I feel like he’s the type of guy to gift you experiences rather than physical items. He’d take you to a fancy cafe you’d been eyeing, maybe a movie you wanted to watch, possibly even plan a surprise picnic!!

He dresses up for the occasion too! Even if you don’t expect it, he’s out of his usual jacket and attire- sporting something he seemingly newly bought. Ichiro will absolutely light up in smiles if you compliment his outfit and effort.

Ichiro feels like his time with you is more valuable than any gift he could give. He has so many other responsibilities on his shoulders so he uses his “gifts” to make up for any time lost.

Jiro

Jiro worries himself over trying to come up with a gift to get you. He doesn’t have much money, with most of his salary going towards helping his siblings. When the time comes to give you a gift, he’s embarrassed- bumbling over himself with apologies for the supposed shittiness of his gift.

But oh, oh, oh he’s so sweet :C. He’ll hand make a card for you, educating himself on paper craft so it’s the cutest it can be. There’s paper cuts that litter his hands as he gives it to you.

Jiro immediately leaves the room, not wanting to see your face as you read the letter, in which he pours his heart out for you to fully see. Run after him and kiss his face will you?

Samatoki

Samatoki gives you a leather wallet... that he made himself!!

One of the old men who he buys meatbuns from told him about a class that would 'fit his vibe.' And when he begrudgingly took the class, the old man was totally right! Samatoki gets really into the task, hiding the new hobby from you because he wants to surprise you with a gift at the end of the class.

When he hands you the wallet, you can tell it wasn't professionally made. There's stray burn marks on the front, mildly messy seams holding it together, and a tag inside that is signed with his initials and yours inside of a heart. Samatoki is so, so proud of showing you his accomplishment though- and hopes you enjoy it as much as he enjoyed making it.

Jyuto

Jyuto gets you a personalized music box.

It's of your favorite song. One you would always play for him whenever you were given aux in the car- that he would always playfully say was becoming annoying to hear. One he only seemed to tolerate instead of actually enjoy listening to it.

But he knows the joy it brings you to listen to. He sees the smile on your face when you turn the volume louder, the shine in your eyes when it surprisingly comes on the radio. It's why, despite his mild dislike of it, he buys you a music box so you could play it whenever you want. Just so he can see your smile whenever he can.

Rio

Rio is a man of practicality. So he gets you a self care box!

He kind of throws everything into it, multiple body washes and bath bombs, a variety of different scents- he has more experience in self preservation instead of self care. But just from the amount of... stuff inside- it's clear he thought a lot about it!

When he gives the box to you he has a little trouble explaining what it's for. It's a rare sight to see, Rio stumbling flustered over his words trying to explain he wanted to make sure you were taking care of yourself in ways outside his understanding. If you offer to show him how to use all the stuff he got you, he'll gladly accept!

Ramuda

Ramuda gives you an outfit he specifically designed! In his mind, there's nothing more meaningful than something made from hand.

He’s poured over it for weeks, wanting it to be absolutely perfect for his perfect partner. Ramuda knows your tastes to the smallest detail, so he knew just what to do to make sure you'd like it. And its comfortable too!! Made with the softest fabric he could buy, so despite whatever flashiness it has it's super comfy to wear.

When actually giving it to you, he makes you model it right in front of him! He's kicking his feet and squealing as you twirl around in whatever he gives you, excited to see you in something he created.

Gentaro

mfeafeiafjewamawe Gentaro gifts you a notebook.

It's unsuspecting first, with a plain, brown, leather bound cover. He's unusually casual about it too, handing it to you under his sleeve with a meek smile. Usually, Gentaro would make a show about whatever gift he gives you, jokingly saying you should bow to his feet in praise for his effort.

However, once you open up the notebook, you'd find it's filled with words of love. Poems, short stories, letters, all of it written by Gen to you. It's so, sickenly sweet and romantic you'd never expect it from him. When you look back at him after peeking through, he's red in the face, flustered to hear whatever feedback you may have.

Dice

Dice gives you a special lucky charm!!

He spent months hunting it down. Seeking through pawn shops and all the shady back alley sellers he knows. When Dice gets a good idea in his mind, he sticks to it thoroughly, the only thing on his mind being the joyous reaction he expects you to have.

And what does he give you? The matching piece to his earring of course! If you don't wear earrings, he'll have it converted to a keychain so you can carry it on your bag. Dice thinks it's the perfect good luck charm, both for him and for you :3

Matenro

Jakurai

fewafewafewfeaw Jakurai gets you one of those mini books that's like "30 things I love about you."

