Hello and good day! I'm sorry if this has already been asked before and you can totally just ignore this if you want, but I'm curious: can you imagine a world where somehow, Aoi likes someone else and not Akane? Cause I think that while the canon version of her is cute, I have recently read a what-if fanfic in her pov where she absolutely hates Akane the same way she does her other admirers and now I am hyperfixating on that. What habits would have been different compared to canon Aoi? Would Akane have grown more deperate since he (presumably) would know that Aoi genuinely does not like him in this scenario? What if he began noticing Aoi starting to like her dream boy in class? The possibilities are killing meeeeee!

Oh man, I'm the wrong person to ask this cause I genuinely can't imagine this scenario being possible without obliterating Akane's characterization.

Do you remember why Akane fell in love with Aoi? Because Aoi loved him so much that she broke her "cold and indifferent, hate dealing with people" mask for him. She TRIED so hard to hate him but still ended up crying cause she cared so much.

If the mask was real and she truly didn't care about him, I don't think Akane would fall for her.

If he did fall for her later on anyways, I can't see him trying to pursue her after being rejected/met with her discomfort/annoyance. Even in the timeline where she does like him and comes up with the silliest of excuses to keep him around without straight up accepting his confessions, he had admitted that he would keep keeping her safe while keeping a distance in case she doesn't want him.

He only pursues her so much cause she actively flirts and encourages him to.

The idea Aoi would encourage him if she didn't like him does make Akane pestering her believable but at the cost of Aoi's own character being obliterated. I don't think I'm being harsh when I say Aoi would be a bitch if she went "hehe try harder <3 Impress me Akane-kun!" consistently enough for him to buy it that she could date him while thinking "Tch, hate this guy, he keeps harassing me".

That would means she doesn't even consider him a friend, she doesn't care AT ALL about his feelings, which is nothing like the Aoi who tries to pretend the people she dislikes don't bother her/don't exist and loves her friends dearly, putting them above her.

The most I can picture is Aoi falling for someone else and Akane either not getting a crush on her and supporting her fully, or slowly putting some barrier between them cause he can see Aoi doesn't like him and being in pain, the classic 'i want her to be happy' and 'she won't be with me' conflict where he has a crisis but eventually learn to let her go, reach the point he can be comfortable by her side even when she is with someone else.

Or Aoi realizing Akane likes her romantically and being anxious that she has to reject a friend, whom she deeply values, but her growing unease and lack of encouragement wouldn't be able to fool Akane for long. Their whole thing is that they know each other well after all and Akane consistently asks 'are you okay?' when he senses anything may be wrong with Aoi.

Maybe it would take some months for Akane to understand without Aoi giving him a straight-up rejection, especially if they are small when he gets the crush, but Akane pays so much attention to her, he would pick up the signs she is uncomfortable, especially if it reaches a point of Aoi staring to resent him for it more than being scared of losing him. He either drop it silently or straight up confront her about it, probably.

#full disclosure i hate 'what ifs' that turn kind characters into very non complex mean people #so again. I am not the best person to ask this. it's finally here!!! my beloved fic for the 520 day guardian reverse exchange! this was written for trobadora, who gave me the most delicious set of ideas to fit into a story. it was so fun.

i have no idea how to describe this fic, frankly - this is, hands down, the most complex and most heartwrenching and most incredible thing i've ever written in my entire life.

here is a list of some things in it: a kiss, a mystery, a change of heart. old chinese people, dark energy world-building, lesbians, big-time character parallels, forgery of documents, rainstorms, rowboats, lollipop symbolism, [redacted], bedsharing, grading, the stupidest undercover name ever. zhao yunlan described with so many light metaphors. shen wei being the most shen wei i could make him.

ive just rediscovered an old wip of mine and im having so much fun right now. like i havent opened the document since early 2020 and genuinely forgot it existed yet there's 90k words and so much lore and elements of basic concepts that made it to my present writing in far cooler and more complex ways and the writing isn't great but there's potential to it and idk. it's been a while since i wrote something privately and while i hugely prefer the way i do it now where i actually have a community with it and dont hole myself away and act like it's a huge shame thing, there's still something hugely reasuring about knowing this is something ive always done and that actually i was always drawn to it and had potential and that's something to remember for when my writing block gets bad or i convince myself Everything Ive Ever Done Is Awful

