A Surprise Adventure (Levi x MC)

A/N: Happy Birthday to the well known shy otaku snakey fish boy of Devildom! While he may not be my favorite, he is certainly a cutie. May his birthday be a pleasant one.

Warnings: None, just a happy otaku boy on an adventure.

Summary: Leviathan’s big day has arrived, and he has been transported into a "simulation". With the help of MC, he must gain a special item to gift to the evil prince who has taken his brothers captive! The adventure awaits!

“Levi? Helloooo? Wake up! Your adventure is awaiting!” You nudged the Avatar of Envy, trying to wake him from whatever dream he was having.

He stirred, groaning a bit, but after shaking him just a bit more, you could see his eyes flutter open.

Seeing your familiar figure standing over him in the comfort of his bed-tub he smiled a little, a blush forming rather rapidly on his cheeks. You watched as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

“Leviathan! Finally you are awake. It is urgent! You must hurry!” Tugging on his arm, you ripped him from the comfort of his warm blanket and Ruri body pillow, earning a soft yell from him as he stumbled to follow you.

“MC? What is going on? What happened? Is everything okay?” Panic quickly waved over him. He had no idea what was happening. Perfect. It seems your plan is working so far.

“Admiral you must see this! It is your brothers! It appears that your brothers have been taken captive by the evil Lord of Devildom, and he is challenging YOU to get them back!” Acting as dramatic as you can, you pointed to a video conveniently pulled up on his computer.

“W-What!? Admiral? What is this? Is that.. Is that Lord Diavolo?” His eyes narrowed as he tried to process everything in his head. Clicking play on the video, he watched closely.

The video showed a rather menacing looking Lord Diavolo, and behind him, the six brothers, shackled in very real looking chains, calling out for help from their rescuer.

“If you wish to see your brothers again, I request that you bring me a gift in exchange for them. It must not be any gift, you see. It must be special. A once in a lifetime item that will be impossible to replicate. Bring it to me and you will set your precious family free. I hope to see you soon, Grand Admiral Leviathan.” Lord Diavolo smirked with a wicked grin just before the camera cut out.

The wheels in Levi’s brain were spinning rapidly. Confusion was all over his face.

“Of course! I know what this is! This must be the new game that I pre-ordered. I never thought it would be so realistic.” He was babbling to himself, forgetting that you were still very much in the room with him.

Trying to regain his focus, you were quick to get back into character. “Grand Admiral? What are we to do about this? What could he possibly want as a gift?”

Levi looked around, trying to figure out a possible solution. “I have plenty of limited edition items, this should be easy!” His voice was filled with confidence, as he went to look through his various Ruri-Chan items that were no longer in the place he remembered. A quick and easy vanishing spell granted by Solomon was much more effective than you imagined.

He frantically looked around his room, creating a mess of his once somewhat neat space. “Where are they!?” His voice was faltering, more panic setting in.

“Where is what?” You asked, confused, but calm, trying to keep up the false facade of being an ordinary game character of sorts. When he didn’t reply, you walked over and gently put a hand on his shoulder. “Admiral?”

“I could have sworn they were all here! All of my limited edition Ruri-Chan items! They’re gone! Does this mean that I missed something? Are there any other clues from that video? What could Lord Diavolo possibly be asking for if I don’t have it?” Levi paced around the room, going back to his computer to check every detail.

“Perhaps we can head to a local shop to see if there is anything of such a high value?” Trying to steer him onto the right track, you tried to bargain with him. The light in his eyes shined as he smiled excitedly. You could tell how excited he was to go on an adventure.

“That’s perfect! Yes! Let’s go! We can’t waste any time!” Grabbing your arm, he was quick to try to pull you from the room but you stopped him just before he was able to go out.

“Grand Admiral, I believe you need to change. You can’t possibly go out looking like this. Your uniform is pressed and awaiting you in the closet. I will be waiting just outside the door for you. Please do hurry.” With a smile, you headed out of his room, patiently waiting for Levi to return in his special outfit.

While waiting for him, you quickly and sneakily texted the group chat to let everyone know your current situation, and that the plan was indeed working. Mammon was the first to reply, saying that it was unbelievable that he was even buying it, and that he was gullible, which led to an argument about Mammon. But time was ticking, and he seemed eager. So you simply texted “everyone be ready” and made sure to tuck your temporary phone away.

Another minute passed and Levi finally hyped himself up enough to walk through the door. Dressed in a customized admiral outfit, you could see the glow of confidence radiating off of him. He was standing a little taller, with a more sophisticated smile. He didn’t look like the normal every day otaku that his brothers always made fun of. This was a different Levi. A confident Levi.

“Let’s go. We can’t waste any time. I can’t let anything happen to my brothers.” He ushered you to follow him, leading you both out of the door where a ride was waiting to take you to the Devildom Shoppes.

Upon your arrival, everything seemed normal, there were people all around, walking around, looking at items, just another normal day in Devildom. That was until Levi began to make his way through the crowd, with you following a close pursuit behind him. The crowd parted for him, allowing him to pass with ease, bowing slightly in his presence, just as they would for a well known and well praised admiral.

You could even hear faint whispering about him. All good things to feed into Leviathan’s confidence, should he be listening. He deserves it, after all.

Looking back and holding the door for you, he waited for you to enter the store with him. Upon entering, you could see all of the various rare collectible items. The store had everything Levi could dream of, all of the items he had thought he owned just a bit ago back in his room. Quickly, he started looking around, seeing as he was familiar with the items.

Following close behind, you made eye contact with the person on the other side of the shelf that Levi was currently looking through.

“What do you think of this?” The Avatar of Envy held up a rare figurine. “Do you think this would be enough to get my brothers back? It is a one of a kind misprinted figure.” Seeing the slight frustration in his eyes, you shook your head.

“It has to be super special. Something that cannot be replicated.” You reminded him, cueing the other person in the store to make his move.

“You are looking for something special hm?” A voice spoke, causing Levi to look up.

“Solomon?” He asked under his breath, hoping the white haired familiar didn’t pick up on it.

“I may have something that could be of interest.” The shady wizard smirked, looking around to make sure they were alone.

Levi was interested, waiting to see what Solomon had. Carefully, the sorcerer pulled a shimmering, glowing book from a magical inside pocket of his coat. The otaku’s eyes lit up, immediately recognizing the item of interest.

“What?! Is that the first ever draft of TSL? Hand-written and signed by the author!?” Levi could hardly contain his excitement. He was nearly squealing like a nerd at the sight of such a beloved item that he had never pictured being so close to. He reached to hold it.

“Indeed it is.” Solomon’s pulled the book away right before Levi’s hand touched it. “Ah, are you sure this is something you are looking for, however? It is my prized possession and I would hate to let it go to the wrong hands.” The wizard’s words were meant to be condescending, but with the confidence Levi had gained over the last hour or so, along with his long dream of owning this special item, he nodded. “I will protect it with my life, you have my word.”

With that, the book was now in Levi’s possession. He held it close to him, hugging it, and smiling with the biggest grin you had ever seen from him. Even dressed in an honorable outfit, he was still just the cute nerd that everyone loved.

