The leaves didnʼt even rustle when she crouched down in the bushes to examine her target. He wasnʼt expecting anything yet and as long as the wind didnʼt decide to suddenly change direction and carry her scent over to him, sheʼd be fine.

Tanjiro likes you, that was what Shinobu had told her, and Why donʼt you try and get a little closer to him, that was the following question that had kicked off this mission in the first place.

Kanao watched as Tanjiro sat down on the grass to relax. Getting closer to someone was easier said than done, but luckily, she had learned a fool-proof method from Aoi. And given the information she had collected about Tanjiro so far, it would definitely work on him.

Six meters, five, four, three and a half. Her plan was clear; get close enough, then attack from above. Kanao examined the distance. Good.

By the time Tanjiro noticed that there was something coming, she had already jumped and was inches away from tackling him.

“WUAAAH- Kanao!”

She made herself comfortable on top of him and smiled down on him. She had obviously spooked him and they had tumbled a significant distance through the grass, she had to make sure he was alright. “Are you hurt?” And not mad at her. “I’m sorry if I scared you.”

“No no, I, uh, I’m good.” He looked up at her, his initial shock being replaced by pure confusion. “Uh… what are you doing?”

Right, the mission. Her voice shook ever so slightly when she answered - please, please let this work, please let him still like me after this. “I’m trying something new.”

“What do you meHEAN!” Tanjiro stared up at her with wide eyes, his mouth stretched into a wide smile and the laughter pouring out seemingly not under his control and his arms immediately came up to try and protect himself. “GEAHAHAHAHHH WHAHAHAHAT AHAHAHARE YOHOHOU- AHAHAHAHAH, KAHAHAHANAO!”

Oopsie, coming in a little strong. Kanao moved her scribbling fingers away from his tummy and went searching for a less ticklish spot. Aoi had told her that receiving tickles could become very exhausting very quickly and she didn’t want to power Tanjiro out so quickly, she wanted him to have fun too. Squeezing his sides didn’t seem to feel quite as ticklish to him, so she remained there and looked for any sign of discomfort on his face. Nothing, but checking in wouldn’t hurt. “Is this okay?”

“Whahat? Ihi- I mehehean I guehehehess- ihihihit tihihickles!”

“It’s supposed to.” Kanao felt a sort of relief wash over her. He was not suffering at least, that was good. It would be even better if he was really enjoying himself, which she was determined to achieve. “Please tell me immediately if this isn’t fun for you.”

Tanjiro seemed confused even through his giggles for a second, then her fingers found his ribs and a fresh wave of cackles distracted him enough to make all expressions unreadable. “Aeahahaha, Kahanahahao! Nahahat thehe- GAHAHAHAD, NAHAHAHT THEHE SPAHAHAHACES BETWEAHAHAHA!”

The anxiety flaring up inside Kanao’s chest nearly made her take her hands of, but then Tanjiro looked at her and even though his eyes were glistening, there was a twinkle in them which she had seen plenty of times before, when he was fooling around with his friends, when they served him his favorite food and when Nezuko came out of her box; he was happy. He was having fun. She had done it!

“If you insist.”

The shriek Tanjiro let out when she began to tickle his tummy again had to be loudest Kanao had ever heard him. Bravely, she slipped a single finger into his belly button.

“AIEEEEEE- KAHAHAHANAO, NOHOHOOOO! STAHAHAHAHAP, PLEHEHEHEASE, TOHOO MUHUHUHUCH! I CAHAHAHAHAN’T!” Tanjiro’s hand hit the ground and Kanao immediately stopped tickling him, quickly climbing off of him and handing him some water she had brought after he managed to sit up. She fiddled with her skirt as she watched him recover. The anxious feeling was back and she used the time he needed to catch his breath to muster up the courage to speak.

“Did I overdo it?”

“What?” Tanjiro looked at her. “No, not at all. You stopped when I told you to. You respected my limit, that’s the opposite of overdoing it.”

