Breathing was laborious, but you knew that if he didn't get any help, Aiden would probably die on your bathroom. There was no time for crying, despite it being all what you wanted to do. Your service oath and heart however, prevented you from calling an ambulance.
First thing first, you dabbed the tears away and kneeled besides Aiden, your hands sauntered so ever gently to where the darkest patch of blood was. Some glasses protunding from his side and his torn clothes. You saw the tweezers, bloody and abandoned on the sink along a large piece of glass.
His shirt was undone, probably in a hurry to try and attend himself. You finished the unbuttoning quickly to allow the air in easier into his lungs. You bent over near his face, and could feel his breathing. Slow and paused. Then you reached with your hands on his chest to feel his heartbeat. Contrary to his breathings, his heart was in a frenzy
I must hurry
Once you had identified the cause of his bleeding, you begun working in removing as much glass off his skin. Being careful enough to not damage any further the tissue inside and around and cutting yourself with it. And that's when you saw it, a gash that went inches away from his belly button to upwards above his hip.
Gunshot?
The bullet probably had ricochetted in other object before making it to him. The gash was less invasive than the bullet itself.
Thank goodness it wasn't a gunshot completely. I don't have that sort of equipment here and I'd be forced to call an ambulance. Still... I should be.
You had removed as much glass and debris you could. The top priority was to make his bleeding to stop. Rumaging through your first aid kit you fetched the distilled water, alcohol, antiseptic cream, the bandages and the pins after washing your stained hands.
Going into work mode again, you first washed up his wound and with a gauze and distilled water, cleaning up as much dried blood as you could to have a better view of the injury. Some of the water had washed away the smaller shards you couldn't reach, the more you cleaned, the clearer the damaged area was.
His lateral right side had been penetrated by the glasses, and the gash done by the shot had only burried some shards deeper, making him to bleed profusely as the glass only made the wound wider from inside. Blood kept coming, and once you ran out of gauzes you applied the sanitary pads to absorb the remaining blood.
I swear when you wake up...
"Wish you had passed out in the guest room." You grunted upon lifting his torso up to try and remove his shirt. "Cause you're so freaking heavy." You managed to remove the shirt from his left side. It had small traces of his cologne, that eventually faded away by the metallic scent of his blood.
You took a moment to breathe to then remove his shirt completely. His torso being hauled up, made his wound to bleed again. You immediatly put another pad on it as the shirt was discarded. You noticed the bullet hole's entryway near the seams, and the exit in the opposite side.
It grazed him. That would explain the nasty gash.
You desinfected the wound as much as you could, since you had little antibiotics and antiseptic cream. Thankfully the shards had barely reached the peritonium. You could see his flesh, muscle and tissue along a tiny fraction of fat, spilled in layers, missing by little the bone.
"I can't stitch you up yet. Need a surgical level tweezers and clamps. Fuck..."
You ran your hands through your hair. You hadn't noticed it, but you were shaking. It was either in exhaustion or nerves. You rumaged once more through the first aid kit, but didn't find the object you were needing. Then you searched through the lower drawers and found a couple of occlusive dressings.
You removed the pad and replaced it with the dressing. A little amount of blood had pooled around the wound but now that he was secure and his bleeding controlled, you removed the shoes, only to be stained once more by blood on your uniform. One of his socks was soaked. And so did the pants.
Removing clothes off from patients was a regular thing you did. You removed the scarf around his neck, paying extra care to it since you recognized it in his old Vigilante outfit. However, it couldn't be helped that it got smeared with blood by your fingertips in the removing process.  You undid his belt and removed the socks. The right leg of his pants was attached to his skin. And they were also removed gently. His boxers remained on him, despite the right side being stained.
Aiding yourself with a scissors to cut his pants off and remove them without moving Aiden that much. You were careful enough to not create any further stress on his body. However you had a whole new problem ahead. You'd have to find a way to take him to the guest room.
Shit. Bad timing to put on pale blue sheets.
You sat and exhaled deeply, watching him. His chest heaved softly, up and down, breathing steady. Reaching for him, you placed your hand above his heart and smiled in relief when it's pulse was in a normal range of beating.
Fucking idiot. Giving me death scares.
You sat on the floor and yawned. It was a full shift you had done and now this.
Guess it never ends, huh?
Sighing you stood up and examinated the whole scene. There was blood on the sink, on your mirror, bathtub and faucets. There were bloody footprints on the floor and that's when you noticed the trail left behind. There were tiny droplets in some spaces.
The door handle!
You grabbed a rag and some cleaning supplies and ran towards the main entrance. The blood had dried already but you managed to clean it away. The building was quiet, everyone stuck to their business. The elevator dinged but none was inside. There were no visible blood within it's walls.
Can't imagine the sort of trouble I'd get if there was blood everywhere.
Your neighbors sometimes came to you for minor things, such as stitching or to read their medical results. Hence why you always kept your medical supplies full.
You once helped a man to make it to the hospital. It was an elder neighbor that had suffered from a heart attack. Last thing you knew was that he moved back with his family.
Thankfully there was no blood outside to clean up. But inside it was a mess. Specially on your carpet and bathroom.  Rushing to the kitchen you concocted a mix of baking soda and vinegar to then apply it on the stained parts. It was to avoid leaving a stain and odor. Your nose caught the whiff of the metallic scent coming from the bathroom.
"Goddammit, Aiden." You washed your hands and soon went to grab two of the thickest blankets you had. The idea was to prop him ontop of the sheets and drag him to the guest room. It was a few meters apart but, hauling Aiden's body surely would result in alot of pain and even more stress for your body.
But I can't just leave him there. Shit.. I have a half shift tomorrow. Maybe I can get some clamps and other instruments.
You gasped upon realizing what you were thinking.
"Fuck... I don't steal. Nor do shits like that." Groaning in annoyance you went to the bathroom with the sheets and exhaled.
"I can do it." You slowly and gently began putting the sheets underneath him. You moved him carefully, like when you were removing his clothes. And once he was ontop you grabbed the corners of the blankets and began pulling.
"Fuck!" You wheezed as you moved him to the entrance of the bathroom. Struggling to carrying him. It'd be a hard task.
"At least I'm sleeping good today" or that's what you expected. You removed any sort of furniture in the way to have a clear path. And then went back to haul him.
"I swear" you pulled and grunted, "when you wake up, you'll-" again, you pulled and panted. "Never hear the end of it." You were now in the middle of your livingroom.
"I'm supposed to be angry at you." You pulled as you kept making your way towards the guest room, "But you don't care about that." You stopped and laid on the floor, in the opposite direction of Aiden.
"I hate you right now." Your hands went to your face as tears menaced to fall again. "Cause even angry I still worry about you." You sat and looked at him. He looked peaceful. Pale, but peaceful.
"You can't keep doing this, you know?" You wiped the tears and stood to resume your hauling. You checked here and there that the occlusive dressing was still in it's place. A bit more of blood had pooled up, but nothing too big that needed replacement. At least not right away.
"Acting like a reckless idiot. Thinking you're invincible..." you finally got on the guest room and sighed in relief. You took a final sharp inhale before hauling him nearby the bed. There was a faint tapping in the window, it was breezing.
You took air before taking him by underneath his shoulders and secured his torso, as if embracing him to then plop him as gentle as you could on the bed. You removed the scattered pillows and finally managed to prop his other half on the bed.
The room was small. But cozy enough to keep a guest comfortable. The bed was positioned horizontally against the bottom of the room. A nightstand next to the bed and the window on the wall opposite of the nightstand. It had an airy looking courtain. The room was hot but it was perfect for Aiden to warm up as he started to lose temperature.
One of the sheets he had been on, was smeared in blood and the other one was dirty. He just laid there, one of his legs covered in dried blood. So you grabbed a rag and cleaned up over his skin. There would be spaces he'd need to do for himself once he was awake.
If he awakes that is.
You shuddered at the thought and soon, put a light duvet on him.
I think I have serums somewhere. But I've got no IV's. Nor clamps or surgical thread... fuck.
