Do you think Crowley is still ‘fallen’ in the Hollow Knight world? Of course I know he’s not a demon but do you think he went with the Traitor Lord and then just like changed his king and went to hang out with Aziraphale? How would they have met in this world? (I’m sorry you don’t have to answer this but it’s like my favorite show and favorite game had a baby and I’m very excited about it (Also I absolutely adore your art))
Hmmmm, I don’t think that he is “fallen” in this version. At least not at the point where he happily lives together with Azira. And yeah, he didn’t went with the Traitor Lord an his followers because they got banned for purposely embracing the infection for more power, which he actually didn’t want at all.
Crowley and Azira build their little house at the edge of the map, far away from the source of the Radiances influence in hope they could live peacefully. (This house part especially was inspired by FL0Y4uwu’s version on twitter)
But maybe as a moth Azi had a special connection to the Radiance so she found him afterall and called out to him in his dreams (aka infecting him).
I dunno if this is maybe like the Traitor Lord’s child and the Grey Mourner’s story where the mantis tribe was against their love. Maybe Crowley left his tribe for Azi so the two could be “their own tribe”. A group of two and such XD
I think you could maybe say that Crowley has fallen when Azi died and the desire for revenge has overcome him to even let himself get infected like the Traitor Lord.
And about the “how did they met” I don’t really have a specific HC.
But here are some spontaneous thoughts: I think that Azira felt pretty lonely as one of the last moths and Crowley didn’t really felt like he fit anywhere but they enjoyed each other’s company and eventually more feelings were developed.
Oh maybe Crowley wandered through Deepnest and found a lost and hurt Azira who probably accidentally fell down from the Queen’s Station. Usually the mantises kill everything that comes from Deepnest but Crowley helped the stranger, not sensing a threat coming from the moth bug.
I dunno that was just a spontaneous idea I came up with while writing this XD

story-idea: OG!SQQ turns into a demon
I love the concept of unrepentingly evil Shen Qingqiu, we need more of that! And I have several story ideas for this, but right now one is especially interesting to me:
Humans can turn into demons when their heart demons get too strong. Well, Shen Qingqiu would make a perfect case, wouldn't he?
This could happen almost anywhere in the timeline after becoming peak lord, but how about while he's in the water prison? Binghe rips his legs off to send to Yue Qingyuan and leaves him alone. The resentment overwhelms Shen Qingqiu and he turns into a demon.
Either Binghe didn't make him drink his blood yet and he regrows his limbs. Or the transformation basically destroys his body to the point it gets rid of the blood parasites as well, then he reforms. The energies this unleashes destroy his bindings and the prison wards. He escapes. And goes straight back to the sect, only to see Yue Qingyuan hurry out to the rescue, very clearly in utter distress. Cue childhood friend kidnapping.
Well, sorta kinda kidnapping – Yue Qingyuan is startled by the changes, but follows him readily enough to wherever. And if that means fighting a guerrilla-war against Luo Binghe and Huan Hua Palace, why not?
Everyone who hears about Shen Qingqiu turning into a demon immediately assumes he turned into a huli jing (fox spirit) due to his reputation as a lecher. And this would of course also explain why Yue Qingyuan was ensnared. But that is very much not what he became.
I think it would be neat if he turned into something akin to a mantis, with mandibles and very dangerous raptorial forelegs/arms. Or a shadow demon who can sink into shadows and teleport from there into different ones. Or even better, a mixture of these two. PIDW BS mix-em-up, why the hell not!
What do you think he should turn into?

I love the current state of the Hellknight Orders because they are all just one bad Council of Lictors meeting from tearing each other’s throats out. Yeah they’re all technically Hellknights but some of the Orders have such adversarial goals that it’s only a matter of time before they just start eating each other like feral beasts.
The Pyre is dedicated to exterminating harmful cults and working against the aims of demon lords and religions that are a threat of ‘orderly society’ but their Lictor is a staunch atheist that believes ALL religions need to be eliminated because fervent belief in individual gods breeds chaotic tribalism, even that of lawful gods!
The Godclaw is the Crusader arm of the Hellknights but is all about the Godclaw pantheon and advancing lawfulness under the united front of those gods but UH OH the current Lictor thinks there’s a sixth god that should be added and it’s fucking ZON-KUTHON?! He hasn’t told anyone yet and just has this secret shrine to Zonny boy in his Citadel and privately worships him in his “six pronged claw” and it’s a huge secret but MAN wait when that shit drops?!
The Pyre and Godclaw are going to take everyone else out in their war, but that’s not even getting into the beef the other Orders will find with each other?!
