There were a few things Y/N hated about her life. Her parents were terrible, and she was an only child. She did not have many friends, but there was one main thing she hated the most—not getting to tell the world she was deeply in love with Chrissy Cunningham.
Chrissy and Y/N have been best friends since middle school. They grew up together. Both struggled with their lives at home and found a safe place with each other. Once they reached high school, Y/N began to realize she was into girls, and girls only. She came out to Chrissy right away, and just as she expected, Chrissy welcomed her with open arms.
Once junior year hit, Chrissy began to question things. She began to see Y/N in ways she wasn't used to. She knew Y/N liked girls ever since freshman year, and it made her look different. Not in a bad way by any means, just more of an I wonder how she tastes kind of look, which Chrissy was not used to at all. She only saw herself with boys, and now all she saw herself with was Y/N.
By the end of junior year, Y/N tried very hard to stop falling for her best friend. She knew Chrissy accepted her, but maybe if she knew all the dirty things that flashed through her head when Chrissy wore that tiny skirt, she may not have accepted it so much. But at the end of the year party that Chrissy hosted, Chrissy shocked the both of them. Chrissy led Y/N to her bedroom, with a confession on her tongue. They sat close, their knees touching.
"I have to tell you something," Chrissy knew she sounded nervous; the concerned gaze was apparent in Y/N's eyes.
"You can tell me anything, Chris," with a big encouraging smile on her face. Chrissy could feel her heart swooning at how gorgeous she looked. Just a simple smile was knocking Chrissy's breath away.
"I think I have feelings for you." The room was somehow silent, even with the booming music in the background from downstairs.
Y/N felt her heart stop. This is everything she has wanted since freshman year. Her face felt like it was stuck in a permanent smile.
"I've had feelings for you since freshman year." Chrissy giggled with excitement. She really did not think she would like her back. All of Y/N's past crushes were edgy, mysterious, and vicious. Chrissy was the exact opposite of that. She was innocent, a virgin, and a girly girl. They ended the night with a kiss. Well, a few kisses.
~~
Now here they are, senior year, more in love than ever. Chrissy never came out to anyone else, and Y/N respected that. Chrissy had a "queen B" reputation and did not want to jeopardize it. Her parents would kill her if she dropped her status this late in her life, even if it hurt Y/N. She acted like they were just best friends.
During school, they were just best friends. When Y/N stayed back to watch cheerleading practice, she watched as a supportive friend, not a girlfriend who wanted nothing more than to ruin her in that skirt. Y/N created posters with tons of glitter for every game, as a best friend would, not a girlfriend who was obsessed with supporting her girlfriend with everything. They were best friends who sat next to each other during the after parties. They were best friends who sent glares at anyone who approached them. Y/N would yank Chrissy away from every basketball player who thought they had a chance to talk to her. And Chrissy would shyly take Y/N away the moment a girl approached her with a smirk. To everyone, they were best friends.
But to each other, they were soulmates. Y/N could not imagine falling in love with anyone else. And Chrissy could not imagine calling anyone else hers.
So even if it was hard, they made it work. Sleepovers were used as a chance to spend every second alone underneath the covers. Y/N parents were never home, so a house to themselves always came in handy. Y/N lost count of how many times she had Chrissy on the countertop, legs spread open, and devoured her inside and out.
Chrissy knew nothing about how it felt to be with anyone, let alone a girl. So whenever Y/N had her gasping and orgasming for hours, she felt like she was on top of the world. This feeling was everything she read about in books. Her parents would disown her for loving another girl. Sunday church has done nothing to erase the memories in her head of Y/N between her thighs. She didn't want to go to heaven anymore unless Y/N was taking her there.
So being this in love and having to be a secret would be a problem, right? It so was. Everyone thought Chrissy was single because she refused to see anyone worthy. That didn't stop the guys from trying to win her over. Y/N had to bite her tongue when a guy would walk over to their lunch table to ask Chrissy on a date. She had to hide the burning sensation in her stomach when Chrissy would giggle and laugh. She always said no, but that didn't take away the sting. It hurt knowing she could never show everyone that Chrissy was hers.
And things got a lot more complicated when Chrissy began to hang with Eddie. Y/N remembered Eddie from middle school. She knew he wasn't a bad person, but she had a feeling he was into her girlfriend. The first time Chrissy met with him, Y/N did not mind. She knew Chrissy was having nightmares and just wanted some weed to take the edge off. Y/N smoked it herself, but she did not supply it.
The one meetup soon led to multiple meetups. At first, Chrissy said she was heading to Eddie's the night after the first deal because he wanted to teach her how to smoke it. Y/N was a tad annoyed as she could easily teach Chrissy, but she did not want to sound too jealous, so she let it be.
She fucking wished she had never let it be. Now Eddie follows her around like a puppy. Y/N knew it was hard for Chrissy to make real friends, so she did not want to get in the way, but it hurt. His eyes followed her every move, stupid heart eyes filling his brown orbs. He'd smile every time they made eye contact. Whenever Y/N would spend the night at Chrissy's, she had to sit and listen to her answer Eddie's phone call for hours. He was stealing her girlfriend away, and she hated that she could not do a thing about it.
~~~
"So after practice, do you want to come-" But to her surprise, she was cut off by a curly metalhead that popped right next to her.
"Hey Chris, are we on for tonight?" Her heart dropped; that was her nickname for Chrissy. No one ever called her that. To everyone, it was Chrissy that they deserved to call her. And what were they doing tonight? Chrissy just got weed two nights ago. There is no way she is out of it already.
"Oh hey Eds, yeah of course. I'll be ready at 8. " Y/N was taken back by how gorgeous Chrissy looked as she smiled, then she was reminded she was smiling at him. And Eds? So she has a nickname for him too? What was happening at 8?
"Wait, Chris, we have those movie plans, remember?" She asked, fear settling in. Did she really forget and make plans with Eddie? But she took a deep breath. It was Chrissy I'm sure she'd tell Eddie they could meet another night. She would not ditch her on a date night. She was positive.
"Oh no, I totally forgot. I'm so sorry, but we can rain check, yeah. " Chrissy said, confirmed her fears. "Eds wanted me to come to his show tonight. You can come! " She tried to save her mistake of doubling plans. Y/N noticed how Eddie's shoulders dropped at the invite; he wanted Chrissy there alone. He was into her girlfriend, and she couldn't say anything.
"Um, no, that's fine. Have fun. I'll see you tomorrow I guess. " She smiled with a big sigh and sped down the hallway.
Chrissy knew Y/N more than anyone, and that smile was fake with pain hidden behind it. "What is she so upset about?" Eddie asked out loud. "She seemed kind of jealous. Was she into you or something? " He added with a confused glint in his eyes.
"Oh please no." Chrissy was fast to throw water on the match. "She likes more edgy girls, just friends over here. I don't think she is jealous, just maybe upset that I forgot the plans. " She lied through her teeth. She felt horrible; her girlfriend was upset with her and she just let her walk away.
~~
Chrissy could sense the tension the second her girlfriend picked her up this morning. She was not welcomed with a quick kiss on the cheek or a touch on her knee as she drove to school. Chrissy guessed she was still upset with her, which she deserved.
"Are you okay?" She asked as she played with her hands in her lap. She hated the way Y/N's lips turned into the fake smile again.
"Yeah, the movie wasn't that good anyway. How was your night with Eddie? " Chrissy could hear the aggression in the way she said his name. Jealousy was teasing through the cracks. But Chrissy was also factionated on the fact that she still went to the movie.
"It was fine. Wait, you still went to the movie? Did you go alone? "
"No, I went with Robs." Chrissy hated the way a real smile finally lit up Y/N's face, but it was because of Robin Buckley, not her. A gross feeling settled in her gut. Her girlfriend went to see a romance movie with another girl.
"You just went with Robin?" Y/N looked at Chrissy with a confused look, "What's with the passive agreeable tone? Yeah, I had tickets to a movie that my girlfriend was meant to see with me, but apparently a night at a bar with Eddie Munson trying to feel her up was more important, so yes I went with Robin, so my money did not go to waste. "
Chrissy felt regret, guilt, and anger building up in her. She knew she was in the wrong, but did Y/N really need to go with Robin?
"I said I was sorry about that, and he was not trying to feel me up. And you could have waited, gotten a refund, or something. I don't see why you needed to run to Robs. " Y/N could hear the mock in her voice when she said, "Robs." Chrissy never once had a problem with Robin, so she did not understand where all this anger was coming from. If anyone deserved to be angry, it was Y/N.
"Yeah, you said you were sorry, and still chose to go with him. And please, that boy is smitten by you, worships the ground you walk on. And you made me feel like you could care less about the movie, or hell, even me, so yes, I went with a friend to get my mind off the fact that my girlfriend was on a date with someone else. " She spat as she pulled into a parking spot. Y/N was upset, but she did not want to start this morning with a fight.
"It was not a date, so do not try to make it sound like that. You are just jealous and insecure that he can show his interest in me while you can't and are taking it out on me. " Chrissy regretted it the second she said it. She knew the hardest thing for Y/N in this relationship was that she had to hold herself back when it came to PDA. "Wait honey, I didn't mean that." But it was too late; the damage was done. She pulled the trigger and had to watch the bullet sink into her lover's skin.
She hated that Y/N's eyes were filled with tears and her hands shook as she turned off the car. She quickly unbuckled and yanked her backpack from the backseat. “You're right, I am jealous and insecure. Maybe it would be best for you to be with someone who you don't have to hide with. And he's waiting for you. " And with that, she slammed her door shut and walked away from the car. Chrissy felt like shit. She could easily tell Y/N's shoulders were shaking as she was walking away. Chrissy knew she was crying. With a deep sigh and a quick wipe of her eyes, she headed out of the car.
The second she made it to the front door, a ring-filled hand grabbed her hand, making her eyes turn to meet a deep brown. "You alright?"] That seemed intense. " With that, she burst into tears, sobbing into her hands. Eddie quickly pulled her into a hug and rubbed her back, "Hey, it's okay. Let's calm down and we can talk after school, yeah? " Chrissy knew she fucked up, but she was smart enough to know that was a bad idea. "Sorry Eddie, I just need space." She pulled herself out of his arms. She could see over his shoulder that Y/N stood in the doorway with a look in her eyes that screamed "I told you so."
~~
Chrissy wasn't used to going through her school day without Y/N by her side. She felt alone and lost. In every class they shared, Y/N sat across the room. People gave them weird looks because it was very unusual for them to not be side by side. As Chrissy headed to lunch and saw Robin and Y/N sitting at a table together, Chrissy felt like she got punched in the gut. She put on a fake smile as she sat down at her usual table. "Yo, where's your sidekick?" Jason asked as he bit into his school lunch. "Oh, her and Robin needed to talk about a project." She lied fast, not like she could tell the truth that Y/N was ignoring her because they were in a relationship, and Chrissy basically threw it in her girlfriend's face that she was insecure.
"Sure, a project. I bet $10 by the end of the year, they'll get together. " Chrissy felt her stomach turn as she looked over to Beth, a cheerleader on her team.
"Why would you say that?" Chrissy squeaked out. Her mind was screaming at her to keep it cool, do not give yourself away.
"They are like the only two lesbians at this school. It's bound to happen. I overheard Y/N talking to Laurie in the locker room about this beautiful girl she's been seeing and wants to ask her to prom. It's got to be about Robin. " That made her feel even more sick. Her girlfriend spent her free time gushing about her to her best friends, and she wanted to ask her to prom. And Chrissy spent her free time with Eddie. More guilt flooded through her. She was in no mood to eat anymore as she pushed it away. Looking to the side, she could see Y/N walking over. She sat up straight and acted unbothered. The group quickly greeted her. “So a little birdie told us you've got your eyes on a girl for prom. Is that Robbie over there? " Jason asked as he wiggled his eyebrows. Y/N was very surprised when Jason accepted her sexuality out of everyone in their friend group. Y/N blushed and quickly looked at Chrissy, "No, it's not Robs." She answered, staring straight into Chrissy's eyes. Chrissy feared that the table could feel the tension and chemistry between them, so she looked down at the table. Y/N kneeled next to her and whispered in her ear, "I'm still very upset with you, but why do you not want to eat? Do you need to leave? " Chrissy's heart clenched. Even when she was a bitch to her all morning, Y/N still came to check on her. Y/N knew all about Chrissy's eating disorder. She was around when Chrissy's mother would comment on her weight and take her dinner away. Y/N also packed extra snacks in her backpack to make sure Chrissy had enough to eat. Why was Chrissy fucking this up for herself?
"No, I'm fine. I'm just not hungry. " She mumbled out. She felt too guilty to look into her eyes. She stayed silent until she heard Y/N sigh and walk away. Great job, Chrissy. way to make it worse.
~~
Chrissy was waiting outside the locker room; usually Y/N would come watch her practice before she brought her home. Chrissy wasn't so sure if she even wanted to come anymore. She sighed and decided to head into the gym. As she began to stretch out, she noticed a figure in the bleachers, in Y/N's spot. She felt her heart speed up. Was it her? But when she fully looked up, disappointed and settled in, it was Eddie. She sent him a smile and a shy wave. She didn't want to seem rude, but she really didn't need him around at this point. She needed to talk with him to make sure they were on the same page with what was going on between them. She didn't realize she was staring at him the whole time until Laurie cut in, "If you keep staring at him, you're going to make it obvious you two are together." She teased, but it made Chrissy snap up straight, eyebrows pulled together, "We are not together." She quickly denied it with a shake of her head. Shit, did everyone think that? Is she the only one oblivious? Y/N was right. If everyone else thought this, no wonder she was upset.
"Girl, it's okay to date a freak. You don't have to deny it. You guys meet like every other day at his special spot, plus Jason saw you at the bar during Eddie's show. Plus, he's always staring at you like a love-sick puppy. It's really cute. You guys walk to classes together, and I saw him hugging you this morning. and kiss your head. He makes it very obvious that he's into you. You deserve to be happy. " Chrissy felt sick to her stomach. Laurie had this all wrong. They were friends, just friends. Why did she never see Eddie flirting with her? She thought he was just being friendly. She made her girlfriend sound like she was crazy, when in reality she was saying everything everyone was seeing. She felt tears well up in her eyes for a second time. She sat up and ran out the doors. She sat on the floor and hugged her knees. She fucked all of this up. She tried to blame her girlfriend for being upset over nothing, when really she had every right to be mad about her hanging with Eddie. Chrissy started the fight. She could have kept it a civil conversation, spoken like an adult, but she needed to be right, she needed to prove Y/N wrong. And now it all blew up in her face. The one thing Y/N ever wanted in their relationship was to show her off and tell the world about her. Y/N accepted it with a heavy heart, knowing that Chrissy would never want to be that way with her, and that she wanted to keep it a secret to protect herself. She sacrificed everything for her, and Chrissy isn't even making it worth it for her anymore.
Before she knew it, she felt her breathing stop, panic settling in her chest. She tried to gasp on to the world around her, but it felt like it was disappearing. She was having a damn panic attack. She felt warm hands cup her face, "Just breath." Her eyes clenched as Eddie's voice filled her ears. Being near him made it even harder to breathe. "No Eddie." She tried to push him away. She doesn't want his hands or his touch. She just wants her girlfriend. She was starting to cry harder as she couldn't breath. She was terrified she may have forgotten how to breathe. Before she knew it, a pair of cold lips pressed into hers. Everything felt frozen. Her heart stopped, her thoughts flew out of her head, and she caught air in how she gasped. She placed her hands on his shoulders to push him away, but a voice caught her attention.
"Chris? Are you o-" Y/N cut herself off at what she saw. She was sitting in the bleachers for a minute, wondering where the hell she went, when Laurie said she looked tired and ran out. Fear set in that Chrissy might have been having one of her panic attacks. But when she made it to the hallway, she did not expect to see her girlfriend tasting Eddie's lips and placing her hands on his shoulders. They quickly pulled away, and Chrissy rose to her feet. Y/N felt like her heart was being yanked out of her chest and stepped on by Chrissy's white sneakers and Eddie's dirty shoes. She fucking knew it. Chrissy sat there and acted like she was crazy, and yet she just proved she was right about everything. Without saying a word, she nodded with her lips in a thin line and walked right back into the gym.
Chrissy went to run after her when Eddie turned her back and said, "Wait, can we talk?" Chrissy was sobbing at this point, "Eddie no. Whatever you thought was happening here is not what I intended. I did not mean to lead you on. I didn't know you liked me. I'm so sorry, but there won't ever be an us. " She ran back into the gym. She was gone. She looked all around. She spotted Robin walking out. She ran over to her and grabbed her hand. Robin, please, where did she go?' Robin turned to her with a glare. "Maybe it's best to leave her alone now, Chrissy. You've hurt her enough. "
~~
It's been a week since Eddie kissed her. Y/N has been ignoring her since. Chrissy waited every day by her front door, waiting for her to pull up, but she never did. She stopped coming to practices. Chrissy performed her first ever game without seeing Y/N's hand-made signs for her in the crowd. She was miserable. Eddie hadn't talked to her since either, but she didn't care. She wanted her girlfriend back, even if she was still her girlfriend.
 Y/N felt horrible. She missed Chrissy more than anything, but knowing she betrayed her hurt more than anything. Her worst fear was confirmed. In a sick way, she understood it. Even if she did not like guys, she could not deny that Eddie was gorgeous. He was someone who could take her out on dates in public, not have to hide in corner booths. He could kiss her whenever he wanted, not having to hide in the dark. He could love her without worrying about who was watching. everything she couldn't do for Chrissy. Maybe Eddie was what Chrissy deserved and needed. Even if her parents didn't like it, they'd accept it since he was a man. Chrissy and Y/N could never be together. She sees that now. No more denying it.
~~
Chrissy was done moping around. If she wanted her girl back, she was going to get her back. And she knew just the answer.
"Robin, don't hang up. I need you to come over as soon as you can. "
That led them here. Robin and Chrissy were surrounded by markers, flowers, glitter, stickers, and posters. "Do you think she'll say yes?" Chrissy was scared that Y/N might have been over their breakup by now. It has been a month since they last talked. Y/N refused to talk to her, so she never got to explain what really happened.
"Even though you don't deserve a yes, I know she will."
~~
Chrissy was practically shaking the whole game. She was cheering as the game went on, but her eyes kept wandering over to Y/N in the stands. It hurt knowing she wasn't there for her, no sign in her hands. Just cheering as the band played, as Robin played. But she was not going to let it discourage her. She wanted nothing more than to win her back, and she was not going to stop until she did. As the final buzzer went off, and the team won the game, the cheerleaders did their final routine.
Chrissy ran to grab the microphone The announcer was using, "Excuse me." Her soft voice cut through the cheers. Everyone quieted down to look over at her.
"Congratulations on the big win!" The crows erupted in cheers. With a nod to Robin, she ran to her with a poster in her hands.
Y/N watched, confused as to why they were interacting.
"There is something I would like to ask someone very special." Chrissy's eyes finally met Y/N's for the first time in a month. Nerves filled her, but she had to pull through to win her back.
"I've been too scared to accept who I really am and I hurt someone special to me. Y/N and I aren't just best friends, we are in love. " The crowd went silent. Y/N blushed as all the eyes looked at her and at Chrissy and back. She gave Chrissy an encouraging smile.
"Y/N, I was an idiot, and made you feel like you didn't matter, but you do. You mean more to me than anything. more than my stupid parents' perfect imagination, more than this cheerleading team, and more than him. He kissed me, I was going to pull away when you walked in. I’m in love with you. I want to say sorry from the bottom of my heart, and ask you two questions.” She opened her poster with a big smile. Decorated in glitter, sparkles, and very Chrissy fashion, the sign stated,
"Be my girl again and my date to prom?"
Y/N couldn't wipe the smile off of her face. She had tears in her eyes and nodded as fast as she could. The crowd erupted in cheers. Jason began to chant "Kiss, Kiss, Kiss." The crowd quickly followed suit. Y/N walked up to her and wrapped her arm around Chrissy and dipped her straight back. Giggles passed their lips and they sealed it with a kiss. Maybe Y/N deserved the girl in the end.
“I’m not really sure I’m the right girl for this.” Nervous smiles, tugging at the ends of her sweater, a blonde ponytail bouncing with every turn of her head, scanning the room. “‘M not a big punk rock kinda girl.”
“Good thing it’s metal then, right?” Eddie grinned, knee bouncing on the wooden stool. “C’mon, they’re not gonna mosh you or some shit. Just here to listen to music.” If only he’d known then, that’s not why Chrissy was so nervous, why she pulled and twisted the sleeves of her sweater furiously, chin ducked to her chest the entire night.
“Hey, this is really good.” You giggled, the crystal trill of your giddy tone pulling Eddie out of his daze. There was no nervous blonde in front of him- no, there was an angel sitting across from him, giving him a bright smile that he was sure was melting him to his very core.
“Is it?” Eddie’s voice cracked, wobblier than he would have liked. His knee still bounced on the wooden stool, trying to down his beer so he’d loosen up, enough to not shake so much but not too much- he couldn’t risk getting too drunk.
“Yeah.” You nodded, tipping the rim of the martini glass to your lips, your lipstick stain printed on the rim. Eddie had never been so envious of a glass.
“Really good. Excellent choice.” You praised, leaving Eddie blushing under your sweet words. “What’s this called again?”
“Uh, a casio- no cosmo.” Eddie stuttered, fingers drumming on the sticky wood of the table top. “I’ll be honest, I just asked Katrina to make somethin’ good for you.”
 “Well, my compliments to Katrina.” You giggled, sliding the glass towards Eddie. “You want a taste?”
His heart jumped, eyes focused on the lipstick stain on the rim. The thought of putting his lips where yours were, it was too much for him, sending his body into overdrive. “S-Sure,” Eddie swallowed, picking the glass up. His lips barely brushing where your lipstick was, casual enough that he hoped you wouldn’t see the tremble in his hands.
The vodka burned down his throat, singed his nose, swirling with the sweetness of the mixer. “Mm,” Eddie swallowed around the lump in his throat. “Shit, that is good.”
You grinned, hands brushing when you took your drink back, both of your chins ducking with nervous excitement. There was a pause, a dreaded fill of silent tension falling between the two of you.
Say something, Munson. Fucking say something, anything. But he couldn’t, he could barely form a thought. His mind cruelly wandered back to her, the night playing on a humiliating loop in the back of his head.
“So,” You saved him, head lolling sweetly in your hand, a little drunk, a little silly. “You know if you wanted to take me out, you didn’t have to switch shifts with Brenda.”
Eddie’s heart stopped, halted with thundering fear, body stilling. “W-What?” Eddie managed to squeeze the word through his tightening throat.
Your lips tightened in a smile, fingertips tracing over the wood table. “Brenda told me about how you took her shift.” You admitted. “That you probably did it so you could ask me out.”
Eddie’s cheeks flamed, the familiar ringing crescendoing in the back of his mind. Chrissy’s face morphing into yours, her look of horror and disgust taking over your own features. “I would never be with you, you’re a fucking freak! Do you hear me? Leave me alone! You’re a freak!”
“Sorry, I-I didn’t mean to- I just meant,” Nerves blossomed in your own veins, hands wringing under the table. “I-I meant, you didn’t have to take her shift. I woulda-” Eddie blinked, eyes still wide, rounded like he’d been caught. “I would have gone out with you anyways.”
Eddie’s body halted again, the raging screams of Chrissy, the deafening ringing in his ears, all stilled at your soft tone. “Y-You would’ve?” Eddie whispered.
“Well, yeah.” You admitted, eyes cutting sweetly up to him. “I mean, yeah, I would have. You’re always sweet, and nice, and funny, and- yeah, I would’ve gone out with you. I’m having a really good time.”
Eddie thought he might float away. His heart, his head filled with such a light, airy feeling that he’d gone positively boneless. “I-I’m having a good time too.” He ducked his head down, hoping you couldn’t see the rushing flush of red on his cheeks.
“How did you-” Eddie stopped himself, taking a breath so his mind could still. He couldn’t ramble, his ramblings got him in trouble, showed too much. “Did Brenda tell you?” Eddie’s knee bounced faster, trying to stop his hands from twirling his rings around, nervous fidgeting.
You smiled softly. “Yeah,” You nodded softly. “I mean, I brought up that we were going… out tonight. And she just kinda mentioned it.” You paused, looking down at your drink, twirling the black straw around the glass. An unsure pause filled the two of you, awkwardly floating around you in still uncertainty.
“She, uh- Brenda, she said she used to date your uncle?” You tried again, stomach flipping, filling with dread. This was a mistake, you’d hoped that cynical voice nagging in the back of your head would have been wrong.
“Yeah,” Eddie nodded, calculated breaths, deep in, deep out, trying to calm his jolted nerves. The long drink you took didn’t help, looking around at the other bar patrons awkwardly. Fuck, fuck, fuck! Munson, get your head out of your fuckin’ ass, and do this right! Planned this shit for weeks, and now you’re gonna fuck it all up.
“They dated for a while.” Eddie added, picking up his own beer. His hands shook when he lifted the bottle to his lips. “I, uh, I had just moved in with my uncle when they started dating.”
“Are they still dating?” You pressed, hoping to keep the conversation going.
“No,” Eddie shook his head lightly. “No, they broke up like years ago, but uh, she’s always been nice to me. Got me this job, so…” Eddie threw his hands out slightly, knee bouncing rapidly.
Your eyes cut away, back down to your drink, twiddling with the straw awkwardly. Eddie’s ribs were constricting in the tightness of his own chest, sure the bones were about to tear through flesh. His hands clammy, fingers swelling around the silver rings on his fingers.