"You'll have to hang in there for a bit of time, Aiden."
Your phone rang.
Leaving the room and Aiden alone you got to the livingroom and picked up your phone. Erik's voice coming through the other line.
"Hello." "Hey, chérie." You yawned and stretched your legs.
"You sound exhausted. Are you ok?" "Yeah, it's been a... very busy and crazy day. How are you?" "Ah, you tell me. The accounting on this place is a mess. I gotta fix it." "I see. Is everything alright?" "Yeah. Hopefully I'd be back before expected. I miss you." "I miss you too. "Did something happened?" "W-What? No. Just had a thirteen hour shift." You looked on the guest's room direction.
"Alright, now is gonna be a dine, wine and massage now." "That sounds wonderful." "Can't wait to see you, love." "Ah, same. I'd love a hug right now." "Are you sure you are ok? Do you wanna talk about something?" "I'm sure. It's kind of exhausting. My job I mean. But... I love it." "That's good. Good. Hearing you makes me feel at ease. I just arrived and damn. It was chaos. Everyone in the accounting apartment were telling me that this guy fucked up. Another one tells me that his reports do not match. So much to do." "My goodness. And I'm here complaining." "Don't say that, (Name). You help save lives. Wish I was that cool."
You chuckled softly and sighed. "How come you always know what to say?" "I don't know. But your hapiness is my priority." "Ah, now you wanna make me cry."
Erik laughed in endearment and then he cleared his throat.
"I eh... gotta go. Escaped from the chaos to talk to you." "It's alright. I really appreciate it. Talk to you tomorrow?" "Of course. Don't forget to rest. You'll need it when I get back."
Your cheeks burned in heat as you laughed nervously. "You're such a hornball." "Your hornball. Talk to you later, love." "Alright, chèrie. Good night." "Nights."
The call ended and you sighed. The blood in your clothes had dried, creating an uncomfortable texture on your uniform and on your skin. Aiden was as clean as you could leave him. But you, you needed a hot shower. A big dinner and sleep. But sleep could wait. You had to figure out how you'd get clamps, IV's and blood.
He needs a transfussion as soon as possible. But IV's are more important. He needs antibiotic to prevent an internal infection.
You went to fetch your phone and looked up for medical supplies pricing. Some stuffs were cheap, others kinda made you reconsider to call an ambulance on Aiden. But, you could order the basics. Injectables cephalosporins antibiotics, IV solutions, serums to keep him hydrated, IV kits, needles, gauzes, more occlusive dressings, vaseline, bandages and idonine.
You also took the chance to order whatever suppply you were running short on. The bill almost made you cry, nearly three thousand dollars.
"It'll be here in fourty five minutes." Sighing, you got the chance to clean up as much as you could and throw away his clothes. His phone however was on his pants, you rather not touch it and put it on the guest room's nightstand.
You cleaned up the bathroom and finally got yourself a bathe. The water came out orange until it ran clear. You scrubbed your skin twice. You felt so much better upon wearing on clean clothes. And your uniform along the sheets was put in the washing machine.
You gave Aiden a last check up before seating to eat. You were starving and the food felt heavenly. But it was put aside upon the delivery man showing up and handing over to you the medical supplies you needed. You put the things on the table and finished the meal, despite it being all cold.
You washed your hands and went on work mode again. You turned his injured side to pull his boxers down and expose the area to desinfect it. The antibiotics were injected. And soon, you turned him to lay again.
"You need a tan." You half chuckled and put the sheets on him again. Then, you prepared the IV kit along the serum to keep him hydrated. You weren't sure when he would wake up. But you were glad he wasn't dying on yout bathroom floor anymore.
You yawned and sat on the floor, stretching your arms and legs again. Then checked on the IV fluids and sat in a corner of the bed, watching Aiden.
There was a lot of scars on his body. One if them stood out the most, it almost came across his chest, passed his pectoral area and stopped barely above the shoulder. His shoulders and arms were also full of them. His knuckles had faint scars that mostly had disappeared over time.
His chest was pale, in shape and broad. But his face was the one that made you stare at him. Never in your life had you looked at someone that seemed so peaceful. Out of worries, life's preocupations and troubles. For once you couldn't see pain, or anger on him. Just peace. You double checked his breathings before going to the livingroom and turning the tv on. The usual broadcast was interrupted by a sudden news alert.
You frowned and turned the volume up.
"Horror and terrible moments had been witnessed at the local and distinguished bar Clifton's. Police arrived at the scene upon a 911 call indicating there was a shootout."
Your hand covered your mouth in utter shock as you looked in the guest room's direction.
No... no. This is...
"According to an anonymous witness the club had operated in clandestinity on the sub levels, several women were found, along some dead bodies. Police is now investigating the case. Apparently, sources have linked these dangerous people with the crimes of the recent cases of missing women-"
Your lip trembled and your breathing hitched.
Aiden wasn't lying...
Sighing, you curled in the couch. Too exhausted to even go to bed but also too exhausted to be anxious . All the tiredness had finally crashed on you. You just closed your eyes.
----- You opened your eyes abruptly  and looked at your phone nervously.
10:30 am
"Fuck." You groaned and stretched. Your steps guiding you towards the guest room. To your surprise Aiden was still on the bed. Again, you checked on his vitals and the serum. The bag was almost empty. You replaced it with a multivitamin and minerals serum. Along more antibiotics.
You made sure to replace the occlusive dressing after cleaning up his wound with distilled water. And applied a thin layer of vaseline.
"You better rest up." You took his temperature and frowned upon feeling him warm.
If he keeps with a fever, I'll have to get a doctor... but where?
Sighing you went to the bathroom and got ready for your shift. Luckly he'd be so weak that he won't be able to move in case he'd wake up.
Just in case, you wrote a note and left it on the nightstand.
"Do not stand up."
You left for work.
-------- Your nerves wrecked you completely, clamps weren't expensive, you could actually order them. The bad thing, they'd came within a week due to shipment issues and Aiden needed to be stitched as soon as he could.
There was the storage, and some products haven't even gotten into the list officially. You didn't know if you were lucky, or someone above was testing your morals, since your tasks for the day around 5 pm was to do the inventory with the new supplies. And those included the clamps.
You were also worried about Aiden. What if he was awake? What if he escaped with a serious injury? It was a lot to process and thankfully the day was busy enough to keep you from overthinking.
You skipped lunch as you now were doing the stocktaking. You were in charge of a small portion and another coworker of yours did the other part. You counted sixteen clamps, ten stetoscopes, several boxes of gauzes, ten stitching kits and other supplies.
If I steal them, I'll be in so much trouble.
Sighing you put the packages and numbered out. It felt so wrong to steal a couple of clamps. But so ever discreetly, you tucked them into your pockets. The suture kit was another thing you needed, along the suture thread.
I better be careful.
Looking around you hid the kit and the thread inside a carpet that was big enough to hide both. You put the thread inside the kit. And finished with the stocktaking. From 16 clamps you only reported 14, 9 stitching kits and 11 suture threads.
Sighing, you went to your locker, avoiding as much talk as possible. And hid the things inside your purse.
Oh no... no no... I just... stole. Fuck.
Nausea overtook you and you paled for a second.
"(Name)? You ok?" You heard Rita from behind you and nearly jumped when she came close.
"Y-Yeah... I'm just not feeling well." "Oh? What's wrong? You look pale." "Uhm.. M-Maybe the salad I got had something bad. Didn't look at it too much." "Want some tea?" "A chamomille one, yeah." "Nah, a star anise would be better. C'mon."
You followed her and glanced back, discreetly at your locker room.
How can I do such things? Oh God, I'm such an awful person. But... it happens all the time right? I mean, Aiden needs it. And I'm sure this isn't the first time the supplies get stolen.
Your heart sped up upon watching Michael looking at the inventory charts and frowned.
"I'd need to talk with our provider." "How come?" Said Rita as she pulled out a satchet of tea.
"They keep sending us the wrong number of things we asked for. You sure you counted right, (Name)?" "Y-Yeah. I mean Yeah. I even double checked the boxes. The number was uneven" "You ok? You look-" "I think my lunch made me sick."
