Quote
Ray had a photographic memory. I mean Ray had total recall, I think, about everything. Everything she ever wore, everything she ever did, everything she ever smelled, everywhere she ever was, what anything looked like, she had total recall. It was unbelievable. So they both had it—it was more than nostalgia—it was being able to use every moment of their life in every living moment of their life.
Deborah Sussman oral history.

A tidbit about Schitt’s Creek I hadn’t heard before:
Eugene’s wife and Dan’s mother, Deborah Divine, brought up the show to her friend, notable Toronto-based industry builder Peter Sussman, who suggested they try to pitch it in Canada. They made a demo reel with a skeleton cast—both Levys, O’Hara, comic veteran Chris Elliott. They took it to different places, but CBC “was ready to commit to a number of episodes,” recalls Eugene. “Sally Catto could not have been more receptive and excited about the idea of doing the show.”

________
Schitt’s Creek really was a whole family affair!
