It's on me for having hubris, I would have loved to color these but mma be honest, still lining whats to come. Day one of my piece for Cardverse!: Day 1: Royalty - arranged marriage | coronation | tradition A joyous day as all the courts gather to attend the coronation of the new king of clubs (Kugelmugel) The future is full of wonder and wishes. Clubs, a kingdom of it's own, mingles as little as possible with the other kingdoms, for some this is there very first time being on the very soil. Many can't help but gossip what a new king of clubs could mean for it's own kingdom and everyone else. Perhaps even, a kingdom may manage to utilize the new rule and work to lift the veil by offering one of their own.

The life of Lane Cromwell has always seemingly been made up of threes. She'd been her parents' third child, as well as the youngest of three sisters. She'd studied gold and silversmithing under her father for three years. She fell in love with her husband after three days. Her tiny, close-knit family was comprised of herself, her son Jacob, and her daughter Carewyn. It took her three times to score her dream job in Spades, working as a museum curator and historian. Even her life, it seemed, could be split up into three stages --

Past. Present. Future.

Daughter. Wife. Mother.

Diamond Empire. Country of Spades. Land of Clubs.

Three of Diamonds

The three of diamonds is the card of professionalism and career. It means that you should stay focused on your work and business. Do not let some shiny object distract you. The three of diamonds suggests that you will be well-appreciated and rewarded for your current work. It can also represent a sudden surprise.

In the Diamond Empire, Lane's life was dictated by her role as the third daughter of the Cromwell Clan Jewelers. She was the brain of her siblings, and she'd been trained to solely focus on that role she had to play, polishing gems to perfection that her father could sell and quietly obeying his will in how to live her life. But then, out of the blue one day, a opportunity for a better life appeared, in the form of a young man from the Country of Spades named Evan Bach, who showed Lane her first real glimpse of sincere, selfless love. And in the end, Lane chose that opportunity for a better, loving life with Evan over career, wealth, and her abusive family. She and Evan eloped and ran off to the Country of Spades to start a family far away from Charles Cromwell -- which, quite frankly, is the best reward all of Lane's hard work could've ever received.

Three of Spades

The three of spades is an unwelcome card, to say the least. It represents a change of plans, one that usually results in emotional pain and a broken heart. In a mild case, this card can announce a cancelled date or misunderstandings between two lovers, but at its worst, it can be an omen for a break-up or divorce.

Sadly, as much as Evan and Lane had loved each other and as grateful as Lane was for Evan helping her escape her toxic family, their relationship did not last. After years of marital strife, Evan left his family, leaving Lane to raise their two children Jacob and Carewyn on her own. Fortunately this change of plans was one Lane was able to adapt to -- she got a job and set about rebuilding her life with her "bairns." Her son Jacob scored a job with the "Counselor of Spades," himself, Duncan Ashe, and her daughter Carewyn earned a scholarship to attend school in the Kingdom of Hearts. Soon both Lane and Jacob would leave Spades to join her there...

Just as it seemed like everything was on track, however, Lane was hit with another terrible change of plans. Lane's work visa to Hearts was rescinded, and not long later Jacob sent his mother an urgent letter telling her to leave Spades without him, before Rakepick could capture her. Hating the thought of leaving her son behind but knowing her getting caught would make it that much harder for Jacob to escape himself and potentially put Carewyn at risk, Lane was forced to flee on foot, southward into the Land of Clubs.

Three of Clubs

To draw the three of clubs means you've been dealt a good hand. It's a sign that your judgment is sound and that your efforts will be reap success. The three of clubs has such a positive influence that it's a trump that counteracts all the negative cards next to it. It's an omen that you will gain fortune and fame. In some readings, it can even mean hope.

Fortunately, once Lane escaped into Clubs, she found sanctuary under the King of Clubs, Orion Amari. The King and his court were also responsible for Lane reuniting with her daughter Carewyn, who had since been crowned the new Queen of Hearts. And after the War was over, Lane and Carewyn were also miraculously reunited with Jacob, who'd been through his own fair share of tribulations and become infamous across Cinderhaven as "the Escape Artist."

After the Civil War in Spades was over, Lane decided not to move to Hearts with Carewyn or return to her old job and flat in Spades. Instead Lane lived the rest of her life quietly and peacefully in the Land of Clubs as a royal historian. Clubs' rolling fields, untamed woods, ancient libraries, and clean air were medicinal to Lane's spirit, and her resettlement allowed Lane to take some well-deserved time chasing her own happiness, instead of just keeping her family afloat financially. And as part of that happiness, her cottage in the woods beside Clubs' museum and university was always open for visits from those few precious people she loved more than anyone else in the world.

For the first time in her life, the third daughter of Charles Cromwell had found herself in a place where she could be fully herself and that truly embodied the feeling of the word "home."

The Jack of Clubs

Here is some information on Helena’s role as the Jack of Clubs in the Cardverse AU that was created by @ariparri In addition, Cato and Reilly both belong to @catohphm

Helena is an intellectual and sincere advisor to the King of Clubs. Raised in a high class family and receiving an advanced education has taught her about her own homeland and the surrounding kingdoms. She also works closely with the Ace of Clubs, one of her longest friends in certain decision making. Despite her quiet nature, she speaks with wisdom and respect for others, often trying to not let rumors define a person or place before she is able to gather her own information.

