Hmm (a christmas drabble)
Aemond Targaryen x f!reader (+ Aegon Targaryen II)
📝 masterlist
context: reader is from our modern world, who magically finds herself in House of the Dragon, falling in love with Aemond and becoming his consort.
Tumblr media
"Christmas? This is something you celebrate?" Aemond asks, curiosity genuine in his expression.
You gaze at your lover, admiring every curve and crevice of his chiseled face. Beautiful.
He used to be someone seemingly plucked from your dreams; a perfect prince, one whom you had the pleasure to see on television every week. And now, he is in front of you. Here, he is yours. "Yes, well, I don't have a definite way of knowing what month it is at the moment here in Westeros, my love, but per my calculation, it has been around 2 months since I came here."
"So, it would be Da..cem...berg?" He tries out the term, apprehension in his tone. He wants to get everything right for you. He wants to show you that he is making every effort in understanding your traditions.
You smile at him, moving closer to gently tuck a silver strand behind his ear, "December, Aemond. It must be nearly the end of December by now, which would mean that it is..."
"Christmas." He repeats the name, seemingly proud at himself for remembering.
"Good job, my love. Yes, exactly." You lean forward, and peck him softly on the lips.
He blushes, his hands gripping your forearms, "Then we shall have a feast. As is required by this tradition of yours. I will ensure that all will go perfectly for you."
"No need for a feast, baby." The name falls from your lips flawlessly, making Aemond's heart skip, just as it did the first time you called him baby.
"Baby?" He had asked, incredulous, "Do you mean to insult me by likening me to an infant babe?"
"No, Aemond," you rushed to explain, "Baby is meant to be a romantic term of endearment in my world. A bit annoying really, but hey, it's cute."
"Cute?" He asked again.
"Cute, my love. Like you are."
"Oh." He mumbled, and that prompted an afternoon of acquainting him with the vernacular that you lived with.
Now, he himself tries out the word for the first time, "Baby, let me know how you wish to celebrate this tradition called Christmas, and it shall come to pass. Anything for you."
"I don't want for much, really. I just want you."
"Hmm," he voices out. That sweet sound, one which you have witnessed the internet go crazy over, back in your world. "Well, you have me."
"Do I, now?"
"Always. I am yours." He runs his fingers on your cheek, his eye glistening as he looks at you.
Aemond Targaryen professing that he is yours. Even now, it still does not fail to excite you. Taking a deep breath, you try to steady yourself by lightly responding, "Well, we could have a drink or two with your family."
He snorts, "A drink? A certain brother of mine would surely be receptive to that idea."
"Where is he anyway?"
"I had asked him to come meet us here."
"Anyway, he..."
"Has arrived. Your saviour has arrived." Aegon's voice echoes loudly in the room. Speak of the devil.
"Brother," Aemond tenses up, then relaxes, used to his brother's bothersome interruptions.
"Good evening, lovebirds. What is this about a feast Aemond told me about?" Aegon walks over, his feet slightly dragging behind him. Someone's been hitting the ale reserves.
"Not exactly a feast, Aegon," you say, "it would just be a small gathering between us. A few drinks shared. Conversation, drinking games."
"Sweetheart," he raises a finger at you, "you had me at drinks."
"Aegon," Aemond rolls his eyes impatiently.
"What, my dear brother? You support your beautiful lady's idea, yes?"
Aemond's hand tightens around yours, "When she told me, I was on board, yes. I would do anything for y/n."
"That's admirable, Aemond, considering she quite literally just sprung up from nowhere. We are still in the dark as to where she came from." Aegon winks at you, his words meant to be taken lightly.
"It matters not where she came from," Aemond decidedly says, "only that she is meant to be here with me."
"Stand down, boys," you croon, "it's Christmas."
"Don't curse at me, sweetheart." Aegon points at you.
"Hush, Aegon."
"Love you too, new sister."
"Merry Christmas, you drunkard." You wag your brows in response, already used to the banter only Aegon can provide.
"Huh, I would say the same to Aemond, but his face doesn't look too merry." Aegon snickers at his own words.
"Hmm." Aemond hums.
Heavens help you. Hearing that hmm in person just might be the best Christmas gift you could have ever received.