“I must get going. I wish you good fortune on your journey, wherever it may take you.” Solomon smiled and headed out of the store, assumingly to head back to the castle where the others are waiting patiently.

“Now, Grand Admiral, do you have a plan for how to go about this exchange?” You asked, intrigued to know what Levi had in mind, now that he had just gotten the one thing he would very likely never let go of.

“Of course I have a plan, but we have to get to the castle. I can’t wait any longer.” With a smile, he held out his arm for you to go in front of him, leaving the store behind. Onwards to the castle.

Upon reaching the “evil” castle, you entered, and it wasn’t quite the sight you were expecting. Diavolo really had gone above and beyond decorating the place. It wasn’t the light, bright, uplifting golden color everyone was used to, instead it seemed more dull, and gloomy, radiating the “evil” that was intended.

Speaking of the devil, appearing from the shadows came Lord Diavolo, in his demon form to appear more sinister, playing the part quite well, in fact. “Ah, Grand Admiral Leviathan. I see you have finally come to rescue your helpless brothers.” With a twisted smile Diavolo greeted Levi, and Levi’s face turned from confidence to the slightest hint of fear.

Mustering up any and all courage, he spoke. “I have. Where are they? I have what you’ve asked for. But I will not give it to you blindly.” Leviathan flashed the glimmering book, earning a chuckle from the demon lord.

“Smart one you are. Very well. Follow me.” The prince spoke, guiding both Levi and you down the hallway. Luckily for you, everyone else, and Levi, he never pays attention when he is at the castle. There are too many rooms, hallways, and places to get lost, so he never bothers to look beyond where he is supposed to be. This works in your favor rather well.

There was a large set of doors, the handles wrapped in a lingering smokey magic, a seal to ensure that no one was getting in or out. Levi had looked to you, cautiously, almost worried that something bad were to be behind this set of doors that he had never seen before. With a snap of the prince’s fingers, the smoke dissipated from the handles and Diavolo slowly opened the doors.

Behind them, was not at all what Levi was imagining. He nearly froze in shock, his eyes wide, his mouth hanging open, and his brain desperately trying to make sense of what was before him.

“Surprise!! Happy Birthday Levi!” Everyone yelled as colorful confetti flew through the air. Setting a hand on the special boy’s shoulder, you guided him into the room.

“What is all of this?” He asked you, looking around to see all of the familiar faces. His brothers, Solomon, Luke, Simeon, Barbatos, and even Diavolo.

“A surprise party, duh!” You laughed, watching as the otaku’s mind shatters right before your very eyes.

“You should have seen the look on your face!” Mammon called from the corner, getting jabbed in the arm by Lucifer.

“Wait- So this isn’t a game?!” His eyes filled with concern as he looked down at the outfit he was wearing, and took another look at the book in his grasp.

“No, it isn’t a game. MC thought it would be a fun idea to lead you on an adventure to get you to actually come here. We were all in on it. I’d say they did a pretty good job!” Diavolo’s bellowing laugh was accompanied by the biggest grin.

“And before you ask, that book is yours now Levi. I know you will take great care of it. I got special permission from the author himself.” The sorcerer spoke, glancing at Simeon, who shared a pleased smile, followed by a soft nod.

The embarrassed and blushing demon turned to you. “Wow.. I-I can’t believe you did this all for me. This was the best birthday ever!!” With a shy, but excited grin, he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into a tight hug.

“I won’t ever forget today. Thank you, MC. I can’t wait to post about this!”

a/n: a christmas fic at 10 am? sure. there are no rules about time in 2020. rest of the series linked here.

You sighed as you slammed your car door closed with your hip, your movement jostling the box you were carrying, causing the bells inside to ring among the garland. Luckily, the contents of the slightly overfilled box stayed inside. You let out a sigh of relief and headed inside the arena, box in tow. The Bruins were doing some charity thing that involved decorating a tree and Jake forgot his box of decorations at home this morning, so he asked you to bring it by on your way home. It was just one more thing to do in your already incredibly busy day. Jake was always forgetting things, his wallet, his phone, his keys, his coat, everything, constantly. You frequently had to drive to the airport, ten minutes behind him, hot on his heels, with his passport in your passenger seat, so he could actually get into Canada for a game. Picking up Jake’s forgotten things was something you were used to now. It had become a habit, part of your daily activities.

It was something you did for him, because of the thousands of things he did for you. Jake was the one who told you when you were trying to carry too many things, when you were stretching yourself too thin, he always noticed before anyone else and shifted weight to himself to lessen your burden. He never let you push yourself too far, to the point of fully expending yourself to exhaustion, something you did far too often before him and something that was so easy to do this time of year. Work piled up, tasks upon tasks to finish before the end of December to be completed, along with pressing from yours and Jake’s family with activities and travel and gifts to buy, it was all too easy a time to forget to put some things in Jake’s lap to take care of. He might be a tad forgetful, but he never failed to step up to the plate if it made you happy. If there was nothing he could take on, no burden he could share, then he used every ounce of him to try and be a bright spot in your day. Jake was positive in the face of anything, incapable of holding a grudge or letting negativity rest on his mind for more than a fleeting second. He was a forever kid at Christmas, loving each present more than the last, no matter the cost or its contents. His love of it came from love for the person who bought it for him and in the intent of giving it, not in the material item.

That purity of the way he loved, as fresh as snow that has just fallen, was why you didn’t mind coming to the arena after a long day at work with a box of Christmas decorations. Because Jake would do the same for you, with an even bigger smile on his face than the one he gave you when he saw you coming down the hallway with that box in hand. He looked at you like he hadn’t seen you in ages, even though he’d kissed you goodbye hours ago when you left for work. He scooped the box out of your hands while placing a quick kiss to your cheek.

“Thank you, as always,” Jake told you, relief evident in his voice.

You never felt underappreciated with Jake, even if part of the reason he appreciated you so openly is because you were always the one tying his ties and making sure the back of his dress shirt was tucked in properly. Jake didn’t have much polish about him but you had plenty to spare and didn’t mind sharing. Relationships were a series of compromises. You tucked in shirt tails and Jake made sure you took breaks, used your paid time off from work, and always threw your towels in the dryer in the last ten minutes of your shower so he could wrap you up in a warm one when you were done, even if he forgot until you shouted his name in search of your towel. You missed the warm towels and your far too warm boyfriend when he was away.

“No problem. Happy to do it.”

And you were. You were genuinely happy to do it for him. Anyone else, and you couldn’t stand the forgetfulness of the small things, but it was Jake’s biggest fault. If your partner’s biggest fault was forgetting their wallet, you were pretty sure you’d won the lottery.

“So,” you sighed, running a hand through your hair as you did, “where is this tree we’re decorating?”

“We?”

He raised his eyebrows at you in a challenge, but Jake could only hold an expression that wasn’t a smile for so long. It fell apart and gave way to that smile you saw across the table during your first date and realized you wanted to see it for the rest of your life if you could, if he allowed you to.

You rolled your eyes, which only spurred a small laugh from him, “Yes, DeBrusk. We. I didn’t come this far out of my way during rush hour to not decorate a Christmas tree.”