More like me stealing right under your nose.
"Be careful on fast food. People are getting sicker these days." Michael spoke as he signed up the chart with a frowned face.
"Did you guys watched the news last night?" Michael served himself a cup of tea. "About the shoot out at Clifton's? Yeah. Eau Claire is getting dangerous." "Well, seems we are getting some of the injured people transferred." "Oh? They're the new patients?" "Yeah. One of them died in the place. It was a russian man." "Yikes."
Michael grunted and sipped his tea. "You tell me. We'll receive some injured women and a businessman next week, that also was injured." "My goodness. What happened there?"
You just listened at the idle chat among Rita and Michael.
"Apparently the sublevel of the club operated illegaly. Meaning they had women, drugs and other things." "What?! Like for real?" "It's Eau Claire. This sort of sexual thing keeps happening. And police doesn't do much." Rita shrugged and sighed. "You didn't hear this from me, but I've heard things. Like rumors." "About?" You asked as you drank your tea.
"Well, that the guys that operated in the club are actually a part of a mafia." "Mafia? In Eau Claire?" Rita shrugged at your words and washed her hands. "That's the rumor that goes on. And the other one is, that they're involved in the cases of missing women back in San Francisco."
"So they came here to do the same?" "I don't know, (Name) but I'll take my guess they do. I mean, missing women, some butchered. Others never were found." "That's fucking sinister." Michael scrunched up his nose in disgust and sighed." In any case, we gotta prepare. We'll need the psychiatric ward's help. In the meantime, you girls be careful."
"Thanks, Michael." You nodded and sighed.
Aiden was not only right, what if... they find out about me?
----- "Uncle Aiden?"
Lena's figure crouched next to him and touched his face gently.
"What are you doing here?"
Aiden could only stare back at his niece. It was exactly as he remembered her. Blonde hair, big toothie smile and happiness plattered all over her freckled face.
"Uncle Aiden should not be here." Lena's voice distorted to a playful high pitched one as she moved her toy lamb. Pretending it to be the one who was speaking.
"Hmm. You're right, Mr. Lamb. He shouldn't be here."
"Lena." He croaked. His hand seemed to reach for her face but he stopped. Too fearful to break the illusion and to turn into something else.
"Hi." She giggled and sat next to him. "Hey." He nodded and he wiped his eyes, "How... How are you?" "Well, kinda sad. Because you are sad." "No no. I'm... actually very happy to see you. You're well and... alive." "Oh? Well... you are alive too. Is that good?" "Yeah. Very good." He smiled between contained sobs. "Is jackson alright?" "He is. Yeah." "Does he miss me?" "Alot. Everyone misses you. Me specially." Lena curled up next to him and Aiden could feel her irradiating warmth coming from her little body. He finally was able to place his hand on her head softly. Wich, Lena giggled. "Is mommy ok?" He nodded and wiped his eyes again. "I like it here." Lena yawned and pointed with her fingers to the horizon "There are no bad men that... shoot us."
Aiden gulped and looked at her. "If I could do things right all over, I would." "You're so silly, Uncle Aiden." "It's my fault you're dead." "Am I? But... I am alright. See?" "And I wish it was all real." "Is this a dream then?" "It seems so." "Aw, shucks. But... you know? Still, I like  it here." "I'm sorry you didn't get to play a bit more. Or fishing." "Ah don't worry. I never caught anything anyways." "If I wouldn't... have done the things that I've done. You'd still be here." "Well, it's not your fault." "It is." "No. Did you know the bad men were coming?" "No. Not really but-" "Then why you say is your fault?" "Because... the bad things I've done led to all of this." "Hm... I don't think so. But... if you say so." Lena shrugged and stood up, "I think it's time for you to go, Uncle Aiden." "I'd like to stay here-" "No." Lena shook her head and smiled. "You still have to say sorry. And fix alot of things." "But-" "No buts." She giggled and waved her goodbyes to him. "Be a good uncle, ok?"
He opened his eyes and blinked a couple of times. He didn't recognize the place. His panic rose, upon watching his hands being bandaged with sticky tape to hold on the IV needle and fluids connected to it.
But the lavender scent invaded his nostrils.
(Name)...
As he tried to stand he felt a small pain from his right side. He removed, although a bit violent, the IV needles and fluids. His body felt like jelly, wobbly, weak and drugged. His hands bled.
There was a note on the table next to him, but he could barely read it. Why he was almost naked, he didn't know. His skin felt sticky and the last of his fever had abandoned him completely.
He failed a couple attempts to stand up, his mouth was dry. And there was no water around. His throat burned and his body felt sluggish. Tired as if it was telling him to go back to bed. But he didn't listen. He crawled and supported on the walls.
------
Your nerves were on edge again, but you were relieved you were going home to enjoy your free days. Or at least that's what you were thinking. As soon as you arrived, you rushed towards your apartment. Your blood ran cold upon watching Aiden supporting himself on a wall but he slipped and fell on his knees.
"Mon Dieu, qu'est-ce que tu fais ?! arrête ça!*" you rushed towards as you yelled at him nervously. You threw your things in the couch and kneeled next to him, trying to reach underneath his arms. He was sweaty, maybe from the fever that had broke out in the morning. Your hand palmed his forehead.
No more fever. That's good.
Aiden looked at you, both confused but somehow relieved.
"Hey. Look at me. How many fingers do I have here." You showed him your hands "I'm fine." he croaked. "The fuck you are!. Your side is open for fuck's sake!" His eyes darted towards his side and his hands ran above the injury.
"Too sweaty." He laboured and you stopped the haste with a sigh. Nothing good would come from him being yelled at in his current state and you sighed to then mentally calm yourself down.
"Ok. Let's... take this one step at the time. Listen to me, Aiden. You are seriously injured." "I can't... stay." "Well, too bad cause you've got nowhere else to go. If you go, you'll die!."
You could tell he was still under the effects of the analgesics. His slurred speaking, erratic movements, and his struggle to keep awake.
"I'll stitch you up, but I need you to follow my instructions okay? Hey... " you snapped your fingers on his face wich he responded with a stare on your direction.
"I'll change the bedsheets ok?, but I do need you to stay still. Understood?"
He just stared at you, his green eyes seemed watery. His hand tried to reach to your face but it failed.
"...rry." "I don't understand what you're saying. Right now, I need you to rest in the couch. Can you help me with that?"
His eyes were glossy now and you gulped.
"My fault." He mumbled as he curled his face on his hands. His breathing hitched and you could only stare at him in confusion and panic.
Is... is he crying?
"Aiden?"
"Lena..." he half choked half whimpered.
Oh...
"Saw her. She... she...." "Hey." You cupped his face gently and then held his hands, "you can tell me all about it later, ok? I promise to listen. But right now, I need you to lay on the couch so I can clean your bed, ok? Then you'll bathe." Your thumbs dabbed the menacing tears away from his eyes as his hands reached for yours. He was trembling.
Don't forget what he did.
Pushing your inner turmoil aside, you placed his arm around your shoulders and grabbed him on the other side of his torso to secure the grip but also allowing enough space to not collide with his injured side.
"Ready?" You hauled him up and he grunted but managed to stay on his feet. You walked slowly, careful to not stress him and laid him carefully on the  couch.
"I'll be right back." You disappeared into your bedroom and came out with a new set of sheets. You ran towards the guest room and could actually seize the magnitude of the damage he had done. His IV's were on the floor, there were a few stains of fresh blood on the bed.
You stripped the bed and desinfected it. Luckly there were no bloodstains on the matress yet, wich you were grateful for. You put the clean sheets on and let the air to get in. Then you picked up the broken IV needles and serums and also desinfected the area. It smelled clean and no longer metallic and sweaty.
You then washed your hands and looked at Aiden. He was now unconscious on the couch.
I'll let him rest and once the drugs have gone out his system, he'll take a bath. And then, I'll stitch him up.
