Number 2 and number 6 for the anime ask!

2. first anime crush

I think my first anime crush might have been Tuxedo Mask (or “Darien,” as I knew him then)? Maybe? xD He was basically the ideal prince for any anime fangirl who grew up watching Sailor Moon, and I guess I was one among many who loved him and yearned for a miracle romance like the one between him and Sailor Moon.

But then I don’t think he really counts? I hardly understood what a crush or an anime crush was back then, and I wanted him to live happily ever after with Usagi rather than actually wanting to date him myself, if that makes sense. So I’m going to fast forward like ten years later to my re-entrance into anime (via Sailor Moon, again, wow) and say that my first actual anime crush was Yaten Kou.

Yes, I saw Yaten as a guy. I hope I’m not offending anyone or coming off as transphobic or anything, because I swear I’m not D: I’m now aware of their gender (both manga and anime versions), but back then, I seriously thought Yaten was a man. I mean, technically, in the 90s anime adaptation, he is a guy in civilian form. Maybe because that was the first form I saw of him so the “male” thing just kinda stuck. And no, I’m not kidding, even after seeing Sailor Star Healer transformed, with breasts growing in front of my eyes and running around fighting with a clearly female body, back then I still didn’t realise that “he” was a girl in Senshi form. I didn’t even see the boobs, if that makes sense, and I’m not exaggerating. Like, it wasn’t a case of denial or anything; I literally thought the Starlights were male through and through xDDD I’m almost embarrassed to admit this now, but then it’s also kinda funny to look back on haha xD

But yeah, even now that I’m aware of the Starlights’ very complex gender (or lack thereof), I still love Yaten a lot and still consider him/her/them to be my first anime crush. Yaten also kinda helped me realise my very obvious type in terms of anime crushes: white/silver-haired pretty boys xD I’ve added countless new anime crushes to my list since then, but Yaten will always be special in the sense that they were the first ^^

If you are still taking gif requests~ I would really love to see a gif set of the episode where half the episode is told by the point of view of a girl from an old town. A yokai breaks a window but she stands up for him; anything from that ep would make me happy!