Jake smiled at you broadly, then nodded softly, “Okay, okay. We’ll do the tree then. Come on.” He turned away from you, sticking his hand out behind him for you to take, “Follow me to your Christmas tree.”

You followed Jake through the arena, hand in his leading the way. You waved to a few familiar faces as you passed, who waved back more excitedly than usual. You attributed to a large majority of people’s favorite holiday being right around the corner, and the annual Christmas party tomorrow where the champagne would be flowing tomorrow night. Jake gave your hand a tug when you fell behind trying to wave to one of his teammates and you took a few long steps to catch up to him.

“You’re eager,” you pointed out as you had to practically jog every few steps to keep up with his ungodly pace.

“Always eager to do things with you,” Jake replied smoothly, but he ruined any ounce of smooth he might have had with a giggle after.

You loved that he couldn’t keep up a straight face, or really any sort of false face. What he felt and his intentions were drawn perfectly on his face every single moment of every single day. You never had to question what he was feeling. It was another reason among the many as to why you loved him.

He pushed open a door with the box on his hip and guided you in, dropping your hand to put his entire self into his best impression of a doorman. You thanked him with a tip of an imaginary hat and that smile you loved more than Christmas morning spread across his face. Jake dropped the box onto a nearby table next to a lit, but undecorated Christmas tree you assumed would be your joint task together. The room was set up for the annual Christmas charity event they did with local kids. There were different game stations set up around the large foyer of the arena, some you recognized from last year and others that were new. The largest addition was on a wall covered in netting and trimmed with red piping designed to look like a hockey net with balloons taped to it in a grid, each balloon red or green or white with a different letter printed on the latex.

“That one’s new from last year,” you noticed.

Jake smiled one of the widest you’d seen from him in a while, a smile that seemed to tell you something had just fallen perfectly into place for him. You couldn’t even begin to fathom how Jake’s mind worked, so you let what you thought his smile might have meant pass without comment. You could spend your time and energy trying to figure Jake out, or you could spend your time and energy being with him and enjoying him and the results of his less than linear thoughts. You chose the latter as Jake dumped a crate of pucks out onto the ground.

“It’s for the kids,” Jake told you as he grabbed a stick leaning against a nearby wall, “but I don’t think they’ll mind if I show you, as long as we fix it after.”

He separated one puck from the rest, handling it back and forth across the floor effortlessly. He jerked his head, motioning for you to come over and join him. A bright smile came across his face when you moved to comply with his silent request.

“So the whole point for them,” his hands continued to mindlessly shift the puck back and forth across the floor as he talked, “is to spell words by popping the balloons. There’s glitter and candy and stuff instead for them if they can do it.”

“Ah yes, the herpes of crafts,” you noted in response to the word glitter.

Jake’s ever familiar laughter rang out through the lobby in response to your statement, bringing you right along with him. No one made you feel brighter and lighter than he did, even on your heaviest, darkest days.

“God, I love you,” he breathed out as his laughter slowly came to a close. “Anyway, so it’s just like this.”

Effortless, Jake pulled a puck back with his stick on the floor, then sent it sailing forward effortlessly. The puck collided and popped a red balloon with the letter “B” printed on it, causing glitter and candy to rain down onto the previously spotless floor below. Jake didn’t hesitate before repeating his actions, targeting and successfully popping a green balloon with the letter “E” emblazoned on it. Jake paused, leaning onto the stick and gesturing for you to go retrieve your candy. He’d seen the look on your face when one of your holiday favorites had dropped to the floor with the second balloon he popped. You pressed a quick, grazing kiss to his lips before shuffling to retrieve the candy he’d freed for you, happily opening your favorite immediately and sighing with relief when the taste hit your tongue.

“Hey, get out of the way!” Jake teased you when you didn’t return to him, too focused on your candy to realize you were in his way.

“Oh, you’re still going?” you asked him as you headed back over to join him, candy in your mouth muffling your words a little.

He nodded to you as you returned to your place beside him, “And you better be paying attention to what I’m spelling. There’s a quiz at the end.”

“A quiz? After my long day of work? With your spelling skills?” You were smiling as you teased him, and he was smiling back. You were allowed to tease him whenever you wanted because he knew it came from a place of absolute and complete love. “Seems like cruel and unusual punishment.”

“It’s not too long, promise,” he informed you. “Also, it’s three words, just to help with your spelling a little bit.”

“Three whole words?” you gasped, words heavily coated in sarcasm. “However will I manage to keep track?”

Jake didn’t answer. He just laughed lightly before, just as easily as the first two, slinging a third puck against the wall, popping a balloon with the letter “M” on its surface, showering the floor below it with glitter and candy. He followed it up quickly by popping his first white balloon with a “Y” on it, more candy and glitter joining the rest on the floor. You mentally tallied up the letters so far. B, E, M, and Y. You decided it was most likely as simple as it looked, just “be my.” Jake’s hands slipped on the fifth puck, sending it wide of whatever balloon was his target, leaving a black mark on the wall instead.

“Whoopsie,” he giggled a little. “Nerves are getting to me I guess.”

“What are you even nervous about?” You laughed a little as you talked, hands fussing with your second candy wrapper that was putting up a hell of a blockade between you and Jake’s favorite Christmas candy, which had become your second favorite after all this time with him. “It’s just me.”

“Have you ever seen you?” he joked, glancing back at you so you could see his eyebrows raise. “You’re always going to make me just a little nervous, baby.”

You rolled your eyes at him as your cheeks heated up a little in response to his words. With a wave of your hand, encouraged him to get back to spelling whatever he was so insistent on spelling for you. You figured it was probably, knowing Jake as well as you did, something incredibly cheesy and Christmasy, so sickeningly sweet you’d definitely roll your eyes again when he finally got to the end. You knew his intentions were nothing but pure, just him trying to bring a smile to your face. He didn’t need to go to all this trouble to do it though. His smile did the trick itself.

Jake separated another few pucks from the pile, setting himself up for his remaining word. He took a deep breath and bounced on his heels, spinning the stick in his hands as he did. He settled down and set himself up for the next shot in one motion, letting the puck fly forward. Another balloon, this time with a “W” detailed on it, burst on the impact from the puck. You suspected it had something to do with winter, a suspicion further upheld with the next green balloon to fall victim to one of his pucks with a spray of its contents to the floor had the letter “I” drawn on it. He took a pause with the next puck, spending a little extra time lining himself up, stick swinging back and forth for a moment in the motion of his shot, but not actually letting it content with the puck. Jake took a deep breath before letting it go. You were expecting an “N” to continue with your winter theory, but the puck made contact with and bursted a red balloon with an “F” on its surface, the now familiar sound of candy hitting the floor rang through the foyer after. Now, all of your theories were thrown out the window. Whatever he was spelling, you were done guessing because you weren’t going to be able to align your thoughts with his.

