I have a fear b/c SPN, but also... the pilot was so good??

It made me think of early seasons of SPN. The characters were fun, the story was well paced, the framing device is *fascinating*.

I really want to see what they are going to do with this.

I have so many thoughts already.

i did not watch this season because it was post-the Very Bad Thing involving quentin coldwater, but they in fact DID NOTHING with the candy (kitchen) witch. NOTHING HAPPENED. she had quentin's blood. no nothing. the end. fuck you. *bitterness intensifies* maybe that was their little joke. i've let go a lot of my feelings about sera and how she was involved with the magicians fuck up, it sure seems like a lot of it is on the other showrunner john mcnamara (and honestly realizing how young she was when she started writing on spn had something to do with it, hell she's younger than i am), but she was involved and things like this get my back up all over again. deep breaths.

okay karin konoval has also been in 3 episodes of the xfiles - two iconic ones and one.. i don't remember at all.

why are we getting to know this family and their issues. emotional music swelling, what are we doing on a farm, talking about zucchini.

this, i think, was a much better spooky implementation of climbing inside the walls vs that episode with jo.

now this feels like an actual homage that landed for the x-files home episode. nice little circle getting one of the actors from it too.

doesn't dean already carry enough guilt, did they really need to put 10 years of enjoying torturing souls on top of it. edgelord shit.

sometimes media crosses this line with me where i feel like it's emotional manipulation and i get pissy. like if a show is engineered to make you cry a minimum once an episode (looking at you this is us), it really puts me off and i'll lose interest. in this case, i'm heavily invested in the characters, but the angst despair anxiety etc.. at some point, i get mad about it. walking a fine line right now.

1. How many works do you have on ao3? 27!! Which still feels fake after having less than ten until like may of this year. 17 are Justified.

2. What’s your total ao3 word count? 24,181.

3. What fandoms do you write for? I mostly only ever write for one fandom at a time so rn its just Justified. But in the past I've written for Supernatural, Julie and the Phantoms, 9-1-1, Stranger Things, Ted Lasso and The Walking Dead. And a number of ones that have never gotten past wip lmao

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? family we find, I Can't Steal You (Like You Stole Me), i could be found, I could be what you had saved, A Fan Knows, blueboys and teddy bears. The popularity of family we find is baffling to me. Also willow did top five justified too so: such a sight to see and it's all for me, feels like i am floating, leaves my body glowing, body's aching for every single drop of your love, might drive this car real fast until we die, sent you a bag of candy dicks. Those first two both having titles from katy perry songs is hilarious.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yeah! Idk I guess I just like showing i appreciate people commenting

6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Definitely will it tear the skin right off our bones?! I'm generally a happy or at least bittersweet/hopeful ending person but that one is angst all the way down lmao

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Fuck uhhhh I'm not really sure most of them have happy endings bc im allergic to sad endings most of the time

8. Do you get hate on fics? Only one time and i still think about it bc it was so insane and chronically online look at this its so funny

Three ships:

Dreamling - I’ve written more than one million words of both Malec and Sabriel, the other two pairings on this list, and there is no doubt in my mind that I’m going to soar past that number for Dreamling as well - it’s merely a matter of time.  I never know quite what’s going to grab me about a pairing sometimes (why did this grab me and not Aziraphale/Crowley, for example?), but when Dreamling grabbed me, it has gloriously refused to let go.  I love the characters, the world, and I love that it’s challenged me to write in different ways than I have in the past.  I love the sass, the sarcasm, the angst potential, and agony they can put each other through.  They’re a pairing based around stories - Dream as the prince of them, and Hob as the embodiment of them.  How can you not love them?

Malec - This is the ship that, after I fell out of Sabriel and into a period of not writing for more than a year - made me remember that I still knew how to write.  I hadn’t forgotten, a broken heart hadn’t stolen it from me.  I fell in love, and I decided for the first time that I was going to be good at action scenes (something I’d considered myself bad at for ages in the SPN fandom) - and it’s still one of my best accomplishments that now I feel I write them very well!

Sabriel - This is the ship that really taught me to WRITE in a way that no other ship had before.  I remember falling into SPN from the Sherlock fandom and then falling into the niche corner that was Sabriel.  It was like I had finally put on shoes that fit for the first time in my life.  It was also the first ship that ever made me consider being a writer full time - because I learned how much I loved writing, and could feel and see myself getting better over time.

