aight ok so gundam has a less strong reaction towards movies (unless it’s animal related, he will then fall to his knees and start monologuing) (or he will start bawling his eyes out if it's sad). kazuichi my boy, on the other hand, is a major pussy. his reactions are always pure and utter raw emotion, if it's scary he will shit his pants, if it's sad he will be a destroyed sobbing mess, etc. etc. it's literally just souda being souda.

gundam's favorite genre is horror, cuz ooh spooky and nice film direction, while kazuichi obv likes action and comedy and what not. (i'd also like to think both of them like animated movies/shows/TV in general, since they probably grew up with it so they bond over that too) gundam's not as fond of comedy but will watch it because he likes seeing kazuichi giggle and laugh and just having fun :,,,,3

kazuichi tries to return the favor by watching horror films with gundam, but unfortunately he always gets scared shitless less than halfway through. but hey, free cuddles!!! i love them SO SO MUCH ARGHHHHHHHHHH i want to squeeze them until they pop /pos

I just saw two thirds of the Coon and Friends trilogy, and I feel like sharing my thoughts so far. I shall warn you, my thoughts may seem very haphazardly written down because I don't know how to format them.

I vastly preferred the first part to the second part, because I find myself irritated by Mysterion for reasons incompressible to me. I think it's something to do with his voice, although his incredibly dark and edgy backstory doesn't really excite me much either. I get what they were going for, but it isn't really something I enjoy.

So far, the only storylines/recurring jokes I've liked have been The Coon and Cthulhu, as well as the incredibly bizarre BP apologies. Everything else has been either mediocre or boring. Originally, I even hated seeing Cthulhu here, since HP Lovecraft is like the precursor to Stephen King, one of the many terrifying banes of my existence. Certainly doesn't help that I know he was incredibly racist, even for his time period.

Either way, I'm pleasantly surprised to find that this saga has actually been decently funny so far. I guess we'll have to see if my opinion changes after seeing the final part of the trilogy.

You’ll share a knowing look, and that’s the most you’re going to communicate about it

Honestly you both just want to forget it though, so that’s not necessarily a bad thing

Understands that you’re afraid, but does not sympathize

He’s very brash when convincing you to go

“I know you’re scared, but you know what’s more scary? The stuff that’ll happen to you if you don’t get checked out.”

As much as you try to argue, he’s not budging

Your safety is more important to him than your happiness in such moments

He’ll literally pick you up bridal style if you’re too stubborn

Once you actually get there, he’ll attempt to comfort you as much as he can

Mainly in the form of watching YouTube on his phone with you

This is one of the rare occasions he’ll let you pick what to watch without complaints

Even if you pick something he hates, he’ll let you have your way

Anything to keep you from panicking

When you leave he makes sure to reward you with a treat

Whether that’s a meal from your favorite fast food restaurant or a new plushie, he’s willing to get it for you

Partly because he doesn’t want you to stay mad at him for making you go to the hospital

Cuddles are also an option if you’re not too upset with him

He’s very worried about you the whole time

From the moment you got hurt, he insisted you go to the hospital, but when he realized how scared you were of the place, his worry only increased

When you first arrived he wouldn’t stop talking

“Are you panicking? Is the bed soft enough? What can I do to help?”

“Kenny! Just… chill. You’re freaking me out even more.”

He claps his hand dramatically over his mouth as an “I’ll shut up now” gesture

That makes you giggle a little

He’ll try to keep amusing you to keep your mind off the situation

Showing you memes, telling stories, sharing his favorite dirty jokes, every trick he knows to get you to smile

Even when the doctors were in the room, he was making stupid faces

You had to bite your tongue to stop from laughing

When you leave, he’s way too eager to be able to hold you again

Or, if you’re staying for more than a “quick” visit, he’ll climb into the bed with you to snuggle

He makes sure to let you know how brave he thinks you are all the while

He forced you to go under the excuse:

“Why are you afraid? What’s the worst that could happen? Besides dying, I mean.”

“That’s exactly why I’m afraid, idiot!”

He literally dragged you halfway there by the wrist

If you’re particularly stubborn he’ll throw you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes

Once there, though, he unintentionally comforts you by being a dufus

Definitely goes through all the cabinets and plays with absolutely everything

“How many of these cotton balls do you think I could fit in my mouth?”

And he doesn’t even stop when the doctor walks in

“If you held the stethoscope up to my ear, would you be able to hear the song stuck in my head?”

