I'm Teddy and this is my sideblog made for interacting and reblogging rpf works of my favorite youtubers, vtubers, and streamers. I wanted a place to do that without clogging up my personal main so here we are!

I enjoy shyan and crankiplier but, if I'm being honest, I'll probably mostly be reblogging rpf selfship content!

I may write and take requests one day too once I feel more confident doing so.

I'll be tagging any ships with their ship name as that's probably easiest! Posts and reblogs of individuals will be tagged with their own tag I'll add onto the end of this pinned so, if you have any triggers or squicks, make sure to check there and block that tag.

Any vtuber content though will just be tagged with their actual name as, from what I've seen so far, those communities are a little less rude about this kind of stuff. This might change in the future though.

ethan calling mark babe ironically for a while until it becomes a part of his everyday speech and it slips out as an actual pet name one day- it makes mark stop actually, its not dripping in ethans youtube voice, none of the usual "haha im making a joke rn" tone that normally comes with the name. and- and it makes him flush? mark realizes ethan is actually calling him babe and it? feels good? he likes it??

of course ethan doesn't really notice he says it until a few minutes later- stops agitating the omelet in the skillet and just looks up at mark across the kitchen at the sink and says

So just because we’re all yelling about rpf (real person fiction & shipping) today

Here’s a metaphor that I think will help some of you.

I’ve never been a big rpf fan, but some of you are, and that’s ok, but I want you to think of it like this. Remember when you were in school, or if you still are in school, when the teacher says you’re allowed to talk quietly while you work? And then there was that one group that keeps shouting and ruins it for everyone because now the whole class needs to be silent? It’s like that.

The teacher telling you to talk quietly? That’s rpf. It’s ok to have and mess around in, just keep it light and respectful or keep it to yourself. The group shouting and ruining it for everyone? That’s the septiplier situation from a couple years back or, if you remember further, the Phan situation even longer ago.

That was when people got too loud, too boisterous, honestly too crazy and it became an unsafe topic. It ruined it for everyone.

So for some people on here, especially the younger people who are just being introduced to all of this, remember that there are boundaries.

For example, I think it’s an unspoken rule to not tag the involved people in your rpf unless they have explicitly stated, in no uncertain terms, that it is ok. It’s just not a comfortable thing for most people.

Tag your posts! Your fics, art, whatever it is you choose to do, tag them appropriately! It’s the same s everything else, some people aren’t comfortable interacting with certain content, and they blacklist and block to help them avoid that. Help them out and tag correctly.

And finally, for those who do not condone rpf and would like to avoid it as much as possible, that’s ok! But be respectful! As long as people aren’t shouting at the real individuals, or tagging them in potentially uncomfortable material, just block quietly and move on. Do not interact, no big deal. As long as they’re not harassing, they’re not hurting anyone.

Also, try not to get offended on behalf of other people. If the involved parties have not said that they are upset or uncomfortable, or even if they’ve said they ARE ok with it, you are not protecting or defending anyone by telling content creators that they’re bad people. That they should stop. Or in extreme cases, threatening death. That’s not ok under any circumstances. This is the first time in a long time I’ve seen such hostility coming from the anti rpf community. I mean I get it, it’s touchy and content creators need to tread lightly on this one, but really, don’t hurt people. You’re not a better person for it.

So stay chill, have fun, but most of all, be respectful. To yourselves, to creators, and especially to the people involved. You’re all people. Please act like it.

The Cardinal Rules of Real Person Shipping

The debate on the morality of RPS is a long and divided one. But it will always exist and while it does there are basic rules of conduct and respect that that anyone engaging in RPS should follow. Its very important to remember that you are not shipping fictional characters or characters based upon historical figures. You are shipping actual, real people, and they should be treated as such.  Please note these should also extend to fanart of one person, ‘slash reader’ content and anything that involves sexualising or romanticising another person. 

