lord I am so exhausted of applying to dozens of jobs every week without getting a single response other than your application wasn’t selected. my current job is wrecking me and I am so burnt out and just want a job that pays well and doesn’t make me want to die 24/7. im at my wits end like who do I need to pay to make my resume/linkedin stand out because how do people hear back from jobs??? what am I doing wrong

@staff this UI update is terrible and unwanted by your community. Why are you catering to twitter users who don’t want to put the smallest bit of effort into learning how tumblr’s site and culture works, instead of your existing userbase who like tumblr for being tumblr and want the site to actually improve and become nicer to use with really useful suggestions!!

The new UI is ugly and difficult to use, there’s a reason nobody uses twitter on desktop!

It's jetlag-fueled midlife crisis time again, so you get to vote on my next career move! Basically, upward mobility (money wise) is extremely limited if I stay in my country and in my current (non-profit) field. Even if I took on significantly more responsibility, I'd still have to take a substantial pay cut if I applied for any new job in my industry. (Yes, it's a small field, so I literally know all the salaries for all the positions that might open up.)

i am reading radium girls by kate moore. it is about the famous case of the young female factory workers who suffered fatal radiation poisoning from working at glowing watch factories in the early 20th century which led to a landmark lawsuit that paved the way for a lot of new regulations. these women were literally suing their uncaring employer from their deathbeds, it was horrible. in many places the book is written in an almost narrative style that closely follows the pov of the many women involved, drawing heavily from what seem to be their personal journals, and time and time again we’re introduced to a young woman working at the dial factory who is happily living her youthful life when she starts to notice some unusual aches and pains, and then you as the reader know what’s coming, you’ve seen it so many times before over the course of this book, you know there’s no saving her and you know it’s going to be an awful death. in this way the book almost casts you in the pov of a helpless omniscient watcher. it’s really sobering

#great book though it’s SO exhaustively researched #read it if you want to feel deep deep anger at corporations and capitalism #rosemary reads