You’re the one who has to tell him to cut it out and let the doctor do their job

Honestly, you mostly did it so that you wouldn’t burst out laughing

His blatantly idiotic behavior keeps you amused long enough that the anxiety doesn’t settle in

When you leave, he insists on going out for food

You’ll get takeout and eat at home with the TV on :)

Cartman’s ready to put the whole “boring” ordeal behind him, but you’ll never forget the confounding idiocy you saw in that hospital room

Kenny's social situation is part of why i love him haha. Realistically quiet people like him tend to be well liked but not loved; they're on good terms with most but you would never call them popular. But Kenny *is* popular sometimes. I think he has a tendency to express himself through actions more than words and is a great listener. I can't remember exactly jow much of that is canon, but yeah. I also like the fan headcanon that he always knows more than anyone expects and sometimes figures out what other people are feeling before they themselves do

Yeah. I think Kenny's quiet nature is what seems to gravitate people towards him or more so he's quiet enough on his own that he doesn't really bother anyone. And I think that's why him being a good listener is a popular of a headcannon as it is. He seems quiet enough that he would in fact listen to someone who needed to talk and not interrupt or talk over them? And maybe he'd try to offer some advice of his own if they asked for it. Ha like Mackey noted he'd make for a great counselour and maybe it's because he's great at just listening. He's canonically tried to comfort his friends when needed. He's very good at offering shoulder pats. And I esp love the moment in "Cartman's Gift" when he attempts to console Kyle. So I imagine there are times when Kenny's done the same for some of his other peers. Ha maybe he's not always so good at knowing what to say or advice but he'll try or at the least try to sympathize? Maybe that's just my own personal hc. And I've personally headcannoned Kenny being more oberservant and aware than what he's lead on to be as well. Mainly due to Mysterion's detective skills. Like when the heroes find their lair had been ransacked he was able to somehow quickly figure out it wasn't Cartman but someone who was looking for something. And just as quickly he was able to gather information about the Cthulhu cult in their neighborhood and where they were meeting and got pretty close to finding out how they linked up to his curse.

So I think at least as his alter ego Kenny had shown to be very obeservant and able to figure things/situations out rather quickly. And it'd fit perfectly with his quiet nature. I like to think he's able to just quietly gather information around him when it's needed...though he's probably spacing out just as much too. XD

the atla fandom doesn't know how to enjoy villians. I empathize with bad guys all the time so I really don't get the issue that characters can't be villians cause they're kids have yall watch kid shows. Most have kids playing bad guy vs good guy. There is nothing wrong with people viewing fictional kids as vilians. Zuko was sympathic a villian up tilll joining the gang . Azula became a sympathetic villian in the end of s3.

I feel like nobody likes him but Kyle is the only one who thinks he can possibly get better at all.

I agree on some level with that last statement. Due to Kyle's morals and complicated attachment to Cartman, he would be the only one willing to nurture the potential Cartman has, though I'd say Cartman isn't universally hated as one would assume. I think Kenny and Cartman's friendship deepened off screen since s9. It shows itself strongly in the covid specials and post-covid (not post covid the special, I mean like.. after the actual irl covid and.. ARGH mattrey u make my life so difficult)     

      Kenny was the one to approach Cartman about the fragility of the broship and inspires Cartman to be the one to make sure the gang stays together. That's a level of openness and vulnerability that frankly, I haven't seen him share with Stan or Kyle. Quite the opposite in fact-- When Kenny finally admits he's immortal, Stan and Kyle dismiss him in their own way. Neither have made the move to sympathize with him since, especially at the level Cartman does in the covid episodes. Now, Cartman's "sympathetic" method of coddling Kenny wasn't the best thing to do I'd say, the show was clear  Stan, Kyle and Cartman weren’t handling the broship fallout well, but Cartman definitely proved himself as the “best friend” the show has claimed he’s been in prioritizing Kenny during Covid. We even get a verbal reminder from Cartman and Kyle in Post-Covid that despite it being the literal worst future for everyone, Cartman and Kenny’s friendship thrived. With the opposite lives they lead, it's astounding they remained best friends for forty years.

That level of loyalty is kicking Stan and Kyle in the dirt and laughing rn. Look at Dikinbaus! Cartman and Kenny had a blast “planning the business” (ie living it up as owners and mutually taking advantage of Butters to just pal around) and Cartman once again concedes to Kenny when he lets him work from home. It’s a gag first and foremost, but still, I think it works as part of character analysis lolol. I’m analyzing this a lot from Cartman’s perspective, or at least his actions, but I don’t rlly have much to go by on Kenny’s end and I hope y’all can see why lol. excluding the Mysterion arc and the s22 Halloween episode, he’s a passive character. things rly just are happening to this dude. 