Jake hesitated another moment, as if waiting for you to have put the pieces together already, but when you didn’t respond, he lined up another puck. His hands shifted on the stick for a moment, finding the perfect positioning again before pulling his stick back, then letting it snap forward to send the puck toward the wall. You watched as another balloon burst, no candy or glitter raining down this time, no newly familiar pings of candy hitting the floor following it. Instead, all you could hear was your heart beating in your ears and your body forcibly pulling air in and pushing it back out of your lungs. It was an “E”, the final balloon. B, E, M, Y, W, I, F, and E. Be my wife.

“Jake…”

He set the stick down before turning to you, dropping to one knee as he did. Your hands flew up to cover your mouth as he opened the box in his hands. He was breathing as hard as you as he watched you take in the ring he had been agonizing over, designing and redesigning, for months. Jake’s hands were shaking, the box shaking a little along with it, and he didn’t even notice because it felt like his entire body was shaking as nerves ravaged him. All you had said was his name.

“It was, um-” He paused to clear his throat because the first two words had come out choked. Jake took a deep, centering breath before trying again, “It was, ‘be my wife,’ in case you missed a letter or something. I don’t know. I didn’t actually get to do a practice run of this or anything. But, baby, I love you. You’re the most patient and incredible person I’ve ever met. I- I feel like sometimes I annoy everyone else on the planet, but I’ve never felt like that with you. You make me feel so loved and appreciated for being me, exactly how I am, and I can only hope I make you feel the same way because how you make me feel is something I wish everyone could feel at some point in their lives because it’s the single most incredible thing I’ve ever felt. I want to spend my life trying to make you feel like you make me feel and you make me feel like I’m your favorite person and I feel like, maybe just me here, but you should probably try and marry your favorite person. You’re mine and I’d really love it if I got to remember Christmas for the rest of my life as the time when my favorite person said she’d be my wife. So, what do you say? Will you marry me?”

You couldn’t speak with every possible emotion built up in your throat. You had to nod as your answer, and shakily extend your left hand to him. The smile that came across his face was the broadest and best you’d ever seen from him, and it warmed you from the inside out. The cool metal of the ring sliding onto your finger contrasted the warmth you felt inside and the warmth of his hands. It was yours now, the ring Jake agonized over for months, and he was yours now, soon-to-be forever yours. He stood on shaking legs to press a soft kiss to your lips. Forever was an odd concept at a time of year that was inherently limited, but the warmth of Christmas would hang in your heart forever, and on your left hand forever, and in the bed you shared with him forever. Christmas lasting forever, like Jake DeBrusk, was a dream come true.

Can I request a mini drabble where Acylius gets BlackHat to write with Diamond ink for the first time? It just came to me and the idea seems so cute! UwU

(Acylius was the name i gave doctor flug long before I knew it was kenning, this is black hat pre power and is at the height of 4ft 5 and Flug is six ft seven)

It was early morning, the package had arrived late last night, Black Hat already in bed.

(night before flash back)

Acylius had almost rushed to wake the short demon until his friend and butler Cruentus took him by the scruff of the neck, trust me despite being shorter he was very capable of doing such a thing, if anyone but his friend or Black Hat had done such a thing they would be a bloodied pile on the floor.

"Sir, he has been training all day in an attempt to know how to work his way around upper class rituals, I am sure you are aware he continued learning that dance just to be close to you."

Acylius tilted his head

"Cru, my dear friend that is not something to jest about, you know my feelings for him, but I know his disdain for my class...I fear he will never see me more as someone who is simply less of an ass than the rest."

The hellhound gave him a deadpan look and shook his head, he loved him he did but how he seemed to be in the presence of the densest people in the universe was beyond him.

"Yes well, then do not be an ass and wake him now, he is resting finally, it has taken him months to feel safe enough to do so, gift Amadeus in the morning when he has slept, if you wake him before nine I will personally slap you down the stairs and have you clean the kitchen."

"I dunno, I would do it, I am not above house-ow ow!"

Cruentus had him by the ear

"Bed now young man!"

"I am not that young!"

"To me you are, in fact if you recall Amadeus is older than you."

"I am three hundred plus years I am not a baby."

Acylius pouted, not moving lest his friend tug his ear and he knew he would.

"Well you are mine ever since I took you from that monstrous beast who birthed you, now get ready for bed and behave, maybe I will bring your favorite hot chocolate."

"Yes daaaaad."

Acylius smiled a little and kissed his father's cheek good night.

Acylius was pacing his room, teeth brushed a and dressed, the clock was only at eight, the gift sat on his dresser.

Ears twitching, maybe he should have breakfast, or he could make his Gremlin breakfast, yes, he did after all enjoy pancakes and he was good at making fluffy pancakes, yes he'd make blue Berry as well as lemon and raisin, he needed to distract himself.

His biggest worry in this moment was wondering if Amadeus would like it or scoff at its pretentious ideals...

To most it was an honor to say you even owned such a set or be allowed to write in it.

Taking the present down stairs carefully with him he set it on the kitchen table and went to work on making breakfast, yes Cruentus could have done it, would have done it if asked but he was a capable being he had hands and he was going to use them.

It was five to nine by the time he was serving up, his entire body itching, he wanted to wake...maybe it would be nine by the time he arrived to his room yes!

Set up on the tray stacks of fluffy pancakes and a pot of tea, a lower set of arms protruding from his waist to hold the present, he walked slowly in purpose just to make sure it was nine by the time he arrived.

The door opened and Hat looked up at him

"Looks like Cruentus owes me five pieces of gold, I bet him you would not wait to give me what ever it is you have been fretting about, you always become so giddy and bouncy when you are planning to surprise me with...are those pancakes?"

"Yes..."

Acylius replied blushing brightly.

Oh had he been that obvious?

"Are they for me?"

Amadeus asked, clearly frowning at the fact that he'd lost the bet, at least Flug assumed that was why right?

"Yes."

Flug answer ducking his head and handing him the tray.

"Well do not just stand there like a tree, I am somewhat disappointed that you did not defy your father in this case, I do enjoy the moments where you burst in unannounced happy to tell me specifically something."

Acylius paused, blinking, that was not what he'd expected, Black Hat had wanted him to be a bother?

He twisted his upper hands nervously his lower one's still present and holding the black box decorated with a crimson metallic serpent that shimmered in the light, it's fangs the clasps at the front.

Setting his breakfast down and eating the first pancake there was a contented sigh from Amadeus.

"This gift is delicious, thank you."

He unceremoniously shoved another one in his mouth after all one thing Hat had learned was that Acylius would never judge him for his natural nature and felt comfortable eating like this.

"That is not the gift you daft gremlin."

Flug chuckled now taking the box in his two upper hands as the lower set disappeared.

Black Hat quirked a long brow

"When you have eaten from bins and packets half discarded I assure you this is a gift."

"Relatable."

Acylius muttered to himself and shook his head when Hat gave him a quizzical look, but thankfully Hat could tell was not a time to ask deeper into that answer.

Acylius came forward and set the box down

"This Amadeus Black Hat is a item only a few ever own and can only be ordered by one such as myself."

"You mean rich spoiled-"

Acylius placed a finger to his lips

"Carry on if you do not want it, but no, you must be a legion demon to aquire this, it will raise your status greatly to use what I have procured for you and must only be used in times of importance or addressing certain...fops who will only respond to such letters. "

Black Hat wanted nothing more than to kiss the demons hands, he'd seen them do work, things that drove him wild and just to have one finger laid upon his lips made his body tremble and heart race.