“She, uh- Brenda, she was kinda like a second mom to me, after my mom,” Eddie’s throat tightened, eyes on the ring of condensation left behind by his beer. “After she passed.”
“Oh,” Your face fell, eyes rounding sympathetically- a look he’d grown so used to, but seeing it on your features didn’t leave quite the same acidic disdain in his mouth. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t know that.” Your teeth tugged on your lip.
“Yeah, it’s not- it’s fine. I mean, it was a while ago.” Eddie’s knee shook, sure he was rattling off the barstool’s laddering step. “Anyways, I went to live with my Uncle for a while a-and he was with Brenda. She’s always looking out for me.” Always, even when she shouldn’t, Eddie’s mind said what he didn’t, ringing loud in his thoughts.
“That’s good. That you have her.” You smiled softly, Eddie’s heart soared. “She’s really nice. I like working with her a lot.”
“Yeah, me too.” Eddie nodded, the tightness in his chest easing, even at the pause. “What about you?”
Your eyes met his with an unsettling suddency, wide and urgent. Eddie’s brow raised before he could still it. “W-What?” Your stuttering squeak piqued his interests, sending him soaring into bouts of curiosity.
“I mean, what about your family? Back home?” Eddie’s tone was level, an uneasy kind of calmness that left you consumed with vulnerability.
“O-Oh,” Your hands twisted under the table, picking the black polish that smudged over your cuticles. “It’s not much, honestly.”
Eddie nodded slowly, eyes scanning your features. The way you swallowed anxiously, chewing the inside of your lip. “Fucked up home life?” Eddie grinned playfully. Your eyes lifted back to him. “Sorry, that was- I’m just saying, I get it. You don’t have to tell me, but if you ever wanted someone to talk to, it doesn’t get more dysfunctionally fucked than the Munson’s.”
“No, it’s not that.” You shook your head gently. “No, I’m- I was really close with my family. I just, I don’t get to see them much now anymore.”
Eddie swallowed his words, the urge to jump and demand to know more, to scare you with his prying. He couldn’t do that, not again. Girls didn’t like that, he’d learned that.
Instead he stayed silent, watching you fidget around. “I-I moved when I was eighteen.” Your eyes stayed on the table. “I, uh, I moved with my… They didn’t want me to leave. They wanted me to stay and go to college. My dad really wanted me too, and-and when I didn’t… We just kinda lost contact?” The words tumbled out of you, lungs squeezing them out, wringing them from your chest like a soapy rag.
“I used to talk to my mom a lot, but… I don’t know. It got kinda weird, ya know?” Your own knee bounced now, eyes rounding to his, in a face that was all too familiar.
“My mom, she was just really hard on me. I-I don’t think she meant to be, but…” Visions of Chrissy’s same troubled face meshed with yours, her words ringing like sirens in his mind.
“Yeah, no, I get that.” Eddie swallowed, blinking hard to get her face off of yours. Insulting, Munson, comparing her to you.
“So, you don’t talk to them much anymore?” Eddie pressed.
Your head shook. “No, I-I mean I’m sure they would if I would call.” Your heart drummed in your ears. “T-They don’t know how to reach me, so… I’d have to call them, a-and it’s just a mess.”
Eddie’s spine tingled, icy pricklings of curiosity. Your parents didn’t know? Didn’t know you moved all alone? You said you were close, had pictures of them in your bedroom, but why? What weren’t you telling him?
Eddie didn’t pry, simply nodding, grabbing his beer. “No, I get that.” He nodded. “I get the messy thing.” You lifted your own drink, gulping down the rest of it, wincing at the burn of vodka down your throat.
Silence fell over the two of you again, a lingering awkwardness in the air that had Eddie’s stomach turning.
Tumblr media
Whoever called alcohol liquid courage, might’ve been a genius; Eddie had decided that. Three beers in, his hand was on your waist, head banging and rocking with you in the middle of the crowd. Surprisingly full and packed tonight, Eddie was thankful, it broke up some of the uncomfortableness. It only took your two more drinks to fully loosen up, teetering on tipsy and breaking open a new side of you to Eddie that he was enthralled with.
Giggly and sweet and chatty and so touchy. You’d grabbed his hand, pulled him into the crowd, shoulders brushing and wiggling through the others to get near the front.
“They’re really good!” You screamed over the roar of the music, turning towards Eddie.
“Yeah?” Eddie yelled back, his hand still ghosting over your waist, the band of your jeans. “You like it?”
“Yeah!” You giggled, lips spreading in a wide smile. “I-I’m having a really good time!”
Eddie’s heart skipped, maybe stopped all together. He was thankful for the dim lighting, that his blush was hidden by it. “Me too.” Eddie’s voice cracked. “I-I’m having a really good time, too.”
You smiled, arms thrown around his neck in a sloppy, silly way that had his knees tightening, weakened under your smile. Your eyes flickering down to his lips, teeth catching and rolling your own. Eddie was sure you could feel his heart thundering through his veins, his own hands gripping your waist rigidly.
You were teasing him, playful, but agonizing. Head swaying in then back, closer and closer to him. Noses nearly touching, an almost brush that had Eddie’s blood rushing to his cock. Tongue running over his own lips, his head inched closer to yours, your lips barely brushing his.
“Eddie?” His body ran still, rigid at the voice.
“Eddie Munson?” Your lips fell in a pout, arms slacking around Eddie, slipping off his frame. Brows furrowed at the blonde in front of you, though she wasn’t interested in looking at you, eyes in a nearly challenging glare at Eddie.
“H-Hey, Tammy.” Eddie’s hands slid down your waist, shoulder moving in front of you. “What are you doing here?”
Tammy’s lips twitched in a fake smile that came off more like a snarl. “Jason knows the drummer. Plus, it’s half on buckets during the show.” Her eyes scowled over his frame. “I haven’t seen you in a while.”
Eddie’s heart stopped, a clammy chill blanketing his skin. “Yeah, hey, it was good to see yo-”
“-I haven’t seen you since you showed up at Chrissy’s place.” Tammy sneered.
You blinked, brows furrowed, trying to lean in to hear the conversation. Eddie’s body tilted, trying to shield you out of the way.
“Yeah,” Eddie nodded, taking a slow inhale to calm his racing mind, spiraling at the memory of her, Tammy’s words, you behind him. The trilling ring made its way back into his ears, vision spotting with a black vinaigrette.
“So how is Chrissy?” Tammy’s eyes slanted in a predatory challenging glare.
Eddie swallowed, fists balling beside him. “I don’t know, Tammy.” He sneered through his own gritted teeth. “She dumped me. I’m sure you know that-”
“-Yeah, I heard that.” Tammy scoffed. “But what I think is so strange, is right after she packs up and leaves? To go stay with her aunt?”
“I’m sure her parents made her go to college up there. That’s all they wanted for her anyways.” Eddie snapped, much more territorial than he meant it to. Your heart dropped at his tone, the anger in his eyes, jaw clenched. Taking a step back, you moved back into the crowd, chest tightening, desperate for air.
Eddie’s eyes cut to you, stepping towards you. Tammy sidestepped in his way, blocking him. “Cut the bullshit, Munson. I know you did something to her.”
“What?” Eddie snapped. “Can you leave me-”
“-No. She moves and doesn’t tell anyone? You expect me to believe that? Buy that bullshit?”
“Maybe she didn’t like you, Tammy.” Eddie barked, eyes blown with a crazed anger that had her flinching. “Maybe you two weren’t as fucking close as you thought? Huh?” Eddie took a step towards her.
“And before you start accusin’ me of shit, why don’t you fuckin’ think about what you’re saying. You think her parents wouldn’t have called the police, led a fucking man hunt if she disappeared or something? Huh?” Eddie spat, heat creeping in a flush up his neck. His eyes cut to you, scampering towards the table, fumbling with your coat.
Eddie’s heart lurched, turning back to Tammy. Ears ringing, seeing red- red all over her, splotchy on his vision. Her eyes wide in fear she tried to hide, rigid and cowering in the crowd over his looming figure. “Thought you were supposed to be smart. Valedictorian or whatever.” Eddie sneered in a scoff, stomping away from her.
He tore through the crowds, uncaring of the huffs of anger or annoyance from the others. Tunnel visioned in a determined glare, set on you. You, spine stiff, stuttering steps towards the exit.
Ruined. Ruined, it’s fucking ruined. Fucking Tammy, ruined everything. Everything you worked for, Munson. It’s over. Done. Again.
“Hey,” Eddie took a bounding step towards you, heart hammering in his chest. Your shoulders tensed, not turning back. “Hey, where’re you going?” He tried to keep his voice light, void of the frantic tightness he was feeling in his chest. His hand touched your shoulder, pulling away when you flinched away.
Your eyes were blown, meeting his with a look of positive terror. Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.
“Sorry about that. She- We went to high school, and-and she was friends with my ex, a-and- Are you ok?” Eddie’s brows creased, cutting down to your trembling hands, shaking even in the tight knuckled grip around your jacket.
“I-I I need to go outside.” You stammered, chest constricting your airways. “I just, I-I need some air.”
“Ok. Let me grab my jacket and-”
“-That’s alright.” You said quickly. “I just- I-I’m sorry.” Your chin ducked to your chest, you tore through the crowded tables, the gathering at the bar towards the exit.
“Shit,” Eddie hissed, turning back to the high top you’d been sitting at, his leather jacket still on the back of the chair. He dashed towards the table, running through the bar, uncaring of the bouncer’s booming warnings, pushing out the doors.
The parking lot was empty, no sight of you on the wall, next to the other smokers, or by his van. Eddie’s hands went to his hair, fists balling around the hair there. “Shit, shit, shit.” She’s gone. You scared another one away, Munson. No, I-I can’t. It can’t end like this. I won’t let it. I could go to her house, I-I’ll go to her house- And do what? Break in. How’d that work the last time, you fucking idiot-
“Hey, man,” A bartender wearing the Hideout’s black tee called, smoke spilling out of his mouth with the words. “You lookin’ for a girl? She ran out here cryin.”
Eddie’s heart leapt, nodding furiously. “Yeah, yeah, did you see her? Where’d she go?”
The man nodded around the corner. “I asked her if she was alright, but… She seemed real upset. Didn’t want to make it worse.” His eyes rolled over Eddie’s figure. “You might wanna go check on her.”
“I will. Thank you. Thank you.” Eddie’s legs felt like jelly, numb with every bounding step on the graveled pavement. He rounded the corner of the building, hearing you before he could see you.
A shaky exhale, ghosting with the hint of a cry. He found you, back against the brick, sitting on the grass, head tilting up high, shoulders fighting the shake of a cry with every long inhale and deep exhale you took.
Eddie stilled. He had to be careful, only one chance, one shot to fix this.
“Hey,” Eddie said, wincing at how you jumped, eyes shooting open. “Hey, no, I-I didn’t mean to scare you. I-I was just coming to check on you.”
Your eyes shone, lip wobbling with a cry. “I-I’m sorry.” You croaked, chest rising and falling rapidly.
Eddie paused. Sorry? He had expected you to scream, to try and run, call him a freak like Chrissy had. Anything but sorry.
“I-I’m sorry-y. I-I didn’t-” You gasped for a strangled breath. “I-I’m fine-”
“-Hey,” Eddie crouched towards you, knees sinking in the cool grass beside you. “Are you ok? What’s going on?”
Tears leaked down the corner of your eyes when you squeezed them shut, head shaking. “I-I’m sorry. I-I’m so s-sorry.” You sniffled, a broken, breathy cry tearing from your chest.
“You don’t need to be sorry. Hey, c’mon, you-you gotta relax ok. Breathe? Can you- Can you breathe?” Eddie’s hand found your shoulder gently, rubbing the soft material of your shirt. “Just try to relax. Deep breaths, in. Innnn… Yeah, then outttt.”
You followed his breaths, shoulders still shuddering under his touch even as your cries calmed, aftershocks of emotion he wasn’t sure where it came from.
Eddie waited, watched you carefully until your eyes met his, sheepish and a little embarrassed, glassy from tears and the liquor you’d had. “You alright?” Eddie asked carefully, cringing at the way your shoulders tensed. “I’m sorry, I-I didn’t mean for her to upset you.”
You continued to breathe, eyes closing in controlled, timed breaths. Eddie’s own heart picked up. “I-I don’t know what you heard, b-but she’s full of shit, ya know? She’s always been just… She’s never liked me. Even in high school, she used to pick on me and shit. I-I didn’t- I don’t know why she did that tonight. Probably saw me with you, a-and wanted to start shit or-or whatever.” Eddie rambled anxiously.
Your eyes met his, still rounded but less wide, lacking as much terror as they did before. “That’s why you yelled?” You asked. “That’s why you were upset?”
“Yeah, I-I mean, yeah.” Eddie watched you carefully, studying every tiny quip in your features. “I-I shouldn’t have. I-I don’t normally get pissed like that, but… I don’t know. I just felt like I was back in high school, ya know?” Eddie sat next to you, his own head leaning against the brick.
“Felt like they were just picking on the freak again because they can. Thought we’d leave that shit in highschool but… I don’t know. They never do.” Eddie sighed slowly, shoulders slumping next to yours.
“I don’t… I don’t usually lose my shit like that. I try not to even give them a reaction, it’s just… My ex, she-she was friends with them. Popular and all that, and when we started dating, they’d just- they were so mean. They’d say stuff and-and she’d get embarrassed of-of me.” Eddie turned towards you, eyes soft, shining with a vulnerability that made your heart ache.
“She never wanted people to know. Never wanted to be seen with me because they’d say mean shit like that. And I’d let them, I’d try to ignore it for her, but she… She couldn’t ignore it.” Eddie muttered. “She gave in. Broke up with me and started telling them all this crazy shit. Trying to cover up that… I don’t know- that we were actually together? That she wanted to date me. Easier to blame the freak than tell people we were together, I guess.”
Your eyes met his, hesitantly. “I-I’m sorry.” You whispered, voice cracking. “That’s… That’s really mean.”
Eddie shrugged. “Yeah, well, I’m used to it.” He muttered, looking down at the small patch of grass between the two of you. “Well, I guess I’m not as used to it as I thought I was.” Eddie muttered, eyes lifting to yours sheepishly. “I’m sorry. I-I didn’t mean to cause a scene. To scare you. I-I would never-”
“- No, I-I know.” You shook your head lightly. “I’m just… I get weird.” Your own chin ducked towards the ground. “I get weird with fighting and stuff.”
Eddie stilled, watching you twist a blade of grass between your hands. “Guess we have the ex thing in common, too.” You muttered. “My ex-boyfriend… He’d get really mean sometimes. Just really angry.”
I’ll kill him. Eddie swallowed down the threat- no, the promise. Swallowing back his fierce anger.
“He-He never, like, hit me or anything, you know? It was weird, because there wasn’t any physical evidence or anything. I couldn’t go to the police for him yelling at me, but it just- it still really hurt.” Your voice cracked, lip wobbling at the memories. “That’s why I don’t talk to my parents. I moved with him, ignored them because they told me not to, and then… They were right, I guess. Just can’t really bring myself to call them and tell them that. Tuck my tail between my legs and go back. So I came here.”
“I’m sorry.” Eddie whispered. Your eyes met his. “No, I-I’m sorry, that’s- I’m sorry.” Eddie said sincerely, his hand brushing over yours.
“It’s okay-”
“-It’s not, and… And I’m really sorry.” Eddie nodded gently. “I didn’t mean to yell. I shouldn’t have let her get to me-”
“-No, Eddie, i-it’s fine, really-”
“-I didn’t mean to ruin our date. End the night like this.” Eddie ran a hand down his face. “This is not- I’m sorry, I didn’t know it would end just fucked like this.”
You paused for a moment, head still spinning with the liquor, with emotion, dizzily. You’d blame it on that, credit that dizziness for your courage. “It doesn’t have to end like this.” You whispered.
Eddie stilled, eyes cutting to you carefully. You still toyed with the grass, eyes lifting sweetly to him. “We… We could go back to my place? I-I think I still have a movie I haven’t returned.”
Eddie’s wheels squealed when they pulled out of the Hideout’s parking lot, desperately back to your apartment.
Tumblr media
Eddie was sure he was dreaming. Sitting on your couch, your apartment smelled just like he remembered, even better when you lit the candle on your coffee table, making a mental note of the name. He’d go buy it in bulk tomorrow, fill his apartment with them burning in every room just so he could feel closer to you.
You’d moved into his lap halfway through the movie, inching closer with every passing frame of Julia Roberts and Patrick Bergine until you straddled him. Eddie burned under your gaze, your hands back on his shoulders, sliding slowly towards his neck.
“Hi,” You whispered, tilting your head gently to the side, lip rolling beneath your teeth.
“Hi,” Eddie croaked, swallowing the thick lump in his throat.
“Is it ok if I do this?” You whispered, the glow of the TV illuminating your mussed hair. Eddie thought it looked like a halo, angelic above him.
“Yeah,” Eddie nodded dumbly. C’mon, get your shit together. You’ve almost got it, Munson.
His hands slid over your hips, setting on the small of your waist, where the band of your jeans hugged, squeezing the flesh gently, feeling you beneath his hands. You were really here, he was really here, with you. Living proof, right between his fingertips that this was no dream.
You leaned forward, a hand brushing back his curly bangs. “What’s this?” You muttered, fingertip ghosting over the jagged scar across his forehead.
“Bike wreck of seventy-six.” Eddie answered cooly, voice raspy and low in the dim light of your apartment. “Thought I could pop a wheelie on concrete. Didn’t go well.”
“Hm,” You sighed, lips twitching in a small grin. “You were a little dare devil, hm?”
“Yeah,” Eddie nodded. His hands slid down your waist, hoping you couldn’t feel his heart hammering. “Still can be, sometimes.” His lashes batted up at you, squeezing the fatty flesh of your ass.
You squealed, Eddie’s heart leapt- he’d made the right move. Your eyes caught his, pinning him with your gaze, a delicacy of anticipation fell between the two of you. Who would break it? Make the first move?
Eddie’s fingers pressed into your jeans, a hand sliding up your back, pressing to the middle of your spine, bowing you forward toward him. Your hand on his neck, fingers splaying out over his jaw, lips connecting in a sweet kiss. Eddie felt like he was melting, a warm, gooey puddle underneath you.
Hands grabbing at the other, fevered and desperate, your hips rocking with his, brushing over his tenting zipper. Eddie could taste the wine on your lips, the glass of reisling you’d poured for the two of you before you’d put in the movie. “Since I killed the buzz before,” You’d shrugged at him sheepishly. He assured you, you hadn’t, still he was thankful for it, especially now. Now that he was loosened, far less critical of his every move.
Fumbling hands that pulled at his t-shirt, your jeans, Eddie flipping you over on the couch, hovering over you on the faded floral pattern of the couch. “You- We don’t have to, if you don’t want to.” Eddie whispered, his hands still toying with the button of your jeans. “I don’t want you to think I-I, like, only wanted this. I don’t- I mean, I do, I just… I want you in other ways too.”
You blushed, a sheepish smile under him. It was your turn to melt, to turn to putty under his gaze. “I know.” You whispered, black painted nails scratching down his forearms, over the etching of the puppet master. “I want to do this.” Your eyes lifted to his. “I trust you. I want to do this with you.”
It was exactly what he wanted to hear, you knew that, the darkened grin on his face confirmed it further. Your own hands fumbling with your jeans, wiggling them down your thighs while Eddie tore his t-shirt off above you, flinging it onto the floor.
You’d gone for a lacy, high cut thong tonight. Pale pink, frilly, if Eddie didn’t know any better, he’d think you planned this. That you planned to sleep with him. Maybe you thought about him the way he did you. Pictures of you flooded his mind, your hand sneaking between your thighs in the middle of the night, whimpering out his name.
You didn’t expect Eddie to drop to his knees, pulling your body towards the end of the couch, thighs on his shoulders. He made a show of taking off your panties, a slow tug dragging them down your bare legs.
“Holy shit,” Eddie rasped, heart beating in his ears. You giggled nervously, pressing your hands over your eyes. “Look at you.”
“Stop.” You whined in playful embarrassment, thighs pressing together.
“No, it’s- fuck.” Eddie swallowed his words, swallowed down the urge to tell you it was better than he imagined. Don’t be creepy, Munson.
“I gotta have a taste. Can-Can I have a taste?” Eddie’s eyes rounded towards yours, bright with excitement. “That alright with you? Let me make you feel good? Have a little taste?”
Your body burned, with lust maybe excitement, you weren’t sure. Your tiny nod was all he needed, spreading your thighs open, settling between your legs. You pushed up on your arms, looking down the valley of your sternum towards him.
Plush lips pressing kisses to your thighs, a teasing kiss to your mound that had you whimpering, aching and pulsing between the legs. Eddie’s eyes stayed on yours as he licked a long, slow stripe through your slit. Better than he imagined, so much fucking better.
Eyes rolling back, his fingertips dug into your thighs, nose pressed to your slick, he wanted to suffocate himself in your cunt. Better than anything he’d ever tasted before, he was a man starved, determined to devour you entirely- you were convinced he might. Teetering on the edge of experienced and enamored, your back arched, body twisting under his tongue. Whines and cries of pleasure filled the air, a crescendoing melody to the triumphant symphony Eddie was feeling in his veins, rushing with red hot pride.
It was paradise, better than his wildest dreams.
When you took him in your own mouth, sweetly grinning at him before giving a kitten lick to his leaking head, he was sure nothing would be better than this. This was his peak, everything he’d ever wanted and more. Better than Chrissy, than Tabitha, than anyone.
You brought him to your room, let him press your thighs back, spread you open again. He couldn’t help the cry of pleasure that spilled out when he slid into you, it just felt so right. Beyond pleasure, though it was plenty pleasurable, it felt flawless, ethereal.
Better than anything he could have imagined when he saw you weeks ago from his van, your car packed up full of boxes and suitcases tied on top. In a tiny pair of cut off shorts, moving everything in the warm sunshine.
How was he to know that all those weeks ago, after he’d watched you apply for jobs at the diners and boutiques, that when he’d put a help wanted flier on your door for Turtle’s, that it would lead to this. His mind could have never dreamt this, that you’d be this perfect, fit so perfectly with him.
No, this was fate, Eddie was sure of it. Cosmic fate. Chrissy and the others, they were only parading as the real thing, he’d just convinced himself it was when it was merely a disguise. But you, you were the real deal. Eddie decided it, when he settled in the sheets next to you, arms around your frame, staring out the window of your room.
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
September 1985
Chrissy Cunningham was always perfect. And it was even more annoying because she was pretty, popular and nice to everyone she made eye contact with. That is also why you had been best friends since junior high when you both joined the dance team. When high school hit, she projected herself into the popular group by revolving your high school experience around cheerleading and the popular girls, where you happily sacrificed some of your valuable reputation to pursue both cheer and drama club. Chrissy was always there even though you were seen as less desirable as the other girls on the team. Even if she was in the back row, she would always be at your productions and would happily cheer you on.
Although she was your best friend, she scared you a lot. She was on the path to a scholarship to her dream school, to getting scooped up by some picture perfect person and getting married and having her dream job. She would stay hot and pretty and perfect forever and as you were approaching graduation, you often worried about what was next for you - terrified of peaking in high school and amounting to nothing. Worried about not finding your own group of people, your own scholarship, and your own path laid out neatly like Chrissy’s was.
Eddie Munson, however,  was the opposite of perfect. If Chrissy was a sparkling smooth personality, Eddie was a jagged edge that very few people appreciated. He was a repeat senior who dealt drugs to all of Hawkins’ youth and  was unapologetically apathetic to the restraints that were supposedly placed on the senior class of ‘86. So when he happily worked sound for the drama club in exchange for free rentals for his DND club, many drama kids turned their noses up at him; except for you. You happily sat next to him at your first drama club meeting. There was something magnetic about him. From that first time you met him, you were determined to get to know him better. Your intuitions told you that he was going to be more than a background character in your own story.
Tumblr media
Two friends from opposite circles, opposite ends of the spectrum. As you and Chrissy left the gym fussing over new uniforms and team drama, Eddie was on the other side of the school picking his lunch kit out of the garbage, nursing a new black eye; and a freshman on his left pacing a rut into the hallway.
“Last time I stick up for you, Henderson. I swear to god…you’re lucky I have extra shirts in the drama storage.” The metalhead mumbled. His dark curls pulled back into a low bun as he dug further into the garbage can.
“How was I supposed to know that it was Jason behind me? I didn’t mean to fall into him!” Dustin pouted. Eddie had picked him off the floor after Jason Carver had poured his gatorade down his Hellfire shirt. Eddie would never admit it, but as much as he loved his precious club, he cared for his freshmen recruits more. Jason, being the captain of the basketball team, and therefore the resident asshole, gave Eddie the shiner for his troubles, and threw his stuff in the garbage as an extra favor. You rounded the corner with Chrissy as you saw the two boys, both looking worse for wear.
“Hey Ed - Oh my god your face!” You gasped as he turned around after finally fishing his lunch kit out of the trash.
“You should see the other guy” Eddie chuckled, and winced
“What other guy?” When he does not respond to your question you turn to the freshman who looks like he has seen a ghost.
“J-Jason Carver. Eddie was just trying to save my ass.” Dustin squeaked, his eyes glued to his sneakers.
“Come with me”. You grab his hand and lead him to the girls locker room. Chrissy hot on your trails.