The Scourge is actively investigating House Thrune and is firm about its independence from Thrune and Egorian’s dottari... and then you get The Rack which are basically Thrune lapdogs that happily round up all the old history books with “wrong” history and dissenters and purge them on behalf of the Infernal Majestrix. Abrogail II literally has a hit out on the Scourge with the Red Mantis Assassins (holy shit) which Jakalyn publicly announced and so THE SCOURGE KNOWS?! Like they KNOW House Thrune has a hit on their knights in Egorian!
When is THIS shit going to go down?! It’s pretty much the Rack’s fault why Hellknights have such a bad reputation as being Thrune lackeys because they love to lick those dottari and Thrune boots! Meanwhile the Scourge is being hunted down in Egorian’s streets by former Gray Maidens (lmao!) for daring to investigate the crimes of Egorian’s elite and House Thrune!
What will the Nail do? They’re the largest of the orders and there’s so much disagreement in their own ranks on what they believe is savagery and what really needs their attention! Maybe we should stop brutally colonizing the Shoanti? There’s like, actual banditry out there and actual monsters to slay? Maybe their Lictor can have his wasting curse mysteriously fully progress and their lawful good centaur Master of Blades can become Lictor instead, yeah?
Meanwhile the Chain just got the biggest PR boost from Cheliax rolling out their “I can’t believe it’s not slavery!” in the Firebrands book but are they even going to agree that this new infernal-backed indentured servitude is lawful? They care more about real criminals than runaways (and more often than not imprisoned abusive ‘Masters’ for breaking their side of the ‘contract’ too). I guess it’ll come down to how profitable it is, huh Lictor Adom? His pockets need to be frisked. He needs a full audit.
Anyway I think they should fight. I think it’d be really fun to see what comes out of it. I think it’d be awesome if the Rack just stop existing because they are undoubtedly the worst.

Out of curiosity, what was the reception to Azula’s character in Book 2 and 3 way back then
Oh, thank you for this ask, anon.
To really encompass the (online) reception is to consider opinions across various fan sites and forums from that era (not only for Avatar specifically but also animation communities in general), the fanfiction of the era, and the livejournal community.
For my part, I’ll state up front my limitations regarding this topic: I really only flit in and out of a couple of forums during book 3, and stuck around some after the finale. My experiences reading ATLA fics of that era were in the wake of the finale. And my experiences with livejournal never centered around Avatar. I can supplement this with reading I did of Azula discussions on an old Avatar forum recently.
I’ll also tag @captain-azoren if he wants to add his input, and leave this open to anyone else who has more firsthand experience with that era.
That said, here’s what I can say from a mix of what I remember from back then and read more more recently:
fairly early on, people kept being surprised that Azula is only 14; people confusing her for Zuko’s older sister has always been a thing
There were a couple of people who picked up on the possibility of Azula feeling neglected by Ursa, but this wasn’t a common observation
In the build up to book 3, a theory that Azula supplant Ozai is the main antagonist cropped up.
“The Beach” was a turning point in some ways. It was divisive, with some wanting to throw it out/ignore it for Azula “appearing too out of character” while others appreciated for humanizing her some. A fair bit of surprise at depicting Azula as something other than heartless. (Of course, others just laughed regardless.)
The finale, while largely praised for Grey Delisle’s performance and The Last Agni Kai, was divisive in regards to what Azula’s fate likely was and should’ve been.
A lot of claims of Azula being a sociopath flying around throughout all of this. (So many…)
As to the direct question, overall I’d say some appreciation of her as a villain, and some strong dislike/demonization. And just saying the latter doesn’t quite encapsulate the intensity of that demonization, or the insistence that other people also agreed. For that, I’ll just drop some selected quotes from forum posts made in 2007:
Well she was loved or admired greatly by her father and grandfather. She is soooo evil though its like she is not even human. No compassion what so ever. — a poster on Azula
Real intimacy is completely outside the scope of Azula's understanding. I've had this image in my head for a long time of laying next to Azula, having done the deed -- and her turning into a preying mantis and biting my head off. — a poster regarding Azula after “The Beach” aired
I really do think that Azula would throw away Ty Lee and Mai without a second thought. She Doesnt even have a friendship to keep her normal like Sozin did. Shes more like her father, has no emotional attatchment to any one not even her family. She only looks out for herself. — a poster speculating about the second half of book 3 during the seven month hiatus
Azula is truly the descendant of Sozin and Ozai. A Roku/Ursa side is virtually nonexistent, unlike with Zuko. — a poster regarding Azula after “The Avatar and The Fire Lord” aired
So what we're saying is that she wasn't MADE evil by some outside force. She became wicked all on her lonesome. So, you could say that she WAS born evil in a sense. Ever since she's been physically capable of complex thought, she's been a bad person. — a poster regarding Azula on what “Zuko Alone” said about her
I’ll also point out that most of these statements got some pushback at the time. But nonetheless, these are some pretty wild takes.
Anyway, I don’t feel comfortable trying to put ratios to that reception, but I do think overall there are more people sympathetic to Azula now than back in 2005-2008, as well as looking at her character through different lenses.