"I will do as you ask Acylius."

He blushed realising his voice came out a little huskier than intended.

"My hands are dirty though, would you show me I do not wish to ruin this gift."

Acylius went on one knee beside the bed and opened the box for him.

Inside laid a wax seal stamper, in which Flug was more than happy to show it was a symbol of a top hat with a ring around it with the letter B H on either side of the Hat.. Oh clever the O was the ring, crimson wax and beautiful pieces of high quality paper all with his insignia.

It looked so stylish, so beautiful he had to wonder if this was some sort of joke, Acylius presented the quill, showing its sleek colouring that in the light the ebony feather shone red, the nib gold with intricate curling patterns...

No..

No he had not.

He saw the ink bottle he knew that bottle only from stories and a brief glance of seeing it in Acylius’s study.

"You...diamond ink, the blood of your kind and that of the oldest dust of the galaxies."

"I have to attend a few parties I would rather not go to but in my opinion a small price to pay, especially when I can see how happy you are."

Acylius's ears wiggled happily

"The ink lasts far longer than any other brand or kind but it does have an end to it, so still be careful and be sure you know what you are doing if you need to summon someone with this."

Black Hat nodded still in awe of this beautiful gift, the set would be out of his price range even with the money he earned helping Cruentus around the home.

After all he'd insisted he do some kind of work, he was not comfortable with just taking hand outs.

"Is there anyway I can say thank you?"

Hat asked barely able to take his gaze from the set, though he did notice, Acylius had leaned ina moment, only to hesitate and pull back.

Why, why did he play this game with him, could he not just be a cad for once and take him, he would handle the emotional turmoil afterwards that it'd been a moment of passion, he wanted this idiot Legion to wreck him, if only he'd give him a true sign that even he was allowed to make the first move, but he dare'nt lest he be kicked from this place.

He could not bare the thought of strangers hands on him, to be touched by someone who was not his tree...to be out there again...he would deal with it if it came to that but he also would not jeopardise the only place that felt like home to him.

So he thought for a moment and smiled

"If I recall at Christmas I asked if you would kiss me."

Hat subtly leaned in closer, watching as Acylius's skin started to glow like soft starlight.

Was he truly that flustered around him.

"I, um...yes you did, but I would not ask... Considering asking unless I thought you were..."

Hat took that moment to damn everything and pulled him in close by his neck tie, pancakes falling on his lap onto the floor, he didn't care, all that mattered right now was that the moment he'd kissed Acylius was that the over grown tree of an idiot was kissing back.

It was passionate and intense, he felt the doctors hands on his waist moving to hold him close, it was like the dam had broken finally at least Hat hat hoped...

When Acylius came to his senses, he looked horrified

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry I shouldn't have...I didn't ask I'll be good I promise don't hate me..."

He disappeared ina shadow travel wisp of smoke leaving Amadeus confused...and concerned that was...that was no ordinary reaction, not a rejection there were traumas the Legion had clearly suffered...was this perhaps why he was finding it so difficult to reach out to him.

What happened to Acylius...did it have anything to do with those scars or the mother he called monster, in another situation Hat would have been hurt...but that...just left him longing to reach out...and offer him the same comfort Acylius had always given him...

Perhaps one day he'd find out...

But today was not that day.

The kiss lingered on his lips a beautiful moment, a dream that was eternally his.

It can be anything I just need more cute Will haha 😂 A/N: I hope this is okay! I tried to make it as fluffy as I could, but it didn’t quite turn out how I wanted it.

Will was someone who you had never expected to be the romantic type, sure he flirted with you a lot and sent you cute messages in the morning for you to wake up to but he was very secretive when it came to relationships, it took your friends nearly a full year to figure out that you two had far crossed the line from being just friends. But despite Will’s preference to keep everything between you two, he was one of the softest and sweetest boys you had ever had the pleasure of loving.

Opening your eyes on a particularly frosty Wednesday, you take in your surroundings, beige wallpaper, a desk full of recording equipment and two strong arms wrapped protectively around you. Will. You smile and turn around to face him and was pleasantly surprised to find out that he was already wide awake and had recently showered, his gorgeous brown locks still slightly damp and a few strands sticking to his forehead.

“Mornin’ love,” he says softly, brushing a strand of hair out of your face and gently tucks it behind your ear.

“Morning handsome,” you reply just as softly, leaning into his touch, closing your eyes.

“Nuh huh, I’ll be having none of that, you need to get up we have things to do,” Will shakes you awake, his voice normal volume and he laughs loudly when you let out a groan and try to bury yourself under the covers which he rudely pulls away from you.

“Will it’s my day off! What could we possibly need to do at half ten in the morning? Its lie-in day!” You complain.

“Hush woman, just get your pretty ass out of bed and get a shower because quite frankly, you stink,” he says playfully, but pulls you out of bed and pushes you in the direction of the bathroom.

“I need clothes, William,” you chide, trying to turn around.

“They’re already in there, now stop fighting me before I Batista bomb you to assert my alpha male dominance,”

He wasn’t joking.

“Fine, if you want to get rid of me that much, jeez,” you chuckle before stepping into the bathroom and locking the door in an ultimate power move.

Walking towards the shower you start it up before waiting for it to warm up, as you stand and wait you notice a bag on the toilet seat lid, you peek inside and find brand new lingerie and pyjamas that you had been eyeing up in the store about a week ago.

“Oh Will,” you sigh happily.

You take your time in the shower, deep conditioning your hair and shaving, exfoliating the whole works. After drying off and moisturising, you slip into the new clothes and brush your teeth, smiling the whole time. How cute was he? He always noticed the small things, you hadn’t even told him that you wanted them, but he still noticed and bought the exact same pair in your size in secret so he could surprise you.

Walking out the bathroom you go on the hunt for your boyfriend before finding him in the kitchen. He was surrounded by burnt food and messy pans and he looks up from his phone sheepishly.

“Okay so phase two didn’t exactly go to plan, normally I’m alright at cooking but the one day I need it to go well I just get done dirty, therefore as substitution, our Maccies breakfast is currently being picked up and will be here within the hour, so let’s move to phase three!” He exclaims.

You laugh at how adorable he was.

“First, we clean, you know it will be on my mind otherwise,”

He nods and you two make quick work of throwing away the burnt food and rinsing the bowls and pans before putting them in the dishwasher. Once you were done, Will races you to the front room. The first thing you notice is how many sheets, blankets and pillows were on the sofa.

“Uh, Will? Are you having a sleepover?” you question, confused.

“Nope, we’re building a fort!”

You both have a blast building the fort, a couple of arguments about pillow arrangements, but you hear a knock at the door and you kick Will out of the semi-built fort so he can go collect your food while you finish up building.

“Bob the builder has nothing on you, ay love?” Will jokes to which you just poke your tongue out at him in response.

You both climb into the fort and Will sets out your food while you turn on the TV and turn on Disney plus. Will groans as you scroll through the selection of tv shows and films before you stop at a childhood classic. Phineas and Ferb. Will shakes his head with a smile at your choice but stays quiet nonetheless as you both get comfortable and dig into your food.