Your thoughts were interrupted by a constant buzzing. You thought it was your phone but upon checking, it was quiet. The sound came from the guest room, and when you saw his phone buzzing, you panicked.
Glancing at the door out you saw Aiden was still laid on the couch.
The buzzing stopped and you sighed. Then, it buzzed again, spiking your panic even further.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
Nervously, you gulped and then grabbed the buzzing device. The name "T-Bone" on display.
Pressing the green button, you spoke. "H-Hello?" "Aiden?!" "Uh..." "Who is this? Where did you get this phone?" His tone was nothing but hostile and it wrecked your nerves but it also made you angry.
"Who are you?" "I asked first." "Are you Aiden's friend?" "Depends on who is asking." "Cut the crap! Are you or not?!" You half yelled but quieted down. "Dammit woman. You have a loud yell. Is Aiden ok?" "Yeah. He... he is fine. Passed out in analgesics I administrated him, but yeah. Sorry for yell-" "Administrated him? What are you? A doctor?" "Ha. Close. But no. I'm a nurse. He.. uhm... thought it was a good idea to break into my home and bleed out in my bathroom." "Fuck... that asshole... I told him to go to a hospital." "I told him the same. I... eh... fuck. I had to s-steal some medical equipment from my work place." "Ooh. Bad girl." T-Bone mirthed.
"Yeah, yeah I know. But I needed them. I could order online but they'd be arriving until next week and well... Aiden's injury cannot wait until next week." "How bad is it?" "It's bad. He uh, my best guess is that a bullet grazed him making a gash on his side and then some glass exploded and it got incrusted inside him or viceversa. Thankfully there is no peritonitis to worry about. Or else, we'd be fucked." "Geez... when he awakes tell him that T-Bone called." "T-Bone... ok. I'll tell him. Uhm.. Could you-" "Need something?" "Uhm... Eh no?.. wait!. I need antibiotics. Uh, Cephalosporines. First generation to be more precise and more IVs. He uhm, broke the needles. Used my whole medical supplies at home so, yeah. Antibiotics, IVs, analgesics, if you can some anesthesics, iodine, surgical level tweezers and disposable gloves oh and a pint of his blood. It'll be a small surgery and will need a transfussion for later."
"I see. Want me to get a spot on a hospital too?"
"I'm being serious here!. I used all my supplies and the ones I ordered are running short."
"Alright. Alright. I'll see what I can do. he'd deserve whatever pain he is in right now, though. He's an idiot."
"Ah yeah. You tell me. I'm supposed to be mad at him. Actually he isn't supposed to be here... but I can't just kick him out, you know?"
T-Bone just chuckled as he was hacking into a nearby pharmacy database to 'order' the things you just needed.
"He told me something like that. So you're the famous Clara's sister, (Name)?" "Yeah... Not to be rude but I'm kinda concerned as to how much personal info Aiden has given out." T-Bone cackled and you frowned.
"Man and here I was thinking Aiden was paranoid. Look, doll. Don't worry. I'm actually helping Aiden. Ever since he knew you were a protected witness and that the guys had escaped, he went on full on vigilante mode to try and get them. He was trying to protect you. Not that I am guil-tripping you here, but Aiden is worried about your safety."
"He has a very... hurting and strange way to show it. I don't hate him. I do hate his reckless actions that end up hurting others. But... I don't hate him. I just want an apologize on his behalf for what he did and said to me before going back to San Francisco. But... it's Aiden we're talking about."
"Who knows. It might surprise you. Anyways, the medicines will be arriving soon. In 30 minutes to be exact. I'll see what I can do about the blood pint."
"How did you... wait. No don't tell me. Uhm... if its too much to ask, do you by chance know a doctor? That makes little questions and just do their job?"
"When do you want them?" "Tomorrow if possible. I'll stich him up today, but in case I've missed something, they'd spot it better than I do." "Alright. I'll see what I can get. Call back if anything happens." "Thank you, Mr... T-Bone?" "Mr? Haha I know I'm old... but better call me Raymond." "Alright heh. Thanks. I'll let you know of his progress." "Just one more thing, girlie. You see, Aiden is more cooperative when you don't bring up anything about his family or Clara. That's kind of his... Achiles spot. "Okay?"
T-Bone hung up the call and you returned to Aiden. He was deep asleep on the couch.
Seizing that he was passed out, you got his used bedsheets to wash up, along your uniform. You changed into a pair of sweatpants, a tshirt and slippers. Then you made dinner. You came up with a roasted chicken breast,  stir fried vegetables and a fluffy white rice. But for him, you made him a chicken chowder and vegetables to a side.
Just as T-Bone had said the medicines came. And you were surprised as how much medicine worth you had on your hands.
I could even help people in the building.
T-Bone had sent, two medium sized boxes of injectable and swallowable antibiotics. Analgesics and a couple of bottles of anesthetics.
You ate on the kitchen and then put your laundry to dry. You cleaned up the remains of blood you had missed on. It took Aiden a couple of hours to wake up.
This time he woke up abruptly.
"Aiden" you called but he was rushing to the bathroom, limping to be more exact. You could hear him retch on the toilet as you pulled out an electrolyte drink from your fridge, then you prepared the livingroom for the small surgery.
You saw him coming out of the bathroom, holding his side as the toilet was flushed.
"Where..." he croaked and cleared his throat. "Where is my clothes?"
"In the trash. Here, drink this. You're dehydrated."
You gave the electrolyte drink and he stared at you for a moment before taking it and drinking.
"There is food as well. Made you a chicken chowder and some vegetables. You need to eat something." "How long I was out?" "Nearly 18 hours."
He sat back carefully and finished the drink.
"I... need to go." Aiden stood but the pain doubled him over and made him to get back to sit.
"Yeah? Good luck with that." You shrugged as you washed your hands.
"I think I have some spare clothes you can use. You need a bath, and then we'll do a small surgery." "And then I'd be good to go?"
You exhaled in exhasperation, trying to keep your anger at bay.
"In case you haven't noticed you have a deep gash on your side that nearly cuts your peritonium open. And you just want to go out and go hunt whatever criminal did this. Do you hear how absurd does it sounds?"
He sighed and held his abdomen.
"How bad is it?" "Bad. You'll be out of being a Vigilante for weeks." "Weeks?! No... that's way too much lost time. By the time I am able to get back this bastard had been long gone from here."
"Well, things are how they are. You can't speed up a healing process."  "Look... You don't understand. I need to  go back. Is there any way I can get out quicker?"
Here he goes again.
"You know what?... I won't even waste my energy trying to convince you from doing what you need to do. You'll take a bathe, I'll stitch you up and I will give you prescriptions so you can get out. But let me tell you, once you leave that door, you better not break into my home ever again and dare to bleed out in my bathroom and beg me to help you again, cause I'm sure calling an ambulance and the cops on you and let a hospital to deal with you."
He frowned as he tried to recollect his thoughts as he could remember you trying to get him to the guest room.
"The least you could do for once on your life is listening and be thankful you didn't die. Now be a good boy and eat your fucking food so you can actually widstand the effects of the medication and avoid damaging your liver any further with the antibiotics you need."
"(Name)" "What?" His attitude had certainly change your caring attitude to an unprofessional behavior that you'd be surely fired for.
"Thanks." Your brow arched in suspicion at him, yet you just sighed and took the plate with his food to him, almost kneeling to put the plate on the table infront the couch.
"Just make sure to eat it. Let me know when you're done." You stood but he took a hold of your wrist, softly. Your eyes locked on eachother for a brief time, then you looked away.
"I mean it." He mumbled yet you fred your hand from his grip softly.
"Just eat, ok?" You mumbled and left him be. He infuriated you so much, but it also made you sad. It felt odd that no matter what you tried or acted, his actions confused you. First he was cold and then was warm. But your resolve had been done, not that you held a grudge. You simply knew that being around him was pointless and dangerous.
And now that you were in a better position in your life, you didn't want to keep interfering in his. It was obvious he didn't think of you as friend, neither an acquaitance. Just someone he could use.
He came here because he knew I could help him. I'm still so naive in thinking he would... change. Or at least try to. But it's neither of them.