First ever ship: Heero/Duo from Gundam Wing.  Coincidentally, they were also the first ever pairing that I wrote waaaaay back in April, 2004.  (Yes that fic exists on the internet still.  Yes, it’s older than a lot of you.  Yes, it’s also old enough to vote.  I have Feelings about this.  I should put it on Ao3 someday for sake of sheer posterity, but I don’t know if I ever will.)

Last song: Just Communication from Gundamn Wing.  (Which is entirely @moorishflower‘s fault.  The Nostalgia.)

Last movie: Pacific Rim (Which is definitely not related to the AU that is currently 10k and refuses to end because Dream and Hob are ridiculous.)

Currently reading: The Annotated Sandman - Volume One (I got this for Christmas, as well as a complete edition of the comics.  When I saw the Annotated was available at the bookstore I scrambled like a madwoman to get a copy and have been devouring it.)

Currently consuming: Strawberry Yogurt.  Because yum.  Also because I could not be arsed to snack on anything reasonable like candy this evening. 

Currently craving: Aged cheddar - because I ate through all the fancy aged cheddar I got for Christmas.  It was so good, so worth it, but I want so much more of it, please.

HELLO!

Welp....

I know I've been away for a long time. I had a request from a nice woman during my Christmas fic event that I promised to her in February. As it turns out, writing stories for 25 days straight REALLY burns you out. I apologize and I will be working on this request soon! But I'm coming back! With new ideas. I will still take requests. Just know that it will take a while (especially because I'm in the middle of moving and a shit ton of legal shit.) Long story. That I will tell you all about eventually when everything settles.

I'm also gonna dedicate this month to writing as many Sam Winchester stories as possible (not burning myself out this time) and this event will be called Hot Sam Summer. I'll be writing requests for all characters if I get any but I will mostly post Sam drabbles, imagines, headcanons, etc.

Send in requests for any spn character and I'll complete them as soon as I can! Please be understanding and patient as I'm sure my writing skills are a bit rusty. Asks are open too! I'd like to talk to yall!

“Dude, this is definitely the place,” Dean laughed, looking up at the large building wrapped around the corner of the street.

Sam looked up from his phone at the number of the side of the building.

“Yup, second floor. There should be a sign.”

Together, they took the stairs up and poked around the hallway.

“It looks like a private eyes office.” Dean had the giddiest smile on his face.  Sam had to admit it was nice. “Found it.”

 Dean stopped in front of a door with translucent glass and a gold sign that read Armed Detective Agency.

He reached out to knock when the door opened, and a man almost bumped into them.

“Ah, sorry,” the man said, stepping to the side so they could enter the office.

It wasn’t pretty big, with two small blocks of desks facing each other with an aisle down the middle and a few rooms off to the right. On the left by the door was a small cubicle, probably for client meetings.

At the head of the room, across from the door, was a small desk with a young man lounging. He was wearing an outfit that almost reminded Sam of Sherlock Holmes, and was munching on something.

“Took you long enough,” he huffed, not bothering to look at the brothers. The few others in the room did however look up.

“Uh h-hi?” Sam said, although it came out almost like a question. He’d tried his best to learn basic communication in the few days before their trip, and he didn’t have high expectations. “My… name is Sam Winchester,” he stopped for a second, and racked his brain for his next words. 

“M-My name is Dean Winchester,” Dean cut in, trying his best to copy his brother’s pronunciation.

The office returned to silence as the detectives looked between each other, and they started to worry they hadn’t actually introduced themselves.

“You suck,” the man in the Sherlock Holmes getup called, cupping his hands around his mouth.

“Ranpo!” A young woman, with a gold butterfly pin in her hair, snapped.

In turn “Ranpo” stuck his tongue out at her, before dumping the crumbs from his candy bag into his mouth.

A man with glasses stood up, and walked over to them extending his hand.

“Kunikida Doppo,” he said, and the brothers both shook his hand. “Sorry about him. That’s Yosano-sensei,” he pointed to the young woman who waved, “we’ve been expecting you.”

“Really?”

“Uhuh,” Yosano nodded, “Sakaguchi-san told us they were sending help for our case.”

“Here,” Kunikida motioned to a set of couches, “have a seat.”