You know... maybe if you weren't so unruly and weird, your dad would be giving you cute little pet names, too. Just an opinion, though :D
(( for Kiba, listen he came to PATRONIZE ))
"Haaaah?! What makes you think I want to be called stupid weird names like that? I'm not a baby! My name is Kiba, and that's how I want to be called! That's the name the Lord picked for me, so it's perfect!!"
Veins had popped along the boar's forehead. Was his jealousy really that obvious...?
"And in any case, you're not my dad. You're not even mantis guy's real dad, are you?! Demons don't have children! And I sure as hell don't get why anyone would want a disgusting loser like you to be their dad!!"

Soul variant index (2023)
[List incomplete; I don't think I have the energy to continue it, but wouldn't hurt to share the trivia bits I did manage to do. I can always answer questions about variants anytime, and this list is already starting to lag when I type anyway hahaha]
Here's a list of all the Soul variants I've created this year (sorted earliest to latest). I'll be updating this as I draw more, and if it's wanted enough I'll make more of these lists for other years in the future. --- Long list below! ---
A Soul of many hands: Body is connected by many different hands and dark patchy skin. Written work has yet to be finished.
Walking Chair: Skeletal species that assists humans with tasks such as ferrying people and carrying groceries. Intelligent, only wears saddle when not on work break.
The Cult Slayer: Previously just a goat before an attempted ritual sacrifice went wrong and gave him immense power instead. Very social and loves storytelling. Lawful Good.
A good little boy: A living doll that rarely speaks and is highly obedient, only serving the witch who currently owns him. May have been human once.
String Wyrm: Fluffy dragon with multiple sets of stubby legs (not usually visible under his fur), though can move across the ground quite quickly. Constantly searches for food to steal and often sounds like he's chuckling. Will squirm around if picked up.
Lesser Crest Bird: A species that often stands around like a statue, with different poses theorized to convey different meanings. Can be approached and seemingly unbothered by humans but will retaliate if attempted to be moved. Intelligence questionable, seems to have preferences for certain standing spots.
Aquatic Maned Dragon: Shy but playful. Travels to different bodies of water via rivers, and mainly feeds on fish and small marine animals (seems to leave birds alone even after watching them for a while). Will take interest in any human belongings that have ended up in the water.
Turtleback Seahorns: A seaside-dwelling race that values family and branching alliances with surrounding groups. Exceptionally loyal and honourable even when not exchanging favours, and when a life oath is sworn the two partners will gift each other's crests to wear upon their other horns.
The Divinely Punished [Body Horror]: Assigned guardian to one of Lord Death's sacred temples after having received divine judgement. While he was initially chained to his post, something appears to have caused it to break loose and consequently free him.
Creature Centaur: A strange centaur made up of an unidentifiable creature. The eye he holds can often be seen floating between his horns, and the right side of his face has always remained obscured, most likely for the better. A fairly normal dude otherwise.
Mantis Centaur: Half person, half mantis. Unintentionally condensed Maka into a ball of silk when his instincts took over, and he seeks to repent with a way to undo what he's done.
Centaur Train: A spirit guide that helps souls and sometimes other entities safely travel through different parts of the afterliving. Is extremely enthusiastic about trains to an almost obsessive degree, but his passion can make him easier to get along with.
Mewtwo Centaur: One of the several results of a dubious cloning experiment. He was a collaborative effort of the "permanent Mega Evolution" and "human-Pokemon hybrid" departments, though he was also the first to escape when he quickly grew too alert to be contained. Currently resides in solitude while seeking the original human he was cloned after out of existential curiosity.
You can't just call a Naga a Snake Centaur: Part Demon Weapon, part couch nuisance. He can shift into a more human-looking form with legs but often prefers to stay in his natural appearance, especially when eating or sleeping. Maybe I'll give his Weapon form art someday.
An Incomplete Centaur [Mild Body Horror]: Despite his horrifying appearance he's actually quite lonely. He's taken to living in the woods or outskirts of towns as while he wishes to befriend someone, he keeps getting footage of him uploaded to the internet as an infamous cryptid/creepypasta legend.
Reverse Centaur: Lives in a world where animals combined with human bodies are the norm, as well as having to go to school way too early in the morning when he could be sleeping in. Will eat insects and small creatures whole on frequent occasions.
Steel Bird Centaur Part of a well-known family that prides in its Skarmory and Corviknight heritage, having ended up a high-ranking guard for his strategical skills despite appearing heavier than should be able to fly. Wears an Aggron based armour that he was gifted after besting one of the mountain people in combat and leading to their alliance.
The Luthier Apprentice: Dropped out of DWMA suddenly despite being so close to finally becoming a Death Scythe. Not even his friends know the reason behind it, especially as he dropped all contact too and decided to work under the music shop that's close with his family. It's been years since then but he's finally smiling again, at least for now.