After investigating to ensure no one else was in the changeroom, you lock the door and sit Eddie down on a bench while you enter the small infirmary to retrieve the first aid kit. Chrissy keeps her distance, but sits down beside him and flashes him a polite smile. Eddie feels a pang in his heart as he feels his cheeks start to burn red. Chrissy lets out a small giggle.
“That’s really brave what you did for that kid” Chrissy praised.
“Ahh, there is no way Henderson would be able to take on that meathead. I gotta take care of my minions.”
Chrissy laughs again, almost too loud. As you pace back to the two of them, you feel like an intruder. You clear your throat and both of them look away, blushing furiously. You take a long sigh as you open the first aid kit to find the ice pack and a bandaid for the small cut that has formed on Eddie’s cheekbone. He winces while you stick the bandaid on and you gently place the ice pack over his eye. His brown eyes glued to Chrissy’s as you tended to him. Once you finished, you cleaned up and the three of you returned to the bustling hallways of Hawkins High.
“Thanks for the help sweetheart. I just wish this was a spiderman bandage or something.” Sweetheart.
“Don’t sweat it Eddie. I’ll see you in rehearsal later” you smiled. Chrissy eyed Eddie up and down as you said your goodbyes and Eddie turned around to go to his next class.
“I never realized how much of a charmer Eddie Munson is,” Chrissy pondered. You felt a pit in your stomach. As much as you loved Chrissy, Eddie was your friend first. So many of your teammates had put Chrissy as a priority over you, and you always felt like a drifter between drama and cheer - seeing as you felt you didn’t totally feel like you belonged in either.. Eddie was finally a person that you thought was yours, something that Chrissy couldn’t influence, someone that finally didn’t care about your background or where you fit on the food chain. But, lo and behold, it seems that everyone falls under the high school spell and everything always seems to be too good to be true for you.
“Yeah, he’s a cool guy I guess. He does the sound for the drama club apparently he’s got a knack for music. Walked into him playing some Black Sabbath on the guitar in the drama room.” You tried to retort calmly, but your hands were trembling.
“Black Sabb -?Hmph. I think that is going to give me yet another reason to go to the drama room… Since he seems to be good with his hands” Chrissy giggled and intertwined her arm with yours, leading you to your shared math class.
“Chris, please don’t just play with this one, I do really like him. I think he could be a really good friend.” Friend.
“That’s totally fine! Nothing’s gonna happen. I guess I just realized how cute he was…Maybe I should ask him to come watch us at the next game, or hang out…afterwards” Chrissy winks at you
“You’d be better off setting up a deal with him” you poke. She giggles as you both take your seats.
You could barely focus in math, mind racing about how much Chrissy and Eddie bothered you. Was it really just the idea of him and Chrissy being better friends than you? Or were you jealous? That’s ridiculous because you liked Eddie as a friend. Just a friend. Chrissy could go out with Eddie all she wants. You aren’t the boss of her - or him for that matter. Then why are you stuck on the way your heart fluttered when he called you sweetheart? Why were you constantly seeking him out in the hallways?
No. It can’t be. You’re just friends.
October 1985
Your body was radiating with anxiety during afternoon rehearsals.The pit in your stomach had grown to a full ache in your chest whenever you heard Chrissy talk about Eddie. The more you taked with him, the more you wanted to reach out and touch him, to hug him and tell him that he was the greatest, most interesting person you had ever met. But again, everything seems way too good to be true because every time you hung out with Eddie, Chrissy seemed to make her way into conversation.
 Eddie was teaching a freshman how to use the new sound board and you could barely get out your lines. All you could think about is Eddie and Chrissy in the locker room. Your performances were so uninspired that Mr. Taylor ended your scene rehearsals early. Your scene partner Eric gave you an apologetic pat as you both reunited with the rest of the drama club. Eddie sauntered up behind you and wrapped his arms around your shoulders.
“How’s it going superstar?” He leaned his chin on the top of your head.
“Hey Eddie. I’m okay, trouble focusing today. I’m totally flubbing today.”
“Hey, so I had a question for you… about Chrissy”. You tensed up and broke away from him. You turned to face him but could not look him in the eyes.
“Umm, yeah what’s up?” There comes that ache you knew all too well. You could see it happening now, him finally choosing her over you.
“Is she single? What’s the deal? Is she dating any basket boys I should be worried about?” He poked at you nervously. You tried to let a laugh escape to ease the tension but all that came out was an exasperated wince.
“No, she’s single.. Do what you want Ed.” you mumbled. You could feel the tears threatening to well up. You brush past him and pick up your bag to head to the gym. Eddie’s eyes follow you out, but he couldn’t bring himself to go after you. What was your deal?
You trudged off the field after an exasperating practice after an exhausting rehearsal. You were so excited to leave this day in the past, grab some junk from the supermarket with Chrissy and hunker in for an evening of studying. In the locker room, Sarah and Tiffany giggle and look at you and Chrissy.
“Hey Chris, we were wondering if you wanted to come to the mall with us right now. We were going to pick up some outfits for Halloween!” Tiffany briefly meets your gaze and looks back to Chrissy.
“Yeah sure!” the blonde chirped “We would love to! Y/N and I were just going to-”
“Oh, well we only have room for one..” Sarah sneered. Chrissy looks at you with her beautiful brows furrowed into a perfect pout. You knew she wanted to go with them. You felt bad for making Chrissy sacrifice her social standing to hang out with you. You knew she wanted to go, but would never tell you. You decided to take the fall for her… the undesired yet again.
“Yeah, that’s fine, I got lots of homework to do anyways” you brushed off. “I’ll call you later Chris.”
“I’ll come over after!” Chrissy lazily offered as you packed your bag up and left the locker room.
You left with holes in your heart. All you wanted was your people to stay yours. You didn’t understand why that was so difficult.
Tumblr media
The shrill ring of your landline woke you from your desk - having fallen asleep while finishing homework. You flopped onto your bed and picked up the phone.
“Hello?” You yawned.
“Babe, I have to tell you about my evening!!” Chrissy squealed, she barely let you greet her.
“Oh, you mean the evening you were supposed to spend with me studying?” you jabbed. You felt bad for taking your insecurities out on Chrissy, but you couldn’t help it.
“Oh come on now. This will make up for it.”
“Alright get on with it then.” You rolled your eyes and rolled on to your back.
“So you will never believe who me, Tiffany and Sarah ran into at the mall!”
“Ummm… John Cusak” You joked dryly.
“No you silly! Eddie!” Chrissy yelped. “And do I have news for you!!”
You jolted up and immediately gave the call your full attention. This could not end well - either for Eddie or you.
“Sarah and Tiffany let you talk to Eddie in public?” you snorted. The insecurity seeping through the receiver.
“Well, kind of. We joked that the party next week would be best with something other than just the alcohol if you know what I mean” you could practically hear Chrissy’s eyebrows wagging. “So they dared me to go set up a deal with him… and I could see him practically drooling over me! I think he might like me, babe. And I think that I really like the fact that he does” she giggles maliciously. Attention. As kind and beautiful as Chrissy was, she was used to the attention, she thrived off of it. It worried you, the fact that there were hordes of guys that had been left in her wake so she could have an ego boost or something to do on a Friday night.
“Chris, are you sure that’s, like, a good idea? What if you really hurt him?”
“Oh come on, Y/N, its just a bit of fun. Nothing serious! So anyways, I went over to his trailer about an hour ago and he asked for my number! Ugh!” Your excitement wasn’t reciprocated like Chrissy had hoped. Her squeals being the only ones that echoed between the two of you.
“What’s wrong? Why aren’t you excited?” Chrissy questioned.
“I just - you’re both my friends, I just don’t want anyone getting hurt.”
“Ugh you worry way too much. It’s just some harmless fun! Loosen up, maybe then you could get some dates yourself!” she chided. You knew she was joking but it was the last blow to your breaking heart “ Anyways, I gotta get off the line just in case he tries to call! Love you!” with that you hear a click and the dead line. You sigh as you put your phone back on the receiver and flop back down onto your pillows.
Tumblr media
You always hated halloween. It was an excuse for anyone your age to dress up in some sort of sexy reiteration of some sort of animal or cartoon character and to get sloppy drunk in someone’s trashed house, unbeknownst to their absent parents. That is exactly where you found yourself; Chrissy on one side of the couch, Tiffany on the other, you smooshed in the middle (as per Chrissy’s request)  and half of the basketball and cheer team sat in a messy circle on the floor. How you got yourself roped into spin the bottle, you would never know, but your makeshift devil horns were giving you a headache and as much as you loathed blacking out in random people’s houses, you were nursing your fourth drink of the night (and were definitely feeling the buzz). Between the noise of people talking over each other, the blaring music, and Chrissy constantly blabbing about how much time she and Eddie have been spending together, you felt like your brain was going to explode. The only option that you really saw for the evening was to forget all about it like half of the Hawkins High population at the party.
Jason grabbed the empty bottle in the middle of the circle and spun it with vigor. Everyone waited in anticipation to see who would be the lucky girl to get to kiss the king of Hawkins high. The room fell hushed as you looked at the bottle, which was pointing directly at you. You immediately felt like you were going to throw up. Since that day in the hallway with Eddie, you always held some animosity for Jason. The last thing you wanted to do was kiss the guy who went after one of your other best friends. Jason chuckled and elbowed his minions on either side of him, all of them snickering deviously. He stood from his spot and stalked across the circle towards you. You chuckled nervously and went to get out of your spot on the couch.
“Hah, don’t mean to kill the vibe, but suddenly I don’t really feel like playing anymore.” You push yourself off the couch and go to step over some people sitting on the floor but Jason grabbed your wrist. Hard. You felt the world spinning around you, unsure if it was your sudden anxiety, or the alcohol. You could hear the faint whispers of Chrissy and Tiffany behind you, and you were suddenly aware of the 20 pairs of eyes locked on you. You tried to pull away from him with no avail.
“Come on, don’t be a prude. Let me give you the best kiss of your life, seeing as the only person you’ve boned is the freak” He pulled you into his chest and held your face in his hands. He pressed his mouth to yours, trying to weasel his tongue inside your pressed lips. You finally got the strength to push him away with a cry in disgust. You wanted to slap him but your bones now felt like jello and your feet cemented to the floor.
“She hasn’t boned the freak! She hasn’t boned anyone!” Chrissy laughed, not realizing that her retort did more harm than good. You wished the ground would swallow you whole. Finally, you muster your strength to move. You didn’t want any of these assholes to see you cry, to give them the satisfaction.
“Thanks, Chris” you whisper before running out of the room and up the stairs to the crowded living room. You were desperate for some air. Everything around you felt like it was constricting you, choking you. All you could hear was laughter and your vision felt like it was pinholing. You slide out of the front door to sit on the steps. You breathe deeply, looking around to make sure that there was no one around before you let your tears fall.
Chrissy made an attempt to go after you. After rolling her eyes and giving Tiffany a tight smile, she lifter herself off of the couch and pranced up the stairs to the rest of the party. She looked around the scatterings of people, but didn’t see you. She slid her way through the hallway into the kitchen, where her eyes found someone else she had been casually looking for all evening. She stumbled towards a mop of chocolate curls and wrapped her arms around him, hands covering his eyes.
“Guess who?” she slurred.
“Hey pretty girl.” Eddie turned to her to give her a proper embrace but quickly took a step back. “Don’t know if you want to be seen doing that to me right now” he chuckled nervously. Eddie understood what being seen with him meant and as little as he cared for his own reputation, he cared greatly for hers
. Chrissy looked him up and down and fully realized the metal head’s beauty. Pale skin kissed with dark ink, beautiful brown eyes that shone - especially when he talked to her, lean figure and crooked smile. She felt like her brain was going to short circuit.
“You’re right” Chrissy cooed. “Maybe we should go somewhere a little more private so we could talk” She took his hand and led him up the stairs to a quiet hallway full of closed doors. They rounded a corner and they sank down the wall to sit on the floor, Chrissy totally forgetting about her mission to find you and Eddie being blissfully ignorant to your conundrum.
You had collected yourself and knew there was no way you could stay at the party. As much as you loathed going back into the chaos and as angry as you were at Chrissy, you couldn’t allow yourself without letting her know that you were leaving and how angry you were. When reentered the house, the first faces you were met with were Jason and his posse of meatheads. You averted your gaze but heard their snickers anyway. You refused to give him the satisfaction or the tears, so you kept moving, keeping your eyes glued to the linoleum. The tightness of your chest multiplied with the number of rooms you checked where you did not see a perky blonde ponytail. You needed to find Chrissy; you needed to give her a piece of your mind; you needed to leave. But everything was deafening. Things were getting fuzzy.  Determined to get a grip and find your friend, you trot up to the top floor of the house, in search of a quiet place to collect yourself. You were met with a long hallway full of closed doors. You continue down the hallway, checking doors to see if you could find a bathroom. When you round the corner of the dim upstairs, your breath gets caught in your throat.  You see Eddie sitting on the floor, Chrissy in his lap, their mouths messily mashed together. Everything came tumbling down. The combination of alcohol and shock makes you wrack out a gasp of air. Both Eddie and Chrissy looked up but with very different expressions. Chrissy looked almost proud of her conquest, ignorant to the hurt you were already feeling towards her. Eddie, on the other hand, looked mortified - turning a bright red. The look of betrayal was clear across your own face as tears threatened to fall again.
“Im - I’m going to go.” you don’t wait for either of them to get up. Eddie pushes Chrissy to her feet and gets up to go after you. Chrissy grabs his arm
“Eddie, wait!”
“Chrissy, I am so incredibly sorry, but I need to go make sure she’s okay” He goes to move away from her but she stops him again and pulls him in for a chaste kiss.
“Please don’t let this be the last time we do this” she whispers into his ear and drops his hand. Eddie turns a bright pink and leaves her with a smile.
You trudge through the house, tunnel vision honing in on the front door. The urge to vomit increased tenfold. Eddie catches up to you. You hear him calling out for you but you can’t turn back. Too embarrassed and heart broken (and drunk) to be able to handle what you saw in an unfamiliar place, in front of strangers nonetheless. You swung open the front door and ran down the front steps. Eddie trudges after you, clearly upset about what you had seen. There was no way he was going to let this get between the two of you.
“Y/N Wait” He sounds desperate. You turn to him and roll your eyes.
“What? Is it not what it looks like?” you laugh dryly. “You don’t need to explain anything to me, I’m going home.” You turn to leave. You couldn’t take another person pitying you. You understood where you were on the food chain. Yet another person to think of you as second best to Chrissy.
“Sweetheart, you shouldn’t walk by yourself this late at night.” Eddie chides. The alcohol had finally given you the bravery you had been needing for the past hour.
“Don’t do that. Don’t sweetheart me when you are literally going to go back inside and suck face with my best friend. Just - go. Enjoy the rest of your night Eddie. I’ll be just fine.” The tears freely falling down your cheeks didn’t convince him. He takes a step towards you but you turn to walk away,
“Why are you so angry with me about Chrissy? I thought I didn’t need to explain anything to you, but you seem really fucking mad at me”. Eddie’s words stop you dead in your tracks. He’s angry? With you? Instead of actual vomit, the words that come out of your mouth leave uncontrollably.
“She doesn’t like you Eddie. She likes the attention. She doesn’t like you like I do. She doesn’t care about you like you deserve to be cared about. And she likes the fact that I care about you way too much. Chrissy has to have everything. I can’t have anything to myself, but yet again no one gives a shit about me, about how I feel. How much I care because as long as Chrissy is there, she will always be number one. You are just  another conquest for her and ,and she is just using you” You stand your ground, chest heaving. There is a sense of relief that you stood your ground but you immediately knew you said to much.
“E-Eddie, wair-”
“You think that I don’t know that she’s using me?”
“What?”
“Look, Y/N I am really really sorry that you care about me and I am really sorry that you feel that way about Chrissy. But I really like her. So I’m cool if she thinks that she wants to have some fun for now. I’ll let her as long as she’ll have me. Just -  please stop caring about me, sweetheart. The last thing I want to do is hurt you. I want to be your friend but, fuck -I might be in love with Chrissy. I think I have been for a long time, but just finally let myself feel it..”
You stood in shock. Your heart shattered to a million pieces. Eddie’s did too. He loved having you as a friend and he loved having you in his life, but he couldn’t imagine kissing you like he did Chrissy, taking you on dates like he wanted to with Chrissy, going to prom like he wished he would with Chrissy. Not you.
“Forget we ever had this conversation”. You turned on your heels and walked away. Hoping that Eddie would stop you and tell you that this was all a joke, that you were worth it, that you were his favorite and that he felt the same way about you. And even though being Chrissy’s friend was draining a lot of the time, you did  always have her. But everything changed in one night. This is the first night that you have ever felt completely  alone. You crossed your arms over your torso and started your walk home.
The next days and weeks went on as normal. Eddie seemingly didn’t tell Chrissy about your conversation because the phone calls never ceased. She still met you by your locker and she still intertwined her arm with yours when you walked. Eddie's gaze was aimed more at Chrissy and nights where you and Eddie normally hung out were now filled with secret rendezvous with the blonde. Although he still acted like your old Eddie, you felt a coldness from him. His smile never seemed genuinely happy and his eyes stopped glowing when he saw you. You kept quiet in efforts not to lose your only true friends at the school, but your shattered heart was refractured after every phone call you got from Chrissy, every detail you heard about their meetups or how soft his hands were or how great his kisses were.. You felt like you were crashing and burning but you kept up your facade to ensure you could salvage your fractured friendship, and every time you hung up your phone, you curled into your pillow and cried because although things were seemingly as they were supposed to be, you had never felt so out of place and isolated in your life.
Tumblr media
You were waiting for Chrissy to come over, books sprawled across your kitchen table in anticipation for your study session for your semester finals. She was over an hour late.You sighed as you pulled out your flashcards and started to review in an attempt to salvage the time you had already wasted. You were interrupted by your phone ringing.
“Hello?”
“Babe oh my god I am so sorry I am running behind but you are never going to guess what happened!!”
“What’s that Chris?”
“Eddie Asked me to be his girlfriend!!”
part two
Tumblr media
You look to the stage seated at the end of the cafeteria briefly, seeing the big banner advertising the senior prom, making your heart flutter. The Hawkins High prom was the one time of year where everyone isn’t completely miserable and they all come together, cliques having an unspoken settlement, and allowing one another to come together and celebrate one of the last big moments of high school you’d all share together, before walking the stage made on the football field and going your separate ways on new journeys. Everyone had been buzzing about it for weeks, and you thought today would finally be the day.
You smooth out the pleats in your skirt, taking deep breaths in and out as you slowly approached his lunch table. The loud ruckus of the cafeteria filled your ears as your feet brought you closer and closer to the biggest outcast of the school. Not that you saw him that way, but everyone you surrounded yourself with did.
Eddie Munson has been the object of your affection since his first senior year. His beautiful brown eyes ultimately pulled you in one day during your sophomore year, seeing how much he’d changed from his brief time with you at the middle school amazed you. You were captivated by his passionate personality and his carefree attitude towards the conformity that was forced within the walls of this high school, which you were not able to escape, roped into joining the cheer squad with your best friend and the queen of Hawkins High, Chrissy Cunningham.
The two of you met when you moved to Hawkins back in middle school. She was the first person you met when you got to the school, getting paired to sit next to her for the remainder of the year, and the two of you clicked instantly. You spent so many nights together giggling and gossiping, and it was something you continued to do throughout high school. The two of you told each other everything, especially when it came to your dating lives, or lack there of.
She was the only one who knew about your crush on Eddie. You always felt you had to keep quiet about it, especially around the other cheerleaders and football players. Their clouded judgement and resentment towards the ‘freaks’ made your heart sink, but you always opted to keep your head down and refuse to join in on their reign of terror towards them.
Chrissy convinced you to ask Eddie in the first place. You were hesitant, wanting to continue to keep your feelings towards the resident metalhead deep down, with graduation around the corner for you, and if what Eddie shouted in the cafeteria constantly, it was approaching for him as well. You didn’t see the point in revealing anything now, thinking you could just go about life without him knowing. But Chrissy was there to remind you “what do you have to lose?”
Approaching the well-known Hellfire table, you cough a little to gain the attention of the boys. They all look up at you at the same time, sharing glances with one another as confusion seeped into their faces. You flash them all a timid smile, playing with the end of your cheer skirt to relieve some nerves.
“Hi guys,” you squeak out. You watch Eddie sit at the head of the table, looking down out his bag of mini pretzels and grabbing his bright red apple, taking a big chomp out of it.
“Uh, can we help you?” A younger boy with long black hair asks, whom you recognize as Nancy Wheeler’s brother, Mike. Blood rushes to your cheeks, heat overpowering you just for a minute as they all continue to stare at you with their mouths slightly open.
“Yeah! I was uh-just wondering if I could talk with you, Eddie. Alone?” you ask, your eyes meeting his across the table as he freezes, a small sliver of pretzel hanging out of his mouth. He drops the bag to the table and looks to who you knew as Gareth, standing from his seat with wide eyes. You walk towards the corner of the cafeteria, not missing the snickers and mumbles coming from his friends.
You turn to look at Eddie, his hands resting in the pockets of his leather jacket as he finally catches up to you. His big brown eyes peer up to you, his brows raised in a questionable manner, making the nerves spread further throughout your body. Maybe this was going to be a mistake-
“Just so you know, I don’t do deals in the middle of the cafeteria, so if you’re looking for something to clear your head, you’ll have to go to the spot in the woods,” Eddie lets out.
“What? No, I’m not looking for drugs, I don’t-I don’t smoke,” you tell him, shaking your hands. Did it look like you were trying to buy? Eddie was the local dealer, so it wasn’t totally out of the question.
“Okay…” he responds, rolling his eyes as he snickers to himself. You bite your lip before letting out a deep breath. “Then what did you want?”
“Okay, so, this might sound crazy, but I wanted to know if you were going to prom?” You finally ask. Eddie’s expression falters a little, his questioned look quickly shifting into a surprised one, as if caught off guard.
“Wasn’t really planning on it. After school events that don’t consist of D&D gatherings aren’t exactly my thing,” he answers. You try hiding the hurt in your expression at his answer, his ability to write it off so quickly making your confidence shrink.
“Oh…well, maybe you’d reconsider? Like say if someone were to ask you to go with them, as their date? And hypothetically that someone…being me?”
He takes a moment to just stare at you, blinking rapidly a few times before looking around the cafeteria, making you worried, but also confused. He seemed rather off today, with his eyes barely meeting yours unless met with confusion or surprise now, and his entire demeanor even felt off.
Then, he begins to laugh.
Was he laughing at you? Or the question? Or maybe what everyone said about him was right, he was crazy.
“Yeah well like I said earlier, I don’t do prom. And I definitely don’t do cheerleaders, so associating with both at the same time isn’t in the cards for me. So just go back to your friends, okay?” His voice was almost sinister, face merely inches from yours as he whispers the blatant reject in your ear.
You take a step back from him and catch the seriousness etched across his face, looking to the floor in an attempt to hide the hurt his words caused you to feel. You bump pass him as you continue your efforts of hiding your feelings, walking towards the double doors located closest to you that bled out into the hallway, no longer having an appetite for any food.
All but running to your locker, you fling it open and make yourself small, hunching over into the metal box and covering your face as the tears begin to flow out. You should’ve never taken Chrissy’s advice and kept those feelings buried deep inside. Of course he wouldn’t like someone like you. Even if you didn’t fit in with the other cheerleaders on the squad, he still associated you with the assholes of Hawkins High, and part of you couldn’t blame him. They’ve spent years treating him like shit, and you’ve been too much of a coward to do or say anything in his defense.
What hurt worse was that Eddie and you were on good terms. The two of you shared Miss Click’s class last year, alongside Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley, two of your closest friends. Eddie would ask for your help and the two of you would talk while trying to get him through the assignments he struggled with, which launched your tiny crush into a full blown one-sided love affair. You thought maybe he saw you differently than the rest of the squad, with you and Chrissy always trying to exchange pleasantries and on friendly terms with the metalhead. But deep down, Eddie still knew all jocks were the same, it was clear in the way he spoke to you.
The lunch bell springs to life, pulling you out of your lonely pity party. You look to the mirror you kept in your locker and clean up the makeup that was running down your cheeks with a spare tissue. Taking a deep breath, you grab your books for the remainder of your classes and shut the door to your locker, turning on your heel with you head hung just a bit lower than usual, and darting your way through the crowded halls, onto the rest of the pathetic day.
You push open the doors the led to the parking lot, your peers scattered around trying to escape for the weekend, only to ultimately come back later tonight for the game. Running down the steps, you start the journey towards your car, wanting to relax for the next few hours before you and Chrissy come back for the championship game.
The school day had flown by, the cruel gods above you taking pity on your rejection during your lunch period. You hadn’t talked with Chrissy for the rest of the day, not having any classes with her after lunchtime anyways. You want to run to her so badly and tell her you shouldn’t have listened to her, but ultimately, you just wanted a shoulder to cry on and soothing words thrown your way.
As you walk towards your car at the end of the lot, you spot Eddie leaning up against his van, the flashbacks from earlier telling you to look away from his figure, but your heart and eyes just can’t seem to listen. As you keep going, you see other pair of feet with him, almost between his own. Getting a better look, you see Chrissy leaning against the van as well, her close proximity making your heart plunge deeper into the depths of your stomach.
No, she’d never be interested in Eddie like that. She was in a very serious relationship with Jason Carver, a.k.a the biggest tormentor towards your crush. Plus, she was your best friend, and new how fondly you thought of Eddie, she couldn’t possibly want to ever hurt you like that. Keeping your head down, you attempt to walk pass them, completely unnoticeable, until your ears perk up at their conversation.