“Sensei! What did they say, are they going to look for coach?” Sawamura yelled the minute Kazuyoshi returned to the hotel.

They’d canceled their away game for obvious reasons, and Kazuyoshi had called the school the night before. 

After Kataoka hadn’t picked up, they’d gone to the police. The officer they’d spoken too had said there was nothing much they could do, but instead directed them to a detective agency that specializes in strange cases.

After all, someone disappearing in the span of ten minutes with no witness or trace was pretty strange.

“Yes.” He watched the boys let out a deep breath and start to relax, they were really worried for their coach. “Apparently there have been a few similar cases. But they don’t know how long it will take, which brings up the current most important point. We’re going back to Seidou today.”

“What?” Kuramochi asked. “But we can’t just leave coach!”

Kazuyoshi sighed, and went to answer, before he was cut off by Tetsu.

“Why are you arguing, there isn’t anything we can do,” he said. But everyone could tell even he wasn’t so sure. “I’m sure this agency will do everything it can, all we can do is trust them.”

“Exactly. Now go get your things, we’ll grab lunch and then catch the train.”

“Seeeee, and you said it would be too hard to grab him.”

“You got lucky.”

“We gonna turn him, or eat him?”

“We wait for the boss, dumbass. Although he could be useful in dealing with those detectives, they’ve been awfully snoopy lately.”

ok so here's why throwing Fae Lore into spn makes a revival/continuation possible

Here's the setup:

-"Blurrywife" is a Faerie, specifically a malevolent/vampiric one, definitely a Succubus type. The mimes are her human thralls, hence why they don't act like normal vampires.

-Baby, yes the car, is ALSO a Faerie, specifically a kind of shapeshifter called a Pooka. John captured her in the early 80s, and, being John Winchester, never told his kids about this.

-Chuck Won. duh???

-Jack is, and was always destined to be, the next Jack O' The Lantern, and after Chuck threw his flaming corpse out Heaven, he's been ruling his own spoopy little candy-coated afterlife. pumpkin boi

Here's the timeline:

-Blurrywife & Mime Crew are kidnapping kids, likely for The Fae's 7-year tithe of souls to Hell (a thing that exists in the lore), when the Winchesters show up. Sam & Dean, as usual, have NO idea how to identify or fight Fae, and get their asses handed to them, with Dean falling to some weird Gaelic cold-iron magic fuckery (points to Blurrywife & crew for figuring out how to fight with iron despite being unable to touch it. 10/10 fuck these guys tho fr)

-Sam, alone and grieving, is an easy target and she picks him off before he even gets to the car, taking (something close to) Eileen's form and trapping him in a dreamscape, similar to how Djinn attack in spn.

-Sam, Dean AND Baby (there's def some Fae Drama going on there, yikes) have been stuck the Fae Realms for THREE YEARS as of Nov 2023.

-Dean and Baby escaped at some point, staying with Jack for a bit before running off to the 1970s like a dumbass and getting EVERYONE, including Jack and Bobby (why is Bobby even here??? HOW DID BOBBY'S GHOST GET STUCK IN THE FAE REALMS WHAT DID HE *DO*) recaptured.

-Sam has had it much worse, being drained to a white-haired husk of his former self and left for dead within a few days/months. DJ is half-faerie, raised in the fae realms, and could be 3 years old or 50, who knows. I don't like thinking abt how he happened.

-Here's the setup for the continuation:

Dean (fairly intact besides the cursed stab wound in his back) escapes with Sam (nearly dead, white-haired, displaying more or less the typical signs of someone who was taken & drained of life by The Fae) and stumbles into Charlie's safehouse. the Fae Arc can continue from this point, w Baby's true nature being revealed, Blurrywife as a major antagonist/BBEG, DJ going from possible threat -> clearly a well-meaning and very brave kid -> newest Winchester family member who Sam fully accepts as his son (plus s4-cas-esque moments as DJ tries to adapt to living on Earth. DJ ilysm but most cars aren't sentient and you can't bring your longbow to community college)

also Cas is still in The Empty, and Jack & Bobby are still captured, so that's some major plot points right there

Destiel is canon.