Happy holidays to all who celebrate! (And even to those who don't. Everyone, just have a great weekend) 🖤🖤🖤

second time watching OTGW and I might be losing my mind
I'm just rewatching this masterpiece most certainly NOT on internet archive and certainly probably not silently dying because the first time I saw this I only saw the way Wirt's selfishness was being pruned out of him by the Fae world, and I only saw the grief on the Woodsman's side, but there's so
There's so much else to see on the second time through
Like the frog? George Washington? Being able to speak English when all the other frogs can't and yet not being able to speak English when it's just him and the humans? He's sort of a look into Greg's point of view? And he's this point of weird messed up communication because he's something Wirt and Greg were supposed to find together, hunting frogs like bros n stuff
But it was kind of half done; Wirt didn't want to be a part of that adventure and he was focused on Sara for all of the duration of it. Greg did most of the work, so that's why Washington reflects him most (he can communicate to everyone, but those of his own species speak a different language than him and seem to miss his points)
I'm sorry I'm thinking too hard into this but BUT IT WARRANTS THIS
AND THE WAY THAT UH
THE BELL GIRL
SHE'S KIND OF A FORESHADOWING TO THE WAY THE LAMP HANDLES PEOPLE
HOLDING ONTO HER ILLNESS AND TRYING TO DROWN IT WITH WORK ONLY MAKES THINGS WORSE, JUST AS HOLDING ONTO GRIEF AND TRYING TO DROWN IT WITH WORK  MAKES IT WORSE
SHE AND THE WOODSMAN ARE HORRIBLY ALIKE BUT WIRT TRUSTS HER MORE BECAUSE SHE RESEMBLES SOMETHING MORE HUMAN
AND THAT NEEDS TO BE SLAPPED OUT OF HIM, THE FAE CANT OPERATE UNDER THAT
Also I didn't realize how much Wirt actually seems to love Greg
Like yeah he's selfish
But that's very much towards the back half of the episodes, and by then he's genuinely had his trust shattered and he's struggling to carry burdens and Greg doesn't get that because he sees the world completely differently, he's got zero preconceived notions burned into him
Wirt has notions, he's old enough for it
And he's kind of hampered by them
Only looking at this twice did I actually see the fog that he steps into in the eighth episode, the genuine fog, and how he kind of shuts down
It's... depression?
And Greg's response is that of a kid who doesn't understand depression in the least because he just isn't old enough to have run up against it yet
I get the sense that Greg asked the lady of dreams to make him take Wirt's place, or something like that, but he has no idea what he's stepping into
Greg is so much smaller and it's really not his role to be the big brother
The beast (who could represent a whole host of stuff like depression? Fear? Self-flagellation?) demands he do impossible things and reach impossible goals and Greg does them at first but then he gets so worn out because it's so hard to sustain a beast like that
So he ends up completely immobilized by these vines of atrocious levels of fear? And he's so tiny? and he's never been through something like that
While Wirt, for all his faults, is hardened by his failures and fears to the degree that he can look his grief in the face and say "I'm not indulging you; your move."
Faerie changes Greg in a sense because it exposes him to realities that he doesn't fit, but he really doesn't seem to retain the effects of these negative realities. That or they simply don't affect him back in the human world. I mean Greg is a champ at seeing eldritch terrors and going "aw hey there, Barnaby! :D" and moving on with the retention span of a happy cucumber so maybe he just did that again. Maybe he still doesn't necessarily get the line between a bad dream and a deep truth. But I kind of get the sense he wasn't as deeply affected because the trip into Faerie wasn't for him.
Wirt, though, went through the classic Faerie-story process of being taken down to his lowest point in order to find himself, and that experience absolutely stayed with him.
I just remembered that Wirt and Greg jump out of a cemetery as the first step to get into the Unknown and the way it goes is Wirt cries "that's it, this is the end" like the drama queen he is and Greg immediately interprets this and jumps off the wall a moment before Wirt does
Greg knew a moment before Wirt moved that Wirt was going to jump, so he jumped first
He never ever hesitates to follow/lead his brother into deep trouble because he
Greg just
He has no concept of fear
Sssssssssaaaaaaaaa
They enter through water, and when they go back, they're returning through water.