Cartman's attachment to Kenny has grown exponentially since the early seasons ("I hate yew guys/ specially kinny/ ah hate em the most/") whereas we've heard directly from Kenny what he thought of Cartman at the time s9 was written but we don't really know what he thinks of Cartman presently. Now, mattrey have written Kenny's quietness and frequent disappearances as part of the charm of his character--the mysteriousness with a pinch of hidden sadness, maybe a dash of loneliness--and not like, a serious writing pitfall of not knowing what to do with one of your main characters, not giving them the chance to let the audience see their motivations. So the uncertainty surrounding Kenny's true opinions, in this case of his friendship with Cartman, isn't by accident. I'd say it's fair to assume Kenny now views Cartman as a best friend, given how much Cartman has done for him.

I’d also say it’s fair to assume the pity for Cartman hasn’t changed.

I don't care all that much for South Park, mostly because I think the show has done way more harm than good when it comes to political discourse. But watching Alt Right chuds unironically praise Cartman on social media is fucking hilarious.

Even as a teenager I understood that the audience wasn't meant to sympathize with Cartman.

You're meant to laugh at Cartman's fucked up antics and world views. Not root for him or aspire to be like him.

Also, when South Park, a show that spent decades "Both side"-ing every major political issue is making fun of reactionaries who get worked up over women, people of color, and LGBTQ folks in nerd properties, you start to realize just how pathetic a lot of these Alt Right losers actually are.

I don't know why people fixate on the fact we're shipping those "racist cardboard cutouts" acting as if most of the fandom even empathizes with that aspect of their characters. Yes a lot of us do sorta pick and choose what to enjoy about them. Its not that I pretend that Cartman's racism doesn't exist but I just think there's more to his character than literally just that, and I admittedly put a lot of focus on those other aspects. Like I would be so fucking bored of these characters if I only judged them based on their negative traits in a show where everyone sucks. When Cartman is being a dumbass bigot in the show I know I'm supposed to not like or sympathize with his actions and I don't. But that doesn't mean its bad for me to laugh at him being a piece of shit (in a show that really wants you to know how pathetic he is) and find him interesting as a character. I feel like I always have to defend that I like Cartman so I don't come off as a bigoted freak and it sucks because people are alllll over villain characters until its one created to be a genuinely unpalatable and shitty person. If the humor of this show makes you uncomfortable honestly that's 100000% valid because I used to be that way...just don't act like I vehemently agree with every single message or episode of this show because trust me, I don't.

Crack baby athletic association was a very unfunny episode, but It also made me think quite a bit. I had quite a few thoughts throughout this episode, from minuscule things to big things:

• One of the few things I enjoyed was the black-eyed peas music. It reminds me of my childhood, since I was 4 or 5 when their music started getting really big.

• I felt like the episode could be used to demonstrate the lengths people will go to in order to justify their unethical behavior. Kyle felt like someone in denial that they were doing anything wrong. they were able to constantly rationalise everything (which I assume you have to do to work in large corporations).

• The scene with Cartman as a slave owner was the funniest part of the whole episode, both because of the southern accent he put on and because of its message.

• The one thing that really annoyed me was all the slash jokes. I didn't even know who he was until today, but pretending he's Santa seems like a pretty stupid joke. But then again, I believe KISS were Super-Heroes in a Scooby Doo movie, so anything's possible with 80s singers in fiction.

I was thinking something along the lines of "I hope they do something to ruin Kyman forever so people stop shipping it" but then I thought about it more realized this should've never became a ship to begin with. Kyle could straight up call Cartman a nazi and people would still try to justify shipping it. they somehow still sympathized with Cartman after Post Covid and "Cupid Ye" and numerous episodes before then. no matter what Cartman does people are going to defend him as if hes an innocent helpless child (which is funnier knowing Matt and Trey made this show to make fun of people who thought all kids were innocent pure angels ) i have no words.

It would be nice if folks could understand that people can like a character’s story, personality and even sympathize with their backstory but still hate their actions and acknowledge that they should receive karmic punishment for their deeds, or heck, that they’re a horrible person. And vice versa.

Like, I like Cartman. He’s funny and I enjoy watching him. Doesn’t the fact he is the biggest jerk in the universe (something even the show acknowledges.)

I finally finished watching The episode about The Coon after stopping it halfway through, and I honestly found it rather underwhelming.

I think my big reason for disliking it was that I sympathized too much with Cartman/The Coon. I felt the first few minutes were funny, but I stopped laughing when Mysterion showed up and stole the spotlight from Cartman. I felt bad for Cartman throughout the rest of the episode, and was upset that no one ever noticed him. Subsequently, this caused me to dislike Mysterion, almost irrationaly. The fun anecdote to accompany this is the fact that Mysterion is one of the characters I use least in tfbw, because I find his voice annoying and his personality equally so (the gruff, stoic type).

I am a little worried this opinion will anger some, because I have good reason to believe he's a popular character. Hopefully I don't, because I really don't want to feel guilty about an opinion. This is probably irrational, but I am a very high strung, neurotic and fearful person so...