You know, the ones that have a different prompt for each page that you have to fill in. Despite the small space, he gets really detailed, and it's so sweet and romantic and yuck !!! They're all wildly different responses, ranging from how he thinks you always look wonderful to how he thinks you truly saved his life just by being in it.

When Jakurai hands the book to you he's shy about it, apologizing about the responses because he wasn't able to fit all he wanted to say. Of course, he'll gladly say it in person if you're insistent 😚😚😚

Hifumi

Hifumi comes to your door with a bouquet of flowers. He's all smiles as he stuffs petals and stems in your face.

Ooh, he was insistent on picking out the flowers himself. Hifumi has a company discount with the local flower shop his club works with- so he was all in on getting as many different flowers as he could find (as in, all the flowers he found pretty[as in, all of them]).

He also put together the bouquet himself!! It's a little messy, with some broken stems and falling petals. However, he's just so happy to give it to you that you can't help but find it adorable.

Doppo

Doppo gets matching keychains for you guys!

He likes being subtle about a lot of things, including his affections. The keychains he gets are the type that look regular on their own, but together they can link to form a heart or your initials or something romantic like that.

Doppo will often link your keychains together in public, smiling to himself as he sees the connection. Whenever he gets anxious in public and he's alone, he'll hold onto the keychain tightly, being reminded of you. Yes, while it was a gift to you it also was a gift to himself, to have a reminder of you with him always :CC

Bad Ass Temple

Kuko

Kuko is so shit at giving gifts I'm so sorry. He has to ask his friends what gifts to get you and they're all so sick of it LMAO. Ichiro tells him to take you out somewhere, and that eventually gives him the perfect idea for a gift.

Kuko says his gift to you is a day of him being on his best behavior. He says it with a smug smile, expecting you to tell him how good of a present it is and is shocked to see your confusion.

He gets legitimately upset when you tell him that his best behavior shouldn't be a gift. The day ends with him promising you that he'll get you an even better gift next time, which leads him back to the drawing board as this dude is just so, so shit at giving gifts.

Jyushi

Jyushi writes a song for you!

He's not the lyricist for his band but he has a heavenly voice to back up whatever he writes. But he puts EVERYTHING into writing the song for you. Jyushi throws in references to your relationship, to specific dates or moments in time, to things only the two of you would know. He sees it as his magnum opus, and is very very proud of being able to perform it to you.

If his band doesn't want to perform the song with him he makes Kuko and Hitoya help him. Sure, it may have taken a few tear filled begs, but with their help he's able to perform the song he spent so much time working on, just for you

Hitoya

Hitoya makes you a playlist!

He's a bit of a classic guy, and would've made you a mixtape if anyone still used those on the daily lol. There's a lot of different memories within your relationship related to different songs, and he wanted to compile all of them for you two to listen together. Hitoya makes the picture of the playlist a photo of you two on your first anniversary, one where you're holding hands by the sunset and smiling.

It's sweet, cause he plays it first without telling you what it is. With every song that passes you recognize where it's from, and he's left smiling like a kid when you beam with joy asking him if he really made a playlist for you.

Sasara

Sasara gets you a build-a-bear bear!!

He goes in store alone to buy it, and goes a little overboard in designing it. Sasara gets a bunch of overpriced accessories, stuffs it a little too much with stuffing, and picks one of the most expensive dolls because it was the cutest.

Sasara records his own voice messages so they could play whenever you squeeze the doll's hand. And oh my goodness, he recorded so many. There's multiple shitty jokes, several wild compliments, and a myriad of 'I love yous' said in various different tones. Just don't hug it too much, he might get jealous ehehe.

Rosho

Rosho gets you whatever you want.

He gets really concerned when trying to get you gifts, worrying over what you would like best, if you already have it, or if you'd think it's too much/too little. So, eventually he'll just go ahead and ask you what you want as a present.

As long as it's in reason, of course. If you say some ludicrous thing like a yacht or a new car, Rosho will get sad and say you know he can't afford such luxurious (why would you do that to him LMAO). But he'll take you to the shops and have you pick out anything you want, buying it with no question as he just wants you to know he loves you so so so much :CC

The rare sight of a ponytail, even though a tiny one. A shirt with the lack of sleeves and a green tie, having a fitting jacket (which however had decided to slide down enough to not cover the shoulders) as well as a pair of jeans. Not to mention two hair clips at the right side of the hair.