It reeks so hard of baptism/rebirth symbolism and I'm scrambling to grasp all of it
Also the fact that Quincy Endecott has a gravestone in that cemetery
So he really is a ghost, humanly speaking ❤️
Mm
Yeah I just really love this show to my bones and I cannot wait to look into more of it and scrape more thoughts together

𝗔𝘆𝗮𝘁𝗼:
To say Ayato had always been overprotective of you would be quite the understatement.
He was worried. Head commissioner has a great deal of enemies. Enemies that would stoop as low as hurting his fiance. They won’t stop until they hit him where it hurts.
And so when you didn’t arrive back home until late at night, he was so terrified. He didn’t rest, instead ordering whoever he could to find you and find you quick.
He waited at the front of the estate for hours, waiting for some kind of news. Ayato was practically restless. How could he not be?
That’s when he caught sight of you stumbling up the steps to the estate. You were completely bruised up and your clothes were tattered to oblivion. You collapsed as soon as you reached the top of the steps.
“[Name]?! Oh archons [Name].” Ayato practically cried out, rushing to your side.
Quickly, he takes off his coat and wraps it around your body. You latch onto his shirt as soon as he pulls you close.
“Ring for the medic immediately. Prepare a room and the best treatments possible.” He ordered to the nearby guard, turning back to you. “My love, who did this to you?”
You groan, fighting to rest in your lover’s arms. “Some.. fatui agents.. they were..” Ayato shifted to lift you, carrying you close. “Ah, it hurts..”
“Shh, I know, I know.” He responds, bringing you back into the estate. “You’re gonna be okay. You’re safe, okay?”
Ayato met the medic down the hall, allowing him to lead the two of you to a room for treatment. His mind was racing the entire time. But one word kept ringing the whole time.
Revenge.
The Skirmisher groaned in pain as his eyes opened with great struggle. His whole body felt like it was on fire. The only thing he could feel besides pain was his limbs tied to a chair.
“Where- where am I?” He asked, trying to see who was around him.
A mysterious figure stepped into the light. It was none other than Mr. Kamisato Ayato himself.
“That does not matter at the moment.” He speaks, a piercing gaze never leaving the agent. “Now, let’s get down to our business.”
He walks closer to the Skirmisher, gazing down on him. “I haven’t properly introduced myself. My name is Kamisato Ayato. From my research, you are the agent who hurt my fiance.”
His eyes widened as Ayato leaned down to face him directly. “I brought you here to send a message back to your organization. Directly from me.” His eyes darkened further. “If you lay a finger on them I will kill you. No mercy. No hesitation. I will not be kind to anyone who dares try to hurt them again. Do I make myself crystal clear?”
The agent nodded in fear, scared of giving any other answer to the commissioner. He nodded in satisfaction, leaving the agent to breathe another minute. Ayato turned around, facing the captain of his guards.
“Do whatever you’d like, but keep him alive. I want him to crawl back to headquarters wishing he was dead.”
The captain nodded in understanding, and Ayato left them to it. Now his main priority was getting back home to you. He was escorted back to his estate, where he immediately went to your shared room to see you.
“My love, are you awake?” He asked upon entering, seeing your sleeping form.
He let out a soft smile, approaching your side to check on your injuries. He trusted that the estate medic did a spectacular job in fixing you up. All that mattered was you getting more rest now.
Ayato sighed, sitting on the bed. “Oh darling, I’m..”
This was the first time he had seen you so defenseless. He vowed to protect you and failed. He feels horrible for it all. But he didn’t want to cry in front of you, even if you’re asleep.
“I’m so sorry this all happened..” He whispered. “You deserve the world. I swear to you, as long as I’m by your side, they will never come to hurt you again.”
Even though Ayato was practically talking to himself, every word he spoke was from the heart. He just didn’t know that you were listening, your heart racing and filling with love.
And he kept his word from that day forward. His constant protection of you keeps you safe 24/7. And you couldn’t be more grateful for that.
𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲:
Fatui work was dangerous for the normal person to get involved in. Hell, even the greatest adventurers steered clear of them most of the time. Ajax knew the risk that his line of work came with. And the last thing he wanted to do was drag you into anything dangerous.
He did his very best to keep his personal life and work life separate. But some of his enemies just wouldn’t let him. That’s how you came to get your injuries.
As it was his day off, you asked to meet in Liyue for lunch. Morning duties called for you, so he promised to meet you there.