Do not tag the people in RPS content.  This goes for posts, fanfiction, fanart and any other form of RPS content. ‘Gen’ content (for example, fanart depicting them hugging in a non-sexual manner with no RPS related caption or implication) is acceptable, but its very important to ask yourself before you do so: 'Is this work immediately interpreted as platonic?’ If the answer is no, post it but don’t tag them. Don’t tag them in discussions or posts pushing their friendship or “relationship”. If you’re confused on what to tag it as, here’s a key: Name & Name = gen/platonic content.  Name/Name = romantic/sexual content.

Do not, EVER, show/share with/push NSFW content on the people. At all.  This is the number one rule and breaking it will disappoint even the rest of the RPS community. Its uncomfortable, weird, and downright disrespectful. It doesn’t matter if the actor has laughed about coming across NSFW content before. It doesn’t matter if they joked about it in an interview. Just don’t do it.  Any NSFW content you make involving RPS should be appropriately tagged.  Another thing to remember here since a lot of people post NSFW fanart to Twitter - writing the person’s full name in the text will make your Tweet show up when people follow that name.

Where possible, keep RPS content out of the ‘main’ tags. This one is just as much to protect you as it is to protect other people from being exposed. People who are against RPS content often resort to volatile bullying, death threats, harassment, doxing and detailed hate speech.  RPS is also normally an extreme breach of moral clause and respect for many people, and it makes them uncomfortable and upset. All in all, for everyone’s sake, its better to keep RPs content to specific pairing tags or to make a ‘secret’ tag. A lesser known fact is that ‘ship names’ can also be used platonically, but while this is a fact its still best not to use the tag in conjunction with other main tags, such as the fandom name or the people’s names.

Do not spam the people with RPS content or push it on them during streams, cons, panels ect. This relates to the NSFW rule but constantly pushing RPS content on the people involved can quite literally ruin their friendships. We’ve seen it time and time again - Septiplier, Phan, Cockles ect. Especially if there’s no merit to the RPS pairing (e.g both are happily in monogamous relationships). It can erode friendships and force the people involved to be more reserved. Imagine not being able to go out with your friends or hug them or engage with them because people forcibly sexualise it. This is what can happen.  Embracing their friendship is fine, but its important to remember the limits. Its also important to note that disregarding a celebrities other acts, motions or achievements in order to push RPS or fictional ship content on them is a dick move. One such example is Misha Collins’ latest political panels being spammed with Destiel demands. Undermining and undervaluing their other projects and their lives in order to satisfy your own desires isn’t going to earn you brownie points.

Do not, under any circumstances, harass or hate on the partners or friends of the people.  This is right up there with the NSFW rule. Its important to remember that almost every RPS ship is purely fantasy and that those people often have real partners and real friends who can and are hurt when you hate on them or harass them over an RPS ship. Regardless of your feelings about the relationship, they are the real life partners and friends of that person, and you are also hurting that person by attacking a valued piece of their life.  Partners and friends are not ‘unworthy’ or ‘getting in the way of Z and Y’. No other friendship is less valuable or unfair. No partner deserves to be attacked on a daily basis simply for being with someone. Know that if you do this, even the RPS community doesn’t want to engage with you and that you won’t be welcome on 90% of the blogs who engage in that ship.

The only proof that is conclusive is what comes right from the people’s mouths - anything else is speculation. It doesn’t matter if its sharing clothes, buying each other accessories, getting matching tattoos or whatever. Unless the people involved have explicitly said ‘this is what’s happening’ then it is speculation. Intimacy is not strictly romantic nor are definitive acts of love/bond such as matching tattoos. Its great to celebrate acts of their bond but don’t claim it as irrefutable proof that something is happening; again, things like that can destroy the friendship or erode the closeness of the bond. 

As a last note - its important to be respectful no matter your stance on RPS. If RPS isn’t your thing, block any related tags or blogs and cultivate positivity in your own space. If it is your thing - don’t give antis reason to attack and harass you.