It was a start, at least a different sight from the usual. Anything else and Ann would have probably collapsed on the spot so Ramuda had to ease them into a style change. But they looked way cuter than they would in their usual clothes! Maybe it had been their tiny ponytail hanging down and the hair clip. Or perhaps it was both with the mixture of a blush and trying to avert his gaze, an attempt to not come off as too flustered, too embarrassed… Except that was the only thing they were looking like and honestly, it was a little amusing.

Ramuda himself couldn't help but hum at the sight, unable to hide his smile even. He could just barely hold himself from letting out a teasing quip or running over and just hug them right then and there. After all, he had to make sure that everything was fitting, from head to toe – Not being too tight but not too wide either, just fine and comfortable to wear. Work first, fun later!

“So so, how are you feeling Ann–Chan? “ He asked, though he could already think of the answer, judging from their face.

“How am I… Feeling?” They repeated, trying so hard not to stutter and somewhat shiver. And yet… “Uh… Can I just change back?”

“No way! I told you before, didn't I?” The fashion designer interrupted them abruptly, not wanting to even hear them finish that. It was going to be the same as usual. He had heard it plenty of times to know where this was going. “Ann–Chan is cute! And anyone saying otherwise is just a blind dummy!”

And he got them to flinch on the spot yet again, their body having visibly gone a little stiff. All from a compli— No! Not a compliment! He was stating the truth here, the absolute truth! And there was nothing they could do about it! And he was not going to give in for even a second!

“Repea— You wouldn’t dare! Ri—”

Oh he would. Of course he would. So he interrupted them, not even allowing them to finish, saying one sentence over and over. “Ann–Chan is cute!” And he was not stopping for breath either. Though it did get exhausting fast yet he didn’t care. He had to get a point across here and they will have to listen. So he has to literally hammer it into their brain, even if verbally!

One quick glance up right at their face and one could see their expression only becoming more and more shocked, their face redder than any strawberry Ramuda had ever seen on any shortcake. In fact, a strawberry may as well look pale in comparison. They were that flustered from this, weren’t they? That was very adorable. It only made him want to keep pushing their buttons one way or another, not stopping. So he just kept on repeating it. Over and over and—

“Ah yeesh! I get it!” Ann interrupted out of nowhere, steam may as well be rising from their head now. They looked as if they were burning after all. “Please, have mercy!”

It only left him to grin for a moment, feeling rather powerful in this situation. “So you won’t deny it anymore?”

“I… I…”

“If you keep going then—”

“Ok fine! I give, I give! I won’t deny it anymore!” They said though only time will tell if they will keep that promise.

“Alright, I’ll stop then… For now that is~” Ramuda said ever so playfully before stepping closer, finally. “Ok, time to stay still! I have to make adjustments where it’s needed! And then I also need to take some pictures!”

“P… Pictures?”

“Yeah, pictures.”

“Is this a model photoshoot all of a sudden?” They asked, almost deadpan sounding.

“Hmm… I mean if you want to try yourself as one of my models—”

“No no no! I will never! That’s too embarrassing…”

He looked at her, almost like a sad puppy, as if at the brink of tears. “Eh!? But You’d make a great model! Plea—”

“No! That’s one thing you can never make me do! Ever!” They said, awfully defensive. Ah, they fall for the silliest of jokes, don’t they?

“I’m kidding, I know that. You’d probably hate being a model anyway.” Ramuda said, chuckling. “Besides, I want Ann–Chan as my private model if anything.” He added as he finally started to observe the outfit from close up, even tugging onto the clothing sometimes to check if it felt… Well, right. And also if there were any mistakes of any kind. So he couldn’t look at their face for the time being and only heard their voice.

“Private? What… Are you implying?”

“Nothing nothing. Except that this isn’t the last outfit for you.”

“Ah— I have to do this again!?”

“Yeah. This is the first of many.”

“Please tell me you’re joking…”

“No, I’m not. There’ll be plenty more clothes for you to try.” The thought may have gotten him a little excited even. Maybe he was being a little selfish with this but… “So prepare yourself~”

“Sh… Shouldn’t you focus on making outfits for your work instead?”

“Oh, I am. Don’t worry. I like doing it. I can make outfits for you here and there.”

“Sounds like a waste…”

“Too bad, I’m doing it anyway! And you can’t escape!”

“I… Guess I can’t… Hah… You’re impossible sometimes.”