...anyway, this is all still pretty convoluted, but it allows for:

-15x20 to have been "not real" without being retconned

-DJ to exist without either setting the continuation ~30 yrs in the future (how would that work), or repeating spnwin's time-travel-kid-ex-machina (that's just not good writing I'm sry)

-spn finally doing something w The Fae (& related lore) besides one-off eps

-human!impala as main character

-explanations of weird shit in the finale (rebar, vamp-mimes, etc)

-collective fandom catharsis at Blurrywife's bitch ass

-the full horror potential of a faceless woman in a long dress standing ominously in the corner while time blurs forward around you and you age to death in five minutes

-some VERY fun metacommentary & crossover easter eggs if you use certain bits of Fae lore

Okay so I have decided to make some high school au fluff??? Basically it’s just some stuff idk and a lot of Artist!Cas which you will pry from my cold dead hands….

Anyways, let’s get to it!!!

“Can I see?” Dean asks, gesturing to the sketch pad resting on Castiel’s lap. It was a bright sunshiny afternoon with the skies purely blue without a single tuft of white and the green trees swaying in the light breeze. Spring filled the air as the smell of pollen drifted through their nostrils and yellow daisies dotting the field outside their high school. It was lunch break, and often times when the students finished early they would stroll through the gardens, admiring the large campus. It was a boarding school, towering high above them all with many turrets and towers, almost as if it was a real life Hogwarts. Everyone was dressed in uniforms, but each person had their little quirks that made theirs unique. For example, Dean’s shirt was always untucked and he almost never wore a tie. Sam, his brother, always made sure that everything was neat and tidy, and it was almost impossible to see him with a hair out of place. Castiel always had his tie loose as if the thing was choking him and was always wearing a long coat that wasn’t technically part of the uniform and wasn’t at all required. Dean just thought he was cold.

“Not yet, Dean,” Cas says, a wave of nervousness washing over him. He loved art with his whole heart. It was what he lived and breathed for, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t uncomfortable with showing people his latest drawing. The thing is with art, is in a way it looked into the very depths of your soul, revealing secrets that even you yourself didn’t know, and Cas was not prepared to show Dean those secrets after knowing him for barely a month.

But at the same time it felt longer than that. Cas has been staring at Dean for almost as long as he can remember, idly sketching portraits on scrap pieces of notebook paper, and later ripping them to shreds as if that could wipe away the way his heart stuttered when Dean glanced at him and keep him from stumbling over his words when confronting him, saying everything that wasn’t what he wanted to say.

“How long have you been drawing?” Dean says, sitting down beside him under the oak tree. Cas shifts a little so it’s almost impossible for Dean to see what’s on the sketch pad as he talks and draws.

“I’m not sure really. I guess I started showing interest in it when I was in eighth grade?”

“Oh cool.” There’s a bit of silence in which both of them listen to the swaying of branches over head, causing the light to dance across the ground and over the current piece of art Cas was working on. Dean studied him, watching his head tilt sideways as he tried adding something different to the piece in an attempt to make it better. He watched his blue eyes light up brighter than the sky above them as he finally made the right like and watched as his hands moved the pencil across the page in elegant swirling motions, creating one line after another.

Often times, Dean would not talk to Cas, but merely watch him as all his focus was drained into the piece, his black hair being ruffled by the breeze. When he drew, he was in his element, and there was nothing more beautiful than seeing Cas like that.

“Why do you always insist on staying with me, Dean?” Cas asks, not looking up. Even now Cas still acted a little shy towards Dean and didn’t talk to him much, and the first day they met Dean barely managed to get his name out of him. So why would someone like him, who probably has tons of friends begging for his attention at this very moment, want to hang out with him?

Dean shrugs. “Some people are annoying and don’t know how to keep their mouth shut. But you’re a mystery wrapped in a trench coat, Cas, and I love mysteries.” Despite himself, Cas blushes, glad for the sketch pad between them.

“Why do you not want me here?”

“No I um…” Cas tried to think of the right words to say without sounding desperate.

“I guess I’ve never had a friend before.” Dean nudges his arm.

“Well buddy, looks like today’s your lucky day,” he says with a smile, his green eyes glowing. They’re even more perfect than the leaves or the grass.

“You’d want… to be my friend?” Cas asks shyly.

“Of course! Who wouldn’t want to be your friend?” Cas started to shrink down in his trench coat, the praise overwhelming him with happiness.

“I’m weird though.”

“And that’s just why I like you.”
