I am acclimating, although I still am looking forward to going back too

But thinking about this, and why it’s so hard for me, made me think about how strong his paladin theming can be

Leadership qualities, wants joy to flourish in the world but he's also kind of a hardass. He learns about history from an outside perspective - everyone he knows has an extensive back catalogue of suffering from before he was even a thought in the mind of god. He would want to protect them. If there’s ever a way to prevent evil shit from taking place he’s enlisting the first day. And he'd be so excited to do that. Finally there's a very good reason for him to exist - finally he can contribute something good to the world)

And then im likeee…. paladins fall though. Thats, like, one of the most iconic things about them as a class. Which makes me think about that one RP story wherein a paladin player explained in exacting detail why they don't fear the fall, they seek it out (ironically that character's name was also Peter, so, ??? neat!)

But even THAT'S not right for this question. That's not embracing evil - thats being willing to give up everything you have to prevent this specific evil right now. That's STILL not it.

And besides - how would Peter ever end up in a situation like this anyway? He's bitty. When is he ever the one with the most authority or power in any situation, to even be doing something like this? To even have the opportunity to embrace a slippery slope into cruelty by following a road of what he swears were good intentions?