“I was just wondering, if you’d want to go to prom with me?” He asks her, causing you to drop the notebook you’d been carrying in your hand. Shit.
You reach down to grab the book and look back to see them staring at you, as if they were deer caught in headlights in the dead of night. You let out a sigh and pick up the pace towards your car, unlocking the door quickly and tossing your things inside as you ignore Chrissy’s calls out for you.
“…I don’t do prom. And I definitely don’t do cheerleaders…” his words rang in your head as you start the engine, looking behind you to back up and pull out of your spot. You quickly glance their way, faces turned into sad expressions as they watch you fly by them, trying your best to exit the hell that was the high school parking lot.
A few tears began escaping once more, trickling down your cheeks as you replay the events of today on your drive home. How could Eddie be so quick to reject you, with the excuse of not liking the idea of prom or associating with cheerleaders, but completely do a 180 and ask Chrissy, the girl who everyone knew you were best friends, to the prom? Maybe when he told you his words in the lunch room, he meant specifically it was you he had no interest in. Because who can resist the queen of Hawkins High.
You continue to wallow throughout the drive home, the tightness in your chest never letting up even as you pull into the driveway of your home. Jumping out, you leave your belongs inside the car as you lock it, running to the front door and swinging it open. You had time before the game tonight to mop about as you please, so you grab a bag of popcorn and put it in the microwave, waiting patiently to start the pity party you pressed pause on at your locker, wanting to just forget silly notion of you going to prom with the man of your dreams.
July (E.M)
pairing: eddie munson x fem!reader
warning: toxic relationship, yelling, angst, breakup, eddie is a dick, eddie meltdown
summary: based off of the song ‘july’ by noah cyrus
word count: 1.1k
a/n: was in the mood to write some angst so here you go! this is kind of heavy so proceed with caution, also new theme anyone?
“I’m sorry Eddie! Just listen to me please” you plead as he continues to storm through the door of your shared apartment. He’s seeing red and your body is filled with anxiety, this is not how you imagined your birthday evening going.
“How am I supposed to listen to you when that’s all I’ve been doing this entire evening?! It’s like you didn’t even want me there” he cries as he cracks open another bottle of beer and slinks onto the couch. He had spent the better part of the evening making his usual jokes, often at your own expense and you tried to take it with a pinch of salt, but you were so tired of being the butt of the joke.
“I don’t know what you want me to say Eddie, all I’ve asked is that you stop making jokes about me like that-”
“No! what do you did was make me look like an asshole in front of your friends, I’m always the bad guy when you’re around them, even Chrissy see’s it!”
There it is. The entire fucking reason this conversation happened. Eddie was always bringing up Chrissy in your presence, how often could you hear the name of another girl leave your boyfriends mouth before you had enough? The answer? Right now.
“I’m so sick of you bringing up Chrissy whenever we argue Eddie! She is not your girlfriend! I am!” you cry shamelessly as you explode in front of him as he already looks completely over the conversation. You don’t have it in you to keep having these arguments.
“Why am I never enough for you?” your voice cracks and Eddie’s indifferent expression fades when he realises this isn’t your usual arguments, not once have you ever questioned his love for you and his heart drops to his stomach as he realises this just may be your breaking point.
“Wait, wait hold on sweetheart-”
“I don’t think I can do this anymore Eddie” you sniffle, and your hands shake as you wipe your tears. Eddie shakes his head vehemently and tries to reach out for you, but you step away from him. He’s sick to his fucking stomach. He spent most of the argument angry, so sure of himself that you were in the wrong but as of right now, he’s not so sure.
“Let’s just talk this through o-okay? Please let’s just have a conversation” he pleads as he anxiously begs you to listen to pathetic reasons before you decide to walk out on him.
“I can’t Eddie, not when I’ve spent the last 3 months lying in bed alone as you throw back beers watching tv with Chrissy on the phone.” You tell him and watch as his expression turns fearful at your impassive yet pitiful gaze at his trembling form.
 “I waited for you” your voice cracks alongside Eddie’s heart. “I waited for you to climb into bed, tell me you love me, that I was enough for you, and you never did” tears roll silently down your face and Eddie looks close to bawling.
His eyes fill with his own tears at the reality of losing you,, he’s blocked out the noise surrounding him as he purely focuses  on your fragile form, your makeup is smeared and your hands are shaking, he remembers how he used to hold you, be your sense of comfort when the anxiety took over and now he’s become the sole perpetuator of the same monster’s  he swore he’d protect you from.
“Please baby- please just let me fix this okay? Let me fix us!” he probably  looks pathetic on his knees as he tries to pull you into him, you resist but his shaking and sobbing form is enough to let you relent and place your hand on his head as you turn your face to the ceiling, willing the tears to stop.
“Do you remember what you told me when you saw Chrissy at the bar last week?” you whisper quietly to Eddie’s shaking form, he sniffles and shakes his head, looking up to you with red rimmed eyes.
“I asked to leave because I felt uncomfortable and you told me to go, said you’d meet me at home” you chuckle bitterly. Every single comment Eddie had made to you in the last 3 months almost came bubbling out of you, yet you refrained.
“I’ve had my bags packed since then” you confess to him and watch as his face drops, knowing you’ve spent the last week planning on leaving him. “I needed you to tell me to leave, I would’ve stayed if you didn’t say that, and we would’ve carried on being miserable.”
Eddie shakes his head, that’s not true, you two weren’t miserable, right? Sure, you fought but all couples did that, it was normal! At least Eddie thought so, you didn’t really mean that he made you miserable, any minute now you’d hug him and tell him you were overreacting and he’d hug you so tight you’d do that little squeal-giggle you do, then he’d take you to your shared bedroom where he’d lay you down and tell you how much you meant to him, how much he needed you. He would love you right, he promises to make all that true as soon as this is over.
However, that doesn’t happen, in fact, you let go of him with a sad smile and make your way to the bedroom only to return seconds later with two packed duffle bags. Eddie’s ears ring as he tries to shake himself out of his anxious stance. Do something! Say something! Anything! You can’t let her leave like this! His mind screams at him, he stays still.
Watching as you make your way to him and kiss his forehead, he sucks in a sharp breath when he realises this is goodbye. “I truly hope you find someone that loves you better than I did” you whisper, and he winces. Nobody would ever be able to love him the way you did, unconditionally, even when he fucked up, you loved him until he took your love for granted.
Somehow through all of this, you hold no animosity to Eddie, you feel at peace for once as you walk to your car. Finally leaving behind the jail you found yourself in, it feels freeing, and you can’t help but let out a hysterical giggle.
However, upstairs on the couch of your once shared apartment, Eddie lays shaking and crying on the floor, holding your pillow to his chest, chanting continuously “wake up, it's just a dream, she’s coming back. Wake up, it's just a dream, she’s coming back.”
warnings p in v sex, threesome, pussy eating, fingering, use of a toy (dildo), cum swallowing, pure filth, cream pie, raunchy smut and pure filth, unprotected & protected sex, blowjob, handjob, mentions of cheating. (not Eddie or reader + a big fuck you to Jason Carver).
backstory: Eddie, Chrissy, and reader are all college age. Chrissy is 20, reader and Eddie 22. Its the year 1988 and Chrissy is back in town from college. Reader lives with Eddie and he is still Chrissy's drug dealer. Chrissy didnt die in 1986 and its slightly AU. The fruity four defeated Vecna in 1986 along with Eleven and Max except Vecna comes back years later.
Synopsis: You were former friends with Chrissy Cunningham. One day she showed up to visit the trailer park to buy some Ketamine from Eddie. What started as a rocky evening led to a night none of you could ever forget. (A little re-imagining at the end and Chrissy does not die in this Stranger Things universe).
Eddie was your boyfriend and your best friend. After being long-term friends for the first three years of high school, you began dating. Your former best friend Chrissy had joined the popular crowd, and she became the head cheerleader. You were not on the best terms with her anymore, but had been best friends for about 7 years and had known each other since elementary school. There was a time when you could tell her anything and you were practically inseparable. Some days you missed her a lot, but it was great that you had Eddie. Even though you were both outcasts, you still really understood each other and had a lot of fun together, no matter what you did. Just sitting next to him and listening to heavy metal music was good enough for you. He was the person you told all of your secrets to now that Chrissy was a part of your past since 11th grade.
Chrissy needed to buy some ketamine, and she knew Eddie had the goods. After she arrived at his trailer and they exchanged pleasantries, they made the deal and she came inside to pay for them. You and Eddie had been rolling joints, and you felt all relaxed and mellowed out. You had just had a shower together, and it was great to just get comfortable on the couch with him and listen to heavy metal. It was a great time until she showed up, at least. She said hi to you and you nodded as you gave a very vague response to her. Things were awkward. After she sat down, you pulled him in close to you. He offered Chrissy the joint, and she accepted. As it was passed around, you felt so good and relaxed. It was already the second joint you had shared with him that day and it was just what you needed. After some silence ensued, you broke it by speaking up first.
"So why did you come here, Chrissy?"
"I needed to make a deal with Eddie. I don't know why you care, though it's just business. I haven't even talked to you in years now," she replied with simply a shrug of her shoulders.
This was news to you because Eddie had promised you a date night, just the two of you. He knew you had a falling out with her, just not the details, but the tension was so thick in the room that it could be cut with a knife.
"I'm just surprised you would come over to Eddie's place with him being a social outcast and everything. I guess you didn't expect me to be here even though practically the whole town knows we are dating," you told her with a roll of your eyes.
"Look, if this is too uncomfortable for you, then I'll just leave. I'll make it simple for you."
She got up, and Eddie stopped her by holding her back.
"Wait, don't go. We can figure this out," Eddie told her in a promising tone.
"Yeah, it's no big deal. Just stay then. It doesn't matter, I guess. Whatever," you responded as you flicked the ash from the joint and passed it over to Eddie again.
"Fine. I guess I will stay for 5 more minutes."
She sat back down with her legs crossed and her arms crossed around her chest. Eddie looked over at you and mouthed, 'Calm down.' You were glad he was there to intervene, and even though you were pretty skeptical about Chrissy staying, you were glad that a fight hadn't ensued. He always kept cool and level-headed. You secretly wondered if she had bought drugs from him before. You were a bit jealous, but also had some pretty strong feelings for Chrissy. That was over now, or so you thought. Eddie was yours and you trusted him. You knew nothing could come between the two of you. You were the biggest supporter of his band Corroded Coffin, and you shared a bond with him that neither of you had with anyone else.
"She wasn't supposed to come over until tomorrow. You have every right to be pissed off, though," he explained before taking another drag of the joint.
"Just forget it. I'll put on some music for us," you told them as you got up and turned on the radio. The song playing was PainKiller by Judas Priest. It was one of Eddie's favorites. He started nodding along to the song as you returned to the couch and sat on his lap, hoping to make her jealous.
It felt like impending doom some days because Hawkins had the reputation of being a very dismal town with a dark past and history. Victor and Henry Creel were the town outcasts and their family was the town's legends, but for all the wrong reasons. Life was random, but you cherished it and even though it was full of loss sometimes, you would not give up on Eddie and you hoped you could repair the damaged friendship you had with Chrissy. Secretly, you thought she felt the same. Having her around sure was interesting. Eddie felt sometimes like he couldn't deal with the big jumble of thoughts constantly going through his head, and if Vecna's curse was real, he felt he was screwed. Instead of dwelling on that, he planned to make the most of each day and do what he could to make it through. With you by his side, things were so much more bearable. With Chrissy having a hectic and rough home life, she vowed to not let it fully control her. Getting better was a slow process for her, but she was taking it a little at a time and day by day.
When you used to have sleepovers with Chrissy, you would always share a bed. Her room was fully decked out in pink shades, but for you, it was just the opposite. You loved horror movies and metal instead of all girly things, but your friendship still worked just like opposites attract. Having so much time with her and sleeping next to each other made your feelings for her grow. Even though she was just your friend, your feelings became deeper for her, but you never told her. Occasionally, you would practice kissing each other and you felt even more attracted to her because of it. Getting popular changed her a bit, and you drifted your separate ways the summer after tenth grade.
Recently Chrissy had been breaking up off and on with her long-time boyfriend Jason Carver because of stupid little fights and you wanted to rub it in her face just how much you loved Eddie. Chrissy was taking a drag and her eyes looked hazy. Maybe once she got high enough, she would lighten up and stop being such a drag. As she passed the joint to him, their fingers brushed together but you pretended not to notice. You had an idea at that moment to lighten the mood. You whispered into Eddie's ear and he nodded, then took off his denim vest of Dio handing it to you and you put it on. The next song was Looks that Kill by Motley Crue, and it was one of your favorites. Chrissy was staring at you with a genuine look of interest on her face. You gave Eddie a lap dance as the song led into the chorus. He had the biggest smile on his face and he occasionally looked over at Chrissy, who was weakly smiling and even blushing a little and giggling. You gave Eddie some kisses on his neck as you gave him the dance and as you turned around on his lap grinding on him, you threw your head back onto his shoulder and his hands caressed your body. When the song was over and a commercial came onto the radio, he gave you another kiss. The lap dance was something you had a lot of fun doing and with her around you were shocked you could be as into it as you were instead of shy. He blew some smoke into your mouth and then handed you the joint as another song came on.
"You doing okay over there, Chrissy?" He asked her curiously after a brief pause.
"Yeah, I'm great. I could go for a bottle of water."
"Sure. I was thinking about getting a beer for myself. Be right back. Anything for you, m'lady?" He asked as he turned back to you.
"Just some water, please. Thanks."
Eddie kissed you on the temple and tapped your ass playfully. You moved closer to Chrissy and after taking another drag of the joint; you passed it to her.
"So what's on your mind?" Chrissy asked interestedly.
"I actually can't believe I did that with you here. It's so unlike me."
"It was great, though. I wish I had your confidence. Look, I'm sorry we aren't friends now, but I would like to give our friendship another chance."
"I would like that if you are serious. I mean, why not? Let's give it another, try I guess."
You both smiled, and you leaned in closer to her. It might've just been the weed talking, but you were feeling a strong attraction toward her. Before either of you could say another word you gave her a small kiss on the lips.
"Do it again," she told you with a raise of her brows and a mischievous look on her face, looking disappointed at how quick the kiss was. If it wasn't for the drugs you probably wouldn't be doing this but it happened and there was no going back. Suddenly she was reminded of the times you had practiced kissing each other and she was craving more from you.
"I thought you were back with Jason though…"
"Yeah well, it's not going so well I think I'm going to break up with him again. I saw him kissing another girl. Also, I found a used bra and a pair of panties in the glove compartment of his car. I found the key even though he had it locked."
Jason could seriously go get fucked you thought to yourself. No one deserved that ever. Not even Chrissy. Especially not Chrissy. You kissed her again and she deepened it, pulling you even closer to her. Only moments later Eddie walked in with his beer along with two bottles of water and a surprised but pleased look on his face. Seemingly, he was quite interested in the scene that was happening right in front of him but he also was a bit perplexed that you two went from arguing to kissing so quickly. It's not that he minded in the slightest. You had talked to him before about if the opportunity arose and you were with another person, particularly another girl you liked, it was okay to kiss.
"Didn't mean to interrupt…"
You and Chrissy broke the kiss, only now realizing he was there again.
"It's fine Eddie. Come sit down. I'm sure Chrissy wants her water."
He walked over to the couch, sat down again and handed Chrissy her water and you the other water.
"I guess we put on a sort of a show for you, huh?" You asked him as you took his hand in yours, fingers now entwined.
He took a big swig from his beer and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.
"I loved it, though. What guy could be upset with his girlfriend for kissing another girl?"
You were so turned on at that moment and you gave him a deep, passionate kiss and then looked back over at Chrissy. With the joint now finished and the 3 of you feeling pretty buzzed, a smirk formed on your lips. Something told you that things were about to get much more interesting. You and Chrissy drank some of your water then set it aside.
"I've never really done something like this before. I'm having so much fun, though," Chrissy admitted.
"Good. I'm glad. Tonight has been something else, hasn't it?" You asked as you wrapped your arms around Eddie's shoulders pulling him in even closer to you.
"Now it's my turn to give you a lap dance Y/N," Chrissy told you before taking a chug of her beer for extra confidence.
The song on the radio was Talk Dirty to Me by Poison. You moved off Eddie's lap and sat down next to him. Chrissy stood up and danced on your lap. Eddie watched with fascination as she moved and grinded on you with her short cheerleading skirt on. He practically guzzled his beer while he got into the moment. Her lips grazed yours as she teased you and pulled away. She was giving you such a hot lap dance, and you were having the time of your life. As she danced your eyes stayed focused on hers and when the song was over she gave you another kiss.
"Let's take this to the bedroom," you offered up as a suggestion, wanting to take things further with Chrissy and Eddie.
"Definitely. I thought you'd never ask," Chrissy responded as Eddie got up and you, as well as Chrissy followed him into his room.
You felt excited about all the possibilities and what could happen that night with Eddie and Chrissy. You liked her and it was great. She liked you too.
You went up to Chrissy and wrapped your arms around her from behind and kissed her neck as you heard her soft whimpering. You pushed her hair back from her face and caressed her chest, causing her to gasp. You removed her top and her skirt, then let her undress you down to your panties.
"Now tell me what you want to do with me. I want to know your innermost thoughts and darkest desires," you whispered to her.
"I want to show you how much I like you. I want to pleasure you."
"Of course, but first, let's make Eddie feel good."
She nodded in agreement and you kissed her deeply and passionately with tangled tongues. Once the kiss broke you pulled Eddie close into you and kissed him then watched as they kissed each other. Getting down on your knees on the carpet, you undid his pants and unzipped them. Chrissy got down next to you and watched eagerly with wide eyes as you removed his thick and perfect cock from the inner confines of his boxers. As you grabbed her by the jaw and looked into her eyes you said,
"Right now Chrissy, I want to see how well you can suck cock."
"Eddie, you are so big. I want to feel you down my throat," she told him in a soft voice.
He looked down at both of you with lust in his eyes. He wanted to feel both of your mouths so badly.
"Fuck him with your mouth first. I want for you to start."
She caressed the tip of his cock then his shaft and kissed every inch of his length before she wrapped her mouth around the head taking him into her mouth little by little as she began to caress and cradle his balls and rub the part of his shaft she hadn't yet reached with her mouth. She looked so hot as she sucked, deep and even deeper until she established a steady rhythm on his length. The lewd sucking sounds could be heard as she kept going with eager enthusiasm and you stroked his balls.
"Good girl, now let me get a chance."
She popped off his cock, and you met her lips in a wet and sloppy kiss with tangling tongues. Eddie watched both of you as a huge grin was plastered on his face. You took him into your mouth with pleasure quickly reaching his pubic bone with your nose and began to choke and gag a little on his cock but just at first until you fully adjusted to his length. He rocked his hips back and forth as you moved your mouth loving the feeling of the very back of your throat. Chrissy watched with great interest as you sucked him off like a pro and he pulled your hair back with one hand while his other hand rested on his hip.
"Such a good girl for me putting that mouth to good use. Deep throating me like a porn star," he groaned as he closed his eyes for just a moment.
You looked up at him and fluttered your lashes as you kept on sucking him off with strands of drool and pre-cum running down your mouth and chin. Soon he pushed you off his cock and pulled you up with a firm grip of your hair to meet your lips in a kiss. Your tongues moved with passion as you kissed him back hard.
"I want to watch as you ladies please each other, then I'll join in."
He sat down in a nearby chair and you took that as your signal to guide Chrissy to the bed and push her down on it. Once you removed your clothes except for your underwear, you leaned down close to her and caressed her chest as you asked her.
"What did you promise me about wanting to give me pleasure?"
"I want to explore your body and pleasure you. I haven't done this with another girl before," she admitted a bit excitedly, sounding full of longing and yearning for a chance to get to do this with you. She wanted you to be the first girl she had ever made love to and as far as she was concerned, Jason was now history.
"Well, you can please me then. I would love that."
You laid down on the bed as she straddled your thighs, kissed you from your neck down to your collarbone, chest, and stomach, and then parted your thighs. You opened your legs wide for her as she kissed and licked down towards your inner thighs and removed your panties with her teeth as Eddie watched his cock twitching in his pants his beer now gone.
"This is nice but I want your tongue," you commanded firmly.
Chrissy looked at you like you were the girl of her dreams and you wanted to give her the best night of her life. With Eddie there, you knew things would be even better. The thought of sharing Eddie with anyone wasn't something you thought would happen or with Chrissy of all people, but now that it was you knew you would make the most out of the experience. The weed heightened the feelings you were experiencing, and Chrissy looked and smelled so beautiful.
When her tongue and fingers made contact with your clit, you wondered if she hadn't done this before because she knew exactly how to please you. You looked over at Eddie with a big grin on your face and he looked back at you with lust in his eyes and a wicked smile on his face his cock still as rock hard as ever.
She was fairly good at pleasing you and being a girl she knew what your sensitive spots were, where to put her tongue, and just how to finger you. You were so wet already and her tongue and fingers brought you closer than ever to reaching your first orgasm of the night. You tugged on her hair and told her when to go slower and when to apply more pressure. She read the signals well and she looked deeply into your eyes as you moaned and whimpered for her. She was encouraged only more to please you even better. It was so hot to watch her be submissive like this and give you what you needed and craved. Eddie's eyes were on the two of you never daring to look anywhere else worried about missing even a single second of her pleasing you or the faces you were making. As she tongue-fucked you, you caught glances at Eddie and caressed your breasts wanting to put on a show for him. The lewd moans and noises coming from your mouth were making his cock already wet with precum and he was fully erect again. Porn had nothing on this sight in front of him. Seeing you and Chrissy please each other was the hottest thing he could ever watch.
"That's so fuckin good, baby girl," you mewled as she ate you out like you were a four-course meal and you tugged even harder on her ponytail.
Eddie couldn't take it any longer and came over to the bed fully naked now and harder than ever as Chrissy had you on the verge of your release. He fondled and caressed your breasts and nipples as she added another finger and you writhed underneath her, your fingers clenching the sheets.
"Gonna cum- fuck!" You cried out as you began to cum in her mouth.
She pulled away slowly, licking her lips, then kissed Eddie. You got up and pushed him down onto the bed as you straddled his lap then lowered yourself down onto his erect cock. Chrissy was kneeling next to you and caressing your breasts as you began to ride him. His big cock stretched you out so fully and it felt incredible.
"That's my girl taking her daddy's cock just like that. Fuck! So hot," he groaned.
You could never get enough of him, and her touch made the experience even hotter than it would be if it were just you and him. Her caresses felt wonderful. Eddie grunted underneath you and spanked your ass as he bounced you up and down on his cock. As you rode him and your breasts bounced, your moans grew louder.
"Touch me, Chrissy. Fuck me with your fingers."
She obeyed your command almost instantly and moved her fingers down to your wet clit and rubbed circles over it, wanting to make you feel amazing. You pulled her in deeply for a kiss as you rode him and he spanked your ass.
"Fuck, that's so hot just like that Kiss her," he growled almost animalistically.
He felt so fuckin turned on and hard inside of you as you rode him and he bucked his hips even further into you. He never thought that you and Chrissy kissing and being together would turn him on but here he was and you as well as your former best friend, were giving each other carnal delight and pleasure.
As she groaned against your mouth and you rode your boyfriend's cock, you moaned loudly and coated him with your juices. He bucked his hips up into you a bit forcefully as he pinched your nipples and Chrissy finger-fucked you with three of her fingers, making you feel so fuckin' hot and you felt another orgasm approaching you quickly. As you looked at Eddie and into his brown doe-eyes and back over at Chrissy's blue ones, you felt like the luckiest girl in the world.
You pulled her in for a kiss and crashed your lips together, feeling so wet from her touch, Eddie's cock, and his fingers working against your nipples. Your cries grew louder and the bed squeaked even louder as you fucked him and kissed her.
"Fuck yes, cum all over my cock just like that," he groaned as he felt your juices coat his shaft.
Chrissy licked her fingers greedily, loving your taste, then met his lips in a kiss so he could taste you from her lips. You got off him and whispered into her ear, "You want to ride his cock, right? Now is the perfect time for that."
She blushed slightly, and you wasted no time reaching into the bedside drawer to grab the box of condoms. You eagerly rolled the condom onto his cock as he looked at you, practically out of breath. His chocolate button eyes were wide with wonder as he realized what you were up to.
"Are you sure about this, baby?"
"Yes. I want to see her ride your cock. It would be the hottest thing."
Once she removed the rest of her clothes, you guided Chrissy onto him slowly, inch by agonizing inch. As she took him fully, you rubbed her clit and guided her along as she began to bounce up and down on his thick length. He was so big and girthy and you watched with fascination and delight as you fingered her and yourself. Her moans became louder as she got into the rhythm of it all. As he fucked up into her wet and tight pussy, you kissed her and Eddie grabbed her hips to help her bounce on his cock to his liking at the perfect tempo and pace.
"Fuck, she is so tight. Fuck!" He gasped as she rode him with passion and elicited loud moans as she fucked him.
Getting your favorite toy out of the bedside table, which was a clear glass dildo with a heart shape at one end, you use it on your clit, moving it over your sensitive bud and watching as they fucked each other hard and rough. The sounds they were making and the wet sound of skin slapping against skin were so erotic and it made you move the toy even faster inside of your pussy.
"Now switch and get on top of her," you commanded, as she seemed to be nearing her release.