Mark cards his fingers through Ethan’s hair, twisting the longer bits into small curls before letting them lie flat. “Your hair’s gotten a lot longer recently,” he murmurs, toying with a small chunk and watching as it slowly falls back down. “Seems like only yesterday you shaved it.” 

Ethan shifts on his lap, turning over slightly and craning his head so that he could look back at Mark. The action pushes his hand away, and Mark grumbles a little before deciding to just play with the hair on the side of his head, tucking a few loose strands that had fallen onto Ethan’s cheek behind his ear. “Crazy to think it was almost a year ago. I haven’t really processed anything since March.” 

“Same. It all just went by so quickly, with work and everything going on…” he trails off, knowing he doesn’t need to finish that sentence. With Unus Annus, their own channels, and other side projects, they had both had pretty tight schedules. Mark barely had time for himself, and even though it was intentional it still felt draining. 

Instead of replying, Ethan just hums and turns around fully, knocking Mark’s hand away again and coming to rest with his nose centimeters away from his shirt. Any grumbling or complaints Mark may have had are cut off when Ethan reaches out and takes his hand to press a chaste kiss to his knuckles, though, and he lets a fond smile slip onto his face. “It’s weird, but without all of that responsibility I feel kinda… hollow? Like, I’m glad it’s over but I feel weird. Like I should be doing something.” “Welcome to the club,” Mark jokes. When Ethan doesn’t respond, he gently takes a hold of his chin, tilting it up so that they could make eye contact. The angle is weird, and Ethan’s neck is probably killing him, but it’s worth it to see the small smile slowly appearing. “I hate this stupid fuckin’ club. You’re supposed to be the masochist here.” Mark doesn’t have much of a response to that other than a bark of a laugh, and he quickly moves his hand so that it’s cupping the back of Ethan’s head. “You’re cute when you’re angry.” “Well, one of us has to be.” He sticks his tongue out playfully, and Mark can physically feel his heart melt a little bit, because holy shit this little fucker is cute. 

“I take offense to that! I’m always cute!” “That’s debatable.” “Wh - no it’s not! You said so yourself, actually -” “I was lying.” “How could you do this to me? I trusted you!” “You shouldn’t’ve.” They stare at each other for a moment, both trying to seem angry but the faint wobbling of their mouths giving them away, and then they’re laughing again. “I’m sorry, you know I think you’re cute.” “Just cute?” Mark asks, hand moving back to Ethan’s hair and fiddling with it again. “I was thinking more roguishly handsome. Gorgeous, even. Good looks beyond human comprehension.” 

“I’m going to eat your fucking legs.” Giggling, Mark just squeezed his arm and went back to work on braiding small bits of his hair.

Viral YouTuber Mark with a non YouTuber, camera shy Ethan? Mark just wants to show Ethan off to the world, but his baby is just so shy about being on camera!

god okay i can imagine this being so cute. ethan being an enigma to marks audience- once in a blue moon he shows up on camera, often not saying anything, just popping in on mark recording to give him something- like coffee or a snack he made. a lot of it is mark waxing on and on about ethan and what he does for work (a fairly well known videographer in the area, doing weddings, special events, even sometimes being contracted for t.v. spots for local channels and often edits for other youtubers)- "he's really taught me a lot about cameras. if you guys are ever in L.A., hit him up, ethans really great at what he does, i love him." ethan will occasionally actually participate in videos, mainly marks review episodes. ethan will be sitting next to him, hands in his lap, nervously giving comments and attempting jokes just to make mark laugh. although mark is clearly in video mode and is playing up a lot of things, he's holding ethans hand through the majority of the video- taking advantage of it by waving his hands around to jostle ethan and make him laugh, get him to loosen up and not feel so nervous being on camera. it doesnt make ethans blush go away through the whole thing, but his shoulders do un-hunch by the end of every video.