You could hear the tinkering of the plate and spoon. You went to the bathroom and prepared him a warm bath to help his skin to be cleaner and easier to work with. You were about to pour the liquid soap when you heard him calling you.
You were sure it hadn't be more than fifteen minutes. You stretched and went to the livingroom, removing his plate. He looked at you but you were focused on your task.
"Bath is ready. There is a clean towel there. Wash the wound with this one." You gave him a pack of distilled water and a pair of  clean and loose fitting sweatpants.
"Can you walk without help?" "Yeah." He felt at odds by your sudden change of behavior. Was this the regular working you? Or you were still mad at him? The way you instructed things felt so mechanic and void. Almost routinary. He was just another patient for you. He did thank you, didn't he?
His feet however betraid him and that's where you stepped in and helped him to reach the bathroom.
"If you need help getting dressed, call me." You helped him to get in the bathtub and closed the room for him to have privacy.
In the meantime, you were desinfecting the couch and put on a clean sheet ontop to avoid staining the seat. It took him several minutes to be clean and get dressed. He called you to help him get to the couch, wich you did.
"Lay down." You instructed. You then fetched your armamentarium and laid it infront of him. You prepared the syringes with the anesthesics and got the stitching kit.
You'd be fired from the hospital if you ever got to perform a surgery independently, since you could only proceed with a surgeon or doctor in sight. But this wasn't the first sort of stitching you did. You only had to do it bit by bit. You put on some sterile gloves, a robe on and a surgical hat along a mask to avoid any contamination. The room was lit enough for you to see properly.
"Ready?" "Yeah."
And soon, you got to work.

Service January
This month I visited the childrens hospital every week on Wednesdays. On this day we again cleaned up the playing areas and desinfected the surfaces. Depending on the ward more or less children play there, and depending on the hour we sometimes meet and play with them. As back then we were there in the morning no children were available.

Environmentally friendly Laundry Detergent in the Future
Tumblr media
Many new natural and eco-friendly innovative ideas and services happen to be emerging in typically the past decade; masking all areas in the market from eco-friendly furniture to innovative cutting edge environmental washing balls or even laundry balls of which are used for greening up your current laundry washing. Just what are wash tennis balls one might wonder? A wash basketball is a laundry product that, in essence, replaces laundry cleansing soap. Though the designs of the balls can vary; most have one point in common: that they replace the dependence on laundry soap and supply clean green laundry! Eco Washing Projectiles generally use some sort of Green ceramic structured pellet washing design inside the balls; of which has the ability to of cleaning and desinfection cloths; just while traditional laundry soap does. Once the ceramic pellets are usually introduced to the water within the cleansing machine; they instantly go to job providing Eco laundry. The pellets in the laundry ball cause a chemical reaction using the water; effectively altering the ph level of the drinking water to almost the particular same effect since laundry soap does indeed. The most visible benefit of the alteration of typically the ph level within just the water is it helps the Clean Ball to eliminate oils and dirt's in the clothing. Takeaway Bolton of Eco Washing Balls job like this; typically the pellets located within the Eco laundry ball itself discharge a special infra red stream involving rays; of which often help in the busting down from the normal hydrogen within the drinking water. In essence; typically the pellets within the particular laundry ball crack apart the large clusters of hydrogen within the water and make a new whole bunch of small clusters. The particular reason that small clusters are best is because with the small ones typically the molecular motion from the water is improved; ultimately allowing for the to very easily penetrate the materials within the cloths; basically turbo recharging the water intended for Eco laundry programs. Besides the Eco laundry manipulation of the particular waters ph level and the breaking down of the large clusters of hydrogen within the water; typically the Eco Washing Basketball pellets emit negative ions that assist to soften just about all the fibers in the cloths. By softening the fibers, along with the other aspects; the Eco Cleaning Balls allow with regard to the dirt to recover from the cloths faster, cleaner and much easier; providing 100% Green Laundry. By utilizing Wash Balls; one particular would do not need00 classic laundry soap. Presently there are many diverse types of laundry soap; but on average, Procter and Wager reports that typically the Usa washes regarding 100 million tons of laundry every year. That works to be able to be about 35 billion loads of laundry each yr. A separate record, released by The particular Coin Laundry Assn, states that generally there are an predicted 35, 000 coin-operated laundries located throughout the United Claims. As the average load of laundry fees about $0. 14 per load; although Eco Washing Projectiles is able to do the identical work; providing very much the identical results; for around $0. 04 per Ecosystem Green Laundry fill. Newer and much more Eco-friendly models of Cleaning Balls for Natural Laundry are apparently good for up to 1, 000 loads of laundry. The majority associated with Wash Balls can easily be used throughout either front packing machines or leading loading machines. Ecosystem Washing Balls happen to be available in numerous sizes and styles. Laundry balls employ no harmful chemical substances; which reduces the allergic reactions some people experience using conventional laundry soap along with the effect that cleansing clothes has in the planet; effectively offering completely clean Green Laundry. For just about all Eco Washing Projectiles it is recommended that they end up being placed in direct sunlight for 3-5 hrs once a month to replenish the particular natural and strong core in the device; the pellets; inside an effort to be able to provide the consumer with ongoing Natural Laundry. After excessive use; the pellets will begin in order to shrink in proportion. That is also recommended how the Eco-friendly Rinse Balls be substituted once the pellets within reach some sort of reduced size of regarding 50%. Some laundry balls are constructed using hardly any PVC or BPA; staying constructed in an Environmentally friendly fashion utilizing Natural materials like SEBS. By providing a good Eco-friendly alternative to laundry soap; Cleaning Balls are quickly becoming popular due to the fact they offer an economical, energy efficient in addition to nature preserving Environment laundry cleaning answer.

— ✕ things levi does to get ur attention
Tumblr media
pairing: levi ackerman x tea shop!reader/oc ☕️
genre: hc | some v peaceful slice of life
↳ in which a certain staple customer tries 101 indirect ways to get the tea shop lady to notice him (which she already did, but anyway). the oblivious mf just can’t say it directly.
warnings ⚠️  brief innuendo, cursing, ptsd mention. otherwise none, just fluff.
✖︎ caro’s note: i imagined it like this — with both of them at similar ages, written in 3rd person POV, retired!levi-centric. he uses both a wheelchair and cane here. it’s very much set in the far future.

Levi tips well, if not the most generously. It’s really a lot. Not that he’d ever fully notice or admit it. His mentality: Every 20 minutes spent in here means another tenner, so what. There’s not much else he’d splurge his pension on. The Ackerman household is (you guessed it) as spartan as can be, nothing has changed in that regard. The survey corps already paid him above his means back in the day, he couldn’t spend most of it being so involved in… well you know all these things. Levi knows that personal money means nothing in war, but basically everything when he can have a piece of cake on a Sunday morning. Prepared by her, that is. So he’ll take full advantage and allow himself to lean back a little. Also: He’s always ready to donate for children in poverty which has a little piggybank on the tea shop counter. Nothing he could appreciate more, it’s a huge concern to him for reasons we’re all familiar with.
The whole money thing is not really motivated by power and class. As you’d expect from a guy who came from humble backgrounds and never cut these roots entirely. Levi simply enjoys gift-giving in all shapes and forms. Plus: He’s aware how the economy needs a boost and cash to go around up in here. Yes, he considers it a present just like he sees being handed tea as one. Money is very puzzling and special to Levi who never had a hand on it in early life. Now that he reaps what he sows from doing the very most, he’s a little uncomfortable saving it, or sitting on it like a treasure dragon. Levi has many an edge in his behavior, which he tries to keep in check — and the motivation for them fades over the years since peace arrived — but greed isn’t one of them. Exactly because he finds money a precious opportunity, he thinks it should be with a person he finds precious to begin with.