Chrissy popped off his cock and switched positions with him. He wasted no time ramming right back into her wet pussy as he wrapped her legs around his waist. His thrusts became more sloppy as he was getting closer to chasing his high and you fingered her clit as he fucked in and out of her and made wet, squelching noises. It was one of the hottest and filthiest things you had ever seen before. You were dripping onto the toy now and nearing overstimulation, but kept going as you watched them fuck. They both watched you and whined with pleasure as you used the toy on yourself. You loved to see her tits bounce as he fucked her, and it was so hot to see them pleasing each other like this.
Hearing Eddie's groans was like music to your ears. Seeing him being pleased like this made you feel so hot.
"Gonna cum- Eddie," she whined as she felt like her orgasm was going to wash over her at any moment now.
"Me too, Chrissy," he told her as he thrust his hips into her.
"Cum on our chests," you groaned as you set the toy aside on the bedside table.
A low growl escaped Eddie's lips, and Chrissy moaned louder now that her orgasm washed over her.
"Yes, Eddie! I'm cumming!" She cried out. After she had ridden out her high, he pulled out and removed the condom, quickly tossing it aside and into the trash.
You watched with delight as you were now down on your knees next to the bed.
Chrissy went over to you and knelt as well, kissing you as Eddie muttered 'oh fuck' and gave his cock several more thrusts before spilling all over your chest and hers. You helped clean each other up and collapsed together on his bed. Once you had all come down from your highs and caught your breath, everyone cuddled next to each other, feeling so satisfied from the experience.
"Well that was pretty wonderful. I'm just so glad we were able to make up," Chrissy mused as she rested in between you and Eddie.
"Just stay with us. Stay the night," you suggested. Eddie nodded in agreement.
"I will. I'm glad I'm here. Tonight was the best."
"You're still dating Jason, though, aren't you?" He asked with big doe-like eyes.
It wasn't like Chrissy to cheat, but being with you and Eddie just felt so right, and Jason did cheat first after all.
"Yeah, about that don't think that was working out too well. It was mainly long distance anyway."
"Breakup with him and go out with us. The more the merrier," you suggested, sounding as serious as you could.
"And more mind-blowing sex? I mean, why not? I enjoy being around both of you."
"Then it's settled. You are ours," he told her as he wrapped one arm around her and the other around you.
You pulled her in for another long and lingering kiss. Tonight was pretty wonderful, and it was all thanks to them. Eddie and Chrissy both understood you so well and the sex was amazing. Most of all, you loved the way you were when you were around them. What started as a friendship and then turned into a crush before it turned into enemies was now a friend with benefits and possibly more- but who knew where things would go from here? You were finally at a good place with Chrissy Cunningham and loved your boyfriend more than ever- you wouldn't want it any other way. That same weekend, Chrissy broke up with Jason and exposed him for the creepy cheater that he was. What started as revenge sex was turning out to be something even more.
Weeks later Vecna was taken down again and with Chrissy on your side, you, Eddie, and your best friends Robin, Nancy, and Steve accompanied by Dustin, Max, and Eleven destroyed FOREVER what once was the upside down.
3 months later
Every weekend at the hideout you and Chrissy were there for Eddie and cheering him on front row and center. He loved to see you both get into the show and dance together. It was quite sexy to him seeing you and Chrissy grind on each other. Other people might've noticed, but all of your attention was on them. That night was very special though, because you and Chrissy now had the coolest and best outfits of anyone else there. She helped you to make Hellfire Club cheerleader uniforms that were white and black with the Hellfire Club lettering and the logo of the demon on them. Eddie got so turned on by seeing the uniforms. Once the show ended, you all went backstage and had a little fun of your own. You stripped off her uniform first but left the short skirt on. She did the same for you and you were devouring each other in front of him 69'ing as he got off by stroking himself and licking his lips. It was the hottest thing he had ever seen in his life. When he couldn't take it any longer, he got up and pounded into you, taking you from behind, pulling your hair as Chrissy watched, then switched and fucked her going between your pussy and hers as you made out with her. He spanked you both and his thrusts got even more rough and forceful, but he called you both his pretty princesses. Things were getting pretty serious and not just with Eddie, but with Chrissy, too. That night was filled with so much euphoria, pleasure, and ecstasy. It was pretty hot and heavy with Chrissy for a while and throughout another year of college. After you remained friends but went your separate ways when she found a girl she wanted to date exclusively. From then on you and Eddie only grew closer and even though you found other partners with him, nothing matched the chemistry and mind-blowing sex you had with Chrissy until Steve came around. But that's another story for another time.
Cheerleader, OVER | e.m.
Tumblr media
summary: the scene where chrissy cunningham goes to eddie munson’s trailer and almost gets… yknow’d, until you show up and save the day
eddie munson x cheerleader fem!reader
warnings/tags: it’s the vecna scene you guys you all know it so just prepare, angst?, yeah angst, the reader and chrissy are childhood bffls / ‘platonic with a capital p’ soulmates, reader and jason get into a fight, buckingham if you squint not even very hard, fluff too i think?, allusions to chrissy’s ed — it’s over quick i swear, eddie is immediately infatuated and flirty with the reader to be honest
wc: 2265ish
•••
“found it!” eddie thumped the small plastic bag against his free hand, grinning as he walked out of his bedroom. “peaceful bliss just moments away.”
eddie internally chuckled at his own joke as he came into his living room, but froze at the sight in front of him. if he was being honest with himself, he already couldn’t believe that the chrissy cunningham, had asked him for drugs. i mean, it was hawkins- and by all accounts, chrissy was the perfect representation of what the town stood for.
but eddie could close his eyes and remember a small grinning girl from middle school who was nothing but kind; so really, who was he to judge?
“chrissy?” eddie kept his voice soft as he watched as chrissy’s eyes fluttered. “hey! wake up!” eddie snapped his fingers in front of chrissy’s face, a frown painted on his face. “i don’t like this-”
he really didn’t fucking like it when she started to fucking levitate.
•••
you thumped your thumbs against the steering wheel of your car, sun visor down even though it was pitch black outside. you couldn’t help but eye yourself in the little mirror on the visor, a thin cut across your lip. you tongued at it, giggling to yourself as you shook your head- before you turned into the trailer park.
you hadn’t fully believed your friend chrissy when she’d called for you at the school, and asked you to pick her up from eddie munson’s house. she’d been off lately, though you had honestly had just chalked it up to being off due to her boyfriend, jaspn carver. specifically, the jason carver you had just left detention because of- and the reason for the cut on your lip.
walking in on him making out with some girl had definitely not been a surprise- but him grabbing you by the collar of your cheerleading sweatshirt definitely had been. however, honestly, after the things you had experienced the past few years? it was something you welcomed with open fucking arms.
you’d spat in face, called him a couple of names, and he’d accepted it… until you informed dear ol’ jason you were one thousand percent telling chrissy; and you’d be right next to her when she dumped his ass. he had backhanded you then, his class ring catching your lip, and you’d spat a mouthful of blood into his face… just as the gym coach walked in.
he’d given all three of you detention immediately, though you knew he hadn’t necessarily wanted to give you it. he had let you go to the nurse’s office first for a bag of ice and some disinfectant wipes, and your “detention” had been sitting quietly while jason got his ass handed to him and had to run drills up and down the gymnasium.
you grinned to yourself as you pulled into eddie munson’s driveway, parking your car next to his van, though you made no move to actually turn it off. you pressed on the horn a couple of times, giggling as you and chrissy’s favorite song in the entire world came on your car’s radio.
“i come home in the morning light-” ♪
you sang quietly along, but paused when the lights inside of the munson’s trailer flickered. you weren’t a stranger to flickering, and while you hadn’t had anymore… experiences, the sense of dread in your stomach immediately nauseated you. the lights flickered again, and you didn’t hesitate to practically launch yourself from your car- looping to the trunk, and pulling out your cheer bag. while the lights continued to flicker, you could hear eddie munson inside screaming, pleading for chrissy to wake up.
and that just would not fucking do.
you’d given too much already, you’d seen the crazy shit in hawkins more than once; and you refused to let it take one of the last things you had. it could take as much as it wanted from you.
but it would not take chrissy cunningham.
not if you had any fucking thing to say about it.
“but girls, they want to have fun-” ♪
cyndi lauper’s voice accompanied your hurried walk up eddie’s steps, a crowbar tight in your grasp of you right hand, as your cb radio was held in your left. you didn’t bother to knock, ramming your shoulder against eddie’s door- successfully causing it to open without having to turn the knob.
you’d learned that trick from max when she had moved into the trailer park and forgotten her key.
“chris-” your friend’s name died on your lips as you met the wild eyes of eddie munson first, before your eyes darted to the back of chrissy. while facing away from you would’ve been normal, her levitating several feet off the air was really fucking not. “munson, what the fuck?”
“she just started doing that!” eddie loudly hissed, and you nodded as you tossed your cb to him- before you rounded to face chrissy.
“chrissy wake the fuck up!” you hissed, trying your hardest to ignore the way the whites of her eyes fluttered in your direction. “i swear to god christina eloise cunningham i will kill you if you fucking leave me, you hear me?”
“when the working day is done-” ♪
chrissy’s eyes fluttered rapidly as the music continued to play, and you shot a glance to eddie. chrissy had stopped floating, and while you couldn’t see the blue you knew of her eyes- her head was unmistakably inclined toward you.
“keep talking to her!” eddie lowly ordered, and you nodded- immediately tossing your crowbar toward him.
“don’t let that fucking song stop, munson.”
•••
chrissy cunningham flinched away from the creature in front of her, swallowing back bile at the incessant smell of rotting food. flies buzzed near her as the creature chuckled lowly, his eyes almost slits as he extended a clawed hand.
“it’s time for your suffering to end-” the creature purred, and chrissy sobbed as it raked one of it’s clawed fingers almost gently against chrissy’s throat. “it won’t hurt-”
“CHRISTINA ELOISE CUNNINGHAM-”
you. that was your voice, accompanied by cyndi lauper. chrissy swallowed again, looking past the creature’s shoulder as a blue tinged portal seemed to open up. she could see you, in eddie munson’s living room, looking up at her with a crowbar in your hand.
you were blurry, but it was unmistakably you.
“she can’t save you, no one can.” the creature hissed, voice distorted. “she hates you, chrissy-”
chrissy clenched her eyes shut.
memories flashed before her eyes as she listened to you call her name over and over, with cyndi lauper’s ‘girls just wanna have fun’ playing in the background.
you and chrissy as little kids, promising to always be the best of friends.
you and chrissy as tweens, you with braces and her with a perm; giggling over boys in a magazine together.
you and chrissy just last year, cackling as you darted around the starcourt mall together- both with ice cream cones in your hands.
you, just a couple months ago- cradling chrissy as she leaned over a toilet in the hawkins high girl’s bathroom, the taste of bile in her mouth.
you, a couple months ago— promising that you still loved her when she talked about how pretty a girl from band was.
you, telling her that her mom was wrong. that chrissy was enough, more than enough.
you, packing food for her for after cheer practice.
you, with scars that you couldn’t fully explain.
you, with hands that shook and a shorter fuse.
you, with a crowbar in your trunk and a cb radio you never touched— but always had on you.
you. you. you. you. you.
all things in chrissy’s life were entwined with you, you her soulmate. you, a girl who never judged her, not once (except for that crush she had on tammy thompson you would never let that go).
chrissy swallowed when she felt the creature drag a claw against the gold necklace she wore; a tiny dainty chain that had your initial on it.
you wore one that matched it; with a tiny ‘c’ that hung in the hollow of your throat.
whoever, whatever this creature was- chrissy knew one thing for certain.
he, it… it was so fucking wrong about you.
chrissy opened her eyes.
•••
eddie watched as chrissy fell.
you caught her immediately, slamming onto your knees in a move eddie could only tie to cheer- and then you had the strawberry-blonde girl cradled to you.
you both haphazardly tipped to the side, and you stopped the both of you from cracking your skulls against the carpet. the lights stopped flickering, and it was silent as chrissy sobbed against you.
eddie couldn’t help but watch for a moment, before he stepped out- quickly walking to your car. he turned it off, grabbing the tape- and was quick to come back in, jamming it back into the radio that was propped near the television.
you were watching him with calculating eyes, chrissy still cradled against you. you’d tugged her ponytail out in the mere moments eddie had been out, and he watched as you ran your fingers through her hair in a practiced movement.
he didn’t even flinch when chrissy gagged up bile onto his carpet.
“chrissy… what happened?” your voice was soft, a coaxing thing really- and eddie watched as chrissy sat up off of you, coming to lean against the bottom of the couch so she could face you and eddie both.
chrissy’s hands trembled as she used the heel of her palm to wipe at her nose, head shaking slowly from side to side.
“you won’t believe me if i tell you.” chrissy’s voice was shot to hell, and eddie watched as chrissy swallowed sharply.
you shook your head, and eddie felt something roll in his chest at the look that flashed in your eyes as your mouth opened.
“try me, cunningham.”
•••
you listened as chrissy spoke of the creature, and you tried to ignore the tremble that started in your hands.
you listened as chrissy spoke of how everything around chrissy changed.
the rotting food.
photos of you and her; with you burned out.
the man, the creature, the thing.
of how all of a sudden- she’d seen and heard you.
you and cyndi lauper.
how she’d bit the thing in the hand and it dropped her, and she’d just fucking bolted.
eddie had excused himself at one point, coming back with apple slices and water, as well as shirts for both you and chrissy to change into.
you weren’t fully sure what the ‘hellfire club’ was exactly, but you’d seen the party and even eddie himself wear them on several occasions.
you both took it easily.
after eating several apple slices and huddling all together, you swallowed several times before you cleared your throat.
“if i tell you both about this… i’m violating not just signed ndas but also several pink promises.” your voice was soft, and you kept your eyes on your hands. your hands were scarred, and you tried to remember back to just three years ago when they were as smooth as could be. “but if you want to know-”
“tell us.” eddie’s voice was sharp, and chrissy made a soft noise from next to you when you flinched.
“you’ve been protecting me from this for three years… haven’t you?” chrissy asked softly, and you didn’t look at her when you nodded slowly. eddie let out a noise that sounded closer to that of a wounded animal than a human, and you kept your eyes set on the palms of your hands. “the mall?”
“yeah.” you nodded, swallowing slightly.
“before that? when you were in the hospital after the byers boy was found?” chrissy questioned, and you barely dipped your chin in a nod. “more?”
you folded in on yourself, pulling your knees up to your chest- resting your chin on your knees as you wiggled your fingers toward eddie. his hand went to the crowbar first, and you let out a wet sounding giggle as you shook your head. when he touched your cb you nodded, and once it was in your hand- you let out a soft trembling sigh.
“i’ll tell you guys everything, but i have to make a call first.” you murmured, and you leaned into chrissy when the strawberry-blonde girl threw her arm around your shoulders. you sunk into her side, and pressed a couple buttons on the radio.
“make the call then, skirts.” eddie teased, and you felt your cheeks flush with heat as he tapped his foot against your white ked sneaker.
you were fucked. the radio crackled in your hand as it was turned on, and you fiddled with finding the station- before you held the button down and spoke.
“party— this is cheerleader, over.” you spoke loudly, and you watched as eddie’s brow furrowed slightly. chrissy made a noise from her spot next to you, but you didn’t look at her as you spoke again. “party this is cheerleader-”
“babysitter and birdie, go ahead.”
“bard and ranger, go ahead.”
“journalist, go ahead.”
“zoomer, go ahead.”
you couldn’t help but laugh at the overlapping voices, and especially due to the way eddie’s brow was furrowed. chrissy was giggling against your shoulder, and you licked your lips as you held the button down- before you spoke again.
“cheerleader has a code red, over.” you, chrissy, and eddie waited in silence for a few moments, and you swallowed nervously.
after a moment of silence, the radio burst to life.
“So you finally told him?” Robin asked, laying on her stomach on your bed as you sat on the floor facing her.
After you left the school that afternoon you just went home and waited until you knew Robin would be home. Once you knew it would be safe to call her house, you did. Three times before Robin finally picked up. You could hear her intake of breath as she went to say something. Though you quickly cut her off, not with your words but with your tears as they began to fall freely upon hearing your friend pick up the phone.
That is how you found yourself here, with Robin laying on her stomach on your bed while you laid on the floor looking up at your ceiling. You had told Robin all about what had happened between you and Eddie at his trailer that day weeks ago, you had also told her about what you saw at school today. The emotions that you had shoved down for so long coming to the surface and staining your cheeks as the tears rolled down your face.
“Yeah, and we see how well that worked out.” You mumbled, running a hand down your face. Frustration and exhaustion are beginning to take over. Making your head heavy; you could lay on here all night.
“It’s not that bad, he’s still your friend. I’m sure he’ll talk to you if you give him the chance.”
At Robin’s words you pushed yourself up on your elbows. You knew she didn’t mean anything by it, only trying to help in the only way she felt she could. It admittedly frustrated you but you would never take it out on Robin, not when she’s been the only constant since your blow up with Eddie.
“I would love to try, but he didn’t try to talk to me that day. I doubt he’d talk to me about it now.”
 Robin was silent for a moment. You could tell that she was contemplating something. Which always terrified you, her plans had a tendency to backfire even when she had different intentions. But you let her sit in quiet contemplation for a moment. Simply watching as she thought things over, wishing that you could peek inside her head sometimes. Though you didn't have to wait long to get a glimpse inside.
Robin jumped up from your bed, and joined you on the floor. Her eyes shining with a look you had come to call her “By golly I’ve got it” look. Robin grabbed your shoulders and pulled you closer to her, nearly making your noses touch. It was startling to you though it did bring a small smile to your face to see her theatrics.
“You said Henderson told you they’re going to prom together?”
You nodded, no words coming out of your mouth as close as Robin was you were.
“Then you go to prom. Take Steve, dress like you own the fucking place and make him eat it.”
A smile grew on Robin’s face as she finished telling you her idea. But you grew skeptical. It was a plan, you could give her that, and yeah it wasn’t a terrible plan. But you didn’t want to make him jealous. That never ended up the way it did in the movies. One of you would still end up hurt in the end, and with your luck lately you’d put money on it coming back to bite you in the ass.
However, getting out of the house, dressing in a killer dress and being able to party with some of your other friends DID sound pretty nice. It sounded like the perfect opportunity to get your mind off of the guy that was plaguing it.
“I’ll go to prom,” Robin squealed, excited that you were going with her plan. “However, I’m not doing it to make Eddie jealous. I just want a fun night with you and Steve. If Eddie doesn’t want to talk to me then so be it. I can have fun on my own.”
Tumblr media
Across town Eddie was sitting in his own bedroom, staring at the tux hung up on his closet door. A red tie hung from the hanger, perfectly matching the shade of red that made up Chrissy’s dress. It had taken three hours at the mall for the pair to find. Chrissy made it a point that they needed to match perfectly, dragging Eddie into a plethora of stores before finding it.
Overall the day hadn’t been bad, Eddie had enjoyed the time he and Chirssy had spent together. But he felt like something was missing. Like, he could laugh with Chirssy but he found himself missing the way he would laugh with you; the full bellied, leave you in stitches type of laughter. He enjoyed movie nights with Chrissy, relishing in the way he could pull her close and let his hands wander. But he found himself missing the horror movies the two of you would watch together and the junk food and marijuana you would consume. Oftentimes the night would end with the two of you cuddling close, much like he and Chrissy would. He loved having Chrissy at Hellfire meeting and introducing her to the complexities of the game. But damn, he missed being able to play with you and watch as you figured out each of his traps and set ups. He thought it was nice to have a girlfriend, especially one like Chrissy who he had mooned over for years. But he missed being able to talk to his best friend about anything and everything.
It took a second as his mind wandered off. But realization dawned on Eddie.
He missed you. He missed his best friend. And he needed to fix it.
Smut prompt 14 with Chrissy? Words cannot describe how much I love this woman <3
YAY!!! CHRISSY
I literally love her too- so I'm writing a long one for her
Smut 18+
“I’m going to fucking ruin you.”
Tumblr media
Chrissy Cunningham was the perfect child, perfect grades, a spot on reputation, and a huge secret.
Being captain of the cheerleading team meant she had eyes on her everywhere, watching her every move and never letting her breathe in peace.
Her family wanted her to be on top of grades, every club possible and date the star player of the basketball team, Jason Carver. Her parents were very tight with his parents and always dreamed of them being together. Chrissy never wanted to disappoint her parents, even more than she already has, so a date with Jason couldn't have been that bad. Now she finds herself stuck living a life she didn't want. Dating a guy she didn't love and doesn't think she could ever learn to love.
~~
Chrissy needed another club to add to her transcript. Her parents didn't like that she had so much free time, that meant she wasn't doing enough.
Chrissy already was part of every club possible, but not hellfire.
She hesitantly knocked on the door, a practiced smile on her face.
The one and only Eddie Munson opened the door, shock on his face seeing the queen of high school at his door.
"Are you lost?" He asked, looking around the hallway.
"no! I actually was seeing about joining hellfire." She smiled at him more reassuringly. Showing she means no harm, just interested.
"um why?" Not like he didn't want her there, but this made no sense at all.
"I wanted to join a new club." Eddie eyed her suspiciously but invited her in.
And the rest was history.
~~
Chrissy became best friends with Eddie, Jeff, Gareth, Dustin, and Mike.
And deeply falling in love with Eddie's partner in crime, Y/N.
Y/N wasn't there the first day Chrissy joined, so when she walked in to see a cheerleader next to Eddie she was shocked but welcomed her with open arms.
They quickly became friends, being the only girls in hellfire had it's perks. They got to team up, have sleepovers and spend many hours together.
~~
It was hard not to fall for Chrissy, she was gorgeous and kind. But she had a boyfriend and a very popular relationship.
Y/N was gay but very few people knew, just her closets friends. Eddie loved having a guy friend, someone to talk babes with. And one girl was the main topic of conversation.
"So when are you going to make the moves on lover girl?" Eddie asked as he slid next to Y/N at the lunch table, watching as she stared at the cheerleader eating her lunch.
Y/N quickly shushed him and slapped his arm. "Not in school." She warned. Eddie rolled his eyes.
"she's definitely got a thing for you." He said with a teasing smile.
"Eddie she has a boyfriend, and definitely is not gay. We are friends, and that's it."
~~
"If you keep staring at her she's going to notice "
Chrissy jumped from Eddie's words coming from behind her. Quickly turning her head with a blush on her cheeks. Eyes diverting away from Y/N.
"I am not staring." She denied. Eddie laughed at the obvious lie.
"Oh yeah sure. Why don't you just make a move?"
"Um no. Plus it's obvious she likes you."
Eddie laughed hard at that, full on clenching his stomach as he leaned over.
Chrissy watched him confused, a slight smile on her face.
"what's so funny?"
"She's gay and she's definitely in to you. So listen to me when I say make the fucking move."
~~
Now that's how Chrissy found herself at a party searching the dance floor for Y/N.
"She's in the kitchen. I'll distract your asshole boyfriend."
Eddie being her wing man was not what she thought would have happened when joining hellfire.
But neither was falling in love with a girl.
Hellfire was full of surprises.
Once she found Y/N in the kitchen, she felt her thighs clench together and her blood boil. Y/N stood there, talking with some gorgeous girl. Standing very close, screaming over the music. Her tight dark blue dress framed her body perfectly. Cut down past her thighs and fishnets rested underneath. Chrissy could feel her eyes stopping at Y/N's ass, body heating up the more she thought of how her body looked underneath the dress. But once her eyes caught a hand landing on the ass she was staring at, she snapped out of it.
Seeing Y/N's mouth locking lips with the girl, easily slipping her tongue into the kiss. Chrissy hated that she was close enough to hear the moans and groans from the two. The girls hand gripping harder on Y/N's ass.
Chrissy had two options: leave Y/N be and enjoy the night. Chrissy had a boyfriend she couldn't be jealous of this. OR she could march up there and rip that skank off of Y/N.
In the heat of her own jealousy she chose the second option. Marching over to the making out couple and grabbing the girls shoulder, yanking a tad bit harshly.
"WHAT THE FUCK?" the girl screamed as she was yanked away from Y/N's lips. Chrissy felt herself fuming when she saw the lipstick smeared over her lips.
Chrissy didn't bother to answer, standing in front of Y/N with a murderous look in her eyes. Y/N watched her actions, confused no doubt, having no idea what in the hell was going on with Chrissy.
Chrissy was barely thinking straight, but she grabbed Y/N's hand and dragged her to the closest room she could find, a random bedroom.
She threw her in the room and slammed the door behind them.
"Chris?" Y/N asked softly, her touch burning straight through Chrissy's skin as her hand landed on her shoulder.
Chrissy snapped around fast, toe to toe with her, staring into Y/N's worried eyes.
All she could hear was Eddie screaming to make the fucking move, so she did.
Chrissy moved her hands to the back of her dress, unzipping the material and letting it fall to her feet.
Y/N blushed and moved her eyes away quickly, no matter how bad she wanted to stare at Chrissy in her fucking matching lingerie.
"Chrissy, what are you doing?" She asked, eyes still looking anywhere else.
Chrissy didn't answer, simply unhooking her bra and throwing it on the floor. She watched as Y/N gulped as her eyes raced across her bare chest. A small smile reached her lips as she felt Y/N soaking her in. She walked up to her slowly, the heels she wore clinking against the floor.
"I'm making the first move." She whispered quietly, her hand wrapping around to the back of Y/N's head.
"What about Jason?"
"What about the slut from downstairs?"
Y/N felt herself chuckled at the bitterness in Chrissy's voice.
"Were you jealous pretty girl?" She teased, her fingertips touching Chrissy's bare skin. "Jealous that she was touching me? Jealous I was kissing her? Did you want to be you?"