The whole day was spent in the fort, around 5 in the evening Will began to frequently get up and disappear before returning with a smile. You didn’t question him, you just let him get on with it because you were sure that you would find out soon enough.

A couple of hours later Will calls your name, you pause your game which you had switched to out of boredom of watching things without actively participating in it and you follow the sound of Will’s voice to the dining room.

The table was properly laid out, decorated with a lit candle and a few rose petals which made your heart skip. Two glasses of what looked like wine had been poured and the plates were full of chicken dippers and potato smileys, which made you grin widely. It was a nostalgic meal that you always raved to Will about, you used to eat it all the time as a kid, a meal that reminded you of home.

You walk over to Will and plant a soft and slow kiss to his lips, your heart was pounding hard and your chest felt tight, you were so in love with this man, you couldn’t imagine a life without him.

He leads you to your seat and tucks you in before sitting opposite you, you both raise your glass in cheers and you take a sip to find out it wasn’t wine, after all, it was Vimto. Nostalgia level 100. The entire time you were sat at the table was full of flirting and playful banter, reminiscing about times you’ve spent together alone and with friends, peeling with laughter as you bring up embarrassing memories, this was well and truly perfect.

“There’s one more thing to end the day with,” Will says, walking off before returning with a neatly wrapped gift and an envelope. “Happy birthday, Gorgeous,”

You feel your eyes begin to water, in all honesty, you had forgotten about your birthday, it just wasn’t something you celebrated to the point where on occasion you forget about it completely. You pick up the envelope and open it carefully, reading the card more tears appear as you fall deeper in love with the man before you who was looking sheepish.

To the love of my life,

It’s your big day! No, I’m not proposing, when your man starts wracking in as much as Alex then I’ll consider buying you a ring, but until then, I just want to say Happy Birthday! And I want to tell you that you are the most gorgeous, kind and talented person I have ever known and I’m glad I get to call you mine. While I may not show you off a lot, that’s just simply because I don’t want to share you, I don’t want others to see the smile you wear when I make you happy, because that smile is mine, it’s my prize and it gives me something to look forward to and work for on a daily basis.

I love you, Y/N, and I want you to be mine forever.

Love, Big Boy Will.

You laugh, tears streaming down your face and you look up to Will with the biggest smile you think you could ever wear.

“Will, I-”

“Open the present,”

You nod and pull the box closer, inside was another box, this one made out of wood that was delicately decorated. It was beautiful.

“It’s beautiful Will,” you say, putting it on the table before you.

“Look inside it, Dummy,”

Unlocking the clasps you open the lid and look inside, taking in all the little items and smiling more.

“It’s all the things I’ve collected over the three years I’ve had the pleasure of knowing you, I cherish all of them because they’re all little pieces that make us… well, us,”

The piece of cardboard they put around the Starbucks cups so you don’t burn your fingers, he had both of yours with your names on from your first date together, he has the photobooth strips from your cousin’s wedding that you asked him to go with you so you didn’t look like a loner, it was all there.

“I love you, Y/N, and I will for a very long time,”

“Well, forever is a long time,” you smirk at him.

He smiles back with a little laugh. “Then forever it is.”

We last left off at the bar scene, where an angry Min-june left the hotel bar post an argument with Robin, and her subsequent conversation with her father. Shortly after, she has a nightmare involving all the men in her life – including the one she’d met just a few days ago. And somehow, it’s that very man that consumes her thoughts for the rest of the film.

The nightmare sequence is important for obvious reasons. We already know that Ju-hyeoung is a selfish lying coward who doesn’t care for Min-june at all, that he treats her with utter disrespect then blames her for his own choices. But what we don’t know, until this sequence, is that this has become a pattern with Min-june.

The first boyfriend mocks her for being ‘nice’. The second one takes issue with her need to look after and care for him. Ju-hyeoung blames her for his cheating tendencies. The men she dates don’t see a warm, loving, genuine woman with a maternal streak - they see a girlfriend they can use and discard as they see fit. And Min-june, in attempting to be the perfect girlfriend for them and ignoring her own needs, ends up digging her own grave.

Interestingly, in her dream, Min-june focuses on the last part of Robin’s rather extensive sentence. You will be treated like trash by men, and then you’ll grow old alone. Given that this part of his dialogue sticks out more strongly than the qualifiers he used just before (“if you continue on [acting the way you do in relationships]…”), it’s possible to assume that she feels this is his overall opinion of her, and that it will never change.

I feel this impression she has - of what Robin thinks - is what becomes a major block to her recognizing how real, or deep, his feelings for her run, later on. Because she doesn’t have a context for why he speaks to her this way at the bar, the only assumption she is able to make is that Robin thinks she is a pathetic, clingy person who deserves to be treated like trash in general.

But none of this is what this analysis is really about. This analysis is about Robin’s challenge to June, and how she tackles it.

Why does Min-June take this challenge so seriously in the first place? For this we need to look at one statement that June made, the one Robin so bluntly interrupted with his challenge:

I could have a line of guys begging for me. I could, but I don’t. You know why?

The real answer to 'why’, June addresses in her exchange with Robin much later in the film (at the bench scene, where she confides in him how uncomfortable she is with resorting to manipulation and power-play in her relationships). June doesn’t want men to beg for her, even though she knows she’s completely capable of having them do so. She just wants to be able to show how she feels without having it being constantly used against her.

She takes this challenge because it’s important for her to establish that she can. That she isn’t some naive ingénue who knows nothing about relationships or people or desirability. She isn’t trash. She isn’t someone who deserves to be alone for the rest of her life. And she needs to prove to herself, as much as to Robin, that she is more than capable of playing the man at his own game if she really sets her mind to it.

The only problem is that the man she's trying so hard to 'seduce', is just as determined not to fall for it. Or at least knows how to let it not show.

Operation Beautiful

The next time we see Min-june at her workplace, she’s in a flattering floral dress and pearls. A look - in contrast to her usual professional and office-wear (the pantsuits, the smart dresses, the shirt-skirt-quarter-pants combinations) - that is meant to emphasize her femininity and play it to her advantage. She speaks of using her beauty as a weapon “that will make the enemy’s heart pound”.

But here is also where she makes a massive miscalculation. Robin is too tough a customer to snatch that way. He already has several walls erected, walls that June can’t even see yet.

Did he anticipate that June would seriously take him up on his words at the bar? The movie doesn’t exactly tell us either way.

Does he, however, know what she’s trying to do? Highly likely, given his reactions both here and the scene in his hotel room.

Robin could have ignored June entirely, or not mentioned her dress at all. But he doesn’t. He chooses not only to comment on her attire in front of her colleagues, but also to cast it in an undesirable light. Almost as if he is accepting her challenge and then turning it on its head, sending a clear message that she’ll need to try harder, strategize better, if she is to actually stand a chance at besting him.

So it’s highly possible that this is his way of pulling the rug from under her feet, ensuring he still has the upper hand in this battle that’s erupted between them.

