listen listen listen im all for the eyes-creature depictions of s5!jon but i think it'd be cool to see interpretations of him as like. He's humanoid but when you look at him, you feel like you're seeing too much of him.

Where you look at him and can't help but notice every little scar on his face, every little wrinkle, the patterns created in his hair by the gradual, now accelerated greying, the way he quivers ever so slightly, each little muscle fiber in his now-unnaturally pigmented irises, the way his clothes hang off him, a skeletal figure being nourished not on food but on terror.

The Beholding in tma represents us in the real world and how we interact with stories and the characters in them, so I think the eyes-creature-obscured-features s5!Jon depictions are cool in the way that an eye alone can see everything except itself.

But consider this as the counter-point you're no-doubt thinking: that an eye can only see itself in its own reflection. And I think Jon could suit the role of a mirror quite nicely. Does th. Does this make sense?

I'm just thinking about like...when did Jonah fall for the Eye?

We know he must of had some form of power around 1924 when Barnabas got banished because he decided to watch him, he wanted to see what would happen.

Did he gain his powers around the time he established the institute? Maybe he was already an avatar before he met Smirke, and he used Smirkes research to feed himself and the Eye. I got no clue.

Maybe we'll get more backstory to Jonah in the magnus protocol. Perhaps a statement from himself, instead of his story being told from an outside perspective. I think that's why, out of all of the TMA villains, people hate him the most. His story is the one we don't hear. His side of things, what happened.

TMA is a story about choices and the lengths people will go to achieve some ounce of power. Why does he want power and immortality. There must be a deeper reason. All avatars struggled and felt so deeply that they became the thing that both haunted them and they relished in. So why did Jonah become an avatar. Just because he was an obsessive academic? Because he was an elitist snob? There has to be a deeper reason, people!

...Anyway, this won't be my final ramble about Jonah. There's so much more I can say about him

recently read a fic where the mechs took Jonny's memories, put a perception filter on him and left him on earth for a couple decades for being a dick and he turned out as Jon Sims and got his memories back and was all the flair of Jonny D'Ville with the powers of The Archivist

which got me to thinking that Jonny is definitely an Avatar of/touched by The Slaughter (he knows and doesn't much care) but The Beholding would love him and it would hate it

Because he definitely inspires fear and he's feeding The Beholding pretty good with all the knowledge of the fear and pain of literally billions like The Beholding would get a 5-course meal out of Jonny and all he'd have to do is perform and since he literally can't die they could theoretically do this for pretty much eternity. Jonny could easily perform the Watcher's Crown and he'd be perfectly fine doing it.

But also like. Look at him. Rat Bastard man. he's not afraid himself which...meh. Also Jonny would choose to not feed Beholding out of pure spite because I think more than anything Jonny would despise being controlled or manipulated he'd probably stop performing all together if he knew it would feed the Eyebomination. Jonny would also hate the beholding right back. Creepy Voyeuristic bastard. Plus the beholding is such a pretentious bitch and only wants the Refined, Matured Fear that's been building for years and Jonny is literally just there to break as many laws as possible in record time and doesn't have time for the schemes but having Beholding powers is a lot more useful for getting a good song out of people

TLDR; my personal headcanon is that Jonny D'Ville and The Ceaseless Watcher are in a mutually beneficial relationship and they both absolutely despise each other (Plus The Slaughter sort of stands in the corner cheering on it's Specialest Lil Boy and his friends)

{WIP Artwork} Hello! I'm Kyi otherwise known as Colorado and this is my comic project: Ceaseless Snow/Rain (CS/R) and I'm glad to be launching a tumblr about it! Follow along with me as I write out this wonderous story and, of course, get the opportunity to know more about the characters. This is three part story with an already planned ending and beginning. The rest of the work is just planning out the middle and give myself breaks so I don't burn out! ^^ I haven't 100% decided where I'll be publishing but my goal is to use a manga/comic story format. Story Synopsis:

The year is 2185, and the world continues to develop with technology and the fantastic. Akrotiri Salah finds herself late for school, only to discover something terrible once she gets there. Beyond her scope, a mystery cult continues its efforts to take over the world.

Jonah Magnus has fear of commitment let me explain:

- harem of 1800s lovers

- has ones bones in his office (Bennett), worked with another on a long architectural project that required him to actually change the plans so likely needed to be close to Smirke

- still ended up killing off at least two of them whether directly or indirectly

Therefore Jonah Magnus actually had a lot of chances to find love within his circle of friends who I firmly believe were enchanted with him — and yet when one got too close (both Smirke and Bennett) they came to an untimely demise.

Were some of these deaths out of curiousity about the powers and his own desire for power?

Definitely.

But he also does care about them.

It’s part of why the Plukas fanon works so well: Peter Lukas specifically preys on the recently divorced because they’re lonely, and who else would be lonely besides a man who’s been too afraid of commitment for a proper relationship for centuries? You know who can prey on that fear? Peter Lukas.