"Yes." Chrissy moaned as Y/N's fingers teased her nipples. Her mind was screaming at her. She had no idea how to do anything with a girl, and she barely touched herself. Jason barely gave head or fingered her. She felt like a virgin all over again but this time with a girl who she knew damn well what she was doing.
"I'm going to fucking ruin you, you will never be able to fuck him again without thinking about how I did it better." If Chrissy was this turned out just by Y/N's words, she had no idea how she was going to survive being touched by her.
"don't be nervous, I'll take good care of you my pretty girl."
Y/N was touching her everywhere, her thighs, stomach, back, chest, and her neck. Her kiss was passionate and heated. Her tongue was a weapon and Chrissy didn't stand a chance at winning.
Y/N threw Chrissy on the random bed, no care for the sinful acts they were about to do on it. Chrissy was moaning just by the way Y/N was peeling off her wet panties. Hissing at the cold air hit her clit. She was fully naked, minus the heels, and Y/N stood fully clothed. The power she felt like Y/N had over her made her hot and moan pathetically. Y/N smirked as Chrissy's body shook in pleasure, not a single touch laid to her yet.
Y/N crawled on to the bed, positioning herself between the cheerleader's legs. Staring at the pretty pink and soaked cunt. Y/N swiped her tongue from Chrissy's hole all the way up to her clit, twirling her tongue in circles around the sensitive bud.
"oh fuck." Chrissy moaned, her head throwing back and manicured nails digging into Y/N's hair. Y/N sucked her index and middle finger then slowly pushed them inside Chrissy's cunt, eyes closing at how tight she felt. She wanted to start slow, feel Chrissy out and give her time to adjust.
"more, I need more." She whined.
"Just a greedy little thing aren't you. He must not fuck you good, does he?" Y/N teased as she slipped a third finger inside, watching as Chrissy's cunt opened up wider and swallowed her in.
Chrissy could barely answer, shaking her head against the sheets. Puffing out air and she shook against Y/N's head.
Y/N faked pouted in empathy, but began to suck on Chrissy's clit, hard.
"OH GOD!" Chrissy had never felt this way before. Her cunt was filled with Y/N's fingers and she still felt like she needed more. Her clit was pulsing against Y/N's mouth.
Y/N watched as the girl lost herself in the feeling. Her eyes closed tightly, her glitter eyelids clenching. Her mouth opened as she gasped for air and let out tiny whimpers. Her back arching as Y/N hit a deeper spot. Her nipples are hard against the cold air. She's never seen Chrissy look so beautiful before.
"I need to cum." Y/N smirked as the words left Chrissy's lips. Edging her even closer, fingering her harder and lips never leaving her clit.
"YES. RIGHT THERE. FUCK!" right before she was about to feel Chrissy's cum land on her tongue, she pulled away. Yanking her soaked fingers out of Chrissy's cunt.
"what?" Chrissy yelped as she sat up the best she could, her body still lightly fucked out.
"I said I was going to ruin you and fuck you. I never said anything about letting you cum." Chrissy should have known she would play dirty. Her eyes weren't kind and there was a reason.
"please Y/N, please." She tried to beg, hips bucking into the air. Eyes glistening in tears, hands gripping the sheets as hard as she could to compose herself.
Y/N silently stripped off her dress, removing her tights and kicking off her sneakers. Unhooking her bra fast. Chrissy felt her mouth water and cunt clench watching as she stripped herself almost bare. Nothing left but a tiny piece of underwear covering the one spot Chrissy wanted to see.
She demanded Chrissy to sit up, she followed no objections. Y/N took the spot on the bed, laying herself down.
"you want to cum? Then ride my tits like a good girl and make yourself cum."
The look in Y/N's eyes weren't kidding. Chrissy was only going to cum if she did it herself. With a huff and a huge whine she straddled Y/N's chest.
Placing her clit against her right nipple, moaning at the feeling of pressure being added to her clit again. She rocked her hips slowly against her nipple, feeling it hardened underneath her.
"that's it baby. Ride me." Chrissy moaned as she held on to Y/N's arms, rocking her hips harder and faster. Pathetically humping her chest just to get an orgasm.
Chrissy never thought when she met Y/N that she would later be soaking her chest with her own wetness. The way she glided so easily against Y/N's skin because she soaked it. She felt herself getting closer but a part of her didn't want it to end. What if this was her only shot?
She looked into Y/N's eyes, seeing a look of desire and lust. Chrissy could barely hold on. Gasping to herself.
"I'm gonna cum. Please." She whined, head throwing back as she thrusted herself harder against Y/N, moaning as she felt her orgasm reaching it's breaking point.
Within seconds it shattered, she was spazzing on her chest, thighs shaking and her hips barely moving in a pace. Just aftershocks throwing her body against Y/N second after second.
Her body was glistened in sweat and her insides were on fire.
"you're so fucking gorgeous." Y/N said as she smiled. Watching Chrissy's body come down from her orgasm, sliding herself off. Seeing the streaks of wetness laying on Y/N's chest. She felt her eyes roll in the back of her head when Y/N swiped it on her finger and tasted it. Moaning at the taste of Chrissy.
Chrissy just needed to kiss her again, feel her lips move against hers. She leaned down and pecked her lips softly. Y/N smiled and sat up, cupping Chrissy's cheek and deepening the kiss.
Y/N was right, she'd never go back to Jason now.
Make A Deal
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Reader, Jason Carver x Reader, Eddie x Chrissy Cunningham, Chrissy x Jason
Synopsis: you catch your long term boyfriend, Eddie Munson, fucking the queen of Hawkins High, Chrissy Cunningham. A plan comes to mind when you spot Chrissy’s boyfriend and Eddie’s biggest enemy, Jason Carver.
Warnings: ANGST, cheating, smut, spitefulness, revenge, unhappy ending.
A/N: I have like 4 drafts of Eddie fics that I’ve started and 1 Vecna fic. Lmao pls help. This is basically a Jason Carver fic but I was feeling angsty and sad so I had to write it lmao. Also I haven’t proof read soooo…
Part Two
Tumblr media
Your nostrils flare and your eyebrows furrow, an anger starting to boil throughout you. Your heart was hurting like crazy from the sight before you but the rage you felt was even worse. Your doting, loving boyfriend was pounding into Chrissy fucking Cunningham. On the bench where you and him smoked weed. On the bench where you meet up when you skip classes and end up fucking instead. You quickly turn away from the two and walk out of the secluded forest with your fists clenched. A stray tear falls down your cheek which you quickly wipe away as you continue to walk past the basketball court, you weren’t about to cry over someone who had the audacity to cheat.
An idea hits your out of nowhere, a metaphorical lightbulb switching on above your head. You backtrack and walk into the basketball court, your eyes instantly focusing on Jason who was disgustingly sweaty from practice. As he turns he notices you stood there, a sight that is very unusual. You are constantly attached to the hip of ‘the freak’, so why the hell are you here and looking directly at him?
“What the hell do you want, weirdo?” Jason taunts, stepping away from the others to make his way over to you. “Freak’s not with you today?”
You huff at his response, already regretting this idea but the image of Chrissy and Eddie fucking burned in your mind and you knew you had to do something. “Actually I wanted to talk to you. Can you come outside for a second? I need to talk to you privately.”
Jason was baffled, a slight choked chuckle escaping lips before he motioned for you to lead the way. He was genuinely curious with what you needed to talk to him so badly about, it wasn’t everyday that you and him talked civilly. As soon as you both make it outside you open your mouth.
“Chrissy and Eddie are fucking.”
A frown etches it’s way into his face before he grabs you by the neck and pushes you against the building - hard. His hand squeezes tighter, choking you out as he grits his teeth and spitting words at you. “You think this is a fucking joke? You think you and your freak of a boyfriend can make a mockery out of me? He fucking wishes he could pull someone like Chrissy, poor guy had to settle with you.”
His words hit you harder than the grip he had on your neck. A choked sobbed escaped your plump lips, perhaps Jason was right. Maybe Eddie had always wanted Chrissy. Jason’s grip on your neck released slightly as he took in your reaction, he could see the absolute devastation and pain you were currently in. He backed away slightly before holding onto your shoulder gently.
“Hey,” a gentle whisper comes from Jason, a sound you thought you’d never hear. “I’m sorry that I hurt you…”
Instead of responding you wrap your arms around him and sob into his chest, not caring about the sweat. You need comfort, someone to hold you while the man you love is fucking someone else. “He promised me he wouldn’t hurt me! He said he loved me! Why is he doing this!”
Your screams of despair are muffled by Jason’s chest, his arms automatically wrap around you as he strokes your back softly. He still hasn’t grasped what you’re telling him. “What’s wrong, Y/N? What’s happened?”
“I told you!” You scream as you pull your face away from his chest and look directly into his eyes. “Eddie and Chrissy are fucking! In the woods…in our hang out spot…”
A fresh set of tears stream down your face, your eyes already puffy from crying. Jason seems to finally catch on, realising that you’re in fact telling the truth and the state your currently in is because of the betrayal. “I’m going to fucking kill him.”
Jason growls, his fists clenching against your back. He goes to push you away but you grab onto him, shaking your head. “Don’t. I…I have a plan.”
Jason’s blue eyes burn holes through you as he stares you down, you shuffle slightly from his intense gaze and look down. A timid mumble escapes from your lips, something that Jason had never seen from you before and oddly found endearing. “Speak up.”
“Let’s fuck. At Eddie’s. I want you to fuck me in his bed.”
Jason’s jaw drops, surely he hadn’t heard you correctly. You, the metalhead girlfriend of Eddie ‘the freak’ Munson, want him to fuck you? A choked laugh rumbles from his chest and he yet again grabs you by the neck tightly, “I said don’t fucking mess with me, freak!”
“I’m not!” You cry, trying to pry his veiny hands from you. “I want him to hurt. I want them to feel what I feel. Please, Jason.”
Jason’s hand releases from your neck as he takes a few steps back causing you to fall and gasp fro breath. God, you hate Jason, but you hated him less than Eddie at that minute. Your Eddie was supposed to protect you, to love you eternally and to never hurt you. He had promised he would never, you remember him telling you how you were it for him. He wanted it to just be you and him, and possible children in the future. You couldn’t understand why he had betrayed you in the most awful way.
“You’re serious about this?” Jason finally responds, his voice quieter as if he unsure whether to believe you. “I’m seriously going to kill that motherfucker.”
You remain silent on the floor for a second as a fresh wave of tears fall down your cheek. “After,” you manage to choke out. “Do whatever you want to him after. I need him to feel this type of pain, Jason. He needs to feel it.”
Jason looks at you, finally understanding your words and the seriousness behind them. He nods before offering you his hand to help you up. If you wanted this plan to work then you needed to get to Eddie’s asap.
Tumblr media
Thankfully, Eddie’s uncle had been out of town for work so there was no problem bringing Jason to his trailer. An awkward silence filled Eddie’s room as you both sat on Eddie’s bed with a considerable gap between you. Before today, you never would’ve guess that you’d be possibly having sex with Jason Carver. You go to speak but the words get caught in your throat and you eventually back down. How the hell are you supposed to do this?
“We need to hurry up if you want this plan to work,” Jason finally breaks the ice, turning to look at you. “Unless you’ve changed your mind and I’ll just beat the fuck out of that freak Munson.”
You shake your head frantically, you definitely hadn’t changed your mind. “No! I…can you start it? Please?”
Jason had never seen you look so shy and timid, butterflies erupting in his stomach as he watched you look down in your lap. His hand raises to your jaw and gently turns your head to face him, hesitating for a second before leaning in to kiss you. His lips are softer than Eddie’s, a foreign sensation that you oddly didn’t mind. You part your lips for him, wanting him to give you his tongue; you always enjoyed the feeling of Eddie’s tongue in your mouth. You moan gently as you feel him slip it past the seam of your lips. He tastes good - like the mint flavour from the gum he was chewing earlier on. Jason takes your hint and deepens the kiss, laying you down on the bed and hovers over you while his tongue plays with yours. You subtly grind your hips up into his, a soft grunt coming from the blonde at your actions.
Jason eagerly grinds his cock against your clothed pussy, the strain of his hard cock in his basketball shorts starts to hurt. You had never been so thankful to have been wearing a skirt until this very moment, you could feel the hardness of cock rubbing against your clit through your black lace panties. You whine in protest as he pulls his now swollen lips away from yours. He looks at you with nothing but lust and desire, his pupils blown wide and covering the majority of his usual baby blues. His chest heaves in need, in want. He wants you more than anything.
He brings his lips back down to yours with one more peck on the lips before he pulls away again, his lips now only lightly brushing against yours as he seductively whispers, “tell me what you want. Tell me where you need me.”
“Fingers,” you breathily answer. “Need your fingers in me, please.”
You bite your lip as you watch Jason smirk, his hands trailing down from your face to your chest. He stops at the swell of your breast, giving them a gentle squeeze – his cock twitches from the feeling of your braless, perky tits in his hands. “Fuck, baby. Can I take this off?” Jason tugs at your t-shirt.
Nodding, you allow him to pull the garment up over your head. He licks his lips and releases a puff of air at the sight of your bare breast. Your hardened nipples look so appetizing, Jason swallows thickly as he brings his face down and attaches his greedy mouth to your left nipple and gently wraps his mouth around it. He groans, flicking the hardened bud with his tongue as he roughly sucks on it before releasing it and repeating his actions on the right one.
His hand glides down your stomch, making sure to feel every inch of your soft skin before reaching for the end of your skirt. "Can I lift it up please? I really need to feel you."
You smile softly at him, gently caressing his face as you nod. He is so gentle and so respectful, nothing like the Jason Carver you thought you knew. You watch silently as he pulls the bottom of your skirt up; he swallows thickly and groans at the sight of the wet patch on your panties. Jason experimentally presses a finger against your clothed clit, letting out a breathy chuckle as he watches you ever so slightly buck your hips at the sensation. Lifting up a second finger he this time adds more pressure. Your chest rises and falls as you bite your lip - feeling extremely turned on. Jason smirks as she watches you grind your hips against his fingers, searching for more contact.
"I'm going to pull these down now, okay baby?" Jason rasps, his voice deep with arousal.
"Please."
You whimper. A quiet relieved sigh slipping past your lips as he roughly pulls your panties from you feeling the cool air of Eddie's trailer against your wetness. Jason kneels between your legs, his eyes searching your face for any discomfort before leaning down and spreading your lower lips with his index finger and thumb, getting a good look at your throbbing cunt.
"Fuck..." he whispers against you, his warm breath hitting your wetness as he speaks agains. "I'm just going to have a little taste, never seen such a pretty pussy before."
With that his tongue plunges into you, licking a long stripe from your hole to your needy clit.With a deep groan Jason hooks his arms underneath your thighs and pulls your pussy impossibly closer to his face. Your taste and smell was intoxicating, it made Jason regret being so horrible to you for all those years. If only he had known you tasted so fucking good. He couldn't believe that the freak would ever think of being with someone else, Jason was sure no one could compare to you - so sure that he had almost forgotten it was his girlfriend that Eddie cheated on you with. He almost didn't care about that anymore, he is too drunk on your pussy and you are all he can focus on.
Jason circles your swollen clit with his tongue before roughly sucking on it. Expertly his tongue licks up and down your sensitive pussy, moving side to side on your clit before going back down to your leaking entrance and slurping up your juices, fucking you with his tongue. Out of breath, Jason pulls away from your needy cunt and licks his lips, "you wanted my fingers, right babygirl?"
Without waiting for a response, Jason plunges two fingers into you, curling them up against your spongy wall. You moan loudly, clenching around his fingers as he pumps them in and out of you, all the while curling them into your g-spot. His thumb circles your sensitive clit, his eyes drinking in your every reaction. Your hips grind against his hand, your clit pressing harder onto his thumb and your legs fall open even wider to let him go deeper.
“That’s it, rub that little cunt on my hand," Jason taunts. He's enjoying this way more than he should. "So fucking tight, baby."
His words send you closer to your high; you can feel the pressure building up in your lower half and you grip onto Jason's wrist, guiding his movements just the way you like. Jason growls and fastens his pace, desperate to get you off like you deserve. With one last curl of his fingers you cum, your eyes tighten shut as you cry loudly in pure bliss. Your juices squirt all over Jason's arm and Eddie's bed - something that has never happened before.
“Oh fuck, yes” you cry out, tears brimming in your eyes as you almost sob. Your walls clench around his digits, sucking them in so that he can no longer take them out.
"Oh yes, baby," Jason chuckles huskily. "That's it, squirt for me. Dirty little girl, you're such a good girl."
Jason helps you ride through it, telling you how much of a good girl you are until he finally pulls his fingers out of you and very gently rubs your aching clit. Your thighs shake, your whole body trembling at the sensation and the comedown - the hottest sight that Jason has ever fucking seen. "Fuck, I need to fuck you right now, baby."
Jason roughly pulls his basketball shorts down so that they're bunched at his knees, and quickly plunges his thick, weeping cock into your sensitive cunt. He doesn't wait for you to recover - desperate for the feeling of your tight pussy around him. Jason holds his breath as he pushes himself balls deep inside you, you cry out in both pain and pleasure. Your pussy is still so sensitive from your orgasm but Jason's cock is stretching to the max and you love it.
"Christ, I don't know what Munson was thinking," Jason groans, not even thinking about what he is saying; already obsessed with the feeling of you around him. "You feel so fucking good, babe. Best cunt I've ever felt, and Munson goes and throws it away. His loss."
His words sting. Your heart clenches tightly, the image of what you saw comes flooding back - the love of your life being intimate with someone that wasn't you. You shake the thoughts away and growl, "Fuck me hard. I want you to ruin me."
Jason grasps your thighs in his hands and pushes them up, making them rest against your chest. As he bends you in half, he bumps his cock into your sweet spot.
“Right there,” you moan, arching your back from pleasure.
With a growl Jason repeats his actions, thrusting into yout sweet spot as you instructed. Getting lost in you, Jason grunts and squeezes your thighs firmly, surely leaving bruises as he pounds into you hard. His thrusts speed up, the sound of skin hitting skin soon echo throughout Eddie's room, and probably throughout the whole trailer. In fact, the enitre trailer is probably rocking from how intensly he's fucking you. His balls slap against your ass with every hard thrust he gives you. Jason is determined to make you see stars, to forget about the freak who hurt you.
"Y/N?" A quiet voice breaks you out of your bliss. How you heard it you'll never know. Your eyes open and you gasp gently as you realise it's Eddie - whose eyes were full of tears and hands shaking. His kicked puppy look almost had you forgetting what had happened, but Jason was quick to remind you.
Jason turns but doesn't pull out of you, "Munson, you're finally done fucking my girlfriend?"
It's Eddie's turn to gasp this time, his eyes looking straight at you and finally realising that you know. That this thing you are doing with Jason is nothing more than a revenge plan. Because you know that Eddie will forever have to sleep in the same bed and room that you had fucked his enemy in. And he couldn't say he didn't deserve it. Falling to his knees, Eddie sobs loudly knowing that he's lost you. He's lost the one and only good thing in his life just because he was high and out of control.
Jason finally pulls out of you, pulling his shorts up and grabbing Eddie by his shirt and pushing him to the ground. He raises his fist to punch him but you stop, grabbing his wrist and shaking your head as he turns to you. Eddie looks at you hopefully as Jason begins to protest but you shush him, putting on your t-shirt before grabbing Eddie's guitar which was mounted on the wall. You raise it above your head before smashing it on the ground repeatedly; the neck of it snapping along with the strings.
"That's more painful for him than punching him," you blankly state to Jason who had now let go of Eddie and stares at you in amazement. "Lets get out of here. I can't bare to be in this dump any longer."
Eddie watches as you and Jason leave, the pain in his heart becoming unbearable. He didn't give a fuck about his guitar in that moment, he knew he deserved it and worse. All he knew was that he couldn't bare to live without you; to never be able to wake up with you every day and hear your laugh. You were the only person who ever gave him a real chance and he had let you down. The memories of you will end with him.
Part 3
Part 4
April 1986
Falling in love with Eddie Munson was easy. He made it so incredibly simple. The spring production rehearsals were in full swing and you got the lead role. It meant long hours in the theatre with your favorite metalhead, sharing snacks, laughing at inside jokes and telling deep dark secrets. You had started to spend equal amounts of time at the Hellfire table, making quick friends with Jeff and Gareth, you grew to love and protect the freshmen as your own as well. Even though you had no interest in playing DnD with them, Eddie always invited you to sit in on their campaigns. Chrissy and the other jocks started to distance themselves from you on the days you would decide to sit with them, but it started to bother you less as you made more meaningful connections with people who liked you for you. The last 5 months caught you off guard. Things seemed like they were normal, better than normal even; until you went home alone after school and remembered that Eddie had someone else keeping his bed warm. Chrissy was there. Your best friend stealing your other best friend away from you and nobody knew.
Things between you and Chrissy were tense only on one end. The blonde always greeted you in the hallway and passed you notes in class, blissfully unaware of the heartache her new romance had caused you. But when you were in a group, she seemed to unconsciously take value to others in the group. Eddie and Chrissy had started their relationship in private, and you were their sworn protector. Even when you didn’t necessarily want them, you got all the gory details of how Chrissy let Eddie feel her up for the first time, or how Eddie is a lot more well endowed than many had previously thought. It killed you on the inside, but throwing yourself into the spring show gave you a healthy distraction. Cheer kept you just close enough to Chrissy to keep up the feeling that things were not falling apart between the two of you, but you could focus on what you needed to do on the field. It felt good to put effort into new friends and reignite passions, even though the love the two of your best friends shared would always take up a small residence in the back of your mind.
It was three weeks until prom. You were seriously considering not going, but you knew you would regret not going, so you decided that you would make an appearance, likely not a sober one, but you would show up. You waltzed past the posters in the cafeteria, and the ballot box being guarded by the student council, stationed around it like soldiers. You knew who would be winning each crown, there wasn’t even a point in voting for anyone else. You would be there to cheer Chrissy on for the third year in a row of winnings. Like clockwork, she would accept her crown, dance with whatever meathead got crowned king, and then help her fix her mascara that ran from her happy and “surprised” tears. You rolled your eyes thinking about it; but you were snapped out of your trance when you heard the blonde call your name. You reluctantly wave to her and the other ponytails looking expectantly at you and you start to cross the cafeteria. You are interrupted by a mop of light brown hair and a gleaming smile.
“Hey! I’ve been looking everywhere for you!” Gareth greets. You instantly relax as your new friend puts his arm over your shoulder and leads you to the Hellfire table. You look over Gareth’s shoulder to see the cheer table staring daggers at you. Chrissy looks disappointed, and the rest of the table looks mildly disgusted. Chrissy understood why you would hang out with the freaks but she still didn’t necessarily approve. Your image was important to her as you continued to be associated with her. You look at Chrissy apologetically, but happily turn and walk with Gareth.
“It’s good to see you, Gareth” you smile up at him.
“How are rehearsals going? You getting excited for the big show?” He remembered, and he seemed genuinely interested.
“Yeah I guess so! I’m sort of ready for it to be over so we can push through exams and get out of here.”
You slide out your usual chair at the hellfire table, across from Gareth and beside Eddie at the head of the table.
“I thought you were eating with Chrissy today?” Eddie questions.
“Good to see you too, Ed…” you mumble.
“No, it’s just… I wanted you to see if anyone had asked her to prom yet” Eddie leaned over and whispered to you.
Gareth rolled his eyes. Eddie had recently let him in on his secret relationship with Chrissy, since he was missing or late to more and more hellfire meetings and had been mentally absent during their band practices. He needed someone else within the group to be able to cover for him when you couldn’t, and Eddie trusted Gareth with his life.
“Why the hell wouldn’t she be going with you?” you snorted. You knew that Eddie and Chrissy weren’t necessarily public, but you would never think that she would brush him off like that.
“I don’t know… because I’m well… me” Eddie looked to the ground. You grabbed his hand and he instantly turned red. Your skin burned when you touched him. It felt like it had been so long since you had any physical contact which made you feel empty. Eddie was always one to give you a hug, or hold your hand or pick you up and carry you down to the theatre when you were running late. He was a tactile person and it took you until now to realize how much you really missed the way things were.
“Eddie Munson you listen to me, anyone would be lucky to go to prom with you” You turned pink as you reassured him. Gareth noticed and tried to hide his smirk underneath his hands. You kicked him under the table. You wish you were the lucky person that he would take, but you know that he would soon rather die than be seen with anyone else but Chrissy.
“ I don’t know” Eddie questions as he shyly pulls his hand away from yours. Both of you felt cold after the loss of contact. “I just really like her and I really want her to be with me, you know, not in secret… sometimes I think she’s ashamed of me.”
“Well, that’s her problem then, isn’t it?” Gareth snaps. He was so tired of watching Eddie stomp all over your heart when he knew that Chrissy was going to do the same to him eventually.
Both yours and Eddie's heads snapped to look at him. He was never one to question anything from Eddie, but he looked bothered. He stood up and left the table without a word.
“What’s up with him?” You chide. Eddie shrugs and picks at his pretzels.
“Hey, I was wondering if you could give Chrissy a note for me? I think I’m gonna ask her to go to prom with me today.”
“Ed, shouldn’t you just go up and talk to her? She’s your girlfriend for fucks sake.” You were getting sick of being put in the middle. Neither of them understood how much their romance crushed you.