Operation Angel

Operation Beautiful works as a short - but slightly insignificant - comedy scene. This sequence works as that, as well as foreshadowing to a very important plot point (Robin’s grandfather’s connection to Maeda). Here she attempts to conform to another trope of traditional femininity: that of “looking after” him through cleaning his office space (she even buys fresh flowers to decorate his table). This includes rifling through these things and throwing away stuff that she thinks is useless and unnecessary. And this is where she makes her second major mistake.

In the film Robin is shown, time and again, as being very possessive of his personal space, and reluctant to share anything about his private life with anyone. Even around his closest friend, Jennifer, he sidesteps any personal questions, deflects and often changes the subject. Twice, he shuts down Min-June’s attempts to step into his personal space (both times involve her seeing his grandfather’s photo).

Here, Min-June not only intrudes on his space but also unwittingly throws out the most valuable item in that office: his grandfather’s Maeda uniform. Yet, this intrusive, impulsive act is what contributes to him ultimately trusting her with one of his biggest secrets towards the end, knowing she will understand how big a deal it is. It would be foolish to miss the importance of this scene, given that when he finally chooses to confide in someone about Maeda, that person happens to be Min-June herself.

Min-June doesn’t know it yet, but she has already wormed her way into the deepest parts of Robin's life and history, and knows him more intimately than most people would.

What’s interesting about these two sequences is also the background music that plays while these two operations are going on: a song by Sweet Sorrow called Tangdanghan Kunyoga Arumdada*, which is a modern Korean jazz-inspired number that describes a confident, beautiful woman that the man is slowly falling for. This seems slightly contradictory to the way Robin thinks of Min-June if you’re seeing the movie for the first time, but makes plenty of sense when you realise that he had actually had feelings for her all along.

A 386 Versus A Pentium

So far Min-June has made two rather unsuccessful attempts at besting Robin at his own game, and her techniques and moves are about to get more and more complicated. She refers to this particular attempt as “psychological warfare”, hoping to find some soft spot in him that she can touch and exploit (he has one already, for her, but she has no clue of it yet).

Interestingly, though her main focus is to get him to sympathise with her, she also doesn’t completely rule out using her physicality to further attract him, by unbuttoning the first two buttons of her blouse. Which makes for a slightly comedic (and also some HUGE FANSERVICE 😂😂😂 for Daniel Henney fans especially) turn which Robin briefly addles her brains by opening his door with no shirt on. But this scene goes beyond just giving us an excuse to see Daniel Henney shirtless. As with “Operation Angel”, it gives both Min-June, and us viewers, a glimpse into Robin’s past - this time through a gunshot wound from his first love.

What I find most fascinating about these two sequences is how both the uniform, the photograph and the gunshot wound are framed within these scenes. They are pictured as seemingly unimportant things that nonetheless are central to understanding where Robin comes from and what matters to him.

Min-June sees these items in passing and doesn’t dwell too much on them, but by the end they are central to her understanding of him. Her intrusive discovery of them is also why Robin trusts her with the most personal, emotional parts of his life, and why Jennifer correctly guesses the two were close enough for Min-June to have seen his scar.

Once Min-June has made herself comfortable in Robin’s hotel room (perhaps too comfortable: she is caught snooping on Robin’s photograph of his grandfather), she attempts to - in her own words - “request his counsel on difficult matters and bring out his soft side”. She begins by dramatically stating outside his door that she feels like dying, and then plays on his ego by deferring to him and claiming that she has realized how right he is, and then establishing some level of proximity by asking him to teach her his ways. This is a move that backfires on her. As with the “Operation Beautiful” exercise, Robin seems prepared and is ready to have the upper hand over this conversation.

He does so by insinuating that Min-June’s thought process is outdated and unable to deal with change - comparing her with a model such as the Intel 386 (Is he the Pentium, then? Is she meant to upgrade into…him?) and stating that making changes now could cause her brain to “stop functioning from a fatal error”.

What does Robin mean when he says this? After all, this is the same woman he singled out for a project he was personally invested in, and not just because he was physically attracted to her. This is the woman he labelled as having “a particular talent for deception”, who had singlehandedly made their first step towards sealing the Maeda deal possible through her attempts at duplicity.

Interestingly, again, Min-June feels Robin’s comment is aimed at her as a person, in totality, rather than an aspect of her life. And why wouldn’t she? Robin never really makes the distinctions clear enough.

Does he really mean this to refer to June as a person? Or is he just referring to the way she handles relationships?

Funnily enough, when Robin has to give Min-June an analogy to drive home his point about relationships, he speaks in purely business terms (when a piece of stock has no future, you have to know when to cut your losses and sell. Relationships are the same…) assuming she will understand perfectly. Yet, when Min-June sasses him out on the ridiculousness of his statement, she does it by indicating that this is what he must think of her at the workplace as well.

How does Robin respond to this? By offering her a chance to prove her mettle professionally. He pits her against her co-worker and friend, Brian, for a very important deal. If she succeeds in beating Brian and bagging that deal, he will give her lessons.

I’ve often wondered about the international title given to this movie**. Seducing Mr Perfect. Who is the Mr Perfect here? What seducing actually takes place?

But the more I think about it, the more I feel the title is really an ironic take on the story itself. Min-June tries - and fails - in her actual attempts at seduction, unaware that Robin has, in a way, already been 'seduced’ by her. And Robin appears sorted and 'perfect’, only to be revealed as immensely flawed, a mass of contradictions, an emotional mess of a man - someone so guarded, and with so many walls, that he almost loses out on what’s most important to him in the process of erecting them.

“Jermaine Cole,” A rhythmic beat was being made against his wall. “Aye, Jermaine Cole. Wake yo ass up—Jermaine Cole,” He huffed slightly before he pulled the pillow from under his head, tossing it at the sound of the voice. “That’s why you missed!”

“A short list of things I don’t miss—you waking my ass up,” He mumbled from under the covers. “Get out, Ibrahim. Let me get ready,” He chuckled lowly.

“I know Cody and Bas are here, they came on the flight with me,” Ib said as he drove, keeping his eyes on the road. “Dame just touched down and got off the plane, and Court said she just hit the state line on the bus,” He explained. “Zeus and Whitney are here too, I think they came in last night,” He added.

I wasn’t with it,” He explained. “I mean I get it; she’s mad about this shit with me and B but like...fuck she gon’ do about it now? I apologized, I recognized my wrongs. I’m not about to be in this endless cycle of trying to feel guilty and kiss her ass. I got bigger shit to worry about,” He rubbed the side of his head before Ib pulled up to the traffic light, stopping for the moment.

“I feel you. It was weird. Like we talked but she seemed distant and shit. She didn’t even ask about you, it was weird,” Ib shook his head slowly. “It’s too bad, but we gotta move forward,” He decided.

Jermaine went into the closet before he took out a pair of jeans and grabbed the lavender colored polo that Beija had bought for the occasion. He changed out of his clothes and into those before sliding on a pair of white sneakers to compliment the outfit. He dusted himself a bit before he turned to face Beija, who was looking at him through the mirror as she added foundation to her face. “Yes! You look so nice,” She complimented.