That he’s generous and thinks keeping money ain’t that important to him is pretty automatic. Levi’s hoarding millionaire energy is pretty low. Is he a sugar daddy? Well... more like a charitable grandpa with a tea addiction. He keeps as much as he needs for the coming months or potential big repairs, doctor visits and whatnot, but really wants to support the café — I’ve blocked this table long enough today“ is what he’ll mumble when he’s slipping her a whopping 60 bucks. Of course he didn’t block it. There were enough free seats for everyone, at least six of them. And him sitting there is not exactly an inconvenience. He’s in high regard, never causes trouble, remains a magnet for new customers, and looks just mighty fine and dapper so what more do you want. Regardless, Levi will reach deep into his tailored pockets and enjoy spending his (probably desinfected) coins well on something that matters to him a lot.
— ⌜ acts of service ⌟
During rare occasions, we’re talking once a week, if some customers act strange, rude, or enter the shop just minutes before closing time with a huge request which is every retail worker’s number one nightmare — his inner policeman awakens. Sharp critic and experienced leader he is, Levi can get any inappropriate person to do whatever the situation requires (translation: leave the shop) within two sentences or less. Either by a stinging analysis or making them feel vastly self-aware, or both. The tea shop lady has already developed a laid-back attitude about staggering drunkards and sexually suggestive guys since Levi handles it for her with impeccable foresight and effectiveness („Get lost… Ugly stinking brats!“ — that simply does the trick). He knows that these people are miserable, but they shouldn’t take it out on the tea shop and make its kind owner work overtime.
So, his presence immediately de-escalates offensive situations and destresses everything. Not one person tried to talk back yet. They all run for the hills. Levi knows very well that she can tell them off or dump tea on their heads herself. But that would be a waste of valuable material, and it’s more fun to see Levi disintegrate perverts, delayers, idiots, and dudekarens. He never considers it time wasted while she gains in peace of mind and focus on her passions. Win-win. Nobody with funny business dares to visit the shop anyway ‚because Levi Ackerman reads the newspaper there‘ and people know that Mikasa shops for crispy baguettes on Sunday which could be repurposed as baton swords if she wanted, so.
In other words. Levi coincidentally gets her favors and attention by being preemptive about the atmosphere in the shop. We all know his zeal and indirect ways of loving someone with acts of service. He considers it his responsibility to guarantee that someone he likes will be unfazed. And because Levi is a man like a brand cuz he’s a Capricorn, he carries that attitude everywhere. Call it flirting by integrity and making sure she’s never bothered again. He’s really making himself useful and that’s a good damn thing. It’s been years, but you can’t take the protectiveness out of him so why not let him do all the work. Ole man still got it, friends, he still got it.
That Levi steps in as the good reliable guy is funny knowing his past philosophy has been: ‚what terrible world, I’ll be the monster then‘. The change of mind appears to be genuine, and fueled by outside circumstances anyway. Levi has no reason to be a bad boy on duty. First, because he’s not a boy anymore, and two, there is no need to really get your hands dirty in ethically complicated war games that feature humans becoming titans. It seems like the Ackermans have enough wit to go with the times. They probably don’t even realize. But he’s been motivated towards good for long and that doesn’t actually change. Levi thus has less of a need to seem and appear good (i.e. tweaking his character) but more of a natural reflex to get rid of harmful influences without putting the whole house block into shambles.
Levi is by all means not a 100% model citizen (a hairstyle model yes, but you get the point), he simply says ‚oh fuck me‘ too often (Freudian slip) to be considered one, but he’s seriously doing good work and also made progress with his PTSD. The tea shop is a calming environment, Levi reading and eating there just has a safety factor with low triggering moments, if at all. Especially the pleasant smells of cinnamon and oolong and coffee are very far from putrid titan breath — fucking yikes — as you can imagine, so Levi appreciates that and naturally blocks anything trying to disturb the little paradise. Very vigilante justice, but also a natural deterrent for weird customers. And yes: He does want to have an irreplaceable role in her life and channels it that way. It’s akin to his eagerness to leave a clean table and empty plate.
 — ⌜ his appearance ⌟
Not just being the shop’s innofficial anti-annoyance bouncer is Levi’s rather um subconscious attempt to dally with her. He’s also flexing his body outright. Starting with good posture because a captain always remains a captain. Then, going on with perfume, hair wax, carved cane, accurate shaves and always a signature suit and tie. Which he wears a lot for most other occasions anyway, but for his tea shop visits he’ll check his appearance twice and thrice. Levi never slacks, he’d scold any other guy for wearing unsightly jeans if they were a thing. And yes… he wonders what kind of guy she prefers often, visually. Well he thinks, being well-groomed is already half the formula (he’s right). That undercut has a 5 millimeter shave sharper than his blades back in the day.
A nice navy color tux ensemble goes a long way and he insists that being in a wheelchair is no excuse. It’s just the way it always was: He wants to be presentable and goes many an extra mile for sure. Anti-moustache zone, heavy deodorant, and those rippling abs are going strong. So, imagine the waistline, ugh. It’s banging. The thighs and upper arms, too. Levi’s fit as hell, what did you expect. It’s not like he wants to outright say I can wind in your sheets all night. Rather… he’s trying to convey that he’s taking care of himself. His ‚i-will-find-you-and-i-will-bathe-you‘ reputation and inherent hygiene regimen would already speak for itself, but he does want to show it off a little. Again, that’s not something he does consciously. Levi’s innermost impostor syndrome thinks and insists that he mostly flies under the radar when it comes to serving body.
Levi isn’t very convinced of the mysterious sex appeal that others attribute to him either, he rather goes by his own standards and pushes them to an extreme. Motto: „Tch… Only a trim man is a proper man.“ Insults someone uses are telling, ain’t they: Stinking and ugly is the last thing he tolerates, after all, and wants to be someone to look at, someone practicing what he preaches, too. His consistency is very hot if you ask me. In fact, he desperately wants to be her type and dream guy if he’s honest. So Levi listens closely when she compliments him on his shiny shoes or pleasant scent. His heart skipped a beat the last time she pointed out how nice his black tie is. Levi knows every method to make an expert knot to make it look stylish, by the way.
If he’s out there brewing and concocting his own skin lotions I’d not be surprised. Little does Levi know that if a girl just loves your smell, you really don’t have to worry and your wooing game is A+. Nevertheless, he invests in perfume, a little luxury. Everything she compliments him on becomes a staple in his wardrobe, even though he experiments sometimes for something new. He irons it all to perfection anew. Levi is at the point where he says to himself, come on old man, don’t you bore her, give it your all, You Only Levi Once.
There are different scarves and watches and socks and razors and shampoos and nail clipping styles he gets into regularly. Dandy Levi, imagine that. Or rather, gentleman, his attitude is not poshness 101. The aesthetic effort is very appreciated and doesn’t go unnoticed. It’s not like Levi could ever camouflage himself, a lot of people look at his wheelchair in the first place, and with that handsomeness and great hair he’s always eye-catching. Carrying himself that certain way is just so distinguishing and also really fits into the café which has a bit of a retro vibe going. He’s at home here, he came home, he feels like home, he wants it to be his home, let’s not beat around the bush.
— ⌜ being proactive ⌟
Levi’s other automatic mode gears him towards caring about her business more than needed. Again, this guy isn’t nosy or tries to show off his power, he is just fucking hopeless and psyched up to see her. Communicating in his language so to speak. „Good morning. There’s a cobweb at your window“ is a frequently-heard sentence when he buys croissants for breakfast. After noticing a dozen things to polish, he takes it upon himself to whip out a little cloth from his suit to quickly sweep the area within split seconds. Most guests are wide-eyed at the thought of being expected to clean as well. But Levi goes „Eh eh, sit down. It’s already taken care of. Just don’t spill your coffee and create a fuckin’ hassle. Same for crumbs, you heard. Okay, then.“
People do stay alert, ready to scrub, and I guarantee you that nobody will ever litter the shop and the pavement in front of it, but the obvious fact that Levi isn’t taking it too seriously anymore is a cause for relaxation. The tea lady takes care of the venue well, but she’s sometimes busy baking so Levi will sneakily dusts the underside of his table before he pays and leaves. It’s all too typical, but he wants her attention by being neat and observant. Part of Levi’s value system is that he thinks only men who look after their environment are truly good for a woman. His philosophy is always not to be lazy, although there’s another part of him that just wants to sit at his table in silence and rest. Which isn’t hard for him to do, introverted as he is.