“Whatever, I thought you would wanna help me, seeing as you’re my best friend and all, but I’ll just humiliate myself then”. He shoved his chair backwards and with a huff, he stormed out of the cafeteria. Eddie was always one for theatrics. Usually it was entertaining, but this felt more like a toddler’s temper tantrum. You rolled your eyes and flipped him off as he left.
Eddie’s departure caught the eye of Chrissy. She looked at you quizzically and you gestured for her to follow him and rolled your eyes. She discreetly got up and trotted out the exit Eddie had just used. The back exit opened up to the field outside. You could see Eddie’s figure heading out to the bleachers - the place where you often went to to get out of O'Donnell's class, or smoke after a particularly stressful rehearsal. But it wasn’t sacred to you two anymore. It was their spot now. You could see Chrissy’s figure following behind him. You took the rest of Eddie’s pretzels and ate them with a huff.
Tumblr media
The final night of the play was here. Your last hurrah as the lead and the last show you may ever be a part of. Hawkins for sure does not have a thriving theatre community, so who knows what other opportunities you might have. You didn’t want this to be the last time though, it made your heart hurt and you wished this night would never end.  You had spent your time before curtain warming up with Eddie. He could tell you were nervous.
“Sweetheart, I am telling you, you have nothing - and I mean nothing to worry about. You have been crushing this whole show run. All you have to do is go on stage and do your thing! And if anything bad happens, I tell the booth to blackout and I cut your mic!” he giggles. You didn’t find it as funny. You paced back and forth across the small stage, arms shaking and your breath hitching. None of your friends had been there to see your performance yet. You weren’t expecting many people, at least Chrissy, but she hadn’t said a word about your show or if she was coming. You pacing was driving Eddie wild. He hated seeing you so bothered.
“Y/N just relax” Eddie grabbed you by your shoulders and your whole body went stiff. Your breath caught in your chest and your heart sank to the floor. You could feel his breath on your face; you hadn’t been this close in a long time. Without being able to help yourself, your eyes flicker from his to his lips. All you would have to do is lean up and your mouth could be on his. His gaze lowered to your lips as well. You wanted to give in so badly, you wanted to kiss him, to feel like his again - but you couldn’t do that to your friend. You broke his contact and took a step back. Eddie cleared his throat and looked at you expectantly.
“Did Chris say when she was coming to the show?” You ask, clearing your throat in an attempt to clear the thick, tense air. Eddie’s gaze went from soft and longing to hardened. Eddie looked to the floor and shifted his weight.
“I-uh I don’t know… I haven’t talked to her in the past couple of days.” Your eyes doubled in size.
“What do you mean? What happened that day after lunch?”
“I don’t want to talk about it” Eddie turned to stalk back behind the wings of the stage. You pulled his arm back and turned him towards you.
“Eddie, please. What happened?”
“She said she didn’t want to go to prom with me, okay? Are you happy now? Is that what you fucking wanted to hear?” His voice boomed through your skull. His eyes were glassed over, dangerously close to spilling tears, like yours have already started to do. He had never talked to you like that.
“Wha-what do you mean?”
“Oh don’t be so naive. You’re fucking happy that Chrissy doesn’t want to be seen with me. This is what you wanted the whole time, right?
“What the fuck are you talking about?” you whisper to him, tears free flowing. “Why the fuck are you coming at me now when you just wanted to kiss me? I know you felt that too and you can’t deny that to me” You yell at him with a shove. You were shaking. You wanted to pour your heart out to him now, tell him how angry you were and admit that maybe you were happy that things weren’t picture perfect for them. But it wasn’t worth it now.
“You know what, Eddie? You both deserve each other. Have a great show” you turn away from him, panting. You felt like you were going to fall to the ground because your legs felt like jello. Eddie grabbed you by the shoulders. You both looked into each other's eyes, glassy with emotion. For the first time in what seems like forever, you could not tell what Eddie was thinking. His eyes clouded with conflict, with anger, but with something else you couldn’t quite decipher. His lips quivered and his cheeks were flushed.
You felt like your head was going to explode. What was going on? You felt like all of your weight, your body and soul were all dependent on Eddie holding you up. In one swift movement he pulled you in and his lips were on yours. Your whole body tensed, your eyes remained on his face. It was so wrong. This wasn’t supposed to happen like this. But as much as your mind was screaming at you, his lips felt perfect on yours, like they were made to be there. Your heart was on fire and you felt like you might crumble into tiny pieces. But this is not how it was supposed to be.
You pull away and look at him. His eyes were beautiful. The glow of his chocolate irises were back. He looked at you like you were his world, but he looked guilty.
You slapped him across the cheek. You turned around and you paced back to the dressing room, leaving Eddie there with a burning cheek and a hole in his own heart. He walked backstage.
“Fuck!” He yelled and punched the cinderblock wall, making his knuckles bleed. He trudged back up to the booth to prepare for the show, the feel of your lips on his lingered on his  like a tattoo.
You took your final bows with heavy applause. Your heart felt warm and finally you felt like things were falling into place for you. The stage is where you belonged and where you felt the most like yourself. You had almost forgotten that you were standing in the very spot where Eddie Munson kissed you for the first time three hours prior. He shouldn’t have done that. You shook the memory out of your head. He didn’t matter right now, this was your time. You gestured up to the booth for their applause and there your gaze met Eddie’s. He was beaming, both dimples showing from the sides of his cheeks. For a moment, you saw your proud best friend. You saw the boy you made friends with in seventh grade art class and you saw the boy that came and knocked on your door to see if you wanted to go to the arcade with him. You beamed back at him, in hopes that he felt those same feelings as well. You eyes cast down to the audience and you searched for the other face you were so wishing to see. Chrissy was nowhere to be found. Instead, you saw another mop of shorter dusty brown curls and four other hellfire shirts to accompany him. Gareth whooped when you took your final bow. Your heart soared. You finally found your moment.
The Hellfire club waited for you in the hallway outside of the auditorium. Jeff and Gareth each wielding bouquets of flowers to give you. The freshmen were buzzing about the performance. You ran to them and embraced them in a big group hug. You thought your face was going to break from how wide you were smiling.
“Holy crap, Y/N! You were amazing!” Mike gushed.
“That actually made me regret not going to more plays here” Gareth laughed and handed you the bouquet in his hands.
“Thanks guys. I am so happy you’re here” You were so relieved to be telling the truth from the bottom of your heart. It seemed like forever since you could be totally honest with yourself.
“Dude, we wouldn’t have missed it” Jeff offered his bouquet to him and you gave both older boys kisses on the cheek.
“Did I ever tell you guys that you’re the best?” You exclaimed, while you brought them in for another group hug.
“I’m just gonna run and grab my things from the dressing room and then we should go grab something to eat! I am starved!” You turned and trotted towards the stage door.
“Hey, Y/N wait!” Gareth ran up to your side
“What’s up?” Gareth shifted his weight and looked to the floor.
“I want you to know that we - I think you’re great.”
“Thanks, Gareth” you wrapped your hand around his wrist and gave it a squeeze.
“You deserve better than you’re getting, sweetheart.” Your smile faltered.
“What do you-”
“You know what I mean, Y/N…” Gareth implored. You nod.
“I know that I am not your first choice, but I was wondering if you wanted to go to prom together? I promise I am not in like love with you or anything, and I want to go with you as a friend, but I don’t want to see you go alone, or worse go with friends you don’t like or don’t show up at all because I think you could win pro-” You cut Gareth off by giving him a tight hug and when you pull away you give him a kiss to his cheek. Your eyes wet with gratitude.
“Gareth, I would love to go to prom with you” Gareth lets a long breath out and laughs.
“Okay, great. That’s really great… cool” You squeezed his shoulder and turned towards the door again.
“I’m gonna go grab my stuff and then we can talk more about plans over some food” You offered.
“Okay cool! Awesome! And Y/N? We’re all really proud of you. You shone out there.”
Gareth retreats back to the group to wait for you. Eddie had now joined the group, his face looked hardened. Why did you just give Gareth a kiss on the cheek? He knew, like him, that you were a tactile person. You showed your appreciation in physical ways, but he had never seen you be so close to Gareth. It bothered him more that it should. “What was that about?” Eddie interrogated.
“Nothing man, I was just congratulating her.”
“Did she say anything about me?” Eddie pressed.
“...No? Why would she?” The rest of the group snickered at Gareth’s remarks. Eddie turned away. Not only was his mind racing, desperate to talk to you, but now he was embarrassed in front of his own group of friends. He couldn’t take being in the same room with you right now. He needed time to think.
“Alright, I’m going then.” Eddie stalked off to the double doors.
“Wait! You aren’t going to come out to celebratory dinner with us?” Dustin whined.
“Not this time. I got shit to take care of” Eddie retorted.
“Probably another hot secret date” Jeff poked at Gareth and they both laughed.
Eddie grumbled as he turned and opened the door to the parking lot, a cigarette already out of his pocket and in his mouth. He needed to find Chrissy.
Tumblr media
It was 11:36pm. Chrissy had gotten home just an hour ago from an outing with Tiffany and Sarah. Her stomach was in knots, she was afraid her reputation was slipping. They had both made a comment about you sitting with the Hellfire club recently and she instantly went into defensive mode. She couldn’t handle them talking shit about you, her best friend and her boyfriend. The girls grilled Chrissy about why she had been being so nice towards the Hellfire seniors and started to put two and two together.
“Oh my god, did that Freak Munson put a spell on you or something when you went for that deal?” Sarah sneered.
“Holy shit! That would make sense as to why Y/N is spending so much time with him too. I heard she sucked his soul out of his-”
“Okay enough!” Chrissy boomed. She could feel her chest caving in. She hated hearing people talk about you that way, but she hated the idea of you and Eddie being together even more.
“He was really sweet and friendly to me when I went over to his trailer. He seems like a really nice guy. And Y/N is one of us, she wouldn’t do that with him.” Tiffany and Sarah sat with their mouths ajar, unwilling to believe that Chrissy would ever talk back to them like that.
“Oookay, Chris. Didn’t know you were like, in love with him” Tiffany teased.
“Ugh, as if. Let’s just drop it…” Chrissy mumbled.
She couldn’t sacrifice her already jeopardized reputation by being seen in the auditorium, where both you and Eddie would be. She wouldn’t be able to help herself around him. Her feelings towards the metalhead, although still conflicted, were growing stronger. She didn’t know how much longer she could hold out in keeping this a secret if she was going to actively be seen in public with him.
She had plopped onto her perfectly made bed with a new Danielle Steele novel when she heard a knock at her window. She looked up and her face contorted into the most beautiful look of surprise to see her favorite curly haired metalhead at the window. He looked like he lost his lucky DnD dice. She opened the window quickly and stood out of the way to let him stumble into her room.
“Eddie? What’s wrong, darling?”
“Are your parents home?” he grabbed her waist and began to back her into her wall.
“Ummm no, they’re out” Chrissy breathed. Eddie pressed his lips to her neck, moved his right hand up her torso as his left hand flicked the lock on her door.
You had tried to call Chrissy a few times after you had returned from the diner with the hellfire club. You were hurt and wanted to know where she had been. But most importantly, you wanted to tell her what happened between you and Eddie. Although you also felt your friendship slipping, this was something you couldn’t keep from her. You had showered your show hair and makeup off and had gotten yourself into comfortable pjs. The flowers the boys had got you sat neatly in a vase on your nightstand; they made you smile every time you looked at them. You had just closed your eyes and surrendered to sleep when your phone rang. You answered and you heard the cheery voice that you had been waiting for.
“Hey babe! How was the show?” So she did remember, but just decided not to show up.
“It was great Chris, but it would have been a lot better if you were actually there.” You tried not to sound angry, because in the long run, you really wanted her there. She hurt you more than made you mad.
“Yeah, I’m really sorry, I had this thing that I couldn’t get out of with Tiffany and Sarah. I’m sorry, you know I’ll be at the next one” She offered.
“What if that was the last one, Chris? You know what, I would rather not do this over the phone… Can I come over?”
“Oh.” Her voice dropped. “Yeah, Okay.”
“I’ll be there in 10.”
Tumblr media
You knock on Chrissy’s door. Unlike her previous visitor, you knew you were always welcome at her house. She was quick to open the door. She looked perplexed, worried even. It wasn’t often that you saw her being anything but her shiny happy self. You knew something was very wrong. She knew too.
“Hi.” You offer
“Hi… come in” she opens the door wider to let you into her foyer. She holds her cardigan tight to her chest. You follow her up her stairs and into her bedroom. It felt so familiar but there was a tension that made this feel foreign. You sat yourself on the end of her bed while she perched herself on her vanity stool. Even though you were facing each other, you found it hard to make eye contact with each other.
“I need to tell you someth-”
“I feel like we need to-”
You both started talking at the same time and with an awkward chuckle, you stopped talking so she could speak.
“Eddie came over after the play” Chrissy whispered. You clenched your jaw.
“Oh, I couldn’t tell from the numerous hickies on your neck, Chris.” you poked. She wrapped her cardigan around her small frame tighter and kept her stoic expression.
“Eddie told me that you kissed him at the theatre” she said, her tone hard. You shook your head in disbelief.
“Is that what he really told you?” You pressed. She nodded her head, not being able to make eye contact with you.
“Huh. So what if I told you that he kissed me? That we had a fight over the fact that you won’t be seen in public with him? That he accused me of being happy that my two best friends in the whole fucking world were destroying each other, all while they pretend that I don’t exist anymore and just keep shitting on each others’ feelings, leaving me in the middle of this whole mess?” you started to raise your voice. You couldn’t believe that Eddie would ever lie about what happened, and you really couldn’t believe that Chrissy would believe him.
“That sounds like a real easy way to shift the blame, Y/N. You kissed my boyfriend” Chrissy snaps, tears threatening to spill.
“Bullshit, Chrissy! He kissed me! And I still don’t fucking know why! He kissed me, I pulled away, I slapped him in his stupid fucking face and I left.” You screamed. Your tears flowing freely. This had been the single most confusing night of your life. You thought that the two people you loved the most couldn’t betray you more than they already had.
“Well, that’s not the story that Eddie told me” She whispered.
“Yeah… it seems like Eddie told you that story all over your body, Chrissy” she gasped and lunged for her bedroom door. Your face twisted in disgust. He used you because he was mad at Chrissy, and the he used her to lessen the blow.
“Get out.” She sobbed.
“You tell me to leave right now, you are telling me that you believe Eddie’s word over mine - fuck, not even Eddie’s, a stupid fucking boy over my word. Me. Your best friend. The one who has been there for you since forever.” The air was thick. Both of your eyes were red and chests heaving.
“I do. I believe him.” Chrissy gasped.
You cackled as you stood up. You huffed out of her room and bound down her stairs. You opened and slammed her front door shut and climbed into your car. You sped out of her driveway and rounded the corner. When you got out of eyeshot from her house, you turned off your car, slammed your hands on your steering wheel and screamed at the top of your lungs.
You wanted to go see Eddie. You wanted him to tell you that it would all be okay. You wanted him to wipe your tears away and you wanted him to hold you with the same passion he did at the theatre. You wanted him to kiss you and tell you that you were right and she was wrong; but you also knew that she would be calling him right now and she would be getting the comfort you so desperately needed. You turned your ignition and started back to your house.
The next weeks of school seemed to bleed together. You felt numb. You had no play, no Chrissy and no Eddie. Every other day, Gareth would meet you in the library to eat lunch with you. You were so thankful for his friendship. You didn’t have the heart to tell him what happened with Eddie and Chrissy; knowing that it would cause yet another rift within their tight group. He also thought that it was best to keep the fact that the two of you were going to prom together between the two of you to prevent the same thing; But, he knew that Chrissy had pushed you to the side. You had secretly thought that she was waiting for a reason to ditch you as a friend, seeing as you weren’t what Chrissy envisioned as a perfect person to put on her social resume. You knew that the cheer girls were starting to treat her differently because you were friends and you didn’t subscribe to the jock way of life. Gareth was there to listen through it all, and although your heart was broken, it was comforting to know that you still had a friend that was willing to help you put the pieces back together. You were grateful that one of the biggest nights of the year was going to be spent with him.
May 1986
Your preparations had begun as prom week came. You took Gareth shopping for a new shirt and tie.
“Are you sure I don’t need like, a tux or something?” he questioned.
“Do either of us look like we are fancy or rich enough to be tux people?” you joked.
“Fair enough.”
“You are going to look awesome in whatever we find!” you praised. Gareth beamed back at you.
You walked through starcourt mall arm in arm. The sting from the past couple of weeks had become a dull ache and you started to appreciate the little things again. You had been bold enough to take your seat at the hellfire table last Friday and although Eddie looked at you quizzically, he didn’t say anything. It seemed like there was a silent agreement between the two of you, that you were both going to put what happened at the show behind you. As much as you both wanted to though, neither of you could forget. You both remembered each time you looked into each other’s eyes. Your conversations had begun to pick up again, they were surface level and short, but you were happy for the small sense of normalcy. You wondered if Chrissy did tell Eddie about the conversation the two of you had. But in your growth you decided that you didn’t need to know that, and worrying over it was just going to cause you more stress than it was worth.
As you and Gareth passed through the food court, a pair of chocolatey brown eyes fixed on your figure. Eddie had posted up at the mall with Steve Harrington, the former King of Hawkins High and adult friend to many of the Hellfire freshmen.
“Dude, you gotta relax.” Steve warned. Eddie’s jaw had instantly tightened and his body had stiffened when he had seen you and Gareth walking through the mall. Why the hell were you out with him?
“Why is she here with him? Why is she holding him like that?” Eddie sneered.
“Is… Is Eddie Munson Jealous? I thought you were boning the hottest girl in school?”
“Yeah boning. But we’re also dating and she doesn’t want anyone to know that”
“Shit, dude” Steve gulped.
“Yeah… Shit.” Eddie wished he had natural charm like Steve. Maybe it would make it easier for Chrissy to like him. He hated that he was questioning his whole person because of a stupid girl. But he really thought that he liked her. But how could she like him if she didn’t even want to be seen in public with him. Eddie ran his fingers through his hair, frustrated, overwhelmed and wanting to burn starcourt mall down if it meant that you wouldn’t be here with Gareth anymore.
You found Gareth a satin button up shirt and he stole a lavender bowtie that matched the color of your dress. You were finally laughing and joking faintly like you used to. It made Gareth’s heart soar. He cared greatly for you, but knew that your heart belonged to Eddie. It never stopped belonging to him, even if you told him repeatedly that you didn’t have feelings for the Hellfire leader. Even though he was hoping you weren’t going home with him on prom night, Gareth was more than happy to be taking you.
Tonight was the night. Eddie was sure that everyone in his graduating class was stirring with anticipation and excitement for what was going to be the best night of their lives. Eddie wasn’t as optimistic. He had put on his best black jeans (the ones with no holes in them) and was sitting on his bed, lazily strumming his guitar with a lit joint hanging out of his mouth while he waited for his wet curls to come to life. He didn’t want to go anymore. Chrissy had ensured the fact that she was going with Jason Carver meant nothing but keeping up appearances and that she would save a dance with him once she was crowned prom queen. Eddie felt like a charity case and had been feeling so increasingly often lately, Chrissy only daring to talk to him through notes left in his locker, or going to their hiding spot during their class breaks. Eddie was sure that he wanted to be in love with her. But when he kissed Chrissy, it didn’t feel like it did when he kissed you. He was so confused. Your relationship was finally amicable again, and he had the girl that he had been chasing after for years. But he was scared to see you tonight because he was worried he was going to mess everything up. He could be in love with Chrissy, but it seemed like Chrissy might not love him back. But maybe you did. Eddie let out a loud groan and flopped back onto his bed. He finished his joint and put on his burgundy dress shirt and put his arms through his vest. He put on his freshly polished rings and toed on his reeboks. He reluctantly started his van and began his drive to Hawkins High.
Gareth picked you up at 7 o’clock sharp. You answered the door with a bright smile and his face lit up the dusk behind him.
“Wow, girl. You look amazing!” Gareth looked you up and down. Your lavender sleeves landed just off of your shoulders, highlighting the pearls that rested on your collar bone. Your tiered skirt flowed and shimmered beautifully with the light.
“Says you! I told you you didn’t need to get a tux!” you slap him on the shoulder. To your surprise Gareth had showed up in a full tuxedo, sporting the shirt and tie the two of you had picked out.
“Yeah I know but my mom was so excited that I was going that she went out and bought me one anyway” You both laughed as you turned to take your polaroid camera off of the entryway table.
“Let's take a picture to commemorate the occasion” you tease. The two of you place your cheeks together and smile for the camera. The light flashes and you both giggle. You were so excited to be spending an evening with your friend.
“Jeff gonna meet us there?”
“One step ahead of you!” You heard from Gareth’s truck. Jeff stuck his head out of the back and gave you a huge smile and a wave. You laughed as you closed the door behind the two of you. Tonight was going to be a good night.
Chrissy had stationed herself at Tiffany’s directly after school to prepare for what was going to be the best night of her life. Sarah had snuck a bottle of champagne from her mother’s wine cellar and by 6pm, Chrissy could feel her own pulse in her head. She felt beautiful, she looked beautiful, but even her baby pink slip dress could not hide the insecurity on her face. The stakes were high and all she wanted was everything to go the way she wanted. Her glossed lips sank another flute of champagne while they waited for Jason and his posse to show up in the limo.
When you arrived, the Hawkins gym was decorated with tinsel and adorned with snack and drink tables on the opposite side of the stage. Your stomach fluttered at the excitement of being at your senior prom with some of the people you loved the most. You grab some punch and you Gareth and Jeff sit. Your head was on a swivel looking for a beautiful blonde, or a mop of brown curls, but to no avail. You took a big sigh and shook out your hands. Tonight was going to be a good night, you repeated to yourself. No one was going to ruin this for you.
“Wanna dance?” Gareth held his hand out to you. You gladly grabbed it and let him sweep you out to the dancefloor. He spun you and you laughed. Any thoughts of anyone else dissipated as you laughed and danced with your best friend.
Chrissy entered the gym in awe, teetering on her pumps, and brain fuzzy from the champagne. It was her night for a win and she knew that. She walked arm in arm with Jason, a smile plastered wide and eyes full of expectation. Her eyes faltered when she saw you smiling and laughing with your date, she didn’t remember his name. She longed to give you a hug and apologize. She wanted to dance and laugh with you, but she knew that now wasn’t the time. She needed to focus. Tonight was her night.
Eddie trudged into the gym, head already aching from the synth pop being played out of the large speakers. He grabbed a small flask out of his back pocket and took a swig. He sauntered over to the punch bowl and grabbed a cup, eyes scanning for two women. He found neither. Who he did find was his hellfire clubmates sitting at a table on the outskirts of the gym. Eddie tramps to them.
“Who let the freshmen in here?”
“Your guess is as good as mine” Jeff offers as he shakes Eddie’s hand “Looking good Ed. I didn’t know you even knew what a dress shirt was”
“Ha ha… I feel like shit. How long do we have to be here for?” Eddie whines
“Dude no one is making you stay! So have some fun with your friends would you?” Dustin scolds. Eddie scowls as he sinks into a chair at the round table. He immediately senses your absence. He looks around inquisitively.
“Where’s Y/N?” He asks. Jeff nods towards you on the dancefloor and Eddie’s heart stops. You looked absolutely radiant. He felt his hands get clammy and his chest got tight. You looked so happy and carefree. He missed seeing you like this, his girl the way he remembers you the best. He smiles to himself when he hears you laugh.
“Gareth, stop spinning me, I'm gonna throw up!”
His smile faded. Gareth? You were here with Gareth? He saw the mop head holding your hands and laughing with you. Suddenly, Eddie felt sick to his stomach. He could feel his pulse in his ears and he saw red. Jeff saw Eddie’s gaze harden.
“Eddie, don’t.” Jeff warns. “She’s having a really good time.”
Eddie didn’t respond. He took the flask out of his pocket and took a long swig. As he put it away, he stood up, vision locked on your dancing figures. Jeff sighed and put his head in his hands. Dustin and Mike looked at him confused. Jeff shook his head at them, implying that they didn’t want to know.
Eddie sauntered up to Gareth and grabbed his shoulder. Your smile faded as Gareth turned around to face Eddie.
“Hey, can we talk?” Eddie seethed through gritted teeth. Gareth looked at you apologetically.
“I’ll be right back okay?” He squeezed your hand and let Eddie guide him out of the gym. You were left in the middle of the dancefloor, too stunned to move or say anything. Dustin came to your side and asked if you wanted to sit back down with the club. You nodded, dazed, but followed after the two boys into the hallway instead.
Eddie pushed Gareth into the hallway and grabbed onto his lapels. You ducked around the corner so you were within earshot and close enough to help Gareth if he needed it.
“What the fuck are you doing Gareth?”
“What are you talking about, Munson?” Gareth pushed Eddie off and he began to smooth out his jacket.
“Why are you here with her?”
“What, like you were going to ask her to go with you?” Gareth challenged. Eddie looked at him dumbfounded. “Look, Eddie. If you really cared about her, you would let her have a good time tonight. You’re too busy with Chrissy lately anyway so I don’t know why this is suddenly such a big deal…”
Eddie clenched his fists and stalked towards Gareth. You covered your mouth to prevent the two from hearing your gasp.
“That’s my girl… you’re here with my-”
“Oh shut the hell up, Munson! She’s not your girl! Your girl is here with Jason fucking Carver. The guy that has been tormenting us for fucking years! Get your head out of your ass and stop playing with Y/N. She isn’t yours.” Gareth yelled. Eddie wracked out a sob and turned away from his friend. Gareth’s stomach sank and he watched his friend unravel in the hallway.