Upon arrival, he decided to wait for you at the front. He had to escort his partner in like the gentleman he was. What a good boyfriend!
But five minutes turned to ten. Then ten to twenty. And soon he had waited half an hour for you to arrive.
Ajax decided to look for you himself and began walking down the steps of the restaurant. Before he could far, he turned to see you sprinting towards him, a small limp in your step.
“[Name]?” He called out to you as you crashed into him, hugging him closely. “Woah, hey now.. what happened?”
He heard crying coming from you. “They.. I tried to.. I’m sorry..”
Childe looked down upon you, finally noticing how badly you were hurt. Cuts and bruises, a slash across your leg, and so much more. Carefully, he moves his hands to hold your head, keeping you close to his chest.
“Who did this to you?”
You explain how it was some fatui enemies that wanted revenge on tartaglia. He tried his best to keep calm for your sake. Instead, he kept all thoughts of revenge away for now. Getting you fixed up and safe was his first priority.
Ajax watched with dark eyes as the enemy in front of him regained consciousness. It wasn’t hard to find him. He was a harbinger after all.
“Hope you had a good rest.” He speaks sarcastically, making the man straighten up. That’s when he realized he was tied up.
“What.. What’s going on?”
Childe laughs, moving forward to the man. “It seems you have forgotten what has happened merely two days ago.”
This man wasn’t going to be let off so easily. He was going to make sure of that. Hence, the exact reasons why he brought three other fatui guards to assist him.
“You’re here because you dared to lay hands on my partner, [Name].” Ajax informs him. He raises his boot, placing it down on the man’s knee. “I don’t take kindly to anyone who messes with them. Anyone.”
The enemy is scared by now, eyes widened and sweating. “Please, I didn’t have a choice! I was merely sent to take care of them!”
“Well then, you can send this message back to whoever sent you.” Ajax pressed on, putting pressure on the man’s knee. “If you lay a finger on them I will kill you. No hesitation. It will be slow and painful. And you will suffer.” He speaks lowly, practically crushing his knee.
Childe released his hold, turning around from the man. He gave a signal to his guards and made his way to the door.
“Teach him a good lesson. That I’m not to be messed with.”
Once he ensured that the man would be taken care of, he went back home. His harbinger duties were all taken care of, and he truly just wanted to be with you.
He arrived home to the smell of dinner cooking. A warm smile graced his face as he went to the kitchen to greet you. Ajax’s arms wrap around your waist once he reaches you.
“I thought I told you to get some rest, darling.”
You smile, leaning into his touch. “I’m okay. Allow me to make this for your hard work these past few days.”
He didn’t fight you more on it. Instead, he enjoyed a quiet evening with you after the long day’s work. And he vowed that you will stay protected as long as he shall live. Forever and always.

Possible Cem Mary spoilers-
If they don't have a christ, how come there's a church in cemetery mary?
Different worship, but with many similarities to Christianity.
On top of that, I often think of my games as being like a "translation" from their world to our world.
These characters probably don't actually speak english--they speak their own language. But their stories are written in english for an audience to be able to understand. They probably don't have a planet "Mars" 'cause they don't live on "Earth", but when Crowven calls Mary "Mars" it is to convey to the audience a nickname that a normal human would understand. When Mary goes to church, it is to convey to the audience that wherever she is would be our earthly equivalent to a Christian church, even if Christianity doesn't exist there.
I'm sure that sounds a bit confusing, but I hope it makes a little bit of sense?

Why Tolkien’s fantastic imaginary languages have had more impact than Esperanto
Published: January 11, 2017 11.19am GMT
Philip Seargeant
Fantasy languages
JRR Tolkien was himself a supporter of Esperanto, believing it could help unite Europe after World War I. But his personal interest in language invention was very different. His aim wasn’t to enhance the world we live in, but instead to create a completely new one in fiction. He referred to it as his “secret vice”, and explained that for him the purpose was aesthetic rather than pragmatic. It was the creative delight in matching sound, form and meaning in entirely original ways.
As part of the process of giving substance to the languages he was inventing, he needed to provide a mythology for them. As living, evolving entities, languages take their vitality from the cultures of the people who use them. And it was this that led to the creation of his fictional universe. “The invention of languages is the foundation,” he wrote. “The ‘stories’ were made rather to provide a world for the languages than the reverse.”