THANK YOU DARLING i will use this opportunity to talk about the black family bc i find that whole situation very strange in this fandom.

people like to use sirius' running away as proof that walburga and orion were abusive parents but has anyone stopped to consider the fact that he ran away bc he simply disagreed with this family's ideals and didn't want to become the heir to a house full of pureblooded supremacist maniacs??? sirius has obvious distain for his parents but kreacher also mentions that walburga was heartbroken when sirius left. heartbroken. what a strange adjective to use for someone who fandom views as a heartless abuser. kreacher didn't say walburga was disappointed or angry that she had lost an heir, she was heartbroken over losing a son. a child. her own flesh and blood. if walburga and orion were actual heartless monsters don't you think they would've disowned sirius the moment he was sorted into gryffindor, among the blood traitors? but they didn't. sirius only gets disowned when he runs away from his duties to his family, which his parents would obviously consider the ultimate betrayal because family is everything to them.

to be clear i don't think the black family was healthy or loving but i don't think it was abusive in the way most fics show. they definitely didn't physically abuse their children or use literal curses to discipline them. if there was abuse it was definitely more emotional, manipulative. the black family kept their children isolated from the wizarding world until they couldn't anymore bc they had to be sent to a boarding school. they taught their children everything at home in their most formative years so that they could indoctrinate them into believing their fairytales. you're of superior blood because you bare our last name and you look like our forefathers. everyone else is beneath you and you aren't to associate with filth that doesn't acknowledge our superiority over them. that kind of thing that permanently damages a child's view of the world and their relationships to those outside their family (bc as we're well aware, the blacks were very much into keeping it in the family).

i'll mostly talk about the main black family here because i still have conflicting thoughts about the black sisters and their parents but i think walburga genuinely loved her children. especially sirius who was by all means the perfect heir (up until his years at hogwarts), he was sociable, talented, smart, powerful and above all confident and so so full of himself. he embodies the traits that make what the black family superior to others. regulus more or less is the opposite of his brother so there's room for more conflicting thoughts there. he isn't mentioned as particularly good in school or popular or liked at all. sirius calls him naive for believing their parents' stories and blood mania but that naïveté probably extended to other areas as well. he had a literal shrine on his wall devoted to voldemort (it you needed any more proof of how much of a loser he canonically is shsjsj). orion seems to be pretty detached (which is completely normal for the time like we're talking about 60s/70s parenting. fathers were mostly absent), he was likely more of a mentor for sirius if anything. teaching him how to handle the black family fortune and all that. i think walburga played a bigger role in their upbringing considering that was what was expected of her as a woman. she was likely their tutor before they started school, i doubt the black family would let anyone else teach their children.

i have a Lot more thoughts about them. i've talked about why i actually like walburga and how different i see the black brothers dynamic being from what we usually see in fanon in other posts. i don't think i can ever actually explain well enough how i imagine them though </3

i read a lot of fics where sakura is loved by the uchiha clan and i know it’s cute and all, but i disagree with the headcanon. the uchiha were persecuted for having powers inexplicable to the public which led to them keeping everything in the clan and rarely allowing outsiders in. this clan, while obviously victims of racism, indulged in practices to keep the sharingan alive no matter the cost. just like the hyuuga, they had their own vices and itachi was right when he pointed out the flaws in this mentality.

imagine sasuke, the clan leader’s heir, falling in love with sakura, a clanless child with below average skills. imagine their shock and anger when they learn this child was taken under tsunade - a senju heir - and taught the secrets of her clan as if clan secrets are meant to be given away to the undeserving. think about sakura, brave, ruthless, intelligent sakura, navigating the stereotypes and breaking them one step at a time, not playing clan politics because a human being is a human being no matter where they are from and we are the ones who create boundaries and complain about the suffering we cause.

imagine the uchiha clan not having any idea what to do with pink-haired girl who refuses to be impressed by their limitations and continues smashing through her problems.
