2. best moment of the year? watching my best friend's child do his very first unsupported steps right in my living room when they were visiting me

8. best book/book series of the year? I didn't read all that much at all, and mostly nonfiction or re-reads, but I got to read the second Cemetaries of Amalo book, I'd call that my number 1 book of the year! I just love the world and worldbuilding and how it feels like a 3d world where people actually live. Also I love the main character - he is a priest of the god of death and dreams who can see the echoes of a deceased person's last impressions or most important thoughts before their death. His position is called "Witness for the Dead" and he is often called to act as a, well, witness and messenger for recently deceased people's last wishes. Or to solve murder mysteries.

Another highlight was definitely Mass Effect: Annihilation. I love the Elcor and the Quarians so much, and to read a book with members of their species among the main characters was great, plus I loved the characters themselves.

17. what are some hobbies that you developed? Finally started training for mountain rescue, which I've been waiting to be able to do for quite a while.

20. how did this year treat you in general? It didn't allow me enough breaks and the first 6 months were rough, but it was pretty good all in all. It was a successful year, I managed to finish some things that kept weighing on my shoulders.

3. Siblings 🦔 I have a younger brother

8. Hobbies 🐌 I talked about my current hobbies in this ask. Here's a number of things I used to do in the past:

have classes for my main instruments (recorder & cello)

play in an orchestra

school first-aider

tennis, then changed to table tennis

ride horses

learned how to sail (once, shortly)

altar server in church

Filipino Martial Arts

Aikido

etc.

And things I want to do in the future:

join the mountain search and rescue team

more sailing

continue the things I'm already doing, or rather keep their essence (social connection, being in nature, expressing myself creatively, moving my body, creating a home) even if the details change

12. Best vacation 🌞 Hard to say! 3 come to mind:

hiking trip in Scotland

going from Vienna to Budapest by bike

solo hiking trip across the Black Forest in Germany

So it's fair to say that my favourite vacations are those where I travel from one place to another using only my own endurance/strength.

34. Who would you call if you were in serious trouble? 📞 Depends on the trouble. I don't know what serious trouble I would get into. But if it's something for which there isn't an established channel to go through, then I have a number of close friends I would try to reach, and I'm lucky to be able to say that my parents are (back) on that list too, after roughly a decade of a rocky relationship.

36. Biggest turn-on (romantically) 🤎 ??? :D I always used to say that I'm as romantic as a brick. Much later I found the aromantic label and community, and things began to make sense.

My only attempt at a romantic relationship was at age 15, when my best friend's friend was obviously interested in me, and I liked being admired and thought the excitement I felt was what being in love felt like. It lasted all of 3 weeks (during which we met up perhaps ~3-4 times due to impractical train schedules) before I ended it because it felt uncomfortable and gross.

I wouldn't mind being in a romantic relationship now that I know myself better, but it would have to be initiated by the other person and while it would mean similar things for my hypothetical partner and I - this being what would make it a relationship: the agreement about what it meant and what we want - it would probably feel differently.

That means the biggest turn-on, romantically, would be if someone is not bound by amatonormativity, if someone understands that I would still 'mean it' when I entered a relationship with them, even though I probably wouldn't get all lovey-dovey.

@caffeespresso I don't want to spoil anything but I thought it was a near perfect way to close the franchise. I think you can really feel James Gunn's care for these characters as you watch them. It's a big cast but they all get their chances to shine and I thought the wrap up was fitting for every single one.

Also you might cry a bit