Helena’s father, Alessandro Durazzo, comes from a wealthy family in the Capital of the land of Clubs. Her father is a scholar and expert in economics, her aunt works in developing medicine, and her uncle trains various types of animals which serve as the steeds of the Club’s army. He worked with maintaining the economics balance of the clubs kingdom and also was interested in government although he never pursued it.

Meanwhile, Helena’s mother is from a city not too far away from the border the Land of the Clubs shares with the Spades. When Olivia’s younger sister, Cynthia, expressed an interest in joining the Clubs military, their parents did not want Cynthia to travel alone and decided that Olivia would go with her. Olivia tried to convince her parents to either just let Cynthia go alone or send her with someone else because she didn’t want to leave home (she was also in a relationship with a farmer named Garrett which her parents would quickly object to and forbid if they found out). However, despite her requests, Olivia still ended up traveling to the capital with her younger sister

After moving, Olivia quickly found success as a researcher and botanist who focused on identifying and growing different types of plants with medicinal properties. During her work, she also befriended many of her co workers, including a woman named Reilly. In addition, through various connections she gained, she eventually met and fell in love with a scholar who specialized in civics and economics named Alessandro Durazzo.

Helena and her older brother Jacob lived comfortable lives in the land of Clubs and received some of the best educations possible. Her parents had multiple connections with high class families and she developed a childhood friendship with the son of her mother’s friend and co worker, Cato Reese. The two sent to the same schools growing up and only separated when Cato enrolled in a military academy and Helena went to college to further her studies. Despite this, the two friends still kept in touch through writing and other methods of communication. The two would go on to collaborate and both of them had high government positions with Cato being the Ace and leader of the country’s military and Helena being the Jack and advisor to the King.

After many years, Helena eventually became the Jack and a trusted advisor to the King of Clubs, Orion. She tends to make decisions rationally, trying to not let anger sway her judgement. While she is quiet natured, she will fiercely defend any of her ideas that she believes will benefit the kingdom and ensure prosperity and happiness. Oftentimes, when faced with a tough event to provide advise on to the king, she ventures into the forest to see if she can get signs from nature. She also tries to keep calm and have a level head with meditation

However, the times inched closer to becoming truly dire when the neighboring Country of Spades fell to a coup and had a dictatorship set up by Patricia Rakepick. The threat of invasion became more real as if the Spades wanted to conquer the other kingdoms, the only way to do it, was to pass through their shared border with the Clubs. Helena entrusted Cato to make the right decision and supported his idea to strengthen their security on the border. Helena supporting Orion’s desire to help the people of the Country of Spades and also keep the people of Clubs safe, particularly those on the border. She helped make advisements for the best approaches to take with this growing conflict

Cardverse AU

Hi y'all! I've been working on this AU for almost a month now, so I really hope y'all like it as much as I do!

A basic explanation is that Cardverse is an AU based on the 4 card suits. Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, and Clubs.

There are usually 3 major roles like the cards, Kings, Queens, and Jacks. There are also Jokers but i haven't drawn them yet

I decided to split the choir all up based on their connections, and I wanted to add Tammy and Ezra too just to make them all an even 12

Details of my eternal brainrot below:

First of all, they're all organized by rank but if you see the colors, they're already assigned to one of the 4 card suits: Blue and Purple shades for Spades, Pink and Red for Hearts, Orange and Yellow for Diamonds, and every shade of green for Clubs.

•Kings are primarily in charge of both the kingdom and are the generals of their own armies

•Queens are in charge of the kingdom's navy, they check and balance for the king's decisions, and can basically rule on their own as a Queendom if the king is not found yet. Usually Queens are from aristocracy/one family line but in some special cases, they're also commoners

•Jacks are in charge of the finances and policies of the kingdom, they also check and balance the king's decisions like the queen, and also work as ambassadors for other kingdoms

•the role of the joker is kinda conflicting but some portray them as evil trickster gods set on causing chaos throughout the kingdoms, some believe they're there to keep order in the kingdoms, the common thing is that they're rarely seen and have been there since like...forever

•The Black joker can see back into the past, they watch over Spades and Clubs

•The Red joker can see into the future, they watch over hearts and diamonds

They all have marks all over their body to identify their ranks, the card suits also have traits:

Spades: Power {placement of mark}

•King - Ocean { left wrist}

•Queen - Constance { right cheek}

•Jack - Ricky {back of left hand}

Diamonds: Wealth

•King - Hank {right palm}

•Queen - Astrid {left palm}

•Jack - Trishna {neck}

Hearts: Emotion

•King - Mischa {right hip}

•Queen - Noel {back of right shoulder}

•Jack - Corey {right calf}

Clubs: Luck

•King - Penny {left upper arm}

•Queen - Tammy {left shoulder}

•Jack - Ezra {left ankle}