“I didn’t ask her here romantically, Eddie.” Gareth offered. “I care about her a lot, but I know that she doesn’t like me. I know exactly who she wants to be here with.” Gareth bores into Eddie, only hoping that their conversation will knock some sense into him. You slip back into the gym and sit with the hellfire club, mind racing thinking about what you just heard.
“If you’ll excuse me, I am going to continue to keep having fun with my friend.” Gareth stepped closer to Eddie and clapped him on the shoulder. “Get your shit together, Munson, and then try and enjoy yourself for once.” With that, Eddie was left alone in the hallway. He pulled at the roots of his hair, and let a string of profanities leave his mouth. It was better than punching a wall like last time.
Gareth returned to the gym and sat next to you with a smile, reassuring you everything was fine. Gareth whispered in your ear, telling you he wasn’t going to let anyone ruin this night for you or him and that it was time to have fun and forget about everything happening outside of this night. You couldn’t agree more. You wrapped your arms around his neck and gave him a thankful hug. He laughed as the two of you positioned yourselves towards the stage as the principal announced the prom king and queen would be crowned shortly.
Eddie slithered back into the gym, his arms crossed and a grimace glued on his face. He saw Chrissy and although his heart should have skipped a beat, it did nothing. She looked beautiful, gorgeous even. But she wasn’t you. But you made it clear, and Gareth made it clear. You weren’t his and you didn’t owe him anything. You deserved to have a good night and as much as he wanted to take you away and drive off with you, he knew that couldn’t happen. So he would settle for his dance in secret, and the potential for some action after Chrissy got her ten minutes of fame.
As the microphone squealed and the gym quieted, Chrissy shifted in her chair restlessly. Her dress felt too tight, and Jason felt too close. She wanted the boy that made her feel the prettiest. She wanted the boy who would do anything for her to be beside her. She wanted to dance with the boy who told her that he adored her. Her eyes scanned around the gym and she saw him lingering against the back wall. She sent him a wave as she smiled brightly. He waved back but his smile didn’t reach his eyes. She thought she knew why he was so upset. He hated seeing her with Jason. She was starting to hate being here with Jason too. When Jason was called for prom King, he patted Chrissy on the thigh, gave her a kiss on the forehead and sauntered up to the stage to receive his crown. Chrissy felt like she was going to be sick. This was the single most important moment to her. Principal Higgins held a white envelope in his hands.
“And this year’s prom queen is…” He fumbled with the envelope.
You were rooting for Chrissy. You knew that you didn’t need to be, but there was part of you that was longing for your old friend back. Maybe her winning prom queen would bring her back from her orbit.
“Chrissy Cunningham”
Chrissy opened her perfectly glossed lips into a gasp. She stood timidly and strutted to the stage to accept her crown and flowers. She flashed a beauty pageant smile and wave and sobbed a thank you to the gym. You could tell that she was definitely not sober. You worried for her, but this was also your night. She was Jason’s problem, not yours. It gave you a small bit of relief to see Eddie was not in a matching baby pink getup to the blonde’s. They didn’t come here together. You knew you shouldn’t be holding out hope, but the scene he caused on the dancefloor and now this, you couldn’t help but be a bit hopeful.
Once Chrissy and Jason took a bow as king and queen, the DJ had spun a slow song. Gareth offered you his hand again and you happily accepted it. Dancing with Gareth had been the most fun you have had in a while. You both went to the dancefloor and dramatically rocked each other back and forth.
Chrissy left the stage and as Jason went to grab her to dance with her, she tossed her flowers to him and trudged across the gym in Eddie’s direction. Jason looked back to his posse confused, he followed Chrissy’s bouncy curls to the opposite end of the gym.
Eddie nursed his flask as dancers started to repopulate the space. He saw you get up with Gareth. He scoffed and took another swig of his flask. When his eyes returned to the mass of students, he saw a pair of bright blue eyes bounding towards him. He stood in shock, not knowing what Chrissy was doing. When she reached the wall he was leaning against, she stuck out a perfectly manicured hand to him, her face set with determination. She led him to the middle of the dance floor.
“Chris, wh-what are you doing?” Eddie breathed
“Shut up, Munson. W-we are gonna d-dance:” she slurred.
“We don’t have to-” She stopped him in the middle of the gym and wrapped her arms around his neck. He could see Jason fuming behind her and he smirked down at her.
“You’re ready to stir the pot aren’t you, doll?” Eddie chuckled.
“Yeah, I’m r-r-ready to start some, some shit b-because I-I love you, E-Eddie Munson.” Her blue eyes bore into him. Did he really just hear her properly? He felt like there was only one right thing to say.
“I, I love you too, Chrissy,” Eddie hesitated. Before he could wrap his head around what had happened, Chrissy pulled his head down to hers and planted a searing kiss on him. He quickly returned her offer and swiped his tongue over her lips. She deepened the kiss. Eddie felt like he was floating, but it didn’t feel like it was a good feeling. Chrissy tasted sour like wine and Eddie’s head pounded. But feeling this was better than feeling nothing. It was better than the emptiness he felt when he saw you being held by someone else. He kissed Chrissy like no one was watching, while in reality all of the gym had directed their gaze to the world's oddest couple they could imagine.
You swayed Gareth back and forth, laughing so hard your stomach hurt and your face felt like the smile was never going to leave. Once your laughs subsided, you pulled Gareth in closely and rested your head on his shoulder. You closed your eyes and hummed in content.
“Thank you, Gareth. This has been such a great night”
“You’re welcome, Y/N. I am having so much fun with you” Gareth rubbed small circles into your waist as you turned slowly. You opened your eyes and you instantly stood up, your body tensing under Gareth’s touch.
“Hey, what’s wr-” Gareth turned to look behind him and saw the picture perfect way to ruin your night. Gareth stiffened and grabbed your hand. You didn’t want to look but you couldn’t avert your gaze. You felt like you were going to be sick. Gareth grabbed your hand and whispered in your ear.
“Let’s go get some fresh air, okay?” You nodded your head and let him lead you out of the gym.
As Eddie broke his kiss, the first thing he saw was you taking in their display. Then he saw you turn and leave the gym with Gareth’s hand in yours. Eddie grabbed Chrissy’s hand and kissed it and ran out of the gym after you.
You refused to let the tears fall. You didn’t want to ruin your night with Gareth and you didn’t want to give Eddie and Chrissy the satisfaction. Why would he look at you the way he did, why would he say those things to Gareth? Why would he call you his girl? Gareth could tell you were trying to process, so he squeezed your hand to ground you and remind you he was here for you.
“Y/N” you hear a familiar voice ring out. The voice you wanted to hear the most and the least. You turn to find Eddie standing in the middle of the empty hallway. Gareth gripped onto your hand tighter, a scowl setting on his face.
“What do you want, Eddie?” you manage to squeak out.
“I-I’m sorry” he huffed. “I’m so fucking sorry”
“For what, Eddie? For being defensive all night, telling Gareth that I’m your girl?” Gareth and Eddie both tensed. “For knowing that my heart fully belongs to you and you actively shitting on it? What is it?” You were angry. You deserved to be angry. This time, it was Eddie’s turn to cry. You walked towards him, cheeks growing hot. You came chest to chest with him when you heard the gym door fly open.
“E-Eddie, my love?” Chrissy giggled. She stopped when she saw the three of you in the hallway. “Oh no.” She murmured.
“Chrissy, go back inside. I’ll be there in a minute.” Eddie ordered. You scoffed and rolled your eyes. Tears are now dangerously close to ruining your makeup.
“Hmmmm, no. I think I wanna st-stay for this Teddy” she cooed. She stumbled towards him and threw her weight on him.
“Yeah, Teddy. She might want to stay for this.” you sneer. You could feel your blood heating up, your hand tightening on Gareth’s.”Why did you kiss me in the theatre?” You take a step back as Eddie opens his mouth to speak and closes it again. “Tell me it wasn’t because you were in love with me and I’ll walk away right fucking now.” you sniffle.
“He didn’t love you, babe. He only kissed you b-back  b-because he f-f-felt bad for you. That’s what he told me” Chrissy hiccupped. Eddie looked at you, his eyes now freely flowing.
“Y/N… Please” Eddie begs. You laugh at him.
“Is that the truth Eddie? Is that how you really feel? Or is that what you told Chrissy to feel better about the fact that you kissed me, and you didn’t want to stop?” You spit.”Or was it what you told her to get in her pants without any punishment?”
“Please don’t do that” Eddie whispered. You start to back away with Gareth. Eddie tries to peel Chrissy’s arms off of his torso.
“I’m leaving right now Eddie and you have a choice to make. You can come with me and that will be enough of an explanation.” You stood strong and dropped your hand that was holding Gareth’s. He whispered your name softly. You turn to him and smile tightly to let him know that it was okay. You turn back to Eddie who stands still.
“Eddie, lets gooooo.” Chrissy whines.She began to pull his arm back towards the gym. His feet feel like they weigh a thousand pounds. He looks to you, completely heartbroken as your gaze hardens at the drunk prom queen hanging around his body. You chuckle as he lets Chrissy pull his body back towards the gym.
“Great. We’re done.”
You hear Eddie release a broken Sob as you grab Gareth’s hand and walk through the double doors.
Chrissy finally drags him back towards the bustling music and plastic tinsel of the gym. He felt like he could throw up. How could he just let you walk away?
Gareth opens his truck door open for you and helps you get seated in the passenger seat. He stands in between you and his truck door. He kissed your forehead and began to run his hand up and down your arm.
“Do you wanna go home, sweetheart?”
“You know what, a milkshake sounds really fucking great right now” you smile. Gareth laughs and you eventually join him.
“Milkshakes coming right up.”
Tumblr media
(The following is an excerpt from the July 17, 2023 edition of The Weekend Roundup, a gossip column posted every Monday afternoon on GossipWeb.com and the GossipWeb app.)
Wedding bells are in the air for model Chrissy Munson and nature photographer David Greggs. The pair have officially announced their engagement on Sunday via social media, confirming recent rumors.
The happy couple shared the news on their respective Instagram accounts, showing photos of the two happily embracing on a beach at sunset. In one, Munson is holding out her hand to show off the huge sapphire and diamond engagement ring now sitting on her finger.
“I said YES!” Munson captioned her photo while Greggs captioned his, “She said YES!”
The pair first made headlines back in 2021, when they were spotted having dinner together just a few weeks after Munson filed for divorce from Corroded Coffin’s frontman, Eddie Munson.
While “Irreconcilable differences” were listed in the official court filing, representatives for both Eddie and Chrissy have declined to comment further on the matter. In the social media post announcing the divorce, Chrissy took a diplomatic path, stating, “Sometimes our plans in life just don’t work out the way we want them to. Unfortunately, this is one of those times. I wish Eddie nothing but the best and wish nothing but happiness for him. While our marriage may be over, he will always hold a special place in my heart.”
But, while her words made it sound like the split was an amicable one, many have their doubts it was that simple.
Rumors had been circulating regarding her ex husband’s hard partying lifestyle for years. Insiders have come forward to provide accounts of escalating drug and alcohol abuse, and extremely irrational and erratic behavior from the rockstar. Shortly after the divorce filing, it was reported to multiple news outlets that an intervention was been staged for Munson just a few days prior to the court filing, but it had failed.
In related news, the former members of Corroded Coffin are continuing to stay busy and are enjoying far more laid back schedules.
Following a highly successful album with their band Fallen Shadows, Jeff Richards and Grant Lee have announced a small, twenty city tour that will occur early next year. While the dates and cities are still to be determined, the two are looking forward to getting back on the road.
“It’s been awhile, but we’re itching to get back out there,” Richards stated in a Facebook post. “There’s nothing like bringing our music out into the world and sharing it in person with the fans.”
But Gareth Emerson hasn’t been so eager to return to the spotlight.
Following a successful stay at the Betty Ford Center, which he entered in December 2019, Emerson says he has done a lot of thinking about his life and who he wants to be, both as a person and an artist.
“The stress I was constantly putting myself under was ultimately my downfall,” he explained in a Facebook post full of self reflection. “And one of the biggest stressors for me was the constant need to promote myself, to sell myself basically. I stopped feeling like a person and started feeling like a piece of meat. In this business, it doesn’t take long before you start getting treated like a machine and you start looking for ways to cope. And, usually, you find yourself coping by turning to drugs. Now I don’t have to just cope because I refuse to put myself back in that stressful position.”
Emerson continues to write and record new music, which he releases on iTunes under his own name. While he’s leaning heavily into experimental sounds, his new style seems to be gravitating towards a blend of classic rock n’ roll, folk and heavy metal. It’s not a combination you would expect to hear from a speed metal drummer, but Emerson clearly has hidden talents he’s only just starting to show the world.
As for the frontman and lead guitarist, Eddie Munson, unfortunately, there’s not much can be said.
The statement from Corroded Coffin announcing their hiatus came in late 2019 just a few days after Munson and Emerson’s very publicized fistfight at the UK Music Video Awards. While he virtually dropped out of the spotlight as a musician in the following months, Munson was frequently in the news due to his excess partying and rowdy behavior.
Then, in 2022, he unexpectedly disappeared from the LA party scene, only to resurface a few months later in his old hometown of Hawkins, Indiana.
Representatives for Munson have declined to comment, so the true reasons for his returning to Hawkins are still unclear. The rocker has yet to make any return trips home to California within the last eighteen months since his departure. This adds credibility to a more recent rumor we reported on last week that Munson is in negotiations to sell his Malibu home to a private seller.
Perhaps the rockstar has finally turned over a new leaf?
Some signs point to yes.
Earlier this year, Gareth Emerson’s wife, actress Kim Simmons-Emerson, sent well wishes to Eddie in a heartfelt Instagram post. She posted an old photo of Munson and Emerson from high school with the caption, “Today marks a new beginning for old friends. We’re so proud of you. We knew you could do it.”
Tumblr media
The nagging was constant since your parents arrived back from their trip. Dropping Chrissy off brought up so many emotions for them, and you were the unfortunate winner of having to deal with the aftermath. It all started when you greeted them as they walked through the front door, the cracks in your chest becoming larger thanks to their words and Eddie’s actions over the past couple of weeks.
As summer grew closer to a close, your parents kept insisting you go out more and live your senior year to the fullest, attending football games and making friends with the jocks Chrissy left behind, or going to Starcourt and shopping for new outfits for the school year, which wasn’t starting for another two weeks. They were growing agitated by your constant presence, something you never really picked up on because you spent so much of your time with Eddie.
Eddie.
The metalhead had given you the space you asked for, calling every now and then to check on you and try to talk with you, only you kept your conversations sparse and brief. You could tell by the sound of his voice he was hurt, but you were hurting too, more so now that your parents were home and continuing to pressure you into becoming the perfect daughter you apparently never were.
The sad part? You missed the safe haven Eddie provided you over the years. It was always either him or Chrissy you would run to when things got bad, but a majority of the time it was Eddie. He knew your parents treated you unfairly when compared to Chrissy, which made being his second choice all the more hurtful.
You walk through the door of your home, shopping bags in hand as you toss your keys on the side table. Taking your mother’s suggestion, you went to Starcourt and cleared your head, grabbing a few new pieces for school that you wanted to go try on. Walking towards the kitchen, you hear a fit of laughter erupting from the dining room. You peak your head around the corner and see your parents and the next door neighbors sitting at the table, a feast sitting in front of them.
“Hey,” you let out timidly. You watch everyone’s heads turn to you and the neighbors greet you with a slight smile.
“Sweetie what are you wearing? I thought you went to buy nice clothes,” your mother asks. You glance down at the Metallica that hung loosely on your upper body, completely forgetting you were wearing Eddie’s shirt until now. Keeping some of his clothing was such a force of habit, you’d began to forget what wasn’t already part of your wardrobe.
“Uh, yeah. I got a few things from the Gap and JCPenny,” you explain, lifting the shopping bags into their sight. She rolls her eyes and leans in a bit to whisper across the table towards the woman neighbor.
“She’s still going through a phase, I suppose. Our Chrissy never had anything like that happen, always the perfect angel,” she lets out, not bothering to lower her tone all that much. You rest your arms at your sides, letting your shoulders slump a bit, until you meet the gaze of your father, his stern look boring into you, making you reposition yourself.
“Anyway, Y/N, you know Daniel, right? He’s going to be the new basketball team captain once the season starts, now that Jason Carver’s off to college with your sister,” The woman explains. You give Daniel a small wave, him nodding in response. You two had classes together and used to ride the same bus, so of course you remembered him. But he was a dickhead, much like the rest of the jocks at Hawkins High. He would always join in on the taunting of Eddie during lunch, which is when your feelings towards the boy grew bitter.
“See now Y/N, if you started to date Daniel here, you could be the new Chrissy and Jason, following right in your sister’s footsteps,” you mother smiled, taking the fork seated beside her and picking up the green beans on her plate.
“Are you going to join us dear? Maybe we can all catch up, and you can tell us what you’ve been up to,” your neighbor says. She was always so friendly towards you, which makes you wonder how her child could turn out so horrible. Your mother rolls her eyes and continues to eat.
“T-that’s okay, I grabbed something at the mall,” you lie. Taking a few steps back, you turn your body away from the dining room and make your way up towards your bedroom. Dropping the bags on your floor, you collapse on your bed, small tears pricking behind your eyes and threatening to break free.
You hated that you let their judgmental words and actions get the better of you. Chrissy was always the one to stand up to them in a way, being your protector when things got out of hand. It made you wonder how they viewed her as the perfect daughter when she could really bite back at times.
Picking up the phone you got to have in your room now that Chrissy moved out, you dial the number to the person you needed to talk with most, hoping there is some possibility that he would be able to come help you.
“Family Video, the place to find all your movie rental needs, this is Steve, how may I help you?”
“Steve? When do you get off tonight?” You ask, a sniffle escaping pass your lips.
“I close tonight, but is everything okay? Do I need to leave Robin to do it all alone tonight?” Steve asks.
“Uh no! You are definitely not doing that!” You hear Robin shout over the phone, making you chuckle slightly.
“Okay, scratch that. But I can come by after? Like around 9:30?” He suggests. You appreciated the sentiment he was showing you, he’s always been a great support system, especially within the past few weeks.
“No, it’s okay. I appreciate it though. I hope you both have an easy closing shift,” you tell them. You bid them farewell and hang up the call, blowing out a sigh you held deep within your lungs.
Other than Steve and Robin, you didn’t have many more friends. Nancy moved to Boston shortly after Chrissy left, Emerson’s classes starting soon, so she was no longer an option to help sooth the worries and judgements away. Your sister would know just how to comfort you in this kind of situation, and it took a lot not to go knocking on her bedroom door and wrapping your arms around her as you cry.
You pick up the phone once more, dialing the last number you thought you’d call today. The emotions your parents were bringing on were clouding your judgement, making you not think rationally. The hole is your heart was aching to be stitched together again, to have some kind of peace in your life once more, even if it did feel like it was still too soon.
You didn’t want to do it. Your head was screaming at you to say no.
Ring. Ring.
But your heart? It was telling you to keep the line going.
“Munson Residence! How may I assist you,” Eddie answers, a silly accent accompanying his words. If it weren’t for your sour mood, you’d laugh at his antics, something you’d always do. But today, with everything going on within your recent history, on top of your parents, it was not the time for it.
“I miss you,” you mumble out.
The line was quiet. You could hear the static radiating through the phone, nerves building up more and more as you continued to wait for a response.
“I miss you too, Y/N,” he finally lets out. You let out a few sniffles, his voice making you feel safe enough to show some kind of emotion, unlike your conversation with Steve. It was nothing against Steve, he just…he wasn’t Eddie.
“I need you Eds. Can I come over?” you ask, more sniffles quickly accompanying your words. You used to be able to just go over without even letting him know before, so asking felt like the most foreign feeling in the world.
“Of course, sweetheart. Door’s unlocked, always will be for you,” he answers, his voice soft and sweet. You place the phone back on its dock and grab your jacket, opening your door and making a haste exit out the front door, not that your parents would notice anyway.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The journey to Eddie’s was filled with silence, the occasional car passing by and owl cooing around you. You were lucky the walk to Eddie’s trailer wasn’t that bad, only about 30 minutes. It gave you a lot of time to think about just want you wanted to say to him. The past few weeks have been lonely, and despite your fight, you missed him terribly, even more so now that your parents were home.
He was always your rock when things got bad. It became a ritual for you to just drop by his place and seek comfort from him when your parents were being assholes, and he would provide it. That’s what best friends do. So having him treat you like your parents did, just a replacement for Chrissy, felt horrible, and you really needed him to know that.
You walk up the stairs and unlatch the screen door to Eddie’s trailer, turning the knob on the other door and walking inside. You hear the soft sound of his tapes muffled behind the door of Eddie’s room. Not a lot has changed in the weeks of your absence from the trailer, a few new mugs added to Wayne’s collection and maybe a hat or two, but nothing wild. You loved the coziness of Eddie’s place, it felt warm and welcoming compared to your own.
“Eddie?” you call out, your hands wrapping around your body. The nerves you’d forgotten about slowly make their way up your spine, a chill cascading throughout your body as you watch Eddie open the door. The music is a lot quieter now, Eddie having turned it down before opening up. His hair is a bit disheveled, and he has dark circles with bags under his big brown eyes. A frown begins forming on your lips, seeing the state he’s in, what hell he’s been going through with the time you’ve taken away from him.
He’s quick to walk over to you. His feet carry him in an instant, only mere inches from your form. You look up to him, the tears you managed to fight off for so long finally coming to the surface, your face crinkling as your hands come up to muffle your sobs. Eddie wraps his arms around you, bringing you close to his chest as he buries his head in your hair. All the words you had planned to say suddenly left your mind, his touch against you turning your brain to utter mush.
“They’re so fucking cruel, Eds. I hate it there,” you tell him through broken sobs. He rubs your back, mumbling incoherent phrases in your ear as he continues to hold you close. Your arms find their way around his torso, squeezing him and pulling him closer to you.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry you have to keep putting up with that, sweetheart,” he tells you. You retreat from his touch a bit, peering up at his face through your soaked lashes. He takes his thumb and wipes away your tears, giving you a small smile. “I’m also sorry about everything I did to you a few weeks ago.”
“Eddie-“
“No, Y/N, please, I need to get this out there. I was an absolute jackass for how I treated you. I should’ve known better, and I’ve had a lot of time to think about us during our time apart. And I know now that what I was trying to show you a few weeks ago wasn’t a mistake. I tried to kiss you because I love you, like really love you,” he explains to you. You feel your breath hitch in your throat, his revelation throwing you. You were emotional and/or mind was running a mile a minute, but you couldn’t have missed those words even if you tried.
Eddie loved you.
“I-I don’t understand. Eds, you love Chrissy…” your voice trails off, looking to the floor as the crystal clear memories of a few weeks ago flood your mind. You feel Eddie’s fingers tug at your chin, forcing you to look up at him gently.
“The love I feel for Chrissy is very different from the love I feel for you, sweetheart. I thought that was what I wanted, but being without you these few weeks? I’ve been in hell, and I didn’t realize how vital you were in my life until I didn’t have you. You’re the only person in the fuckin’ town who gets me, who really sees me. And you’re my biggest supporter, and I could never live with myself if I didn’t let you know how much you really mean to me.”
“Eds, I had no idea,” you say breathlessly. You wipe away a few more tears you felt spill over, a smile creeping up on your face. “You really mean all that?”
“Every single word. You and I, we’re gonna get far away from this town. You won’t have to deal with your parents anymore, and we can go somewhere we can be free to do whatever we fuckin’ want. It’ll just be me and you, and Chrissy and Jason can visit whenever they want. W-we can get a dog or cat or whatever! All I know is I want you by my side, Y/N. Forever,” he reassures you, his hand resting on your cheek and brushing the hair out of your face.
Eddie really loved you.
“You have no idea how much I want that Eddie,” you tell him, standing on your tip toes to wrap your arms around his neck and pulling him in for a deep hug. His hands wrap around your torso once more, squeezing you tight, as if you’ll fly away if he lets go. He pulls back, looking at you with sad, pleading eyes.
“Please, Y/N, I really hope you can forgive me for how I acted. I don’t ever want to see you hurt like that night again, or the day at Family Video. Hell, even seeing you like this tonight is breaking my cynical little heart. I get it if you still hate me, really I will,” he lets out, tears of his own forming in his eyes as he lets out a small chuckle. He was never good at staying serious for too long, and showing emotions was hard for him, given everything he’s been through in his life. You smile up at him and rub away his own tears, his dimples coming to life at the feeling of your soft skin on his.
"I could never hate you Eds. Never," you tell him. You lean forward and press a kiss to his cheek, pulling away to see his eyes wide with happiness at your gesture. You smile and nuzzle back into him, giving his body another squeeze. You knew Eddie was a man true to his word, and hearing him speak so passionately to you and tell you just how much you mean to him made your heart grow three times its original size. It felt nice finally having someone love you the way you love them, no nasty comments or heartbreak would come from him, not anymore at least.
Eddie pulls away from you and takes your hand, leading you towards his couch and plopping down, gesturing for you sit down next to him. You swing your legs across his lap instead, a laugh leaving Eddie’s mouth and you snuggle him close.
“It’s just gonna be me and you, baby. I promise I’ll give you a better life with what I can, alright?” He tells you. You smile at him and go to kiss his cheek again, but he’s quick to whip his head and meet your lips. You giggle into his mouth, leaning back and resting your head against his shoulder. The countdown to graduation officially began, ready to go and explore the rest of the world with the man sitting next to you, ready to finally feel what true happiness feels like.