He nodded as he sprayed a bit of cologne on him, and took one last look at himself. He hadn’t worn such a combination of clothes since he was younger, and he had to chuckle a bit. “I’m getting the fuck fat. Beer belly out of control,” He patted his stomach.

“You’re still kinda small,” She laughed a bit as he looked back, watching her carefully start to work on her eye make-up. “Go on outside and go make sure everything is right, please?” She asked.

Before long, the shower began and the house was filled with individuals, from Jermaine and Beija’s family and friends to their label family and some of their neighbors. The last person to go as far as a gift was Kay, but that meant it was time for the gender reveal.

“Okay baby, we got one more gift but before that—everyone let’s head outside,” J helped Beija off of the couch and led her outside with everyone else.

The crowd of people hung about at the end of the driveway while Jermaine and Beija stood near the garage, and soon enough Ib and Nicole brought out the large balloon that would reveal the gender. “Okay this is how it’s gonna go; there’s either blue or pink confetti inside of this balloon. We all know what that should mean, yeah? Cool,” Ib laughed softly as he walked over and climbed up on the small ladder that stood near the couple of honor.

“On the count of three, we’re gonna pop the balloon,” Nicole called out.

Suddenly, the popping of the balloon sounded in Jermaine’s ears, and he watched as pink confetti fell over he and Beija, his eyes widening as the partygoers cheered in excitement. His heart seemed to skip a beat as he squeezed B’s hands, the realization coming over him almost immediately; he was going to have a daughter. He wouldn’t have cared no matter what—he was just excited and within the moment he felt this surge of undeniable happiness.

“Congratulations!” Kay finally stepped forward, smiling wide as she hugged Jermaine first, then Beija. “Now that you know the gender, I can show you my gift. Come on,” She took Beija’s hand and she led her back inside with Jermaine close behind.

The three headed down the hallway before they got to the door to the nursery. Beija quickly went to open the door, and Jermaine entered behind her to take a look around. “Wow...” He mumbled as he looked around at the soft touches to the room, and how feminine and elegant the room felt. Even the crib and changing table seemed to give off this sense of style, and Jermaine smiled softly. “Mama, this is beautiful,” He complimented.

“Thank you. I know how stylish Beija is and I wanted a room to reflect that—I wanted my granddaughter to feel just as stylish,” Kay commented, and Beija turned to hug her tightly.

“I love it, mommy. Thank you so much,” J smiled a bit as he watched them embrace, and he bit into his lip as they left the room and allowed some of the partygoers to also get a look at the finished nursery.

Soon enough, everyone was back in the living room where they were congregating and talking amongst themselves. Soon enough Beija cleared her throat before raising her hand. “Hey, guys, I just wanted to say something,” She said, and the room quieted down before all eyes were on her. Jermaine glanced over at her as she took his hand, smiling a bit as she began to speak. “I just wanted to thank you all for coming. You all came from a long way to be here with us today and it personally means so much, considering everything. This has been...the happiest time of my life, and I’m happy that I could share this day with you all,” She smiled as everyone applauded and shared their well wishes.

“Hey uh,” Jermaine spoke up before he rubbed at Beija’s knuckles briefly. “I would like to say something too. If y’all don’t mind of course,” He said, and everyone grew silent again. “Today’s been a real proud day for me. Got to share a dope memory with my family and friends...and this incredible woman,” He glanced over at Beija before chuckling to himself. “Today’s not just a big day for our family, but today was the day I finally made Beija my girl. One year ago I had gathered the courage and she was brave enough to deal with me.” Some of the partygoers began to chuckle. “Despite all that, she’s been my friend for two interesting years. We’ve had highs and lows and here we are, stronger than ever before. I’m so lucky...I’m so blessed to be in love with my best friend,” He nodded, and he smiled a bit as he kept his eyes on Beija.

“Baby...you’re beyond words. I can’t begin to tell you how much you’ve changed me and made me want to be a better man. From the night I met you, I knew you were unlike anything I had ever experienced and you’ve done nothing but prove to me that God is real. I always questioned it...I don’t question it anymore,” Jermaine cleared his throat as he licked over his lips, feeling an odd wave of emotions overtake him. “When I look at you, I see God’s beauty. When I hear you speak, I hear God’s wisdom. When we touch I feel God’s grace. And our daughter...” He looked down and bit his lip. He had to get through what he had to say. He heard some encouragement from some of the males in the room, and he looked back up at Beija, who was on the verge of tears. “Our daughter is our greatest blessing. She’ll be our lifelong reminder of the love we found. God is real...He lives inside of you, Beija,” He slowly pulled himself off the couch, and he kneeled down in front of her, causing the crowd to surge with excitement and anticipation.

Beija quietly sobbed as she covered her mouth. “Jermaine,” He heard her mumbled.

“Baby...I can’t go another day without making this what it’s supposed to be. I know for a fact that you’re my forever. [Review] Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp (Mobile)

Animal Crossing is a series really close to my heart and my biggest concern about the mobile iteration was that it would be a town building game… And apparently my fears were justified as the original idea was just that. But luckily, it got scrapped and instead we got, what is in my opinion, the best mobile game of 2017.

Once you invite an animal to your campsite, they’ll be able to stay there forever.

The shortest way to describe the game is Animal Crossing Lite but honestly, that’s not really it. Sure, the aspects like decorating with furniture, buying clothes, collecting fruit and catching fish and bugs are still there but the rest is quite different. Like in many mobile games, there’s experience, levels and two types of currency. You level up by raising Friendship Levels with animals by doing requests for them (aka bringing items) or talking to them. Doing that grants you friendship points and resources. Those resources are used to craft furniture and other items. The goal of the game is to raise friendships and invite animals to stay at your campsite. To achieve that you have to hit a certain friendship level and craft a set of furniture they ask for.

Visually, the game looks great. It’s basically the first Animal Crossing in HD (amiibo festival doesn’t count) and it looks nice. Textures are nice and high-res and models looks great. I kinda wish they used the same kind of shading and ground texture as New Leaf but it is fine either way. The music is good, it has a typical AC feeling to it.

Beau is one of the most liked animals in Pocket Camp and for a good reason. He’s super adorable.

The gameplay is good and addicting. All the mechanics work nicely on mobile. Crafting furniture is, as expected, taking real-life minutes and hours to complete but so far it hasn’t been too bad. Times vary from a minute to many hours but it’s bearable. You can of course use the secondary currency to speed things up. That currency is also used for things like special items or going to a quarry that can also be unlocked by asking 5 friends for help. You can add friends via friend code, Twitter or Facebook and then visit their campsites or trade items with them via market boxes. You can decorate both your campsite and your camper and you can buy clothes and certain furniture using bells at a market place that changes products every few hours (6?).

To be fair, the game isn’t that full of content but it is going to grow and for a free mobile game that isn’t *too* greedy when it comes to forcing you into microtransactions, it is good enough. In fact, there’s already a few new villagers added.

To sum it up: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is an amazing, pretty, cute and addictive mobile iteration of a series that’s dear to me. This was the one I really didn’t want Nintendo to screw up and they didn’t. Whoever you are, you should download and play this game NOW.