And how about conlangs today? A hundred years after the death of Zamenhof, in many ways the art of language construction is as popular as ever. One of the most celebrated current examples is Dothraki, from Game of Thrones.
Created by David J Peterson for Game of Thrones, the televised version of George RR Martin’s novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, the inspiration for this can be traced back to both Zamenhof and Tolkien.
It was while taking a course on Esperanto at university that Peterson first became interested in conlangs, while Martin has spoken of the way that his saga is, in many ways, a response to The Lord of the Rings. And as a tribute he includes various small linguistic references to Tolkien’s world: warg, for example, meaning someone who can project his consciousness into the minds of animals, is a word Tolkien uses for a large species of wolf.
So overall one would have to say that it’s the Tolkienian tradition of fantasy world-building that has prevailed. There are perhaps two reasons for this.
The first is linguistic. Paradoxically, Tolkien’s concept is closer to how languages actually work in the real world. His Elvish languages as they are depicted throughout his work are living, changing things, which evolve to reflect the culture of the communities who speak them. The idea of an international auxiliary language, on the other hand, is to provide a stable base, which can be easily learnt by anyone. But human languages are never static; they’re always dynamic. So Esperanto has a fundamental flaw built into its very conception.
And the second reason? Well, maybe these days we’re happier to dedicate ourselves to the creation of fantasy worlds, rather than looking for ways to repair our own.
A primeira é linguística.
E a segunda razão? Bem, talvez nos dias de hoje estejamos mais felizes em nos dedicarmos à criação de mundos fantasiosos, em vez de procurarmos maneiras de consertar o nosso próprio mundo.

''In Turkey many Alevi families faced daily humiliation, discrimination, imprisonment and persecution. The majority of the first-generation Alevi migrants in this research grew up in the political climate of the post-1980 military coup which adopted the Turkish-Islamic Synthesis (TIS) as its official state policy. Within this framework, Alevi communities who were previously practising their religious rituals such as cem ceremonies in secret, were forced to abandon them altogether, leaving a generation with little or no knowledge of Alevi religion and cultural practices to pass onto their children.
The negative identity attached to Alevis in Turkey as a religious and political ethnic group led some Alevis, especially those who migrated to the urban areas, to hide their identity, join different faith communities or abandon their religion altogether. In order to protect their children’s interests, some parents passed themselves off as Sunni Muslims, and those from Kurdish backgrounds forbade their children to speak Kurdish in order to get rid of their accents and to use ‘proper’ Turkish so that they could be assimilated into mainstream society and secure a better future.
This meant that in the process of ‘assimilation’ in Turkey, some people grew up unaware of their Alevi heritage and would not have been able to pass on their religious beliefs and practices even if they had known them. If parents were not passing on these traditions to their children and the religious leaders were no longer being called to arbitrate on village/community matters, this led to a loss of religious content and a breakdown in the regulative and integrative functions that religion had served for the community, which in any case was being fractured through persecution, assimilation and migration.
As conditions worsened for Alevis in Turkey, large numbers migrated to the UK in a very short space of time in the late 1980s and early 1990s as asylum-seekers from the areas most affected by the massacres of Alevis. Their claims for asylum were based primarily on religious grounds as Alevis who had been denied their right to practise their faith, but also on political grounds as left-wing and ethnically Kurds.''
From a ‘sort of Muslim’ to ‘proud to be Alevi’: the Alevi religion and identity project combatting the negative identity among second-generation Alevis in the UK

Give me all you have!
please!?🥺🥺🥺
I tend to go in-depth with my OCs, so I'm going to start with just one, if that's okay with you :)
This one might be "cheating", since she technically is a character in Legends -- though one we never actually met or saw. She was only mentioned briefly by her brother, as a warning of how dangerous the Unknown Regions were, as one of the two members of the Fel family who died before reaching 20. I've had enough of women in fiction being used as just props in a male character's backstory, so with my AU, I decided to change that.