A Soul with Glasses: He wears glasses. Left to interpretation.

Cape-Watch Monthly Bulletin- April 2023
Hey, y’all! This is your host, Christina Cabello, welcoming all of you back to another Cape-Watch Monthly Bulletin! April may have the day of fools, but it also brings many new challenges for our favourite heroes, some of which are detailed under the cut!
Far-Flung Future Fighters
Our first story marks the second time that the world has been made aware of the superhero group known as The Guardians of the Cosmos, the self-proclaimed ‘greatest heroes of the 31st century’, a group of humanoid superheroes who last appeared in mid-February to whisk away the Guardians of the Globe on a still unknown mission to their time. In the two months since their last appearance, very little information has been learned about this mysterious group, leading some to wonder if their claims are indeed true, and that they are time travellers from some far-off future Earth.
This time, however, the group did not require the aid of any present heroes. They suddenly appeared in downtown Singapore, hot on the heels of some sort of large reptilian creature that was busy wreaking havoc on the city-state. From what staff at the newspaper that spoke Malay and Mandarin were able to translate from local social media posts about the incidents, it seems that several members of the group were also present when the Guardians disappeared for three weeks.
Naturally, this reappearance has sparked a social media frenzy around them, which was only fuelled by the bevy of new information that was learned. For example, we now know several of their names, such as Robot 10 (perhaps a descendant of the current Robot), Miss Viltrum, Gigantic Lad, Magna-Boy, Madame Mist and Bow-Bot. While perhaps a touch more generic than the aliases we in the present are used to, their skills speak for themselves: the group managed to subdue the wild creature, which they call a ‘Blorfkorl’, in a matter of minutes, before vanishing almost as quickly as they appeared.
So yeah, one of those stories.
Prison Break
Our next story is definitely a cause for concern. Last week, the government supermax prison known as Stronghold Penitentiary was breached by the earth-shattering supervillain Doc Seismic, which caused the impromptu release of some of America’s most notorious superpowered criminals. The total number of escapees is still unknown, but from this statement by US government liaison Peter Schlottman, it’s not looking good:
‘I won’t sugar-coat this: this breakout has the potential to be one of the greatest national security crises that the US has experienced since the Cold War. As we speak, all available police and military are being placed on standby in the event of a major supervillain attack near Chicago or any other densely populated. Under the advice of a special counsel, the Governor of Illinois has decided to temporarily enforce martial law upon the state until this issue can be safely resolved. We have also mobilised every available superhero into the efforts to locate and recapture the escaped villains. In the meantime, I wish for the public to know that we will not rest until they can sleep soundly once again.’
Some of the most notable names among the many escaped villains include members of the infamous Order, such as the gargantuan Octoboss, who made his escape with the assistance with several of his Squidmen minions, as well as the Irish crime lord Slaying Mantis, who is expected to make an attempt to get back to his home country. A more surprising escapee is the pernicious performer Orchestro, who used his hypnotic singing voice to coral several other villains into helping him. Look out for that one, California.
A Field Day for Monsterfuckers
And for our last story... I’m sure you can guess who this is about from the title.
For those of you who are still in the dark, I refer of course to the Californian mystic Magic Man. Ever since his reveal of his demonic heritage and the many abilities that come along with that fact, the hero has proven a favourite with those among us who prefer romantic with less than perfectly humanoid physiques. Over the past few months alone, multiple pictures have surfaced of the San Diego Sorcerer displaying many demonic traits, from elongated fangs and a pair of what appear to be ram horns to a long spiked tail and even a large pair of flaming wings. Points for creativity.
Another vocal supporter of Magic Man’s powers of transformation is none other than Multi-Paul, his boyfriend. When asked about his love life, the former teen hero had this to say:
‘Oh, I am living the dream! I mean, ever since I watched Gargoyles as a kid, I’ve been into that kind of stuff! And now I’m living with a guy who can do all that plus magic? You’ll get no complaints from me!’
The most recent event to send this specific internet subculture into a frenzy, however, happened a little over two weeks ago, when Magic Man fought against the stage magic themed villainess known as Miss Direction. In response to her summoning a giant snake from a playing card, the wizard decided to transform himself into what can only be described as a full-blown demon, complete with razor-sharp teeth, a pair of sturdy goat-like hooves, and colossal flaming angel wings. After dispatching the large reptile and defeating Miss Direction, he chose to keep up the new form, flying off instead of teleporting as he usually does. Needless to say, the internet was into that.
And that’s all for this month, folks! Once more, a big thanks to our sponsors, who keep the lights on around here! Also, a fair warning: due to some hectic assignments I’ve been given, I might not have the time to get the May or June editions out, so bear that in mind! And finally, always remember to stay safe, stay hydrated, and tune in next time for more of the biggest superhero stories around!
