have u ever done, like, sculpture? i kno several ppl who were artists but felt rly bad abt it and then like switched mediums (to sculpey or ceramic or stained glass or wire or woodcarving) and found one that just made them happy. i dunno, maybe making things different ways will light u up somehow! :o

oh boy....sculpture and ceramics were my least favorite classes when i had to take them in college!! i dreaded them and had to figuratively exit my body to let something else drag me to em...

sculpture made 0 sense to me. i dont know how to do abstract stuff and its very difficult to make non-abstract stuff. also i am not good at visualizing things in 3D actually 😭

in my last ceramics class (a higher level one) I wld just sculpt extremely wonky crooked duckies, and we didnt even have fun glazes/colors to play with (or ig we did but. not explained to us how to use em) to elevate em either :/

i see people doing cute ceramic work now and wagh wish i cldve done stuff like that in school! now its like. completely unaccessible lol

im also usually very bad with "you have to spend hours on it and MAYBE itll come out good :)" media. so sculpting, painting etc...i like quick work so i can move on. not "this took hours and its still so sucks and now it takes up physical space and i cant just throw it away, thats a waste" i did throw away a good chunk of all my school assignments though

#printmaking (screenprinting) was the best. i love that. i think i was meant to do that #i loved spending 8 hours making prints #that i already knew what would look like at the end i just had to assemble and align the colors #but...i cant do it now. id love to buy the supplies but i know theyd just sit there #because again. i have no ideas. i would not make prints. #even when i had my uni's print shop for free at my disposal i wld not make work outside of assignments...bc i had no ideas #and like. idk. i feel id have to sell prints to make them worth it. + idk how to make things for me much less for an audience for money #skunk mail #deadmothh

basilisk didn’t used to have murder-eyes! just regular ones. the new ones can really fuck you up (but probably won’t kill you immediately)

Hi! I'm not in school anymore, so I just started taking Adderall again, and apparently it's really, really easy to get ahold of.

You just call a doctor, take a bunch of pretty detailed (and expensive!) psychological tests, and pay $20/month for the privilege of not having to take a psycho exam again.

Character: Fathom Tidechaser Words: 447 tw: death, decomposition, underwater/drowning

Fathom walks through the Gate between this world and another, and for a moment he sees nothing at all. He was expecting the twisting, wrenching sensation in his abdomen —  he has been teleported enough by now, and cast Plane Shift himself on a few occasions. But as he hurtles between planes, a vision impacts him with all the force of a windstorm, ripping him out of his mind and into a place as black as night.

Gleaming bones rise up before him, curving to pierce the darkness like a giant clawed hand. Like the bars of a prison —  but no prison was ever this lethal, or this beautiful. Fathom stands on the seafloor, ankle-deep in strange silt, straining to resolve the shapes moving past him into some kind of sense. Rotting flesh clings to the bones and drifts by in ragged pieces, dissolving in that soggy fashion that decay happens in the deep. Fathom blinks, and the stygian blackness lightens by a fraction. Enough for him to see that he is not alone.

The monstrous skeleton that Fathom is standing within positively teems with life, and Fathom can only stare. Mottled sharks and sinuous eels dart between the creature's rib bones, pulling off chunks of flesh and nibbling with frenzied hunger. As Fathom's eyes continue to adjust, he makes out tiny silvery fish, flickering with soft blue light, and the rapid scuttling of scavenging crabs. There is an entire world of alien creatures here, as bizarre as any aberration or monstrosity Fathom has faced on the land.

These are my children also, comes a voice, soft and subtle as the currents that tug at him. This too is my domain.

"Why are you showing me this?" Fathom asks, mouthing the words amongst the heavy stench of salt and death. It seems like a reasonable question.

I am giving you a gift, whispers his goddess. My champion, you must be able to see what you are fighting for.

There is a mystery here that yawns open before him, something too deep and terrifying for even Fathom to to comprehend. He shivers, suddenly cold to the very core of him. He fears Melora as much as he loves her, but he would not have it any other way.

"Okay," he says agreeably. "Thanks, I guess."

Her laughter is like whale song, haunting and melodic. The pressure of the water around Fathom redoubles, increasing until his eardrums are near bursting and he opens his mouth to scream, feeling his limbs being crumpled and crushed and mangled and—

Fathom emerges from the Gate between worlds, and the dark gives up its secrets to him like this is his birthright.