Meet Cherith Fel
Tumblr media
Read the very little there is about her in Legends here
Birth year: 10 ABY
Race: Human (Corillian family background)
Place of Birth: Nirauan -- Chakra City. Empire of the Hand, the Unknown Regions, the Galaxy Far Far Away
Family: General Baron Soontir Fel -- Father. Syal Antilles Fel -- Mother. Older brothers Davin, Chak and Jagged. Younger brother Cem, younger sister Wynessa. Wedge Antilles --- maternal uncle.  Considers the Chiss Empress Lexx'elarra'nuruodo - Xelarra her honourary aunt.
___
Cherith was born the fourth out of the six Fel children, and first daughter of the renowned Imperial fighter pilot Baron Soontir Fel, considered one of, if not *the* finest pilot to ever get behind the controls of a TIE, any TIE, and his wife, holovid star Syal Antilles Fel, after Soontir had been hand-picked by Grand Admiral Thrawn as one of the elite Imperial officers he trusted with his secret "shadow" Empire in the Unknown Regions, the Empire of the Hand. The fact that Thrawn was willing to trust Fel after he had left the Empire to join the Rebellion speaks volumes of just how good a pilot and officer he was.
Cherith grew up alongside her brothers, and was as eager as they were to follow in their father's vapour trails. She watched impatiently as her three older brothers, Davin, Chak and Jagged, did just that, yearning for her turn. As she grew older, however, something else besides the thrill of flying also caught her attention -- longtime family friend, Mitth'shra'nuruodo -- Shran, son of Grand Admiral Thrawn and Empress Xelarra. The Chiss boy was only a year older than her, best friends with her brother Jagged (himself 3 years older than Cherith), and their mothers were also friends (as had been their fathers, before Grand Admiral Thrawn's death)  so Shran was a constant presence in her life, almost like an extra brother, and she'd often join Jag and Shran in playing video games (especially TIE simulator), and listening to Shran go on with just as much enthusiasm about *his* chosen field, joining the Explorers, an offshoot of the Hand's navy specializing in exploration and scientific discovery over military action. The more Shran told her about it, the more fun it seemed -- exploring new worlds, carving new paths through the Chaos, finding new resources and allies for the Empire of the Hand.
Having four brothers, it took a bit longer than most human girls to realize that boys are sometimes not *completely* disgusting. Her childhood friendship with Shran evolved into a crush she couldn't shake, even after he had left for the Explorers academy. She tried to push her feelings aside, and concentrate on her own entrance into the Empire of the Hand's fighter academy, as her family expected, as even she thought she wanted.
Flying came naturally to Cherith, and she did put her all into her TIE training, striving to be just as good, if not better, than her brothers. However, Cherith found she actually did enjoy piloting larger ships as well. They might not be capable of aerobatics like TIEs, but her understanding of starfighters translated amazingly well to corvettes and frigates, and, more importantly, to Explorer ships, which are surprisingly maneuverable for 300-metre long science vessels. They're meant to be fast and tough, able to do scouting missions as well as exploration. Cherith began to wonder just what she could push such a ship to do if she were at the helm, and not just because of a certain blue boy who *might* be assigned to the same ship, if she were extremely lucky.
At 16, just months away from graduating from the Empire of the Hand's starfighter academy, Cherith faced the most intimating trial of her life -- telling her father she didn't want to be a TIE pilot. She wanted to be an Explorer.
The Baron was quiet for a few minutes after his daughter poured her heart out, then wrapped his arms around her. He reassured Cherith that he would have been far more disappointed if she had only half-heartedly become a TIE pilot just to please him, and would have been devastated if that disappointment in her path led to her getting killed in the field. TIE pilots have to want it more than anything to survive, and he'd much rather have an alive, happy daughter doing something, anything else, than one who died trying to impress him. He advised her to finish her training -- Fels are not quitters, after all. Then, as an officer, she'd have an easier time applying to be an Explorer. Her training time in her new field would also be reduced.
After another year of class studies, and a year as a cadet, Lieutenant Cherith Fel finally came aboard the RRS Intrepid as the junior helms officer. In her new, Explorer blue uniform, with the silver accents denoting her position as a pilot, she finally felt like she was where she belonged.
As she reported to the bridge for her first shift, she finally met her new Captain:
"Welcome to the Intrepid, Lieutenant Fel.  I’m looking forward to serving with you.” said Shran, with the same, cocky, full of himself smile she knew so well from when they had been kids.
She returned the smile, "as am I, Captain."