“Thanks. I’ll take it as a compliment~”

I put the hypmic members in a randomizer and switched their occupations a while ago but never got around to drawing it out. Here’s my take on how they’d fare (their ages change depending on who they switched with)

yorozuya doppo: ends up biting off more than he can chew and is exhausted everyday

highschool student rosho: uhm..a bit rowdy but does his work and becomes valedictorian

middle school student rio: a lil odd but well-liked among classmates..very good boi

yakuza jiro: intimidating as f but his face still lights up when he gets a call from nii-chan uwu

officer gentaro: I could not think of anything that wasn’t boring

soldier hifumi: idk much about the military but he doesn’t make it past boot camp

fashion designer jyushi: marketed towards goth/emo teens!!! popular af!!! often gets commissioned by bands with that style!!!!

writer ramuda: "truly a genius of our time..the way he masks the underlying horror of his pieces in a deceptively sweet mask is always chillingly satisfying..."

gambler samatoki: makes bank and eventually just ends up running the casinos lmao

vocalist dice: uhm instead of visual kei he would do something closer to the style he usually raps in. a lot of penis party music. struggling to get popular

lawyer ichiro: like matt murdock. only taking cases for those who are really innocent, unlike hitoya who would take the big money cases (and the ones he thought really needed it like kuko and jyushi) and therefore not being R I C H but feeling fulfilled

Samatoki Aohitsugi is so Underrated

Tw // canon-typical mentions of abuse & suicide based on Samatoki’s backstory.

Tonight before the bed I’m thinking about Samatoki Aohitsugi. I want more flashbacks on Samatoki’s backstory. “Mom killed dad and suicided” he says in a breath in his songs as if that’s easy. “Abusive alcoholic father figure” he says.

No, no, please get deeper.

I want to know more of you. Your family. Your household. How was your family house like? Do you still live in the same place the incident happened? Did you change apartments after Nemu left? Do you cook for yourself even when your sister is not around (in the present timeline, after you sort of processed the initial shock)? Do you shower in the morning or before the bed (or both)? What’s your favorite brand of drinks and cigarettes? How did you cope with such a huge trauma? How could you process loss of your mother, your father and then somehow your sister and then Sasara and then Ichiro— I don’t even mean SasaSama or SamaIchi in a specific ship way for this context. It can be romantic or platonic but what matters is that they were once Samatoki’s best friends and partners and he trusted them with his heart and invited them to his house and cooked for them and he even was starting to gradually prepare himself for Ichiro and Nemu potentially getting together. He trusted Ichiro that much and then, although neither Sasara, Nemu or Ichiro “betrayed” him, Samatoki was betrayed in his own perspective and there was no way of him finding out that they were hypnotsized.

In the end, Samatoki lost his mother, his father (we know that he despises his father and his father was abusive but in the end it was a person he lived with and it must have some sort of impact on him too), his sister, and two of his best friends. It sounds like a nightmare. Samatoki is a family-person and so am I. My family and best friends and partner are my priorities in life (along with myself and my career, but that’s irrelevant). Samatoki lost all of them in such a short time interval.

Honestly…

How on the earth is Samatoki still functioning?

How could he ever trust Jyuto and Rio? How could he ever eat food offered by a random dude living in woods and even after he knew what the food was made of, he always accepted the offer because he doesn’t want to make Rio sad?? That he is just nice and considerate about a grown ass man’s feelings like that??? He still has the feelings of responsibility and respect to face Jyuto and apologize for losing DRB???

Not only that but he still more or less tries his best to process the fact that Ramuda was somewhat responsible for half of his losses and he still tries to forgive Ramuda?? He tries, at least puts effort, to “forget about it because I’d do same to protect my sister” thing with Ichiro???? And he acknowledges that even after the hypnosis effect is gone, Nemu wants to stay in Chuuoku even at the cost of her fighting against Samatoki for that and HE FUCKING ACCEPTS HER DECISION AND RESPECTS HER AND CHERISHES HER???????

This guy lost his mother, his father, his sister HIS BEST FRIENDS T W I C E, his life got played over by his abusive father AND THEN FUCKING GOVERNMENT ITSELF, and he became a yakuza to deal with all that BUT HE STILL PROTECTS THE BULLIED IN YOKOHAMA, LOVES THE DUMPLINGS OF A WHOLESOME GRANDMOTHER, EATS RIO’S QUESTIONABLE FOOD JUST TO MAKE HIM HAPPY AND OVERALL DOES HIS BEST TO DEAL WITH HIS ANGER ISSUES AND TRIES TO FORGIVE PEOPLE FOR WHAT THEY DID??? EVEN THOUGH HE HAS SO MUCH TRAUMA??? SO MUCH ANGER ISSUES???? HE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO BE VERY BITTER BUT HE DOES HIS BEST NOT TO BECOME SOMEONE LIKE THAT???? AND WHEN HE SLIPS UP HE APOLOGIZES???