In those cases, he tries to keep his munching and slurping unobtrusive. Also for the reason to get her attention. By being mannered (coming from a guy who never holds his tea cup by its handle, thus being the least invisible person in the room). Funny how he’s big on morals and manners when his body is so— mhh. Immoral, almost. I don’t think he’s informed about just how eye candy he is. Even that accurate cake forking style is pretty hot. The way he stirs the milk in counterclockwise, too. But we digress. Levi likes to be a little proactive, then. Can’t blame the guy, things aren’t very orderly after these devastating times, so he helps where he can and where his cane allows him to reach. The man might be her undercover waiter and maintenance worker without actually working anymore. Real talk, he’d do anything for her without any loan.
— ⌜ so... does she notice, then? ⌟
The ironic thing is. How does one not know and pay attention to Levi Ackerman. He’s so famous, even haters’ entire existences revolve solely around him being him. Levi knows like 2 people on the street but the whole street knows Levi. Of course the tea shop lady has noticed him, and not just because she’s a good and jovial senpai sparing him a mercy glance. Nah, there’s way more. His antics are always positively amusing (y’know, inducing a sweet chuckle) and in character, often congruent with rumors about him. Levi is simply an authentic guy who lives up to what people say and what he says. She’s not very bothered that he targets the rowdy cobwebs she missed. Better publicity if your shop window is spotless, duh. And Levi dusting tables is just a cute and attentive thing to do.
Not to mention how good-looking he is at his staple spot, eating in style like that. Flying under the radar is not a cleanly gentleman’s effect. Levi Ackerman is the 5′2 David Beckham of the Attack on Titan world. And a raging unintended comedian on top of it. Ignoring him is virtually impossible. She knows very well why he comes to the café daily, too. Our man’s ever-shy flirting technology is just very very obvious. Extra perfume when he’s not headed anywhere else on a rainy Tuesday? Come on. Levi’s extra tips are well-spent and invested, and she always has his favorite tea brands in stock just because. Doesn’t he behave like her partner already? Only a matter of time until the universe is catching up y’know. She’d like this gentleman in her life.
Truth be told, he’s there so often when nobody else is, that includes ungodly Monday hours, even during thunderstorms or beach weather — it’s basically dating. Levi’s not at the point of buying flowers. But he’s deliberating about it and the day will come when he comes to the store with a white bouquet bigger than half his body or something. It’s not like you can’t read it in his face how much he admires he hell out of this lady. She’s already chatting him up about the headlines and local administrations regularly, and whether the new cake recipe could use some tweaks because Levi has the sense of taste of a gourmet chef. He knows her cat’s name and brushes out its fur on his lap. These three could be up to something without a doubt. Levi with his tea shop lady is a match made in cozy croissant heaven.

Okay! Results are in!
Thank you to the 284 of you who responded to my survey on the provenance of Buck's dishwashing gloves!
Tumblr media
38.4% of you (109 votes) said that Christopher picked them out while they were shopping together at Target! This beat out the next highest category (Buck bought them for himself) by 47 votes. So, a pretty decent margin.
Thank you, Christopher, for your services!
Below the cut is the rest of the results, as well as the write ins
Buck bought them for himself - 62 votes (21.8%)
They're actually Eddie's and Buck stole them by "accident" - 40 votes (14.1%)
Housewarming present from Bobby - 25 votes (8.8%)
Housewarming present from Chim - 24 votes (8.5%)
Housewarming present from Maddie - 15 votes (5.3%)
And the write ins (copied and pasted as is):
eddie gave them to him. as a gift 💖 like christmas (chris helped)
Eddie bought them for Buck because he noticed his hands were getting dry and it was the only pair he could find that was big enough to fit Buck’s hands <3
housewarming gift from maddie & chim. it was half a gag gift but buck cherishes them
Eddie bought them for Buck while they were in quarantine because he noticed buck's hands get all red due to all the extra desinfecting and scrubbing and dish washing <3
Gag gift that he looked at and said ‘you know what, these fuck I love them’
bought them for himself only bc eddie said "haha u should buy those" ironically and buck is not one to half-ass shenanigans
Buck accidentally ordered the wrong ones off of amazon but kept them because he likes them
they're actually a gift from eddie post-tsunami when but still wasn't totally chill about possibly having things touch him underwater/being wet and now he's fine but he uses them out of habit anyway. they're pink and flowery bc if they weren't it might seem too sincere and we all know eddie Can't Have That
Chim bought them as a prank that backfired
Thank you all so much for participating! I hope it was fun <3

Blue Ribbon [of Fate]
Masamune x MC Smut
Word estimate: 2.2k
...He would just... look... good this way...
Contents / Content Warnings: dominant MC, (slight) bondage, blindfold, sex while injured, blow job(s), vaginal sex, pain mention, injury mention
A stolen humm of approval, a stray gasp as her teeth nibbled on his skin, her breath growing hotter. Mai sat up straight without a single note of a warning, his eye snapping open and staring at her in surprise… She, however, refused to answer the quizzical look, the tip of her finger beginning its journey at his jaw, tracing the path down his neck, stopping only at the very edge of the collar of his yukata, all to tap it lightly. “I do not plan on letting you out of bed in the near future. How you spend this time is up to you…” she hummed quietly. “And if I wanted to spend it with you?” “Then, of course, I’d have no choice but to oblige… On several conditions, that is.”
The scent of desinfectant rose into the air, the smell being both familiar and jarring, especially when put right below his nostrils. A cloth dabbing liquid pain into his broken lip, Masamune closed his eye and forced his muscles to relax, the burning sensation spreading down the side of his face alongside the touch of his lover, then carefully inspecting all his bruises and minor cuts. He let out a reliefed sigh, her fingers tracing a path down his neck and over to his chest, skilfully avoiding the few sore spots scattered in their way.
She pushed, and he fell, although he wasn’t quite sure as for why, his back hitting the soft futon below them before he even got a chance to wonder. Masamune opened his eye, Mai staring down at him, concern mixed with… Something he was not quite sure of. “What’s the –” he cut off sharply, her teeth grazing his neck, her lips searching for his pulse and latching onto it, a red mark soon blooming where they laid. She, however, pulled away, her cheak brushing against his. “You have no idea how scared I was when your letters stopped coming and all we had were rumours,” she whispered. An arm by his head supporting her, Mai straightened her back slowly, tilting her head as to meet his gaze. “I’m so… I just…You’re back,” she let out finally, dropping lower again. “Kitten –” he tired again, fervent kisses spilling over the line of his jaw, from his cheeks to his nose, forehead, eyelids, her touch a feather when at the corner of his mouth, not daring to go any further.
“And if I wanted to spend it with you?” “Then, of course, I’d have no choice but to oblige… On several conditions, that is.” “Several conditions?” Masamune asked, propping himself on his elbow and sitting up a moment later. “Yes, since you’re quite beaten up and I really do think you should rest. I want to take the lead today.” His grin appeared gentler than usual, perhaps for the fact that he had to subside it, lest he wished for his lip to break open anew. “Is that all?” “No,” Mai replied, cupping his face. “Second condition: do not even try to kiss me. No touching or moving without permission either.” Masamune nodded in reply, half-consciously leaning into her hand, her thumb brushing against the edge of his scar. “And lastly, I have a question: blue or red?” Not quite understanding how the matter could connect to their plans, he raised his eyebrows, her smile confusing him further, her thumb venturing over to the unscatched part of his lip. “Haven’t I told you I’d tie you up if you returned so tattered again?” she hummed, withdrawing her hand. “So?” “Blue.” Masamune swallowed thickly.
