Cloud People of Peru.

In the remote mountainous Amazonas region of present-day Peru, various relics stand as testimony to the Chachapoyas and what they achieved. The scene just described is the site of Karijia, where six full-size sarcophagi preside over the surrounding territory, and have done for almost a millennium. Made of clay and plant matter, the masked coffins contain the mummified remains of Chachapoya elite. How they were placed in such an inaccessible position, no one knows.

Podrías hacer todo un RPG con los Andes, solamente. Los Incas son solamente una parte, están los collas y los demás hablantes aymara, los chimúes, los chachapoyas, las ciudades costeras como Pachacamac y los chinchas (que según Pizarro tenían diez mil barcos), los pueblos de Ecuador como los huancavelica y los cañari... todas con sus rasgos culturales únicos... todas las ruinas que predatan a los Incas (Chavín, que todavía era objeto de culto en épocas coloniales, Tiwanaku, las líneas de Nazca, Caral...) Y NI HABLEMOS DE LOS AMBIENTES, tenés desde las cumbres glaciales hasta los altiplanos, los desiertos costeros, las selvas cubiertas de nubes, los salares, las quebradas multicolores...

Eso es solamente en tres países actuales, Perú, Bolivia y Ecuador. Mínimo tenés un mapa del tamaño de un Skyrim. Imaginate si incluís el resto de Sudamérica.

Premier jour avec une activité au Pérou!

Le commencement a été un peu lent, puisque j'ai attrapé un bus de plus et fait environ 4h30 de route ... Avec des bébés poussins dans des caisses sur le toit qui ont pioupiouté tout le trajet ! A noter qu'ici, je sens que le concept de bus va disparaitre au profit de ces espèces de petites camionettes ... Ce qui ressemble beaucoup au Cambodge!

Une fois en ville (bienvenue à Chachapoyas!), je commence bien évidemment par un bon déjeuner ... Rempli d'ingrédients étranges. Voici du "charqui de olluco", de la viande séchée avec un tubercule local, c'était super bon !

Puis je pars en direction du mirador de Huancas Sonche, qui surplombe un immense canyon ! Mine de rien, il fait presque 1km de profondeur quand même ...

Quand je m'approche du bord, j'entends la rivière qui coule en bas, j'adore ce son ...

Comme j'arrive plutôt tard, je ne peux malheureusement pas aller jusqu'au deuxième mirador (qui est quand même à 4km), tant pis !

J'en profite pour longer un peu le canyon, où je tombe sur des invités inattendus ... (Et je ne parle pas du soleil qui a décidé de ressortir le bon de son nez ! Le pire c'est qu'on a crevé de chaud toute la matinée dans ce maudit bus sans clim, et qu'il a commencé à pleuvoir en arrivant ...)

Et ce soir, je goûte une autre spécialité locale, aussi à base de viande séchée ! Je ne suis par contre officiellement vraiment pas fan de cet espèce de maïs blanc, il est particulièrement insipide :(

Ah oui, petit moment marrant : j'ai attrapé une mini camionnette pour redescendre en ville, et on ne prend pas le même chemin qu'à l'aller. Quand je demande au chauffeur pourquoi on fait le tour, il me regarde d'un air désespéré, en mode "mais c'est quoi cette touriste", et me repond ... "Ben tu vois bien qu'il y a des vaches. Et des troncs d'arbres! "... Qui sont en effet apparus spontanément en plein milieu de la route dans l'heure et demie qui s'est écoulée !

The Warriors of the Clouds, also known as the Chachapoya people, were a culture of Andean people living in the cloud forests of the Amazon region of present day Peru. The incredible sarcophagi they constructed for the deceased were placed on the ledges of high cliff faces and lined up, like a row of sentinels guarding the dead.