Kanao let out a sigh in relief. What a rollercoaster of emotions this was.

“Don’t worry about it, we’re good.” He tilted his head. “But why did you do it? That came out of nowhere.”

“Shinobu said you liked me. I want us to be friends and I thought… you always seem to have fun when your other friends do this with you.”

The surprise on Tanjiro’s face quickly melted away, transforming into a smile so warm it made Kanao’s heart dance. He carefully took her hand and squeezed it softly. “We are friends, Kanao. I’m happy you felt comfortable enough to do this with me, thank you. I had a lot of fun.”

“You really did?”

“Yes, I did.” Tanjiro chuckled. “Just give me a warning next time, okay?”

The warmth spreading in Kanao’s chest was a warmth she hadn’t felt in a long time. “Okay.”

Honestly I think they both would kind of suck at confessing in their own special ways lol

Mitsuri has kind of a traditional idea of romance and expects to be asked, but she’s not opposed to being the asker. She just gets too nervous and flustered whenever she tries and chickens out.

Shinobu keeps her feelings close to her chest, but may drop a hint here or there if the mood strikes her. She feels pretty confident that Mitsuri won’t interpret as anything more than friendly teasing. You’d never guess with how confidently she presents herself, but she just doesn’t think she is capable of giving Mitsuri all that she deserves.

Needless to say, I think they do need a little help generally. Just a bit of a push. Obanai, who would never willingly work with Giyuu, did grit his teeth and put his dislike aside to work together and set up a nice date atmosphere at a new restaurant. Mitsuri and Shinobu showed up thinking all four of them would be going but it was only the two of them. Even the reservation was just in their names.

I think ultimately, Mitsuri confessed first that night. Her heart was full to bursting and she was never quite as good at hiding her feelings as Shinobu was. Shinobu doesn’t leave her hanging. It might have taken her a moment or two to collect herself, but she returns the sentiment.

Now I haven't read the manga, but Demon Slayer has me obsessed with all my little blorbos and their little interactions. The way Inosuke is so loud and feral, but Tanjiro's kindness puts him into a serene state. The way Tanjiro works so hard to encourage Zenitsu and actually listens to him. The way Zenitsu has the cutest little puppy crush on Nezuko. The way Inosuke follows in Tanjiro's footsteps and sees Nezuko as someone to headpat and feed and protect. The way Zenitsu is motivated by Tanjiro's bravery to do things he never would have the courage to on his own, throwing himself into danger to protect him. This is without mentioning the gentle incredible sibling bond Tanjiro and Nezuko share! Gods, the way these kids care about each other so much drives me into tender loving madness, I look at them and I think to myself Do Not Separate Them!!! They are Frequently Bought Together Items TM

Amidst the plethora of creatures in Youkai folklore, Hinamori descent more from the benevolent ones; an Inugami. Though most creatures of those tales are prone to be vile, mischievous and despicable, she is a protector of humanity. Of course, not all yokai proves to be evil, despite what they come off as or what is portrayed in books.

Headcanons.

Hinamori, sort of jump to an household to another, especially once the established contract to protect the place, has ended or if the person, owning the place, dies. So, she does not have a permanent roof to call home and is not looking for that to begin with.

Is obviously, much more older than her physical appearances gives off, especially when shifting to a more human design.

Given that her youkai aura tends to be overwhelming for humans and the fainthearted, she keeps that in check very regularly as to avoid certain complications and nauseous feelings.

Though that Inugamis are faithful to their contractors and protectors overall, they are not above playful little mischiefs, mostly once comfortable with somebody.

Unlike many others like her, Hina possess two tails rather than one, in her true form atleast. She may, however, be smaller in size than they usually are but it does not make her frail.

In fact, Hinamori is adept on many a things, wheter its physical combat or magics.

Tends to go by several names, including Verdant Inu.

She doesn't have to eat or sleep on the regular, like humans do. So seeing her do neither, should not come off as a surprise. The fact that she goes for vegetable dishes is, however, the puzzling piece here.