A moment passed before she returned, a pair of scissors and a roll of thick shiny ribbon in her hands. Unhurriedly, she straddled him, Masamune leaning back as she returned to her caresses, reaching below his collar, daring touch forcing it to open, deft fingers tracing the contours of his body. Her teeth grazed his collarbone, the obi keeping his yukata closed unwiding before he even realised – her nails in his shoulders, Mai pushed him down with what force she had. “Hands,” she demanded, her back straightening as she made herself comfortable, the fabric of her robe barely covering her legs. He obliged nearly immediately, the slight delay causing her to click her tongue.
Blue ribbon forcing his wrists to come together, she tied the ends of it into a bow, a content smile coming over her face as she pulled onto the fabric lightly, a flick of her finger urging him to let them rest above his head. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll break free?” “I have an odd inkling you are right where you want to be,” she hummed, her hand pulling onto his hair as to tilt his head back. Mai bit lightly onto his neck, her tongue sliding over his Adam’s apple. “Unless you’d rather flee from me?” she whispered against his skin. “No,” he rasped. “No?” “No, my Empress.” “That’s my Masamune,” she laughed, grinding against his cock hard as to reward him, the – much dreaded – fabric still standing in the way.
Masamune gasped, her lips descending down the length of his body, fresh marks blooming in their wake, accompanied by traces of her teeth. His muscles tensed, her breath tickling his stomach, few kisses more bringing her even lower. “What would you want me to do?” she asked, eyes fixated on him as she stroke his dick through the fabric. “I –” he groaned, her grip on him suddenly tightening. “You?” “I would like for you to take it into your mouth, my Empress,” he blurted out, and she granted his wish, her lips closing around him the moment the last word sounded off. Slowly, she took him deeper and sucked hard, pulling back the moment she heard him moan. “You’re rather vocal today,” Mai noted, licking the head of his cock lazily. “Should I stop?” “No. Don’t you dare.” She sunk low again, a hum answering her as she entered a steady rhythm, entirely focused on earning herself more of his praise.
His cock twitched, and she pulled away instantly, his hips unmoving despite the pained expression on his face. Careful as not to touch him, Mai straddled his waist, gazing down with a smirk. “What is it? Weren’t you enjoying my service?” she teased, stroking his cheek tenderly. “I was, my Empress.” “Then what’s the sour face for? Did you think you’d be allowed to finish just yet?” “Yes,” he let out a shaky breath, her nails scraping against his scalp. “Selfish thing,” Mai feigned a disdained sigh. “I want some of the pleasure for myself too… Although you can’t provide in your usual ways,” she continued, her gaze anchored in his lips. “Does it hurt?” “No.” Mai nodded absent-mindedly,  reaching behind herself as to give him a few pumps. “Good,” she hummed, sliding down his body.
Her fingers curled around the base of his cock, and she sunk onto him in one motion, her impatience showing in how wet she was. Her robe spread further as she rode him, her body tilted back for his dick to hit the one spot that sent elecricity through her. Her hands over his thighs, she let herself look away, her eyes soon closing just regardless – and he watched, his dick glistening whenever it emerged from between her folds, her pussy beautifully exposed, the collar of her yukata sliding open bit by bit. Her command was clear, for him not to even dare shy away from using his voice, so he let his praises be known, Mai humming alongside him as her walls grew tighter, sweat coming onto her skin and causing her to glow. Her pace grew frantinc, nearly disorganised, each breath a whimper in disguise…
Her hand slipped, her thumb pressing too close to the bandage, a jolt of pain surging up his leg. Masamune held back a wince, yet his muscles tensed regardless, her gaze mildly confused – and for all he could tell, she was so close, only falling down from her heights due to the minor mistake and the concern it caused… He jerked his hips up, rellying more so on his good leg, Mai falling forward as gaps spilled from her lungs. A few thrusts, although also a few too many, her eyes closing, her clothes in utter disarray… She clenched around him, her walls pulsing rhythmically.
Mai sat up abruptly, his cock still inside of her. “Up. Now,” she demanded, her eyes narrowing. Having drawn his arms to rest in front of his chest, Masamune obliged. “What have you done?” “I broke the rule, my Empress,” he replied, hardly remoresful. She bit onto his ear. “Which rule?” “ ‘Do not move without my permission’.” “So you were well aware of it? My, my…” she sighed, pulling back. “Close your eye.” He accepted his punishment without question, his world hiding behind the ribbon, a knot at the back of his head securing it in place, cool fabric sliding around his neck as well, dropping down by a bit as she tied a bow on him. She pushed onto his shoulders and he fell again, his cock falling out of her, her hips rising only to grind against him a moment later. Her hand appeared on his cheek, the thumb tracing the outline of his lips. “You’re so beautiful now, I almost wish you could see yourself,” she whispered, whitdrawing from him completely.
Masamune listened in closely. Her steps, somewhere around, quieting at a gradual pace… Was she movng away from him? To where? Something rustled and fell soundlessly – and she came near again, her skin brushing against his, warm breasts touching his chest. “Or maybe I should leave you like this and just longue around the way I am? Tease you a little, perhaps?” she laughed, his cock twitching against her stomach. “What do you think of that?” “Cruel.” “Oh? Too cruel for your punishment, you say?” “It’s cruel enough already since I can’t see you, my Empress,” Masamune replied.
His heart sunk, her warmth disappearing from him at once. Did he give the wrong answer? He strained his hearing, something moving by his good leg, her hair tickling him slightly as she traced her nails over the skin below his navel… Masamune groaned, his lover taking his cock deep into her mouth, her head beginning to move in a well-practised rhythm. Her fingers playing with his balls, she worked him relentlessly, methodical in spoiling him with each thing she learnt of him in the years they spent together. Up and down, she caressed him with her tongue, the period of separation they had endured turning his gasps all the sweeter – and she nearly dared be malicious and leave him again, her name sneaking into his moans being the only thing convinving her to stay. Just a little more, a little… A warning came from him, but she ignored it, his cock soon pulsing in her mouth as he came. Bitterness spreading over her tongue, she swallowed it all the same, for the lack of any better alternative at the time.
Mai slowly stretched her back, perhaps a few breaths passing before she moved as to untie his hands. “Can you turn on your side?” she asked, smoothing out the few minor lines left over his wrists with her thumb. “Yeah,” Masamune answered, wincing slightly as he moved and attempted to make himself comfortable. Careful as not to cause him any more pain, she removed the last few ribbons, his eye snapping open. His hand on her wrist, he pulled her into his arms before she even realised, her body flush against his. “The moment I let you lose, you pounce on me, really,” she laughed quietly, her hand on his shoulder. “I would have to be a fool not to, my Empress,” he hummed into her ear. “What would you say if I tied you up one day? I bet you’d look glorious in red…” “Get well first,” Mai snorted, pushing herself away from him. “And more importantly, we need to talk. I told you not to move, haven’t I?” she asked, staring him in the eye. “I wanted you to feel good too.” “I don’t want to come if it makes you hurt, understood?” she stated firmly, cupping his face in a gentle manner, her thumb brushing against the bruise over his cheek. “I know you care about me a lot, but, please, care more for yourself too. I love you, both when you’re leading, and when I take the lead, and when you’re –” she stopped abruptly, his arm hooking around her waist and pulling her forward. “Now you’ve done it, kitten, I swear,” Masamune murmured into her hair, his face feeling oddly hot, embarrassment winning against his tiredness. “My, my, I don’t tell it to you enough if you stop being used to it so fast,” Mai giggled, embracing him back. “Do you want to nap?” “We should wash up first,” he sighed. “I can go first, come here with a basin and wake you up?” “Yhmm…” was the only reply she got, his breathing growing gradually deeper.
Time passed, damp hair falling over the fresh yukata she donned. Having propped the basin on her hip, Mai slid the door to their room open, shy puffs of air coming from behind the folding screen. A gentle smile on her face, she stepped forward, soon setting the dish onto the tatami mats, few drops of water escaping past the rim. Perhaps it was out of habit, perhaps it was simply some odd impulse - whichever it was, she reached forward, her hands searching in the dark until her fingers tangled in the discarder ribbon. Somewhat surprised, Mai followed along its length, the fabric leading to where her lover lay.
